Am enrolled in the truck driving school at Eagle Pass; it is our final day of class. The staff and instructors at SWTJC — Eagle Pass respond to all concerns with genuine care and attention for helping any student succeed. PRICE: 5 STARS At approx: $3600.00 USD, this price cannot be beat! The national average for CDL school is $5-$6K USD. Not only will you learn to drive standard– not taught at all schools– but, you'll have professors who have 15-20+ years of experience in all aspects of CDL work. Professors are definitely there to collect a paycheck; and, most hold driving jobs elsewhere. All professors show significant interest in helping others on their way to better jobs. CLASSROOM TRAINING: 3 STARS One MUST speak or understand Spanish fluently in order to pass this part of the course. At least 1/2 of the instructors speak Spanish only. If you do not speak Spanish, it is best to speak with Mr. Olivares or Mr. Talamantes, they'll elaborate until the concept(s) is understood. Expect lots of repetitive, memorization-based [classroom] curriculum. DRIVING TRAINING: 3 STARS There was definitely not enough drive time– the fail rate for the CDL exam is stark, and sobering. Double-clutching is not taught on standard 10-speed trucks. Expect to have uneven distribution in driving time per student. Some will drive more than others, and it is easy to fall behind. Expect to argue with your classmates at least once over who gets to drive– not enough trucks, nor space in the yard for 16 students. If one doesn't run to get the keys from the professor– much like a dog chasing after a bone– he will not drive. TRUCKS: 3 STARS Trucks are constantly breaking down. Air conditioners do not work on at least 1/2 of the trucks; expect to sweat in the summer, or freeze in the winter. Trucks are worn out, and filtly– lots of student sweat, oily surfaces, and grime all over the insides, disgusting. Mysterious beeps emanate from the dash, grinding noises are common, leaks are common, and check engine lights are intermittent. Bring hand sanitizer! Bring laundry money– the yard is very dusty. FACILITIES: 5 STARS The campus building is brand new — the janitor works harder than anyone! The truck practice yard is very dusty, muddy when wet; yet: floors are still immaculate. Bathrooms are serviced everyday, and the classrooms are clean and organized. A computer lab would be nice for job applicants post-training. SWTJC has a library– 5 min drive from CDL building– available for guest computer use. Altogether, a pretty good school. Administration is responsive and open to addressing concerns, classroom material(s) are well-prepared, and you'll learn to drive a standard. Technical classes I do not recommend …teacher wants you to google or YouTube everything or expect for you to know everything….we going to college to learn not to pass the day eating and seeing what recreation bull they got going …seems like instructors are more interested in eating and being googley eyes …when I had question ..never found the instructor around….I would never go back …unless of course I have to finish what I started but if I can transfer ..I will definitely do that…. The eagle pass campus has professors that discourage students. They have professors that show up late or always cancel class, they don't properly lecture and are only there to collect a paycheck. This campus seems more invested in wanting to get paid and not helping students or providing the quality education that the students need.cynthia flores

Service was great, but not happy that my cleaning is taking up 2 half days. Dont understand how we use to go & get a cleaning within a 4 hour period & now it's taking 8 hours to do. Looking forward to transferring in a few months so I don't have to deal with the archaic practices at AC. I had the absolute worst time trying to register for summer 2019. I called the Office of Student Success trying to reach my "coach" (J.M.) 5 times and sent him 3 emails over a 3 day period with zero response from him. I finally had better luck contacting a faculty advisor. I've liked all the professors I've had thus far but that isn't enough to keep me here. I've taken all I can do online here so I am transferring to a school where I can finish my degree online (TJC). The only thing that has kept me here this long is the tuition is cheap.Amy B.

