I first came to Goodwin for a Manufacturing Career Fair on August 2014. My plan going in was to improve/expand my professional network but after introducing myself to the two ladies at the front door, I was escorted to the admissions office. During this impromptu meeting I learned of their range of Manufacturing programs ranging from a Collegiate Certificate to Bachelor's Degrees. The lady I met with was very nice so I decided to let her run through her whole pitch before refusing. After she finished running through her speech I was about to politely decline when my eyes fell upon a pamphlet detailing their Certificate in CNC Machining. My attitude switched from polite dismissal to serious consideration. By the time the holiday season was in force, I had officially enrolled. From the Spring 2015 – Fall 2016 semesters, I experienced the most fulfilling education of my life. Classes tailored to my major were taught by professors with real-life experience in the manufacturing field. Knowledge gained from operating machines in the school's shop helped me secure my first manufacturing based job (which at the time of this review, I have been at for over a year). Around two weeks ago I walked in the 2017 Commencement with my CNC Certificate AND Associate's Degree (Summa Cum Laude!!!). Making the choice to again become a student with Goodwin College is one I do not regret, in spite of my now increased loan debt. Looking for a quality education with real life application? I graduated in 2006 with a General Business Degree the Staff and Faculty were all very helpful and on top of their jobs. I signed back for classes in 2013 for my Bachelor's Degree in Business unfortunately the staff and faculty changed in a Very Negative way. I had Mr. Rotondo as my Advisor who had me taking classes that i had previously taken also the Black Board Online classes system kept going down I another class were i completed the work on time but their system did not register my work it had been idled for 36 or more hours and never registered my work causing me a NS for the class this caused a snowball affect to the downfall of me no longer attending classes. I talked with Professor Valeria he advised i write some sort of letter which i did explaining the double classes Mr. Rotondo had me take due to him not paying attention to my previous classes for He was my teacher in 2004-2006. I wrote the letter and i have not heard Anything back from Goodwin They just cost my family Time and Money.Callie Faison

So far I love the complex, the professor are really nice and helpful. They want you to pass the class for sure. The only thing I can complain is for the service of Financial Aid. I am a transfer from Lincoln College and when I was about to change they explain me that it would be cheaper or about the same. Before classes start I went to Financial Aid to see how much it was going to cost me, but they didn't have any information of me yet. Then I received a message saying "to not go to financial aid" I could start right away. I went again the day before start and they couldn't tell me anything. They charge already for the semester, it shown in my credit report, this is my third week of class and I do not even know if is the same as Lincoln, more expensive or less.Christian Diaz

I have to admit, after being accepted to the Master's program early in 2014 I was nervous attending graduate school. I was unsure of what type of situations I would encounter, and what type of curriculum I would face. After the first day of orientation, I knew that the University of Bridgeport was the best choice for me. The staff and professors in my department are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The classes I have taken have not only improved educational leadership qualities, but have also helped improve my mathematical prowess. Although the classes may seem difficult at time, my professors demonstrated an excellent balance in challenging students while holding their interest. I have created many long lasting friendships as well with the students in my program. In concurrence with our education progress, we find ourselves continuously engaging in a sort of fellowship that I have not experienced elsewhere. In essence, the phrase "work hard, play harder" seems fitting. We have fun in class, and we get to work when we need to. I find that my professors are equally as entertained as my fellow students, helping to aid in the maintenance of the positive climate in the classrooms. If anyone reading this is nervous or unsure of their decision to attend the University of Bridgeport, as someone who previously felt the same way I offer the following advice: don't be. This is a phenomenal University with amazing programs and a delightful professional staff. They will help guide you to success by any means necessary. If you put the work in, keep a positive attitude, and remember to have fun, I promise you that the University of Bridgeport won't let you down.Philip Abraham

I am currently a freshman at UB almost finishing my first semester, I am majoring in the health sciences and hopefully 4 years from now I will be doing my masters in Chiropractic. I came to America all the way from Indonesia, I studied at an international school so I have met people from many different countries and cultures, UB made me feel like I never left that sense of living in an international environment because of all the diverse cultures that you find here. Professors, Students and Staff are very open and very supportive if you need any help and the fact that UB is a very small school makes it a better sense of community among students. Classes are good and challenging, resources are provided if in the need of help just like tutoring or counseling. I had the chance to make many close friends in just a few months from different backgrounds, friends that have become a second family to me. Although the distance from my family is too long I feel like I've found a new place that I can call home for the next 7 years. I do not regret my choice.Leonardo Castiglioni

