My Story As a former student of the University of Advancing Technology or UAT I want to reach out to all future students that are considering this school as an option. I spent from 2012 – 2016 completing my undergraduate program with my Bachelors of Arts in Video Game Design. Where I worked 40+ hours a week, maintained my family life, and completed my program online. In my 4 years every professor that I had was extremely supportive an really promoted and communicated the expectations and understanding of the quality of work that needed to be done as well as the opportunities for students to continue being successful with academics while navigating life challenges. From work/life balance to family medical emergencies everyone single professor was able to help me navigate those challenges while not having to exit school for any duration of time. When I finished my undergraduate program, I left UAT with a solid knowledge and understanding of what it took to make games and how to get that career path started. Because of my positive experience at UAT the first time I decided to go back for a graduate program with a Masters of Science in Technology Leadership. During this time, I was not working and had every opportunity to focus 100% on school for the 2 years I was enrolled. Then COVID 19 happened, UAT was able to quickly adapt and conquer the challenges that social distancing and remote working guidelines had put on almost the entire nation. UAT used its knowledge and passion for technology to not only mitigate COVID challenges but also keep every student on track to succeed in their educational journey with little to no delay. I finished my Masters program and during my exit interview found out that I could dual major with just a few more classes, so I decided to extend my stay there for one more term and finish my Masters of Science in Video Game Production and Management as well. Conclusion If your looking for an education in the technology space, heavily consider UAT as your choice to attend. No school guarantees a job afterwards, but this is a great starting point for support and education.Joshua Montero

Let me start off by saying I wish I could give this school a 2.5. I went to this school (2016) with financial problems immediately. I had a financial adviser who told me that I could attend school there and everything had been paid for. Literally after five minutes of being there I was told that she hadn't checked if I could actually attend there, but had only assumed. This was a huge problem seeing as I had flown from Washington to Arizona to attend this school. Upon my nine months there my financial adviser had changed three times. The only thing I really enjoyed was Renee, she has always been kind to me and my situation even to this day. In regards to the academic side of the school, I don't think you get much out of classes for what you're paying. With how much you end up paying a single class would be $180 which is completely insane when a few of the professors don't actually teach you anything. I was a Programming Major and from what I saw and from how I was treated if you already knew how to program or you picked up on it really fast you were automatically favored – this also went for the Game Art degree. During my classes I had been accused of cheating off of a peer when I didn't. Some of the classes are a real challenge though and they were definitely worth the $180. Now onto Founder's Hall. I was an RA there for 6 months. The dorms are messy and there's hardly anyone in the dorms that's social. Due to this their rooms are disgusting and a lot of rooms here do have cockroaches – it really doesn't matter if you're clean or messy, there's cockroaches. I will say that the school seems to be doing a bit better with the dorms and the cafe and what not, but people are still falling out of that school due to the fact that it costs way too much for anyone coming from middle-class or lower. I wouldn't have left if it wasn't for someone who was finishing up his last semester. He was a close friend and had expressed to me how he hoped I wouldn't stay here and have my money sucked out of me and end up with a degree and no job.kkylenkk

My son and I have been so impressed with the staff at UAT that we sent them letters telling them so. We appreciated the warm welcome, well-coordinated incoming events, personable staff and flexibility for students. The communications throughout the year have been great as a parent back here in Minnesota. The logical response to the unprecedented demands for Covid19 included thoughtful adjustments for the residence hall, school operations and courses. My son received support and accommodations for ADHD, anxiety and depression. Ashley in Student Services has been an incredible support and advocate for him. We were able to meet with her together and I was immediately grateful that she was so knowledgeable and warm. I knew he would be lucky to have her as a support. Ashley is enthusiastic and genuinely interested in students. She makes a point to reach out to them and visit the Commons as well. Although my son has been an excellent student in the past, he struggled with the new responsibility of creating his own schedule. Being overwhelmed and anxious led him to fall behind significantly. Ashley supported him, brainstormed options and coordinated schedule adjustments. Teachers provided accommodations on an ongoing basis. I recognize the understanding and time this degree of extra coordination requires. They deserve recognition also. My son and I both felt that what he has learned at UAT, both in and out of classes, was even greater since he developed skills through these struggles. He considers it all a tremendous learning experience. In summary, we've been incredibly pleased with how UAT operates and meets student needs personally and academically.Linda Ell-Egermeier