AC is a small community college but you can complete all of your core classes here. Tuition is about the same as other community colleges in Texas. Everyone I have dealt with here has been friendly, courteous, and eager to help. Also, they have dorms on site to house out of town students and a theater that almost always has some type of performance going on.Jason Kitchens

I'll preface this with that the only reason this school is getting 2 stars is because staff has actually been helpful when I have reached out to try and fix things. But when I tell you EVERY step of this process has been an absolute nightmare I am not exaggerating. I am a TWU graduate and needed a quick summer class to take because i got a conditional acceptance to a graduate school. This is time sensitive. So, long story short every single step had some issue that took multiple phone calls and people to fix. The biggest issue was me paying for an official transcript, seeing that on the tracking information brookhaven had received the transcript, and days later having the transcript STILL not put into the system which kept me from registering for the class that my entire future quite literally depended on me taking. Because of the bad timing of spring break I had to register late and it took an hour in person of me and the wonderful admissions worker figuring it out because no one we needed to contact was actually on campus. Although she was incredibly helpful, it was obvious the entire set up was frustrating for her too. The website is outdated and confusing and I get endless errors- i couldn't even pay without there being an error. Christi Carter is an awful person who sees students making mistakes during class and says NOTHING, then cheats during the "random body part selection process for competicy testing" and gives you the one body part she saw you making a mistake on but said nothing during class so she can kick you out of the program. Absolute zero compassion for students and their education. Luckily I've graduated Radiology at a different college dispite her being an absolute awful teacher. How someone can be so curropt and unfair became director of the program is beyond me.__

I was at this campus just to get my Student ID this week. Everyone I encountered was kind and helpful from the security desk attendant to the staff in Student Services. When I was looking at one of the outside campus maps to find my way a staff member came up and assisted me with the directions to where I needed to go. Reading the other reviews here, I see others have had problems with admissions and financial aid – I think all universities have lots of complicated paperwork in regards to those areas, so patience is necessary.Curtis Johnson

I attended this schools OTA program and I can guarantee you will not get a better education anywhere else. The crew there prepare you so well for the field. As for the school, it's amazing. Hit by a tornado and it didnt affect the students learning experience. Covid hit and they already had a plan set to make sure no one got pushed back. The cons are small and understandable. Financial aid sometimes forgets to send you the email to renew so just keep up with it yourself. And some other enrollment/payment procedures are a bit lax to where you need to keep up with them. But they deal with the whole school so it's understandable that a few slip through. Definitely take a tour and see if this schools for you. They have a variety of professions you can go into. The schools been updated since the tornado and it looks immaculate, they really did a good job of fixing and upgrading the facility at the same time.Cjloha

I was kinda rushed into starting and didn't realize the online-only curriculum was going to involve soooooo much writing and citing and having to include references in 4 weeks. For each course there is so much emphasis put on research for writing essays and 1-6 page papers that there is less time to actually read all the text and retain/comprehend what you're studying. The essays aren't too bad, but then you have to come up with creative ways to respond to 2 or more of your peers explaining why you agree or disagree with what they each posted. What ever happened to reading the text and studying, listening to a lecture or two and then working on an assignment or a test? It my just be the 4 week time period, with new assignments and discussions due each week, that gets me frazzled. I may have to switch to hybrid or in person learning soon.Newest Times

The school does not give you enough information prior to getting into the program. They charge you stupid fees which do not sense and go as far as increasing already high school fees. How do you charge online students technology fees for using the school's blackboard to complete assignments on top of $660 per credit. They tell you at the last minute you have a balance to pay. Very poor communication on all levels. The director of my program is the only reason I am graduating from this school. I will never refer anyone here again. Not now not ever. This school is a waste. This school is literally the worst, they take all day in the advising office and registration office. They will have one or two people helping more than 20 people and you would think that would make them have a sense of urgency but they do not. They all act as if they don’t feel like helping you and move so damn slow. I received 2 parking tickets during the time I have attended this school because two hours in a meter is not even enough. The best advisor is Shannon, the rest of them act like they don’t care and will not give you any guidance when your new to college, some will over talk you and not even pay attention or listen to what you are saying to them. This school will literally make you not want to attend college at all with how difficult they make the process. I am here at the college registering for my classes for the fall and have been here since 1:00 it is now 4:00pm smdh. If you plan on coming here make sure you have a whole day to spend here!!!! I was suppose to be taking classes here last year but wasn't able to log in. I had a meeting and asked for help and she said she couldn't help me for some reason…I ended up texting & emailing people for help but they eighter didn't reply or said they were going to help me but then ended up not communicating back. I managed to call tec support and they said website was down. Few days later they called me & said they were going to put me on a list and since then I haven't heard anything. I feel like putting a bad review I’m currently trying to see a councilor here at El Centro I came Thursday before 5pm and they told me it was closed but on the website they close at 5pm. Come to find out today a staff member told me they closed an hour early because they were having a spring break party. Today I’m trying to speak to an advisor I’m the only one here sitting in the lobby still waiting for someone to help me. I used to love this school but honestly service has gone down the drain. After I changed my major, I'm constantly getting emails saying I need to complete my Pre Business requirement even when after I kindly messaged them that I was no longer in the CoB, they refused to remove me from the list because it didn't show in their system that I was I another college at UNT.Joseph Shortino