As a current undergraduate student studying International Political Economy and Diplomacy (IPED), I've had nothing short of a wonderful experience at UB. I can only speak for my major, but I love my program. Most of my classes are engaging, and my teachers are always available to talk and answer questions outside of class which is much appreciated. The thing that I love most about UB is the diversity. Especially studying in a internationally focused major, there's a huge difference in talking about events throughout the world, and actually hearing a first person perspective from someone who is from that country. My best friend is from Syria! Of course there's a few things I would change, but overall I am really happy with my experience so far.Virginia Orman

Gorgeous facility and a great program to boot. Building has huge glass walls and a nice corridor which is used for several events. The architecture was built with the intention of reflecting their philosophies of transparency, which seems to hold true, parking can be an issue for nonstudents, have to park in another garage across the street and walk over or parallel parking.Hisham

I went here for my first two years of college. Here's what I've noticed. – The people here are great, for the most part. – UNH emphasizes on a welcoming environment – There's always new development like the Bergami center which is a very nice looking building. – I lived in Westside and Winchester halls. Both are good! – I was in Engineering which I struggled in, but when I changed my major to accounting I had no struggle. – I just really wish UNH was more helpful with finance and mental health. – They were WAY too strict with Covid. Yes, I understand the dangers, but we're adults you have to remember. They threatened to suspend if you violate rules, even accidentally. They also quarantined my entire hall in 2020 just because one student got covid. I really didn't believe they had to be that harsh. – They were also TERRIBLE with communication when moving in for my 2nd year (because of covid), and I had to spend a month trying to figure out when to move in. – The Accessibility resources center is a good place, but once they forbid me from using a calculator on a chemistry exam in March of 2020. Everybody but the ARC staff thought that was terrible. – Their math department was terrible. The professors meant well, but it was not taught in an interesting way. – On a positive note, they are fantastic at safety. In January of 2021 I got cyberbullied by someone in the school who made threats including a death threat. The ResLife dept. handled it very well and the police took it very seriously and found the guy doing it, someone who I thought was a friend. He was suspended. Overall, UNH is not perfect, but their heart is in the right place. I didn't leave for any of these reasons listed, that's another story entirely. But if you are Nick, Chris, Lucas, Antonia, Victoria, Makayla, Jenna, Galianna, Alexa, or Patrick, I miss you!James Shewan

