The classes offered here are great, however the financial aid office is really unorganized and gives you the run around. I have literary spent a whole semester running back and forth filling our paperwork and checking to see if they’ve received my financial aid application. I took several courses at Merritt, initially thinking it would be easy, just because it's a community college. I was VERY mistaken. The courses I took were rigorous and the instructors had high standards of expectation. The curriculum was no skate. My experience there was great and I would recommend this college to anyone. By the way, DePaul University in Chicago accepted my Merritt credits without blinking.Meb Bem

The website is so complicated and ambiguous it takes at good half hour to find what you need. When you finally get their the function usually doesn't work! The campus signs and layout are horrible. If you're going to Merritt for the first time, give yourself at least an extra hour to find your way around! For a higher institution of learning, someone needs to fix these issues…R Cole

Overall, an okay community college experience so far from 2019 to 2022 (I took some summers off). The registration process for me was a nightmare. OpenCC upon some of the other processes were buggy, nonfunctional, or unclear. Despite this, I have to give them slack as when I was applying they were revamping their websites significantly. There's a mixed bag of good and bad staff. Some professors will be insanely rude, not understanding, and sometimes not even lecture properly on the topic at hand. Other professors will be really kind, understanding, and actively willing to work with you. Always look up the professor on Rate My Professor!!! Eservices, Canvas, and Counseling are atrocious. Eservices has been buggy at times or down for multiple hours. Canvas is usually a decent online learning tool, but sometimes it can get buggy and is not always accessibility friendly (as seen by not having a dark mode for example). I recall a time when Canvas was down due to the host servers, which are owned by Amazon, were completely offline. Counseling is not always helpful in guiding you to where to go next, will sometimes not even answer calls nor emails, and can get really busy (even with the switch from the old building to the Welcome and Support Center). I suggest looking up some information yourself on ARCs website first before talking to counselors, such as course catalogs or what classes you might take for a specific associates degree. I wish that counseling would still give out PHYSICAL course catalogs, but it is what it is. Finance is usually okay for parking passes, but other services is like pulling teeth. Communication on what is going on campus varies from good to poor. An example of this is when the pandemic began around midterms and there was the report of two people being exposed to Covid on campus, which caused mass panic and multiple people just walking out of class. Parking can sometimes be an issue, so be prepared to walk a little bit. Also, you will need a parking pass from a kiosk or buy a parking pass permit for the semester. Bathrooms could use some work. I recall a time where after flushing the bathroom started to flood. Food choices were fairly solid. If you were going to Starbucks or Subway during lunch, lines would get long. Only food offered on campus now is either from the student store, the cafeteria, the Oak Cafe, or the few vending machines on campus. Off campus, there's quite a few food places around, such as Lis Mongolian BBQ, Chik Fil A, and In-N-Out. The bookstore has been unorganized in the past, but is relatively chilled back and clean nowadays. Be warned that some things will be overpriced, but that's normal for college. It's almost like 90% of the people who work here will be rude over the phone and tell you to do everything online. They have messed up most of my paperwork, resulting in me having to resubmit residency forms, application forms, proof of ID. Somehow they put me as out-of-state which includes a 900% markup per credit. I went from expecting a $150 bill for a single class and ended up with a $1200 bill. No one wants to help sort it out. No one wants to answer the phone. The website is difficult to navigate. Honestly, I have had a single positive experience with one person in Admissions, and everyone else has been pushy, rude, dismissive, and argumentative. I am considering switching to literally any other school in the district. My partner attends SCC and it's laughable how smoothly they handled his transition back to school, compared to mine. Edit: it should also be noted that I had applied to ARC 4 times since 2013 and never received a welcome letter. I had emailed asking why I applied and was not told anything, or emailed, called – nothing. I got no response. Called last month because I was at my wits end and I am told "I can't give you a student ID number because your application was DENIED." I asked why and she told me she couldnt tell me. I asked for a supervisor who immediately told me "we have the wrong SSN for you, so none of your applications were accepted because it didn't watch our records." My CORRECT SSN, was being rejected. In 8 YEARS NO ONE EVER TOLD ME THIS. Just like they didn't tell me I was listed as out of state, despite submitting residency information multiple times. This school is a JOKEI Illyria

