20 Best Acting Programs In Tampa, FL (2022 Updated)

If you are looking for a small liberal arts college that is focused on the whole student, this is the place. With a goal of having 100% of the freshman class taking a semester abroad and a faculty mentor assigned before the start of the regular fall semester are some of what make this college more unique and a great choice. This is a 4:1:4 program where students have an opportunity to do research starting their freshman year. The atmosphere is relaxed and geared for learning and reflection. Lots of beautiful green spaces and beach area along the waterfront to congregate and study. All faculty and staff focus on hands-on and individual approach to student learning and development. With less than 1900 students, there is a sense of deeper relationships and community. As a mom of a prospective student, I was impressed by the high touch approach and the emphasis on developing the whole students into thriving adults. I also love that all classes are taught by professors not TAs or grad students. It helps knowing that facility is engaged and has an open door policy. I inquired with current students on this as well. They mentioned it was one of the things they love most. I have gone to both public and private school tours and it's clear to me the relationships of students with faculty are not the same when faculty "phone it in.." with their classes. FWIW P.S. I graduated in 2008 and only in recent years have begun to value the education I received. Eckerd did not teach me how to manage business, Eckerd taught me how to think. Learning how to think critically enriched my life and gave me tools to be dropped into jobs and teach myself. This whole making college a safe and fancy place is ridiculous. Eckerd looks like a ritzy boutique place for rich kids to get an education. I hope Eckerd can focus on education and have liberal arts be accessible. I would highly encourage you to go to Eckerd. To all the high school freshman posting reviews and rating AMDA 5 stars stop. You do not go there. Do not give it a bigger head than it already has. Attended in 2013-2014 would have been one star if it weren't for some (a few) wonderful teachers. (Stacy Lee, Kathy, Jeff, Tim,and Ray thank you) I am posting this review because they just posted an instagram post about 13 reasons why. They said check this out help is available. Would have been nice if that was ACTUALLY TRUE. However, if you have any sort of mental health problems you are told to grow up! (By teachers AND THE DAMN COUNSELOR) you are told stories of how the show must go on fake it til you make it. If you cannot stop crying you are weak, and theater is just a hobby for you. The teachers name drop and make you feel bad about yourself for not being Jason Derulo.The only person who helped me get help was my acting teacher (god bless him), who sent me to the counselor who told me I was acting like a child and that I need to prioritize. "If this isn't for you you don't have to be here" I told him this is the most depressed I've ever been. No offer to find therapy near me. No weekly meetings. No follow up visit. He suggested I find a new dream. So I did but now I'm 25,000 dollars in debt after 9 of the worst months of my life. Like others have said AMDA is what you make it but if you have any sort of mental health issues don't count on getting any help. PS. The dorms have a large scary roach problem, pretty sure it used to be a mental hospital (how fitting) PPS. I can acknowledge that I learned a good deal in my acting and VPS classes. I joined AMDA NYC back in 2021 Fall. This school has changed my life. Incredible staffing who are all working professionals within the acting world and all are incredibly motivated, fun and inspiring. My time at this school has been nothing but positive thus far and, the school continues to get better and better. I have done my own reading into reviews and the bad reviews have definitely changed. I have seen things change here, I have seen things become progressively better for the students here at AMDA. AMDA has become much more of a supporting and safe environment for not just me but for everybody who needs it. You certainly learn a lot here, develop great connections with your teachers and get plenty of opportunities out here. I myself, am certainly glad that I chose this school. My daughter just graduated in Sept 2017 from NYC in dance. She had a very positive experience from start to finish! Starting with Elliott Kerr, Assistant Director of Admissions. Elliott did a nice job of answering all our questions and helping get all our paperwork completed. Our daughter loved all her teachers and has said through out her program, "this is the right school for me." I have had the misfortune of hiring now 9 girls from UT on a rotating schedule( when they have availability). I know a total of 12 girls that have either recently graduated, are in nursing programs, or 2 that are currently in masters programs, the 9 that worked/Ing for me are either recent grads, in