20 Best Summer Programs In Salt Lake City, UT (2022 Updated)

So this place is AMAZING! I literally could've spent 6+ hours here and come back every day. There is so much to do and the different areas offer tons to explore. The only downside is I'd like to see some padding or other safety material around the metal tables and many other hard surfaces which are at head-level with little ones. Although we were closely watching my 18mo old manage to hit himself twice (he was too excited), then we witnessed another little girl (she might have been 3-4 years old) hit herself on the head as well, she ran into a table around the car racing on the second floor and cried for a while. Our little guy also hit himself on the head twice, once upon the very entrance (A round little hole for little ones) and once in the second floor. These tables and made of some heavy duty steel. So parents please be aware, I was very concerned about this issue and highly suggest management look into some protective measures to ensure the safety of these beautiful and delicate heads. Other than this safety issue, this place is awesome, for both parents and children.Joanna Liriano

Great place for the kids to play, learn, discover, and have a great adventure. If you cone here and your kids have you in tow. You more than likely will be spending an hour or three before being able to exit the premises. There is a Lifeflight and helicopter exhibit, a beehive climbing area, a whole house with a kitchen, and many other play and learning areas. But let us not forget about the water area and all of activities involved in the water process. The exit is strategicly placed to where you have to go through the Gift shop, and granted the cost of the toys, stuffed animals, and a ton of other toys are going towards the Discovery Gateway Childens Museum. You will pay for parking if you park on the street or in the parking garage, unless you take the bus or trax, of courseMichael Hunter

We love taking the kids to discovery gateway museum! Our kids were so excited to see the new dinosaur exhibit that just opened! They loved chiseling the plaster around the bones and learning all about paleontology. The kid city is a favorite area–the most adorable little house with small furniture and full mini kitchen, a full on grocery store, bank, farm, water play–it's hours of fun! Also don't miss the primary children's life flight helicopter, hospital, and rescue stations on the outdoor patio upstairs. We always bring snacks to eat at the picnic tables by the helicopter (no food aloud inside the museum) so we can keep playing for more hours of fun. Visited on

This museum is actually smaller than I thought but absolutely worth it. I like going to different museums while I travel for work because no matter how many of the same things you see there is always some amazing one off things each museum has to offer. This museum doesn’t let down on this idea. They have a really fantastic Native American masterpiece that is small but really packed with information, antiques, and pictures. This museum has a tiny section for stuffed animals when compared to San Diego or DC, but the few they have are really well presented and done well. The dinosaur section is jam packed with different animals and dinosaurs that it is overwhelming. I had to slow down in this section to really see all the amazing items they have here. Here are a couple things they I found really amazing and have not seen this at other natural history museums. 1) the collection of eggs and turtle shells and they way they are presented. 2) the collection of triceratops’s heads from different types and how they are hung on the wall – breathe taking.. 3) the roof top access has a really great view of the valley. This place is really great for kids. There are a lot of displays and items for kids to look at, to do, or learn about. One thing that was strange to me was how small their museum shop was and they did not have magnets or stickers about the museum. I collect some of this type of stuff and couldn’t find anything in the shop to pick up. ☹️ Got a couple hours to kill? Why not check it out. Visited on

This was one of my favorite museum experiences I’ve ever been able to participate in. The walking amount can be a bit of a struggle for those with lesser endurance, but even then, slopes are gradual, elevators are available, and the entirety of the exhibits, save for a couple optional locations, appeared to be easy enough to navigate and handicap-friendly. The stories and presentations were excellently captured, and they made it very easy to discern between interactive and non-interactive attractions and displays. Fun for any age, with lots of visual, auditory, and tactile interactions throughout. Set aside a good 2-3 hours if you want to see everything and experience things wholly. We spent 2 and a half hours here and ended up having to be rushed out at closing time half-way through the Colors exhibit. Absolutely worth the time, the travel, and the visit. Visited on

Had a great time here with my two small kids. Lots of steps but there was an elevator for the stroller that was quick and convenient. The dinosaur exhibit was a little hard to find and my husband ended up having to go back through with our 5yr old to find it before we left. Some of the hands on features didn’t work but most did and they were fun for everyone. The staff were helpful and our toddler was free. The gift shop is pricey but had some great stuff that the kids are still enjoying weeks later. Visited on