The college is great..,.. the bookstore however is 1 star at best. The school district sub-contracted it out and the new facilitators understand that they have a built in market from people having to use their financial aid or other assorted vouchers from various Govt entities and as a result they practice poor customer service utilizing people that are quite adept at rapid fire litanies telling you why none of the delays or shortages are their concern or problem. In fact in my opinion 90% of their employees that deal with the public are nothing more than thugs and bully's. They take no responsibility for faulty instructions in how to use the new book site with vouchers and tell you that they are "saaaawrrrrry" when they tell you they can't locate your books and give you a date when they will be in. Once again, in my opinion, they are nothing more than petty tyrants and bullies that should have their contract terminated for lack of accountability on their part. I am currently in the vet tech program( just finished term 1 and starting term 2) here are a few things I wish I knew about the program before I started. UPDATE!!! STRONGLY suggest getting your generals done else where!!! Almost done with term 2 and Looking back, the program would be soo much easier if you were just taking the vet core classes. Seriously.. if you are really thinking about going here fresh out of high school and think you are going to be fine with the work load you are in for a rude awakening.. just please take my advice and get your generals done somewhere else. You will actually enjoy your time here if you are just taking the vet core classes because the vet related classes and the generals work load at the same time is extremely stressful because again you will be taking roughly 20 credit hours( that’s general classes and vet core classes) AND the material is very rushed. -curriculum is extremely rushed -instructors are a hit or miss (3/5 instructors were really great and knew what they were talking about and we’re able to explain really well, other 2 did not know the material and did not know how to effectively teach/explain/ or answers any questions about the material they were teaching. Pretty much had to self teach in both classes) -the parking situation is a hot mess. Parking on campus is extremely limited and the street parking is a joke. -The remediation assignments (Student services assigns you an extra assignment on top of your homework in whatever class for being 15+ minutes late or missing the class or leaving 15+ minutes early ie. Handwritten 100 bullet points on the slides of the power point you missed. The instructor then has to sign off on it and you turn it into student services no later than 1 week of the absence/tardy) is extremely unnecessary and just adds more stress. -But all in all still a better program than any of the other schools I was looking into before I started the program. I’m still loving what I am learning about and the hands on labs are amazing. My classmates and I are extremely close and working together and helping each other study is a must to succeed in every class. If you do find yourself struggling there are so many resources the school provides to help you ie. free tutoring from a peer tutor, tutoring from your instructors per request via emailing them. Scheduling an appointment with the Student success coordinator (helps you plan your study schedule and helps with testing stragies). Just know this is a tough program because it’s rushed and you WILL be taking anywhere from 12-20 credits hours. ( this is decided based on if you have transfer credits from other colleges ie. math 1010, Biology1010, college writing, etc. I was taking 20 credit hours. I did not choose this, your schedule will be chosen for you by the school) and you will be eating, living and breathing veterinary medicine for the next 2 years. ( also I want to add that it is STRONGLY recommended that you DONT have a job. At least in 1st term. In orientation they go more in-depth about this. A lot of my classmates including myself quit our full/ part time jobs after 1 month in the program because it was too much) If this is something you think you can handle then it is definitely worth it!Kaitlyn Hart

This school has all the technology you could ever want, and provides a lot of support. I wish I could have afforded to go there. That’s the only downside, is the really high price. I should add, the price is high for a reason. They buy top of the line technology to teach their nurses and vet techs (those are the only things I’ve seen myself, and I am 100% sure they put the money into their other programs, too.) My current financial situation makes the school unaffordable, but the price is 100% worth it. I was going to make myself afford it until I was told about a deposit. I WAS shocked by the $400+ deposit they required during orientation (for the LVN program.) I wasn’t told about it except less than a week before orientation. There was really no iltime for me to prepare. My financial aid advisor, Vanessa, was AMAZING and tried everything to make the school more affordable. My academic advisor, Nikia, was the BEST. She really helped to make me feel comfortable and helped teach me more about the program.Jessica Laroche

The program I was in (vet tech) was great for the most part! However there was a lot of bumps in the 2 years and disorganization when I was there. Teachers were a hit or miss you could get a great one and would love that class, or you would get one you dreaded and never wanted to go to class. Being the first class to graduate from that program we didn't get all the amazing equipment that the students have now. This program over all is a great experience because when you are struggling or need help you can find teachers always doing tutor sessions or the LRC always is willing to help you learn things as well. they are doing the best they can to make sure things run smoothly from now on. I would recommend this course now because it seems like things will run smoother now that they learned from passed mistakes with my class.Allison Kunic

