Great school for a community college. I heard it’s the best around. Many students come from San Diego or from the North just to go here. They do a lot of things by hand (compared to other schools that do things electronically). The grounds are well kept. The parking is horrible during the beginning of the semester. More parking will be available as time comes. When you register for a class, you need to pay the same day or you get dropped. If you’ve dropped a lot of classes, the school might give you a hold because the classes are impacted. There is a daycare center. Parking permits and books are relatively cheaper than most.Aurora A

Good School. The campus is breath taking. Views of the ocean in the dining hall and surrounding areas. Tons of plants and trees all around, a great variety. Staff are helpful. Parking is a struggle, unless you don't mind parking in dirt lots but then it's not worth buying a parking permit. As for professors and academia, they could improve. Check professors ratings onlines some teach to only one or two learning styles. The classes are pretty easy. Maybe to easy.Michael

I am currently in the vet tech program( just finished term 1 and starting term 2) here are a few things I wish I knew about the program before I started. UPDATE!!! STRONGLY suggest getting your generals done else where!!! Almost done with term 2 and Looking back, the program would be soo much easier if you were just taking the vet core classes. Seriously.. if you are really thinking about going here fresh out of high school and think you are going to be fine with the work load you are in for a rude awakening.. just please take my advice and get your generals done somewhere else. You will actually enjoy your time here if you are just taking the vet core classes because the vet related classes and the generals work load at the same time is extremely stressful because again you will be taking roughly 20 credit hours( that’s general classes and vet core classes) AND the material is very rushed. -curriculum is extremely rushed -instructors are a hit or miss (3/5 instructors were really great and knew what they were talking about and we’re able to explain really well, other 2 did not know the material and did not know how to effectively teach/explain/ or answers any questions about the material they were teaching. Pretty much had to self teach in both classes) -the parking situation is a hot mess. Parking on campus is extremely limited and the street parking is a joke. -The remediation assignments (Student services assigns you an extra assignment on top of your homework in whatever class for being 15+ minutes late or missing the class or leaving 15+ minutes early ie. Handwritten 100 bullet points on the slides of the power point you missed. The instructor then has to sign off on it and you turn it into student services no later than 1 week of the absence/tardy) is extremely unnecessary and just adds more stress. -But all in all still a better program than any of the other schools I was looking into before I started the program. I’m still loving what I am learning about and the hands on labs are amazing. My classmates and I are extremely close and working together and helping each other study is a must to succeed in every class. If you do find yourself struggling there are so many resources the school provides to help you ie. free tutoring from a peer tutor, tutoring from your instructors per request via emailing them. Scheduling an appointment with the Student success coordinator (helps you plan your study schedule and helps with testing stragies). Just know this is a tough program because it’s rushed and you WILL be taking anywhere from 12-20 credits hours. ( this is decided based on if you have transfer credits from other colleges ie. math 1010, Biology1010, college writing, etc. I was taking 20 credit hours. I did not choose this, your schedule will be chosen for you by the school) and you will be eating, living and breathing veterinary medicine for the next 2 years. ( also I want to add that it is STRONGLY recommended that you DONT have a job. At least in 1st term. In orientation they go more in-depth about this. A lot of my classmates including myself quit our full/ part time jobs after 1 month in the program because it was too much) If this is something you think you can handle then it is definitely worth it!Kaitlyn Hart

This school has all the technology you could ever want, and provides a lot of support. I wish I could have afforded to go there. That’s the only downside, is the really high price. I should add, the price is high for a reason. They buy top of the line technology to teach their nurses and vet techs (those are the only things I’ve seen myself, and I am 100% sure they put the money into their other programs, too.) My current financial situation makes the school unaffordable, but the price is 100% worth it. I was going to make myself afford it until I was told about a deposit. I WAS shocked by the $400+ deposit they required during orientation (for the LVN program.) I wasn’t told about it except less than a week before orientation. There was really no iltime for me to prepare. My financial aid advisor, Vanessa, was AMAZING and tried everything to make the school more affordable. My academic advisor, Nikia, was the BEST. She really helped to make me feel comfortable and helped teach me more about the program.Jessica Laroche

