I attended Sullivan for their culinary arts program and I have some insight for future students going into the program. First being, have an idea for what you're wanting to achieve in life. Culinary school is very expensive for what you get and there are other, more cost efficient ways to achieve your goals. I recommend working in the industry for at least two years before you decide to go to culinary school. You will find a lot of well-known chefs didn't graduate culinary school. Everything you are learning in school can be self taught or learned in the industry.The key to becoming a great chef is the understanding of the industry. I say this all because at Sullivan its just a matter of time before you're screwed over by financial aid. The entire department is very disorganized. Important papers of mine seemed to keep going missing in their hands making my life very stressful. Also if you plan on doing on campus housing just DON'T. It is crazy expensive and it is exactly like high school. I loved my time at Sullivan don't get me wrong but is it worth the money you spend, NO.Annah Cecil

I haven't had any problems with Sullivan. I have been here for about 6 months and after attending JCC and UofL I must say Sullivan has already given me a much better experience. JCC and UofL let me (at 18) pick a bunch of random classes that were way too hard and never got back to me about any issues, it took way too long to get in touch with anyone for meetings or questions and at Sullivan they are always a quick phone call or office visit away. Teachers seem to really care and take the time to call you on their off time to congratulate you on good test scores, inquire why you are missing class, or pull you aside in class if you are on the brink or failing or even on the brink of getting an "A". If you don't miss a lot of class there won't be any problems, and there are even students in my classes who are active duty and miss class a lot and teachers have been as accommodating as possible. I can honestly say that transferring to Sullivan University from the University of Louisville was one of the best decisions I ever made. Class sizes are small, so it's easy to ask questions and get help if you need it. The instructor's here aren't just trying to "push you through", they actually care that you learn the material. The food served in the cafeteria is great and all of the staff/personnel are super helpful and friendly. My only complaint however would be the financial planning office. Some of the advisers can be kind of rude and you have to constantly call/send e-mails just to get a response for an appointment, in my experience. It's best to just show-up in person and request a meeting. Other than that, I would highly recommend Sullivan University to potential students.Brea M

If you're looking for an education in the medical technologies field this is the place! It is a private college so prices will be a little higher than a university but you get what you pay for. I'm not sure the reason for the negative reviews. It is an accelerated study program on the quarter system and they have a zero tolerance absence policy which may have caused problems for some. My experience has been quite amazing! The student to teacher ratio is lower than you'll find anywhere. All of the instructors and staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. They'll almost bend over backwards to make sure you have every tool and opportunity you need to be successful. Also I have to mention the job placement rate they have after graduation. In the field I'm studying it is a 100% employment rate. The lowest placement among the fields is around 95%. You really can't beat that!Philip Sewell

