Solid school. Easy(ish) to navigate. Some of the buildings are far apart and depending on your classes you might have only 10 minutes to go all the way across campus. The staff is friendly and try to help anyone navigate the school, so don't worry! Each building is clearly labeled and maps are everywhere so it's hard to get lost. There's tons of socializing areas and seating for different gatherings. Some of the popular places would be the courtyard with the fountains or the large hill in the center of campus. The campus also has a variety of food options, so whether you want smoothies, coffee, pizza, pastries or a salad there are options all around!Zena Krimzon

They have no idea how to teach what you will need in the state of Kansas. They will use other professors lectures and do not want to answer questions or teach you. So yeah if you want to teach yourself from a book and have a bunch of assignments due constantly this is the place for you. You will find yourself googling topics and watching YouTube videos to learn it. Multiple (at least 3 that I know of) people in my class complained to the chair.C

I am taking a welding certificate so I can work in the welding workforce. I want to work for the olathe railroad welding force after college. Then maybe do some underwater welding I have not quite decided. If I do I have to take a scubadiving class to get certified in that. I'm a recent graduate of the LPN program and currently an RN student. The nursing program for me has not been an easy one, I have run into a lot of personal challenges inside of my own life with family and other issues. One thing I know for sure, is that the staff at lake area want you to succeed and are always there to help when you need it. I don't always agree with their methods however they are always willing to listen and try to make their program better through any suggestions. The instructors of the nursing programs have a lot to deal with, students including myself are very emotional and the instructors do their best to help us power through. Lake Area technical college also has counseling available for free to any student and it is exceptional. The college wants you to succeed, they are always there to help ,you just have to ask for help. I am forever changed for the better because of the kindness generosity and patience of the instructors as well as other staff at lake area. I can't compare it to any other college, because I have not had an experience anywhere else but if you are looking for a place that you can have a good support system with people who love their job, strive to always do better, and sincerely care about you then this is the place for you.Desirae Snyder

Incompetent….called to verify my daughter's tuition amount the gal told me two different amounts. Then when I went in to pay I asked them to verify all classes and credits were accounted for and she confirmed they were. I was then given a different amount then what I was given on the phone.A month later I am told I owe them more money , when I asked why they told me credits were added after my payment was made that day. The staff obviously can't read a computer screen when asked. When I confronted them on it, I got a run around , they wouldn't take responsibility for the error. They were told that they would not get a dime if my child attends next fall until a print out of everything is given to me and all classes and credits are accounted for so prevent this from happening again. I have other children who have attended college as well as myself and I have never had a issue like this.Amanda Anderson

Both my wife and I were returning college students and Stark State Alumni class of 2012. We both received a great education. She went for respiratory therapy and I went for Graphic Design. The graphic design program was wonderful. The professors were all very knowledgeable and really cared about their students (huge shout outs to Michelle Lash and Eugene Starr). The classes are small and it's very easy to schedule time with the professors if you need help or need to go over some things. It's also nice to have online classes if that's your thing. For the younger students (and older alike), Stark State also hooks you up with SALT at no charge after graduation, which is a useful tool to help find employement after graduation. Luckily I furthered my career without having to use SALT. The biggest recommendation I could suggest would be to offer more of certain classes. Sometimes only one class is offered a semester and can conflict with working hours. Thank you, Stark State and to all of my professors for giving me a great education and giving me a fighting chance in the workforce after graduation. For those who are seeking four year degrees and beyond, Stark State is definitely a great (and affordable) place to start.stephen slusny

I attended Stark State College a number of years ago when it was Stark Technical College. I am surprised by the negative reviews, because I had a great experience at the school. I graduate with a degree in Computer Technology, and the courses were challenging and taught me a lot. I still remember some of the great instructors like Mrs. McBride in my math classes. I even worked there part-time for about a year doing LAN Administration. They have provided me with a foundation for a very successful career in IT. I later completed my Bachelor degree at Kent State. I am currently completing my MBA. I was able to get a copy of my transcripts, even after graduating 25 years ago, by faxing in a request. I did this for two different Universities, and they arrived within a week. In this age there should be a way to do it electronically like Kent State, but at least they do not charge you for them. Overall I had an excellent experience and they prepared me for a very rewarding career in Computer Technology. I absolutely have no regrets about this school, and I enjoyed my time there.Kevin Frazier

