20 Best Radiology Programs In Akron, OH (2022 Updated)

Both my wife and I were returning college students and Stark State Alumni class of 2012. We both received a great education. She went for respiratory therapy and I went for Graphic Design. The graphic design program was wonderful. The professors were all very knowledgeable and really cared about their students (huge shout outs to Michelle Lash and Eugene Starr). The classes are small and it's very easy to schedule time with the professors if you need help or need to go over some things. It's also nice to have online classes if that's your thing. For the younger students (and older alike), Stark State also hooks you up with SALT at no charge after graduation, which is a useful tool to help find employement after graduation. Luckily I furthered my career without having to use SALT. The biggest recommendation I could suggest would be to offer more of certain classes. Sometimes only one class is offered a semester and can conflict with working hours. Thank you, Stark State and to all of my professors for giving me a great education and giving me a fighting chance in the workforce after graduation. For those who are seeking four year degrees and beyond, Stark State is definitely a great (and affordable) place to start.stephen slusny

I attended Stark State College a number of years ago when it was Stark Technical College. I am surprised by the negative reviews, because I had a great experience at the school. I graduate with a degree in Computer Technology, and the courses were challenging and taught me a lot. I still remember some of the great instructors like Mrs. McBride in my math classes. I even worked there part-time for about a year doing LAN Administration. They have provided me with a foundation for a very successful career in IT. I later completed my Bachelor degree at Kent State. I am currently completing my MBA. I was able to get a copy of my transcripts, even after graduating 25 years ago, by faxing in a request. I did this for two different Universities, and they arrived within a week. In this age there should be a way to do it electronically like Kent State, but at least they do not charge you for them. Overall I had an excellent experience and they prepared me for a very rewarding career in Computer Technology. I absolutely have no regrets about this school, and I enjoyed my time there.Kevin Frazier

I can not believe Stark State has less than 4 stars! This is my second semester and I LOVE it! The faculty are truly amazing and extremely helpful! This college also offers small class room sizes which makes learning more personal. Your teachers and professors always do their best to know each student by name. It is also extremely great for working folks who have busy work loads. They have many courses that can virtually work with any type of schedule. There are many success programs that Stark State offers, including assistance with any subject as well as a great Accommodations program for those with any learning disability/disability from minor to severe. Stark State also always keeps their students in the know through text message and emails. They give you the tools you need in order to succeed. Highly recommend this college!elisabeth brian

Veteran Review: I attended COTC and graduated with an Associates in Nursing. I can say that it was very cumbersome to attend COTC as a veteran. I utilized my Tuition assistance and needed to "push them along" the entire way. Every semester I had to contact veterans affairs and tell them what I needed them to do to approve TA. My understanding is that they needed prompted in every way and every time I needed something completed to allow me access to my tuition assistance. This includes having to pay for a semester out of pocket do to their delay in assistance and lack of ability to complete my necessary needs on their own. From my understanding, they should understand this. I am currently attempting to apply for my bachelors 2 semesters later and I am unable to receive tuition assistance, because COTC has not submitted my graduated status to TA and I am unable to attend classes as a consequence to said incident. All said and done: If you are a veteran, be prepared to coax COTC along to get what you need.SSG Ben Moran RN

I had a very close immediate relative die during summer semester. When my immediate relative had a stroke, I did not notify my professors on the matter. Sorry, my thoughts are not on telling my online professors about my relative bleeding in the brain. My time was spent in the hospital, hospice, and at work. I missed a few assignments but notified my professors at my earliest convenience. The work was completed. Professor Sample for PSY-210-NA failed me on multiple assignments, accused me of plagiarizing from a blog, and is the reason I will not be graduating this semester from COTC. The plagiarizing accusation is because I had "similar sentences of a blog post." What a joke. Never take a class as Professor Sample as your professor. Do yourself a favor and just go to a different school. I will NOT be going back there. President Coe and other faculty members at COTC I contacted did not help in any matter. Of course, they took the side of Professor Sample.Adam A