I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience with Bryan University. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Advanced Professional Fitness Training and Exercise Science. The training was top notch and immediately applicable to real-world situations. All the instructors I encountered have a sincere desire to help students become successful. Since graduating, I have obtained a senior management position in a local high-end fitness club and the ability to start my own successful fitness business. I have also become an Adjunct Strength and Conditioning Instructor at my local Community College and started a fitness video-cast with a fellow Bryan University graduate. I just graduated from Bryan back in October with my BS in Exercise Science. I was a little bit skeptical about taking online courses, but once I got into it I found for me it was the only way to go. It fit well into my schedule, and for most mods you were in an actual online class. So you got to see fellow classmates and your instructors. Courses were challenging but not more than you can handle. I continued to work full time while completing my course work. Also, they have great instructors at Bryan University. They are very knowledgeable and were always willing to lend a helping hand if I had any questions about a class or assignment, or if I needed more help understanding a specific topic. Can't say enough about the instructors I had. I am currently a fitness director and personal trainer at a local athletic club, and also a strength coach at a local Catholic high school. Literally within a week of my graduation I got a job offer at one of the premier fitness clubs in the country. PK operated in the highest character and care in helping us through the difficult process of a divorce. Throughout the process, she was there for wise counsel and direction… and a kick in the butt too if needed. I am sure that if it were not for her ability to discern the issues and communicate clearly that the process would have been much more difficult. I always felt she represented both our sides equally. It is easy for service professionals to just rack up bills and take advantage of people. I am writing to 40-50 plus students. My self & another student in my class the experience with Altrain was very intense & difficult. The studies are very fast & memorazation was the key which was hard for over 50. Hands on was quick & if you were lucky we could do it again during the training. I learned more on "youtube" I felt if I confronted or brought up issues I was told I would hold up the class. Pamphlet mentioned Altrian would treat you like family NOT so. Altrain Dental Assisting Academy was such an amazing school!! 10/10 would recommend to anyone interested in going into the dental field. It costs less than all other dental assisting schools. The teachers at Altrain care for all students and no one gets left behind! 13 weeks all hands on learning, which really prepares you for futures jobs. Some lady named Brianna answered the phone with no intention of helping us. Did not sound interested at all at the severity of my case and made me feel unwelcome even calling this place. "We will take an assessment over the phone and we will see if we want the case." Who even says that in a professional setting? Understandably people often call in with employer cases and I'm sure they don't take everyone, But why would someone answer their workplace phone with a name and not even be willing to help? Maybe I called to close to closing time..who knows. I do know that our case shouldn't be down played by a receptionist. ESPECIALLY with a harassment case. I would be careful with this Law Firm. I had set up for a phone consultation due to living out of the Phoenix area. The case would have been for wrongful termination as I was now unemployed. They had me pay $325 in advance. When it came time I had a family emergency & was unable to have my consultation call & I was unable to reschedule due to my family issue. They kept my $325 even though the call never happened. In a time when money was already tight they didn't seem to care about that. Such a shame they are greedy sharks. A large corporation in Arrrowhead fired me over a contract dispute. They owed me overtime and back pay. Mr. Barrat was very professional and my ex-employer with their group of attorneys fought for as long as they could but eventually they paid. Mr. Barrat got all my back pay and overtime plus damages. He did a great job of not giving up and got me the best settlement. I wish my old employer would have just taken care of me originally but I guess that's how things work.Noah Gittner

