Solid school. Easy(ish) to navigate. Some of the buildings are far apart and depending on your classes you might have only 10 minutes to go all the way across campus. The staff is friendly and try to help anyone navigate the school, so don't worry! Each building is clearly labeled and maps are everywhere so it's hard to get lost. There's tons of socializing areas and seating for different gatherings. Some of the popular places would be the courtyard with the fountains or the large hill in the center of campus. The campus also has a variety of food options, so whether you want smoothies, coffee, pizza, pastries or a salad there are options all around!Zena Krimzon

They have no idea how to teach what you will need in the state of Kansas. They will use other professors lectures and do not want to answer questions or teach you. So yeah if you want to teach yourself from a book and have a bunch of assignments due constantly this is the place for you. You will find yourself googling topics and watching YouTube videos to learn it. Multiple (at least 3 that I know of) people in my class complained to the chair.C

I am taking a welding certificate so I can work in the welding workforce. I want to work for the olathe railroad welding force after college. Then maybe do some underwater welding I have not quite decided. If I do I have to take a scubadiving class to get certified in that. SWOSU is full of intelligent staff! Dr. Moseley is amazing! This man has seen every advancement in computers since he was working at Texas Instruments and received one of the first PCs to be used at their facility! He has forgotten more than most will ever know! Star was docked due to removal of one of my favorite teachers. Anil Periera was an awesome professor who mixed and matched classes and technology to get the best experience from both worlds in a single class. He was truly amazing.Jerrod Frost

Lovely campus! This is a great mid-sized college. My classes usually have around 15-20 students which is perfect for me. Everybody is really friendly. Professors know all their students, they even know their strength and weakness. My 1st year of college was tough since I was a pretty shy international students from vietnam, but my professors helped me a lot. I really enjoyed my time here. Honestly, I love Dr. Johnson and how we just kind of mentally clicked. I don't go to this school, but the man is an excellent individual to have a conversation with for you to just walk in and have questions. If you're that intense about chemistry and physics and how the world around works, the chemistry department is awesome. It's hit or miss with the staff. I'm transferring about 60 credits in from elsewhere and just needed residential credits to graduate. I've been trying to get a degree audit since I started in March. I took 6 credits in the spring, am taking 3 now and 6 more in the fall. I can't get an answer as to whether I'm in need of any credits in any areas to graduate. I never had this problem at any school. When I asked for an audit, they told me, "You just completed your first semester with us. Transfer credits are posted after the students complete a semester with us. Look for those to show this Summer or next Fall." I already completed a semester. I'm on my last 2 classes. This should've been done by now. This is how people waste thousands of dollars on classes they don't need while still coming up short for their program. It's a bad policy, and they shouldn't do that. Update: I'm about 3 weeks from graduating. Taking classes on campus rather than online makes a huge difference in satisfaction levels. I'm changing my star rating because the teachers are pretty good. I'm still a little annoyed with how unresponsive the staff was while trying to get info together for my last semester of college, but it worked out. Three more weeks of class, and I'm blowing this popsicle stand. The school is what you pay for. Some things could definitely use some improvement. I had to pull out of my fifth class, which I didn't sign up for, 2 days too late to get a refund. I wasn't even aware that I was in it till I saw an email about late assignments. I paid the amount they requested after they said it was my fault, at which point they sent me a check for that same amount and then told me that I owed it to them again. It just seems to me as if the entire process is just overcomplicated. I was furious when they signed me up for a class without informing me. I got over it, but when your going to school with a GI bill you don't have the luxury to go back and forth with classes like that. I had explicitly told them that with work, school, and family I couldn't manage more than 4. My experience with the school other than that instance has been well. The instructors have been great and the classes have been educational. The buildings themselves are "rustic" but the staff works within those confines to create the best experience possible.Timothy Taylor

I went to this school after leaving from my four year college just to save my income and somehow, this school did helped me succeed easier after getting my Associate's Degree in Computer Engineering! Both main campus and the technical education center campus are welcoming regardless of what field you're studying for. Whether you prefer day courses, online courses, or night courses, the time and budget will be worth your time as long as you maintain things properly. I think it is pretty crabby that the college requires you to be 60 years old to get a GOLDEN TIGERS CARD when you are a graduate of the college but apparently that is how the board of trustees operate depends on if you donate lots of money or land then you get whatever you wantnatasha bryant

I had the best college experience at this school. The classes were small, the teachers were phenomenal and the learning center provided help with any subject I needed assistance with. I was also given an art scholarship which required me to join the art club where I had many invaluable experiences. I can not recommend this school enough!Meredith W