their masters program, or a rising senior… So… now of these girls, even though they are nice have any queslificariona to work.. 6 out 9 which 3 of those 6 are or were in honors programs. Have no clue what they are going to do after school. Most complained about the treatment and the overall vibe of the campus. The 4 out of 12 girls that I know are graduated and with a Bachelors degree in Nursing or teaching can’t even find a job and are working in low level paying jobs… practically a step up from min. Wage. This university does not produce graduates that have a impact on the world. The quality of person who is going here 8 out of 10 is not the person you want working for you… This is a school for people who are good test takers but not ready or prepared to be in the real world at all… Go to bigger school that’s not private – private universities answer to know one which is not so good.. especially when it comes to the quality of graduates they are producing and putting out into the world. Which seems subpar at best. Save yourself the hassle, go to a public university. Like USF is bigger, better diversity, better teachers, bigger endowment, better statics with the type of person they produce back into the working world. Search history- During its operating period from 1891 to 1930, the hotel housed thousands of guests, including hundreds of celebrities. When the Spanish–American War broke out, Plant convinced the United States military to use his hotel as a base of operations. Generals and high-ranking officers stayed in its rooms to plan invasion strategies, while enlisted men encamped on the hotel's acreage. Colonel Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders also were at the hotel during this time. Roosevelt retained a suite, and during the day led his men in battle exercises on the property. The Tampa Bay Hotel closed in 1930 as the Great Depression severely curtailed tourism. It remained empty and unused for three years. Beautiful school in a great location, however, if you're looking for a good school with good academics DO NOT COME HERE. The nice look of the school and large dorm rooms is about all it has to offer. As a freshman I went through three advisors in one year without any notification of having mine switched, and I also told my current advisor that I am transferring several times; but I keep receiving emails from them telling me I still have to register for next semester. The advisors here are not really that helpful at all. When you contact any facilities they either take weeks to respond, or do not respond at all. The grading scale is also very odd, so take a look at that as well. My first semester I had all A's and one AB and that brought my GPA down to a 3.8, when in most colleges an A- will bring your GPA down to around 3.9. The wifi is almost nonexistent unless you're using a computer in the library. Please do not invest your money here and go to a more accredited and student friendly college, so you do not have to waste time and stress looking to transfer out of here like many freshman do.Morgan Lowe

A lack of compassion Waited for over an hour, was called up and told to wait a little longer for someone who could accommodate with my request. Sat back down and when I approached 20 minutes after to inquire regarding the waiting time, was asked to sit down in one of the two chairs to discuss my reason for visiting. They asked my name, then proceeded to taunt me by assuming my age was older several times, guessing random ages, before giving me a chance to answer their question "How old are you?" Proceeded to degrade me in front of others when looking for options on a list to finish the next step for starting college, then said "Well..we are trying.." with a sarcastic and frustrated tone of voice, when I didn't have one of the necessary second documents shown on the list. The advisor made me feel absolutely worthless. Felt horrible when leaving the room and left with a feeling that I was far too old with no other options, than to be attending their college grounds. Will keep note to discuss the Wise account and any other details with another advisor, should I encounter this specific advisor again. The Spring Hill campus is the absolute worst of all of the campuses and I’d steer clear of them, opting for the Brooksville campus instead. They’re insanely disorganized, and trying to speak to someone is like pulling teeth. Even when you do speak to someone, they give you the run around. I’ve request for my transcripts to be sent on numerous occasions, dating back to May/April and my school STILL hasn’t received them. I’ve called multiple times to all different departments to resolve this issue; financial aid, for an advisor and eventually, to the student activities department. I regretfully didn’t ask for their name, but they took my information and said they’d take it to the person in charge of transcripts and that they’d be calling me back within the next two business days. Those business days came and went and I never received a phone call. I called the North campus instead and thankfully had the pleasure of speaking with Lidia, who allowed my family member to pick up my transcripts in person and just mail them to me. This campus is awful and no amount of free food or mediocre events will be able to fix that.N/A