I’m a current student in the ADN program. I knew it was fast paced when I signed up, I knew what it would be like to do a program like this. I prepared myself but the school didn’t really care about the fact that COVID affected everyone differently. Especially a few of the instructors. I never missed a day of school after I got COVID the first week of class and was prompt in communication and was sick for weeks but told I had to return or I’d fall too far behind. I definitely struggled during the semester, but I pushed through, one of my instructors who is the Pharm teacher let me know I couldn’t use COVID as an excuse. She was not sympathetic and wouldn’t let me re take anything, while my other teacher encouraged me and pushed me till I passed. The biggest issue is you have one set of people who care and another set who don’t. They need to reevaluate their staff because they are definitely discouraging many of the students. Fast paced schooling which I love. I attended the Glendale campus because it was so much closer to me than the Phoenix campus on Dunlap. I know it’s not for everyone. I liked that they had the option of doing evening classes, it was pretty flexible with the 2 days outta the week. My dental instructor Mr. Hester was knowledgeable and really helped prep me for my radiation health exam, which I was able to pass on the first try. And found a job rather quickly after I finished. Few things I didn’t like was having to attend all those meetings for how to write a resume and how to look professional for an interview, I really hated those lol. But that showed me that they really do help set you up for success if you have no experience in working for a professional field.Yuzelly Ramirez

Worst service ever. First it took me 5 hours on hold(tried multiple times in two days) to get to speak to someone. Just to find out that ASU doesn’t notify you when you have a bill coming up or amount due, till the last date and due date. Obviously they like to collect the late fees. “It’s students responsibility to keep an eye on it”, yea sure, then don’t pretend like you care about your students. Won’t be enrolling in any classes no more with this school. The whole experience with this school was mediocre, from financial aid support, to coaching and Academic advisers. People who were in these roles were constantly changing. I would constantly get phone calls from academic advisor, before ever notifying me via e mail or message. They can’t help you with simple things like editing your resume or finding and internship. They absolutely did nothing, and the classes are waste of time and money, most of the classes I took could’ve been a 10 min YouTube video. Don’t waste your time or resources on ASU. This university consistently shows they only care about money and not the students. I have two full-time kids attending. The financial aid department lacks professionalism, follow-up, and follow-through. We have experienced this two years in a row. We did financial aid months in advance and my kids are trying to start and are still not financially cleared. We spend hours on hold day after day and get hung up on, live chats disconnected, and when you get a hold of someone they are rude and do not take action. They make millions in profits and are understaffed and hire people that don’t care about students. It is funny how private colleges are held accountable for job placement and graduation rates. They also provide quality customer service. State funded schools don’t have to report on job placement and their retention rates are horrific and they priced zero customer service…going to drop this joke of a place and find a good private school.Rodney Fitzsimmons

Really nice campus, a lot of expansion and improvement construction has happened over the past 10 years. It is a little hard to access certain areas without at least a little walk. Having a bike to get around campus is really helpful. if you’re visiting town I’d recommend visiting campus while you’re here, plenty to see and a lot to experience in the area.Cameron Baker

I called to ask about the pricing on a course that I was going to take with this college!! A woman by the name of TRISH , was very rude she did not have good customer service skills , she over talked me FROM WORD GO , she assumed that I WAS GETTING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE ! which I’m not IM PAYING OUT OF POCKET , once I made her aware of this she seem to have gotten more edgy, I asked to speak with someone that could explain better !! I got my undergraduate and now working on my Masters at U of P. Nothing was ever hidden. You have to do your homework and know what the heck you are doing and keep yourself informed and ask the right questions. You cannot expect people to do your work for you. The tuition and costs are laid out on their website plain as day. I did a ton of research on the degree I am working towards, the costs and responsible borrowing. I made sure I knew what the accreditation's were and that I can be licensed in my state. Its work but my responsibility to know what I am signing up for. I loved the enrollment counselors, and can ACTUALLY get through to them and get personal responses same day most of the time unlike the bigger schools where you are lost in the crowd. the courses are great but beware if financing, when inquiring about enrolling you will be told you will NOT have to pay anything until 6 months after graduation. That is a lie! Also the student advisors are horrible. I receive mixed messages, some advisors told me about options at the end of my degree that " was now too late", had I been told by an advisor earlier it wills have been an option. I was encouraged to take courses through outside programs Sophia and Study.com but was NEVER told that would cause problems with my financial aid. So when I am 2 classes away from graduating now I cannot because I do not have $3,000+ to pay out of pocket. I would never recommend UOP to anyone. Go someplace else for your degree!Michelle Garcia