It's cheap, which is great, but the material is way behind in IT which was my department. Still won't forget the time ECC illegaly withdrew $1,800 from my bank account in 2018, which I got back in a legal way. I love this campus so much. The Instructors are fabulous. Dr. Sexton is legitimately my favorite and most influential professor. Since I've been out of college I've come back to sing and I regret nothing and I cannot wait to be more active in this program again. Since they have instituted 6 sessions Columbia College has proven they are not about the students. By making this move they force students to take student loans or lose part of their Pell grant due to not being enrolled full time. They try telling their students that 6 sessions per year will benefit them. Being a student that is currently enrolled and have been for a few years now I can tell you it is of no good to the student. Not only does it cost us more but instead of having any type of break between already accelerated courses we only have two days off. This is ultimately going to lead to more stressed out students and lower GPA's. There was a time I recommended this College to everyone I came across. Now sadly I make it very clear Columbia College is the worst college you could attend. It is a joke. Rolla's new policy if we don't offer something you need in seat take it online. Not mentioning that not only are online courses significantly more expensive but the work that is required for these is beyond reason. I am talking at minimum double the workload of an in seat class. The teachers are great, administration from the main campus down is terrible. This is no longer a student centered college no matter what their website portrays.Sean Dahlman

I'm currently enrolled at CC. This is the best college I've ever been to. The faculty is understanding and very helpful. They actually care about your education. My advisor was by far the best. She helped me through some very tough decisions and helped me to make the best financial decisions. I visited the enrollment center 3 times to change classes due to my own reasons and all three times they were understanding, helpful, and encouraging. I also went to the enrollment services about my financial status multiple times throughout the year and they were always there to help. They showed me my financial plan exactly including scholarships, loans, and grants. They explained everything to where I could understand and even printed me copies of my plan. BEST COLLEGE containing the VERY BEST PEOPLE! The other reviews that had one star and rude comments, it's because of their stupidity and closed mindedness. I had a terrible experience at this school. I would highly recommend not going to this college. They do not care about how you as the student does. All they care a bout is your money. You will NEVER hear back from any of your online teachers. I tried emailing a teaching with a question 3 times and not once did I hear back from the teacher. If for any reason you need to withdrawal they will not except it. Even if you withdraw a day or 2 after the deadline, they will make you pay every cent, even if you had good reason for the withdrawal. If you want to attend a college that cares about your needs and your success I would highly recommend choosing a different college because the only thing they care about at this college is getting your money. It was one of my best schools I have ever attended. My respects to Mr. Shadfar the teacher of ESL grammar classes god bless him. He invited me to work there cleaning the school and I accepted. I worked there from 6pm to 11pm to close the school. Something strange happened to me. My classmates from ESL were wonder why I accepted that job. They said that it was an old building and it was a hospital, many people died there and not body wanted that job because there was a ghost in the 8th floor a woman in white dress appears there. To hear that I started to be worried about, but I needed the job. During the nights I was really scared to be alone cleaning all hallways and all floors and especially in the basemant. I had to work there on Halloween Oct 31st and it was the scariest night. My boss was a person from Irak. One day I asked him have you ever seen something strange because people say many things about the school that it was a hospital. He told me that only one thing happened to him when we were walking on the 8th floor to the elevator. He said that one day when he was going to check from the highest floor to the first one to be sure there are no students at 11pm he was in the last floor and not body was in the building. He said the elevator went down by itself to the first floor. And the elevator to move down it should be someone in the first floor to push the button. He went downstairs runing and he didnt find anyone there. He was really scare. Other day in the basemant my boss from Irak the responsible from all my commitments showed me in the cafeteria that was the basemant one door that not body opens there. Always is closed. He opened that door and that door takes you to another bigger basemant. We went there and I could see many old machines It was very scary because I could see all the old things of the hospital including the incinerator machine where the people who died in the hospital were burned it was like a horror movie. We went out and I were so thinking about what I lived there. Nice experience something that I never imagine that could happened. I studied the ESL program and got 500 points in the tofl I took all levels from there and higher and advance level in English. Now I am an English teacher in Mexico I have taught for 15 years and I would like to work as a teacher some day for the ESL program in Donnelly if they give me the opportunity. I absolutely loved the staff of Donnelly. Pretty much everyone there is out to help you succeed in all that you do. However, if you are going for a nursing degree, I would recommend going somewhere else. I lived in the dorms above the nursing department in Marion Hall and didn't have any problems except when I went down to the only floor with a water fountain to get fresh, cold water. Patty, the head of the nursing department, repeatedly berated me for coming on "her floor" and told me I wasn't allowed there. After I brought my complaints to the dean of students, all the residents received an email saying that we were "washing dishes in the fountains", and that we weren't allowed to go down there anymore. I would go down to get cold water since we were forced to either drink from warm faucets from either our room or the bathroom, and was filling my cup and just rinsed out what was in it beforehand. I understood that my presence could be distracting, so I took to taking the back route of the dorms so I wouldn't walk past any class. It was only after the new nursing department teacher said I was washing dishes that anything was said to the dorm residents. I understand it's a silly thing to discuss, but it was a major factor in my leaving the school. I would like to see the staff drink warm water that they got from essentially a bathroom sink instead of a water fountain, since the only one that was available was on the first floor.Daniel Meier