The program I was in (vet tech) was great for the most part! However there was a lot of bumps in the 2 years and disorganization when I was there. Teachers were a hit or miss you could get a great one and would love that class, or you would get one you dreaded and never wanted to go to class. Being the first class to graduate from that program we didn't get all the amazing equipment that the students have now. This program over all is a great experience because when you are struggling or need help you can find teachers always doing tutor sessions or the LRC always is willing to help you learn things as well. they are doing the best they can to make sure things run smoothly from now on. I would recommend this course now because it seems like things will run smoother now that they learned from passed mistakes with my class.Allison Kunic

As a young man going to college for the for the first time, this was a great experience for me. I thought I would hate college, since I hated going to school my entire life, but wow this college is awesome. The school is really small. You will learn how to get around with ease. The campus is also on a hill, and surrounded by lovely nature, trees and animals of All sorts. Which I personally love. The tutoring system is amazing and I’m completely satisfied. I really abuse the math and English tutors everyday! The library is beautiful (my favorite place). The food though could use improvements though, but that’s about it. 99% of people are very friendly so it’s a great environment for me personally. I never thought I would love going to school until now thank god wow! I will never transfer to another college I love this place and I can wait to start school again. Rio Hondo has evolved so much since i first started taking classes in 2006. One of the things that hasn't changed is the attention and support that the staff give the students. Many new buildings like the library have been reconstructed and updated to accommodate the return of all the students back to campus after enduring the pandemic. Alos a good place to hike. you can take the far side entrance by the police academy and continue on up the side road all the way to the top. its pretty challenging but the views are great. Im currently taking a ceramics class, and its quite enjoyable and you get to take home all your completed work.Andrew Ramirez

Best Community College I have been to, they have a lot to offer. Their programs help to guide students into their specific major. The career counseling helped me realize which career I want to be in. Also I found the math lab very useful and they even offer it Saturday mornings. They have the best staff who are very knowledgeable and caring and listen to you and offer the best advice to achieve your individual goals. I was a student back in 2018. Came back for the spring 2022 semester, and the "president" Ms.Katrina VanderWoude, has ran this place directly into the bottom of the barrel. I remember when President Larry Frank was here. Good times. He was amazing. I never seen the problems I see now when he was here. Anyone else would have handled the pandemic better than VanderWoude. This used to be my favorite school, I was always saying to family and friends how much I loved trade tech. Well that time has passed. The outside of campus is filthy, the sheriffs are rude, they don't open the gates in the morning as they should, website is hardly updated, bookstore is garbage, no help for students in terms of supportive services etc. Its no wonder enrollment is low. LACCD can blame Ms.VanderWoude for that. The only upside is the professors. And yes I am fully aware Ms.VanderWoude is "Dr" but since lacks respect for students and staff then I will lack respect for her. Trade tech is my home school but I will be switching it to ELAC. That campus has surpassed trade tech in every possible way and I love going there for classes. I hope VanderWoude gets replaced soon for the sake of the campus.Karina Gomez

I am currently in the third semester taking the carpentry program. Los Angeles Trade Technical College is a great school. October will be 3 years that I have been attending this college. I also got my GED through Trade Tech.The majority of the professors and staff are very respectful and kind. Update I finished the carpentry program and found a job in the construction field with great pay. I would definitely recommend Los Angeles Trade Tech Technical College to someone that wants to learn a trade or just take some classes. HOT Mess. Vaccination Mandate rescinded. Jeopardizing everyone's health in hopes that more students will attend. Butchering of Food Security Program to make it unusable and pointless. Campus construction underway. ZERO signage. There are NO services available after 5. You can't even access the cafeteria area. If you're taking an evening class I hope you bought your own food, that doesn't need reheating or you can afford to buy something off site. Day 1 Air conditioning failures. Water fountains dysfunctional already. SMC is not at all ready to have students back on campus. And SMC does NOT care. Or rather SMC CARES… ALL ABOUT PROFITS. The campus here at SMC has gone quite the transformation in the past few years. The Science building and the Welcome center are completely new and look great. The only problem with the campus is the parking and lane infrastructure needs an upgrade. The lines of cars around campus affect the local community in a negative way. As a local resident, I think the campus should invest in buying more parking and perhaps adding turning lanes. Ubers used to block Pico for blocks but they fixed that. The campus is beautiful and even boasts a fourth of July fireworks show in the summers!! I just wish they would invest in the local traffic and help us regular folks out.Madie Parbaz

