20 Best Radiology Programs In Charleston, SC (2022 Updated)

My stepfather who admitted himself in for feeling unwell, and was terminally ill, sadly never had a chance to walk out of icu. He walked in one day in October and never walked out a few days later. When he admitted himself in, he was talking and walking and very coherent. A couple days later, he wasnt any of those three. Maybe they couldn't save him, it was his time..maybe it wasnt…but he was doing way better when he admitted himself in, then laying in his deathbed in icu. When I came in to visit him, he couldn't talk, and had blood practically pooling in his mouth, all over his teeth, gums, tongue and hands. Blood literally all in his mouth, practically coughing and choking on his own blood. The doctors and nurses weren't helping him AT ALL. WE HAD TO MAKE A NURSE GET ALL THE BLOOD OUT HIS MOUTH SO HE WOULD QUIT CHOKING ON HIS OWN BLOOD. IT WAS THE MOST HORRIFYING THING I HAVE EVER SEEN. THEY SHOULD OF DONE MORE THAN NOTHING AT ALL. IT WAS A HOSPITAL OF HORRORS. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL, COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. PERIOD. Yeah, nice building but that might be the last thing you see… My own experience, when in because I'm 150% positive I have blood clots in my leg, they did blood work and charged me almost $2,000 for just blood work. I went in the ER, was never put in a room, sat on a hospital bed in the hallway for 3+ hours…the entire time. It was not a private visit…everyone heard everything that was said and discussed. I begged for an x-ray, MRI anything that would show blood clots. They refused and told me it was either bruising or nothing at all. No its not bruising, because ive had this "bruising" for months… Going to another hospital for a second opinion. The doctor or student whoever is was that saw me walked out the same time I did, and beat me to the cafeteria. They let me leave when they were leaving. We practically walked out together. Tell me, HOW DO I KNOW MORE MEDICAL INFORMATION ABOUT MY CONDITION THEN THEY DO?! When I told them what condition I thought I had, they never heard about it and was googling it in front of me!! I told them more information than they even knew!!! Dont waste time and money on a hospital that employees Dont seem to know information medically they are suppose to know and be learning about. I watched my own stepfather suffer and die in the hands of these unprofessional. How many others are suffering from the hands of them?A McCoy

My husband was concerned about his heart and was treated by the MUSC chest pain center at Ashley Towers. The team was professional and knowledgeable and empathetic. They listened carefully to our concerns and asked every conceivable question. They ordered the appropriate test and analysis for his condition. The medical care provided was great but the cleaning service sucked. My friend stayed for 6 days, when they placed him in the room someone else's paperwork was on the table,used medical supplies were on the counter, the trashcan had used adult briefs in it, the floor had not been swept and blood was on the floor (that was not his). i came in for one reason to get job after graduation been going on two yrs feels like high school classes. Im a criminal Justice major and i like program except one huge thing it needs more hands traning so you prepared for the job once you graduate and not have move on for four degree and they need to have dorminties to live on i hardly see people on campus it almost empety they have two many campuses they need to have one and the paint falling off the school. The advisors are literally the worst I have seen. They are basically unaware of how to advise, impossible to reach, don't follow through, and give no recommendations on pre requisite classes. Now the health science department is even worse. The instructors pride themselves on a high failure percentage. They deviate from school policy and ALL Bio 210 and 211 professors are arrogant and unwilling to support your child. Stay away from the arrogant professors, AND they don't care about your future.AB Gentry

this technical college is the best technical college in south carolina, there was a problem with the workers at the edgefield campus, they lost my transcripts, and they tried to cancel my advisement appointment so they could meet their boyfriend in the parking lot, the students at the edgefield campus were rude, and trashy, they are not going to stop me from going there, the classes that you have to take are wonderful, the instructional methods are excellentJessica Taylor