I can not believe Stark State has less than 4 stars! This is my second semester and I LOVE it! The faculty are truly amazing and extremely helpful! This college also offers small class room sizes which makes learning more personal. Your teachers and professors always do their best to know each student by name. It is also extremely great for working folks who have busy work loads. They have many courses that can virtually work with any type of schedule. There are many success programs that Stark State offers, including assistance with any subject as well as a great Accommodations program for those with any learning disability/disability from minor to severe. Stark State also always keeps their students in the know through text message and emails. They give you the tools you need in order to succeed. Highly recommend this college!elisabeth brian

I recently finished my second Technical degree for Metal Fabrication as a returning student. I delayed going back to school for years for lots of reasons, but mostly because I thought it would be as awful of an experience as High School was. Instead the teachers in my program were excellent. I was always challenged by the projects and supported in my learning in equal measure. If you're looking to get into welding or Metal Fabrication, these programs are career fields that need people, pay well, and you can learn them here! Don't sleep on the trade skills that can be taught here. Go to the open houses, see if these are things you're interested in doing. A 4 year degree isn't The guarantee of employment it used to be, but these one year Technical degrees, leading to in demand fields are.Travis H

Very nice tech college. Almost everyone you come across on campus can point you in the right direction. I just started school today online. But tomorrow I get to go to campus. It's a clean sanitary environment. There is currently some remodeling going on, so part of the building you cannot access… yet! AC was on, felt awesome. temperature didn't change much room to room either. All the employees seem to know their job very well and are willing to help. I chose Madison Area Technical College because I know many people that have graduated and successfully got into a job they wanted. This school is also smaller than UW Madison so I feel like the learning experience is better, more hands on, more participation versus a large school such as UW Madison.Shane Toycen

The good profs here are all just professors moonlighting from UW Madison, I'd honestly say you should apply to and go to literally any other UW system school before here. The quality of education isn't bad- but they somehow managed to misplace finances and put 650 bucks into collections randomly – without mailing me any notifications, and without a notifications on the online portal. You won't get competency from any of the administrative staff, expect 5 week long waits to see a counselor for any sort of urgent need. If you are a student with a disability – make sure you have additional copies of any medical documentation, they will claim to lose it. Most of the education staff despises the administrative staff and yeah, I can see why.Bee

A good school where you get out what you put in. Many trains stop within walking distance and buses as well. Just like any college, depending on your major, you will find good and bad professors. So always make use of the rate my professor website. I had a very pleasant experience. The administration was more competent than other schools I went to and my issues were always solved within a reasonable amount of time. The facilities I had to use for my major were in even better condition compared to some four year schools. The wifi coverage was good. Plenty of cafeterias with the best one being in the E building. Plenty of food trucks with different types of foods. Lots of seating areas with electrical ports. The class scheduling was workable with enough sections to fit almost everyone. Can't speak for any other major but it felt like that overall. They are always hiring new adjuncts so it's not the same professor teaching that one section you need all the time that everyone says is horrible. Always stay on top of your things if you want to have them resolved quickly. That's the part you play in your college years. The hand holding stops after High School. All I can say is, relax a little and have some fun. At the end of the day grades won't show the strength of your character after all is said and done.Mounia B