Graduated here in 2015. Small classes, teachers realIy care for their students, and I love how students can work here too! I absolutely love this place-its like a small family, I was sad to go. I spent four years here doing my pre-reqs for nursing. Only thing is there isn't a lot of classes offered here so I had to go to other colleges while still going here. Another thing is I had to do everything on my own. When I first started thinking about nursing I didn't know where to start and what I had to do. All I knew was that I wanted to go straight for my bachelor's. One of the advisors sent me to go talk to the nursing dept. All the nursing advisor (she no longer works there) was trying to do is convince me to do the LPN program. Once I told her that I wasn't interested in that, that I needed help with what pre-reqs to take, what schools had BSN programs, etc she told me she couldn't help me at all! From that moment on, I had to do my own research -look for schools, what classes to take, how to apply, which required teas test. I even had students interested in nursing come up to me to help them with the process. Overall, it's a great college in the middle of the city..only thing, give some direction to students. There are other transfer universities besides UMKC.Liz

terrible people place full of liars and conmen! i had gone a few years back got student aid and had a bunch of things come up and had to drop out so i dropped out within the time frame so i wouldnt have to worry about paying anything back. cool few years go by and out of no where they are claiming i owe them money now and i argued this no one cared to look into this at all and now they take my state taxes every year to pay it back and they refuse to give me my transcripts to attend another college.. absolutely do not waste your time with them its a money sink they dont care about the students they dont care about education they have zero professional pride. honestly goto a proper college get a proper degree because these people dont care about anything but a paycheck. they do absolutely no investigating at all with anything ive got lists of things that happened where a proper investigation should have been done and they didnt. Having attended a number of 4 year universities, I am rather impressed with the quality of the instruction here … and at a fraction of the cost. As traditional private four year universities hunker down and concentrate on obtaining federal grants, and begging for scraps from alumni while generally ignoring the students, this school's mission is primarily educational. Sure the food isn't gourmet, and all the students aren't hand picked from private schools via house recruiters … but, in honesty, this school is more academically rigorous than many private universities, and without all the fluff that costs a pretty penny in tuition. In addition, unlike private universities, one can take classes here just for fun without breaking the bank; many such classes and certifications are offered for those wishing self-improvement and to learn without academics raining on their parade. I particularly recommend the Horticulture Program, it is both top notch and unique.Andrew Covey

I'm wrapping up my associates soon. Meramec is a pretty good college. Advisors are ok, very hit and miss but my advisor was great. Admissions people were not as great. Financial aid is good. Professors are 80% good and 20% bad. The bad ones are REALLY bad and drag down your experience here. Use "rate my professor" or talk to other students to find the good professors. I had a class with a professor that told us he hated his job and we could tell because that class was hell. I doubt many universities are any better because every place has at least a few bad professors. Do your research, advocate for yourself, sign up for good courses, and you will do great and save a ton of money.Katya R

Absolutely AWFUL!! The curriculum is very poorly thought out, the assignments for some of the classes have nothing at all to do with the career you are seeking; a complete waste of time. The instructors (most of them) are terrible about communication. You will not receive a response to 7 out of 10 emails that you send with questions or comments. I am truly stunned by just how disorganized their online programs are. A full semester of time and money have been completely wasted at this institution. I will now have to start all over again somewhere else, but that is better than attempting to continue on with this place for another year or two. Just terrible! If you are considering Barton….DON'T! Absolutely worst school ever! They DO NOT take care of veterans as they claim. It was a complete set-up from the beginning. I enrolled for a class and was told from the school that everything with my Post 9-11 GI bill was fine. AFTER the last day for no-payment withdrawal I was then contacted to be told it wasn’t okay and that I had to pay them 450.00. I was going along with the class like everything was okay only to find out “after the fact” that it wasn’t and since I had already “started” the class there was nothing they can do. Now I’m stuck with a 450.00 debt to them and everyone is saying there is absolutely nothing they can do.Cynetta Moore