Terrible I got dropped from one of my classes for no reason when I did my work on time and when I contacted the teacher Dr.ray asking why I was dropped and all she said was that I havn't done work and lied to me saying she hasn't seen assignment turned in since feb 15 saying its been six weeks even if that was the case wich it is not due to the break and the virus you would think you would get some courtesy I continue to contact the dean and her boss and was complety ignored not very surpising smh been going to PHSC for 2 years now and dissapointed being lied to a deceived. Already hired a lawyer to take PHSC to court due to the fact I depend on being a full time student to receive my VA benefeits now this Dr.ray teacher ( I think a doctor in being rude and in considerate) anyway don't take dr.ray classes. This school provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the 7 grade levels. It does a great job of fostering community within the student body and outside in the community at large through regular philanthropic events. The teachers want to see their students succeed and make themselves available to students to provide one-on-one support as needed. Personally, I love that it is considered "cool" to work hard and do your best. Tampa Prep has helped my son become more confident and self assured, and helped him stretch outside his comfort zone via public speaking opportunities and through playing in band. A true college preparatory school. Great education within a supportive, nurturing environment. My kids love going to school here. The middle school faculty and administration are awesome! They guide the kids through what can be a tricky transition from elementary school into middle school. Very supportive and nurturing. The high school provides a rigorous academic program coupled with a variety of clubs, sports and other groups the students can participate in. Excellent school that challenges and supports students every step of the way. Everyone (teachers, admin, front desk, custodians – everyone!) goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. Love the fact that they value collaboration and growth over competition. Both of my kids tried sports they had never played before because they were encouraged to take a risk and Go Beyond! I've been starring at the reviews and as much as I'd like to say that this is an amazing school, it isn't. I graduated in 2013. The school is failing apart, the books are torn and dirty, and the vents have mold. The air conditioner used to break down every other month. The office staff doesn't care about you and treats you without respect, because we were children. They never cared. They never had good clubs and when clubs were finally organized they would cancel them. The staff doesn't care about the students, only some do. Mr. Haupner is a terrible person. He bully's the students there. He's rude and nasty. I remember he once came into my class room telling us that we were never going to mount up to anything, and that we were never going to succeed in life. He said that our parents don't care about us and spoil us. He told us that we were worthless and that we were so lucky to be attending his school. That we we're privileged to be there. I only wish that I had my phone on me to record him, but of course that's against school policy. He even kicked out one of my class mates because she drank some water from her water bottle. Saying that she was disrupting him and the classroom and that she was rude. That's when I had enough. It was one of the many reasons why I chose to leave my senior year, four months before graduation. Not to mention, the million dollar sound stage that we weren't allowed to us as a student. The cafeteria is so small that it didn't fit all students so we had to find places to eat around the school outside and if you couldn't find a place that's it your stuck underneath the hot sun or rain. Finally, parents began calling and complaining. That's when they decided to open up the sound stage so we can eat in there. The transportation is terrible. The have roaches in the bus and the buss staff curse students out. Very unprofessional and disgusting. People would walk in and out of school ground like nothing. Kids did drugs in the bathroom and come to school intoxicated and no one noticed, or cared. I can say that there are some teachers that were so amazing. Like Me. Snow ( an English teacher,) and the physical education teachers, coach Murphy & teper. They were mentors and treated their students with so much respect, love, and kindness. And maybe two film teachers. Besides that, think twice before sending your kids to this dirgrace place called a "charter" school.sabrina howell

