I called WCC and attended for 3 semesters. Failed my first class because I didn’t know the difference between on- line and virtual classes. Financial aid denied me and reconnect was going to force me to take 2 classes or four total in a year. I have ADHD and bipolar two disorder. It was either the welcome center or the student advisor office that told me that ADHD was just a medical diagnosis and not a disability. I am a mom of three and a grandmother of a toddler.I have been out of school for over 15 years. I am by no means stupid or unteachable. I am great at what I do and am raising well adjusted tiny humans with an awareness of mental health treatment and general accountability. The schools online program send a message that it is doable for everybody and tailored to fit one’s schedule. I have done drop in tutoring I have called the helpdesk I’ve called every number possible for help. I have spoken to financial aid, I have spoken to success coaches, as well as a counselor affiliated with the schoolMy GPA drop below 2.0 and now I can’t afford to go to school. I was in the paralegal program and I can by no means, not understand the material but I struggle so much with the homework and the amount of things you’re expected to know upon entry into this community college. This school has destroyed hope for my future and nobody seems to know what anyone else is doing. The only reason I passed one class is because Professor Lindsey took the time to show me the things I needed to know. Two other instructors, Refused to even go over the homework in virtual classes. They think because it’s in the schedule they shouldn’t have to talk about it in class. Instructors should talk about anything that makes work unclear to students!! Refusal to go over homework by instructors is the biggest thing that caused my struggle in this institution. If you are a mom or a person with day-to-day responsibilities… think twice and get as much info as you can before entering the school. WCC is not tailored for the working person or the single mother. Apologies for any triteness. Democracy runs well w an educated populace. A few hallmarks of a Democracy are; Quality of Life, Education, Freedoms and the Civil Rights of All. Universal Healthcare, Access, Education and Trades training, why not? If we are able to pay one man millions of dollars, then why not provide for millions of people? How often does corporate welfare, “trickle down” and subsidies to huge corporations translate into savings? Educated, critically thinking humans are one goal and Community Colleges are gateways and answers to improving and increasing Democratic values. How naive, ignorant and misinformed I was as a young adult, to snub and look down on Community Colleges. As the decades passed and the Grace of wisdom was given to me, I began to realize the value of CC. Mistakes made can be the process in which we grow and improve, if those mistakes don’t kill you. Thus, Washtenaw Community College is packed full of the possibilities of enhancing the potentialities, aptitudes and visions, just as any institution of higher learning should be. The key: Higher Learning. Do not disparage the “in-district” resident’s ability to pay $95 a credit hour. Of course, the Big 10, Ivy League and others are prestigious and wonders to behold. Yet talent is talent and at times it all comes out in the wash. We are all in the mosaic of life. An accommodating student center, the Legendary Morris Lawrence w the Auditorium’s name in his honor and the music program still going strong. WCC offers countless resources, references and an ability to improve your life plan. Took Motorcycle Safety: Basic Rider Course Weeknight. The course was very well done with professional instructors and decent equipment. Both classroom (parking garage) and range were excellent venues for the subject matter. The class had full enrollment (12 riders) and instructors provided significant "hands on" individualized training. Some participants (students) were familiar with motorcycles others were First Time riders. Appropriate attention and training was received by all. Great job WCC!Michael Bell

From moving out of state and trying another community college it is clear that none if not very few colleges care about their students the way Bay does. One of the best nursing schools in the state of Michigan. They require nursing clinical experience which is worth its weight in gold with your training. Tuition is reasonable. Free Parking available. It's easy to find your way around on this campus. Instructors are great. A great asset to the community and surrounding areas.Ethel Mae