This is a neighborhood school in the cheraw/Chesterfield region. A really nice size school. Within is pleasantly improved and there is a data window just as an understudy administration window. They pass by room numbers, which isn't excessively useful. I really went to a couple of various entryway until I arrived at the right area. The school should put indications of the specific offices so guests will have no issues once nearby grounds of tracking down the right office. A portion of the staff isn't useful. It is difficult to contact individuals and they don't return calls. I don't suggest this area except if you can't resist. This is a local area community college in the cheraw/Chesterfield area. A pretty decent size school. The inside is nicely decorated and there is a information window as well as a student service window. They go by room numbers, which is not too helpful. I actually went to a few different door until I landed at the right location. The school should put signs of the particular departments so that visitors will have no issues once on campus grounds of finding the correct department. Some of the staff is not helpful. It is hard to reach people and they do not return phone calls. I do not recommend this location unless you can't help it. Great place to learn. Helps you get your credits for a lot cheaper than basically anywhere else. Teachers are great. School has a lot of events open to every student. Great local university offering a solid education, but lacking administration. For its size, USC Upstate offers an impressive number of courses, specializing in education and nursing. The vast majority of professors employed at Upstate are talented individuals and gifted teachers, very skilled at imparting knowledge on students. The actual grounds and structures of Upstate are well kept up, and consistently being updated, improved, and added on. As an alumnus, I am thoroughly happy with the education that I received at Upstate. My only complaint about Upstate is the administrative department. Admissions, financial aid, and any other non-education portion of the school seems disconnected and completely unaware. I frequently had to call or stop by to address what seemed to be extremely minor issues, only to spend hours running around to find a fix. My wife applied, never received an acceptance letter, but she later received a confirmation of financial aid. Never assume they've handled an issue that you have any concerns about. USC Upstate is a great school, one that I will continually offer my support for. However, they could definitely improve the admissions department, and all other administrative facets of the school. Stay on top of any issues before they become urgent and you should do just fine here.Jake Hennett

EDITED TO ADD: changed review from 2 stars to 3. The University did remove the charges for the meal plan and I do not think they require 100% virtual students to pay the meal plan anymore. The second semester resulted in a slightly better experience regarding the online education format. We plan to enroll in more in person classes next semester. Several professors last semester did not seem proficient with the virtual/online format or appear to care that students weren't getting the same or comparable education to in person classes. I wish we had enrolled in a fully distance learning program elsewhere, as they are proficient with everything online learning entails. Also, when choosing a University, many compare tuition costs. However, the fees each semester are significant and sometimes defy logic. For example, why would a student who doesn't even live on campus and is taking 100 percent online courses and never goes on campus be forced to purchase a meal plan???Lisa Bishop

This college is a joke, I hate that I even transferred here. I should of looked at these reviews before I even thought about attending. I'm going to try my best to get out this university. The staff here always gives you the run around, seems very uneducated and not much helpful to make your transfer goes as smooth as possible. I hate this school already and I haven't even started yet till next week. Plus if you are a veteran you basically have to do everything yourself, they don't know their job and you have to figure out everything on your own. Something is always missing. They are clueless. I can't tell you how many times I had to take trips up there because my phone calls were never returned and I'm not even a current student yet, or they tell you your good to start school in the upcoming semester then something else pops up you need in order to start. Small yet thriving village! Faculty a d staff made us feel as if we were blood relatives vs. Paying parents of future Alumni ❤ . Due to the pandemic, students have not much to do. I'd rather a bored child vs. Crying over my child any day. Registration along with move in day was very swift. Tuition is very affordable as well. Most importantly, the campus is safe with visible security/Public Safety. The President will even Great you with a warm smile and is very eager to assist you with any questions or concerns personally unlike large Colleges or Universities! This means alot. Denmark Tech changed my life because I was able to go to school locally, affordably, and come away with my associate in Science and Practical Nursing Degree. The single-parent program paid for most of my baby sitter expenses, while the work study program paid $10/hr for me to work as a peer tutor. Hhmm.. I would say that the school is ok overall. The staff are willing to help you if you want to help yourself.. so if you go in and pay you won’t be very successful but if you go in and be about your business and stay focus, you will be successful. I really like the flexibility of the online courses, the affordability and the variety of degree options they have. My advisors and teachers have been very great but communicating with the other staff at this school is very frustrating. The employees in the financial aid department are very rude and condescending and they hang up on you abruptly whenever they get frustrated with you. The registar’s office is by far the WORST. Very nasty employees in that department who talk down to you and treat you like a child. They seem to forget they work for a college, not an elementary school. One spent 10 minutes arguing on the phone with me just because I wanted my new advisor’s phone number and email. The “career counselors” offer no type of help or advice and they just tell you to “google it” whenever you have a basic question about a certain major. They are also very judgmental if you express a desire to finish with only an associates degree and not transfer to a 4 year, not considering not everyone has the financial means to do so. The call center employees are very disrespectful and seem like they want to find reasons to argue with callers. There are also huge issues with miscommunication at this school and everyone seems to have different answers about certain topics which causes a lot of errors. Certain departments are also not great about contacting back even after leaving numerous voicemails/emails. Overall I like the school itself but they need to either retrain the employees on basic respect and customer service or they need to hire new ones.Resident Anon