Most professors are very kind. The school as reopened for in-person learning. The food and library are open. Staff, students, and visitors will need to fill out a health screen to be on campus. (I'd say take a screenshot to easily show the green check) The construction in the middle of campus is done and the beautiful campus is opened up. I like the school, and the professors are great. All of the professors I have taken have been kind. However, the staff- Araceli the manager from the mission college bookstore is extremely rude. She lacks customer service skills. She will yell at you in front of the entire store to the point where everyone is staring. Mission College has one of the most supportive and enthusiastic professors. I enjoy coming in to all of my classes because they engage me into their lesson plans. Not only that but they make sure that all of their students are understanding the assignments and offer alternative support systems for them to succeed in the classroom. I applied to the nursing program in 2021 and was not accepted- which was fine- but the call I received from the Admissions department is what really left a bad taste in my mouth about this school. The woman who called to tell me that I didn’t get in did so with the purpose of “selling” me another major. Her words: I don’t really see you getting into another nursing program in the state… your grades just aren’t high enough… but we do have other good bachelors programs. Outside of her statement being rude and unnecessary, it’s also untrue as I finished my master’s with a 4.0. Yes, I have a masters degree and this admissions person tried to sell me a BA in psychology or health admin. A degree that would be literally useless to me. I was more offended by the blatant attempt to make a quick buck than I was by her talking down to me in such a way. Needless to say I didn’t enroll here, but I did get into 2 other nursing programs in the Bay Area. I guess my grades were “high enough.”AJ E

We went to San Rafael to get our covid vaccines today. Afterwards we ordered food from Sol restaurant to pick up. My daughter had attended Dominican University about 18 years ago. They have beautiful lawns On campus, with picnic tables and trees and flowers over there, so we went and had our lunch there. It was beautiful as usual. Squirrels running up-and-down the trees and people walking their dogs and jogging…. The trees swaying back-and-forth with the breeze… And with me with great company, my husband and my Mom. Once Upon a Time, Domincan was where all the CA Catholic School Girls went for college….there was also an impressvie International contingent…Chances were that an aunt, cousin, sister attended the all girl school before. Held in very high esteem and the good Sisters were an impressive lot. The campus was charming, nicely appointed and safe. The preparatory music department has long being established and reputable for the Suzuki Music Method – piano violin cello flute and etc. The music department has strong faculty roster in piano and vocal. The Valley Center for the Performing Arts is one of the best music and multi functional facility in the Bay Area. Not a huge or well known campus compared to other universities, Holy Names is nestled in the Oakland Hills. The facilities and grounds are nicely laid out and have a very peaceful feeling. Apart from the regular curriculum, HNU also offers music programs for young children.Ton T

A benefit of this place find outstanding professors and good education. Tuition is not bad. This university is a growing university that deserves good reputations, but has dragged down by poor admin, HR, Dept Chair. Academic affair and chair make the whole procedure slowed down and dysfunctional. They keep getting deficits from under-enrollement and have a few million deficits from COM academic affairs and do not take responsibility. They sacrifice well run programs and the fund does not come back. Very low salary. San Francisco's poverty limit is $117K and I believe most are below the poverty level. Vallejo is the most diverse city of white 32%, Asian 24%, Hispanic/Latino 22%, Black/African American, 22%. COM admin and department leadership are far from the demographic diversity. It does not help. Non-compliance is coming back, past faculty who got paid, did nothing and is still on safety committee. The university needs biosafety officer. The university has warm culture and nice. Faculty and students work together and emphasize the culture. On the better side, some are very talented to fix the issues. They are willing to do extra duties for nothing and burn out. They are here for students and teaching. Standing ovation but students do not do well is not teaching. It has flagrant and bizarre academics and professionalism. Correct knowledge is what COM dean and chair say, but not the current state of understanding. If you say something, you will face a group of people who accuses you unprofessional and not collegial. This is how the review goes. This is how the evaluation works. Academics office promoted associate professor with only a master's degree – must have the highest degree is the bylaw. The university does not give resources, weakens faculty and say get the grant. dept chair messed paperwork that costs me $8,000, and continues to mess it up. I take pride in the job but not doing it for compensation! Do you know a short notice cost me a few hundreds? each time I arrange a baby-sitter. They squeeze salary, resource and smash the pride. MSHMS management is unprepared and is manipulative. They allow student bad behaviours. Pharm teaches wrong knowledge. Immuno is awful. The university has nationally recognized professors that can give insights to the whole university. They are the ones that give reputation and lead the university. The department is ready for the next step with better leadership. It has good faculties with quality. It is not for somebody who stays for a stipend creating a cylo-like culture not following policy and regulations. Those create a sub-culture of non-compliance. They make everything very difficult, make small issues big. They blame faculty who is trouble-shooting the problem. Such leadership is not needed. Admin should update the dept and program leadership. Sadly, similar goes to some researchers who are extremely hostile and blame others for their faults. A researcher has nearly no paper published but very critical to others. They spilled something nasty in the lab, did not clean it up, and blame the university. They demand more teaching for job security when losing the grant. It is THEM who make trouble. They come as a group saying unprofessional, but professionalism is not how many say it. Same goes for admin. We need better professionalism standards. IT still keeps breaking down after upgrades. paperwork is kept messing up. facilities give no response, new vending machines still eating money, scheduling is a whole mess. budget is poorly managed- where does faculty fund go? Orders take forever. Learning center CILT is newly developed, but is not well-organized for rapid changes in teaching. Lectures are diminishing. Students seek assistance but are not getting it. They should focus on retention and focus on something nice.dr nik

