20 Best 2 Year Nursing Programs In Indianapolis, IN (2022 Updated)

Please do not attend this school for it's transition to teaching graduate program. The professors did not prepare for their classes and provided low quality education to the point that I could not justify continuing with this program after paying in over $4,000. When attempting to get them to appeal the final $800 for the semester I left the program they simply refused to give any leeway or acknowledge and error on their part and sent me collections with an additional $350 fee. With no recourse beyond their own appeals process that unsurprisingly found no problem on their end, all I can do is complain on their review boards. On the plus side, the do have a beautiful campus and I can not in anyway speak to the quality of their undergraduate program.Daniel Gore

While well established as a great Franciscan university, Marian remains up-and-coming in terms of their MAT program for teachers. I had a wonderful experience in terms of the contacts made and networks formed while attending. However, much remains to be done to increase the rigor and requirements for that particular degree. Still, Marian University will soon open the second medical school in the State of Indiana. They are also adding a seemingly much finer tuned doctoral education leadership program.Tim Lankford

Here visiting for a campus tour with my daughter. So far what we have seen is amazing. Marian University is a great place. The buildings are contemporary except for a few historical sites that were preserved. Other than that, it appears to be a great place. The people were friendly as we visited as well. Definitely live on campus if you are looking for the full college experience. I've lived here for 3 years as an undergraduate and the facilities are very nice and the people very helpful. It's easy to find a job through the university and the research opportunities in science blow many other universities out of the water. Scholarships are also abundant if you know where to look and ask around. Professors range from fantastic to poor like at any university. I believe there are over 300 organizations and clubs to get involved in and always neat things like movies playing, dances, carnivals, etc, you just have to know to look for them. The campus is beautiful, especially in the spring and summer when the fountain is going and everyone is lounging outside. IUPUI is what you make of it, and getting involved is the best way to experience it.Amber Goad

There is always an event happening somewhere on campus, so you are always having the college experience. I love IUPUI and I think that it is the best university ever!Payton

I was always anti-online course for my college, but after trying to complete my degree in a traditional setting while juggling my teaching and family responsibilities, I gave ACE a chance. I was the most amazing experience. First, I could afford this program! They were very upfront about the cost (no hidden fees). While there is no financial aid, you can’t beat the price!! Customer service was always easy— much more than the three other universities I attended. If I ever had a question or issue, they were back with an answer within hours. More, I really learned a lot. The professors provided real-life experience and feedback. The workload is manageable one course at a time, but I was meeting a deadline and was able to finish in 8 months! It was intense, but my new promotion and salary will almost pay for the degree in a year! Well worth it!!! I’d love to work for ACE one day to help enhance their program! It was great but it is clear they’re always evolving and improving.J T

I am over halfway through the Ed Leadership Masters program, and I love it. My favorite part is the class length. You take one class at a time, and it is five weeks long. After the first course, you really do acclimate to the schedule. I am able to focus intensely on one subject at a time. Another thing I love about ACE is the quality of the assignments. I feel prepared to complete them, and I believe they are applicable to my current position as a teacher, and my future in administration. Finally, the professors are wonderful. They are knowledgable and helpful, and most of them give detailed, specific feedback on assignments. I wholeheartedly recommend ACE for your further education.Tara Lensink