It seems like professors like the one I got Professor Arnold who acts likes she is going through the motions and don't there . i felt I waste my time and money which I paid out of pocket in her class and is thinking about leaving the college. She is one of the worst teachers/professors i ever had . I think cause it a community college a lot of them are mad cause they can't teach in a four year college through out of the community colleges in NY LaGuardia is the best . That being said she is the third professors that I had that sleeps walks through their class and I had another one that did something that weren't cool and I didn't show up for her class and never got an apology from her. Im currently in my last year at LaGuardia (majoring in business) and i have to say the Business department is full of AMAZING professors. Classes are really easy (most of them except accounting unless you're good at it) and the students are cool. I, personally, never talked to anyone or made any friends because I'm not an outgoing person. The school is constantly going under renovations and they just finished the new library and it looks AMAZING, as if it was a library from an ivy league. Food isn't that great but what do you expect, its school food [not free of course]. Great school for engineering and decent for nursing. Business school will depend on your work and the professors you choose(from 1-4 ⭐️). The support sucks. Try calling financial aid or student accounts and you know how living in purgatory feels like. One hour of waiting on the line is typical and if you wanna use the outdated mymav website to get help without calling them, good luck 😉 The number in the picture below belongs to student accounts department who will drop you from all your classes when u owe money so you need speed dealing with them. I suggest you’ll go there physically even if you’re infected with Covid19 as you have a better chance of reaching them in person. If I could give this university a zero star, I would do it. As an international student, I have millions of terrible experiences with this university. The graduate school and the international students office have been really really rude. They will try to frustrate you using any way they could. Also, the insurance requirement for international students have been so unfair. They will charge you lots lots of money for the insurance for the summer time even though you are not enrolled in any classes during the summer. Also, the staff working in the graduate school have been so rude and know very little. Some of the graduate and undergraduate classes have been so meaningless and do not worth the money.yaqing cao

Atm a lot of construction is going around the university. Either adding new school building, dinning areas, or apartments around the school. The gym is great, great gym equipment, indoor track, and classes that you can sign up for if you do not like working out alone. Building are easy to locate but if you have trouble finding them people will be nice to direct to the correct locations. I have had an amazing experience with Herzing University! I am excelling in my degree choice and I couldn't be more satisfied with my learning experience and the flexibility that the online program gives me.The instructors are all willing to help whenever I have a question, and if they see many students struggling with something, they will post an announcement with some helpful tips on how to proceed through our courses. The learning material is easy to understand, the discussion boards really help me connect with my classmates more than I normally would, the library is full of everything you might need for your studies, and the Coach rooms and Tutoring center are very helpful! I have seen many posts off and on about how students struggled in this school. I have to say the most common thing I see students struggling from in these courses is not doing the assigned work on time, not participating in the discussions, and not following the assigned directions on assignments. We have to take responsibility and do our work (on time!) or we will not succeed, and we should not blame someone else for our lack of trying. Just with everything else in life, if you do not put any effort into something, you will not gain anything from it. I stared with Herzing back in 2013 for my undergrad BSN RN. At that time, school was still establishing itself, therefore, I had some rough time getting through the program, but overall my experience was good. This year I came back for my MSN FNP and let me tell you ))) My experience with Herzing in 2019 is absolutely amazing. This school grew so much! Lots of support, any time you need it, everyone is very attentive and friendly. You still have to do a lots of studying, but isn't what we came here for? Think twice before attending this institution. I was enrolled to begin classes in the fall semester. One week before they began, DCTC contacted me saying they no longer offered the program that I signed up for. Again, ONE WEEK before classes began. This left me almost no time to scramble around looking for another school to attend for the fall semester. That kind of behavior is unacceptable and extremely unprofessional. The whole process just felt off anyway. They were always slow to respond, they fought every step of the way when I presented transfer credits from another institution. I was somewhat relieved in a way knowing I wouldn't have to deal with them any further. What a waste of time.Adam