G-Star has been an excellent fit for our daughter. After having to relocate and move her from school and friends in Georgia that our daughter adored, G-Star School of the Arts has proved to be a Godsend. She picked up a motto at this school of ‘no judging’ and is pleased she has not encountered or seen bullying. My husband and I have seen our daughter easily acclimate to the wonderful environment of inclusion that founder Greg Hauptner has created at this school. It is the perfect blend of high expectations in academics and the freedom to learn and growing artistically. Students are given ample opportunities to pursue leadership roles as well. My daughter is happy and thriving! She needed this kind of environment where she could feel confident to make new friends and spread her wings and learn more with theatre, gain new knowledge of the film industry and pursue entertainment endeavors. G-Star has fit the bill for her in every way. We could not be more pleased with her extremity dedicated teachers and staff. This school says a lot about when excellent leadership happens when you see teenagers that are happy in their high-school. My daughter has had a rocky start, however, my husband and I are working with faculty to get these issued resolved. We got off to a very slow start, however, it had been coming together. I hope things continue to progress and we can resolve the understanding issues. I do look forward to a resolution soon. Overall the school is a good school, and I think they do care. I will update my review pending the outcome. So I promised that I would post an update: I had the meeting with my daughter's teachers and all the issues we're addresses,so far things are going well and her grades have improved. In order for your child to be successful, you have to be a proactive parent. It also depends on the counselor that is assigned to your child because some are more proactive that others! A lovely, small theater venue with a fine, rotating schedule that features live entertainment of the musical and theatrical variety. Seating is comfortable. They have a bar with a surprisingly varied menu and you're welcome to take your beverages into the theater. Music filled the main reception area when we were there and the performance of To Kill a Mockingbird was pretty well sold out. The acting was of solid quality for the size of the venue. There are two theaters in the facility: one larger than the other, and judging by the posters hanging about the main entry, there are improvements coming to the facility. If you're looking for live theater in the Venice area for sensible prices, then you need look no further.Johnathan Williams

This theater is a cultural gem! It offers a variety of plays and concerts. Season subscriptions and single ticket prices are available online, email or by phone call, with no additional charges. Prices are very reasonable. Box office is not open for walk-up sales. Gift certificates and student prices are available. Presently, masks are optional but strongly suggested. Snacks and cocktails are sold before shows and during intermission. A recent World Fest drew theater group performances from all over the world. Venice Theater offers "great stories well played." I can not say enough about our local theater. On the outside, the staff is always so welcoming and friendly. The facility is nice and clean, and there isn't a bad seat in the house. Any show that I've seen on the main stage or in the Jervy theater have all been great shows and great performers. On the inside, both of my teenagers are growing up within the theater community. To say that I feel as though my kids are in good hands when they are there is an understatement. They are meeting great role models and hopefully. forever friends!Angie Vance

It amazes me how quickly a poorly trained food staff can ruin a night at the theater! We saw The Amazing 70’s show last Friday night and it was excellent! We ordered food and although it was small portions for a large price, it was presented well and delivered promptly by a pleasant server. We payed for our meal including a healthy tip, signed the credit card ticket, and were moved to better seats immediately over the stage. During the second half of the performance we were interrupted three times with demands to pay our bill a second time. We called off the attack by presenting our copy of the receipt. After the show I sought out the server to return a ten dollar bill she had dropped and suggest to her that she wait until after the show was over to deal with such issues. My effort was met with argument. My conversation with the food manager gave me little satisfaction. She informed me that her staff was trained not to interrupt the performance! We purchased our 4 tickets online to reserve our spot. The location was within walking distance from my hotel. Our server Danny was wonderful. He was able to bring our cocktails without interrupting the show. Many people were eating entrée and dessert. I was not aware of the menu, but I did arrive minutes before the show started. My friend was a