For almost 8 years I have had the pleasure of working for ACE, but in 2017 I made the leap to become a student as well. Often, as an employee, we see only part of the student experience. I have been a Tendercare Home Health Aide for seven years and have found Tendercare to be an excellent place to work. While always maintaining to abide by all the required government guidelines and regulations for employees they provide the needed continuing education courses for their employees. Just left my hospital job to work for Tendercare. As an employee my time and skills are respected. Tendercare has been a fantastic company to be a part of. The families and patients are always a joy to provide nursing care for, but it is the support, values, and organization of the office staff and management that makes working here a pleasure. The company is managed by dedicated staff (many of which have served in direct patient care) and employs schedulers who bend over backwards to accommodate both the nurses and families. It is increasingly rare to find organizations that truly stand by their values. Lucky for my mom, Marquette Manor is a shining example of an organization that walks its talk. When mom moved to Indianapolis, we evaluated a number of prospective senior communities. What stood out about Marquette was its nonprofit status and commitment to resident welfare. As different from the national chains where any profit is siphoned off to the parent company, Marquette regularly reinvests available funds to improve the resident experience. The difference is palpable even to a new visitor. One unique element of the Marquette commitment is its Benevolent Fund, meant to support longer term residents who have moved into higher levels of care that eventually exceed their resources. As mom moved from Independent Living, to Assisted Living, to Skilled Nursing, she went from being able to fully cover her monthly costs to being in deficit. Per agreement with Marquette, we tapped mom’s savings to close the monthly gap until those savings were mostly depleted. We then applied for, and were kindly granted, benevolent assistance to help close the gap. Marquette showed up as promised. Mom will be able to stay in the caring, comforting environment that has become home. What for some may have been a marketing ploy, for Marquette was commitment. Marquette has everything I need. A nice apartment, good meals that Marquette is known for; bus service to my doctors, to the grocery, to the symphony, etc.. Programs in a large auditorium that includes documentaries, Hollywood movies, talks by good and knowledgable speakers, live music by enjoyable local musicians, etc. A library. A bank, a small shop for those necessities. We also have a athletic center run under contract with Indiana University National Institute of Fitness and Sports with planned group classes for all levels of ability. From reasonably healthy when we come in, to classes that help us us keep our O2 levels up and/ or keep functioning. Grounds are beautiful and well maintained by professionals. Marquette feels safe. Is safe. Security and nursing help are a call button away. Also important: the staff knows us by name: we are individuals. Residents tend to be people who have been accomplished in some area of life. Interesting people. We don't all vote the same, but we do not go there in our conversations..Marion Harcourt

Our family is ever grateful for the incredible care and rehabilitation from Marquette’s Health Center. From admission to our last day in rehab, the team shared their care, compassion, expertise and love for my Mom and our family day and night. Our experience was especially important because my Mom came from living at home to suddenly being diagnosed with cancer complicated by a stroke. The Marquette team walked along side her motivation, inspiration and desire to return home. My previous post from 10 mo. ago was for Harcourt Terrace. I apologize for the misunderstanding. However!!! I did use Harrison Terrace recently. My sister walked in on a caregiver yelling at our loved one. Then the staff would roll their eyes and not speak when we visited. Instructions stating the family would do laundry meant nothing. Most of the clothing items were missing. Took 2 weeks for them to find the family blanket. And a vile of medicine was included with the take home meds, which I returned.TR Pinner

I have been to the bookstore in downtown Indy once and I prefer to place my online order for books at this campus 100%. I live in Noblesville..So it is much more convenient and I recommend ordering online.Of course If you know your course number for each class you will need a book for or in my case I send the teacher a quick email prior to placing my order to male sure i have the right book. Staff is friendly somewhat…and tries to be helpful. It gets busy with the nursing students picking up scrubs and other medical supplies.The manager was not very nice to them. I have yet had problem with any of my orders (4 to be exact) since my 2 semesters at ivy tech. I also returned a book I no longer needed for one of classes and they helped me In less than 5 minutes. Just make sure you have your student id# (C***) along with your ID to pick up orders or return. Hope this helps!Jennifer Mejia

I graduate in May and will transfer to a university. Ivy Tech has been the best thing that has ever happened to my education. As long as you are smart enough to review teachers before signing up for classes, you will do great. If you have a problem, go to campus, and they will take care of you. I am very grateful for the staff in the memory care unit that have respectfully taken care of my mom for the past (almost) two years. The communication with me regarding my mom’s health – both physical and mental – has been top notch. During the past year with COVID restrictions, modifications were made so that I could still have contact with my mom via phone and video chat. They helped make a scary time more manageable by giving the extra effort to ensure we could still communicate. I appreciate the thorough care and love my mom has always been given by the Allisonville Meadows Cottage nurses, aids and the social worker. The special activities that are planned and executed are wonderful. The staff has provided numerous activities and events that have allowed me to continue to make new memories with my mom and I am so appreciative. It is a hard decision to place a loved one in someone else’s care… Knowing these special, loving people care for her in my place is so important. They are like family now. I’m forever grateful for the love and respect they show my mom and to me.Jeni Selm