Great place to explore the intricacies of Pokémon Go. There are giant prairie dogs that pop up from the sewer and steal your organs and sell them on the dark web. It’s not so much a college of music, but more a tepid wasteland of forgotten dreams. It is really difficult to get fresh seafood in this area so get ready to fill the void in your life with permanent markers and silver spray paint. You will succeed here if you have the passion and drive to crush others in your path. The bathrooms smell like an aging pirate with leprosy. Awful. Only good thing are the nurses who have always been so sweet. But every single time I’ve been here, the PA and doctors themselves have been extremely horrible and dismissive. I’m chronically ill. I do not go into the emergency room until something is extremely wrong. But each and every time I get a doctor who is extremely dismissive, condescending and even when the entire place is empty, acts like he can’t even spare a second. I was having an allergic reaction and I could not breathe properly. I felt like I was being strangled. I could hardly talk. My face was swelling and I was extremely itchy. My heart rate was also extremely high. Had this issue once before, an allergic reaction to a food item, was given epinephrine and was fine. The doctor decided without even listening to my history that it was all in my head and I was making it up. How do I make up swelling and rashes? He decided he was just going to give me a steroid injection and send me home. I had a horrible reaction to a steroid, face swelling, crazy rash all over the body, itching everywhere, and they sent me home and the doctor refused to even come look at it. I went home feeling way worse than when I got there. He refused to even get my list of medication that I’m on (which after leaving I looked up the medication he gave me and it strongly interacts with more than one of my medications). I still couldn’t breathe and I was even more swollen and had an insane rash all over my body. On top of this my discharge paperwork didn’t even state the medication I was given, nor that I had a severe reaction to it. So I left sobbing, with no help, still unable to properly breathe. The nurse had to run back and forth with the doctor as he refused to come in to my room. Absolutely unacceptable. It’s fine. I’ll be reporting to the licensing board anyways as this kind of dismissive care and lack of treatment is not only unethical but dangerous.Trish Pizzica

The Emergency Department was moderately busy when I arrived. I was sent there by my doctor directly from the Surgery Center due to an adverse event of possible aspiration pneumonia during surgery. The personnel at the desk were somewhat dismissive and indifferent. Being in the ER was frustrating. I felt like no one was really listening to me. When I was finally admitted for observation because they determined I had aspiration pneumonia, the attitude of the staff in the actual hospital was like night and day. Almost all the nurses I had in the five days I was there were great. They were very helpful, kind, and engaged. The first doctor in charge of my case was nice but didn't seem to know much about my case. He asked me on two different days if I was on oxygen at home, which was an ill-informed question, considering I was in the hospital for acute aspiration pneumonia so I would not have been on oxygen prior. I was told by him I would be going home on Thursday if all stayed the same overnight. Unfortunately, he didn't even come by to see me on Thursday, and evidently didn't give any orders for me to go home. I believe I stayed there one day longer than I needed to and was therefore charged for everything involved in that extra day. I also got conflicting information from the two doctors about when I should follow up with my primary care doctor. One said two weeks, but my discharge papers said to make an appointment as soon as possible. The experience wasn't bad all in all, but the coordination of care could have been better.Michelle Terrell

