Dr. Marc Cohen displays patient reviews on his website, but apparently posts ONLY those reviews that are very favorable to him. I have attempted to post a NEGATIVE (1 star) review on his website 4 times but my review has yet to post. I believe my review was entirely truthful. I CONSIDER SUCH ACTION BY DR. COHEN TO BE HIGHLY UNETHICAL, DISHONEST, UNPROFESSIONAL AND GREATLY MISLEADING TO THE PUBLIC. THE REVIEW THAT I WOULD LIKE TO POST ON DR. COHEN'S SITE CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING: After chipping a crown, I went to Dr. Cohen for what I expected to be a routine crown replacement procedure. After preparing the tooth and crown, Dr. Cohen mis-seated the permanent crown. HE READILY AND IMMEDIATELY ADMITTED TO HIS NEGLIGENCE upon mis-seating the crown, STATING THAT THE MISTAKE WAS TOTALLY HIS FAULT AND THAT I HAD DONE NOTHING WRONG. He then decided to replace the mis-seated crown and drilled it off. IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT I WAS IN NO PAIN PRIOR TO THIS SECOND PROCEDURE BY DR. COHEN. Ever since that procedure, I have experienced pain in the area of the tooth in question EVERY time I eat. I believe this procedure should never have been necessary had the original crown been seated correctly. My pain has existed for many months now. Thereafter Dr. Cohen explained to me that since I was put in pain by and remained in pain after his procedure to remove the crown he mis-seated, I had only three options. I could remain in pain for the rest of my life or I could have a dental implant or a bridge. Over a period of approximately 14 months, I visited Dr. Cohen's office at least 17 TIMES regarding this tooth. In addition, I had 2 visits with endodontists and had what proved to be a needless root canal. The pain indicated a root canal was appropriate but the pain did not subside after that procedure. I also had 1 consultation with an oral surgeon and 2 consultations with another dentist. Had the crown replacement been routine, I would likely have had no more than 3 visits to Dr. Cohen's office and none to other dentists regarding the tooth in question. I THEREFORE HAD A TOTAL OF 22 DENTAL VISITS WHEN 3 SHOULD HAVE BEEN SUFFICIENT. The consulting dentist twice made suggestions to Dr. Cohen which could possibly resolve my pain but Dr. Cohen, after apparently misleading that dentist, did not follow any of them. Dr. Cohen referred me to a dentist for a procedure Dr. Cohen did not do. Upon calling this dentist, I learned he was out on an extended medical leave. I returned to Dr. Cohen and he said that this dentist had likely relapsed with his drug problem. Separately, Dr. Cohen's office manager made a similar statement to me. After that discussion, I asked Dr. Cohen whom else I might see, bringing up names from a list of Top Dentists in an issue of Memphis Magazine. Dr. Cohen made disparaging remarks about two dentists on the list. I feel one of the remarks had racial undertones. Recognizing that I had a credit balance on my account with Dr. Cohen, I requested a full refund of such balance. Before giving me the refund, Dr. Cohen tried to get me to sign a Release, absolving him of all liability. I responded to his request for the Release by saying that I considered such tactics UNDERHANDED AND UNETHICAL. I did not give him the Release he requested. Dr. Cohen agreed to reimburse me for my needless root canal (done by another dentist). If Dr. Cohen did not cause the need for and/or did not feel responsible for this very significant and costly procedure, why did he reimburse me for it? I consider Dr. Cohen's reimbursing me for this procedure, HIS VIRTUAL ADMISSION OF HIS NEGLIGENCE. The relatives I referred to Dr. Cohen have all left him for various reasons. I am embarrassed now to have ever recommended him. I BELIEVE THE PAIN AND EXTREME INCONVENIENCE I HAVE EXPERIENCED OVER THIS SIGNIFICANT PERIOD, COUPLED WITH THE POSSIBLE EXTENSIVE DENTAL PROCEDURES I MAY FACE IN THE FUTURE AND THE PAIN, INCONVENIENCE AND EXPENSE ASSOCIATED WITH THEM, ARE THE DIRECT RESULT OF DR. COHEN'S NEGLIGENCE.S J