The teachers here are all outstanding and they make you feel like they want you to succeed. I have taken College Algebra, Biology and Spanish in the classroom and the instructors were all topnotch. There is also additional help available to students in the free math lab and writing centers as well as Spanish tutoring. The online classes are not that confusing but you do need to pay attention because sometimes you are required to take classes through third-party online textbooks via the access codes. The only problems I had were with transferring credits to the school and getting contradictory information from the financial aid office on one occasion. I do wish the school did a better job with advising students but I understand the logistics issues. Everyone at the hub is friendly and helpful! Use them they are a great resource. To all the people that left negative reviews, I would say "you get out what you put in". This is college and you get treated like an adult.Linda Brady

I was informed that I'm not eligible to apply to the online MBA program because I don't meet the work experience requirements (I have over 6 years of work experience – just not managerial/professional). The business school is not even accredited by any of the 3 major business school accrediting agencies (ACBSP, AACSB, or IACBE), which is actually rare to find in a university as large as UC. Yes, they are a “member of ACBSP” but they are NOT accredited by this agency. Having any of these business accreditations assures students that its business programs are of high quality and adheres to standards based on latest research and business practices. AACSB is the gold standard that uses research as base on practice and accredits private and public universities like Harvard and many state universities. ACBSP/IACBE usually accredits insituitions that are either have created new business programs and are looking to be AACSB accredited or are lower ranking than AACSB acccredited ones and usually uses a occupational & hands on approach to learning. Without out said accreditation(s) the UC mba program actually ranks lower than many for profit business schools like University of Phoenix, Devry University, & Capella- who are all at least accredited by ACBSP, which should be looked at as the bare minimum for students looking into MBA programs.Josh Esc

Aiken Tech is the best school I have ever went to. Compared to Peru State(NE), & Suffolk Community College(NY).. The professors are great, very helpful. THEY want YOU to learn the material and pass. They are not there to TRY and flunk you. The president is very friendly and kind as well as the staff members. They really want to help you achieve your goals. The library is great, very nice atmosphere, and very resourceful. The school has an academic success center where they provide FREE tutoring!! How awesome is that! I also love how new the school looks compared to other schools. Brand new computers in the math lab. PS. Great Security, and Officers that patrol the school. They are always around. Worth test center! I went there for CNA skills test. I was doing Bed pan procedure. Even I was doing wrong. I was trying to wipe it down. The lady snatched the paper towels out of me. That was rude. And another guy was doing blood pressure procedure. Machine was broken. But they didn't help him. So They failed him. That is so rude and unprofessional. We are paying money for the test! My siblings and I have attended this school. I'm currently obtaining my Pharmacy Technician degree. There were some times where my siblings had to retake classes because the school wouldn't accept them even though it was what the requirement really said. I have had a few bad instructors but most of the time I've had great teachers. I guess it really depends on the student. I went to midlands tech for many years. I struggled through the nursing program (and associates in arts and associated in science programs) for years as a single mother of a child with disabilities who was also exiting a decade long abusive relationship. I walked on a broken foot for four months through Clinicals in order to make it, had a foot surgery, totaled cars, and 20+ hours a week of therapies for my son with disabilities. And still I made it to my LPN semester only to end up in the hospital the last week before finals. I was told that I could not have a medical drop as I had received one for my foot surgery and was forced to take test 3,4, and the final in the week following my visit to the hospital. My grade dropped from a 90 to a 79.4 and I was told that I’d have to repeat everything all over again. The ombudsman and the VP went to Mrs. Bannister and begged her to allow an exception based off of the healthcare related nature of my situation and she refused. This place ruined my life and left me with no way to support my child and no nursing career after I already had a job waiting for me on the surgical trauma floor at Richland. After everything I lived through and survived. I am still traumatized. This place will ruin your life. DO NOT ATTEND THIS COLLEGE! Edit: In addition to my previous post this school is taking it a step further and denying me the right to participate in graduation after everything I have been through due to me being locked out of my MTC email (PS who only sends email info on a school email? nothing in the mail?) and was unable to receive the notification in time and they are now refusing my participation in graduation. I wish I could let anyone at that school know what they've done to me, my family, and my life. I HATE THIS SCHOOL and I've never hated anyone or anything!Danielle D Jacobs