First of all, this place is not pleasant. I know it's a mean to say, but this museum was not at all enjoyable. First and foremost, it is very small. It's not a really big place and there isn't a lot to do in it which I think occurs because of the size. Second, the art in this place is not very good. I am not an art critique by any means, but when I can do half of the art, I become quite unimpressed. There wasn't a lot of effort put into the art in this museum. Yes, some pieces seem like they'd be hard to replicate or do, but a good portion of them consisted of stapling paper to a wall. Moving on, the stairs in the place don't seem very stable. They bend under your feet and make noise when you step on them, disturbing the quiet of the entire place. They also have videos being portrayed as art and the sound on them is quite deafening. You can here them wherever you go in the museum and the music is actually quite eerie and annoying. I want to look at in peace when I can. All in all, this just wasn't a nice place in my opinion. I didn't like the art, the stairs scared me, and it also wasn't a really welcoming place. The music that was constantly playing from the videos was annoying and really loud and the art just wasn't something that set my heart aflame. In the end, the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art gets one star from me.S. Chacon

Price is right…$8. It makes me question and wonder where the line is between art and ?, Well, not art. Some of the paintings and exhibits were interesting and made you think. I am very proud of our Utah Museum of Fine Arts. They always have great exhibitions of public interest. Currently (July to December of 2022) the museum is featuring “Air”, which is very eye-opening and invites to reflection and taking action. The museum collections are impressive, with a great array of European, Native American, Asian, Mediterranean, and African art. The spaces feel open, clean, conducive to learning and admiring. I can confidently say that the UMFA rivals many European museums, and its right here in SLC. I highly encourage everyone to visit. (It’s free the first weekend of every month; no excuses)Ana Corona

Only place I know in Utah you can see item forged by human hands hundreds and thousands of years ago. Incredibly amazing! Highly recommend if you truly appreciate arts. Wow!!!! The Salt Lake City Public Library is amazing. The architecture is very original and well thought out. The library itself is great in all the ways you could imagine. They have computers on each floor that are connected to the internet. There is plenty of space for lounge chairs and private rooms. They even have a little strip mall inside and outside. Now they have a garden outside with signs of the different herbs and plants. Must see for all ages. Parking is available underground. The Leonardo Museum is located on the same blockJ G

Wonderful place to hang out and view. This is such an architectural beautiful space. Great for wedding photos, graduation photos too I imagine! There is so much here and so many books. I’m a bit overwhelmed! They also have a maker space with 3D printers, audio room, sewing equipment, etc. For those concerned about the homeless; I wouldn’t be. There is a wonderful, large area for children downstairs, furnished with little couches, tucked away theme areas to get away from the masses and read to your little ones. The themes make it feel like your in the story! So much available to make reading exciting for your children and you! Clark planetarium is a two story high interactive experience for all ages , there are lots of exhibits like a tornado simulator, a static ball ,a large globe that changes from planet to planet to give visitors a visual perspective of our solar system . There are many things for children to touch like a fog simulator a giant meteorite, a light pad that responds to your touch and many other education science based activities there is even a play ground with slides and tubes that open up into a large star lit area for little ones to explore. This planetarium has a Imax theater that there is a fee for, a concession stand is located upstairs serving things like theater popcorn ,soda, candy ice cream and nachos for a reasonable price and if your a member the movies and snacks are cheaper . There is also a large gift shop with items ranging from jewelry to science toys and stuffed animals and clothes everything isn't terribly overpriced. This facility is free to enter all of the interactive activities are all free as well, this planetarium is a very open space perfect for handicap individuals to get around there is a very large elevator to make it easy to get upstairs. Clark planetarium is located in downtown Salt lake City next to the vivit arena ,parking near the facility is $ 2.25 a hour but on Saturdays parking is free and the fee is not enforced. In this general area there are many restaurants including food halls and shopping the city creek mall is near by and that place is a great way to see a variety of shops and dining options it even has a small creek running through it, if walking isn't your thing you can rent a scooter or book one of the many high-end hotels in the down town area. I recommend this planetarium as a must go for families with children or for those who want to know more about our solar system. The hours are located on there website.Stacy Dutt