It's about what you'd expect from a community college. Not terrible but not great. It beats Rio Salado every day of the week, that much I can say for certain. I didn't feel like I really learned anything that can't be found browsing Wikipedia or YouTube, but that also means most of the courses (at least most of the ones I took) are pretty easy to pass. The math instructors Dr. Slaughter and Ms. Haynie were actually really helpful so I highly recommend them. No real complaints about any instructors. In my opinion, BIO108 felt as if the curriculum and lessons were very poorly designed and was the only class I had any significant difficulty with to the point I ended up withdrawing. It might have just been me, but I'd suggest considering Geology or Physical Geography for your science classes. I received my AGEC-A and Associate in Arts with a 3.88 GPA and transferred to NAU for one of their 90/30 programs. If you plan on transferring there as well, talk to Glenny Carter in the NAU building as soon as possible because she'll be your best resource to ensure you'll be able to transfer without issue. I could have avoided a massive headache trying to figure out what I still needed to take if I met with Ms. Carter sooner.Andrew Willars

I just wanna share my experience with y’all as International student’s point of view: Jen and Barb we’re very helpful, patience and great during my process which it was in the middle of pandemic! So it was hard and stressful times for everyone. All my paperwork went great thanks to Jen’s kindness, she took her time to explaining and solving my questions. And why Am I realized after a year at SCC? Well… (I’m trying to reach another community colleges because long short story: as a nurse applicant there is a waiting list at SCC which is not according to my plan) and other colleges in the country not really care about your struggles with the process/paperwork even when you as international ARE PAYING 3 TIMES THE REGULAR AMOUNT IN TUITION FEES! 4 out of 5 stars deserve mostly for welcoming center and international students advising department. 1 star is out because of the quality in the education system, is mostly okay; I enjoyed my biology classes but no much my English class… some Professor’s were struggling a lot with online learning method (because of covid). Students new to the college are not able to apply for classes that are in need of an advisor are (again) are NOT getting calls back in time to apply for the semester – cannot attend the semester. We would’ve liked two classes over the summer. Now we cannot add classes for the fall. It shouldn’t be this hard! The setup for appointments are booked up. It wasn’t that way when we could simply visit the school. If we are all unable to attend yet another semester – you just held back three students! Terrible.Home Associates

Phoenix College graduate writing!! I have had a wonderful experience at Phoenix College. It was affordable and I'm starting my new job 100% debt free due to the affordable college tuition. I am a medical assistant graduate and I'm so glad I did my studies at Phoenix College. The medical assistant program director Monica N. is superb and one of the hardest working ladies I know. Despite how busy she is being both a program director and a teacher, she always made time for me whether it was in class or if I had a question about issues or concerns within the program. To prospective medical assistant or healthcare students I have to say this: choose a community college instead of a private college. First of and VERY CRUCIAL – Phoenix College is an accredited school with accredited programs. But the best thing is that you will graduate without being seriously in debt. Other programs will try to lure you in and say you can graduate in as little as 9 months. But at what cost? If you can wait a little longer to finish your program I definitely think it's worth it. Also, this school has a great reputation amongst healthcare companies. I was able to acquire a job at a great company that is very well known despite being a new grad. When it comes to the staff all over campus, EVERYONE is helpful and knowledgeable. They really care about students. Also, the testing center staff are awesome as well! Susan at the testing center helped me in the process of taking the HESI A2. I was very nervous, but she was so funny and encouraging and it really helped my nerves. I LOVE this school, I will likely take another program at this school in the future. So proud to be an alumni!!A A

I love this little place, it is my haven especially after the neverending unraveling events in the world. Moved to Phoenix randomly 3 years ago after my undergrad and was so lost, but finally found this place. Doing some prerequisites for something in healthcare. It is very affordable, I work full-time and do my classes part-time and so thankful that you can do payment plans. Love going to the library. Conveniently located close to where I live. I have met some very interesting people from all backgrounds and professors here are great, hats off to the flagship college cultivating such a nice environment.Domino

