I had to come here on the Transit, to get to Wal-Mart, thus waiting for 02 hours to get to there and back to Grundy; yes, in Buchanan County. If i could legit give ZERO STARS, I would. This is NOT… I repeat NOT a good school. If you are design/business major the staff do NOT work with you and the accommodations are a joke. You have to re-do them all again next semester. Secondly… the RA's #do not do their job. We had a huge issue in our dorm building and restrictions had been in place for the people who were causing the issues not to come back into the building. The RA's allowed them back into the building, saying they were… "Safe" to be in the building. The building muse is even WORSE. the staff there don't take care of all the fights and drug use that happens there. Two of my friends were sexually assaulted in that building and left Radford because of it. I can't speak for other dormatories, but Muse and Trinkle are NO GO'S. People are very rude and try to start drama with you and also… if you do come to this school, please PLEASE lock your bedroom doors…. people like to steal! Also the graduate teachers are the WORST. I've had a few, all if whom didn't like their students. They're mucj younger teachers, fyi. I only have one grad student professor who is a decent human being. Also people here are really racist. There's so much racism and fights here, it's insane. It's better to pick another school if possible, Especially when it comes to safety. The staff do NOT care about your safetyM B

Radford University is a great place to go to college for someone that is looking for a great education, great facilities, an exciting campus life, and a friendly and united community. As an international student I've had a great experience in my two years that I've been studying at Radford. The faculty is great, well knowledgeable in their subjects, and are always willing to help you, the student life on and off campus is fun, the smaller class sizes enable you to learn better and enable you to get to know your professors, the campus is beautiful, the facilities are mostly modern and well equipped. The university is constantly investing and working in improving the quality of education, the competitiveness of the school, and resources that we have, and it is clearly getting better every time. This school is truly a fraud! They are claiming to support the military and Join the Yellow Ribbon Program to get the recognition but the actual support is not even pennies against this multi-million dollar school. This program was built to assist in financially supporting Military and Family Members to attend schools out-of-state and abroad at a rate comparable, if not equal, to in-state students and help overcome the hardships of military families constantly moving in support of our nations freedom. It is a joke they are calling themselves Yellow Ribbon Program members; offering a measly $1000 against a $25,000 annual out-of-state tuition difference. Then to offer it to only 2 undergraduates and 2 graduates in a school of over 10,000!!….Really? I can get a better military discount at Waffle House! Where should I begin? The people in the financial aid office are rude! I had trouble going to school continuously because I had problems with money. I was independent at 19 years old but they offered no suggestions on what to do to prove that I was independent. They were condescending, and cut me off while I was talking. It took me 5 years to get a 2 year degree because of this. The sad this is that I was a good student with a 4.0 GPA. What also contributed to taking so long in getting my degree was the advisers! They are such jokes! I was told in spring of 2013 that if I took one more class in the summer and applied for summer graduation I could get my degree. I got my adviser to sign off on it and applied for graduation – but AFTER THE SUMMER – I was told that there was another class I needed to take. Apparently something had changed in the 5 years while I was there and I had to take a class I didn't know about. The bottom line is: this is a community college and it has a bunch of jokes for employees!SAM LOTS

This college DOES NOT follow the ADA (American with Disabilities Act) of 1990. They're instructors did, knowingly, and purposefully deny reasonable accommodation's (approved accommodations) to a person with a known disability and said person had a disability accommodation on file with the Virginia Community College system and individual school. The instructor even mocked the person with said disability during email communications, the student advisor(s) would not assist with the situation. Then as a direct result of this discriminatory & unlawful behavior, the student failed the class and the college wants reimbursed, now in collections. AUGUST 1 2022: Spoke with an alleged dean, said she doesn't interrupt the law like I do when it comes to reasonable accommodations, i.e. turning in work late due to SERVICE CONNECTED CONDITIONS! My brother goes to this school and each time I've gone down to visit the people are pretty friendly. They are very sports oriented and you're part of a community family if you live down here. The majority of the city goes to this college so if you know people at the college, you practically know everyone in the city. Very nice community gym next door as well. Review Summary