judge, and I was part of the show. It was such a blast. Ms. Jasmine was my character, and I loved every minute on the stage. The show was amazing, fun, and unpredictable. Went here Friday night with some friends for “FST Improv: To Die For”. We were lucky enough to get seats right by the stage and it was fun to see the action right in front of you. The cast and show were funny and they had audience participation to make it more engaging. For dinner, I had the meatloaf (“Ma! What a treasure this place is. I lived in Tampa 5 years when I went to USF and started my career, then moved back to the area 4 years ago. I missed out by not getting to the Tampa Theater much sooner! The architecture is singular- sort of a tropical Spanish Art Nouveau. Gorgeous tile floors and features, gargoyles along the lobby ceilings and the theater ceiling line makes it look like a nighttime skyline. Wow. As to practical matters, the AC struggles to keep up with a full house, but I was comfortable after I settled into my seat. My seat was comfortable and I could see the stage well from my back-row seat in row X. Bar lines are long but move fast. Staff was very courteous. One quibble – its 2022, time for electronic tickets. Standing in line at a will-call table was the only disappointment. Folks, its 90 degrees with 90% humidity. Let’s speed this up! Overall, I was chuffed and will look for events at the Tampa Theater just to go back and enjoy this local gem. Recommended.Chris Crawford

Came here to watch a movie called "Waves" in February 2022 for the first time and was intrigued with the history of the building. They give a free 10-15 minute tour if you're interested. There is a lot of seating downstairs and upstairs; however, seating upstairs has less legroom. Regardless of the legroom, I decided to sit upstairs because of the general view of the theatre. They have a lot of drink and cocktail options at the concession stand, great popcorn, candies & chocolate, and mini hummus or salami/cheese packs. They also have the wine-infused salami pack option. Before the movie, there was a man playing the organ, so that was interesting and lovely – a free show! The movie ticket only costed $10 plus a $2 online fee. I am glad I finally got to come experience the inside and would recommend coming for movies and live shows, as well!Maria

So elegant! So beautiful (in a Gaudí kind of way)! So many options for events to attend! Why don't more Tampans highlight this as a must-do? Whether you are interested in a typical Blockbuster release, retro movies for nostalgia, silent movies with live organ music, sing-along musicals, guest speakers (from lectures to comedians), or just want to admire the history, there is something here to tickle your fancy! Yes, it's fully indoors and the roof is enclosed, but the nighttime sky and stars effects on the ceiling made it easy to feel like you're outdoors. The seats were comfortable and the beer refreshing. My only complaint was the lack of seat-specific tickets for the movie, but there aren't many bad seats, if any at all.Michael S

Went to the Gipsy Kings concert with Mikaela Davis and Southern Star as the opening act. Show was awesome. The Hall was redone. Main entrance is beautiful. Entrance with tickets and security was quick and simple. Staff was friendly and helpful. They have several concession stands throughout. They also offer the option to order online. Prices are reasonable. I will say that the auditorium can use a center aisle to go up and down. If you sit in the middle, you have to climb over a lot of people. I also think an outside concession stand would be nice to have drinks before going in. Perfect size venue. Will definitely return.JelloShot

I loved everything about this place other than two major things..The least comfortable theater Ive ever sat in. The seats were far too small. I felt like a sardine and it didnt help that it was too warm and had to fan myself with the playbook. The layout!! Heaven forbid you are stuck in the middle and need to make a run for the rest room!! There are no isles. The seating goes from the east wall all the way to the west wall. What were the architects thinking!!? Regardless its a beautiful building and I enjoyed the show.Gregory Carlson

This was my 1st time there and had purchased tickets for The Piano Guys. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the show and the venue. My only concerns with the Hall was a lack of information outside as to where to enter at and the seats were rather tight. Kind of felt like I was on an Allegiant Flight. I must give a bonus shout out to Greg in security. I had forgotten to leave my pocket knife in the car and he graciously held onto it until the end of the show. Most security is not as helpful. The venue was approved along with a new Amway Center (which replaced the Amway Arena) and improvements to the Camping World Stadium after a series of hearings and votes, culminating in final votes in the Orange County Board of County Commissioners on July 26, 2007, and the Orlando City Council on August 6, 2007. The design for the new venue was revealed on August 21, 2008. The venue features a 2,700-seat amplified hall, Walt Disney Theater, for Broadway musicals and multi-genre concerts as well as a 300-seat venue, Alexis & Pugh Theater, for smaller shows and events.