Didn’t have the best experience overall. The instructor for the automotive technology class was only genuine once while he was teaching me something. Every other time, there was sarcasm and rudeness when trying to ask him questions. Not to mention half of the kids (quote “kids”) in the class were constantly on their phones and messing around. I wouldn’t have minded, except that we were placed in groups, therefor graded as a group. Someone from admin called me a year or so after graduation and asked if I had gotten anywhere with my degree. Such a terrible experience trying to just consider registering, that I am now no longer interested. I called to make an appointment with an academic adviser. I was put on hold for 20 mins without ever speaking to a human or given any other option. After 20 minutes, I hung up and called the main number. She said, "well, I can't do much, but they have direct number I can transfer you to." So, she transferred me. To some random faculty member in some department I had no interest in. That person was very nice and told me she'd walk my request over, and have someone call me back from advising. They did call me back to set up an appointment, which we did. However, I was driving and couldn't write down the details, so she assured me she would email me all the info. Of course, I never received the info. So, I just called to cancel my appointment. The overwhelming impression I got was one of incompetence, inefficiency, and that the right had didn't know what the left had was doing. Oh, and it's a half hour wait on the phone to even speak to the right hand. I was a new student, contemplating studying here. But after the way I was dealt with on the phone on my very first interaction, I now have ZERO interest in attending, and will continue my search for a school that has its act together, and knows what they are doing. I have had nothing but Positive Experiences since I have been at Edmonds Community College for the last 4 months now. I am going through the Workfirst Program at the Gateway Bldg. They had me go through the Solid Foundations Course & a College Sucess course. before I started my summer courses of Math, English; Critical Writing, & another 2-credit Write class. All of the Instructors that I have had are amazing, they helped me in every aspect of figuring out what I wanted to take by different surveys & then they help to walk you through getting your all of your Financial Documents in order & get registered for all of my classes over the next 2-years while I am working on my Degree. Your Education has gone elsewhere. Programs last year were changed invalidating most of my credits. Classes they used to offer in Math and Sciences are no longer being offered despite having brand new facilities just built. It is going through a strategic pivot from a transfer and foreign exchange college to a "social improvement" center. This University is not a safe place to send your child if you care about them and their safety. I spent two semesters living on campus, my freshman year and they were the worst months of my life; communal bathrooms are not clean, things are broken often and do not get fixed, and security cameras are few and far between. The campus itself is not in a good neighborhood, which is a common fear of most people. Administration has done nothing to make the campus safer, there are not any cameras in parking lots, the cameras in the municipal parking garage do not work, and people are able to walk on to campus even if they do not attend the school. Young children steal student's bikes in broad daylight and grown adults walk onto the campus as well. The cafeteria food is not good and the staff is 99.9% of the time very rude, and you may get a plate of food thrown at you even if you are polite. I have witnessed people be served raw chicken, romaine lettuce when there was an E. coli outbreak, and also contract E. coli. The Bursar's office constantly removed and added money to my account saying one day I owed X amount of dollars and then one day I owed Y amount of dollars, and whenever I asked why my balance fluctuated during the semester, they had no answer. Financial aid is not easy to deal with especially if your family makes a mid-range income. If you household income is low or very high, do not expect to pay a lot per year. The social environment is like high school: judgmental and everyone stays in their own "clique" The only reason I will give this "university" a 2-star review is because the professor's do care about you and your success. They will work with you, and help you when need be. Every professor I had only wanted their students to succeed, and nothing else (with the exception of a woman who just had graduated from college and did not know the subject which she was teaching).Ashlynne Donovan

This school is one of the best veteran friendly schools in the U.S. currently we are in the top 100, we even have our own USO sponsored lounge called the defenders den where we can be around fellow veterans. The classes here are incredible and the professors genuinely care and thrive off interaction. You will not become another gear in the chain at this university, also the campus even though small is absolutely gorgeous. The worst school ever! I did a year at JU and lived on campus! there is nothing to do! You will be bored out of your mind if you are from the north. The staff was unhelpful, and forget about getting any extra financial help. This heartfelt review is difficult for me because I actually attended Alvin junior high and Alvin high school off and on throughout my 12 years. I love this town. I was happy to attend this college for that precise reason. However, there were many many obstacles I went through to get my degree here. Frequently, I had to wait my opportunity cost between a poorly taught class, and a class dedicated towards my profession. This should not be happening. Two things caused this. Professors who do not calculate the time required to perform homework and assignments out of class Is one. The second cause were professors who should not be teaching at all. They are either rude, careless Or have some type of issue within their person. Every semester I had a professor like this even after referencing rate my professor. Eventually because of this college hiring so many professors with personal issues it eventually cost me my accumulative science and math GPA to fall under. Consequently, I would not qualify to enter into university science or math department. Every semester on student loans, I worked 10 hours a day for seven days a week for two years. There should have been no reason why my grades were affected. However, how a professor teaches is one of those things that an individual has absolutely no control over. Because of the poor department management and analysis of teaching from professors by administrative, I will no longer be able to pursue the group degree I intended on pursuing. As a compromise, I had to apply for graduation for a general studies associates to leave this college peacefully, and it not destroy my loan approval or potential to graduate in four years. Best degree plans for this college are governments, English, etc. Stay at another community college for science and math because these departments are seriously on organized and not monitored.Shauna Herrera