I… HATE… COTC! Its the nightmare that will never end. My husband leaves for the military in one week… His recruiter needs his college transcript, so that he can get a higher ranking, more pay and one of the jobs he wants. All he needs is the transcript. We went in on the 22nd and paid extra to have the transcript sent. They told us they would send it out that day or the next. Well today we saw his recruiter and he STILL hasn't received the transcript. We went into COTC and had to talk to them AGAIN about this. Oh did I forget to mention that when my husband first started seeing his recruiter, he paid extra to have his transcript and then they handed it to my husband, therefore making it unacceptable to the Air Force. This is not even close to the first problem either of us has had with them. Oh, maybe you all should check out there 'graduation rate.' Less than 20 percent of people even graduate! Taking part in the cyber security program, I can say that I had a great experience. My advisor (Esther Salem) was experienced and knew exactly what she was doing. From all of my teachers I only have had two which I would not recommend (of which I will not name names). Only thing that I did not enjoy was the lack of clubs that existed for student recreation. During my first year there was an anime club, but it fell apart when the leader graduated. For my last year and a half a few friends and I started the unofficial DnD club which eventually became a official club my last semesterJoseph

They place is very clean lots of parking lots of areas of study for your degree you can also do high school studied there and when you graduate for high school you would also graduate with your two year degree to move on to a four college or be able to start a job in your area of studyIIYeet “Tammy” Lord

Some of the teachers are there for you, and actually teach you, and others are not. I'd say 50% which is not a good college reputation. As well as making you take classes you don't need for your credits towards your career of choice. Overall a bad rating.Rebecca Blind

This college as a whole has been amazing. My instructors and the rest of the staff and faculty really care about your education. If I ever have any problems and I go to someone they either know the answer I am looking for or they will find someone who does. If I have any suggestions on how to make things better or easier for students they are always ready and willing to listen what I have to say and make improvements that will better students experiences. Amazing school. I graduated and walked already after my two years. Every teacher was supportive and there for me. You can just walk in to talk to an advisor (unless during semester start/end). Then it's by appointment. That is so much better than other schools. Osu only has very picky walk in times. MTC teachers put books in the library or I borrowed their copies so I spent nothing. They are friendly and the school is very pretty. Only a couple teachers were annoying, but every place has 1 or 2. I loved my time there.Molly m (YYH)

Do NOT go through this nursing program. Just take the few extra prerequisites that the other programs require and go somewhere else. This is the most unorganized program I've ever seen. They will reschedule clinicals and classes with absolutely no notice. They also give you lists of books to buy and change the required books the beginning of class. All they say when they mess up and change things around is "what do you want me to do, it's nursing school, you have to be flexible" it's nothing but frustration.Aletha Perry

The registered nursing program is a joke. Very disappointed I wasted my time and money going there. It’s pretty bad when the students know more than the “professors”. The people running the program were unprofessional and lazy to say the least. Paid for a certain amount of credit hours and they only had class half of the times we were scheduled. Lessons were taught per self by reading hundreds of pages per night because the professors were unsure what they were teaching. During class time professors had crying babies and barking dogs along with many more distractions. Spoke higher up and the dean was absolutely useless, wouldn’t take any responsibility for the low class education. The program does not equip students to become skilled nurses. If you have standards for your education I recommend going elsewhere.Abby Hileman

I would never go back to this school. I was very disappointed in the teachers in medical program but also try to reach out to the dean and she was not very understanding and rude. So many of the students in our class try to reach out to the teachers about not understanding the material they were teaching so we had to self teach ourselves .It seems like all the school wanted was money and not care at all about the students education. It's pretty bad when you have more than 12 plus students complaining and them not wanting to do anything. This place is mostly money hungry ,and it's very disappointing . They should be caring for all the students futures and do there best to guide them not break them down.S G

Worst College Ever. Tried taking summer classes here and it was unbelievable the amount of trouble I went through. No organization what so ever. My advisor scheduled me the wrong classes for the summer so I tried setting up an interview with her twice to have her change what classes I need to take and she was a no show both times. Then I finally got the right classes registered a week before the semester starts. Then they tell me that I was suppose to pay for the classes the week before that even though they didn’t have the right classes. For online classes they cost more than in person lecture classes at AU. Would not recommend this “place” to anyoneTyler Croskey