The gym manager is horrendously rude. The rest of the staff is very nice, respectful, and understanding. He doesn’t allow women to wear tank tops but men can work out shirtless. Limited mask usage upon staff, but dare breath for a second and you will get your membership revoked (this happened to me). There is very limited machines and as a senior citizen I felt like I didn’t have any machines I could use. My granddaughters hated this experience when I brought them along. If I could I would give this a negative star rating. I am very disappointed and I would not recommend this facility to anyone who is interested. I took the CNA ‘Plus’ programme there back in October 2021. For $2395 we never got a clinical! And the facilities and equipment provided were unbelievable! One mannequin with its leg falling out and not even a proper night gown to keep it from being exposed! Sheets were dirty! Equipment faulty, and now we are STILL waiting to take our state licensure exams! If you’re taking the CNA programme, do not take the “plus part” it is a waste of money and time. State Street U is amazing. I attended 22 years ago and stopped by for the first time since then and I was amazed to find, updated buildings, a beautiful store, and a whole new feel. The professors and professionals were mostly great when I was there and though I don't attend, I had a chance to talk to administrators and they are still amazing. It is a fantastic education at a great price. If you are looking for a great community college, look no further than STCC. I'm a recent graduate of the LPN program and currently an RN student. The nursing program for me has not been an easy one, I have run into a lot of personal challenges inside of my own life with family and other issues. One thing I know for sure, is that the staff at lake area want you to succeed and are always there to help when you need it. I don't always agree with their methods however they are always willing to listen and try to make their program better through any suggestions. The instructors of the nursing programs have a lot to deal with, students including myself are very emotional and the instructors do their best to help us power through. Lake Area technical college also has counseling available for free to any student and it is exceptional. The college wants you to succeed, they are always there to help ,you just have to ask for help. I am forever changed for the better because of the kindness generosity and patience of the instructors as well as other staff at lake area. I can't compare it to any other college, because I have not had an experience anywhere else but if you are looking for a place that you can have a good support system with people who love their job, strive to always do better, and sincerely care about you then this is the place for you.Desirae Snyder

Incompetent….called to verify my daughter's tuition amount the gal told me two different amounts. Then when I went in to pay I asked them to verify all classes and credits were accounted for and she confirmed they were. I was then given a different amount then what I was given on the phone.A month later I am told I owe them more money , when I asked why they told me credits were added after my payment was made that day. The staff obviously can't read a computer screen when asked. When I confronted them on it, I got a run around , they wouldn't take responsibility for the error. They were told that they would not get a dime if my child attends next fall until a print out of everything is given to me and all classes and credits are accounted for so prevent this from happening again. I have other children who have attended college as well as myself and I have never had a issue like this.Amanda Anderson

I've been attending FCC since summer of 2016 and will graduate, god willing, this spring 2019. Full time, year round, no breaks. Although parking requires at least an hour grace period, I believe the over all experience is what you make it. I've come across rude people maybe having a bad day and I've had instructors I could not relate to. Its all very frustrating. Its sad to say the success rate at this college is 17%. But, then again this is an adult school. Nobodies going to call your house when your absent or hold a parent-teacher conference when your not doing your work. I am working on a Human Service degree and have enjoyed the ups and downs of my classes. The load was a little heavier in a few and I had to buckle down and utilize the tutorial, ETC, PASS, Computer lab and all other resources available. In all the those places I found the staff and student help extremely eager to be of service. The assistance was much appreciated. I am not speaking for this business itself, merely the college district's education quality. I have taken classes at Fresno, Clovis, and Reedley Community College, and I have had an absolutely deplorable time. I don't feel like I'm getting anything from the classes; I don't feel the staff is prepared to teach online, if at all. If you are going to teach college-level English, you should not make punctuation and grammatical errors consistently. If you are teaching a law class, you should not do it from inherent bias and perspective. If you are conducting an online course, you should not have to hold up a piece of paper because you don't know how to make a slide. Good college for students to get their AA degrees and this college has cheap tuition. Professors and management are also good and you can also transfer to a university after 2 years. It is said that Fresno City College is the first Community College in California. Registration to classes is simple and online, and they offer all kind of classes. Attended in 2013 and now again from 2018-2020. Lived in the North Hall dorms so far (the new ones with suites that are a bit expensive) and they're about as pristine of living as you're gonna get in a community college, walking distance to everything. Since limited parking space is arguably NMC's biggest problem in the late 2010's, being able to walk to classes is a huge advantage since parking there is a joke. I told them to build a parking garage. They seriously need one. That said for a community college this is a 5-star place to be, but the dorms people are talking about in negative reviews, The East Hall dorms, really do seem pretty awful judging from the 2 times I've been in there to visit friends. There's also on-campus apartments, for 21+ students. So basically here's how to do housing here: East Hall: if you're 18-20, have no regard for quality living and just want a place to goof around, study a bit, sleep, and munch on snacks between cafeteria meals (cheapest) North Hall: You're 20-29, have a bedroom's worth of stuff, and need a full kitchen w/ a refrigerator to share with 3 others, and would share a nice cleanly bathroom with 1-2 others and would like a nice shared living room area with couches. (usually most expensive option they have) Apartments: If you won't settle for less than regular apartment standards of living, have kids, spouse, etc., or have enough furnishings to fill out multiple rooms (middle cost option, I think) Between having a marine technology school, a stargazing observatory, an audio recording studio, an aviation school, an automotive garage, a music & art building, nursing programs galore, and a brand new "innovation center" going up in the year 2020, this is one of the best community colleges you'll find. If they'd switch to renewable energy like Ohlone College in Fremont, CA (another hidden gem of a community college), I'd rate NMC a *solid* 5 stars, instead of a 4.7 stars that I rounded up to match what's coming in the near future.Connor Louiselle