Keep Alvin Beautiful greeted at the Alvin City Fall cleanup. Texas Pride and others showed up 2 collect all kinds of trash and recycle. Really impressed with everybody that I got to work with as they had a great attitude and even though most were new to the event they jumped in and made things work well. Really proud of everybody who participated and made this a great event and keeping our city sparkling Update: the EMS and police cadet departments pulled together to do a huge exercise for the training of their students. Using the building abandoned building across the street they staged a mass shooter that the police cadets had to take out and then they pulled in the EMS students to help pick up and treat all the wounded. Was a terrific activity and professionally done. Very fun to participate in as a victim. Update: we had the spring Alvin clean up and had the best participation ever. 151 people brought all kinds of trash, metal recycle, electronics, batteries, paper shredding, and green waste to be recycled. Great place to take classes. My son takes classes here in the summer to transfer to his 4 year university. He has enjoyed all of his professors. I like the school because they have a great enrollment process. They've got a waiting area and they call you up by name and clearly post your name on monitors. I only give 4 stars because of their police department. If you pull through a parking space-ticket. They watch every vehicle and the slightest parking lot infraction can bring a quick ticket. They're using it as a money generator. You've got to read their police handout. A lot of rules are in place that aren't posted and a visitor can quickly find themselves ticketed. I went to Delaware County Community College part time for four years after high school. It's one of the best decisions I ever made. I really didn't know what I wanted to do right out of high school and I didn't want to go to a super expensive university and still not be sure. I started out with general studies. I just finished my Liberal Arts associate's degree there this past spring. I enjoyed my time at this school. I got to take a lot of different classes to really figure out what I like and what I dislike, and it's way more affordable to do that here. The campus is beautiful, especially the STEM center. There's lots of helpful services and the professors I had were great. I'm now transfering to another school to study graphic design and I feel like DCCC helped me get on the right track. The cost isn't horrible and the classes are similar to classes offered by four year universities. The problems I have lie with the administration (financial aid, career center, cashier office.) They do not know how to deal with students in a timely, concise manner. I was unable to get in and complete a single course for the last two years due to administrative problems, even though I had been with them previously. I went here from fresh out of high school from 2016-2019 and graduated there with my associates. Such a Beautiful campus and I had a very great experience at DCCC, I’ve had some pretty good professors during my time there although some did seem to only be there for a check. During my time here I was also in the KEYS program and they have such wonderful staff very helpful and friendly. How does a college have a faculty that can't answer any questions pertaining to activities that go on campus. there are 4 kids to a room and marijuana smoke fills the air. You complain to faculty that you were not around anytime that this is found by staff with proof of your where abouts each and everytime. I don't smoke at all. I have a scholarship to go to this school and they kicked me out due to no one coming clean about the marijuana. I don't think I was treated fairly. I don't go here nor do I know anyone who does. We visited for a wrestling tournament. The gym they used was utterly disgusting. Dirty as hell. Garbage was shoved everywhere. There was a baby bottle!!! This is right when they opened. You are going to tell me there is no custodians or even volunteers to clean it up knowing there are visitors coming?? This college misguides students frequently. Be careful what your advisor tells you and they tend to swap your own major without your permission. I’ve lost thousands of dollars due to the unmanaged people that work here. This place has a low tuition cost for a reason. As the mom of a college student who had to leave a private, out of state institution for medical reasons, I came into contact with BCCC when my son was ready to obtain further credits. The administration was so very helpful, from applying for appropriate courses, to registering and payment. My son has not yet graduated, but the experience at the local community college was excellent. BCCC also has programs in which high school students with special skills or talents can participate in college level work. Both the high school and BCCC were extremely helpful in this regard. High school credits were obtained with no tuition payment. Finally, I am a sunset photographer. The high hill on the campus overlooking the baseball field just off Swamp Road is a very nice vista for sunset shots!!Carol Geibe