Classes in the Grad School of Education provide practical information relevant to the classroom. They have a library that is always open, and a number of relevant focus areas for today's teachers. However, they're overrun with bureaucratic drivel removing students from their program multiple semesters in, due to their own clerical oversights during admission and have had people other than the professor run classes. The syllabus and rubrics wont always match up and you'll be denied a grade. Dont ever expect to get the benefit of the doubt, and never delude yourself into thinking anyone there cares whether or not you are successful. You will hit wall after wall with them unless you are the quintessential student without any outside responsibilities or any interference from real life. In short, it is a decent program as long as you don't expect to matter as a human being or a teacher.Meghan Hansford

TUW has exceeded my expectations so far. Not only is communication direct and smooth, the assistance from enrollment counselors like Kim, and academic advisors, is excellent. I begin classes in late August but have been guided in a sense that I feel comfortable and confident about beginning my first term in the Masters of Arts in Family and Marriage Therapy program. From financial aid to registration, TUW staff is there for you along the way. I attended a small private college for 2 years and a public state college for 2 years. Similar to the small college, TUW is available for help and seems to truly care about the success of their students.maya stephen

What used to be a quality, albeit an expensive education at a quality institution has degraded into nothing more than a typical private college, pay your money get your degree. A lot of the instructors are less than knowledgeable about subjects that most persons in the same subject field at a four year degree level would know. Complaints against faculty that are legitimate and provable are met at first with a sweep it under the rug mentality and if a student continues to push the issue, with outright and blatant retaliation. Classes are changed with no regards to the syllabus, instructors are often unreachable, lacking in knowledge and less than professional. I started the program with Ms Perez as my lab instructor and ended with Ms Patrice. I'm older, laid off from a 25yr career and didn't know what to do with my life let alone where to start. Ms Perez and Ms Patrice made learning so easy, fun and amongst all, they made it interesting and made me feel excited to keep attending. The process at Unitek is easy to complete due to the communication level the staff has with their students. My career advisor, Ms Lisa is great! Ms Lisa Literally held my hand through the exiting process, kept in touch throughout my externship, made sure I was staying sane throughout the process of going to extern, working nights and taking care of my family. Walked me through my application process for a job, held my hand through the interview process, kept in touch throughout the whole process until I got an offer letter!!!! My experience with everyone at Unitek was great, but my experience with Ms Lisa is one that needs to be recognized!!!!Chris Fusi

I had a wonderful experience with Ms. Patrice my laboratory instructor and Ms. Perez. Both have mentored me & helped me become the MA I am today. Ms. Lisa Haynes in Career Services is a hard worker & goes to bat for her students. I received a job offer during my externship, that was too good to pass up as a new grad, thanks to her guidance. I recommend taking your MA in the day class as the PM class lacks structure & professionalism with one particular teacher…that is the only reason I left off a star. The school itself has a fully functioning lab for clinical experience, is safe, clean, holds dinners or gives treats for student morale and tuition is less than other schools in the Bay Area.Jennifer Wills