Back in June I nearly died one morning after suffering multiple strokes and a heart attack mysteriously from blood clots. I’m young and had no history of such issues. I worked two jobs seven days a week and was quite physically active. At this hospital in Denton I met and received medical care from some awesome people. It was such a refreshing difference to encounter medical professionals who truly cared. I regret not getting the name of an awesome nurse upstairs who was of great assistance to me at such a difficult time in life. The medication and pains in my body made it difficult to think clearly at times. She was one of several nurses and others who did their best to help me. I appreciate them so much. It touched my heart to hear and see how nurses and others responded when they knew I’d be leaving the hospital soon. Maybe I touched their hearts as well. Hello, my name is Tammie Tarpley Harris. I graduated in March of 2022 with my first degree in the HMAS program at 54 years old! CHCP has made this life changing dream come true for me. The cost and short time to complete the program really helped me to decide that this was the right step and time for me to do something for myself. The admission staff was really professional and efficient with every step of enrollment as well. I remember being so nervous that I would fail on my first day but Mrs Anderson, my first instructor really assured me that I would be just fine! All of the instructors are really hands on, even online! They are concerned for your future and making sure that you have the support and tools to get you there! I have enjoyed learning in a fast-paced setting throughout the past few months that I have been enrolled in the program to become a medical assistant. For the past week, Ms. Marshall, my previous teacher, has been very supportive and understanding of both my learning and myself. I'm currently enrolled in Ms. Morehead's class, and on my first day, I have injected Ms. Morehead with saline as a form of vaccine. I'm currently having one of the worst experiences ever! I was completely unaware of being enrolled in online classes once the pandemic started. I never spoke with anyone or confirmed this was ok. I specifically chose on campus classes due my struggle with specific subjects. I was unaware until an instructor contacted me. I emailed advising and was removed from the class I was still charged and a hold was put on my account. I have never talked to or discussed classes with anyone for the fall and i am also scheduled and charged for those classes as well. Now i'm told i have to file an appeal to try to have the balance and the hold removed and i cant remove the fall classes until the balance is cleared. Every time I speak with anyone i'm forwarded to someone or a dept. that cant help or explain!Christi Chavis

While I'd love to give a better review, I have to be honest. If you are utilizing veteran services, prepare for a ridiculous amount of wait time. There's never anyone online via chat and when you call if someone answers, it becomes a series of transference to different people or "I'll have someone contact you." This poses an issue as a current student attempting to be successful in class. I am finding it impossible to get a return address for a delivery I received containing 2 bottles of your CBD oil and 2 packets of the CBD gummy bears which was delivered to me by Hermes. I initially wanted to cancel the order but was informed that I could not. I did not realise the total price of these items and then my shock at finding out I was calling USA as I am in Scotland UK. Not only have I been charged over £150 Sterling but then I will be billed for the call to the US which was about 20minutes long. Please advisePat Macpherson

The process overall was well handled. If you want to know what you are paying this is the way to go. The suprise billing for other than the doctor was my reason for using assist. The entire health care industry does not allow for budgeting for this type of thing. So far so good. And assist does a great job of updates throughout the process. When my insurance would not cover the cost of an MRI without waiting 6 weeks i asked how much it would cost me out of pocket it was $1,900. So i started calling around and found that most imaging places would not give me a cash price. I found this website and gave it a shot. It found dozens of cheaper options for the same imaging and i picked a place just 10min from my house for $750 though a place 2 hours from me was $550 i figured it was worth the $200 not to drive all that way. i did call the near by place and found it would cost me $800 to book the same appointment directly. But why bother when this service makes it easier to find, navigate the paperwork, and resolve billing. Plus, its significantly better than having it done at the medical practice charging $1,900. I paid the $750 and got the MRI without any complications. The facility they found was fantastic as well. All around a good experience and without doubt the most economical option. I needed a diagnostic test done, with my insurance it was going to be around 300$; knowing that flat rate can be cheaper because the offices do not have to call the insurance to verify I did a google search and found this company. On their site they give you the cost of the procedure at different locations near you (which in my case was less than half price at 136$). The only down side is that they require you to pay within 24-48 hours of them booking the appointment even if the appointment is a week or so away. It was easy to change my appointment, because the earliest ones did not fit my schedule. No phone calls necessary, e-mail communication was very quick and efficient. They did a great job helping me get an MRI on my wrist at an affordable price. My insurance will not pay for an MRI until I meet my deductible, which is over $1000. Using Radiology Assist I was able to pay $188 in cash and not use my insurance. I did have to drive 93 miles, but it was still a substantial savings-even with gas over $4! Being told I needed to do a head and brain MRI scan and also, it being my first ever MRI, I was a little apprehensive to say at least. But after visiting Clear Choice Imaging, I can truly recommend this place. Not only is this place clean and aesthetically pleasing, but the people that work here are amazing. I called the various receptionists many times, and each time I called, they were kind and patience with my many questions. But the main reason for my easy and pleased experience was the MRI medical technician, Kevin. Not only was he a great medical professional that explained everything to me but he spoke to me like a friend, which calmed me down alot and prepared me for the MRI. If you're getting a MRI done, then I 100% recommend choosing this place, if not, at least check it out.S R