I wasn’t too happy putting my aunt in a nursing home but am so grateful I admitted her to Allisonville Meadows!!! The management is fantastic. Maddie made me feel very welcome and was so patient with me and my aunt. Neha the Director was so kind and told me I could come to her with any concerns or just to talk. The front desk ladies were very welcoming. Gloria is so pleasant and has such high energy. I know my mom is in good hands at Allisonville Meadows. I can finally rest knowing she’s taken care of. The nursing staff works so hard, you can tell they love what they do. I highly recommend this place.Jada Smith

do NOT trust this facility with your loved one. They will rot in their room by themselves. They couldn’t even bother to put my grandmothers dentures in. She deteriorated SO MUCH in their care that we thought she was going to die. After being home with PROPER care for 2 days, she was able to feed herself & grab her water. Two things that she wasn’t able to do after being in their care, with nobody checking on her. PLEASE do not entrust them with your loved ones.Katherine Heppner

My Step-Father was in this facility due to exposure to Covid-19 and thus ultimately testing positive at the original rehab facility he was in. Unfortunately, he was transferred to Washington Healthcare Center with a severe leg fracture that was surgically repaired before his Covid exposure. The first 5 days at Washington he just laid in bed. No PT was given to him. This caused him to develop bed sores that we were not notified about. Once I got through all the red tape of the actual workings of the facility I was able to get him help through the director of the facility. He was very kind and compassionate. I won't focus on the negatives only because I truly believe that the Director of the Facility was truly trying to do his best under the stress and strain of Covid. The recommendations for Covid exposures and quarantine were changing on a daily basis. And it was a very tricky situation to get my Dad PT and not expose others to Covid. I could understand this a little more than perhaps the average person/family with a loved one in a facility of this sort. I also work in Healthcare. We were facing the same challenges in many ways. My Dad said he really liked all the nurses. Hated the food. But I think if it were not for Covid it would have been a much better experience and a lot less confusing. I appreciate the time and effort that was made by the Director and his staff. No one got angry. AND I really believe that helped so much.P Olesen

Employees do not handle patient care and timely manner, employees and nurses and doctors do not communicate well with others or with the patient, employees do not pay attention to dietary orders, things in facility are not in a working order for instance water showers TV beds etc, assistance are rude and inefficient and forget about medications and their patients and take hours to respond to a call button or something requested by the patient. I'd like to add to my initial review. Regardless of what was posted this facility has a wonderful program full of activities as bingo cooking personal gym etc. The therapy specialists are very nice focus on each resident individually and the exercises are made fun and they worked for me personally the administrator Glenda works very hard to go the extra mile for all of her residents she is Hands-On with everyone and accomplishes everything she can and as aware of the negative things when brought to her attention and she handles them with respect Erica the social worker is the same way she visits regularly if she can't correct a scenario she goes out of her way to find out how. Overall, this facility does accomplish its treatment goals the food is great the laundry services team are fast and friendly and with all said I do recommend Washington health Care to take care of yourself or loved ones and they are working in a timely manner to fix the other issues at hand.Amanda maners

My step father is in this facility and some of the administrative staff members are not pleasant to communicate with. My brother has called to inquire about his money and insurance multiple times. When he calls, he is often transferred to business manager Michelle and her voicemail is always full. He continues to call and she’s always in a meeting or he gets transferred to a voicemail. The times few times he has been able to speak with the business manager she has been very disrespectful to him. Other than that issue we are very pleased with nursing staff. They are very informative, kind, always answering all questions and concerns that we have in regards to my step father. I am now getting disillusioned with Hooverwood. My Mother is 83 and had triple bypass heart surgery. After being released from the hospital on a Thursday and arrived at Hooverwood by 1pm; she was never seen by the doctor. I was not able to transport her. I could not make it to the hospital at time of her release, so I didn't get to see the papers no know if she is on a cardiac care diet. There is not a choice on the "menu" for low sodium or fats. And no one serving the food knew of any nutritional information to watch for the sodium ourselves. An other lady at my Mother's dinning table is supposed to be on a low sodium diet because of pulmonary hypertension. She couldn't eat any of the food on the menu. This lady asked me to find out how much sodium was in the tomato soup. I asked the gentleman serving. He handed me a single serving can to Campbell's tomato soup. It said sodium for one serving was 780 milligrams. This was almost half of her daily intake of sodium. Then two visitors at another table told me not to get involved for this lady. When she asked for help, I will help. Many patients would get food and have no cutlery, and then have to wait. Many would never get their drinks until after their dinner was over. It looks as if the food comes from a main kitchen, then plated in little kitchens in the ward. So there is special diet needs being filled. This doesn't help with rehabilitation of the patient.Jeffrey Swisher