This college has frequent issues with their website when turning in or doing assignments. Return books to bookstore that you rent, and they "misplace" some, and charge YOU for it. No one fixes it…. Hard to get in touch with everyone. No way to work on a time frame with this college with issues with websites, and no way to get in contact with ANYONE you need to regarding logging in, assignments, registering, financial aid etc. etc. Last time i signed up everything took so long classes had already started for a whole week while i was still trying to get set up for each class. The FIRST day i was on the class page to try to catch up the teacher gave me a 0 on my first several assignments… EVEN THOUGH… I stayed up late the day I registered and got my books and tried to work toward catching up… I want to go back to college, but I don't think this is the one to be in…Amanda Arnett

The bookstore is horrible. The employees, not the student employees, were terribly rude. They did not give me all the textbooks I ordered online and it took 3 people and yelling for them to finally understand that they did not give me the access code. I even brought back the receipt and my actual order confirmation. They lied and argued with me about my order being fulfilled and held for me. I ordered one of my books from here using a gift card and a debit card, and it was an absolute mess. I placed this order on 8/22/2018. The staff had placed a call to me that went to my voicemail saying that they needed my code from the back of my card. I did not see that message until yesterday. I called in yesterday during business hours, and no one answered. I call in today only learn that my order had been cancelled without my permission and/or knowledge. There was no follow up call after that initial call, no call to let me know my order had been cancelled. Now I have to reorder my book and pay for express shipping so that I can do my work. If you can buy your books somewhere else, do it.Amy Truckey

I have been a student at Herzing since September of 2018 and I have watched that school go down hill. They can not keep consistent nursing instructors and have to make changes to student schedules 2 days before classes start. When they know most of their student population are parents with the majority of us being single parents that work and go to school. But they have made it abundantly clear that they do no support students unless they have money to pay out of pocket. I have watched faculty that has been there since I started grow more and more stressed with the “behind the scenes” politics that go on inside the school. I have watched instructors walk out the door and not look back. Herzing advertises that they are family oriented and all of that but it’s all a joke. They hired the nursing chair to add “ diversity” among the faculty. They have students file complaints on instructors because some of the instructors and other faculty is the rudest people I have ever met. They claim to be a nonprofit organization but have increased cost of tuition twice in just under two years. Oh and don’t have nothing go wrong in your personal life when you fail a class because they don’t care. You can have plan after plan but it won’t be enough for them to let you finish your program when you only have one semester left. This school has been the biggest waste of money and time of my life. I use to enjoy going to school in the mornings I loved the things that I got to learn on a daily basis.. but as their instructors left so did my pride in the school. They do not follow any of the standards that they hold their students to. They don’t educate you if you make a mistake they reprimand you and fail you. They will show you over and over again that you success means nothing to them.. they just want the paycheck.Misty Romigh

Recommended for real people that have real lives and real responsibilities. I attended the online program for my bachelors and masters degrees in nursing, though there is a stand alone campus here in Akron. I was able to attend both programs full time and I will consider returning when it's time for any post-masters certificates. The admissions department was easy to work with and did not use tactics that made me feel pressured or rushed with deciding to enroll and then re-enroll for my advanced degree. The professors were as helpful as they could be and did everything they could do to prepare me to pass my certification exam (which I did on the first attempt!). The resources that we were provided surprised me because they were so accessible and effective. Lastly, the very important behind the scenes staff-accounts, student services and advisors, library, and tech support were amazing. They always addressed my concerns within a timely fashion and what was not known, they sought out an answer and closed the loop for me. My student services advisor (Meaghan G.) continued to answer questions in this same manner even after I completed the program. Thank you to all of the staff. A challenging journey could have been worse without all of your support and efforts!H M Q