I am a homeless student. I have had many issues getting my financial aid money. Since the semester started I wake up on the street in tears. I feel very defeated with this process. They withhold aid for weeks on end after classes have already started. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL! They recently had an audit and I gave all bad reviews mainly because of financial aid. I’m exhausted, not motivated to engage in my full time course load. This is why some people make bad decisions in life. A system that does NOT have my best interest as a priority. I transferred here because it offered a program I wanted to take. The first time, the class was canceled due to there being not enough sign ups. Fine. That was Spring and now we’re in the Fall semester. Once again, the class was canceled. It was canceled 1 week before the 2nd session was to start. I now only have 2 classes (a 3rd one was dropped because it overlapped the class that was eventually canceled). My teacher is cool so, no complaints. My online class…. it takes my teacher 2-3 weeks just to grade your work. I’ve done online classes at other schools and was graded within the week. I’m going back to my previous school. I chose this college because it was ranked as one of the top ten community colleges in California for online courses. Diversity is great, many certificates and degrees offered, and the counselors I’ve spoke with over the phone were polite and helpful. They wait until more than a month into the semester to process student loans – and the form should specify that it’s for the year. I filled it out thinking it was only for the semester. No return emails from financial aid in the matter. Overall I would recommend WLAC, but their admissions and financial aid offices need to work on responding to students.Jason G

The school was okay. The admission office is terrible. I enjoyed the professors they have great ones. Working here was bad there’s nepotism and favoritism allowed. The staff isn’t the nicest I think student should be respected a bit more and heard. As an employee here I know I tried to help as many students sincerely. The process needs to be more efficient. Graduated here in 2018. Yes the school is not perfect. but it is affordable and offers all sorts of academic programs for students & for those who are interested in learning a new skill. A few issues with the homeless people who easily make their way in the school's restroom and leave all their mess inside. A bit more security is also needed because of the area surrounding the school, but overall it's a good community college. Looking back now, I miss every moment I got to spend here. Adventist Health Center is conducting a Vaccine center at The Glendale Community College in the parking structure at the top of the hill right off of the 2 Fwy Off the Mountain exit. The staff are very helpful. There is very clear and strict mandates on masks and health protocols. Please follow signage and bring your masks. You will need your ID for check in. The nurses are very helpful and many of them have worked in the ER with patients and have seen the effects of the pandemic. So most of them are very happy to administer the vaccine and help prevent the spread of this terrible disease. We are all so happy to share the change in the world and grow together. There is Hope and these are the people that are here to spread that hope. 3👍🏼’s out of 3👍🏼’s the staff and Nurses are very helpful and thoughtful.SEAN GONZALES

Theres an old Armenian blonde lady in Financial Aid office with glasses, shes honestly and honestly the rudest person ive ever seen in my entire life. I dont know what was going on in her life that moment but she did not help me whatsoever to give her drop off my fafsa documents about academic appeal that I received from the outstanding counselor here in GCC. The fafsa that lady referred me to find a random person to help me upload the documents into the website which she didnt even told me what website to upload to. Beauty and peace would describe this campus. A very serene environment on the hill overlooking a big part of Los Angeles. Large acres of grass with everything looking like in order and clealiness. One of the best schools/colleges in town. The Management is superb. The counselor is very helpful, understanding, appreciative and sympathetic to all students. The professors are great, proficient in their fields, very cooperative and proactive in helping you achieve your career choice. PROS: -Nearly all of courses are open enrollment, which makes it very easy to enroll. -There is a range of classes and many of them are offered both online and on campus. -The staff are very friendly and helpful. -The refunds department is very helpful. -Enrollment is easy to work with. -Certificate programs can be more applicable to real world than some undergrad degrees Neutral: -There is a clear distinction between UCLA and UCLA Extension. Cons: -No student ID cards are issued to extension students -Generally excluded from using library, recreational activities, some other resources that require a student ID. -You do not get a student email account -The extension parking permits are only usable after 4:30pm, so if you perhaps find yourself at the school to meet with your professor or student services earlier in the day, you will need to find another parking option. -The Data Science Intensive program is not worth the money. You will likely need to Google all your coursework and homework.Andrew Sein