I have completed four semesters at NMC living off-campus. I knew people who lived in the dorms but I wouldn't recommend them to my friends or family. The dorms closely resemble a prison with white brick walls, shared bathrooms (between 4 students, 2 rooms connected by the bathroom). The prices for these dorms are quite expensive in fall and spring semesters. The teachers for the most part are amazing. They are all (that i learned from) highly intelligent and friendly. Most often they are flexible and considerate. My only problem with some teachers is that in the beginning of the semester at the first class they would often claim "We are trying a new system out, this is the first time and i think it'll work better this way." Now… I don't know what that's supposed to mean but in almost all of these cases it leaves you attending a very unstable class with new and unused materials/processes. These were always extremely weird and complicated situations that made me view the teacher as less professional by the end of the term. They had the knowledge, they just delivered it very clumsily. I maintained above a 3.5 GPA which wasn't too difficult at all. You just had to study and be able to comprehend the class by yourself. You can't really rely on the teacher's new methods or materials because they are pretty much half-baked. My final and most weighted complaint is their prices for tuition/bookstore/cafeteria/dorms. They are literally raping your pockets. As you struggle to even attend school, do NOT plan to buy anything from the cafeteria. Extremely overpriced. The tuition costs are absurd for anyone outside of grand traverse county. I just feel like this school has great teachers whose bosses are after the student loan surge. I love learning but if it comes at these prices, i'ma go at it alone. With free online courses. Who cares that i didn't pay 40k+ for my nice degree. I have certificates that say the exact same thing–for free.Anthony Potrafke

WARNING–DO NOT LIVE ON CAMPUS. No A/C, No refrigerators and if your room is missing something good luck getting a replacement.. You're basically living in a sweat box for months on end. The staff is extremely up tight and obviously have never been anywhere but Traverse City and who hate their lives and have nothing else better to do than to kick people who aren't from the area out. A student was just kicked out of the dorms for a leaky Capri Sun juice pouch that was left unattended in the dorm hallway. Apparently this student will be facing carpet damage repair fees along with not receiving a reimbursement of nights that weren't spent there. Everything you do is on camera, this place is like big brother. You can only enter and exit one way in the dorms so they can watch you every time. Don't plan on driving around the campus at night unless you want to get pulled over by a rent-a-cop and get the 3rd degree on whether or not you live in the facilities no matter how many times you show a room key and ID. After all the harassment from the staff/ security and sleepless sweaty nights spent here I honestly cannot recommend these facilities to anyone looking to get a nice nights sleep, even if you are only staying for a weekend summer course, it's not worth it. Not to mention its $750 per month– this again is no A/C, no fridge, no kitchen, its just your desk, bed and your sweat. For around $600 a month you can live in an apartment, get much better accommodations and have the comforts of sleeping at night with A/C.Daniel Setser

I recently finished my second Technical degree for Metal Fabrication as a returning student. I delayed going back to school for years for lots of reasons, but mostly because I thought it would be as awful of an experience as High School was. Instead the teachers in my program were excellent. I was always challenged by the projects and supported in my learning in equal measure. If you're looking to get into welding or Metal Fabrication, these programs are career fields that need people, pay well, and you can learn them here! Don't sleep on the trade skills that can be taught here. Go to the open houses, see if these are things you're interested in doing. A 4 year degree isn't The guarantee of employment it used to be, but these one year Technical degrees, leading to in demand fields are.Travis H

Very nice tech college. Almost everyone you come across on campus can point you in the right direction. I just started school today online. But tomorrow I get to go to campus. It's a clean sanitary environment. There is currently some remodeling going on, so part of the building you cannot access… yet! AC was on, felt awesome. temperature didn't change much room to room either. All the employees seem to know their job very well and are willing to help. I chose Madison Area Technical College because I know many people that have graduated and successfully got into a job they wanted. This school is also smaller than UW Madison so I feel like the learning experience is better, more hands on, more participation versus a large school such as UW Madison.Shane Toycen