First off the price is great. The campus is really nice. I liked the professor's a ton. There were some really good teachers. When I transferred out most of my credits went to Penn state without an issue. I see a few reviews on here talking about bad teachers. This is not a BCCC problem, it's a college problem. I had just as many bad teachers if not worse teachers at Penn State as I did at BCCC. Expect it, accept it, and work harder in those classes. It's only 16 weeks folks. If you are looking to see if college is for you or just starting back up with your education I think it's a great place to start.Mike Carson

The campus itself is clean and the security is friendly. As for the professors I had in my two year stint here, many of them were awesome people and very helpful as teachers. I feel I have learned a lot from having knowledgeable teachers such as Professor Beers in the math department and Professor Bresnen in the music department. All in all, for the most part the staff here seems to care about their students' success and I have had many more pleasurable teachers here than I expected.Dan

I appreciate Rasmussen University for having an abundance of resources and many professors and other staff members who demonstrate they want students to succeed. I especially have enjoyed being a peer educator, being privileged to work with Tammy Hopps who is an excellent supervisor and leader, and also being able to work with other peer educators who care for their peers as much as I do. I transferred from a local state college, which I considered sticking with to save money, but in reality, not much is saved when you compare the timeframe for graduation. At the state college it would take me an extra 2 whole years to receive my BSN, whereas at Rasmussen I save 2 years of time because of their second-degree BSN option. I am very pleased with the quality of technology – at the state school blackboard and other resources were slow and did not work as well on my cell phone, whereas with Rasmussen I can easily access everything I need from my phone when I'm on the go. It's inspiring to see so many single parents and married parents in school, some of which also work full time or part time like myself while completing their degree. I had such high hopes when enrolling at this school. However my experience hasn't been favorable at all. I am a current student and I was disappointed because even though I was able to enroll and start classes I really felt unsupported on this journey. I'm realizing Rasmussen may not be the school for me. I REALLY thought I would be supported and encouraged. I was made to feel that Rasmussen would be rooting for me through my academic journey. Instead I am bombarded with emails and calls telling me what I already know… I owe money. No calls or emails about how I can be helped to budget so that I can pay more toward the balance. I'm only being told: what I owe, to get the balance down to $500-$1000 and to take out loans; which will only put me in debt and it's too early to be taking out loans when I've been in school since September of 2021 and have 2 more years. Also this school doesn't cater to single parents, limited income and individuals that HAVE to work. This school ONLY has day classes for the nursing program and as I said before I HAVE to work full time.Sherria Clark

This morning I called the university for the North Orlando Campus for the Nursing program and spoke to the director of Nursing who was discusstingly rude on the phone. I called to get information, He had no patience and told me Not to proceed a career in Nursing because it was Not for me. This was a university that I was so excited to be a part of and be a graduate of Nursing. The director needs to be Fired because he is giving the university a bad reputation. To whom it may concern please take this review into consideration and hire a new director of Nursing for the program.Georgia Conde

This place is a perfect example of “you get what you pay for”. I attended September 2009 – May 2018 (with a 3 year gap from 2012-2015). The hospitality teachers and department head were wonderful, and a lot of my general Ed teachers were amazing too and I have nothing but great things to say about the teachers. However, the registrar office and academic advisors were a nightmare to deal with. No one ever smiles, my message NEVER got relayed to the right person, and it was such a headache to deal with offices equivalent to dealing with the DMV. They also claimed that when you graduate you can transfer your credits to a state college which is false. Some of the credits transferred, but classes like Math don’t transfer and I have to take a placement test to get into the same exact math class I took at Gateway and passed the class with an A. The bookstore staff was the most incapable, rude, useless group of people. Graduation was a completely unorganized joke – they told graduates to arrive 2 hours early to stand in a parking lot with no instruction and 1 porta potty for about 300 people. They also only announce 1 of your degrees – so if you have 3 degrees they won’t even take the extra 5 seconds to announce all 3 (I thought graduation was supposed to recognize your achievements?) I would have never wasted my time going to graduation if I knew how pathetic it would be. Parking on campus in New Haven was crazy and the lot constantly overflows into the Temple Street lot so you get to walk in stairways that smell like urine with bums roaming the lot and drunk people stumbling to their car after your class at 9:30 at night with no security guards to get to your car. Literally no security whatsoever like your completely on your own in a public lot in the heart of New Haven. Like most schools, they don’t allow weapons inside the building so you don’t even have a way to defend yourself if you get approached in the lot which will happen at some point. There were also hospitality classes that I had to buy things out of pocket and was promised reimbursement that never happened.Nina Tiso