Up until this point it has been a few small hurdles that have been resolved fairly quickly and would leave my rating at a 4 star rating. However, this previous semester has been nothing but a nightmare when it comes to the bookstore and financial aid. The bookstore website offers laptop computers. So I attempted to order one using my financial aid. The order was cancelled and I had to visit the bookstore, which turned into having to get some kind of voucher to use my own financial aid for a computer. After some back and forth about not supposed to have been awarded a voucher in the first place, they accommodated the voucher to get me my laptop. After getting all that squared away, I checked back in to make sure my financial aid had covered my books, the laptop, and my classes. To which I was told it did. Or as of today, it was supposed to be any way. I went to schedule my classes and was met with a wonderful message online that my account is on a hold due to bookstore charges that I already have a receipt from in August (Almost 2000 dollars with the laptop). Almost 4 months later and something that was taken care of is now suddenly still a problem. As of right now it's being looked into by a financial aid office worker that has been very helpful through all of this but my review will still stand until this is rectified. Also I will no longer be using the bookstore because the risk of getting anything through financial aid there just isnt worth it. I am a current student, most professors are great. But without fail every semester I have issues with financial aid. They took my pell grant back out of my account the last week of school even though I’m taking enough credits and my classes qualify. I now owe over $700 out of pocket that I don’t have. They took my sub/unsub loans away ( again, I qualified for these) and I had to call 9+times and send multiple emails to get them restored. It’s the last week of the semester and they still haven’t been disbursed to my account. I’m an all A student. I’m pretty sure I spend more time dealing with Financial aid mishaps than I do on schoolwork. Sad. I have also enrolled in a class in a previous semester that was canceled by the school. Highly inconvenient. UPDATE: The Director of Financial Aid was able to look at my account and fix both my Pell Grant and student loans! I just have to wait for the next dispersment period. I guess we’ll see if it happens. Changed score from 1 star to 2 stars. UPDATE: They reissued my pell grant, but the semester had ended and they still have not issued my sub/unsub loans.Megan Ellis

It's a good college at a fair location. Keep in mind that this is a community college and not a four year college. It isn't going to carry the same weight as a true four year college, both with the degrees that it provides and the teaching level administered. The college is clean enough and they are doing some work to being up some of the buildings more to standard. The Midlothian campus is better, but this one presents a prime location being directly off the highway. They have several computer labs and every teacher I've had has been fair and engaged with students to an acceptable degree (academically). The VA expert nice woman who knows her job well. As a veteran she helped me and my roommate out greatly with setting up the GI Bill and she did all our paperwork quickly and efficiently.Steven N

They have changed from when I first graduated high school but the headaches are still there. Advisors sometimes are confused themselves and aren't of much help. Financial aid is best to deal with in person. Campus is closed together and easy to walk around. Professors are some good and some not. Bathrooms are always clean and that's a good thing. There's a lack of information for clubs, programs and such. They have a catalog of jobs and careers but they don't offer half the classes. Classes fill in quickly and sometimes you can't find one of the ones you need for your program. Review Summary

The most unorganized, unprofessional, "learning institution" I have ever come across. There are a FEW instructors within the nursing program that really have a passion for teaching nursing students, but the rest, this is merely a second source of income for them. It is very rare that you'll receive an email back in regards to an issue you have and if you do happen to get an email back it's most likely going to be at least a week later. While the school may be accredited to be a learning institution, the nursing program is NOT accredited. Save your time and money. It's enticing because of the shorter amount of time it will take to receive your ADN, but it is not worth the headache nor the amount of money they charge. If you can swing it, go to another institution that will provide you with QUALITY education, even if that means it takes a little longer. I promise you will wish you would have done that in the beginning if you choose to attend this school. Pay attention to the negative reviews on this school – they speak truth.Nani Neamiah

I have completed my A.S. Degree in EMS and have had the most professional experience I’ve experienced. My classes were online and the professors were beyond helpful in class. Krystal Zimbaldi was a key component in my success with HCI. She has made my college experience amazing and has been by my side throughout the whole process. From the first day I called to join HCI to complete my degree, she has been the point of contact for all my questions and concerns. The fact that she constantly checks up on students to make sure they are updated with information and to see how their college experience is going is an amazing trait to have. What should have been a one hour appointment took 3 hours. There were hardly any people waiting in the occupational health area but a fairly straightforward physical involved about 2 hours of waiting for different things. I wish I could bill the time spent at my hourly rate for lost opportunity. That said, the actual services were great. The Dr and nurse staff were really good. Also, I think it's time we stop with the mask requirements and faux concern about the vax since it is ineffective and testing yields both false positive and false negative results.Jesse Phillips

would give zero stars if possible. They lost my wife's application for the nursing program after they conveniently got all our money for the pre classes. First they blamed my wife for not putting in her application, but then realized they misplaced it and their response was, "better luck next year." Another student in the class was denied for the nursing program after South university realized she was missing a pre req class that they forgot to put into her degree program! Their first priority is collecting your money. Its not a big deal to them if they screw up your program and you have to wait anther year to apply.Brandon Smith