My wife has attended this school, did everything go smooth, no, but any school that you attend after high school is not going to go smooth. Look, this school like all other schools of higher education, has issues, and those issues are being worked out, worked out for the good of the school, which in turn benefits the students. You go to school to get a higher education, not to party. Working in the medical profession, you need to have your game face on not your clown face. The medical profession is no joke, this is serious, your dealing with peoples lives. This school does everything it can to get you prepared to handle the seriousness that comes with this profession, they even go as far as to help you help you find employment. The nursing program is unorganized and they just want your money. The dean is no help and is always on the side of the professors. Sometimes we don’t have any direction. Class times were all over the place. They don’t unlock blackboard until the Monday that classes start which makes it hard to plan your life. They tell us stuff last minute and expect us to comply. Months into the program they just now tell us we need to have updated immunization forms when they we’re supposed to keep track of them in the beginning. Do not waste your money. I was worried when I started in 2017 that I had told all these people about my new goal in life and the first semester already feeling like giving up and letting everyone that cheered me on down. But I kept pushing and moving forward and it got easier and easier and ATA and the teachers really encourage you, the first semester was really hard for me but there was so many teachers that checked on me and helped me to see the light at the end of the tunnel. ATA IS THE PLACE TO BE. You will make the best decision of your life if you come to this school. Here I am graduating in May with my Associate Degree in Medical Assisting. Been in the Limited Medical Radiography Program with Medical Assisting, and it has been AMAZING! Love the small classes! & The Instructors are by far the most involved with every student and are dedicated to them as well. Very passionate in their teaching. All of the staff from ATA from Admissions and Financial Aid and Student Services are also very dedicated, helpful and GREAT! Last but not least The President! He is super uber Amazing! He visits the classes, greets every student, personally hands out the Honors or President Awards to the students who've earned them. Also looks for better ways to improve ATA. I have been attending ATA since may 2017 and I am proud to say that I will be finished December 15, 2017. The staff at ATA are truly amazing and a blessing. They push you and help you so much throughout your Journey. Attending ATA has been one of the best decisions that I have made. Medquest changed my life in so many ways! When I didn’t know what I would do after not getting into my hygiene program I instantly started looking into other options and Medquest can across my Facebook for different programs that could be completed in less than a year, and Boom! Started in May of this year in my Dental assisting program, The best decision of my life ! Joy and Desireé was my absolute favorite! they deserve a raise & praise! I absolutely loved this school. I graduated in 2017 for Dental Assisting and I am now enrolled for the LPN July classes. The staff went over and beyond to accommodate me. I am extremely excited about my new journey. Update Alert!!!!!! If I could give 10 stars I would. Of course with any school you have a few bumps along the way, but I must say the Nursing experience has been amazing. The accountability and educational standards were are amazing. The instructors have taken their time to be sure that you understand what each class is about . Having teachers who are actively working in the nursing field, working in the School and going to school themselves gives you the push to never give up. I have 7 weeks till completion. It was not easy, financially nor mentally with 4 children and going through divorce, but when you walk in those doors you understand that you can accomplish ANYTHING because of the role models standing in front of you. Excellent school! I am a recent graduate of the Medical Assisting Program and I loved it! The instructors are the best, they are kind, patient and very intelligent. They have so much passion for teaching that you cant help but to learn. The school is very clean and organized. Everyone is helpful and kind. I was nervous about going back to school and starting a new career at 44 years old. It was the best thing I have done for myself in a very long time. No matter your age, if you are considering medical or dental assisting you must check this school out. Another thing I really liked about the process is that there were no high pressure salesperson. The school is so great that it speaks for itself. They have a great website and the people there are so helpful if you have any questions. In addition, you wont find a better price! For the past 3 and a half weeks i have been running in circles with this place, one star is overrating this college. i have went to 7 different people saying they cannot resolve my issue only to result in me going in person to speak with the dean and she had even told me that the issue was out of her control, (doesn't really sound right considering she is the dean of academics) they claim that their system online was up and working the previous week before school started but many students were having the same situation i was having to pay for their tuition. i did not need to set up a payment plan i do not have financial aid i was ready at any moment to pay for my tuition in full but again they claim that the situation was my fault. i did not miss any of my classes because they gave me the impression that i was going to be re added to them but unfortunately i wasn't, on that note i have experienced each semester with great teachers rarely did i not enjoy coming to class, honestly if you're looking for a community college just to save money and take your general education classes do not go here you will have more problems than anythingJacob Ace

The School is awful. There is no other way to describe it. It's a shame because they actually have some thoughtful Professors there who give a damn. It's the rest of the school that's terrible. The staff is clueless. I can't tell you the number of times this school has misplaced paperwork or said they notified someone via email but never sent anything or an adviser has failed to follow through. Every time this happens, the student has to go back and clean up the mess. The only thing they are guaranteed to follow up on is BILLING so they can get paid. This school is just in the business of running students through. Outside of a few good professors, the rest of the school doesn't care about the students at all. Check their graduation rate – it's something like 15%! And transfers to other schools do not explain that figure….. They just go through the motions to try to get a minimal amount of financial aid possible. Other than that, this is the We Don't Care School. I left the school in disgust to attend elsewhere, Unfortunately, I also wasted a lot of time here before leaving.P. Granger

I'm only giving this college a one star because I can't give it zero. I have had the worst experience ever trying to attend college at this campus. From the school not verifying my student loan in time for classes to them dropping me from every class I was enrolled in. The money from the student loan has already been dispersed to the college, but now I have to go through the process of re-enrolling according to them. Classes have been going on for three weeks now, and I've attended each day they were held. Now I will miss tests in my MT 150 class thanks to the college. It's ridiculous that a college that is supposed to help their students is so negligent. They don't help at all, even when you call them. One person will tell you one story and then the next time you call they will tell you something else. Their phones don't even connect to the campus but go to an offsite location where no one can actually be of any assistance. I would rather attend Ivy Tech or Galen for my nursing degree. University of Louisville is where I am doing my PhD. I really love what I do and my supervisor, professor Sharp, is a great person both in research and personally. I learnt a lot from him. I am in mechanical engineering school. They have been spending a lot of money recently to renovate all the instruments in the mechanical workshop. For example they added five new 3d printer for students to play with. Also, they bought 5 new micro cnc machines. There is also one faculty member that teach the students how to safely work with these new devices. For the measurement lab, a couple of new instruments have been purchased that are really awesome. Fluid mechanics lab also has new facilities to explore different aspects of the fluid mechanics concepts. Being a lab TA, I can tell for sure that all the ME students are enjoying the new facilities. They have also been hiring top ranked new faculty members. I know some of them, they are from very top universities and can add to the reputation of the ME department. So if you are thinking about joining the engineering group in University of Louisville, do not hesitate to do that. Good luck with your study and have fun.Mohammad Mohaghegh Faghih

