During a high school graduation, I was requesting help from the ORU security and Mabee Center hired help. I was verbally and physically assaulted and verbally assaulted, disrespected, humiliated, district, confused, appalled and taken back at how everything unfolded so fast. I was just trying to get help, I in no action of a crime, assault or anything illegal, simply in the lo by requesting help.. I do not recommend anyone to have there family here for any reason.. wish I could have posted a much better review. 😕 never again will my family be tarnished by the "spiritual" aspect of a college or business again.BP Family

All the people are so friendly! Most of t He students a d staff come from the south, so they all have that warm, southern love for everyone. The professors are outstanding; they genuinuely care about the students and their success-not just academiclly, but developmentally and spiritually. The campus is lovely! There's so many garden areas, benches, and trees! There are even little bunnies hopping around everywhere! The gardeners are on the clock every day, making this camus truly exceptional. I have been going to oral roberts university for almost two years. It has truly changed my life. It is a place if fully embraced can lead you closer to the lord and to the career of one’s dreams. The professors are world class. The workload can be challenging at times but is to help in preparation for the work force. Now that my program as officially been cut I can give my opinion of this university. So firstly my program was the only thing that kept me from dropping my first semester. I am from Michigan and went to osuit specifically for my program. I’ve had many good experiences with my program, the cafe, post office, clubs, etc. But unfortunately, my negative experiences with housing outweighs it all. Since I am out of state I HAD to live in the dorms to receive my tuition waiver. Firstly the RA’s are a joke and during my time were very cult-like. Once you get on the bad side of one they all start creating drama with you (Yes drama like children. Numerous RA’s would talk about myself and my friends behind our backs and we didn’t find out until a mutual friend of ours became a RA) For an event I had my clubs cotton candy machine in my dorm overnight because the event ended at 8 pm. Two days after the event when the machine was already turned back into my professor I received a yellow slip on my dorm with a warning to remove items not allowed by housing. Secondly, there is a curfew. You can not have anyone in your room past midnight and 2 am on weekends. Even if they are the same gender and live across the hall you can not have them in your dorm. I was 19-21 when I attended this school. I’m sorry but the fact that I am being policed every day to not be able to do what I want with my friends at whatever time is completely ridiculous. Just enforce stringer quiet hours if you’re so afraid of people being loud past midnight because why else would adults have a curfew? During my first semester, I thought it was just a southern thing since a curfew would be completely laughed at and thrown away if any college in Michigan had that but then my friends said all the other universities in Oklahoma have no such rule. So there is no excuse as to why this is a thing at osuit. Secondly, if you get caught drinking even you have to go to Okmulgee county court and pay almost $700 in court fees because you will receive a MIP. I do understand that there are laws in the place where you can’t drink if you are under 21 but I was in a room with people who were drinking. I don’t drink beer yet I still had to go to Okmulgee county court and pay a ridiculous fee because I was associated with drinking. The person who caught us is Dave. Not only is Dave prejudice but in all honesty is a perv. This man is the desk attendant to the common area and works nights. To catch people having someone in their dorm past curfew he will PUT HIS EAR TO THE DOOR. This man has also stalked us into our dorms asking if we all live within this building and told us past curfew we CAN NOT TOUCH THE DOOR HANDLE TO THE OTHER DORM. While at osuit I was the Vice President of student government and had direct communication with the deans. I had asked a dean if this was true and when he got back to me he said it is not because there are common areas within the dorms someone from another building can go into another dorm building if they are not going into a specific dorm room. Dave has also pulled people over from his car using the flashlight on his phone and has used his flashlight to look in people's cars. This is way out of the scope of his job and is completely inappropriate just like the many other things he has done. He also did nothing about two tweakers trying to break into the dorm. Didn’t call the cops nothing. This is just the beginning of the issues I have experienced and they all happen to revolve around outside of classes. This pathetic excuse of a university needs a reality check. It is 2020, you are a public university, & your students are adults. You need to change this because If these ridiculous rules keep happening your university will close despite all of these programs getting shut down to save you money. Yet you will continue to lose money because outside of the classroom is 70% of a student's life at this school. Even if they love their programs, like me, that 30% of positivity will never outweigh the 70% of bad. Treat your students like the adults they are.Alana Dackiw