I am currently a student here and if I could I would give it zero stars. The only reason why I am staying is because my teachers that I had on campus so far are fantastic. The admin side of this school is HORRIBLE! The lack of communication in the front office from registering for classes down to financial aid is a joke. I completed the accelerated 3 week EMT program at VMTA and what an experience it was! The primary instructor informed us on the first day that it’d be extremely rigorous and it was that and more! I suggest having support if you are a parent/spouse because studying, tests, and practicals will keep you very occupied. The instructors were great; they kept us engaged, offered a ton of knowledge, hands-on clinical in class as well as ride-alongs, and a lot of real life scenarios – not just text book/video/PowerPoint teaching. I enrolled in the phlebotomy class in September to October as a current CNA. I hate needles and I also was very curious to get my phlebotomy education. The process of enrolling is easy and quick, including a phone interview and coming in to sign papers and brining in your own paper work. You can pay in increments while going to school, so that was really nice. The class was about 13 of us, you are required to not miss more than 3 days to pass and that includes make up assignments. Within the second to third class we were all sticking each other and having a blast. Once you get your first tube of blood, you feel so wonderful and you just don’t want to stop. 95% of your work is online linked to your text book that’s provided. My instructor Mr. Mesa was nice and was very patient with all of us. Although I wish that we learned more and certain things we asked about he wasn’t to sure about them. This class is all about remembering your order of draw, understanding what additives are in what tubes, venipunture, capillary puncture, safety, patient identification, different equipment you’ll see, handing instructions and what type of tests go to what tubes. Overall, I can say I’m pleased with the training I received at TMT. Dr. Misa is a GEM! He makes class fun and interesting and lets us know just what to study for the exam. The financial process is straightforward and the payment plan ensures that you can make your payments in a timely manner. However, the externship portion of the class was less than enjoyable. Understandably, due to Covid, a lot of offices aren’t accepting students. However, we researched and found offices that accepted students for a project so there’s really no reason the school couldn’t utilize the practices we found to take students. Additionally, some of the students found the externship coordinator to be abrasive when it came to determining our clinical sites and had myself and another student had not contacted her 3 days before externships we’re due to begin, we would have been forgotten about. We ended up having to do our externships virtually. That’s why I knocked a star off my review. But if you have Mr. Misa as your instructor, you’re in good hands. I feel prepared and already have a job lined up 4 days after taking my exam and becoming certified.Maria Chowning

I'm very pleased with the educational experience I recieved at Tidewater Medical Training. The instructor and staff are professional, well versed, educated, courteous and approachable. Upon graduation I was confident that I would pass my State Boards and I did!!! The evaluators at Pearson Vue were kind, warm , professional and fair. Also, Tidewater Medical Training holds a job fair towards the completion of the course. Which is great because I already have a Nurse Aid position waiting for me. If you have a heart to help people like me and to be in the medical field. I would strongly encourage you to attend this school. You're not just a number here, the classes are small and you learn at a steady pace. In addition, the tuition is reasonable also. Just think…..it will only take you 6 weeks to complete the program and from there youre in demand because Nurse Aids are the backbones to the Nurses and Physicians! I served by Plaza 16 for two years. the folks I found down there are amazing, altruistic and good down to the bone. they worked all day long to pay their bills, then at night (6 pm to 6 am) they served 12 hours on a rescue vehicle, responding to calls in the dark of the night. they routinely left home daughters, wives, husbands to help someone they did not know, in the moment he needed them the most. brave, unselfish, loyal people. Over the years of furthering my education and degree this is the 3Rd college I've attended. Letterally the worst experience ever. They offer online evening classes yet I've never attended a live lecture. It's watch this video I saved or read this email and figure out the work you need to do. Litterally little to no student teacher interaction when doing online courses. Also I've done nothing but been enrolled in classes that weren't related to my degree and argue with people. No one here seems to know what they're doing. If you want to be treated like a number and not a person this is the place for you. It's just days from school starting and I still don't have the answers I need nor am I enrolled on the appropriate classes because someone messed up. You can call and no one is available and if you email it takes days for a response. The teachers are nice based on previous semesters however, they tend to let their personal life roll into their job which then effects your overall education. I'm hoping I get answers and the teachers this semester are better than last. I can't say I have intentions of attending this school next semester. I hope for the sakes of the people trying to better their lives this school gets their act together…..Matthew Smith