Save your money and time!!!!! Students don’t mean anything to them besides a hefty paycheck. They will side on the faculties side every time. The nursing chair is the biggest joke of all the faculty and is the most unprofessional person I have encountered at the school. Some professors care and want you to learn the material, while others play favoritism among students. Don’t worry about signing the syllabus, addendum, nursing handbook, or the P.R.I.C.E. to success paper because the school doesn’t support the policies if its against a faculty member. They can’t keep professors and the student turn over rate is beyond high. Finally if you want to take general education in a classroom setting, not going to happen here because they let go of their general education professors and it’s done all online. So be prepared to pay a ton of money to teach yourself.Danielle Crow

Sent an email over a week ago to patient services/advocate about a pretty big concern and have heard absolutely nothing from Patient Services or the Department that the concern is related to. Definitely feel like the hospital is not looking out for the best interest of my son. "we care for every child that comes through our doors…." Technically true but funny a department has refused to care for my son due to his special needs….hmm….goes against the reported motto of the hospital. I generally do not like to leave public reviews for places but maybe I can get a response this way. No other way has worked. Edited September 1, 2022 to add: I have thought long and hard how to edit this review and after a night of no sleeping thinking about this, I am at the conclusion that I will never forgive or forget the lack of care and disrespect this hospital has shown my special needs son. After a few interactions that were meant to pacify me after I left the original view, I have had no further contact with the hospital regarding how to handle this situation. Furthermore, months ago I requested a hospital administrator to reach out to me and they never did. I find it highly disrespectful and maddening that the hospital can talk about my son and me but they fail to actually talk to me about the situation. As a parent and former employee, I am so upset about the lack of care, respect and regard that my son has gotten from this hospital. All children and especially those with special needs require extra care and support. Again, while the hospital thinks that they did nothing wrong and there is nothing I can do about it, I will never, ever forget this. Nor will I forgive. So to anyone that reads this—especially parents of special needs children—be aware that your child may get too old or “too hard” to be taken care by an organization that mission statement says the complete opposite. Let me begin by saying that Akron Children's Hospital is great! They have great staff and are always very thorough as far as questions and concerns go. But there medical billing is terrible!!! The staff is super rude and doesn't work with you at all on a reasonable payment plan. I have great credit but I also am paying on a ton of other bills, so I told them how much I can afford to pay and they said that's not good enough. They want more or they are going to send me to collections and ruin my credit. Lovely people I tell you what. I suggest akron childrens hires different staff for the billing department, I understand that's their policies and that's what they have to go by, but the billing staff does not need to be so rude about it! Also I tried calling them to negotiate my bill and pay it in full. My mom was going to help me with the payment. But they wouldn't even talk to my mom, even though I gave them a verbal consent to talk to her. And again the lady was very rude that I spoke to. I work in medical billing myself and we will except 5 dollars a month if that's all the patient/guarantor can afford! I feel like thats how it should be everywhere. I don't know if Akron Children's Hospital thinks that because they have great staff that actually work for the hospital that they can take advantage of you in the billing department. But I don't really think that's fair to the customers and that's terrible customer service. The only reason I am going to continue to take my daughter there is because I want what is best for her, and the hospital staff is amazing. **We've always had the best care from medical staff at ACH. Our complaint digs deep into the issues with the financial counseling and billing department and the governing board. We've had a fair number of medical bills. We've always, 100% of the time, paid our medical debts, and consider ourselves fortunate to only have had to deal with minor medical things. However: earlier this year I emailed Financial Counsel at Akron Children's for an estimate for an evaluation we wanted to do for our son. After a quick, fairly easy call, our estimate was $350. We decided that the cost was worth it to do this proactive eval, and got scheduled in. Weeks passed, and our bill was just under $3K. Nearly 10x what they estimated. So Akron Children's messed up. Admittedly. People in financial counseling said outright "I'd write this off now if I could". The process doesn't work that way, and any disputes go to their board. The board has denied it twice now. This is less about my unwillingness to pay and more about Akron Children's lack of transparency when we did our due diligence (I have the email which states "I want to make sure this is a test we can afford"). Expecting us to foot the bill for something they incorrectly estimated is garbage. I have been duped into a large medical bill when I took all the steps to ensure that wouldn't happen. **UPDATE: I just wanted to revisit this after a call with patient services today, we finally reached an acceptable resolution. I'm thankful to be done with this, and do hope ACH will revise their estimate processes going forward.Katie Kuceyeski