[3] The third theater, Steinmetz Hall, a 1,700-seat multiform theater achieves an N1 sound rating–the highest possible acoustical rating. The acoustically remarkable Steinmetz Hall can transform into three different theater styles (symphony concert hall, proscenium hall, and banquet hall) to accommodate multiple events and performances. Construction for Steinmetz Hall began on March 6, 2017 and officially opened on January 14, 2022. The final performance space to complete the arts center is Judson's, a dynamic music room with cabaret-style seating to host intimate events and live entertainment. Judson's is slated to open in 2023. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the Dr. Phillips Center came up with a concept for an outdoor, socially distanced venue to continue offering performances in a time when so much of the world had shut down. Coming here always gives me so much joy (sans the Pulse vigil). And it's also a perfect time to dress up and get a little fancy. My first time coming here was for Neil deGrasse Tyson in 2016. Then Hamilton in 2019. And now that they've opened again for 2021, I have been going more often: The Jungle Book Ballet, Final Fantasy VII Remake Orchestra, The Nutcracker Ballet. It has been an enjoyable experience every time. The staff are friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are clean. But there can be long lines for the bar downstairs, so go to the other bars on different floors to get your drink faster (especially before the show starts). I do wish they served non-alcoholic beer, though. But they also have snacks you can buy, too. At the moment, they do require proof of vaccination OR a negative test at least 48-hours beforehand. In the beginning, they were very strict with the masks, but when I came recently for The Nutcracker Ballet, they seemed to have relaxed on that. For parking, I usually purchase it with my ticket, so I don't waste time looking for one once I get there. Always an amazing time at Dr P’s! There is not a bad seat in the house so if you can grab a ticket, hop on it. This place was amazing during the dark Covid days spinning on a dime and offering outside courtyard seating with food and drink delivery to your “pod”. Highly impressive and innovative way to stay in business. It’s always clean inside and the staff of quick and efficient. You can get through the beer and alcohol line in a snap. Bathrooms are super clean. Inside the architecture is beautiful, so take a stroll! Make sure you visit the balcony bar, grab a cocktail and take a moment to gaze over downtown Orlando. Face Forward Actors & Models was truly an amazing experience. During my first class I was very nervous to be in front of all of people and do my presentation but everyone one there was kind and encouraging. I barely ever write reviews but my experience training with coach Cooper at Symmetry Fitness deserves all the high praise it can get. What’s great is that you can go in there no matter what shape you’re in, no matter how much energy you have to give, and coach Cooper will seamlessly bring you into the fold so that you can get a great workout and not feel bad about whatever pace you’re at. It’s a comfortable, no judgement zone. Also coach creates thoughtful new workouts every day that make you look forward to what you’re going to get into (which helps when it’s hard to get out of bed in the morning). Ken is an absolutely fantastic trainer and I couldn’t recommend him enough! I do not like working out and Ken always comes in with a great attitude, helps you get correct form, offers advice on any health questions, and always switches up workouts so you don’t get bored doing the same thing and you get a better and well rounded workout. He creates challenging schedules that target every muscle group and I’ve seen the results his classes can give both in tone and feeling of health. This gym has made a huge impact on my life. I feel physically and mentally healthier after joining Symmetry. It makes working out feel approachable. The workouts are challenging but sustainable for long term health goals. Highly recommend! My friend and I found the chef’s Anthony and Tyler to be very enthusiastic, informative, and compassionate about what they do. After many cooking classes across the U.S., with different companies – we enjoyed this Publix cooking class the most. There’s plenty of work space, there’s tv monitors, and an endless supply of ingredients at your fingertips. The instructors really got us involved. They were very personable and still very professional. They listened well and answered all of our questions. They were very organized and so no time was waisted. What a gem!! Taking classes at Publix' cooking school is one of my favorite