I am in the Computer Technology program and am supposed to be completing my last semester, however we are at midterm and I am now finding out I have 1 more class to take . This is particularly infuriating because not only did my advisor tell me how many courses i needed to take to graduate, but Financial aid department told me that the aid for the semester was awarded based on how many credit hours i needed to graduate (I am taking the classes that I was told and showed I needed). Overall, in my 2 years as a student, my opinion has always been that's it is very much a subpar school-regarding the staff as well as education quality. My first semester (my education foundation) I had 2 that didn’t care and literally booted you out of the classroom before class was over as they had other things to do. The computer advisors are extremely ill prepared to help anyone. They continuously have no idea what each class will teach you, do not know which classes you should take for any career path, and are usually new personnel each semester. I, like many other students here, have a family outside of school and do not have the means to be a student and unemployed for another semester. Also, they don't have ANY tutors for the computer department! This makes things VERY difficult. The teachers do what they can in their office hours, and I can name 3 or 4 that are worth calling a teacher/professor and actually care about the subject and students. They claim to help you find a job after, and boast they have company’s asking them for their graduates… however this is not easily accessed, nor are there plentiful opportunities once graduated. The level of education and subjects taught seem not to be in line at all with what is desired by companies.srnclb

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible experiences! I have attended multiple semesters here and each one is more of a dumpster fire than the last. I have never had such difficulty with anything in my life or dealt with such rude, spiteful, or plan MEAN faculty members. I have been told countless times to quit my job and focus only on school, please tell me how being the sole provider for my family that would work? Followed by the staffs refusal to talk with me about options when I refuse to quit my job and have to look for odd times to attend classes. This school has been a GIGANTIC regret and I have only ever dealt with about two people that actually cared and WANTED to help like a decent educator would. Clean cut at its best. Given the shenanigans going on at most college campuses today, it was nice to see respect and professionalism on display everywhere. No ragged and torn clothing, no Rand McNally maps running up and down arms (tattoos) no steel dangling from noses, no pants hanging half off butts, one could feel pride in America and hope for the future when touring this vast and beautiful campus. A quick tour showed this to be a non-nonsense, education first, institution. Having been in the military, it did not take me long to figure out that the "fast walkers" were freshmen. They stuck to their designated walkways, off the sidewalks for the most part, walking at a fast clip with a pronounced gait, and making sharp right turns at the corners. We would go back in a heartbeat and you should too when you start to lose faith in America. Different uniforms but it reminded me a lot of Annapolis. God bless the USA.Jack

“The Citadel” is the Pride of the South! We have quite a few family and friends that are graduates of The Citadel. My son will be graduating High School in 2023 so we took time this Summer to visit colleges with our first stop here. Our Admissions Officer, Josh Simons (also alumni) gave an excellent presentation. If you’re not serious or dedicated to higher education and pushing yourself mentally and physically to be your absolute best, this isn’t the school for you! If you’re a leader or want to be and you have honor, understand duty, respect others and authority then you may be a candidate. I have confidence and hope my son will choose to be a cadet. He’s an athlete which will only add to a positive four year experience for him.Simone

I am about to graduate from here and this was extremely difficult. You have to be mentally tough to get through this. I’m not sure why this university is not more widely recognized across the United States. I am from the North East and some people have not heard of it. Patient Care takes back seat to employee schedule Within a week I experienced unavailable care due to employee work schedule. Let’s call 4:00 to 5:00 pm the Non responsive hour at MUSC radiology department and response team. On Tuesday 9/13/22 I was having blood drawn at the Rutledge tower for my annual physical. I apparently fasted too long ( about 16 hours) and I passed out while the blood was drawn. I recovered with the help of 3 phlebotomists with ice packs and forced air. I heArd them call the MUSC response team to come check on me. A few minutes later one of the tech says the response team is not coming because it is 4:30 . They went home. I had no medical personnel check me over before I left which made me anxious about my condition but I had no alternative according to the phlebotomists. They did an admirable job looking after me and should be recognized and not reprimanded. The leadership of the hospital should be held accountable for creating a time window of no responsive teams for patients and visitors welfare. Today , 9/15/22 I had an X-ray order from my primary care doctor to X-ray my left knee due to a suspected torn ligament. I called the radiology department to make sure there would be techs to take an X-ray up to 5:00 pm. I was verbally assured that I would be looked after in radiology and have the X-ray taken. I checked in a 4:15 in Radiology in the Rutledge tower and told I will have the X-ray taken at 4:30. A saved screenshot of my confirmation from the receptionist records my check in and 4:30 X-ray. The receptionist who checked me in came to me at 4:20 to tell me all the X-ray techs had left at 4:00 today. I was told to come back tomorrow. Today I had gotten off work to come and get the X-ray. It’s disappointing that a reputable hospital and it’s departments cannot schedule their staff to be available to serve the patients with their reported skills. These problems start at the top and should be addressed by leadership and made to be held accountable. This reminds me that”The customer is not always right, but is always very powerful.” I’ll be happy to help MUSC fix its scheduling problems and help it look after it’s patients.Bob Kerr