My grandmother was here for least 5 hours from being discharged from hospital due to surgery on HIP . She wanted me to come get her right away, nobody came to do physical therapy with her , took the bandage off her hip where she had her surgery and left it off . That is how she can get an infection smh . She called out to people to help her nobody would and just left her in room . She also asked for a menu so that she can eat they wrote the menu on a piece a paper and gave it to her. This place is disgusting nothing but ghetto people working there and they treat people wrong and i definitely don’t like how she was getting treating so she called me to come get here and i had to take off work to do so. Packed her stuff and left, funny thing about this place they never once stop us just looked at us while i was taking her and her stuff to my car. That pissed me off as much as her not receiving any help . Please avoid this place my grandmother was check in here today Feb 20,2018 and left 5 hours later becuase no one cared that she was in need of helping, walking past her door and leaving her in the room . Our father came to Hooverwood after several other (bad) places. We have seen it all. We highly recommend them! Wish we would have found Hooverwood sooner. They took great care of my Father. The love and excellent communication we received was so special. Dr.'s offices only give you lists of places and will not comment on specifics. Sad. Do not put your loved one here, I would give them 1/2 a star if I could. This place had abused my loved one and intentionally Mis-filed the police report as a missing item instead of a battery and robbery!!! First off, here is a big warning sign, they have no snacks or water even for patients to have on weekends and evenings, so everyone has to starve if you don’t have a stash or anloaved one to help you out. Second of all they open the mail and read/fish through things before the patient ever even gets it, which is ironic because they never opened a box of chocolates for my loved ones birthday that sat next to them for over a month, when they lost almost 30lbs in 5 months. This place does have a few wonderful Nurses and Nurses aids, unfortunately just a few though. This place is a nightmare, my loved one was neglected horribly, when they were found deceased, the autopsy had confirmed that it was at least 10 hours before the nurse even noticed they had passed, it’s was a nightmare! Part of the problem here is no organization or communication between shifts, people go all day sitting in their own waste, while 2 people do all the work there is always 2-4 people ignoring or sitting on their behinds, and it’s usually the nights and weekend where things fall through the cracks. There simply are not enough caring people that work (especially nights /weekends) to make this place acceptable. Management does not motivate or care for the few amazing staff members that do work hard and it makes this place difficult to be reliable care for a loved one as a result. Under no circumstances is it ok to shame, scream or hit someone who is dying, that’s just part of being a decent human being, but I’ve seen it done here.G Fur

I highly recommend Eagle Valley Meadows for care of your loved ones. The staff is so helpful and if you have any concerns, they address them immediately. Also, the facility is clean. The staff really love the patients in their care. Hopefully, one day soon we’ll be back to some sense of normalcy where we can take our loved ones out overnight, but until then, we know they’re in a safe environment. I had a very serious surgery after which I need rehab (I was terrified after hearing all the horror stories over the years). But, that all went away day after day. The staff seem to be very diverse. They were just great from the first day to the last including Aid, RN, food services, housekeeping, maintenance, doctor's, and best of all PT and OT. The atmosphere was upbeat that helped a lot. The staff was all on task to care for my needs and to keep me headed toward my goal. Please know you all continue to be in my prayers. Now walk in God's Blessings for your lives!Clarissa

First off, the campus is gorgeous. The attention paid to student needs is excellent as are the facilities. The professors I have met have been most impressive as have those working in athletics. Brad Stevens, the basketball coach, exemplifies the true spirit of the campus. He is a local product whose work ethic, values, and foresight reflect the "Butler way." If you are looking for a mid sized university which cares about the total development of its students Butler is the place.Ron Adams