I attended UNH between spring 2019 and January 2021 (two years) as a transfer, and earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice (Investigative Services Concentration). I am giving this school 3 stars because excluding a very good academic experience, there were too many low moments I experienced at UNH for me to give this review more stars. These low moments range from lack of opportunities for commuter students (which is what I was for 3/4 semesters), existing social circles that prevent prospective students from feeling any sense of belonging, the school's fostering and promotion of the word "LatinX", and other things. (Mainly because I am a Latino/Hispanic male originally from South America, and don't see how the word is applicable to the Central/South American community). The pandemic did affect the college experience in spring 2020, but my experience was already going downhill well before this. For these reasons, I feel as though this was an era of my life that never happened. Above all, I find it difficult to talk about this era and school in more positive (than negative) ways. I do recommend this school for my degree. My professors did an excellent job of teaching me. But it all does come at a cost because setbacks or letdowns (described above) can quickly affect a student's experience. Likewise, I am considering graduate school here because my professional job search opened my eyes to how graduate degrees are becoming the new standard for the U.S workforce. The beauty of this school is not just about the academic excellence and great facilities, but the diversity; it’s almost as if every nationality is represented here. Everyone is friendly from the students to the academic staffers, non-academic staffers, to the school security operatives. When I visited this school I observed wheelchair accessibility is greatly adhered to in this institution. I also noticed there’s a 24/7 Wells Fargo Bank ATM point on this campus. Consequently, you will always have access to cash. When you school here you also get to enjoy the magnificence of New Haven, West Haven and most of all New York City, since it’s just less than an hour ride with your car or via the Metro-North Train. Although my professors have been awesome, the university as a whole is horribly disorganized and mismanaged. The various staff of different departments are uniformly rude and uninformed. I've gotten wrong and/or misleading information on basic protocol literally EVERY SINGLE TIME I've spoken with someone (where do I submit work study requests? Can I still carry student insurance if I'm part-time?) Regarding the insurance, I was told "yes" by 2 different pople. HOWEVER, the answer to that is it's automatically cancelled when you register online for classes and it is received as part-time, so then you have to re-enroll as a new client at a higher rate. I found this out when I was trying to fill a prescription and after much investigation found out that my insurance had been cancelled. This is one of the MANY problems I've experienced with Southern administration. Equally as faulty, is the technology "services" that Southern uses. Windows 7 computers in the computer labs that take (no joke) 5-20 mins to log you on if there are more than 3 people in the room and remote printing that requires an installation on your laptop every time you want to use it. This is recommend since you'll otherwise sit for 20 mins for the lab computer to log on and then progress to opening and printing a file at the speed of dial-up. If you need to reach anyone (computing services, the bookstore) for questions, you'll be strained to find contact info outside of the (203)392-SCSU main office number. A detailed Google search rarely finds the phone numbers associated with specific offices. Most recently, for the past month as Southern has started the fall semester, their network has become so overloaded that the mail server periodically un-syncs all of my devices from their email (iPhone, Mac) so I don't get mail or know that an email I sent never actually sent, since it doesn't appear in ANY outbox or draft folder from any device. But since it happens off-and-on, as the SCSU network comes and goes as it pleases, I've not known about the missed emails until someone tells about a group email I missed. Lastly, and kinda most importantly, Southern's crap internet system occasionally doesn't recognize my password for Bannerweb, email, and Blackboard. Confoundingly, this doesn't occur on these applications all in one sitting. MANY TIMES I've sat and typed my password into Blackboard 5+ times and magically after repeated entries it suddenly works!!! Always had the same problem logging into "myscsu" and trying to get my email back online to the Southern server. Recommendation: If you're enrolling as a full-time undergraduate, I would HIGHLY recommend looking for a school elsewhere because you're DEFINITELY not getting your money's worth at this institution. Note: they also have no funding for student work study anymore, so don't count on that for extra money/tuition expenses. If you're taking classes part-time, for a job or continuing education, it will be a frustrating experience, but not a total waste of money. Botton line, I rated 2 stars because the professors and experiences with classmates have been awesome this past year, but the university as a whole is beyond frustrating.Jennifer Vollmer

im usually not the type of person to be negative and leave lengthy reviews but this is so necessary being that im so extremely disappointed with this school! I went for a tour in November of 2017 fell in love with the campus so I decided to apply as a transfer student in April of 2018! I sent in my fee waiver form April 20th I was told it takes 2-3weeks to hear back from the school, ok cool! here it is a MONTH later still no response, nor any communication to even let me know they've received my fee waiver form and that id be hearing from them soon or whatever the case may be just complete silence!!! not to mention the students that answer the phone are very rude and snappy! I withdrew my application and applied to Iona college! I applied with them got an acceptance letter, got my financial situation settled, paid my deposit all within a week, easy as 1,2,3 as it SHOULD be. Its an excellent school with a countless number of awards, i feel as though the process of applying to schools should be as easy and stress free as possible! Im extremely dissatisfied with my experience with this school it literally had everything I was looking for campus wise, but everything happens for a reason and being that Im going into the education field I've been told from numerous amounts of educators that im better off getting a job, with a degree from Iona under my belt. If I could give Southern zero stars I absolutely would. They are extremely unorganized, they don't care about you as a student AT ALL.. They cancelled a BIO class that I really needed a week before classes start. I emailed the head of the department asking for a solution and all I got was a too bad.. Now because of this I have to attend an extra semester and will not be graduating in time.. They offer classes at odd times which makes it hard for you to sign up for classes back to back, so far the professors I had don't care about you and are not understanding.. I graduated from Western Connecticut and I never had a problem with them and now because of Southern I have to spend more of my time and money that I don't have…Barbara Monteiro