The lack of care and compassion shown to a Person, Former MUSC Employee and My Mother is astounding to me. My Mother was placed in Hospice care on a Friday night discharged being a fall hazard and she transported by ems who didn't have a wheelchair on board. We had to borrow our neighbor wheelchair at 11pm to get Mother in the house. Hospice didn't have time to have any equipment for her which made the weekend so difficult for her. Then the awful doctor Matthew Kolher made the comment while bring students in the room he said "they eat all those fatty foods" meaning black people as her looked at my Mother. I moved her out of his care and the Hollings Cancer Center. She only returned after being told it was easier to treat her since her doctors were at MUSC. I had so many questions when reached the end of life, I called him 3 times and he nor his off returned a call regarding his patient. I know that MUSC doesn't care about most people or the patient care it's Doctor's and staff sells but this is unacceptable and if you are ever faced with needing compassionate health care please research before selecting MUSC. The lack of interest when calling was even worse. I know she was nothing to you and insurance wasn't great but she was my Mother and she she did he best and deserved better care treatment and respect than what was given by MUSC, Dr. Matthew Kolher Oncologist. Horrible hospital!!!! The doctors may know what they're doing but outside of that, this hospital is horrible!!!! My dad was at this hospital after having surgery and no one came around for days to wash him up. He was complaining to me telling me he was uncomfortable because he hadn't been washed since his surgery. Four days of passing, and he hasn't been washed! When I asked the nurse if they could wash him, she had an attitude. It's crazy, we're the ones that should of had the attitude. She tell me when she or someone get a chance, but that chance didn't come until late that next day. I went to an office there at the hospital to file a complaint and they take my complaint but tell me it's nothing they can do. I was crying because there was nothing I could do at that point to help my dad. The lady in the office confirmed that she get a lot of those same complaints, and that I should call the NEWS and report it. When I went back to my dad's room I saw the nurse, and still crying I got into an argument with her, and instead of understanding how I was feeling she called security and asked them to exscort me off the floor. Anyway, I'm from up north and I always thought the people in the south were caring friendly people but I guess I was wrong, well not at this hospital anyway.Alfreda Jones

Since my injury and having to have emergency surgery I have had nothing but exceptional care. Dr Yannascoli and her team has from the beginning and to this day have been providing treatment and ensures I have understood the scope of my injury, surgery to physical therapy that will be involved to return me as normal as possible. While they have given me great hopes for a 100 percent recovery they sadly had to state that 100 percent some of the time is not possible. Hearing this myself they have ensured me that getting to 90 percent is more likely than not. To help me understand this they have explained that even though 90 percent is not the desired outcome to 100 percent that the 10 percent loss will have very little impact on my day to day lifestyle. When you become injured and bones are broken the outcome starts with the medical care. The results while promising for me, you have to understand that things may not be what they used to be. Dr. Yannascoli has reassured me that I will do very well if I do my share of homework with PT. With the work that Dr. Yannascoli and the whole team at Trident medical orthopedic to the nurses and all in between have treated me during these trying times of COVID-19 I expect the out come to be better than 90 percent. While I was a patient at Trident medical center I was treated and cared for like I was the only patient they had to attend to. The hospital while full of patients and (sadly) NO VISITORS, the staff stepped up to the plate and took on extra duties to ensure that I received the best care to supplement the no visitor policy. With that said they continue to provide me with great treatment and helpful advice to recover to as a normal life as I have been used to. Thank you Dr. Yannascoli and Trident trauma team and hospital staff. From the kitchen, emergency room, to the nurses and anyone else involved in my care I say THANK YOU. Place is good the doctors are awesome. A few of the staff is a little extra but that tends to come out in those enforcing these extra guidelines. My son is 18 but he is special needs 18. I get that prior to the first visit and on my first visit that I would have to say that to them I get it they don't know it's to be expected. The next appointment went off without a hitch no one got extra with me it was wonderful. But by the 4th visit they stopped me at the door and act like I wasn't allowed to be in the back with my son..um yes he is allowed. My son can't comprehend how to tie his shoe and has to be bathed there is no way he can comprehend anything the doctor wants him to do. Luckily the waiting room was empty so I didn't mind as much but had there been other ppl there … nope not doing it next time I'm just going to ignore the woman at the door. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this practice. I've been seen by Dr. Gottlich and Dr. Connor and my daughter by Dr. Richter ( who is wonderful with children!)….fantastic office! The front office girls made me feel comfortable about taking my time with the paperwork. The medical assistants were very thorough with my history. The x-ray technologist is quick and accurate. And the doctors have been wonderful!! Very kind and compassionate! They are sometimes quite busy, so I've had to wait. But I know when I get back to the room, the doctor will take his time with me, just as he has with the previous patients! So be patient when it's busy…the experience is totally worth it!Jennifer