Showed up early to fill out paperwork (2:10) for a 2:30 appointment, had to ask at 2:40 what time I would go in they told me an extra 15minutes. I specifically called early and told them I had a meeting I had to make right after the MRI. Any heads up would have been great and I would have rescheduled my appointment but just sat here waiting till I questioned what was going on. Just thought it was extremely poor communication. On top of this they told me that it was an issue with the MRI machine that had to be restarted. When I went back the technician told me that the lady who just came out actually just came in late. I was very impressed with the staff at Clear Choice. Friendly, professional and most of all thorough. Shital is a caring technician and performed the routine mammogram screening. A ‘spot’ was discovered so I returned for an ultrasound. Crystal was a thorough technician. To verify her findings, she asked Dr. Bentley to step in to repeat the process. I’m a senior adult and have had many mammograms over the years and never has a doctor stepped in the room to double check the findings. I appreciated their diligence. Thankfully, there was no cause for alarm. Highly recommend!Linda Howard

At first I was loving this location. When I arrived I was told I needed to wear a mask. I informed them that I physically could not. They offered to let me speak with their Lead/Manager to see if we could do something. So I agreed and was fed a canned "our policy" line. Then I was actually asked WHY I couldn't wear a mask, so I disclosed my personal information to them thinking we would be able to proceed or figure out some accommodation. Nope. Apparently I was asked this personal information out of her own personal curiosity because she immediately went back to the "our policy" script. Completely discriminatory against those of us who cannot wear masks. I even asked if we could do a face shield instead as I know it will still negatively affect me, it would at least be something I can do and tolerate for the visit. Nope, no reasonable accommodation at all, they didn't even TRY to work with me to find a reasonable solution/compromise just the canned "our policy." Then to top it off, to "further look into MY issue", I was given a corporate number with no extension where nobody answers the phone. You can't hide behind policy to discriminate. It's not MY fault I can't wear a mask. Just like it's not a deaf person's fault they can't hear. Try enacting a policy that you can't be seen unless you can hear verbal instructions, and hiding behind the "our policy" line.Jeff

I’m always very hesitant to go to any urgent care unless absolutely necessary and last resort scenario due to past experiences! All I can say is this CareNow had Unbelievable Quality of Service! From the front desk representative (check in) all the way to medical professional staff! They were Very thorough and they actually listened to my symptoms! I was IN and OUT in 30 minutes start to finish! Super impressed by the efficiency in the office and at home care plan! They handled my pain immediately with two steroid injections and good medication that I needed to help with at home pain. I will be back with any future immediate issues! This is the best Care Now facility I've been to and I've visited several Care Now's throughout the years. The check in process was smooth and there was hardly a wait. I was placed in a room quickly and both the nurse and the Dr showed up quickly and were very attentive and caring. They listened to me and my complains about pain, I didn't feel rushed and they applied treatment that no other doctor would. After a couple of shots and a prescription, I walked away feeling hopeful that this pain will go away soon so I can enjoy my upcoming vacation. Thank you!Maru Iabichela