The good profs here are all just professors moonlighting from UW Madison, I'd honestly say you should apply to and go to literally any other UW system school before here. The quality of education isn't bad- but they somehow managed to misplace finances and put 650 bucks into collections randomly – without mailing me any notifications, and without a notifications on the online portal. You won't get competency from any of the administrative staff, expect 5 week long waits to see a counselor for any sort of urgent need. If you are a student with a disability – make sure you have additional copies of any medical documentation, they will claim to lose it. Most of the education staff despises the administrative staff and yeah, I can see why.Bee

The administration does not care about you. They do not care if you are a student or an employee, they do not care about you. They do not care about your kids, they do not care about the job you have to work on the weekend to make ends meet. The top administration will continue to rake in money for themselves and make sure they’re providing both employees and students with as little as they possibly can. All you are is either potential money or potential labor. You are a commodity to be used to the benefit of people you don’t even know. The entire art department is a joke. Calhoun has crippled its own photography program by getting rid of the best studio photography teacher it has probably ever had just because he didn't have a degree yet he's been a professional working photographer for about 30 years. Calhoun has a bad history of hiring people to teach that don't do their job. The dean and the underlings don't care if you have a problem if it affects their staff. Calhoun is famous for minimizing the parking spaces despite the rising number of students attending each year. The financial aid department is worthless too. I'm transferring to Wallace State instead of going back to Calhoun to earn my degree.BringPopcorn

What I love about Calhoun is that they want to make sure you know how to do. Hands down Calhoun is one of the be places to study IT in the state. The classes are small enough that you are able to get hands on training and your taught by instructors who work in the field. Not someone who is good at taking test and decided to teach. The only complaint I have is that Calhoun should try to improve the student experience more. It's hard to accomplish considering most students are only there 1-2 years but there should be more university sponsored events live movie nights, dances, etc.Christoper J

Most professors are very kind. The school as reopened for in-person learning. The food and library are open. Staff, students, and visitors will need to fill out a health screen to be on campus. (I'd say take a screenshot to easily show the green check) The construction in the middle of campus is done and the beautiful campus is opened up. I like the school, and the professors are great. All of the professors I have taken have been kind. However, the staff- Araceli the manager from the mission college bookstore is extremely rude. She lacks customer service skills. She will yell at you in front of the entire store to the point where everyone is staring. Mission College has one of the most supportive and enthusiastic professors. I enjoy coming in to all of my classes because they engage me into their lesson plans. Not only that but they make sure that all of their students are understanding the assignments and offer alternative support systems for them to succeed in the classroom. Putting a review in on behalf of my experience in the auto tech side of CWI. Absolute nightmare and a waste of about $10000. The instructors are unbelievably rude, lazy, and unorganized I guess you would say. I went there for about 2 1/2 total years. One instructor that I’m not gonna name because he was the only good instructor dropped down from a higher position in the school because all the staff was complaining and not actually getting stuff done. Apparently that reflected on him but nobody listened so he just stepped away from the position and let Alex take it. 2 other instructors quit during my time there. Drug testing there seemed to be a trend for testing all other ethnicities except Caucasians, 2 per class. All I’m gonna say about that sense it’s a sensitive subject. John D, needs to be fired. Called me “boy” after I nicely asked him to call me by my name “Alex” and proceeded to scream at me making a scene for the whole class over me missing the last 15 minutes of class for a once in a life time opportunity for most people. He also tried to fail me by doing everything he could to not help me catch up in class after I got extremely sick for about a week and a half and had to go to the hospital. Scott the electrical instructor. He just lectures you for literally 4 1/2 hours and makes pointless jokes that aren’t funny at all and wastes more time. CWI did acknowledge that problem and talked to the students about it but ended up doing nothing. Your last half an hour to an hour of class with Scott is hands on time with an actual vehicle and guess what? Scott usually disappears until the last 10 minutes of class because Scott has 2 jobs and doesn’t really care about his students success. The $10000 waste is all the expensive tools and that $5000 Snap On box that they basically tell the students you absolutely need even though you really don’t touch your tools all that much. And finally the timing of lying eventually gets unbearable. With the tension between John D and I he went behind my back told Alex a bunch of lies such as I’m not doing enough, I’m not being hands on, I’m missing during class, and I’m being disrespectful to him which resulted in me being set in a self made intervention because apparently to Alex instructors are always right. After the whole intervention I had to tell John D when I had to go to the bathroom and after class I had to go spend 30 minutes finding Alex to tell him one thing I learned in class today. Sounds a lot like kindergarten. This resulted in me having a bad relationship with my managers at work(auto industry job CWI told me I had to have to graduate) and losing my job for constantly being late. I also quit CWI because 2 years of being a rag doll for working my butt off eventually gets old believe it or not. Fighting through the depression and anger wasn’t worth the degree in my opinion. This was my experience at CWI and I truly hope yours is different but I would explore your options before you just throw yourself into that school.Alex Hartley