We love the Clark Planetarium! There is always something new for the kids and we will spend hours here going through each floor. My favorite part is that it's free to get in and look around. The only thing you will pay for is the movies which are also pretty cool. The gift shop is a bit pricy but not too bad. They are opening a new exhibit on the 3rd floor that looks like play area for kids with the nasa space ship. Can't wait to come back!Karina Bertelli

I have always loved this place since I was a little kid, but I would recommend this for kids or adults. It is Free (which is rare these days) and the popcorn is a sneaky little snack in the heart of SLC. It probably has not only some of the coolest exhibits in the state, but also one of the best gift shops. You can find anything there. Finally, their rube-goldberg machine is fantastic! My children have attended Rowland Hall since they were 3 years old. Today one is in 6th grade and the other in 9th grade. We have all enjoyed being part of the Rowland Hall community. The teachers know each student personally and encourage students to be their absolute best selves, not only academically but personally. There are many things I appreciate about Rowland Hall, including the academics, community, staff, teachers, volunteer program, outside learning experiences, class trips, and the list goes on and on, but the number one thing I love about Rowland Hall is that my daughters love school. I like to visit gardens and nature centers while traveling. I was able to fit in Red Butte Garden on a Sunday afternoon before dinner while visiting Salt Lake City. The entrance is very inviting , you can almost sense the beauty that you are about to experience before you even open the doors. The staff was extremely cheerful and friendly. They took care of our ticketing, one girl complimented my necklace, the other made sure to tell us where to start and guided us towards the map (which was very helpful). There are some many different garden areas … every twist and turns leads to more breathing beauty and an overload of pleasure to your senses as you smell the heavenly scents, see and touch all the different plants and flowers and hear the birds. Everything is so peaceful! There are so many little spots kind of hidden from the main path you could spend all day nestled in nature. There were also lots of hiking trails we did not get to experience. We hiked morning and night our entire Utah trip , including all morning this day, so at this point (our very last day in Utah) we were just looking to experience calm and relaxation and that’s exactly what we got! The gift shop is wonderful and even the vistors center has lots to see if you want to explore more. There was a photography exhibit going on … but also other beautiful plant rooms and even the stair cases going up are adorned with nature! I really loved it here and if we ever go back to Utah again, I will put this on my list of to-dos… and stay there 1/2 the day!Chrissy Costigan

This is a gorgeous garden with a variety of flora and habitat to explore. We went in the fall just as they were preparing for their Halloween event, which looks incredibly fun. The whole comlex is accessible, even up to the top, and there are so many paths and nooks to discover, let alone trails around the gardens, that you could visit several times and see new sights each time. The gift shop has a fabulous selection of souvenirs, gifts, and art and the buildings are full of color and light to match the gardens. Gorgeous place for a lovely walk and peaceful spots for relaxation. Wheelchair accessible, some steep slopes and inclines but totally manageable. Loved the herb, medicinal, and fragrance gardens. Tons of flowers, bees, and butterflies while we were here. Lots of benches for seated opportunities. I think this is a lovely walking space for exercise. You can do as many loops and varieties of paths. Staff were super friendly to accommodate us, we needed to store one piece of luggage and backpack, as we made this one hour pit stop bedore our flight.Cherilyn Jones

Still a good zoo for being on the smaller side. Tons of unique animals and for the most part, visible during our visit. It was extremely hot, 100 degrees, so many opted for the shade and just lying around. A nice touch for visitors was the many mist fans spread around the zoo. Few comments: $3 dollars per person for the train is more than it is worth. When it gets renovated, this may be a fair price, until then, charge a $1 or make it free. Outside the first 200 meters on the train, there is nothing to see. The reptile, small animal exhibit was under construction i think. It never explicitly said. For my military people, no discount, however, you can save $2 dollars per person if booked online. Went on a "slow day" according to lady at ticket gate and it was amazing! You're able to get pretty close to animals with the way they set up thier exhibits. Zoo is on the smaller side but their layout is great, you dont have to walk a long ways between exhibits but nothing feels crammed together either. Right at the entrance they had a sign displaying times and locations of events for the day. Plenty of misting spots to help keep cool on hot days – was about 90F when I went. They do have opportunities to feed animals as well for an extra cost – giraffes and rhinos were options when I went, and there are times of the year they offer elephant feedings as well Visited on