Professional and extremely patient oriented. I've had 60 or 70 injections from several pain docs and 6-8 spinal ablation from Dr Nemeth. He is by far the best with a needle I've ever seen. He talked me into trying injections without anesthesia and there was no pain although the spinal ablation require anesthesia. I would never go anywhere else as a 40 year serious back pain patient. The treatment area is just okay. Having back and neck issues, it was very uncomfortable getting back injections on a table with no opening for my head… so I had to either hold my head up and support it with my hands or twist my neck to either side. It seems that it would be an easy fix for them to get a “massage style” table for treatments. The doctor and PA are very nice and personable.Debbie Ferrer

He was very thorough and always provided several options for consideration. He also helped me navigate insurance coverage, which was an added bonus. I first came in for a covid test back in May. When I was continuing to have GI issues during the summer, my managers at work told me to go see a doctor again. So, I came back here because it was close to my home, they were nice and the wait wasn't very long. I told the staff who my insurance was with and was under the impression that everything was covered. I was never shown or told any prices for any tests, visits, or medications they gave. Well, they have no idea what your insurance covers and just sent me a bill of over $400. I tried calling their number on the bill for questions about this and no one was available to answer my call so I had to leave a message (hopefully I get a call back). I am frustrated that none of the staff ever informed me any prices for things before doing them. When I asked about my insurance, they assured me it would cover everything. Also beware, not all of the nurses are good with needles. One girl that stuck me with an IV needle made my vein collapse and got blood all over my arm and watch band.Sarah Delabat

This is by far the best urgent care i have ever been to!!! From the front desk to the MA's and the Dr. and PA's. Every one was outstanding and by far the sweetest staff ever. They made me feel like family and I was treated with respect. They listened to my problems and even answered all my questions. I never felt rushed at all. Timely waiting, fast. But the most important part is the nurses and PA's. Never met an urgent care staff that was so patient and allowed me to fully inform them of my symptoms without interruption. I absolutely love going to CVVC. The staff are all very nice and caring. Dr Keefer is top notch. I was referred to him by my OBGYN after my second child. I have been seeing him since 2018. I have had veins closed in both of my legs in his office. He was patient with me during the procedures when I started to feel nauseated. He made sure that I knew what he was doing every step of the way. We discussed that I would need more surgery on both of me legs in the future. When I saw h in 2021 after having my third child I knew that it was time for that surgery but with COVID and having a couple month old baby and two other kids it just wasn't the best time and he said it was ok just to let him know when I'm ready. Now it is August of 2022 and I'm finally ready to address my veins again. I'm getting set up for a different procedure this time to take all of the diseased veins out of my legs. It will be at Roper downtown and then I get to come home. I trust Dr Keefer's opinion on what we should do to help my legs. He has always looked out for my best interest. I look at him as more of a friend than my doctor. He even knows two of my kids because they have come to appointments at times. He was super nice to them and wasn't put off because they were there. I’ve gone to Dr. Appleby at Coastal Vascular and Vein for numerous vein closures. He and his staff always show care and concern and take time to explain procedures. Great 5-star place in general, but have to drop rating as the universal mask policy on the door and signed forms is not being enforced. This is infuriating, enforce it. My expectation is that it is done so strictly, and to be part of the solution and not part of the problem. I shouldn't be at risk of sickness because some are so selfish they won't do something as trivial as put a piece of paper on their face, especially in a medical setting. I specifically come here for this reason. Fix it or I'll have to find somewhere else.Andrew P

Was in Charleston for the weekend when I got a good cut on my leg from barbed-wire. The desk staff were fantastic in helping me figure out what to do on the phone and in person when I arrived! The medical staff were great and made the process of getting fixed up quick and easy! Hopefully won't have an accident again like this but if I did – 11/10 would get help there again!Matthew Gill