If i could rate this school a 0 i would. I recently moved from out of state, and just started my first semester at this school. My fiance and i have numerous issues, and it's only the second week of class. If you want financial aid from this school, good luck its a joke. We've been working on financial aid since FEBRUARY and still don't have it. We go to "one stop" and they say "oh no, you need this this this and this". Okay, fine so we would do that and go back to turn in what they wanted, then it was "nope that's all wrong you don't need any of this, this is what you need". It's been a ton of loopholes and i feel as if the staff aren't trained properly and we've been told different things every time. Their website is outdated and way behind other schools. Blackboard is unorganized, their payment plans are a joke. I had issues just trying to buy my textbooks, you would think that would be simple right?! Not at this school. They have a 10% graduation rate and i can see why. They make me want to move just to find a better school. Don't take online classes either because there teachers drop you for "nonattendance" when really their just unorganized and can't correctly check the assignments via the students. The education meets expectations, teachers are helpful/colorful, classrooms are medium size like high school; so you get the student participation/feedback that assists you in your development and growth. Its a little dull but if you work, your older, or are looking for parallel education to other schools at half the price CWI is fine. We like the campus and the location. The store is helpful when looking for books and offer rentals and used books to help with cost. We have a lot of trouble with registering classes. They encourage you to do it yourself, but it's very difficult and we've always needed extra help. Then they kept getting my daughter's major wrong. That caused her to take a whole class she didn't need. We asked for a credit toward our next semester for the un-needed class and were only told "everyone makes mistakes" and that they would not credit us for the class. Each department will discuss their business with you only and you have to call one department, handle business with them, and then call the other department. We're told if we have a problem with our FAFSA app., "just ask the financial dept., they'll help you." They never have helped us. They just show us to the laptops in registration and tell us we are "free to use them" to get our business finished. Just be sure to keep an eye on your major, your classes, your credits, etc…. Thousands of interestin and unique stories have been told on that campus, and thousands more have yet to be told. I'm enrolled here and so far I've loved every moment. I just graduated from here, and transferred to WMU after. I loved every minute spent here. The staff was always helpful, my professors would always help me when I asked for help, and the campus is beautiful. I will miss my time here, but I will be much better off for my time here. If you are a Veteran and want to attend this school I recommend you don't. I personally have had multiple issues with communication with the school as well as obtaining an appointment with their one VA counselor. My appointment was made a month and a half out mainly because that specific date was the only day that would work for me. I was suppose to walk in at 4 pm to see the counselor. Mind you I called earlier that day to confirm my appointment, even received an email notification confirming my appointment. They told me they accidentally double booked, but to come in anyways and they will just squeeze me in. Came in at 350 PM checked in the front desk looked confused, I explained the situation and I didn't get seen until 5:45 PM I had a final for speech class at 6 PM. If you decide to take online classes be careful you could end up like me log in and check the course the first day of the semester in this case July 19th 2017 at 8:55 AM and see that there are no notifications or assignments post yet. Log in that Friday still having issues to find out you got dropped that Wednesday for not being active in the course. I logged in that Monday to do the Class work knowing that my other class kept me busy tues, wed, thurs. All just to find out that your email was jacked because of the conversion they did in spring, therefore getting locked from your account. I do not recommend this school or the school district it has only been a constant uphill battle for me and to many stressful occurrences. Attend a Cal State or Cal University.Cody

I have been trying to see a counselor, and so far I have come to the counseling department more than five times. Anytime I went there, they said that there are a lot of students so go come back tomorrow at 8:00 am. When I went there at 8:00 am the next day, they said oh we don't do walk ins, you can go today, but for tomorrow give us a call to confirm if there is any counselor available. I did call them the day before coming they said yes come around 8:00 am you will for sure see a counselor, I got there at 8:00 am, but unfortunately again they said that there are a lot of students and they only have one counselor. I don't know what game do they play with students, I missed going to work for 3 days, and it seems that I might not be able to take any classes this summer just because of not being able to see a counselor. I request the authorities of this nice college to pay attention to this problem, and find some possible ways of solution since the students need to have updated Educationan Plans.Tawfiq Sediqi