My husband attended college here for 2 years. The HVAC program is really good. But I would not recommend student housing. In fact almost everyone I knew that lived there had issues with mold. They even did mold testing on one of my friends apartments and then refused to give her the results when they came back. The apartment I stayed in was extremely dirty. I shampooed the carpets with a rug doctor I borrowed from my MIL and the water was black even after the 5th time of going over it. I showed maintenance the photos of the dirty water and they did nothing. Here’s a list of all the complaints i had that were never resolved: Mold in bathroom Dirty Carpets Dirty windows that leak when it rains leaving the apartment humid and growing mold Mold behind baseboards that were not properly glued to the wall. Blood on the box spring Cigarette butts everywhere outside Also Cockroach infested and my friend had Mice in her apartment and all they did was lay sticky traps out and then left them….. If you complain the service is horrible! Took them 2 weeks to fix the mold in my bathroom where it was coming through the walls. They’d rather fix up the rest of the campus and make it look nice. They even show you a really nice apartment that’s clean on the 3rd floor. But expect way less because that’s not what you are getting.Ashley Evans

I cant say to what extent the other reviews truths are, however I have the up most amazing encounters with the staff, teachers, and office workers. They have been more then helpful through my entire process. The dorms are clean as well as the public bathrooms in the halls and commons areas. Everyone including students have been very delightful and helpful to show me and tell me how to achieve and get the things I needed to get done for college. I am not paid for a thing this is just my personal experience with osu-it. I'm a single mother of two children that depend on me for everything in their life, so honesty and cleanliness and integrity are absolute in my life. I haven't had one displeasing moment. I graduated from the Adult and Graduate Studies Program in 2010. This program is a joke. I took better classes at TCC! I feel like I paid for my straight A's. The classes were not challenging, most of the teachers I had did not take the class serious. Plus, since the University does not promote their program with an local businesses, good luck getting that higher paying job after college. I have kept in touch with my cohort, everyone else is in the same boat. To the point where most of them have gone on to OSU graduate program so maybe that will make a difference. This is my sister's first semester here, and will be the last. These people make you jump through hoops with all the different paperwork and verifications they need. I've attended 3 different universities and 1 is in a whole nother state and I haven't had so many issues. Not only does there financial aid page not make sense. You can't even see what aid is going where because of the ridiculous amount of fees and clutter on the page. Worst experience at a school yet, and I don't even go here. My siblings all go to different universities in Oklahoma both pwi, and hbcu and this is by far the least organized. I regret picking this university for her. Only good thing is the dorms. This school is hardly what it pretends to be in its recruiting campaigns. The professors are usually great, and the student culture is very welcoming, but the administration of the school is far over reaching, and their public image is decietful at best. Nothing really sets this school apart from any other secular liberal arts college except their over-bearing restrictions and expectations. They claim to be affordable and award academic scholarships generously but don't factor that into your budget for the long haul: tuition rises, awards don't. Apart from those scholarships, the school is especially expensive and needlessly so. They require an expensive meal plan for their unbelievably wasteful cafeteria and they charge high price for minimal housing accommodation. You will find that once you enroll here you drop to the bottom priority of the administration. Everything here is about impressing visitors (well except for the attrocious landscaping across campus). On football game days, you will likely have difficulty finding parking spaces, despite the fact that you live here and ought to be able to park here. If on gameday you decide to park elsewhere on campus (if you manage to find a space) you will almost certainly receive a citation. Citations are enforced on the students who live here and pay to attend, but visitors are given a pass for just about every infraction they could dream of committing. For their most recent new residence center they have added only a gravel parking lot (behind the building so visitors hopefully won't see it) and I assume they don't intend to pave it considering it's been 3 years now. Who knows if this trend will continue. Internet has never been great here but it gets worse as the years go on. They have installed more restrictions over their network as the years go on. YouTube is hit or miss since half the intersting things you'll find might be blocked. (I'm not talking about just innapropriate content, but almost anything from an unverified channel that might be censored). Like most Christian colleges they have a chapel requirement, and they are very strict about it. You won't graduate unless you watch all 96 of the half-baked evangelistic sermons they force feed you and don't you dare try to be distracted by your phone or with homework. I don't want you to get the wrong idea here. You probably will struggle to find another university that's much better about most these issues. My point is, though, that OBU really is nothing exceptional as a school and especially not as a Christian school. It's very clear that they are far more concerned about the prevalence of Christian appearance than ministering to their students or their community. Just go to a state school and join a campus ministry if you really want a Christian experience in college. This place isn't worth it.Tony Carter