The financial aid department is the worst! I'm not certain if it's just "certain" students (everyone knows that certain means black students….well the ones who don't play sports for the school) who this department gives a difficult time or if they just don't know their jobs in that department. They will tell a student that they need 1 thing to complete their file, and once the student returns the paperwork, they will tell them they still need another document. The student will return that document and then be told that they need another. Instead of giving a student a list of everything that they need to complete their file they will have students jumping through hoops, running back and forth to their office and placing holds on the students account as if the student has done something wrong. Great professors, I can't think of one that I didn't learn a lot from during my years there. Made a lot of great friends. If you have other options, I would encourage you to consider them before this University, though. The administration is corrupt, you won't have to look too far to find out about the scandals of the University. My daughter is going to Bellarmine University. This is her 2nd semester and she loves it there! Although it is almost 3 hours from our hometown, and in the big city of Louisville KY, the people there have helped her feel at home. Although the University of Louisville is a great college too, I was very nervous about leaving her there because she is from a small town and everything is so extremely different, like a city within a city. Once we visited the campus of Bellarmine, we both KNEW, that was the perfect place for her to get her education experience and personal care along the way. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND everyone to check it out if they're considering a college in the area. They even assisted she and I with extra scholarship and grant help which closed the deal for us. Professors mostly have genuine interest in helping students. Good ends there. If you have tendencies with mental health issues, this university will not help you. Counseling center has one counselor and then the remainder are students. The counselors typically gaslight students genuine issues, and exacerbates problems. Myself and others had to work for years to undo damage which was done there. If you are STEM, specifically technology, this university is not teaching anything relevant to current technology. Residence life is expensive and restrictive. You will likely be stuck into a dorm with three or four students to a single room which was built for one or two. Most of your meal plan money ends up on the "administrative" side, enjoy your 7 weekly meal swipes and $400 flex dollars to last you months.Duncan

I'm not a student, just a neighbor. Love the campus and the staff works well with the neighborhood. Many of the students live in the neighborhood. Bellarmine sports teams provide a welcome distraction from everyday stresses, and they have been outstanding at Division 2; moving into Division 1 next year. This school has been the biggest waste of a year and $40,000 of tuition, room & board, and supplies. If I could give it 0 stars I would and I would highly suggest had anyone planning to attend here rethink their choice. Just because they give you a scholarship does NOT make it worth it. There are plenty of other schools that offer the same degree for a better quality of education. Staff(professors, advisors, financial aid, food service, etc.) are all rude. I wish I was joking. Staff of all types are either blatantly rude or just ignore you when you have concerns/questions. As a freshman having to live on campus(Morrison Hall), Residential Advisors(RA’s) are extremely disconnected and don't keep confidentiality on problems they are suppose to, causing gossip and unnecessary tension. Morrison itself is also filthy. Residents do not clean up after themselves and each floor is always trashed and common areas(such as the basement/kitchen) are constantly having items broken/stolen by other residents. Quiet Hours are a joke and most RAs claim handling situations, “aren’t there job”, leaving assistance unreachable do to staff only being obtainable from Monday-Friday from about 10-4. We have been out of hand soap in 2 dispenses in the shared bathroom for over a month. I WISH I was joking. I wish this was some sick prank. On top of that, the idea of a 6 week class is fine until you have an underprepared professor, or have zero take away from the class itself. Due to the sessions being 6 weeks and have 3, per semester with a week in between it also makes it impossible to transfer after one semester. Since there is a split between session 3, and winter break. Making other university’s semesters start/end about 2 weeks different than Spaldings. Meaning, you would fail up to 2 classes if you decide to transfer mid year. If you are considering starting here as an undergraduate. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE reconsider. Do not waste your time or your money. There are other schools that would be worth the extra hundreds-thousands of dollars. Do not waste your time here.Atomic Axolotl

I applied for a job as a janitor at Spalding university. I am probably overqualified but i really wanted the job because it was within walking distance of my apartment. I tried to go speak with them in person a couple times after applying and was greeted with an extremely rude and unhelpful receptionist who refused to give me any information or help in any way. If you're considering applying here for a job or education I highly recommend you look elsewhere. The campus is comprised of old buildings in the bad part of town and if the rest of the school is anything like the people I interacted with then they do not deserve your time.James Duehring

I applied Oct 17 for admission and was told by admission counselor that Spalding was not a good fit for me and suggested that I go to JCC, before receiving any of my transcripts. After calling several times in hopes of speaking with someone else…I emailed the director of admission who convinced me that Spalding was not discriminating against me due to my race… But it is going on five months and I am still not admitted…I have been told my transcripts was not received, and had to reorder transcripts several times.