This college is a freaking mess and very unorganized!!!! Fist visit, they told me counseling was open until 4:30pm. Got there at 3:34pm and said they stop at 3pm. They told me to come back tomorrow and they will do counseling till 4pm. I got early from work the nex day, and when I get to the counseling office, they said they are not doing counseling today! They tell me to come back tomorrow. They couldn't take appointments because they were too busy that week. I come back the next day, my job let me get off early again, when I get to the counseling they tell me their system is down! They tell me to come back on Saturday for the event. They tell me counseling and student services will be open. I'm here at the counseling at 10am, they freaking tell me no counselors today, they are only taking picture for IDS !!!! This is the worse experience I had. Very unprofessional, not organized!!!! I'm very upset!!!!!Miriam Gal

ACC is the best Community College in Colorado period. A large fraction of the teachers employed here are ex-Ivy League professors. My intro to business teacher was a top business professor at Clemson University. Most professors have PhD’s as opposed to a master’s degree. The grading process is very fair and these professors really care about your education and will go above and beyond to see that you succeed, granted you actually seek the help this is college people the teachers most likely aren’t going to come to you. There are so many different resources, including, but not limited too: Free tutors who are amazing ( in my opinion better than if you hired one), teachers who actually care about your future and present situations, book store/school supplies store on campus, a cafe with Caribou coffee, a milkshake machine and other great snacks, there are plenty of different areas to do school work or study that are very comfortable and convenient, they have hundreds if not thousands of majors and minors to choose from you want it, they’ve got it and so much more. Arapahoe Community College is by far the greatest her in Colorado. It is not overly priced the tuition rates are so great basically you can receive an Ivy League education for 10-15k per year. It’s an amazing way to save money especially when you are planning to go to a big university. Better to spend 10-15k on required pre- requisite classes, AKA GenEd rather than 25-75k. And since ACC has such amazingly qualified professors you won’t be behind , or unable to transfer successfully to a 4-year university, you will be able to make a smooth transition. Veteran student here, all I can say is this school has been a waste of my benefits. The administration is aware that they are understaffed, busy, and stretched far too thin. Though nothing has changed not just with ACC but CCCS as well. There was a total of 4 semesters dealing with covid and distance learning, and there was no change in how it felt to learn from Spring 2020 till this past Spring 21. Four semesters with no change in how classes are taught, how students are engaged, how professors make sure that you are understanding the information, the list goes on and on. I had given up in most of my classes that I took here. I have felt everything but motivation, and determination to want to participate and study. The course I am studied in was faulty and dated. The introductory class alone is dated and will not prepare you for what it is to be an interior designer let alone give an actual representation of the work done in the field. I didn't learn to sketch, read floor plans, study the design process, bubble charts, box charts. I LEARNED HOW TO DECORATE. It was also very clear that if you wanted to decorate and only decorate you would do well in this program. I can’t believe how much this organization has failed its students and faculty. Save your scholarships, grants, and VA benefits and go else were.David Pratt

I’m seriously contemplating whether I to stop attending ACC. It doesn’t make since that online classes cost $100 extra per credit when a professor has you read chapters, and answer the chapter questions and do a weekly discussion question. There was no feedback to where I could know if I was grasping the concepts. I’d rather research what books each class provides and read them on my own then Pay $900 to a teacher that doesn’t communicate with us at all. On top of that, I experienced a micro-aggression during my final presentation where my professor asked if my business sold burritos because we were a Latino museum… This school needs to work with educating their teachers to learn how to treat their diverse students with respect and dignity. We actually don't visit the college but the bay that's right beside the college. We are from Illinois and every vacation we come to this area. I'm not sure what the name of the bay area is but it's always easy to locate because of nearness to the college. My grandkids love coming here and I feel they are safe because the water is pretty shallow till about 20 feet out which gives them opportunities to wade and look for sand crabs. The college itself reminds me of my hometown college. Not too big and well designed. I like the fact it's spread over the block area. I feel like this school is robbing my GI benefits by telling me I “need” a class, then the next semester they tell me I didn’t need the class. I have 49 credit hours but was just told that 16 of those were ones I didn’t need. How is that possible? Even the VA approved of the classes, but now all of a sudden they are classes I didn’t need. And now I have to take another semester at GCSC when this whole summer I thought I was graduating after fall semester 😭Nikki Head