things to do. I've taken their six-week intro to cooking class, several "big and little" hands-on classes with my young son, and quite a few other hands-on and demo classes, and I've had such amazing experiences at every single one. The chefs are outstanding — they're all super friendly and personable, and very talented at both cooking and teaching, so you not only learn a ton, you also get to eat delicious food! Publix Aprons Cooking School is a must! I have shared photos of 2 experiences. The first one was a gift that my son received from my wife for Christmas. He want to give him something that he would remember and not just a Gift Card that he would waste. It was the perfect gift. He loves cooking and wants to go back for more classes. His class was focused on New Orlean cajon cuisine. The other class was a date night. Seafood and wine tasting. Paul, Anthony and Jamie were very engaging and knowledgeable. This was our first time using your company, and we were thoroughly impressed. Washer was acting up so I cold called Mr. Appliance. I talked to, I assume the owner, he said his name but I forgot.. Very nice and professional, offered great advice on another appliance I was having issues with. He set up a time for a technician to come out.. Damian. I had a fantastic experience with Mr Appliance. My technician, Sean, was on time, professional, friendly, honest, and efficient. He explained what was wrong with my washer, fixed it, and let me know about a couple other things that could be issues later on and was fair about explaining what was worth the cost to fix and what wasn't since my washer is older and some repairs would cost more than it's worth. Evan at Plus Tutors is hands down the best tutor for SAT Math in the business. I’d done tutoring with other companies but they didn’t help. Through summer and fall tutoring, he was able to raise my math SAT score from a 660 to a 790. This gym is a hidden gem and I feel bad even writing this review because it's the quietest, cleanest, and LEAST packed gym I've been able to find (pls don't ruin that). Ask for Emily, she'll hook you up with a great membership (and even a free coozie FOR WATER ONLY) if you ask politely. I don't have enough good things to say about this gym. The staff know your name, all of the equipment is brand new and immaculately maintained, there's an indoor track, the cleanest pool in Tampa, all while being moderately priced. If you are looking for a clean , non-judgmental, gym then this is the spot. Be sure to ask for Emily though if you want that water coozie.Zach Smith

The JCC was an great location for our 2nd Annual Cupid’s For A Cure Bachelor/Bachelorette Auction. The main screen at the entrance made such a grand first impression which allowed us to showcase our premier sponsors. The food was delicious with customized desserts to go with our theme. I love all of the extra precautions the JCC has been taking recently! All equipment is spaced 6 feet apart and every other cardio equipment is blocked off for social distancing. One of their group exercise studios has been transformed into their functional training area with kettle bells, box jumps, medicine balls, etc. Also all group exercise classes have been moved to the gym, ballroom, or outside to social distance. Top Vocal Coach Award goes to Ms. Alexa!!! Where to begin? My daughter has been going to Alexa for almost a year now, and she is crazy about her teacher. When she started, she was a shy 6-year old who had always loved to sing but lacked confidence. Ms. Alexa has helped her to grow tremendously in confidence and vocally. I have also noticed my daughter embracing her own style more. Ms. Alexa encourages her to choose her own music and they work from there. Another thing I love about the lessons she is receiving from Alexa is that she is not only learning how to develop her voice properly, but she is also learning the rudiments of music, and her passion has expanded to include piano and guitar. I love that Ms. Alexa is also skilled in various instruments. Voicercise was a hidden Gem that I am glad we found. I definitely don’t think it will be “hidden” for much longer. I had a great experience working through Voicercise and with my coach, Alexa. As a beginner who didn’t have a background in singing, I took lessons out of love, curiosity and a desire to stretch myself. Alexa was an excellent guide in all those areas and was great at connecting the technical, emotional and psychological aspects of singing. She was able to understand and patiently work through whatever reflections or challenges I had throughout my lessons, including a large amount of anxiety singing in front of her when I first started, breath management skills and pitch recognition. My voice improved significantly, and so did my confidence. Roxy was a sweetheart in the few experiences I had with her, and I enjoyed learning (through recordings) from three generations of her family—each with their own unique voice—and connecting to the wonderful family legacy behind this business.