Everybody here is always very friendly and nice. As long as you’re able to call in early on their busy days it’s easy for them to work you in and get you taken care of quickly. I’ve been here twice now and both times have been very pleasant experiences. The doctors, nurses, and/or PAs are all very knowledgeable and want the best care for you. A couple reasons why this is the worst academic experience you will ever have. First, the financial aid department, as well as the bursar are extremely incompetent at their jobs. The only two options for financial aid (according to the councilor I saw) if you are not a veteran or married to a veteran is a high interest loan that will start at 12% if you already have decent credit and will go up drastically if you do not. OR a parent plus loan that will somehow grant the school right to overturn FERPA (The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, meaning YOU have to disclose what information can be shared with parents/spouses/etc) and tell your parents information that is should be protected by this Law. Next. If you want to focus on your education this is not the place for you, ranging from once to three times a month, you will get pulled out of class to take surveys and make fake reviews boosting the ratings on google, and you will get bribed with candy. Staff members will go out of their way to talk to you for no reason at all, very disruptive if you are trying to actually study or do work. Depending on the program you pick your instruction may or may not be of help to you at your time here. Ms Dionesia Craven, spent more time during class hours yelling about the Medical Assisting students and calling them not so professional names (ghetto, ratchets), and would even insult students that had children. The times when she would not yell, she would only read notes off of a PowerPoint, and give attitude or make snarky remarks if you asked for clarification or help with work. If you do get the pleasure of being in her class, you will be better off if you are able to teach yourself outside of class. She is also very insensitive to life events, I can recall many times where I spoke with her before class about needing to leave early or needing to keep my cellphone due to medical problems, and it would turn into her raising her voice and trying to make an example out of me for situations I already spoke to her about. I do not recommend this school, you should save yourself the 23k and find a different school that teaches your desired program.Maria

This college is terrible. I’ll list everything that was done from the time I started there in August of 2021 till I left in March 2022 1. Admissions lied about the times for classes once clinicals started and about the timeframe for graduation 2. The program staff constantly argued between themselves and created an incredibly hostile work and learning environment 3. Lab times were split between the previous class and the new class which was over filled. We were lucky to get a few minutes a day in labs to practice. 4. Once it came time for clinicals to start they failed to assign places and times for all of us until less than a WEEK from when we started the actual clinicals. 5.Again I found the clinical times much to my surprise were not the same hours as our normal class schedule but would take up my entire day resulting in me having to quit my job 6.I started having mental health issues due to the stress and many of my classmates struggled as well. the staff made a one sided decision to change our class schedules for when we returned and said we would just have to make it work. 7. I finally started to give up on the program and stopped trying ti meet every expectation. As a result I was suspended and told I could try again the next go around. 8. not wanting to wait to continue my education I just decided to transfer to Trident tech. Well turns out the school isn’t recognized by any other college regionally so nothing I did while in the program mattered for my gpa or my degree.Damon Crowe

I really enjoyed the staff and the faculty at the campus. The night classes came in handy if you work full time during the day or if you have small kids to take care of. Also, with so many online classes it is much easier to handle the work/life balance and responsibilities. I like how clear everything is to understand, how the faculty are subject matter experts and work with people who need extra attention and extra patience as life can be challenging when juggling so much. The people in financial aid and the Dean are really good about answering questions and providing guidance and support. The class structures being one at a time in the semester and the small amount of people in the class help make it easier to have a relationship with the faculty. Don’t get me wrong, if you don’t study and you don’t focus, you will not succeed. But if what you want to do is get right to the point, work hard and get a job, this is the place to go. I know other people who have studied in different places and I honestly feel like when we talk about what classes I had to take and what material I had to study, I really feel like I got a lot more out of the experience than they did with theirs. My name is Andina Lee and I am a former student of Southeastern Institute. I wanted to give my honest opinion about the program and my experience working as a therapist after my program ended. From the beginning I was taught a very extensive and in-depth curriculum that will prepare a person getting out of school with the knowledge and responsibilities it takes to be a success clinical massage therapist. Compared to other schools in the area, in my opinion, Southeastern students have a more advanced understanding of anatomy and physiology and multiple modalities which adds more value to the field of massage therapy and more demand for our students. I have never had an issue finding a job when I went out to search for one and the 900 hour curriculum is a good stepping stone for any therapist that wants to take a continuing Ed class for more advanced modalities or bodywork techniques. All and I all I am happy with the experience and would recommend this school to anyone wanting to get into the field. Southeastern Institute/College is the best thing that happened to me. The class that I’m taking is Medical Assistant with the best teacher Ms. Campbell hands down. She’s an absolutely beautiful person inside and out and if they had an RN program and she was the teacher I’ll definitely be enrolling back at Southeastern, moreover the staff is awesome and I just love Cora and my advisor Ms. Sherry and I can’t name them all but I love my school family and sometimes people just don’t put enough effort into school but it’s a five for me because I love it.!!!Nisha Glover