I am extremely disheartened with the deterioration in student support services. Instead of passing the buck, pretending a request hasn't been received, asking for more steps to be taken, more hoops to be jumped, and employing diversion tactics, how about we all do our jobs and take accountability for our actions or lack thereof. Another problem is the staff doesn't stick. Students don't know whom to contact for any issues. One doesn't always want to bother the academic advisor or DSO. I do appreciate new initiatives. International students were thrown out of the country on July 6, 2020. We are dealing with the trauma of a disrupted life and demolished dreams. The new circumstances are not yet favorable for international students. I applaud the efforts of the school (UCLA Extension with UCLA) to help us cope in this regard even if some instructors don't get it.Rati Tripathi

UCLA Extension has shown themselves to be incredibly disappointing in how they support their students (they don't). With the recent administration ruling, which threatened international students' stay in the states, this institution has given students zero productive updates and guidelines. Nothing on their website. Nothing on their social media. They did not reach out to their students to show any solidarity in this very difficult and scary time. Avoid this place if you can especially if you're a student planning to study abroad. Just by their lack of response /especially/ during a time as difficult as this, they will not support you if anything else comes up. If you're looking for a school that cares about you and your education, and not just your money, THIS ISN'T IT. Find a school that cares.Nina N

From the first contact with our wonderful in take case manager Laura, to our tour of the hospital with the Director of Nursing, David and then the actual hospital stay for my father we were very impressed and made to feel comfortable and at ease with the care he was receiving. His nurses were so caring and nice. They took great care of him! His therapists were also so awesome. From speech therapy with Rachel and Amica who both went the extra mile. From physical and occupational therapy with Rachel, Bong, Ana, Hector and Marion who thought out of the box to try things with him. They always kept us up to date and when we couldn't be there due to covid restrictions they would facetime us for therapy sessions. The nurses would give great updates and take the extra time to set up facetime with my father. We really appreciate all of the staff! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. There are just too many names to mention. Also, we appreciated Kathleen the discharge case manager for working with us to get him to the next place on his recovery journey. Thank you to the entire Barlow hospital staff for all you did for my father and helping him with his recovery!Alisha Angulo

The Barlow family on the 3rd flow were such an Amazing blessing that I encounter. I’m so grateful that God bless me to go there for my treatment because I had been looking for a place that helps with every part of your body. And they were the team. It’s hard to put into words the support we received at Barlow Respiratory. When my dad was first transferred on full support of a ventilator, tracheostomy, and feeding tube… he was terrified to be there and although he had a rocky beginning, the nurses, the cnas, respiratory, and doctors turned his experience into something I can never thank them enough for… his anxiety was difficult to deal with but these nurses, CNAs, respiratory therapist went above and beyond to help him. They didn’t give up and for that we are grateful. All the support and extra time made a huge difference in my dads recovery. Barlow gave me piece of mind as well as the support that my family needed while my dad was a patient. Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️ I highly recommend this facility!Corrine Alanis

I have to represent my school! I dont know about the other programs but I finishes the LVN program graduated in Jan. 2015 the nursing department is amazing!! The school really goes above and beyond to train us and give us as much experience as they can. Shout out to Dr. Haney the nursing director!! Love this guy! He is a nurse and guess what also a Physician. We his students couldent be in better hands. Like every school they are not perfect but knowing you have a dedicated and devoted director that is willing to play theory instructor, clinical instructor, and spend his nights and weekends helping you and your education incase his staff fails, thats priceless! He is a role model to all students and staff and proves it if needed. I have the luxury to say a Dr. Was my theory instructor in nursing school and my classmates and I slammed dunked the NCLEX yeeea!! About job hunting I recommend alredy being in the field before you go spend $29k on a program obviously. I was alredy a CNA for 2yrs. And it was easier for me to get a job. Which I got right away by the way! $22/hr start off pay couldent get better for me and my family. I am so thankful to this school. Mr.Lee you are deeply appriciated and loved as well!Carla Espinosa