As I worked at Parkland Hospital 35 years and have unfortunately broken many bones and used many Orthopedists and Radiologists, I believe that I am a good judge of healthcare professionals. Southwest Diagnostic is the greatest example of a well managed medical operation. The front desk staff was professional, helpful and polite. The Radiology Technicians were very nice, especially Jerry. He was the one that kept me updated on the process. As one process finished, he informed me that the next test would take a certain amount of time, instead of just assuming I knew what was happening. I have never had an MRI, so it was really nice having a person inform me of the procedure. He is to be commended for his empathy and great professionalism!Lisa Little

Excellent diagnostic center for every type of testing imaginable. I have been going here for decades and had only the very best experiences each and every time. They operate in a very timely manner particularly if you have an appointment already made. This also applies to Walk In's as well. Friendly and efficient front desk employees, schedulers, and highly knowledgeable, experienced, helpful, and kind Imaging Technicians. Everyone I came in contact with was personable, friendly and helpful as well as professional. I was treated as a valued person and was informed of each step in the process of my procedure. At one point I had a bit of a dizzy spell and the gentleman who was assisting me made sure I was taken care of in a genuinely caring manner. I have been to SDI a number of times and every time I am impressed by the professional and caring atmosphere generated by the entire staff. My first visit was unexpectedly wonderful. I was seen by PA-C Carlotta Petersen. She discussed my issue with me and performed the exam. Afterwards, Dr Jose Reyna discussed my options with me. One thing that I really appreciated was that when I was told that I needed an MRI, Dr Reyna guided me in the right direction. My insurance would not pay for the MRI because I had not met the minimum out of pocket yet, which was $1750 per calendar year. I was able to get the MRI done for $275. Thank you, Dr Reyna. I did find it unusual that the PA- C did the examination and the Dr did nothing. But Carlotta was wonderful. It appears that she loves what she does and cares for the patient. The second appointment was different. I made my appointment on time. By the time I was seen, it had been 1 hour and 5 minutes later. I have a difficult time walking now with my situation. I had to use a wheelchair to get out of the car, to the office and back again. LOTS OF PAIN. I understand that issues arise in the real world, so I understand that long wait times can occur. If that was happening on a regular basis, I would say that there is a time management issue. But when I was seen by Carlotta, she made me feel good, explained everything to me and I felt very informed of my issue. Thank you, Carlotta, you are great. But I didn’t see the doctor. He was in surgery. Now here is where things went downhill fast. I am in a lot of pain. I can barely walk, and needed a wheelchair to get to the office. This means that I can’t work. My job requires me to A LOT OF WALKING AND CLIMBING. I stated this. If I don’t go back to work, I lose my job. I asked for a work release but was told to get it from my PCP. What???? I managed to get one, but for 7 days. Are you kidding me??? I can barely walk, I need injections first which means that I have to make another appointment, which will be who knows when, then recover from that to see IF they work. If so good. But that won’t get me back to working condition in 7 days!!!! I had to be very persistent to get the work release. That is uncalled for. Fortunately, I was working on a second opinion and the next day was my appointment. This time I was seen by a real doctor. He explained to me my situation and my options. He gave me a work release that will cover the time needed and will extend it if needed. It’s called FMLA. I am not looking to get free money or looking to get paid for not working. I want to work. I want a doctor who can see the situation and help me. I found one, and it is not with Texas Bone and Joint.Bob Boyd

Very very wonderful experience considering the pain I was experiencing.. Soon as enter you are pleasantly greeted, then nurse assistant takes you vitals ,,why the reason for this visit and health history. X-rays taken as needed. Then, Nurse Ashley discusses what the X-rays indicates. Explain in detail and in a way totally understand what is the issue.. She then offered up a plan to move forward. Deciding if a surgery will be necessary. Set up a appointment with specialists to further make this determination. Great over all experience. Very professionalTony Devin

Once I got into this place everything as far being in the waiting room to leaving all was wonderful. Didn’t have to wait too long to see doctor then Dr. Rena and Carlotta both are awesome at listening and explaining everything giving me options and getting to the bottom of it all and even referred me to some of the best places for further help so thankful and Blessed to receive actual TLC from doctors who seem to really care.
