I did an English course during the summer at KSU. The university is awesome. The campus is green and with many places to walk. The facilities at residences, dining rooms, sports center and classrooms are modern. The professors and staff are very attentive and service-minded. I have been in this student center many times and it has many positive elements as well as some areas for improvement. On the positive side, it is generally clean and comfortable. It has a variety of dining venues, and the one that is a hidden gem is in the basement by the bowling alley. The building probably has many additions and so it is a bit of a challenge sometimes to navigate through it and between floors. Fortunately, I am not disabled. It's important to note that the building is open to the public and there is no charge for admission; so, wishing for improvements without having to pay for them directly is myopic at best.Rob Catlett

Call me biased or whatever. Once a shocker always a shocker. The Rhatigan center of the past has been completely renovated and meets all modern college campus food/recreation checklist. Love the way our merchant store shows off the goodies and hoodies. More diverse and muti cuisine food places for students to try out. More seating and clever use of spaces to showcase art in the center. Love every aspect of this lovely students hangout spot. Don't forgot to try the bowling alley in the ground floor. Always a good place to buy food, coffee, eat, study, hangout, get some general info about WSU, buy books or anything else from the book store, have your union/club meetings, borrow equipment for events, get printouts, hold events, play games at the shocker sports grill, or just sit somewhere and rea a book, listen to your music, watch a movie or to even take . This place is horrible. Dr. Sweets staff is the rudest people I have ever came across. They ignore symptoms, mess up every scrip you have. They spend more time looking busy that it would be to actually do the work. If you need an hiv provider then I suggest you move near a better provider.K J

I worked with Mariam Jenson in a school setting. She was a therapist for several of my students with social emotional needs. Her therapy environment is warm and inviting. The office is filled with activities that are pleasing to every child. My students would go to see Mariam in a heightened state of emotions and return to the classroom renewed and calm. My favorite thing about Mariam is that she is willing to meet her clients where they are physically and mentally at the time. She is soft spoken snd calm and invites them into her space. When one is nervous or afraid she will get down beside them and wait in the hall or wherever they are comfortable. She is so very patient and loving. I will say that every student of mine benefitted greatly from therapy with Mariam. If you're looking for a college unlike the rest, thinking its solidarity and religious background will be a place of refuge in a time of need, look elsewhere. Although initially its people preach forgiveness and love like every other religious school, the judgment hammer that reins down during your time of need is unlike any other. Perhaps it was only my expierience. I am not so ignorant enough to ignore the possibility that my experience could be the exception… but I do believe their actions during my personal conflict added with my collective time at the college were evidence enough to prove their true intentions. My advice is that if you, like myself, were raised in an absusive home and in your teenage years need guidance and forgiveness, do not rely on a school like this to get you through. Although many individuals were willing to do what they could to help a troubled young me, the school itself was looking for well off religious young people to make their small town look good and wholesome. I was not that, so I was cast aside. They kicked me out in my time of need. They had no idea how deeply depressed I was, but they didn't care because all they saw was inconvenience. I only wish that Barclay College would have been more honest with their intentions. You aren't here to help troubled young people, you are here to collect the innocent goody two shoes who follow blindly. Those who were raised in solid homes with no real idea of what suffering means and praise Jesus till the day is long because Lord knows your leave-it-to-beaver life is all because of him. I don’t honestly know why this college still runs. It’s the exact opposite of what you’d expect of a Christian school. When I got on the plane to Kansas I was happy and my family + friends here in Maine were sad I left. I got there, people isolate people. If you’re not Christian enough there not welcoming or open to be your friends. I had a had a therapist when I lived in Kansas and I’m still paying for the meetings we had. If you’re not from a small town or country side, if you’re not a person who likes feeling out of place don’t go to Barclay. Barclay College offers an incredible community of believers and a long history of graduates who have had their lives transformed. I can personally say, through four years of education, I was encouraged and challenged to grow in my faith and saw the same journey play out for so many other students. Some of my Barclay friends are now pastors, youth pastors, missionaries, teachers, nurses, and more. If you want to have a career in science don’t go to emporia state university. Let me clarify. There is no issue with the education or the professor. The issue is the school not caring about the science department. The physical science hall is old, moldy, always hot, and smells. The fact we don’t have a dedicated sewage system for chemistry labs is ridiculous. The labs are flooded because there is no drainage in the lab. When the lab is not flooded it’s hot.Lucky Panda

