4 Best Masters Programs In Los Angeles, CA (2022 Updated)

I went to a brick and mortar ABA law school. I moved back to LA after the first year and found my way to Taft. Taft is more difficult and more enlightening than the ABA school I went to. You really want to know the difference between Taft Law School and Harvard Law School? At Taft, you read your law book at home. At Harvard, you read the exact same law book, but you read it inside of a mahogany-walled library that looks like something out of Hogwarts. Oh, and you pay 4x the price to go to Harvard. Yeah, you got the degree from a prestigious school, but if you know how to practice, it doesn't matter where you went to law school. I went to Taft, and when it comes to motion practice – which is where the vast majority of "fighting" in the practice of law takes place – I regularly wipe my rear end with Ivy League attorneys. And not in little, meaningless cases. I'm talking big time class action regulatory cases. So for any of you out there who are afraid of going to online law school, don't be. If you have the will and discipline to learn, you will have success at Taft. Btw, you need to learn how to study independently for the bar exam anyway. So you might as well start learning how to do it in law school. Taft was great. They have my highest recommendation as a law school.Ralph Sasson

I was a third year transfer student and they were able to accommodate a serious surgery that I had and needed for a long time. I am grateful for the staff and wonderful individuals here. The program is of course tough, it’s law school. But they grade extremely fair and provide excellent support services. I graduated from Taft Law School in 2008 while teaching Criminal Justice courses in college. I became Administrative law Judge in 2011 with an impressive salary. Taft Law School mode of teaching will definitely prepare you in what area of legal practice you want to go into. My Wife goes here and it is possibly the most frustrating thing for me to watch… This school is honestly a huge scam. I really dont know how else to put it. They will charge you INSANE amounts of money for these classes (well over 200K for the Masters program after interest) and you "professors" are in the PHD program. what is that? I am not saying that they have some legit teachers and a few students teaching, I am saying that nearly ALL of the teachers are students. Let me be very clear about this, the teachers are HORRIBLE. The faculty is HORRIBLE. We just found out today that they didn't report to my Wife's FedLoan for our students loans that she was still enrolled and taking classes. What this means is, now FedLoans thinks that we are no longer in school, and that our loan is no longer differed. When she emailed the school faculty, they said this was HER responsibility…. are you kidding me? so we pay 60K per year before taxes for you to have students teach classes for $10 an hour… NOT submit proper paperwork to FedLoans and have absolutely zero leadership at the helm… When my Wife attended a "town hall" meeting with the Dean of the CA campuses, she asked when all of the grandiose things that were promised in admissions would be taking place… such as observation rooms on campus, real life experiences etc etc, and what did the Dean tell her? he said "if you would like to see these things happen, than you should initiate them yourself and start them up yourself"…. really? THAT is your answer to the student that is paying TOP dollar to go to this school? oh, and we just found out today thru some super vague email, that the Dean stepped down…. Please, trust this frustrated husband, DO NOT go to this school… I am a smart person… seriously TRUST ME…Adam

(UPDATED after completing doctoral coursework) My experience has been outstanding. This is a five-star institution, through and through. After completing my PhD coursework here, I can say this school really did deliver on promises and I feel lucky to have been part of this program. Our classes have top notch professionals from Southern California and various major US cities who fly in for the executive format, on-ground business psychology doctoral program. Faculty have been top caliber for the area, coming from academia and professional practice. I leave classes inspired and energized. I entered with my MBA and 10 years in my field. This is a program for people with work experience. It is not for folks who want school directly from undergrad with an internship, although they accommodate that with various master's programs. This program has been one of the strongest positive forces for me life. I matured so much, professionally and psychologically. If I could go back in time to choose where to do my doctoral coursework, or whether to pursue doctoral studies at all, I would stay at Chicago School in LA to do it all the same way. The big question for me was whether to focus on research or practice, since I already had work experience and could decide how big of a pivot the doctorate would be. Students from this program go into academia and industry. This school is really big on diversity, service, community, and academics. I went to a big school for undergraduate work. Between all the different departments, people, and majors, it was easy to lose myself. Chicago School is focused, so here, it was easy to find myself.Benjamin Theisen

Faculty members,at least most that I have met and had as professors, are educated, supportive, tense, and knowledgeable within their fields. Many of the professors own their private practices and work independently outside of the school. I applied to the adult studies program to finish up my bachelors degree in late 2010. This means I actually attended classes at a satellite campus, not the main campus in Azusa. The satellite facilities are excellent and your graduation ceremony is held at the same time as the convention students. This was a very touch, in that it facilitated family coming to see your college graduation. Although I only visited the main a few times, somehow they make you feel connected to the entire university. I was extremely pleased with the caliber of instruction that each instructor provided. Every aspect of this school is well managed and professional. I completed a bachelors degree Human Development and successfully transitioned into a teaching credentialing program at a state school. I read some reviews below giving the school one star…. the reasons should not be a surprise…. "they don't approve of same gender relationships", "they have strict rules"…. Well, yes, it is a Christian college and they CLEARLY point out what they believe and what they reinforce when going through the admissions process. In the end, this school is a great choice, if you are looking for a college that has very low teacher to student ratios, this is it. If you are looking for a school that is safe for you or child, this is it. If you are looking to complete your bachelors, but can't make it Azusa, look into one of their satellite campuses.Marcos Nunez

I honestly don't know what Azusa Pacific University staff members do all day. I wonder if APU staff work hard enough to earn their salaries. I am a current Azusa Pacific University student who was accepted for admission in the middle of June. I requested a transfer credit evaluation more than one month ago, but it took MORE THAN A MONTH for APU staff to begin my transfer credit evaluation. Their lame excuse is that they have not received a required form that must be submitted. APU staff did NOT inform me that my transfer credit evaluation was taking a long time because of a change in administration (a new dean). I am STRONGLY considering transferring to a different school, one in which I can receive PERSONALIZED ATTENTION. Zero stars for Azusa Pacific University staff!!!! I would have given this school a better review however the way they have handled covid has made me lose so much respect for this school. They have made the students lives a living hell, class is not only mandatory but your camera has to be on and if it’s not we don’t receive credit for class. If we have more than a certain amount of absences they take up to 3% off of our grade for every additional absence… ridiculous. Not to mention they raised tuition for students instead of giving us some of our money back because of the certain circumstances. They will find any way possible to charge you money. Beautiful campus with some amazing people working there and some even more awesome students. Such an underutilized outdoor space with fire pits, basketball courts, pool tables, ping pong tables and more! Beautiful scenery and great hangout/study spot too 😊 Also there is a great gym there 💪Bo Waltz

There was a dean from this school who went to my job, accusing us of trying to steal his cheap broken pos old phone, when on the contrary, we all had newer and better phones thanks his old cruddy one. So because of that, have a one star.Bad Drivers Of LA