My class was the first class to go through hondros indianapolis campus , It wasn’t easy but becoming a NURSE is not a easy process and will NOT be handed to you. Hondros gives you the tools to be successful and pass your NCLEX ( state boards) on the first time. Our Dean & instructors made it to where we were comfortable and adjusted at times for us. Tutoring platform they provide really helps. No school is perfect but this LPN program was 100% better than my ADN program I was in at another local “school” across the street. I loved it so much I am now going back for my RN at the Ohio location 🙏Andreas Wells

As an employee of this site for two years who interacts daily with our students, I love coming to work here every day. It’s separate from Marian University’s main campus and is in a building right by the Pyramids. Last year, we moved up a floor to the fourth floor into a freshly renovated space and it has been great to see our students learn here. It has two classrooms, two simulation labs, enhanced debriefing rooms, two exam rooms, a dedicated student break room, and a locker area. The new labs have state-of-the-art clinical equipment, hospital beds, and medical manikins — a great, safe, and realistic environment for students to practice interacting with live patients in the real world and gain confidence heading into clinicals. Overall, we couldn’t ask for a better place for our students to come for labs, take exams, and connect with their fellow nursing students and instructors.Trinity Firth

I got accepted to UINDY after careful consideration about the program I wanted to attend. I chose UIndy over 3 other schools I was accepted to. They were not helpful at all after admission about what I needed to do next. The orientation was a joke and not helpful, they basically only addressed the students that would be receiving parental help with the finances and didn't answer any questions about the students like myself who would be doing it on their own, since my parents basically paid for my first degree. I also am supposed to receive half off my tuition due to my father being a disabled veteran. The Advisor I spoke with denied that despite the paperwork I sent her. A few weeks later I received my bill. They want 12k in a MONTH or else I would be dropped from classes. I reached out for more financial aid help and never got any response. Calls were not returned and emails were left ignored. This school was supposed to help me follow my dreams, and instead they crushed them. They killed all aspiration I had to further my education. It is now too late for me to attend any other college this fall and I must wait until next fall now, assuming I will even gain the perseverance back. If you are looking for a good college, I would stray from UIndy. I was left alone in the dark and put behind all the students who's mommy and daddy's will be paying the cost. I will set out to find a college with kind staff, good communication skills and one that will accept my fathers benefits. Do yourselves a favor and do the same.Elizabeth Galante

I have enjoyed my 2 years here and now i am plaining to move to CA. Professors always say that we are willing to help you if you come to our offices, but when I go to them they do not answer my question from the different aspects. If you do not ask multiple questions, they will not explain everything. Even in class, they try to hide some information from you so that you have to read the whole book to not miss any point. NOT ONE OR TWO PROFESSORS HAVE DONE THAT ( ESPECIALLY CHEMISTRY MAJOR). My advice, be away of this. There are a lot of activities that you can meet different people and learn more about different cultures. Plus, alcohol is prohibited in campus. ** I do not drink at all** Good LuckLolo Lole

I transferred here after attending Indiana University my first year of college. I felt the college is a great option for students who want more attention and a smaller class size. I always really enjoyed my time at UIndy because of their great and supportive athletic department. The school being smaller gave me more opportunities to fulfill my dreams and do what I wanted to do in college. Like everything, it is not for everyone. I believe it is a great school though and should be considered by all. It ended up being a perfect fit for me.The Landys

I have had the worst experience of my life dealing with this school. I started an IT program that included 4 certifications through a 3rd party learning center and they ended up canceling the program after my first year. I was approved for financial aid to cover the cost of this program and after it was canceled I was informed by NAU that this program was no longer covered by financial aid and they would need a lump sum payment for the year I had attended. I informed them that if I had the money to pay for it all at once then I wouldn't have applied for financial aid. They agreed to set up monthly payments for me to pay off the balance. I paid them religiously every month for almost 2 years and then I receive a letter from them saying my balance had been paid in full and any remaining balance was to be taken up with a new company. I called the company and it turns out is a very aggressive collections agency. After several phone calls with this new collections agency they could not tell me anything about the loan. I finally received a call from yet another collections agency saying they needed the remaining balance to be paid in full with 1 payment. They reported this to all credit agencies and stated that I was a high class delinquent account. Needless to say I don't know how I could have done anything different. I set up payments for a situation that wasn't my fault and am being harassed about it. I will never refer anyone this this "school" and do not wish anyone to have to deal with this group of people.Matthew Smith