You won't find a university with a more caring staff, faculty, or student body. Within a week of being on campus, I found my place. OBU offers plenty of student organizations and sports and encourages campus involvement (Biggie, Spring Affair, basketball, football, TWIRP, and more). Yes, classes are rigorous, but I felt more prepared for a career than friends who attended state schools. After attending a state school myself, I can say I felt more like a person than an ID number at OBU. Your professors will know who are and even invite you for afternoon tea. The theatre professors are great and a lot of the students are nice but other than that this school sucks. You are forced to take classes that have nothing to do with your major, forced to do chapel and worst of all the food is disgusting except on days they have students that are wanting to go there to school. Its a waste of money and time and too expensive. You are better off going to OU or another college. And you will not get your tuition money or work study jobs. And if you are a theatre student you are forced to build sets even if you want to act. And if you are a minority your chances of getting a part in a play is slim pickings. Love love love Redlands works with ya helps you when you need it and the teachers and staff members are amazing, I went to the school store and got me a t shirt today, Redlands staff are always so helpful and will help guide you along your college journey, the teachers are very helpful and caring and very very understanding and are their to help You be very successful, they do online classes and have different degree offers their is always give always and fun activities that they set up at the college that is kid friendly as well for students who are parents you can either stay at home or the college dorms, but other than that Redlands so far has been a very amazing college experience for me and I'm so glad I chose Redlands for me to go to get my degree.Angelica Clark

They make there programs sound great. The training seems ok. Not sure how relevant it is since I can't find a job in that field. They say how great there job placement services are. That's a joke, they are non-existent. You call and a lady named Deb. Is all you get to speak with. She always says call back, then no answer. She acts like it's a huge bother. I have been trying to get a job for 2 years and they haven't helped at all. You call to complain and hopefully get some help from someone else, they reroute you back to her. I wish they would treat the night classes the same as morning classes I've had horrible experience they never give our instructor the materials we need they don't let us use any of the big labs and we can only use very little stuff. I think it's really unfair since we're paying for the education we should all be treated the same. Went to their Truck Driver Training School in '16. George McMillan was my instructor and he was very helpful in helping me learn to drive a truck. He and the other instructors were very helpful and patient with the students and made sure we were able to do our skills to the best of our abilities. Awesome experience overall. I just completed the EMT course here at Tulsa Tech. The instructors are awesome to say the least. All of the instructors have at least 10-15 years in the field for EMT/ Paramedic .They are very helpful and want people to succeed. It is a great environment and the staff are great. All the way from the top, to the ladies at the front desk as soon as you walk in the doors. I would highly recommend this school if they have a trade that you are wanting to learn and especially for the emt/paramedic courses. You will love it!! This was by far the worst experence of trying to get a cleet license ive ever had. The fire arms course by tim wilkins was great. Then when it came time to go to the peoria canpus for testing, not only was i told you have 10 minutes to drive 20 miles home and back but when i got there was declined to test. They told me to re schedule so notonly did i loose 1 days pay because of this. Now i lost 2 days pay. My mother in law is approaching the point where she's having difficulty being at home alone. Even though she may not be able to use the services of Visiting Angels, Page Cole took the time to answer my many questions about what her options may be. To me, that shows me that he genuinely cares about people in general and especially elderly folks. I have known Page for many years and he's always shown that he's a great person. Because my Mother passed away before we utilized their companion care services, I can only speak to my experience with the office staff and evaluating nurse. The ladies in the office were each courteous, patient, compassionate, knowledgeable and happy to offer advice and help us determine the best option for continued care. When Jane, the nurse, visited our home she totally put my mom and us at ease and instilled confidence. They have/had a contract with a company to train CNAs during covid, they failed to train the class that started on February 14, part was due to weather and part was due to the teacher not really caring if the students learned. Fast forward to test day, that was a joke the hands on equipment was gross and broken. The instructions where being read by someone who spoke broken English. The bladder to the blood pressure cuff was outside the wrap. Of course test taker failed first try. Finally got a retest date, test is on the 19th is all we were told until 4:45pm today the 16th and they scheduled the written test for 6:30am and skills at 9am. We tried to see if it could be started at 7am just so the baby could be taken to daycare they said no and aren't even willing to try to work out a better time. This is by far the WORST school ever. They didn't provide textbook nor work books just gave you tube links for information to be looked up. If you are someone who asks questions or needs help DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!carol wagle