Staff was very nice. However, the ultrasound program is not accredited. When asked about if and how many students were employed here or near LA after graduation, they only kept saying examples of very few students that got employed in other states and small cities, pretty much anywhere that would overlook the program not being accredited because they needed employees. And even then it took them months to find the job. You can't sit for the ARDMS exam after graduation until after you have a year of full time paid work experience (which will be nearly impossible to find a job with out having done the exam or going to a caheep school.) Do your research please before picking a college for the AAS DMS program. This one wasn't the one for me. I decided to go to an accredited school which was only $1,000 more than WCUI. Worth the money because the school is very nice, modern, and its less of a hassle to sit for the ARDMS exam (which ima able to do quickly with out the paid work experience because of going to an accredited school.)Jennifer Martinez

West Coast Ultrasound Institute has been amazing to me, and every part of my experience they have been positive and given me high confidence that I made the right choice when I picked this school to get my training. The equipment is always available and the staff are super helpful, going above and beyond to help me when I need extra learning, and giving me encouragement when I’m on the right track. Fariba is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had in my life, she knows her stuff! As a lab instructor she is professional, Polite and she has great teaching skills, she cares about her students. When I need help she’s there, in class or out of class. Her instructions are very clear, with her lectures and techniques given to me and the other students to become more efficient sonographers. I know with these facilities and the staff here at WCUI, I’m going to be well prepared for a career in the field. I also just recently passed my SPI board exam. Study! You have to take it serious. Show up, participate, study, study again. I graduated in 2019 Dec. There are some things that I wasn't clinically prepared for once I was on my own. So be assertive when doing clinicals and learn. If you drive be prepared to pay for parking everyday at campus! We had validations but it still cost about 5 dollars. The teachers I had were very knowledgeable and they change throughout the year. Also the teachers gave me references and even job recs.. When I say knowledgeable I mean in the field and nursing stuff not on teaching lmao!! I didnt give five 5 stars because they need a guidance counselor, I dont like one of the receptionist, one of my teachers was very brash, I'm missing some clinical experience, parking, and 3 people I know forsure didn't graduate or get licensed because they couldn't pass ATI. Coming to Angeles college was an amazing experience. The staffs are really nice and Ms Lopez is an amazing teacher, everyone there are really helpful and they are willing to work with you on making it an amazing experience. I remember if I ever had any doubts or I needed help they're always willing to lend a hand. MS Lopez was an amazing teacher, she was my MA/phlebotomy teacher every time I had trouble or I didn't understand anything, she would always work with me and help me understand the material. Everyone who works in the front office are really amazing staffs. They help you set up your resumes, they explain how financial aid works, they help you work out payments, they also help with job search. It really is an amazing school.Kathy Ibarra

I do not recommend the school to anyone. I did not take the certified medical assistant exam right away and when I call them to ask them about it they said it was too late and I would not be able to take the exam. This is in fact not true. I found out I have 60 months from the time of graduation to take the exam. I misplaced my diploma and in order to get it they required me to come in in person and pay in cash and then return to pick it up. I need this diploma in order to sit for the exam and I work Monday through Friday 8 to 5. They are completely unwilling to work with me or help me. This is unlike many of the other schools available. I was very young and had no guidance at the time and will never recommend the school ever to anybody.coco cook

What makes this school great is the Job Placement Assistant Advisor Christopher Aono, he's a very Optimistic Guy full of energy always ready to help the Students. Although I only met Mr. Aono for only a month he has been very helpful for placing me in a clinic to do my Externship. From all the other staff he really reaches out from the rest by keeping in contact asking me how am doing at the clinic. Also he has a good Vibe that brings to the school and for him to be the First person to say congratulations to me for graduating and to say that he's proud of me for completing my hours and getting hired is overall great. The class and professor Dr. Rivera was great ! But lack of communication with students is what this school needs to fix on. It can be messy at times how they work. They give out checks and my last one was never given because it was given to the wrong student. I tried calling the school and they would transfer me to different line and it seems like no one picks up the phone at all. They just have you jumping around and it’s like no one can help you out after all and you gotta find your solution to your problem yourself.jenipher reyes