We absolutely enjoyed our day at the zoo. We went on a Tuesday morning/afternoon and it was not crowded at all. Hardly lines for concessions, no lines to get it, no lines at the gift shop. And every single staff member I encountered was so pleasant and helpful. The animals were awesome as well. It had been years since the last time I visited and the improvements and additions were excellent. My favorite was the building with the seals and polar bears. Very cool. I would completely recommend visiting and if I lived within visiting distance, I would be looking into season passes. Visited on

This school has gone so far down hill. It is very sad because it has so much potential. After graduating I realized I had absolutely NO idea how to function in the real world. They do not teach you anything you need to know. I was so embarrassed when I started college. They don't teach you any life skills whatsoever. I had to learn how to do taxes from the absolute basics because that word was never even mentioned to me in school. I transferred here as a freshman from a different school. I was in a Sophomore math class at Juan Diego, but they said they didn't let freshmen take classes in other grades so they just threw me into an advanced algebra class, which I had already taken in 8th grade after I had already been doing good in geometry. Also, you would really think that having a uniform would lower the amount of clothing related distractions, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Almost the whole staff spends way too much time just trying to find something wrong with your appearance. I had teachers that would literally spend the first 20 minutes of class walking around doing uniform checks. If your shoes weren't black or brown you got detention, shirt not tucked in, detention, if they found out you didn't buy your clothes from their shop, detention. The school also favors anyone who has parents that donate to the school. Those kids got away with doing drugs on a regular basis, but anyone else was automatically expelled. Don't waste your time or money here. It really isn't worth it.Hazel show

We enrolled my daughter at Judge, as a least worst option. She has ADD and needs a lot of support, both at home and at school. We have not found Judge to be supportive of any student outside of the perfect little kid. Judge is a school where the rules are what is important, not the kid. If your socks don't match, you go to detention. If your shirt isn't tucked in, you go to detention. If you hug someone of the same sex, they wonder if you are gay. Judge will crush a student academically, if they step out of bounds. If you want your child to go to college, Judge isn't the right school for you. If your child is a person, who is slightly different, then go somewhere else. Rather than the school being there for the student, they believe the students are there to serve their silly little rule book.Daniel H

Going to Judge was literally the best thing that ever happened to me. Not only did it prepare me for college academically, but professionally and socially as well. I made the friends of a lifetime there and was able to participate in professional organizations like Junior Classical League and Rotary Interact. I know a lot of people don't like Judge because it is strict and rule oriented, and it's true that if you cannot follow the rules, you won't fit in. But honestly, I loved how strict Judge was and I think more students should wear uniforms and be taught proper manners. It made me a better person and it's not like it crushed the social scene at all either. I loved my Judge experience and I was honestly sorry to graduate.Emily Strand

The Capitol Theatre is one of the most amazing buildings in Salt Lake City. Even just stopping in to admire the architecture is worth it. Seeing the Nutcracker in this theatre though is really something to behold! The Ballet West Nutcracker is the longest running nutcracker in the Nation, and they recently changed the costumes and added some new sets and set decorations that truly bring you into the story. Every transitioning scene has a set so that you see guests arrive to front door of the home as the story starts, the foyer of the home as the guests get settled, the evolution of our world shrinking as we fall into the dream that is the Nutcracker. Such an iconic historical architectural element of Utah. From the ornate columns to the engineered acoustical space. The lobby has been updated, but the theatre holds true to it's time. The orchestra pit throws the notes evenly. The sound is pure. Lovely space, sights, entertainment and sounds. There is a concession area with very reasonable prices (take note usana). The line moves quickly. However the seating isn't the most comfortable. I think southwest airlines modeled their layout from Capitol. There are usually intermissions for the much needed stretch. All in all, it's an experience worth experiencing. Go out.Jeremiah Robker

The Capitol theater is an amazing place to watch a live performance! The lower level was renovated in 2019 so the seats are comfortable and roomy. The top level has not been renovated and is a bit more crowded. For now they require all patrons to wear a mask at all times during performances and the ushers do walk around and check. I appreciated the extra precautions I’ve seen ballet west perform here on three different occasions. I already have plans to see their next performance in February.Jason Lutz