Try to do as much as you can online. Visiting the campus this summer is pointless. They're running on a skeleton crew. One person named Susan was trying to work three stations at the same time and seemed to be running the whole show. Apparently office people won't be returning to the office until July or August. Berkeley might have them beat in public interest law bonafides, but SDO can generally hold their own when comparing excellence and overall cost. Furthermore, the new law school is a dramatic improvement and a welcome addition to the burgeoning downtown. I completely agree with the other review. This school is horrible and their customer service skills could use some extreme work. In my personal case I wasn't able to access the websites because of "construction". My class started on a Monday and i finally got in on a Wednesday. According to what I signed up for was it was a 14 week class. When i got on it was changed to an 8 week class. I already had a quiz due Saturday. Because of the obvious unrealistic expectation that i could learn 2 chapters of math in 2 and half days and that i obviously didn't succeed on the quiz, I opted for a drop. Apparently my last day to drop was Friday. With no understanding that some people have to pay out of pocket for college and will need the money to take that class at a different college or any type of "we can do this instead" scenario I came to the realization they are in it for the money and not the students. Uncalled for. Please reconsider and do not waste your time or money.Kayla Johnson

I can’t comment on their education, but here is what I would like to share: 1) My kids go to school near there, and when I was in the area, I realized I had forgotten to charge my electric car. 2) I found Rio Salado on a charger map and pulled in. It’s a Blink charger and I couldn’t get it to work. 3) A professor/employee was walking out and asked if I was OK. I told him what I was trying to do and he was SO helpful. We got it working. 4) While it was charging, since it’s over 100° out, I went inside. It was immaculately clean with a security guard right there. I was able to sit and get a drink from the vending machine. The restrooms were also sparkling clean. 5) I really want to thank them for offering an electric charger and being so helpful and friendly. I can only imagine they are the same way toward their students.LEH

In not giving this a 1 star because the school did something wrong or anything I just clicked it to give a review. I'm nervous and have not signed up for a GED with them yet but intend on doing so. After reading so many negative reviews I am hoping that my experience will be different and a positive one. I truly hope I will not be disrespected by those who are suppose to teach me and help me successfully get my GED. I expect nothing but positivity and effort on their end. Really hope that my experience is different while I'm there. So until then I'm going to leave this at 2 stars until I actually experience Rio salado. Until then my review is solely based on what I've read so far. REAL EYES. REALIZE. REAL LIES. Don’t waste your time I spoke with someone yesterday about my eviction case and desperately needed assistance on getting it appealed and the Lady I spoke with yesterday literally laughed in my face. I hung up the phone. I don’t know exactly what they’re doing up there with with their so-called legal aid but it sure as hell isn’t helping people that need it because I’ve contacted both services in Arizona with no success! seems like you guys are just falsely advertising your goodwill but not exercising it. I’m not the brightest crayon in the box but from my end it looks like this. You guys get the gold star from the state because of your good deed in lending a hand to those in need. The state will then fund your fake organization, in turn , your pockets get fatter. And it just gets swept under the rug because no broke homeless person will stand a chance against the legal team of artificial lawyers. If you guys really did help people, your generic reviews wouldn’t be bought and paid for, your reviews would be overflowing with deep, heart felt, touching reviews. why is there none? Corruption has reached your core employees and when that happens, its already to late to correct. I have had great experiences with this place and often recommend there services to friends who also are able to attack there legal issue quickly and efficiently.. Anytime I need info on how to proceed legally with something I call.. They never fail to tell me exactly the right steps to proceed effectively.. They don't actually handle it for you its only mostly consultations and direct you step by step so you can do it without having to hire an attorney.. So for any legal situation your just not sure how to pursue give them a call and the intake process is quick sometimes the phone wait is long but once they answer take down your legal issue concerns.. Soon after a lawyer experienced in your legal issue will contact you and give you exactly what you need to know.. so if you are not sure on how to proceed or just what to do or just need info just try it outGinger Robinson (snnaps)

What a joke. For two months ive been trying to get help and now someone notes that I have already been helped. BS. I still don't know what court, what papers or how to fill them out. I have wasted hours of my time for what? I have no clue where to turn. Thanks for nothing. I guess I'm just out 3k. Another landlord screws another low income senior. You guy are dishonest.