I had a great experience at this training center yesterday! This facility is friendly, has great equipment, small class sizes, and we were fortunate to have a very knowledgeable instructor, Doctor Sergio. We had 5 people in our class, and we were encouraged to practice our skills as many times as we needed. There was plenty of equipment, and the equipment was new and up-to-date. The prices are better than other centers, but they do not skimp on quality. They even had coffee, breakfast rolls and snacks for us! Wonderful school and very qualified instructors. I initially chose this school because it is close to my house, but I am very glad I signed up for their CNA program. Both the classroom and clinical instructors went above and beyond to make sure we were well prepared for the state exam, as well as the office staff, who made sure we had all the paperwork in order to receive our CNA license. I took an ACLS class at the North Hollywood location and loved it! The entire staff was very friendly and welcoming. Not only did I come out of the class learning a lot but I also had a lot of fun. The instructor, Sergio, was extremely educated and was extra patient with each and every one of us throughout the entire class. I graduated from CDI on June 2022! I passed my NCLEX on the first attempt with 75 questions! It was an amazing experience because of the friends I made along the road, helpful staff, and their financial aid! Kim Cooper truly wants to help her students succeed, but you have to put in the work and study hard! There were moments in which I thought I was not going to be good enough to become an LVN, but I made it! This school changed my life! The staff members are incredibly supportive and always available for tutoring or anything else that you may need to get you to the end of the program and NCLEX ready. Great, fun, and intellectually stimulating! My instructor was TAEZSA for my Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB /MOAB) certification class (required for healthcare workers) taught me the best life skills! I paid $70, which seemed steep. But hell no, it's not! I learned to get what I want without my usual pleading, begging, and arguing. I was required to take this class for a stressful job in the ER at a major hospital which treated a very challenging population that included the homeless and mentally ill. The skills Taezsa empowered me with my MAB class were so versatile: you can use them anywhere! Thanks to this class, I have become a more compassionate and aware person, much more attuned and perceptive to the discomfort experienced by those around me. I receive "Thank you"s all the time for speaking up for them and to stop the cause of their stress. Course provider Educate Simplify is also a very savvy with technology and social media and provided FREE PowerPoint slides and a humorous quiz before my class in order to prepare me. Every day, I use my MAB class skills to get people to stop smoking around children or nasty men to stop harassing young women. Educate Simplify..is in a single word FABULOUS!!!! It is a small CE office conveniently located on Wilshire Blvd…. the office space is quite comfortable and the cost of their courses is very reasonable. The business is owned by Olympia and has one other staff member Tasia…Both of these professionals are relax and knowledgeable in the material they instruct… both are welcoming and put you at ease the moment you walk in the door…. Tasia…is divine… Olympia is awesome… you attend the course do the work and you receive your certificate, CEU's on the spot or they file for you for your governing board,,YES it is that easy….. I graduated as a LVN from CES. I greatly enjoyed meeting some amazing people along the way, there are some great instructors, Ms. Holden is amazing with theory teaching, and Ms Adele and Ms Mariya are so helpful and full of information during clinicals. There were a couple teachers who came with some struggles, but nobody said nursing school is easy! I passed my NCLEX on my first try and felt the school did a great job preparing me, even during the struggles that came with finishing up in the middle of a global pandemic, the school did great to make sure we graduated in time. Overall was a positive experience and I would recommend them! The office staff is also helpful and usually responds quickly with questions.Gohar Powers

Incredibly unorganized!!! I called a week in advanced to schedule my assessment test. The clerk (lady) confirmed i was scheduled an appointment for 5:30 03/06/19. Sure enough i call an hour and a half to see if i can go a little earlier she then states no one was scheduled for an assessment knowing i had a long drive! If thats how they treat a potential student who is willing to invest time and money in this institution. I wonder how they deal with helping their students obtain jobs after graduation! I am completely amazed how they are still an accredited school.italo guzman

CES College is a fantastic place to learn. Great teachers at an affordable price. Prior to completing the Massage Therapy Program I took the MBLEX Exam and passed it on my first try. I’m now a certified massage therapist in the state of California and I was able to do it at CES College for 1/5 of the price of the some of the other schools out there.