I loved working with the children in the Early Learning Center, but the adults in the classroom didn't really treat me that well. They didn't really accommodating me that well when it came to tasks such as setting the table for breakfast,lunch, and snack. A coworker got nasty because I wasnt moving fast enough for her. I'm visually impaired and I have to take my time because of my vision. I had to complain about this coworker 2 times. Another thing that didnt make sense was I had to walk to the other side of campus to eat lunch for my 30 minute break. The teacher of the classroom would get mad at me for being late because I am a slow eater and I cant move fast again because of my bad vision. student teachers aren't allowed to eat in the teachers lounge. I shouldn't have had to complain to my boss about eating in the teacher lounge. This place needs to be more accommodating to student teachers with disabilities and staff needs to be more compassionate. I am very glad that I don't work at this place anymore! Beautiful atmosphere. I was in their old building on Long wharf years ago, and seeing how they've grown and progressed into what I consider a university now, is life changing for the people attending this college. For a community college, they offer so much for the students with assistance as well as their educational endeavors. Their cafe offers delicious varieties which includes a wide range of healthy choices. Very inviting environment for the students to learn in. Honestly, should have listened to everyone discrediting this school. Cheaper ain't better. This school has stressed me out and I've only been attending for one semester. They keep changing my aid amount, will not reimburse my refund and all together have made my college experience a nightmare in hell especially with me working full-time. It always something new going on with my financial information for the following semester and new requirements that were completed prior to me attending resurfacing. Who has the time to keep re-ensuring that they're getting the money they already previously accepted? It doesn't matter how early you send your FAFSA in, they will find a way to have it reprocessed so late that you won't recieve the amount you already accepted. Honestly, I want to withdraw this semester but my grades are so high it would be no point.Jazmyliena Martin

Very poor experience, people don't care about the disabled students, they had charged me over $1k for not helping me get into my classes and they've abandoned me in 2010. One star for absolute failure. Edit: 9/14/2022 this so-called trio program from Owens community college isn't helpful not resourceful of how am I supposed to go to college, they sign me up late not knowing I'm missing out on my assignments and these advisors in the school are lazy and rude like they don't care for the disabled students such as myself. Attended Owens and completed an Associates degree in 2001. Returned to a local area 4 year college to complete a Bachelor of Science. Due to the high cost and mediocre experience. I chose to take as many transfer classes as possible at Owens. A full time semester was a fraction of a 4 year college semester. Pretty rigorous course material and most importantly, courses are well structured, you could actually work ahead following the syllabus. Students and staff are pleasant. Have my 4 year degree, and returning to Owens for certificate programs to fill in the gaps from said 4 year college curriculum.Brent A.