My wife and I had planned on taking advantage of the free tuition for our daughter, a military dépendant. The website claims that dépendants of active duty, guard, and reserve are eligible for free tuition. After choosing Barton and planning on taking advantage of the benefit, we found that it doesn’t exist. I’ve been deployed 3 times but we don’t qualify. Barton, do the right thing, have some integrity, support the guard and reserve or take it off of your website. This should never be allowed to happen. Not to service members and their dépendants. I recently graduated from the Transport Training located on the Neosho campus and loved the whole experience. When I first learned that I was going there I was a natural sceptic, but only because I never knew that a "Community College" would actually have so much to offer. While I was there training for my Missouri CDL exam I lived on campus at RoughRider Village. Everyone I ever came into contact with on campus was always friendly and helpful. Crowder allowed me the opportunity to never again judge a school by its name. I had full access of course to all of the many resources that Crowder offers and I used them on a daily basis. The Library was the perfect place to round out my day of training. And by the end of my course, I was wanting it to last another 3 or 4 weeks. The staff for the transport training program were absolutely Great! They were able to make it a very fun and exciting learning experience. And no, it's not all driving. There are many things to learn in order to become a professional driver, not much different that many other fields of study. I was so impressed with the school, that I am currently in the process of trying to get a new set of classes started later this year, by utilizing the Online Programs and partnerships that are currently being offered at Crowder. I would recommend this school to anyone who is considering any of the programs they offer. They also have a top notch athletic program. I encourage you to give them a fair chance when deciding on your school. And for the record I traveled many states to attend Crowder, and will be recommending it for years to come. Lastly I want to say thank you again to all the staff at Crowder, you folks should be used as the standard. And just so everyone knows Ms. Peggy in the cafeteria cooks everything with lots of love. I absolutely loved the cafeteria and all of the many choices they provide daily. So check them out if you really want a great school. I believe you too will be surprised. My experience at Crowder College was great until recently. I have been a student for awhile. I attended on campus at Mac County, and then transferred to online when I moved to Oklahoma because I enjoyed the college that much. The reason I'm posting only two stars is because of how I was treated by a woman named Robin in Financial Aide. As a student in general, I would hope to never be talked down to by any advisor at Crowder College. I have a few mental health issues including anxiety. I'm also on the spectrum for ASD. This woman belittled me, and made me feel completely incompetent because I clicked a wrong button on my FASFA, and instead of explaining this to me politely or helping me fix it, I was forced to write out a letter explaining that I had made a mistake and had issues and had to sign it to return to the Financial Aide office before she would simply fix the small mistake I made. When I brought this to the attention of my college advisor he informed the appropriate people and told me it would be taken care of. This whole experience has made me never want to use Crowder again. I felt embarrassed, belittled, and stupid by this woman. I will not be returning to Crowder ever again unfortunately.Zoie Vickery

Okay, my initial review was based upon the ease of transition from high school to college my child was given. And, for the next couple of months it went well. Without going into specific detail, I watched our confident, adventurous child become a withdrawn, sullen depressed person. When I approached her about that she said she tried to get help from the college, but they told her she was pretty much on her own. They told me the same thing. The only reason she is there now is because the vocational school attached to the college is in her field. We moved her off the campus and into an apartment and she is doing much better. Sadly, like many formerly church-related colleges, Jewell has abandoned historic Christianity and its identity as a Christian and Baptist college. When I attended there, many years ago now, it was a wonderful, solid, mostly faithful school. I got a great education from caring professors and even was able to attend Oxford for a year. All this at a cost the same or lower than KU or MU at that time. Now it has become much more expensive, and much smaller, with the enrollment having declined by over one third as it has abandoned its Christian identity. I never considered it for my own children for those reasons. It certainly has much nicer facilities and lawns now. But I much prefer the old, humbler, Christian Jewell, which was affordable for ordinary middle-class kids. I would choose a mind and heart for God over fancy buildings and lush landscaping every time. Ironically, Jewell and its neighbor across the river in Kansas, Benedictine College of Atchison, have switched places. BC has re-emphasized its Christian identity and become more faithful to its church and heritage (Catholic), and has seen great growth and renewal. (And it also has a beautiful campus.) Jewell has done the opposite, abandoning its churches, heritage, and faith (Baptist), and enrollment has plunged. Jewell has about 800 students now and Benedictine 1400. In my time it was the opposite. I hope Jewell would do what Benedictine has done, and see the same revival and renewal. But I am doubtful that will happen.lancelotlamar1