I just completed my CNA training. My instructor Jennifer was fantastic! She was upbeat, positive and very knowledgeable. She made the class feel comfortable and confident. I learned so much great information in class. The website was easy to navigate and contained all the information I needed to pass the exam. We love going to TU games. My older brother graduated from TU. He also played football there, so it's very nostalgic for me to attend their events. Beautiful campus and amazing faculty. I received a GA position this semester, myself along several others GAs have been given the runaround regarding our payments over the semester. Kathy, whom I spoke with yesterday, told me I would have to wait until the next pay period for payment. GAs are paid once at the end of each month. When I explained to Kathy that expecting me to wait an entire month for payment was unrealistic, she explained to me how much of a pain it would be for her to file the proper paperwork to issue my paycheck. She then offered a loan on my paycheck until the university could afford to pay me. Its clear Kathy thinks her department is a loanshark operation of sorts. The issues and problems I received with payroll is not an isolated incident. Other GAs are having to bend over backwards in order to receive payment. Faculty has expressed to me that this behavior from payroll is nothing new and I should continue to expect issues and problems with payroll moving forward. The university has no interest in paying its students workers so long as the positions they are offering get filled and they can financially abuse and excuse any concerns brought up by student workers. If one of your hopes at this institution as a student is to receive fair pay as scheduled for work that has been performed, I suggest you look elsewhere. Payroll will do everything in it's power to delay payment and attempt to discourage you from seeking further payment because it's so much work for them. I request and hope that the university exhibits and displays it's core values, integrity, collaboration, creativity, leadership, excellence, communication and diversity, to remedy this situation and show what it means to be a riverhawk.Joe Moberly

Really terrible experience with the staff. An hour late to their own meetings. Scrolling on the phone while I talk (about how my father died when I was 19). I took my time and money elsewhere, and I suggest you do as well. These guys have their noses in the sky and big heads. I promise, you can do better. NSU is nice, small school. I'm currently taking a gap year, but I'm a student at Northeastern State. I started in Spring 2020 and started my gap year (which is now looking to be a gap two years) after the Spring 2021 school year. I'm not sure if I'll return or not if or when I decide to go back to school. Regardless, I love the campus and I love Tahlequah (even if there's not that much to do there). Quite the racket they got going on here. Charging an online class fee on top of, and comparable to, the initial tuition fee for the online class. Other "course fees" that just serve as duplicate fees in addition to base tuition. Student shield fee, safety and wellness fees. ID fee for an ID machine that seems to always be broken. Books made specifically for the college so you can't rent from a third party, etc. Then they charge out of state tuition for my daughter but not my son despite identical living arrangements. Also ask my son to buy $2k computer on the first day of school and of course they can put their orders through the bookstore. Basically all the predatory things you'd expect from a for-profit college only it's some podunk hole-in-the-wall instead. Seriously, never encountered a community college where financial aid wasn't able to cover tuition… until NOC. Might as well go to OSU.Zupertramp

The main singer Raybon has passed his singing prime and struggles to sing the "oldies" that made them so popular. The other musicians did a great job of playing and backing up Raybon on his "cruise" down memory lane. And, the voice mixing made it very difficult if, at times, impossible to understand the lyrics/comments until the lowered the bass and put in more treble in the mix. We still enjoyed the evening, but it could have been more enjoyable an event.Steve Green

My kid now has a casino problem, smoking(vaping as they call it) and drinking problem, and dropped out of college after attending NOC. It's in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do but go to the casino. Coaches party with the students and promote bad habits. It is heart breaking that a kid with a future gets turned upside down simply by attending a school like this. I will never recommend this school to anyone and will always tell people do not send your kid to it.OK Hotrodder
