This course is awesome! I just took their EMT 24 hour recertification class that takes place over 4 condensed days. The main instructor is really experienced, respectful and very competent. All of the skill instructors are hard-working and very helpful. I got all of the hours, testing and sign offs I needed to keep practicing in CA. Mike Wilson is the BEST teacher!!! He is so knowledgeable and he truly cares about his students. 12/10 I would recommend his EMT course to everybody I know. The EMT course is definitely challenging but this guy gives you the recourses needed to, not only be successful on the national test, but also everyday in the field. This is an amazing department full of amazing people. From the director (Michael) to the primary instructors (Anthony, Ryan, and a multitude of skilled professionals), this place shines with experience. If you want to learn the best Prehospital Care in the world, I recommend starting here. If you take their EMT Accelerated class, beware that you’ll need to dedicate your life entirely to this while going through it. However, I think you’ll leave a new person full of more knowledge than you’d think a person can learn in one month. No matter what course you take, you’re in good hands! I seriously cannot say enough good things about this program. I went into the course with high expectations that were far surpassed the first day we met our clinical instructors and classmates. Each instructor brought a unique quality to the classroom and my interest was piqued from the very first lecture to the bittersweet last day of skills. UCLA EMT hybrid was a great experience! The instructors were so helpful/professional and are willing to help connect you to the companies and volunteer programs once you get certified. This course will push you, and you do have to study – but it is all worth it. They prepare you to be the best EMS provider possible and really get you prepped for the NREMT exam. One of the best EMT courses out there. I completed the Tues/Thurs evening course from Jan 2022 to March 2022 at the Redondo Beach campus. I had to balance a full-time engineering job along with this evening course. I knew if I wanted to succeed, I had to stay engaged and ask questions. I believe anyone can pass this class if you're fully committed to it. This means reading and practicing. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to stay caught up. Redondo campus has some outstanding instructors. Andrew Frank lectured on Tuesdays. He spoke clearly and answered all questions stemming from his extensive experience as a Medic/Nurse. Manny Eskander lectured on Thursdays. He is a Pre-Med and EMT instructor. Both are highly knowledgeable and will teach you everything you need to know to succeed and be ready for the job. Andrew Frank had to lecture in Anaheim for the remaining weeks of our class due to staffing which allowed Manny to fill in the rest in Redondo. He simplified lectures and taught us to think critically during patient assessment situations. He is a future doctor and will be a very great one at that. You need to practice your hands-on psychomotor skills. Manny and skills instructor Angelina did a great job teaching us the skills which ultimately lead to us succeeding in this course. I recommend taking the National Registry as soon as possible upon course completion. I passed the NREMT on my first try with plenty of time to spare. Thank you West Coast EMT!Michael Ursic

I want to start off by saying that I absolutely loved this course! I enrolled in the 5- week program and had Jayson as my instructor. He is an amazing teacher and made learning the material so much fun. This was a plus because his style of teaching made the days fly. Jayson was open to any question that we had and he even stayed after class for anyone who wanted additional help. I felt well prepared for both my ride alongs because he exposed us to skills every day and encouraged us to become comfortable with the procedures that we will face in the field. I also passed my NREMT on the first try ( woohoo)! Time went so fast. Jayson is an amazing instructor and he does everything in his power to ensure his students succeed! Make sure that you are willing to put in the work though!Antionette Simmons

I was a full-time EMT student here in February/March 2020. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with West Coast EMT. Kent was an awesome instructor that kept us engaged and smiling through lectures and hands-on skills sessions. He took the material seriously but had a down-to-earth, understanding attitude that was very receptive to questions (no such thing as a stupid question). Shout-out to Emily the administrator who posted our grades super fast as well! The class covered a TON of material, so there's not really any "off" time outside of class. If you don't dedicate all of your attention and efforts, don't expect to pass. I assume the poor reviews are those from students who were not able to put in 100%John Murray

Let me start this review out by saying this class will not be easy especially if you take the 5 week course. This course is something you have to be fully engaged in or your going to fail. Now for the instructors they' re all amazing. Matt if he is your lecturer its going to be a very stressful class he will go through and ask the class questions to keep you engaged. By the end of the class for the day you will be happy the class is over and you can relax but you will also have an amazing grasp on the subject he was teaching. Adam another one of there lecturers. He's great he is always willing to answer questions you might have. My two problems is that he skips through some information. As well as hes just not Matt. Now for the skills instructors listen. Nicole one of my favorite skills instructors will make you keep doing the skills until you have them down. She the perfect level of hard ass who cares about her students. A few tips for the class -form a study group -Note cards -record your lectures -PRACTICE YOUR SKILLS -don't be afraid to ask for help on a concept you don't understand -Learn the pathophysiology -Learn terms or Matt will be on you So in conclusion if you thinking about taking this class make sure your prepared to put in the effort needed to pass the class day 1 they will explain what you need to do to pass. Also know when or if you make it through the class your gonna know your stuff. there pass rate on the nremt is so good because by the end of the class the information will become second nature. As of writing this post I have passes the class, Nremt, and have 2 interviews with an ambulance company, and Fire department. This class is not easy but if you take the time and effort it takes to pass the class you will be a good EMT.Genevieve Sowers

I didn't think I would need to read reviews or even write one because I assumed formal training should be the same regardless of who you take it from. The first impression was somewhat bad already because the program coordinator needed to boast about its success as if he's trying to sell something. He boasted about how the passing rate for his program is 90% compared to others around 60%; however, in my class, 24 students signed up but less than 16 completed it. I'm giving it 2-stars instead of 1 because your daily instructors themselves were good, but unfortunately, they have no say on how the program runs. I'm sure that the program coordinator is a decent person outside of work, but my honest opinion is that the management needs a new approach towards the students. If you look at other reviews, you'll read about yelling and insulting. Not a big deal, but this attitude towards students is more appropriate for academies and the program coordinator needs to understand that his students are CLIENTS, not his recruits. Some may think the yelling and screaming might be good stress training but it was not beneficial at all and took away valuable time from actual teaching/correcting. My biggest disappointment is that I was not given the proper feedback on my weaknesses: after the initial exam, I asked what I needed to study/review and the answer I got was "everything" (as if it's reasonable for someone to study a whole 3-inch book over a weekend). The only reason I enrolled in this program is because I wanted to complete it as quickly as possible. I've heard from other EMTs that UCLA offers a better program.Manny Islam

I really liked this course A LOT. Yes, the course is a bit more difficult than other courses, but that's a good thing. They really prepare you for working in the emergency field and make sure you're able to handle difficult situations under pressure. Some people just can't handle the pressure of dealing with life or death situations, and instead want the class to be easy and relaxed. EMT's are expected to save people's lives, would you yourself really want someone who slacked off and took it easy to take care of you when your own life hangs in the balance? Of course not. Unfortunately some people don't see it this way, and instead take out their frustrations on this course, instead of just admitting they aren't cut out for the job. The course itself is highly informative, and goes into a bit more detail to help prepare you a bit for paramedic school, should you want it. The instructors are very helpful and try and give you as many tips as they can for how things actually happen in the real world. I would highly recommend this course to other people.Alex Ruiz