The owner made me feel singled out. they dont let you make up any work missed for any reason. i missed a day due to falling on ice and could not make up class and now im just lost. too much money they charge for you not to be able to make up missed work. i would recommend a different school who actually cares about students who are having hard times with course workLay

I highly recommend taking this program! The classes were really fun and Ashley (the instructor) really made sure each and everyone fully understood before moving on to the next lesson. Within 8 weeks of being a student I received my first dental job in Endodontics! Ashley was there to help with any questions and help with resumes and cover letters. I loved this program. Keri and Anesha are awesome! They really push you to do you’re best and this program really changed my outlook on my future career. The facility is top-notch. They have all up to date tools and you always have a welcoming feeling as soon as you walk through the door. I had 2 visits, my first visit was 5 stars. The staff was wonderful and the doctor actually listened to what I was telling him. I went in with symptoms of a kidney stone, my Doctors office wasn't able to see me so I went here. I let the Doctor know I had a CT in March. He was hesitant to do another but i insisted. Kidney stone was confirmed along with a small infection. I was given meds and sent home (the usual). I saw the same XRay tech both times. She was absolutely wonderful both times. I also had the same security guard on duty both times, the most empathetic lady every, she was also wonderful. Things started to get worse, I wasn't able to keep any food or water down for 2 days. I was very dehydrated due to this. Can't pass a stone if you can't drink water. So I went back, this time I was less lucky. The staff was incredibly rude to my significant other and very dismissive of me. They did another CT that showed the stone had hardly moved at all. I have a history of stones and I know what it feels like. I told them this time was different, something is wrong but they didn't care. I was then sent home, I was at least given pain meds. 2 more days pass and I went to a competitors ER and was admitted into the hospital same day due to a severe kidney infection. The staff here said that I shouldnt have been sent home. They pulled my records and said there weren't any updated labs… Meaning they didn't run ANY while I was there. I don't think they even looked at my file. If they would have taken me seriously I would not have a huge hospital bill… How am I supposed to take antibiotics if I can't keep anything down?? We know our bodies better than you do… I'm pretty young so I don't know if they just thought I was being dramatic or seeking drugs? Idk. I will be using Suma from now on.Jen W

I have been to the emergency room here 3 times with my family and I just can't say enough great things about this place. The nurses, doctor, and staff were so friendly and attentive. They went above and beyond to make my daughter comfortable when she got stitches. One nurse even sprinted to my car to open the door for me while I was carrying my daughter. I saw Dr John Hunter today for a spinal epidural pain/nerve block. He was very informative and very kind. I was scared out of my mind and he AND his staff were patient and genuinely caring. I have a wonderful doctor, Dr. Ison is the best doctor, I've been with him since he opened up years ago. Love them dearly,. Great staff they have always treated me like family. Very kind staff wouldn't go anywhere else. I was there this morning for my check up, I have never seen this there before an individual was mean and nasty to one of the best person whom I've known for many years, Tammy you were very professional about everything that you did for this individual. These two stars are all my husband and I can relay as we have nothing bad to say about our doctors. However the staff, especially the front desk, have been less than helpful for the past few years we've been here. We are constantly holding their hands for refills and continually checking in when we are told we'll get a call back. Appointment times are inconsistent with what they tell you versus what their emails say. I rarely remember a visit when the front desk was helpful let alone cordial. We'll be looking elsewhere for care simply because of the staff and that's too bad for the doctors.Lindsay Covey