I Would never recommend this college to anyone. They are not the college they use to be years ago. Reasons I give such a low rating. 1. Dorms are very expensive and required the 1st year. Heaters and airconditioner broke down numerous times. Water heater not working and only cold showers available. Brown water coming from faucets. 2. Advisors do not do their jobs. Will not return calls or emails for days, weeks if ever. Will not help you with selections to best map out your course to your major. Recommend changing your major even though it is the only thing you want to do. Will even recommend going to a different school if you dont. 3. Make you take classes that are not transferable. 4. The teachers do not care about the students. Just there to collect a paycheck not actually teach. If this does not make you look into other colleges and you choose to go here. I first visited William Jewell twenty five years ago and was positively impressed with its reputation and grounds. Last year I toured William Jewell with my daughter as we were college shopping for her. We were impressed with the quality of the place and the friendly, helpful and open people that we met. We were surprised at how small the student body is. We were scared by the cost of tuition. Fortunately they worked with us with academic scholarship and athletic scholarship, making it still costly, but tolerable. My daughter has now been a Cardinal for five months and is very happy. Her largest class has 25 students. Her classes, dorm friends, classmates, professors, teammates and coaches all have been great. Because of it's petite size, William Jewell isn't for everyone, but we highly recommend it. Quality over quantity.Jeffrey Parrish

During COVID, I returned to Hinds to simply increase my knowledge. It has not been to the standard that I knew when I attended Hinds 2014-2016. It has plummeted! I was given the wrong books by the bookstore for my Summer 2021 classes and was CHARGED for them although every student was told that classes AND books were FREE (took 2 weeks to then get reimbursed). This 2021-2022 school year has been even worse to where I am actively looking to finished my classes elsewhere. I was charged for books that I am not using yet Hinds will not give me back my money…. YET AGAIN. Even the classes that I am taking this semester, the professor (because it’s one teacher for all 3 classes) isn’t much help in it. The students are basically teaching themselves to zero help from the paid professional in the class. It’s not to the standard that I knew Hinds at. Also, Angela Easterwood (GM of the bookstore) talked to me as if I was some child and not a grown man. Attitude and scornful behavior should NEVER be tolerated, especially from a person that is employed by a committee college at any level.Kenechukwu Okoye

Called the Raymond campus first and then called the Jackson campus because it is closer to where I live to get information on enrollment and the staff had this i don't want to be bothered attitude. A lot of over-talking and not letting you finish your statements were going on in the conversation. If you are interested in the school, then I advise going to a school with better assistance. Just think of what would happen if you had a major issue being enrolled there and this was to happen. Some people should hand their jobs over to people who really deserve it and wish to have their position because the people there now are obviously tired. After reading some of the reviews on here about Hinds Community College I still gave them a chance. I simply thought that perhaps these were young students who did not have an interest in learning, but I was wrong. This coming from an adult female, who is currently enrolled at this college, I am having a very difficult time with the teachers. These teachers, some but not all, does not put time into their job. Taking the career path of education one must care for the well being of students and that IS NOT found at this school. So here's my Wake Tech story. I secured financial aid and then enrolled into Wake Tech as a full-time student. And then the financial aide office attempted to cut my much-needed aid twice, the first time on the Friday before my classes were to begin and then the second time was the following Monday via email when I was literally 4/5 the way through the commute from Fayetteville to Raleigh to attend my first day of classes, causing me to turn around and head back home. And another thing: maybe it's just me — perhaps I missed something?–however it seems that Wake Tech expects new students to simply show up and know what to do? Nothing's explained, nearly none of the stuff that I needed to know to get started was covered during the online orientation that new students are required to complete nor were we given any booklet or the like to explain how stuff works . But let's rewind a bit. After securing financial aid, enrolling and completing online orientation….I remained clueless. So thereafter I spent about a week commuting back and forth between Fayetteville and South campus in an effort to complete registration and get everything else taken care of. I did so under the assumption that I'd get stuff figured out if only I'd drive up there and speak to Wake Tech face to face–but not so . During this process I asked advisors and other staff a variety of questions only to be told conflicting info and advice thereby increasing my confusion. And then I went to the bookstore where I learned that some of the books that I needed were out of stock and that notebooks cost $8. So I left without my books. I did however attempt to attend classes first day of semester, as mentioned above, but then received that email from the financial aid office– had that not happened I would have went to school and maybe things would have turned out differently. I did receive another email from someone else at Wake Tech telling me that the email from financial aid threatening to reduce my aid the 2nd time was a mistake and that I'm covered…but unfortunately I've already missed a week of school so I guess I'm out. Very depressing as Wake Tech is the closest college offering a full curriculum on substance abuse/addiction counseling and that's what I want to do. But, it is what it is .Frank A