We had a birthday party for our 3 and 4 year old. We had kids from 2 all the way up to 11 and they were all super engaged and super excited for each step. As parents we were able to step back and just enjoy the fun the kids were having without having a mess to clean or making sure all the kids were entertained and safe. The employees were great with the kids! They entertained but were also firm when safety called for it without hurting feelings which isn’t easy! The party rooms are pretty spacious and we loved the privacy they offered for the presents and cake.We were super impressed overall and felt like it was money well spent and super reasonable for what we got. May have an amazing experience for our 7 and 9 year olds. They both love experiments at home, but this place takes it to a whole different level. They have everything organized and explained through a binder and the kids could do the experiments they chose. One hour is not enough! We did 2.5 hours and that was perfect. This was THE coolest birthday party. My son and his friends had a lot of fun and the facilities are great for bday parties: private rooms all set up but also the laboratory right next door. Another thing to keep in mind is THE STAFF!! Having knowledgeable employees can go a long way in a normal laboratory, but when its filled with 7-year-olds, it takes an extra special skill and a lot of patience.Patrick K

My son, who was in high school, and my daughter, who was in middle school, both used High Performance Tutoring last year. We all were extremely pleased with the results and grateful for their assistance. Both my son and daughter are very good students, but occasionally need a little extra help. Over the past few years we have tried a number of other tutoring services, but the challenge we faced was that they did not need enough help in any single subject to justify a weekly tutor. When they did need help, it was difficult to find a tutor on short notice and the quality of the tutors that we were able to find varied greatly. With High Performance Tutoring, for my son, they were able to find a tutor who could help with both Honors Chemistry and with math. This made weekly sessions very helpful and cost effective. Between the two classes, there was always something to work on or review. My daughter only needed help with math and then only with some concepts. With High Performance Tutoring, I was able to call when she needed help and they would find someone who could work with her in the next day or two. For most sessions, she was able to work with the same tutor, but every tutor that she worked with was wonderful. After trying out several others, including the resources available at the University I attend, I finally had great success when High Performance Tutoring got me in touch with Victor Camacho. I had previously had Victor as a Trigonometry professor at the university where I excelled in is class way more than i usually do. His more laid back and understanding teaching style made me feel very comfortable and excited to attended his class. All of this transferred over ten fold to our one on one chemistry tutoring sessions. I would come in with a huge list of problems and questions and we would work through them at a pace that I would retain all he was saying as well as achieving the task of answering all of my questions. I then recommended Victor to my roommate for Calculus tutoring and he had the same outcome, loved him!George Rodney

After taking the ACT test several times and receiving scores that did not reflect my academic capability, I decided to tutor with High Performance Tutoring. I started meeting with a highly qualified tutor, Victor Camacho, and immediately began to see results. Victor honed in on the skills that needed improvement and gave me excellent strategies to complete the content of the ACT in the timed increments. Victor easily worked around my schedule and was always prepared for my session. He never made me feel incapable of accomplishing my goal. Rather, I was encouraged, supported, and congratulated on my improvement, even if it was small. My daughter has attended MCS since kindergarten and is currently in 4th grade. We have LOVED MCS as it has been a great fit for my daughter academically and socially. For some context, I'm a Professor in education at the University of Utah and I teach/train people who will become general and special education teachers. Although the music portion is a major highlight and strength of the school for me it was an added bonus. I chose MCS due to it's focus on evidenced-based academic and social/behavioral programs/curricula. The focus on prevention, identifying students early who may struggle through screening assessments and on implementing positive behavior support were all factors supporting my decision to enroll my daughter in MCS. My daughter is Latina and the diverse student population was another factor in my decision as it's difficult to find this level of diversity in a school near our home. I spend a lot of time in schools, observing teachers, providing feedback, etc. Hands down MCS has some of the best teachers (and teachers aides/paraprofessionals) I have ever encountered! They are there for the right reasons….they love to teach and are invested in our students' learning. Having so many specials (PE, Art, Music, Spanish/Latin, Technology) ensures that homeroom teachers get their much needed breaks and prep time to maintain high quality. I cannot say enough positive things about MCS. My husband and I (both medical professionals) have two children at the school: in Pre-K (girl) and 1st grade (boy); they could not be less alike in terms of their interest in schoolwork – our daughter is very Type A and self-motivated, while our son is a certified daydreamer who requires a lot of (loving, compassionate) structure in order to get focused on learning. MCS turns out to be the perfect school for both of them, both academically and socially, and both of them feel so connected to their school. I've often joked that the teachers at MCS are clearly magical and have somehow tricked my little boy into being focused and happily interested in learning/performing well at school. We are continuously impressed that a school with such a rigorous academic curriculum is simultaneously masterful at developing its students as empathetic, outward thinking, responsible citizens. Superimpose all of this with an incomparable music/humanities curriculum beginning in Pre-K, and there is truly no other school that compares. (and the tuition, set, in part, by the catholic diocese, is literally a fraction of that of several of the other private schools in SLC.) I currently have an eighth grader and a second-grader at MCS. Our family is in its fifth year at the school, with our daughter beginning in fourth grade and our son beginning in pre-K. The school is an extremely impressive academic, artistic, and musical experience for the students. I have very much enjoyed the warmth and connectedness of all of the parents and staff at the school. My daughter started at the school with no musical background and has improved immensely. My son began at MCS and is progressing well emotionally, behaviorally, academically, musically, and artistically. Utah Parent Center is a great resource for anyone with a family member with special needs. They were there for us over 20 years ago when our son was born with a rare syndrome. Through the years when we have encountered roadblocks whether it was with the school district or finding services they were there to give helpful advice or guide us to appropriate resources and people. I have referred several people to their office for help. I have taken advantage of classes on guardianship and other things that would benefit our family. This past weekend I was able to share information from their website on an issue another family was dealing with. Utah is very blessed to have this resource in our state. I reached out for an advocate to attend a meeting for my child to simply express the magnitude that a simple mistake could affect an indivudual with special needs. According to the emails, this center will only allow an advocate if it pertains to an IEP. Nothing more. All I got was resources for an 'Inclusion Project' and not what I specifically requested. In the other email, last I didnt get a response. I felt no kind of support from this organization. Appalling. Disappointing. I will NEVER reach out again. In response: I'd appreciate if someone reached out again as I didn't have all my questions answered per my last email.Krystle F.