yesterday 7/27/2020 I officially graduated from Concorde college (MA PROGRAM) and all I can say is if you’re looking for a school to help you learn about the medical field Concorde is it. They have great teachers willing to help you as much as possible. They have a great computer lab, always open to help! The school is very well kept and cleaned! Staff also does little events here and there just to show appreciation to the students which I loved. The staff here are AMAZING! 2 staff I would really like to shout out are ARIANA HERTZ & MONICA CARLOS! Both of these woman helped me so much and went out their way to make sure i was doing great at Concorde. Security GEORGE was also such a great staff, he always would help as much as he can. But overall all staff is great, super helpful and super friendly. I felt so welcomed at Concorde as soon as I got there! So glad I came to this school because not only did I get an education but I made some wonderful friends here too. I LOVE CONCORDE💙! This review is overdue. But I wanted to wait until I had been working in my field a couple of years to review. I graduated in 2019 with my LVN, and I was able to obtain my license in January 2020. I was well prepared. Passed my nclex on the first try. But I studied and I followed the direction the instructors and staff recommended to get there. Sometimes it felt like they were dragging us through the ringer, when it came to assignments, tests, clinical etc. But it was well worth it. I started my job confident in all of the basic LVN skills. Vital signs, GT, wound care, interpersonal relationships etc. This school taught me so much about myself. If you are considering a career change; or a jump start to your career. I highly recommend. But don’t go here thinking it will be easy. You WILL have to put in the work. Also another tip, communication is key. Garden Grove Concorde is what you expect out of a school. I love this campus. I enrolled here in 2006 for the Respiratory Therapist program and graduated in 2008. During the program, they provided all the resources i needed to get through all my courses such as tutoring, 1 on 1 help, and most importantly the most friendliest, attentive staff from the front the front desk all the way to the top. i would like to mention someone who has help through my toughest times, Lynda Carlos. When i was having trouble with my application process she would go out of her way to help me. She was like this with every student and every one of my class mates love her. Minorities please think twice about going here , if you hang out with minorities please think twice about going here if you’re related to minorities… PLEASE think twice about going here . At orientation the owner of the school told the whole nail tech class to not be “ghetto” at this school and looked at me and another African American student directly in our eyes and we asked her what she meant and she didn’t elaborate but repeated herself another time. There have been so many incidents of harassment and making up rules as they go . The principal and owner are related so there’s no point in requesting meetings or looking for resolutions because they will team up with eachother and the best part I was kicked out WEEKS before graduation , the OWNER stated that she did not think I wanted to be successful because she knows my Type I wonder what that means ….. please run far away from this school .Adore Anala

I've been coming to B.A.B.E. for a few years now, they're the only place I go to get my hair done. I've had great experiences with all of the students and instructors, and my most recent appt I had with miss Justina. I went in with a hot mess of a grown out asymmetrical cut, and knew I wanted a long pixie. Justina really helped calm my nerves about such a drastic and dramatic change in my hairstyle, helped me sculpt a true work of art, and I have to say I will DEFINITELY be requesting her services again. Had made an appointment my very first time coming here, staff was excellent as well as my hair done by Amanda Barber. The teacher walks around and helps everyone achieve what they need by giving them tips as they’re working. I was very impressed with the professionalism and enthusiasm of the place. I graduated from the Dental Hygiene department at the San Bernardino campus. Overall, I had a wonderful experience. The staff truly has your best interest at heart. They will spend countless hours to ensure the students feel confident and prepared for state exams and our future career. The classes are challenging as they should be. If you put the work in, you’ll succeed in this program. I passed all three state exams first try. On the clinic floor there are multiple instructors and different doctors on staff so you are able to learn from multiple clinicians. Beyond the educational portion, Concorde was like a second family to me. From walking through the doors being greeted by security guard LT, down the hall seeing Mrs. Ludwig’s infectious smile, to the staff lounge filled with inspiring teachers; I know I always have a home at Concorde and have mentors I can connect with for years to come.Dani Alcantar