I have only positive things to say about my doctor. She is professional, friendly, easy to talk to, and always answers my questions. She is also quickly responsive to emails. My main complaint is the inability to reach anyone in the office on the phone. I have called multiple times in a day and the phone just rings and rings. The crazy thing is my insurance co. and signage in the office suggest calling your primary care doctor first before going to the ER or urgent care for nonemergent issues, but that would never work here since no one answers the phone. I attended Fortis College back in 2011/2012, and I loved every minute while I was there. I was blessed to have such great instructors. All had experiences in the field of Criminal Justice, and were very knowledgeable about the learning material. Not only was it a great learning environment, it was also a fun environment. The instructors set a stage for the students to WANT to be involved. It was a joy to go to school whilst attending Fortis. All the staff made it their goal to see you succeed. All were very personable, and it felt like being apart of a family. If you had any problems (I rarely had any) there were countless of individuals you could go see and get them resolved. I loved how they had award ceremonies after each semester. They recognized all our efforts and hard-work, and it was always a great feeling to be one of those persons. The atmosphere was always positive. I've made lasting friendships not only with other fellow students, but instructors as well. If you are thinking about attending Fortis College, I encourage you to enroll. It was the best decision I made. I'm now attending a University to obtain my bachelor's degree, and many of the credits I received at Fortis transferred. So if that is one of your worries, worry no more.Seema Hagen

I started my education here when it was NIT in 2001, the instructors were great knowledgeable, and I was placed in a job on the day of graduation. In 2004 I returned to upgrade my Diploma to an Associate Degree, I only had to retake 1 course and my Gen Eds and was completed, again the instructors were fantastic, knowledgeable, and truly provided me the help I needed to succeed one on one, this is something I would not have received from a big University. I have been employed by Fortis since 2005, as an instructor, and in the mean time went back to college for my Bachelor's and Master's at another University, however that University accepted all of my credits from my education at Fortis. I am grateful for NIT/Fortis in all they have done to help me on my journey from Financial Aid to Career Services the experience was great!Melissa Fullen

I graduated from this college in 2012, and my mother also graduated from this college several years ago. My mother and I both had a great experience while attending Fortis College. Fortis College teachers and staff are very supportive of ALL their students to graduate and work in their career field. At this college location they had friendly and dedicated teachers .The classes were in a comfortable and more focused setting with up to about 20 students in each class. I got my first degree assocates was okay. I had to take things that did not relate to what I was going for. I feel they are all about money. I'm in it again for a certificate for medical. The teachers are rude and blaming the students if we don't understand something. They say we are failing to understand and listen. All semester I have been trying and the teachers being rude. Info is was to much to do and the work and just combing too much together. I feel I have made a poor decision. In chosing to take my cerfticate for medical here. I have even had the teacher call me yelling at me when I tried to tell her I felt I was being treated unfair. I had a death in the family at the time. Also recently I keep being told I am the only one if there's a issue like not receiving all three cpr certificates in e-mail and to figure it out myself. Then I found out other in the class had same issue. I am at my witts end in theclass but close to graduating this semester but can't tolerate being treated like this anymore. I'm afraid to go to lccc about the teachers that they will fail me or make it worse for me. I have not been in a situation like this in all my years of going to school.Katherine

terrible, some teachers are great, others are the worst I've ever met. Prof. Craddock in microcomputer applications will have a fit if you dare look at your phone, then she will give you the worst lecture of your entire life, then give you an assignment with directions so vague it is impossible to do. Credit transferring has a 50/50 chance of working, Trustee Scholarships get ignored by financial office constantly. The "welcome to lccc " course or SDEV is the biggest waste of time ever. Multiple hours a week devoted to nothing. Lorain County Community College has many degree and certificate programs to choose from. Plan sheets are available throughout the campus. Assessment testing will help you to determine if you are ready. The key for me was to find a plan and stick with it. The atmosphere was nothing like my high school, and I loved it. I found a great job in my field even before graduating. Later, I was able to transfer my entire two-year degree into one of the University Partnership programs. I started as a third-year student, and completed my bachelor's degree while working full-time and raising a family, without having to leave the county. Once I had a goal, counselors, advisors, faculty members, tutors, staff and even fellow students helped me to reach it!Margaret Rozmarynowycz