The UPC has well trained people waiting to assist families in navigating school policies for IEP and 504 meetings, transition options, and more. They offer classes monthly on disability related classes that you can attend online or in person. Just get on the mailing list to get the links. Call them to find out who the consultant for your geographic location is. They work with districts, charter and any school. I've worked with two consultants in meetings and have loved both. I've had calls with others when mine were on vacation and I've never been disappointed with their knowledge and skill level.Tessa UW

This is a small studio tucked away on the second floor of an older office building. Beware— it is NOT easy to find, and parking is even harder. After the fact, I was told “if you get a parking ticket in this specific lot we will cover it- in the adjacent lot, we will not”— which is to highlight how difficult and convoluted the parking situation is, which isn’t detailed on their website. The studio is heated, which I personally love. The power sequence was the exact same in each class, even though I took two different ones. The studio has a beautiful view of the mountains, which was centering and grounding and 10/10. The studio itself is older and offers no amenities besides shampoo/conditioner in the two small showers (no towels, no visible water fountain, no face or hand towels, no working paper towel dispenser, etc). Either a $5 or $8 charge to rent a mat and a yoga towel, depending who rang me up (and despite the promise that your first rental is free). The patrons of the studio seemed friendly enough with one another, but a real sticking point to me was the lack on welcoming or inclusivity by the yoga instructors or employees of the studio itself. I made it known on multiple occasions that I was new and visiting, unfamiliar with the space, etc. and no one bothered to ask or engage me in any way, despite my attempts to be friendly. The most specific encounters where it felt the least welcoming were with the yoga instructor herself (Sarah), whom I had as a teacher twice in less than 24 hours and on both accounts tried to have small talk with. To be clear- she was very willing to talk to regulars, but definitely not someone new. I would not recommend this studio if you are visiting and looking for a place to feel welcomed.Marci Jacobs

Super grateful I survive every class in a puddle of sweat and tears. I am so addicted to the defeat I feel after each class that I keep going back, you couldn’t keep me away if you tried!! Lol Seriously tho, classes are really challenging and all the teachers are amazing. This place is body positive and a good place to practice being challenged in your yoga skills. Probably the hardest yoga I have ever done in my whole life and I love it. Some days I feel defeated and others I feel like I’ve risen to the occasion— but regardless of the outcome I always walk out with a smile for challenging myself to do something that is both positive and hard. Salt Lake Power Yoga has had a profoundly positive impact on my life. The staff is super helpful and friendly. Each instructor creates a safe and empowering environment that allows you to truly focus on your own individual practice. They offer a wide variety of classes from calm and restorative sessions to intense 75 minute detoxes. I've been pushed to my absolute physical limit multiple times (in the best way possible) and as a result have broken through barriers that I didn't think possible. There's a genuine sense of community at SLPY and I plan on being apart of it for years to come.Brad Nottingham