It is a ranked 4 University in Kansas State. The environment is calm and cool. Diversity is the main feature here. Its quite popular in this area and the cost is also a bit lower than any other University in Kansas. People visits it often. Its business school is awesome and ACCSB accredited. This used to be a good, affordable university but they've recently fired 33 experienced and valuable professors due to politically motivated ideological differences. Academic freedom is no longer a priority at ESU and the students will likely go somewhere else in the coming years. ESU as a credible university in Kansas is no more and it'll eventually be an empty, dead campus. Sad3 P

I provide housing exclusively to male students attending here and have been blessed with having students from all areas of study live at my home. Over the years, if there has ever been a problem that a student brings to me regarding the school, I would suggest to the student to address the problem to the appropriate professor or adviser/counselor and have always observed the outcome to be handled professionally and to the student's satisfaction. Additionally, this college strives to provide academic excellence as well as providing extensive financial assistance to deserving students. Butler has endless life enhancing programs! Coming here to this school has been life-changing for me! No place has perfect staff, but almost every instructor and administrator I have encountered has been passionate about their job and helping students. I have been here for a year and a half and am sad that my Butler clock is ticking. I will forever hold onto my memories here. They are always looking for ways to grow and be better for the students. Additionally, it is extremely affordable and there is financial assistance everywhere you look. The English 102 Professor on this campus (Victor Chavez) really sucks! I hate to say this but it is the truth. He waited until the last day to grade our assignments, and he did not have enough time to grade our works. I can tell he just randomly pick up some paragraphs to correct our errors because after I read his comments and re-read my paper, I noticed some errors that I made and he did not point out. It IS very obvious errors such as putting "the i" next to each other, which does not even make sense. I would not recommend taking his class AT ALL! VERY SLOW on grading so you do not know your grades until (if you're lucky) the day before the end of the class. I don't know what kind of professor they still have to offer. Out of 10 online classes I've taken, 8 graded slow. Awfully slow.Jennifer Ma

After getting my Master Degree from this school, they told me that they could not put my email account in dormant state. My identity got stolen and I think someone has access to this email along with personal and valuable information. This school has some people in the IT department that needs to takes matters seriously. Please think twice or more before applying to this school. Plus this school is in the middle of nowhere. It's impossible for a campus police officer to ask you to do something, even as simple as asking you to move your car, without him needlessly shouting at you about it and acting like he's about to punch you. I appreciate the police and all they do to keep us safe, but some of these campus police think they're Captain America trying to take down Nazis, ISIS and North Korea by giving you a ticket you can't afford because you did the unthinkable parked your car facing outwards which is only a crime within fhsu and nowhere else on Earth.Brandon Schmidt

My son and I met the football coaching staff this weekend along with a tour of the campus. They went out of their way to make us feel at home and that was the first thing my son said on the way home, that going to college more than 5 hours from home wouldn't be unsettling for him because he felt so at ease. If you are looking for an online MBA program with helpful instructors and where information is taught in an understandable way, then this is not the program for you. If you would like to enroll in a program that increases your blood pressure, causes headaches, exhaustion, and kills your motivation and love of school totally, then this is DEFINITELY the program for you. I love this place, I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. Its a beautiful campus – everyone who visits, including local and regional sports teams, can't stop talking about how pretty it is. Especially in the spring and the fall – its a must see. There are several look out locations on campus behind the Abbey buildings which you can look out over the Missouri River – being on top of a mountain, its a darn cool view. For the most part, the staff are kind, engaging and just all around great people to be surrounded by. The community life brought by the students from all walks of life (I am from Virginia but I know people from Florida, California, etc) is authentic. Most people, if you asked them what their favorite thing about the college is, would say that it is the people/community. Everyone is friendly and truly cares about one another. Here you can find true friendship while getting a great, engaging education – I am currently seeking a degree in Theology & Evangelization Catechesis, and I love the professors so far. Even if this place isn't at the top of your radar, or the location seems bizarre (before coming here, I didn't even really know where Kansas was), give it a try – whether or not you decide to attend, you won't regret it.Ryan Orr