Word of advice: try and transfer out of this ghetto school as soon as possible. It'll save you the headache. TAKE ONLINE CLASSES! That way, you will not have to deal with their crap. The only good thing you'll find about this school is the cheap tuition, some good professors if you can find the right ones. So far, I managed to have good ones. And a few nice students along the way. But the unprofessional, unorganized with the admins, staff, etc is a nightmare. I'm speaking from experience with the financial aid and trying to sign up for classes. They act like they don't know what they're doing. Not to mention, you try to be friendly and they give you attitude like you did something wrong. Plus, the staff and admins are incredibly immature and straight up bullies. When you ask for help, they will act irritated, rude or expect you to it yourself. You know that you are going to be around students all day long, and if that is something you cannot handle or deliver civil professionalism, then why are you working here to begin with? Oh yeah, because they just hire anybody, and just hungry for a paycheck. Oh and also, people just tell you different answers or just straight up lie to you. If I had the choice, I would not spend another semester here for another minute. They really need to do something about this ghetto, unprofessional, unorganized, low class school and hire better admins, staff, etc too. I'll be so glad when I'm able to leave this school because I will not miss it. I'm sticking to my statement that Virginia schools are better. Also, another thing to add is that the advisers do not know how to do their jobs! They are just there for the title, so know what YOU want and YOUR plan, because these advisers will just tell you anything. In addition, they will act so conceited to make you look stupid. That's why I'm going with my own plan, and I can't wait to leave this school in the spring of 2018. It has been nothing but very poor. They just want your money. This school is nothing but a joke. I hated this college including all staffs, administration and president of this college I had many issues with back when I was attending this college. Yes, I graduated in 2004, made very high grades and achieve my goals, but the President of this college did nothing about my situation. She failed to do her job claiming that she will not bar a student for harassing me. She is very lucky I did not sue her before I graduated. Other people has complained about allowing non-visitors attending to this school for no reason. This brings a major concern about safety. I would advise no one attend to this school. It sure has very poor administration. I do not care what that president said, she is a very poor administrator. I am glad I am moving out of this state and I will be a excellent administrator this president of this college. We need to hire new administrators in this college and make changes in this college and other schools. I wonder why there are so many bad reviews about this school. It's not as bad as I thought or as I read. Yes, I did have a bad impression at first because I was supposed to take four courses, now I'm taking three because of their carelessness. But that's the only problem I've encountered here. My professors are good. I read bad reviews about the financial aid also but there was no problem with my financial aid and everything went smoothly. Overall, this school is not so bad. If I could give this institution zero stars I would be. Don’t waste your time with GCC, they will waste your time and money without any doubt in my mind. Don’t fall for the “it’s a beautiful campus” thing, because for example the nursing program is going downhill according to some alumni I’ve spoken to, who are now clinical instructors. I would never even refer to this place as a school let alone a college. Being a transfer student, I have experience with other more legitimate schools and universities. Professors will tell you they are there to help, but seem somehow to make themselves as inaccessible as possible. I wouldn’t recommend their nursing program to anyone.Joe Cooper

Monday I went to Genesse College for my COVID (Janseen)shot !I have to say they were wonderful!I arrived early,they took me right away,the only side effect was a headache,little pain in my arm!!!! The institution harasses students for vaccines and otherwise caters to their students like they are preschoolers. It's a far cry from past generations of education. Our tax dollars are exporting immoral unethical illiterates unprepared for the workforce.M M

buses and parking are nightmares here. No parking or you will have to pay everytime you park including weekend whereas other schools often free. Buses always late and full. The school not even tried to get more buses. Also, there is 40mins wait between 2 buses. Finally, unequal opportunity for on cambus job or help. We came to many departments and asked for help but they rarely tried to solve but kept saying we could not do anything. And we came back multiple time and the other did help us out. So what is the point of saying we cannot do anything when another people in the department can? unequal training? Also, if you are looking for a job here, good luck!duc nguyen

I enjoyed my time at UNT, made some great friends, and I have good memories. However, this University is not longer a place of higher education but a political activist training ground. I never thought that I’d see the day that The First Amendment would not be honored at UNT, but that is what has happened. And to think I have a degree in Criminal Justice from there is similar to being trained as an EMT by Dr. Kevorkian. Awful….it’s too bad that I will not be able to hire any students (or UNTs “product”) from here as it’s just too risky. Same with giving to the Development office.Where's Waldo?

The Grad program is a joke. I've never met more people incompetent of doing their job. The undergrad school should conduct training with the grad school to get them up to par. Because they dropped the ball, I now get stuck with their issues. Also the elderly lady working in billing should take a phone etiquette class. We are in 2022. There shouldn't be this many issues consistently happening. Yet, the undergrad side was on top of every single aspect.