I love this school and everything they have to offer. This is a wonderful place to further your education. They are very helpful with all your needs and work hard at providing you with the necessary tools to achieve your goals. I mainly go to the centerville campus-since I live right around the corner in Kettering, but I’ve been to the main campus a time or two. It’s very easy to find everything here, and a cute layout. It’s so much more than a community college, and hopefully one day they will take on the full roll. Until now it’s a great place to be. You can also get your bachelor’s here for only a couple select programs. I highly recommend this college to any and all. Their is no reason to pay tens of thousands in college fees, simply for a name that nobody in the professional world even cares about. Still one of the best educational values in the country. Sinclair has agreements with most of the major state universities and 4-year colleges, as well as robust adult education/trade education programs. And the campus is nicely laid out. It's easy to get to and from, there is ample parking (you may have to "cruise" at peak times), and most of the campus is connected by sheltered walkways or tunnels.Athena Prime

Sinclair Community College has really been improving over these past few years. I'm currently attending the Nursing program. The newer building 14 is really nice and clean and has nice practice styled simulation rooms and equipment. Most of the professors I've encountered have been a positive, there are a few though that should reconsider being a teacher.Dani Ewing

I am absolutely in LOVE with this college. Remember, college is what you make it to be. Haters often don't like Kent because they were the ones that went home every weekend and changed their major 15 times. Pros: Kent has A TON of clubs, organizations, volunteer opportunities, etc to get you to involved. I've liked almost all my professors, and they really go out of their way to make sure YOU achieve. The library, rec center, and dining halls are all really good and updated. A lot of lecture halls are updated also. The campus has pretty much everything you will ever need including: Free transportation to surrounding cities, laundry mats, free rec center, free sporting events, free desktop computers in almost every building, cheap printing, markets with food you can buy with your meal plan, and SO much more. I just have loved my experience here. Cons: The food does get boring after about 2 months of eating it (Even with 24 different dining locations), you can't use your meal plan downtown, the rec center is a little bit of a walk, the football stadium is pretty much inaccessible without bus/car transportation, our current President (Lester Lefton) is no good (Getting a very promising new President in July!), a lot of people go home on the weekend, and it gets really cold up here. But, these are things that come with pretty much any campus you do decide to go to. There ARE going to be things you don't like with any campus. I graduated from Kent 2 years ago and it was the best 4 years of my life. I had amazing professors who helped me obtain internships which is why I was able to find a job right after graduation. The bottom line is college is work, if you don't put in the effort or slack then yea you might not graduate on time. Some of these bad reviews are ridiculous. Its not Kent states fault you wont graduate on time and dealing with loans is always stressful. Going to Kent was the best decision and I made life long friends. They have a lot of organizations to get involved with. I was in a sorority and loved it. I have zero complaints about anything.B Marie

Aside from the beautiful campus, this place allows you to make what you want of your experience. It is flexible for commuting students (besides the occasional parking headache), provides plenty to do for those living on campus, and employs quality staff and faculty. It is a research institution that is doing incredible things and is providing amazing opportunities for all walks of life in the Kent community, northeast Ohio region, the nation, as well as globally. Under President Warren's leadership, I only expect the institution to gain more prestige throughout the years.Judson VanAntwerp

Hi, I'm a graduate from 1988 of the Dental Hygiene program. I have a successful career now. The dental hygiene clinic has since been updated and looks awesome! I had a positive experience there. I always encourage people to attend, even if it's just to save money on electives! My son is currently registered and will be attending this month, I'm thrilled. I'm also going to be attending, but as a 60 year old who will be auditing the class, because I can go for free! I give Lakeland 5 Stars…Good luck!Char Shinsky

It was pretty quiet there considering the pandemic. I went to the meteorology lab taught by John Niedzelnik. He was laid back and informative with the students. Tries to change things up with guest speakers and field trips! The only complaint is directionally, the school does not have enough signage or directories to navigate your way through the school.Valerie Garrett

I love this school! I just started this semester and I can reel you that every there is so welcoming and friendly. the classes are very affordable! All of my classes were paid for by red cross this semester which I am extremely grateful for. The school has everyone you need and looking for in a community college..