The visit was personalized, well organized and the admission personnel was very friendly and informative. The guide was an upcoming senior. She was able to give us good information about campus life. I recently graduated from Midwestern State University with my bachelor's in radiologic sciences! I am from California, and made the trip to Wichita Falls, TX to attend my ceremony at the Kay Yaeger coliseum. This campus is absolutely darling in person. Everyone is so friendly, and the story behind the mustang statues is one you need to hear during your senior walk! Thank you to all the staff who helped me reach this important milestone in my life! I managed to get promoted to a leadership position 7 months prior to graduation, and am taking everything I have learned here, to become a better technologist and a better human being. The Education Department needs to do something about Ally Solete’s bullying. She has had a multitude of complaints sent in by various students. She wreaks havoc on her peers in and out of the classroom, and even off campus. For a department that cultivates the future of education, I would think they would take extreme bullying cases seriously. My daughter has decided to attend this beautiful and peacful school. Not only where we provided with an amazing tour but everything was presented very nice. I wish I would have gone somewhere else. It's an overly-priced high school. I was a music education major and attended for four semesters (two years). Tuition is cheaper than most private universities, but the education does not live up to the price. Teachers are too involved with your private life (at least in the fine arts department). The school has no money which is one of the reasons they hired the new president of the school. They increase tuition by about $500-600 every year. Keep in mind that this is a private Christian school, so you will have to take extra religion classes in addition to your general and degree-related classes. Many teachers were fired during my short time attending Friends because the school didn't have the money to pay them. Don't go here just because it looks nice or is a Christian school. Unless you are a Spanish or Zoo Science major, you will receive a far better education choosing a different university. The debt is not worth it.Cassidy Sutton