I’m REALLY glad I made the decision to put my daughter here! It was a tough call because it is a little bit pricey for a preschool, but it has been worth every penny and then some. We did a full week schedule from 8-4pm ( although we could have used them from 7am-6pm which is regular hours). My daughter had no interest in learning before and I wasn’t sure how she would do because she had been home with me full time. But, Challenger and the amazing staff including miss Annette made her feel so welcome that she begs to stay for longer every single day. And she loves going to school so much that she wants to have a Challenger birthday party. Ha! Not only that, but she loves learning. And in less than a year has gone from knowing nothing to knowing how to read words with 4-5 letters, do math problems, and has learned some very interesting science facts and historical details. This school is amazing!! And I really don’t have enough words to praise the miracle that Challenger West Jordan is. The kids all seem to love it. We get together with other moms and they have nothing but praise as well. Their academics are way beyond that of public school, and I am going to be sending my other daughter there for summer school to help fill in the gap that she gets from a public education. I can’t recommend Challenger enough. Even if you can only afford it for a bit, it is well worth it if you are looking for a high quality education and a place that your kid wants to go back to each day.Chris-Cariessa Taylor

My daughter has attended the West Jordan Challenger school for 4 years and my son has attended for 2 years. We LOVE this campus. Every teacher we have had has been amazing. The teachers are great at engaging the students in the curriculum and they always look like they are having just as much fun as the kids are. My kids always come home from school excited about what they learned and excited to tell me about it. I am also very impressed with Mrs Matthews, the headmaster, because she knows every child's name. The Challenger School curriculum has worked really well for my kids. I initially chose Challenger School because it focused on getting the students reading by the end of preschool. I have been happy with the results as both of my kids were able to sound out words and read very simple stories by the end of 4 year old preschool. Another reason that I chose Challenger School was because of a recommendation that I received from a friend. She had her 3 kids go to two years of preschool at Challenger, and she said that it gave them a love of learning. I found this to be true for my kids as well. The information is presented to the kids in a fun and engaging way. The preschoolers have SO many songs for what they are learning and it made the learning easier and more fun. I would highly recommend Challenger School for anyone who wants their kids to read early, develop a love for learning, and to get ahead academically.Chela Williams

Best choice I have ever made!! I am so happy and impressed with the level of education provided at Challenger – West Jordan. The Head Master is an amazing leader, she is extremely involved and knows all the kids attending the school by name and knows where they are at in their development and curriculum. Teachers are very approachable and answer any questions parents may have, they stay longer if they have to, just to make sure we understand everything. They have a great reward system where kids learn to work hard in order to reach their goals. Our family relocated to Utah in December in the middle of the school year. This was stressful for us as parents and was a little different for our two boys too. The team at Challenger made sure it was an easy process and transition. They are great at communicating and call you if anything happens with the kids. We recommend Challenger – West Jordan to all parents who value education and want a school where they will be valued and treated as individuals rather than treated as a number.Chloe Comes

Alta Summer Camp was an amazing experience for our kids (ages 5 and 7). The staff were amazing, so warm, friendly and fun. The activities allowed for enough choice that both kids found their happy place (one loved the hiking and the other the art). The location is beautiful and the fact that we didn’t have to worry about packing lunch or snacks made our lives so much easier. I highly, highly recommend this camp! It’s probably the best summer camp experience our family had ever had and it’s so clear how much love and attention the staff put into making the experience wonderful for the kids. Alta Camp was AMAZING!!!! It was so well organized, and the kids were outdoors all day. The food was very healthy. The van rides to and from, and the daily schedules were perfectly organized. Ilse and the camp counselors were so easy to communicate with during the day via the app, and they provided lots of photos. I fully credit Alta Summer Camp for teaching my kids (ages 5 and 9) to be good hikers! They enjoy hiking now and don't complain like they used to. haha. Besides that, this camp is incredible in so many ways. Ilse, the Director, is so thoughtful about the program and the counselors are fun and engaging with the kids.