Southeastern has been excellent to me. I'm a student of the massage therapy program. As a combat veteran I was initially nervous about attending an in class program, but from admissions to financial aid to my in class instructors Mrs. Michelin, Ms. Shelton and Miss Demas everyone has been super helpful and enrollment was fast and impressively efficient. I called and two weeks later i was enrolled. I would highly recommend Southeastern to anyone interested in a career in massage therapy.Richard Dyson

I have seen Dr. Martin and staff for the past 7 years since we moved to Summerville. We are half way through our second pregnancy and it has been a wonderful experience both times. They really care for you and your family. I have always seen a woman for my check ups (absolutely love Martha!) and I was terrified when we got pregnant the first time since now I’d have to see a male doctor. I can say I am no longer afraid, Dr. Martin is excellent and will put your fears at rest. He has the most exceptional staff, from when you are first greeted by either Tracie or Megan up front to the ladies in the back ( I’ve mostly seen Michelle, Sarah or Rebecca). Most recently, I’ve met Laurie (there midwife) and am enjoying getting to know her as well. Thank you all for the service you provide. THE BEST EXPERIENCE DOCTOR IVE BEEN TOO! I am not from the Charleston areas and move here about 2 years ago. I found out I was pregnant back in October and been to 3 different doctors which I didn’t feel welcomed. So when I went to Dr.Martin the staff was so friendly and caring❤️ I know this was the place for me. He was so informative and patient and answered all my questions. No enough is enough with musc my sister was there EMS took her there round 4-5 am Today for lower right abdomen pain extreme pain the ER dr and nurse were both sweet and amazing however it seems as though the gi doctors don't care about her at all they either blame ob or obgyn is blaming gi it stops here!!!my sister sat in the er bed up until 12pm today medication didn't help nothing helped her no imaging was done ct ultrasound nothing!!!my sister is still in sooo much pain and it breaks my heart we have her at trident right now to see if they can help I'm disgusted they let my baby walk out of that ER without even knowing if she was really okay she could be internally bleeding they wouldn't even know they stated that thier bosses didn't want them doing ct scans on patients because of a contrast dye shortage they don't even really want us scanning traumas stated a dr. What??? They better hope for thier sake that nothing more than a stomach ache is wrong with my sister because musc will be short more than ct dye more like a hgospital mark my words watching my baby sit here shaking in pain breaks my heart say my sisters name Shacoya Alston!!!! and to the nurse david who called her a Monkey!!!after previously slamming gauze pads on her legs!!!!NEWS STATION !!!LAWYER!!! Short on contrast dye ???she's allergic to iv contrast dye she never gets it anyways so again why wasn't she scanned right away????????Danny White

My daughter has a chronic illness, and has to go to the hospital often unfortunately. The visit to this facility started out with them not putting up the side rails and she fell out of the bed. She has had headaches since that incident. But to them her falling out of bed seems to be no big deal. Waiting 4 hours for a response from staff, no big deal; headache since also no big deal. I know that all hospitals are short staffed, patient count is high, but how long does it take to hand someone a pill and a glass of water. Or even if you can’t do that respond to the call and say we have an emergency, you have to wait. Just knowing you aren’t being totally ignored is helpful. Instead of the constant, “I’ll let your nurse know.” What a B.S. answer that is, and it only creates frustration especially after over an hour or two of that, it’s too much! I guess you can’t teach some things in nursing school. The longer my daughter deals with this illness, the more concerned I am with the nonchalant manner of the doctors and nurses, in this facility and others. We have a lot of choices around here but this seems to be the norm not the exception. Very disturbing. My suggestion do all you can to protect your health and stay out of the local hospitals all of them!Sherry Roberts

I was admitted for gastric surgery 5:30am on the 4/25/2022. The pre-op nurses were amazing & made me feel very comfortable, but after surgery was horrible! When I got to my room and was more awake, I noticed I had solid myself (during surgery or being moved) and I was left to lay in it until I was awake enough to notice the burning. Then I went to turn my pillow and noticed a lot of blood on the back of it & had no idea where it can from … but it was never changed. To be honest, it was the worst treatment I've had at a hospital. They would leave the alarms (IV's & leg compressers) going off in the room for hours, (even though I would call to report it 3 to4 times), so I go very little sleep. I would have to call repeatedly for help or meds, I was in severe pain and had no help at all. I knew I had to get out of there if I had any hopes of getting better, so I beg the doctor to let me go home early. It took hours for them to complete my discharge. They had my son go get his car to meet me around front … but after waiting 45 mins for someone to get me from my room after being released, I walked out! I'm home now & still in severe pain, but God I pray I recover well and not have to go back to this horrible place.Theresa English