Earned my Associates degree from Ivy Tech in 2020. They have a wide range of class choices that are all affordable. I enrolled in the Ivy Tech/IUPUI Passport Program to complete my Bachelors at IUPUI (just graduated with my BA a couple weeks ago!) and all my Ivy Tech credits transferred over without any problems. Leslie Busch was my advisor and she worked really hard to make sure every class I took would transfer successfully in the Passport program, and helped me to recover my GPA from a 0.24 (when I failed out years ago) to a 3.5 when I graduated with honors – to do this, she made sure I was retaking the exact classes I'd initially failed so that I could make up the credits. I met up with her once or twice a semester to make sure that I was on track for my goals, and she always had time to speak with me and answer every question I had. The professors are great; they're wise and very kind, and I was well-prepared for my transfer to IUPUI. Excellent education at a fraction of the cost, which was really nice since I had to pay out-of-pocket. I would not have been able to get a college degree were it not for Ivy Tech (and now I have 2), so I cannot recommend them enough. I attended this school for a certificate I was interested in but getting through the courses with some unprofessional instructor who never knew answers to your questions was a complete disappointment, frustrating and stressful school. This was the most unorganized college I’ve ever attended. No one is on the same page at this university. I received my undergrad and master degree from IUPUI and the professors and staff there was nothing like IVY Tech. IUPUI was structured and organized and they wanted their students to be successful in completing their program. I never attended a college that had no guidance for there students to ensure they are successful in their academic year. Everything just seem to be so unorganized and discombobulated at IVY Tech, I would not recommend this college to anyone. You get what you pay for, if you pay cheap tuition you will receive poor education, I see why this college has a low graduation rate. It’s not worth the headache.Marie B.

I have had several professors who had made an positive impact on my life. So far, every Psych professor and my communications professor were amazing. However, every class I have taken for English were TERRIBLE. One professor (Instructor Smith) will look for every reason possible to take from your grade. Another professor (Instructor King) does not communicate and I didn’t receive grades until the second to last week. I also have NO CLUE who my advisor is because nobody is returning my emails. Dayspring Career Institute is a good learning institute for beginners who is interested in nursing and helped you have a solid foundation you need in your Nursing career. I would not recommend this for your Group Instructor certificate. I have taken the test twice and failed. I bought both reading materials and have read word for word each book , hi-lighted, went back through both books and took notes, re-read the books, and my notes. There are questions on the test that are NOT in either of these books. Their are slim to no webinars on this not to mention the cost of them. They don't even have the PrepU option for this cert. I also reached out to them via email asking about a couple things after the first test and NO ONE responded (they don't care, they just want your money). seeing as in one of their books they state peoples learning styles and only 15% of people learn by reading and testing, therefore they are pretty much setting up everyone to fail. (Again Just a money thing to them) I have been very happy with Affa and would highly recommend you do any and all certs through them. I will be letting anyone and everyone in my line of business how this place is ran and how they neglect their customers when trying to succeed. Their communication and service doesn’t exist. To find ways to communicate and be communicated with are a struggle. It is clearly used as a piggy bank to find ways to increase fees and trick members into paying more than necessary while offering nothing in return. Simply a piece of “paper” with no support or education. I would not recommend this credential to anyone. There are cheaper and easier ones to acquire that are still universally accepted. Why pay more and have more headache for nothing in return? As a professional in the industry for 10 years, I am done with this embarrassing group presenting itself as some sort of authority.Josh Evans

People who are leaving bad reviews probably have two issues. 1. They studied too much and over thought the test they took. 2. They don’t know how to APPLY the things you learn to real life situations. It’s not a memorization test, it’s a competency test. If you’re not competent in all areas of your cert, regardless of the test you take, you’re going to have a hard time passing. Also, you get results instantly on the computer. So saying that it takes forever to get your results is a lie. I passed the CPT and received my hard copy certification in the mail within two weeks.Joe Chamberlain