This college is student focused. It's a great addition to the area. It allows students from the area to stay local and obtain useful and profitable degrees without having the high cost of leaving the area. I really believe that Michigan Tech is an exceptional school. I am a high school counselor and I visited there as part of one of their counselor visit programs. They have a lot of excellent programs and a student well leave there well prepared for a career. One of the drawbacks is that it’s very far north in the state of Michigan which a lot of students don’t necessarily want to go that far. But if they do want to go that far it’s worth the trip. There’s also a lot of great aspects to the campus like you can ski for free there’s a lot of outdoorsy types of things to do and it’s right on the river.Jacob McLouth

University: Great school. Amazing management and very friendly people. If you have it in you then getting a professor to fund you is not very hard. Lots of on-campus part time job opportunities. Location: Though the scenic beauty is amazing and being a college town really has its perks when it comes to safety, life gets really really boring if you are not a fan of the snow or the cold. Conclusion: If you like to study, have a peaceful environment and go to a club like once or twice per semester then this is the place!Amey Sawant

A good University for mechanical engineering for design, manufacturing, IC engines, combustion, thermal, hybrid electric vehicle,etc. I specifically loved the location of the University, it's a beautiful city. For person who like to hang out more, it doesn't have much of things as u will expect from an American city. It also doesn't have any Indian restaurant. I am in my sixth week taking online courses at MATC. I have chosen the IT Support Associate Degree program, for two reasons: One the program is only two years, I’ll be able to launch into the job market faster, and because IT is such a diverse, and fast growing career path, I know I will find a fit into the IT world upon graduation. I chose MATC because MATC is convenient and conventional. I can take classes online, at my own pace, and be on campus for the classes I need more focus and dedication to. This IT program combined with my 10 plus years customer service experience, I know I will be able to reach any career goal I set. Now, while my interest in computers and knack for problem solving I know this career path will be suitable for me, however, to any prospective student looking for a quick money type of career, this program is not for you. This program consists of lots of physical and mental work, also taking consideration of the customers you are serving. If a prospective student welcomes challenges and is comfortable with asking questions and not feeling intimidated by the mass amount of information you will retain then this is a program for you. Prospective students should also be aware that they don’t have to work or figure stuff out alone, one of my favorite accommodations is having access to tutoring, whether online or in person- at all campuses. Fellow future students should also know that acquiring their degree at MATC is a smart money move, students can save thousands of dollars getting their education here, as opposed to a four year college/university. Future students should also know that credits will transfer to a four year college such as MSOE or UWM.Britanni Hildenbrand

Information Technology is very informative program. This program breaks down a lot of things that can happen with computer systems. It is a to-date program. I choose this program because I want to go more in depth with technology. Everyone uses technology every day. I would like to be able to assist those who are not tech savvy. MATC I.T support program has a great path program. Pathway allows you get a few certificates take a break and come back for your diploma. Completing this program will give the knowledge and skill I need to become an I.T professional. Instructors are very helpful. Staff is friendly. My experience in MATC IT Computer Support Specialist program is limited but good so far. I chose to pursue this degree because it lines up well with my current work experience and career goals. So far, I have been able to take all my classes online with no scheduled class times, so I can complete assignments at my own pace without interfering with my work schedule. Another thing this program does well, is that it offers options to achieve many different certifications on your way to a degree. They also work with businesses to help their student get jobs after graduating. I would recommend this program to someone looking to get into IT Support as a career.Alexander Salas

The school is great I would give it 5 stars. The on campus housing I would give zero stars. Just don't live on campus, there is a lot of crime in the housing. My first year here was great I didn't have a problem. This year is my second year and I have had bad luck with my whole roommate situation. I have had my stuff get stolen on two separate occasions. The first time my mini fridge and a poster got stolen I went to the housing directors and they said to me. "I don't know what you want me to do about it it's not like I can go check every ones dorm." They do have the authority to go and do that, because they did it early this year when one of the R.A.'s got some of his stuff stolen. Also they didn't want me to fill out a report about it because they have to send all of the crime reports to the state and it all goes up online. They will try to discourage people from filling out the reports and will not even tell you about it unless you ask to fill one out. My mini fridge eventually showed up, because I was asking every one about it and my guess is who ever took it got scared and ditched it. The second time stuff was stolen from me I had a whole cupboard of food stolen and the housing director won't do anything. Depending on your roommate situation you can have a great time or a terrible time, If I would have known I was going to have such bad roommates and the housing directors wouldn't do anything I would have lived off campus. Last year I didn't want the school year to end, and now I can't wait to leave and go home. So if you come to VCC I would highly suggest living off campus because this is a great school, it's just the housing situation isn't the greatest. It is also cheaper to live off campus then it is to live on campus. This is still a great school to come to great classes and teachers will help you out if you need it. Don't decide to not come because of what I wrote about because this is the best school I have ever seen.barry melrose