As a student here I advise not to go to this school for the Respiratory Therapist class. You pay book fees for the ACLS and NRP and they don't let you keep the books. Then they don't tell you that you have to pay for the course because it's not covered. This school rips off there students and you pay unknown fee's. I don't advise this school and you are better off going to a different school. Plus for the last term which is the most important they don't even teach you and you don't go to a seminar for Kettering. They tell you good luck. This school is unprofessional and the RT director doesn't care about the students they just care about money. GO TO A DIFFERENT SCHOOL BECAUSE YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS ONE. Concorde has been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my healthcare career! I got my LVN from a different school and wasn't too happy about the experience, so walking into Concorde to inquire about the Neurodiagnostic I was really leery. Let's just say when meeting with Melody Villa was amazing addressing any and all questions I had, I couldn't be more thankful for her and making me feel at ease in taking this step! This school only cares about the money you pay them. I remember the director contacting me so many times in a week to pay my past due. I was still waiting for my VA benefits to kick in. Then I was told if I don’t pay by this date, I will be removed from the program. So I applied for a loan to pay off my past due. After that I was never harassed again. I expected a lot from this school. From great didactic instructors to clinical instructors. But that did not happened. I only had one good didactic instructor. My clinical instructor was lazy and always complaining. The leadership did not care about you. Just their well being as a school. Your grades don’t matter. Also they did not care if you are a military veteran. There were times that I had to clock in using my phone which is not allowed, but my clinical instructor was always late so I couldn’t clock in using a computer. I was removed from the MRI program because I was DISHONEST. Instead of helping you to improve, they just remove you from the program because they got what they needed from you. MONEY! I applied to the Gurnick Academy ultrasound technology program ( San Mateo campus ), At first I was getting constant email reminders to complete documents before the deadline date . After I completed everything I had an panel interview set up , the interview went well overall but I was asked a certain question that I didn’t completely understand and when I hesitated ( and felt nervous ) the interviewer rudely responded with frustration at my delayed response . At the end of the interview they informed me that I would receive a response within 3 weeks. Within a few days I received an email demanding that I complete a financial aid form within that day “ just in case” I get into the program even though I hadn’t received an acceptance letter. Well.. 3 weeks passed and I sent a follow up email kindly thanking everyone that attended the interview for there time and consideration . I didn’t get a single reply back from that email , a month after the interview day they emailed me informing that I didn’t get in and should try applying next year . The negative reviews I read after the fact are correct , it seemed like they were only after money .Amani Abdaw

I am writing this review as a new grad from the LVN program at Unitek's Hayward Campus. I chose Unitek as the location to take on my nursing education after attempting to go through the community college route. The CC route can be long and dragged out as many of the science course are impacted. I knew I wanted to be nurse and Unitek was my express ride to that goal. Classes were very informative and every class was directed to nursing concepts and skills. This kept me engaged throughout the whole program because the goal of being a nurse felt more tangible because I could directly see how what I was learning would be applied once I finished. My theory instructor Mr. X was PHENOMENAL. He created an environment that was conducive to the success of his students. His lectures were not only interesting but his passion and knowledge was more than evident. In short, he wanted us to be successful, knowledgable and confident nurses. My skills and clinical instructor Mr. Singh and Ms. Lisa were incredibly smart and resourceful. Mr. Singh taught clinicals as if we were hired nurses and wanted to be sure we understood how to do things as well as WHY which I think was priceless. He also taught us about the real scenarios that could potentially happen in the real world as nurses that you would not necessarily find within a textbook. The LVN program all in all was a rigorous program however the school provides resources to each of us as students that would help us be successful. My recommendation to any prospective student is to build a rapport with the people around you including your classmates (i.e. create study buddies and study groups) to help you and use your resources (ATI and ATI textbooks.) I graduated June 30th, 2022. I passed my nclex-pn in 75 questions on July 26th 2022. Unitek works!Sherelle Davis

The whole staff, admissions, financial department, and student services(Leslie) was amazing and very helpful in helping me navigate throughout the process of getting into the Unitek Program as well as achieving completion. Yes it get's harder as you go but always listen to the professors who will ensure that you are learning as much of the material that you should be learning to be successful and hopefully pass the NCLEX-PN. Taking this program is all about discipline and just like at work and school you will feel pressured throughout because of deadlines, but learning to organize, prioritization, and finding your learning style and adjusting to where you can both feel focused and prepared both mentally and physically for tests and all other course content is very important to be successful in this program. I went to Unitek to get my LVN license and finished a little over a year ago. There might be hiccups here and there, but the teachers at Unitek really make it a great program. Mrs. Thomas, Mrs. Heidi, Mrs. Woodard and Mrs. Brown are some of the best teachers I’ve ever had. They’re always there to help you with any questions you have and they go the extra mile to ensure you have all the tools you need to succeed. They will sacrifice their personal time after work hours to help their students. I just started my BSN program and I remember so much of what I learned at Unitek because of these teachers. The school itself might not be perfect, but I couldn’t have asked for a better education.Jake Peterson