You remember when the pandemic started, and everyone had to start learning how to use computers? Now imagine, a bunch of teachers, creating online courses from scratch with no help. ITS A DISASTER. Its like NO ONE set a criteria for how the classes should follow a general structure, so that students aren't spending the first 2 weeks of every new class trying to figure out what is what. Its like no one showed them, "this is the gold standard"… this is what a well put together black board class looks like. The online courses are archaic. (Dr. Frear, I complained about some things and I am sorry. After seeing what else is our there( summer 2022), HOLY MOLY. Your blackboard set up is the least confusing and was by far, the best thing I have seen yet) Instructors use blackboard, not as a classroom but as a file folder system. Instead of using the platform, they made it so that every thing is word documents and or files you have to download when they could have just simply used the actual platform. I should only be downloading PowerPoint slides, worksheets, homework, etc. Not opening a document to read something you could have made a video and "instructed" us or copy and pasted to the platform. Does anyone know the definition of a syllabus there? It should be all encompassing. I shouldn't have to read 5 documents to figure out how I will be graded, what I will be graded on, the rules, the expectations, which books I need to buy. If the department has a syllabus, I'm pretty sure you are supposed to take that document and incorporate it into your own, at the very least create an addendum/appendix. My Grades should clearly have due dates, weighted totals, and all of the grade-able items at the start of the class. There should be no, imagining what my grade is at any given moment.Buttercups

I’ve spent 29 years teaching at Wake Tech and have taken a number of classes here too. I know what it’s like at Wake and I am telling the unvarnished truth about it. I’m retiring soon so it’s not about getting a promotion! Generally speaking the facilities, faculty and quality of education are really very good – in addition the price is still reasonable. Don’t be conned by private educational facilities that promise you a “great job” after graduation and then put you in a low end, minimum wage job where you can’t even afford to pay off your pricey school loans (this happened to a friend of mine). Go to WT and get a better education for a fraction of the cost – you will leave with real skills and THAT’S how you get a job – with knowledge. Plus Wake has a solid reputation with employers. Yes, there are aspects of the school that are unfortunate – I hear complaints from my students, and there are a number of policies that drive the faculty crazy too – much of it is due to the typical bureaucracy that seems inevitable with very large institutions. Is it really better elsewhere? Maybe. Maybe not. Nonetheless, if you go with the sincere desire and motivation to learn, and you treat your teachers and fellow students with respect – you will be supported by all and do well. The ILC really is a remarkable facility and is intended to help struggling students succeed. When it comes to the financial aid office I hear the best approach is to fill out ALL the paperwork that is required COMPLETELY and ON TIME. The training I received at the school has served me well for the 40 years I have been in the military and in private practice. My training has been as good or better than docs from schools all over the country. I didn't know how well I was prepared until internship. I put my training up against interns from many MD and DO school and came out fine. I compete against docs from many school in my private practice and I have never been found wanting. My training was 40 years ago and it was great. I don't really know about the current training climate but I assume it is just as good as when I attended. This place had a very nice dorms and a lot of places for people to be able to get plant-based option foods including a whole foods that is right around the corner pretty much on campus. They're swimming pools pretty awesome too when it unfolds in the summer to let the sunlight in. They do have some pretty big lecture classes they told us but other than that the class sizes are supposed to be fairly reasonable. Campus was clean but had a bit of construction going on. I would tell anyone that knows someone looking at going here, to seriously consider going elsewhere. There are so many other colleges or universities that they could attend. There are numerous issues my wife has run into with this place. My wife graduated from this place about twelve years ago and went back to get her nursing degree. It was a great college to attend back then, very accommodating, high standards, and the personnel very helpful. However, it has changed a great deal. The front office personnel are rude and not that helpful. My wife had to go three different occasions to give them her transcripts (high school and college). They kept asking for them even though these should have been on file since she graduated from there. I can't remember the person she talked to but she was very rude and didn't want to be bothered. My wife just talked to her advisor and they changed the standards and prerequisites to enter the nursing program. They changed these just two weeks ago in the middle of a semester. You think that would be changed for the following semester not during one. My wife is supposed to be grandfathered into the program since she did her entent to enroll prior to these changes. Now they are changing rules, standards, and prerequisites on her mid-semester. She has to get a full grade higher than she did prior or risk having to do it again or dropped. Not sure that is even legal. Also, they are trying to make her take courses and the accuplacer test, which she has already taken. This is very costly to do again. Not just the money but with time as well. I have heard them doing this to others, must be a good money maker. There are other issues as well but I don't have time to name them all. If you are considering going here or know someone who is, please be careful and beware is all we can say. They can change what they want whenever they like at your expense.Michael Broton