Honestly, should have listened to everyone discrediting this school. Cheaper ain't better. This school has stressed me out and I've only been attending for one semester. They keep changing my aid amount, will not reimburse my refund and all together have made my college experience a nightmare in hell especially with me working full-time. It always something new going on with my financial information for the following semester and new requirements that were completed prior to me attending resurfacing. Who has the time to keep re-ensuring that they're getting the money they already previously accepted? It doesn't matter how early you send your FAFSA in, they will find a way to have it reprocessed so late that you won't recieve the amount you already accepted. Honestly, I want to withdraw this semester but my grades are so high it would be no point.Jazmyliena Martin

Very poor experience, people don't care about the disabled students, they had charged me over $1k for not helping me get into my classes and they've abandoned me in 2010. One star for absolute failure. Edit: 9/14/2022 this so-called trio program from Owens community college isn't helpful not resourceful of how am I supposed to go to college, they sign me up late not knowing I'm missing out on my assignments and these advisors in the school are lazy and rude like they don't care for the disabled students such as myself. Attended Owens and completed an Associates degree in 2001. Returned to a local area 4 year college to complete a Bachelor of Science. Due to the high cost and mediocre experience. I chose to take as many transfer classes as possible at Owens. A full time semester was a fraction of a 4 year college semester. Pretty rigorous course material and most importantly, courses are well structured, you could actually work ahead following the syllabus. Students and staff are pleasant. Have my 4 year degree, and returning to Owens for certificate programs to fill in the gaps from said 4 year college curriculum.Brent A.

Difficulties with one of the financial assistance representative. She wasn’t very helpful and was rude. My daughter completed all the necessary financial aid paperwork weeks ago including myself turning in the IRS and financial documents needed for her to apply for financial aid. Jordan, the financial assistance staff wasn’t very willing to answer questions and ended up hanging up on my daughter never to answer the phone again. She received an email indicating she didn’t meet the deadline to begin school this quarter. She had turned in all documents multiple times. We escalated the situation to leader ship and the financial aid issues were quickly resolved and my daughters account was placed on hold so that she is able to get into school this quarter. After more consideration, we have chosen to pursue education at Seattle Central CC, this school is not the right fit for us. We all have to remember that when we are taking roles and employment and helping the community and serving others, we truly have to feel that way inside. We really have to have empathy and compassion and love for others and working a role where people are going to need your help and ask questions. It takes patience. And if you don’t have that, maybe you should consider a different career. Seattle Central community college has taken my daughter on and she really enjoyed her teachers and her class and I think that was the best choice.Aisha Pleasant

I attend Everett Community College online. I love the school but the financial aid disbursements are a pain. I am pleading with the school to please offer direct deposit to ALL of their students. Today I had to drive around to cash the paper check they send to out of state students. My bank could not cash it immediately because it would be a two day wait for verification purposes. Well, I need my money today to purchase my books. I went to 6 different locations to try to cash the check. They all said they were unable to verify the check with the school. At Speedy Cash, one lady was looking at me like I was a thief. She has never heard of Everett Community College or a disbursement check. I just sighed, grabbed my check and walked out. Finally, my last stop was Ace Cash Express and they gave me no hassle but charged me $80 to cash it. I left the house at 10:00 am and did not arrive home until after 1:00 p.m. In all it took me almost three hours to try to cash a paper check and deposit it into my bank card. So much time wasted trying to cash a paper check.Val Sc.

I would not recommend this school to anyone especially international students. They created new policy that new international students need to live in the dorm that will be finished in Fall quarter at least 2-3 quarters. (EXCEPT students who are under 18, have relatives or legal parents here, or disable). I don't see any good reason for this policy. Why do you have to force us to stay in your expensive building? If it cheaper than other apartments around there, I wouldn't be offended. Their expensive classes are not worth it. The staffs are good but some are not, they are not professional. If I can turn back time, I wouldn't waste my time and money here.Phanwara R.