My LOVE for the ultrasound program at Gurnick is way beyond. – from the teachers to the challenging curriculum. All the faculty members of sonography program integrates with compassion into their teaching standards, emphasizes the importance of values, and builds leaders through each of their classes and lessons. Sonography program is not an easy program. You have to be passionate about working in this field with patient care and being proactive. It’s takes a lot of hard work and dedication and determination. The director and the professor’s made sure that each of us are successful in this program. Though it is a private school, I had to work hard for this program and be successful And every member from financial aid to coordinators to front desk made sure that we all are given help and guidance when we need it. Teachers are passionate about seeing their students succeed. They are so great about sharing moments of pride they see within us. I love my ultrasound program at Gurnick. Definitely would recommend this school. I am a current student in the ultrasound program and I have gained so much knowledge for the time I have been there thus far. Instructors go above and beyond to make sure the material is taught well and share new skills to make sure we are the best at our jobs, for ourselves and our patients. Jorge, the program director is always finding diverse techniques to make learning a fun experience. The curriculum is awesome as well as the environment. I went in not knowing what I looking at on a “black and white screen” and now I can point out all of the anatomy as well as complete diagnostic exams. If you’re interested, I definitely recommend speaking to Jorge, he always puts the student’s best interests first!Jassamyn Shergill

I am a current Ultrasound student at Gurnick Academy and I am pleased with my decision to apply to this program. This is NOT an easy program, it will challenge you in many ways. However, you are given plenty of support and resources to help you succeed. I have yet to have a day where we are not able to practice scanning, which is very impressive compared to other programs. All instructors are experienced sonographers that set clear expectations for student performance. The director of the Ultrasound Program, Jorge, will go above and beyond for his students while preparing us for the field and anything it may throw at us. I would recommend this program to anyone looking for a serious and successful career in ultrasound.Olivia Smith

I recently completed a certified nursing assistant program here and had an amazing experience. The staff is amazing and super helpful. You can tell that they genuinely want you to succeed and will do whatever they can help you get there. The program is also very affordable compared to many of the other NA programs in the bay area and is just as high quality of education as the programs with the big price tags. The class schedules are also very accommodating with a morning and evening option. I was able to easily concurrently go to my college classes as well as these classes without missing a single day. 5 of my classmates and I took the state board exam in the end of September together and we all passed, going in feeling very prepared. Overall, a great program and I would highly recommend it if you're considering going into nursing or want to become a nursing assistant.Carly Koch

Terrible place. They don’t even refund your down payment when you cancel that is supposed to just save your spot in a class. Don’t pay right away when you’re signing everything. You’re better off waiting so you can save your money. Their class credits aren’t transferable either so if you want a higher education with your certificate or degree, you won’t get it with this college I really want to pursue the LVN course at medical carrer college Today I had a talk with ms/mrs who runs this business a representative of this college.he asked me many questions that had nothing to do with helping me access the course.I felt like I was a criminal being questioned by the police.I did not have enough patientce to continue the conversation.Sorry i didn’t recommended to anyone to go this collegeJoban Dhummi

The school is not that big like other schools but the knowledge that I learned is so much more than I expected, the professors are all nice and helpful, after you graduated they will help you to find a job, I remember when I was doing my externship and I’m not the only extern at that time I have 2 fellow externs and I was so surprised because they are graduated from different school and I don’t expect that all the knowledge that I learned from MCC is I’m going to share with them I’m the one who trained them how to do the proper way to do the EKG and VITAL SIGN. I started this program unsure what to expect, however I was quickly emerged into an informative, challenging and interesting medical assisting program. My instructors Mrs Soto and Mrs El Arbi were great teachers who pushed us to be out best and to further our education each day of class. They had tons of knowledge and experience about the field to share with us as they pushed us to be our best in skills like blood draws, injections, assisting providers and vitals to name a few. The schedule of classes and the homework was the perfect amount time/content, allowing me to succeed, gaining many deans list awards. Unitek College has been a great school to attend. My instructor Mrs. Soto was the best. She gave me the confidence, guidance, and skills I needed to feel prepared and go into the medical field. Unitek College has been a great experience. I attended the MA program and I had both Mrs.James and Mrs.Soto. Every instructor that I met was so kind and respectful. These instructors make sure that you succeed and feel comfortable going out into the field. I want to give all the staff a thanks, they were always there for anything I needed. Overall Unitek college was a great experience for me. Both of my teachers were there for me and answered emails in a timely manner. I don’t think I would’ve gone to the school because I do live about two hours away but Futuro health paid for it that’s why I went here. I believe everything went smoothly just until the end with my externship I had a place in mind and my coordinator basically just told me to take the first externship she chose me. It took us a while because she is not from the state and everything that she was looking was about three hours away from where I currently live. If there is one thing I could probably change from this place it would be to make it more of a in person learning because everything was pretty much on the computer except for labs one day every two weeks I did feel like I learned but I feel like I would’ve learned more if there was more in person learning then over the computer. I do feel like some teachers don’t really pay attention to the stuff because there were some places that I would leave blank and I would still get 100% on them. Overall I do recommend the school but I do feel like they are some areas it can get some work on.Stephanie Ramirez