My mother took me here on May for suicidal ideation on behalf of my school counselor's recommendation. Don't ever bring children here. We had to wait for about 7 hours just to get a room while in the ER. They took my clothes and phone away and made me wear a gown with nothing while being stared to to 'make sure' I wasn't going to harm myself despite my mother being with me. I had an outburst and cursed at one of the 'doctors' for lying. Nurses were rude, I could hear them talking about me through the door. Once we got a room, I had to be watched 24/7 by nurses, those same nurses lying to me and my mother. Being threatened to be given to foster care of I didn't agree to go to a psych ward. It took 3 days to be seen by a psychiatrist, but by then I was fed up so I just lied. I don't understand how this place is still open. Stuff like this never makes me want to get help. Hire people that are actually good at their job.JB

The entire Children's Mercy staff are exceptional. My 6 month old son had to have emergency surgery and it’s such a scary thing to go through. The bedside manner, professionalism, communication and knowledge the staff demonstrated was so reassuring. The hospital itself is super adorable. Very clean, inviting and easy to navigate. The doctors never left me waiting and they took a team approach to communicate and execute the best plan for his surgery, Although the hospital was busy, I we never lacked attention. We've been here for 3 major procedures for my daughter from birth to her preteen years. Our experience here with the staff, doctors and expectations were always exceeded. They truly do care for your child and specialize each patient visit to show that. The doctors and nurses are kind, caring and thorough. They select their staff well as I have not met a staff I felt was rude. They all speak to me and my child respectfully, directly kindly to show they care. I want to thank Troy, Kelsey, and Andrew for an amazing experience! Troy was great and patient with me while I was trying to get my ducks in a row. Kelsey gave the class/refresher for me and did a great job, she made the class super cool and understanding and was able to show proper technique as well as tips and tricks! Andrew supervised Kelsey’s class and also did the refresher for the first aid. It was a fun and funny experience, I was nervous at first but they were all super nice and we’re able to calm my nerves. Katie, OJ, and the team provided a very educational and professional AHA ACLS course. As a retired military leader, I have a great appreciation for "train to standard, not to time". Although this phrase was never mentioned during the course, Katie (who appears to be well-experienced in emergency and pre-hospital care) was able to focus on areas we all needed the attention and less time on areas we were able to show proficiency. I went to this Community College back in the Mid-2000s. When I first started, I scored very low on the English/Math/Comprehension Reading so I had to start with the prerequisite course before I could entered the college level courses. After a year and a half, I struggled with the academic (English/Math/Comprehension Reading) and all the teachers I had at that time would just advise me to go to the computer lab/learning room for help and never did help me improve on a one-on-one basic. I felt like I was never appreciated in those classes. At that current time, D2L was starting in place so portion of the classes' discussion/homework were online. I still remember other students never helping me and always correcting or making fun of my errors in writing. There was a teacher's conference one-on-one meeting with every student and I still remembered it until this day. The last words from that teacher was, " With how you are doing in this class, you will not make it and I would have to fail you." I dropped out of Century College soon after and owed a couple thousand dollars in debt. Long story short: Then I decided to transferred to InverHills Community College (IHCC) and that was where the difference came in. The feeling and care for the students were so different. Teachers' there at InverHills Community College were able to help and assist me to improve my academic issues that I had. I still remember a teacher staying 30 minutes-45 minutes later after class just to help me everytime. I graduated at IHCC with my associate's degree then proceed onwards to finishing my Double Major Bachelor's Degree at MetroState University.John Bradley

Apathetic faculty providing misinformation at an obvious cash grab. The counselors are useless and ended up providing me with false information that delayed my education while also costing me thousands of dollars. They absolutely refused to take any responsibility and side-stepped my inquiries every single time. While I did have some excellent instructors, it was always a toss up what type of instructor I would get. Four times out of five I ended up with an instructor who either didn't care about the class they were teaching or just plain didn't have the aptitude to teach the class. Most times I ended up teaching my courses to myself. There really seems to be no standard of education that the faculty strives for. I would not recommend anyone to attend this college. Before I get a response from anyone at Century I'll make it known that I have no interest in filling out any sort of suggestion card or survey. Enroll here. I'm highly satisfied with my experience at Century College as a student. The post-secondary education community here has gone beyond my expectations to support my continued education as a transfer student. I'm thankful for the experienced instructors, who have given me a wealth of knowledge here. The support staff are excellent, including TLC, Writing Center, Math Center, Advising, Counseling, Information Technologists, and Librarians. They connect students with excellent resources outside of the classroom. The resources available here are comparable to any private institution, and cost per credit is the most affordable on the market.Louise Brask