I write this review out of immense gratitude towards this great institution, Yale New Haven Hospital! I lost my father to COVID in October of 2020 when my parents were happily and independently living in India. I requested my mom to come with me after my dad's demise and she came along with me to the US. Her life had come to a screeching halt after my father left, who she was completely dependent upon. Unfortunately, My mother was diagnosed with cancer in April of 2021 while she was in California visiting my sister. We were all distraught hearing this and we asked her to come here for her treatment at Yale. My parents were successfully able to lead a comfortable life in India, but she had no source of income nor any medical insurance when she came to the US. We scheduled our first appointment at Yale with Dr. Judson, a head and neck surgeon who had operated upon my wife before. During our appointment, I met Shannandola at Yale, who worked for Yale's administration and said we would have no choice, but to go for self pay. She humbly guided me to apply for Yale free care. This was a shot in the dark and we had so much on our mind that we did not even hope for anything after applying for it. I received a call from Iris at Yale Financial department regarding my application and she guided me on the additional documents required for the application to be considered. I was able to promptly provide her with all the documents that she requested and within hours of our conversation, I heard back from her giving me a verbal approval for my mother's free care at Yale and all it's subsidiary hospitals and clinics. This felt like a call from God. I literally started crying on the call and we all hugged and started to cry out of joy after the call as a family. My mother was relieved beyond words could express! My mother underwent a successful surgery that lasted 13 long hours with 3 surgeons working tirelessly to remove her cancer. She underwent chemo and radiation therapy at Yale along with physical and speech therapy. this was all done at 0 charge to her. My mother fought like a brave soldier and was working hard to recover from the strong side affects from the radiation. She developed severe aspiration pneumonia and we lost our mother unfortunately due to the complication from the radiation in September of this year. My family and I are incredibly grateful to Yale for all that they have done for us. Sickness, Life and death are beyond our control unfortunately, but she was relieved from a major financial burden by this kind and benevolent act of Yale.Utkarsh Jhala

My first time ever being hospitalized was last year April with Covid. It was by far the worst experience ever, I told people whenever God decides to give me a child, I will look into home birth. Animals probably get better treatment. I went in for Covid and next thing I knew, I was being treated like a psych patient. Yes they say Covid did alot to people, but if wasn't for the fact that I gave my life completely to the Most High God on that hospital bed. Then I probably would have been died like countless people who were ignored, starved, given unnecessary medications and have your rights as a patient ignored. When I tried to complain about what was happening to me, many didn't believe because it sounded like something out of a movie. I tried to tell them, "they are trying to kill me." My life flashed infront my face twice, I had 2 near death experience and it was not due to Covid, it was due to the medications the nurses admistered and my heart stopped. My phone got taken away and they try to say I was hitting staff, woke up in restraints and given IV medications against my will. If you come to draw someone's blood while they are sleeping, obviously they will move. Some people should not be taking care of others. Many healthcare professionals also needs a spiritual life, because due to the medication they gave me, it weakened my body and I had a horrible spiritual attack. I asked for a priest or pastor and I was denied. One of the doctor who work at the VNA that works at yale was the worse. I never told them I was in nursing so they had no clue that I was aware of certain things. It goes to show you that people take their bias to work and treat patients worse than animals. It starts with the EMT. I had to take time out from schooI and was unable to work when I first came out the hospital. I had to learn to trust humanity again. I have never been to prison, but this was beyond horrifying. I have never had issues with my liver and the amount of medications they gave me did some harm to my liver and overall immune system. I am a child of the Most High God and he always fight my battles for me. Only a few nurses and staff members were caring. One needs to be prayed up when they are visiting the hospital or being hospitalized, because there is so many spirits in hospitals.Kemecia Arthur