When they say for profit they are not kidding around! The teachers have their favorites. Miss Chua has a thick accent makes learning difficult on top of her accent she sometimes gets really worked up in her lectures and begins to kind of shout and speak faster than i can follow. They lack the skill of communication. I think the only staff that knows how to properly communicatw is Sera but she is in admissions i believe. Miss Chua has made me feel like I am not a valued student and does not try her best to accomodate students. For example if you are late for an ati test she will pick a time and it doesnt matter if it fits with your work schedule outside of school. Emails, and calls do not seem to work with this set of instructors especially her. I wish Unitek would change some of their policies regarding communication between student and staff. I also wish there was more diversity on campus, SSF location lacks diversity and frankly i do not think they even celebrate other races…Hailly Green

I reached out to know more and actually start and get an education , i started talking to an admission representative named Ariel Edwards and set up appointment i unfortunately wasn't able to make it due to getting sick & taking care of my youngest sister and i had , i let her know ahead of time about my situations as well but when it came to rescheduling asking for a later time she completely ignored me & stopped talking to me , the least she could have done was straight up say she didn't want to help me anymore really unprofessional . At the end i turned to san jose unitek and My experience was amazing , i am currently enrolled and ready to start classes , for anyone wanting to enroll in a unitek college i definitely recommend san jose , they reach out to you day by day , let you know the different times you can go when setting an appointment & don't leave you hanging .Ashley Ramirez

Not a question but just a desperate comment. This is so depressing I tried to contact the program director as recommended by the business manager here. She never reached out to me and all I was told is that my money was not going to be refunded because I decided to not continue with the program. Well after ALL of course I don't want to continue with the program all this lies being told to me before you guys took my money. You must know that $1500 is a lot for anyone in my situation that's why I begged to get it back since I borrowed it now I have to pay it back and on top of that my mother is very sick. Not that you care because is not your mother but there is things I could use this money for and I am just so desperate because I can't borrow more money since I can't pay this $1500 back. Can someone please help me. Dr Craig was very rude since the beginning and asking about empathy and morals but ma'am where is your empathy now??? You criticize me for not being able to respond to your question about the meaning of it but do you really know it???? My mother is dying 😢 and all I am asking for is for MY BORROWED MONEY BACK so I can help with something. I am miserable right now. I personally had a good experience at Unitek, the instructors Ms. Sarah, Ms. Suttle and Mr. John always had good feedback and I felt that they cared about us getting the subject/task we had to learn. I was pleased with the practice I got to do, though we could have done more practice of urinalysis, snellen chart, hearing tests and others I can not quite remember at this moment. Amanda Garff with career services was awesome! She was always there when I needed any help with a question or with my resume. She goes above and beyond for students. One thing I did not like, was the fact that before we went onto externship, there was not much communication from the extern coordinators to students going out, we did not know our assigned site, or our schedules or the person whom we had to report to until 2 days before our start date! I know myself and other students were kind of upset that we really did not know our schedules so that we could coordinate child care for the ones who have children.I S T

I had an amazing experience at Unitek. Very helpful teachers and all staff members. Each and every one are dedicated to make sure you are prepared for anything needed for school and your career they are helping you build. Debbie Cacy helped me put together a stellar resume, helped me find, prepare and get an interview for my externship site. They also helped me stay on top of everything even when life was a little bit crazy, they reminded me what documents I needed to turn in and when. The communication is amazing. I have never experienced so many people in my corner helping me succeed in every way they possibly can. I would recommend Unitek to any one interested in a career in the medical field.