This is not a day class, or a college course, or a scam. This is a Boot Camp led by a team who will force you to become a good EMT and have fun. Get up at 7 am to be there by 8, grab some coffee and start taking vitals and comparing homework or checking in with your group, attend lectures and complete assignments. Lots of demonstrations, videos, and the instructors tell tons of stories from their fields. I heard the most hilarious stories from Dan and Loren but everyone there has good humor and entertains while lecturing. Caleb was my favorite, the guy is so knowledgeable and concise and has a great voice. Everyone is pretty passionate about the subject matter and knows how to prevent boredom from setting in. We learn whole chapters and at a time during lectures and they give plenty of time to directly and thoroughly answering questions. After lectures, there's a lot of hands-on learning with mannequins\other people. At first it's just taking turns helping people stand up and learning how to take blood pressures or give epi but they get more and more realistic, by the end we'd get dispatched over the radio for a 911 call and have to push through a barricaded door into a dark room with music blasting and someone sobbing with open wounds or help a burn victim after an explosion. Maybe someone calls for a headache and I know that's just Nicole, but she's very good at her job so she's confused and losing consciousness and it 100% feels like a real patient having an emergency and sometimes we succeeded in saving the patient and sometimes we didn't. Every scene was a mystery and wrong decisions had consequences and it was designed to feel serious, everyone's rushing to set up the O2 tank or stop bleeds or figure out why the patient can't breathe. Jessa and Paige and John and the guy who looks kinda like Jack Black all gave us a hard time and really got in character with props and attitudes and as a theater kid myself I was impressed, they went the extra mile with everything. It was good information to have but it was fun, too. Class lasts around 12 hours but after the adrenaline and cramming and socializing, it often feels later. Get back to the hotel(a good discount is offered through Unitek) and study notes to pass your quizzes, do homework, type patient care reports. Or go to the bar with your new friends and talk about needing to study and end up getting a solid 3 hours of sleep. Tea, coffee, and hot cocoa are always available. There's always leftover lunches and dinners in the fridge as well. Lunch and dinner include a main dish, side dish, and sometimes a dessert. It's real food, too, the chicken might be kinda dry but it's no sack lunch. There's also vending machines and a nearby circle k in case you need another energy drink. It's an extremely challenging, stressful class and a lot of people wereconvinced at one point that they were going to fail or have to quit. It feels impossible to achieve everything expected for graduation and everyone has such a different background that it starts to feel hopeless at times, but the staff just push you through to the end and before you know it you're reciting all the acronyms and procedures and walking out with your certificate. The staff there are awesome, supportive, and trustworthy, everyone instructor was someone's favorite. Everyone cares a lot there. I would recommend this for anyone with determination and willingness to trust the process, regardless of skill level or experience, because they've seen it all and they've got your back. I already kinda miss it. 10\10 recommended, I'm lucky I came here.Green

It's very rare that you are thrown into a room between 40 other people who all have the same goal in mind, and who are all phenomenal individuals in their own right. Unitek was an incredible experience. The structure of the lessons and the pace of learning are very well researched and thought out. Each chapter was well involved, and the instructors left plenty of room for questions. This is, by far, the best EMT course in the nation. Everything combined made it the perfect way to learn and to push yourself. One of the other guys in the class had taken another EMT course, and had taken the NREMT, and said that he learned way more at Unitek than his other course. Incredible instructors. Each one has practical experience and shares that knowledge with the students. An intense course that prepares you for the EMS profession. Definitely prefer it over a longer and more drawn out course. They do an excellent job balancing lecture and hands-practice and you will come out of it prepared to work. I passed my NREMT exam on the first try because of the excellent job they do preparing you for the test. They also pay for your first two attempts and for a review service that was extremely helpful. Pope and Crystal at Fort Worth were both awesome. Between the two of them, we got a lot of the “by the books” way of doing things, and the actual way things will play out while on the job. We got plenty of stories and lived scenarios from Pope that covered everything from patient treatment to self care, and Crystal hammered in solid strategies like PENMAN and GLXABCD that really helped with the medical and trauma assessments. Overall, much higher quality instruction and investment from our instructors than I expected for just three days. Would come back to learn from them any time.Alec Rigik