Unless your career absolutely requires a degree or you feel the need to go into higher academia don't play the college debt game. There are other places in Wichita to get a degree and not be in a mountain of debt. I assure you that the quality is also about the same. As a Central alumnus, I could talk about the school and my experience forever. I highly encourage you to take the time to visit and speak with the students and staff. Central isn't for everyone, but it is for students who have a desire to have a personal relationship with Jesus in an academic setting that will test you not only in the classroom but in your everyday life. The school is still working on program diversity, so there are not a lot of majors to choose from. However, Central does have strong education, contemporary Christian music, business, and psychology programs that work well with students from all backgrounds. Central is a heavily athletic orented school that takes pride in the accomplishments of their student-athletes. Home games create a wonderful atmosphere to be a part of. Also, small settings mean you sit next to the women's soccer goalie in your CCW class and the men's basketball point guard in chapel. The coaches are wonderful to be around and can be found at all athletic activities. Central's Fine Arts department is by far one of the best kept secrets in town! From the theater productions to the Jazz concerts, the level of talent and creativity is amazing. I think that my favorite part of the arts program are the bands that lead worship in chapel. The bands help to create an atmosphere of worship and light to those who attend. Not to mention, you might hear one of your favorite songs on a day when you really need it. As I said before, Central isn't for everyone and they are extremely clear about their beliefs and the rules of the school. This is a PRIVATE CHRISTIAN institution. Do not be surprised if you get into trouble for breaking the rules…(firsthand experience). Not to say that they don't extend grace, just know what you are signing up for before you attend. You don't have to be a Christian or religious, you do however have to have respect for the guidelines that are set before you. As long as you do as you're asked and have a positive perspective I think that you will find that there are people who want to help you in everything that you do. You will meet people who have a terrible opinion and outlook on the school and the people who are associated with Central, but my biggest piece of advice would be to make up your own mind about Central. First and foremost; I’m not some angry dropout, I’m an Alumni. I will highlight on this post all of the issues I have regarding newman. First off, they’ve been sued around 5 times in the last several years, feel free to look up why. furthermore; Their tuition increased 3 times while I was there, they really exemplified what the word catholic means when they increased tuition $1,680 at the height of the pandemic when we switched to fully remote. I can’t imagine why considering teachers would be working far less but I digress. So what does your $16,280 a semester get you at Newman? I’m not too sure, they do not have a job placement program They require an internship for graduation but guess what? They do not coach you on what to do, how to apply, or who to apply too, they can’t even provide a list of firms which utilize newman interns. They very rarely, if it all have ANY job fairs. They over charge everyone yet give student athletes everything free including books, meals, clothes and lodging, while increasing costs on everyone else. You’d think if you’re paying prime money for “prime private” education you’d actually get that right? Wrong, all classes are practically graded online, and all homework is done online as well. Many classes are offered every other semester. If you’re like me, you had to wait ONE YEAR for the next cycle of classes I needed to be offered (sorry to any finance majors.) Hardly anything is offered over summer unless it’s a very basic gen ed. The last issue. I was told by their student accounts dept. to set up “X” amount as a payment plan which would cover all of my summer and last semester of fall classes. I did as they instructed. Then they followed up one month prior to graduation and told me that i actually owe an additional $4,280 and that they’re not sure how they told me incorrectly. Oh and I couldn’t check my balance to know this because they switched systems and didn’t include students who were slated to graduate. Intelligent. If you want my very honest opinion. Go to WSU it costs FAR LESS, the quality of education is FAR HIGHER, and you can take classes when you actually need and want to take them. Am i glad I have a degree? sure? However I will never donate a cent to Newman, I’ll suggest everyone I know avoid them, and if I could do it all over again I would’ve went to WSU.Levi Skelton

I can confirm what someone else said about the poor customer service from the staff – particularly when dealing with the business office. I had a bad experience in my dorm (mold), and after paying for a room change and medications upon medications during that time period, I spent over $600. I was not able to pay my tuition in time (I was paying out of pocket) but despite this they charged me interest twice. I was told that because of the date that it was too late to refund the interest charges. I loved that roundabout. I had proof from my doctor and receipts for medications, including allergy meds (before I realized I had a mold problem I thought it may have been severe allergies, though that wasn't it). The Payroll Administrator (Jeana Scott) was unbelievably rude and disregarded my situation as totally meaningless. She condescendingly responded to all my statements and questions, and I quickly realized that, no matter what the problem, that I would never return to the business office again.jari56ify

Great University and amazing people. At first I thought that it was not my place, but definitely the best choice I have ever made so far in my life. Faculty is amazing. They help you every time you need them and even if you do not need them they offer to help at any time. Staff is also amazing. My first semester was a little bit frustrating for me because my accent was very strong and it was hard to communicate others. They took the time to understand me and listen to me patiently. The student population is awesome because they are very social and want to do things all the time. Regarding the classes and academic level, I loved it. Classes are challenging but teachers help you any time you need. There are also tutors available in case you cannot meet with the teachers. Steer Clear! School president Jerry Farley has called the idea that boys and girls are different "hate speech." Do you really want to spend tens of thousands of dollars supporting an institution whose leaders cower to pop culture trends to the point of not just ignoring biological science, but labeling anyone proposing a scientific viewpoint "hateful?" I've attended several colleges in the past, but Washburn is definitely my favorite of the bunch. Washburn University's staff are eager to help new students and my enrollment process was completed in a matter of days. The campus grounds are always well-kept and free of trash. There are many beautiful areas to sit and chat with friends, great recreation services, and wonderful student activities. Washburn's Mabee Library is an excellent place to grab a cup of coffee and host a study session with your classmates. Even though COVID had everything closed we still got to see a lot of the area while sightseeing. The dormitories are quite cramped however, and I couldn't see myself living in those quarters.