First let me say that the doctors, nurses, and all of the staff at Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) are fantastic. The medical care is great. With that said, the food service if you are a vegan is terrible. If you are going to be spending any time at YNHH and are a vegan, please bring your own food as best you can. I had a procedure where I stayed overnight and I got to a room at about 9PM. The food service closes at 8PM. I asked the nurse what they had to eat as I had not eaten due to the procedure in about 20 hours. All they had was sandwiches; Turkey, Ham, and Beef. They had zero vegan options. The nurse was able to find me dry breakfast cereal, and tiny cups of peanut butter. Later she found me a little fruit cup like you would send to school with your children their lunch. That is all I had to eat. In the morning I went to order something and the "menu" has some things marked as "plant based". Turns out they do not mean vegan, they mean 'mostly plants with some animal products'. The marking was inconsistent, as an apple was not marked as plant based, but a meal that had milk in it was. You have call their food service and ask them to list the ingredients of anything you think might be vegan to find out as their staff does not know either. Come on YNHH, get your act together, this is 2022! Support vegan food at the hospital. Food service wise, I give them an "F".Robert Orion

Stunning campus. Reminds me of Oxford. Unfortunately student campus tours were cancelled after we made plans to visit, so we created our own itinerary. Lots of areas were closed off to outsiders, and I watched as students entered through large gates with key-in access from their phones. Only downside of Yale is New Haven itself. Outside of the Yale campus, New Haven can be a little sketchy in some areas and I would advise caution when roaming.Avalus

Full disclosure: I didn't go to school here, so I can't speak to the academics. I did work with an alumnus and he was a cool guy, so I'm guessing this university is a great place. The campus is beautiful in an old, classic way. It's so stunning, I'd say it merits a visit on its own. I had a great time scrolling through campus and snapping pics. Even though I don’t go to Yale and am not a medical student, I am concerned about one of the faculty members that is teaching at Yale School of Medicine, Thomas Kimberly. He is (or at least was) a Lecturer in Emergency Medicine there, and the reason that concerns me is because back when he practiced medicine, when I was a patient at Yale New Haven Hospital's ER with clear signs of heart failure, Thomas Kimberly (who was an APRN at the time and was treating me) didn't order the proper diagnostic tests for someone with heart failure symptoms. My diagnosis was missed (because of his mistake) and I was admitted "for observation." A few days later in the hospital, once my heart condition was discovered, one of the doctors told me that "a mistake has been made, my condition was overlooked." The doctor (who informed me that a mistake had been made) told me that if the person who saw me in the ER (Thomas Kimberly) ordered the proper diagnostic tests, my heart condition would have been found/diagnosed immediately, and I would have been prescribed the heart medications I needed right away… rather than a few days later. So, I gave my medical records to a lawyer, and he had other doctors look at it. They came to the same conclusion… that not ordering the proper diagnostic tests delayed my condition from being discovered, resulting in me not receiving the heart medications I needed until later. If Thomas Kimberly is still teaching there, or anywhere for that matter, hopefully he teaches his students that when a patient has clear symptoms of heart failure, make sure to order the proper diagnostic tests for someone with heart failure symptoms, rather than mess up (like he did) by not doing so.Connor Etter

They allow their Assistant Professor of Pasychiatry (BandyLee) to use her political biases as a call for the emergency detention of a president for evaluation. She should be terminated and the school boycotted for employing this type of person. This school cannot be trusted to educate people in a non-partisan, responsible manner.Laura Lamb

If I could give this school no stars I would. My sister had a meeting with a Carole Pomarcio who is the nursing program director. She meets with each candidate before even reviewing their applications. She was extremely discouraging and told my sister to stick to her current career instead of following her dreams of becoming a nurse. My sister explained to her that this had been her passion for a very long time and Pomarcio told her nursing wasn't for her and that no school would accept her. She even discriminated against my sister stating that she would need financial aide and that financial aide would not cover the entire cost of the program , without even knowing my sisters financial status. She also said that my sister would need to get an "A" not an "A-" in every pre requirement class to even be looked at when the curriculum states you need a B or better. She suggested my sister become a volunteer in a hospital instead. Coming from a nurse this saddens my heart because I am a nurse and i'd never suggest that to a student no matter race gender or age. I would rather have a passionate nurse than someone who looks good on paper. There is something seriously wrong with the candidate selection process at this school and I am writing this review to help other students that are considering this program. This woman is suppose to be the face of the program and is deterring perfectly qualified students. My sister cried for hours. I was at the university for an exchange program. The nursing program was very well put together and staff there are amazing and i found very approachable atleat thw ones i had contact with.
