Solid school. Easy(ish) to navigate. Some of the buildings are far apart and depending on your classes you might have only 10 minutes to go all the way across campus. The staff is friendly and try to help anyone navigate the school, so don't worry! Each building is clearly labeled and maps are everywhere so it's hard to get lost. There's tons of socializing areas and seating for different gatherings. Some of the popular places would be the courtyard with the fountains or the large hill in the center of campus. The campus also has a variety of food options, so whether you want smoothies, coffee, pizza, pastries or a salad there are options all around!Zena Krimzon

They have no idea how to teach what you will need in the state of Kansas. They will use other professors lectures and do not want to answer questions or teach you. So yeah if you want to teach yourself from a book and have a bunch of assignments due constantly this is the place for you. I am taking a welding certificate so I can work in the welding workforce. I want to work for the olathe railroad welding force after college. Then maybe do some underwater welding I have not quite decided. If I do I have to take a scubadiving class to get certified in that. In the fall of 2014 I signed up for classes to start my future. Following my fafsa being denied I dropped ALL my classes within the same week. Black Hawk West Campus now has sent it to collections which is haunting me 4 years later. I was never contacted by Black Hawk about my debt, that I shouldn’t have incurred since I never stepped foot on their campus except to sign up and drop (IN THE SAME WEEK) to now 4 years later find I have a debt in COLLECTIONS due to their lack of communication or care. I’ve done what I can to try and figure it out but their “Policy” doesn’t allow them to work with me or it’s never the “Right” person to talk to. If you want to be haunted down the road by something this LESS THAN AMAZING so called “college” has to offer! Then sign up because you’ll be let down!Ryan Heberer

Advisors are hit or miss. Once I found a good one, I made it a point to always ask for her. Most of the professors I've had are good, although some are rather quirky (to be expected, I guess.) The terrible downfall for this college is some of the financial aid staff and registrar staff. They are patronizing, dismissive, not helpful at all, and have an attitude problem. It's as though Black Hawk doesn't realize that these are the first people that most students are going to come into contact with, and those same people will set the foundation for the student's first and lasting impression. Absolutely amazing college! It's amazing how much they are willing to help students out. There's scholarships to help pay for tuition, and programs that can even help you out with book/laptop expenses. They even have therapy sessions for anyone who's stressed and may just need to vent! I hate this school but I did get a good education. The teachers care about their students (most of them anyway), but everyone else just cares about money! When I came for summer o I had already been accepted and was excited to attend largely because of the low tuition costs. Then I get to course advising they tell me that I’m required to take a 1 credit hour class and if I take more than 15 credit hours I have to pay an extra $ 700 for each credit hour over! Either that or I would have to take 13 credit hours and be off track for graduation. Then I decided college wasn’t for me but I was so close to getting my associates I decided I’d switch my major to that and take two summer classes. I applied for graduation a little month late butveas charged an extra $50 on my application and the semester ends tomorrow and they still haven’t approved me! I emailed them and they are dodging the question and not being helpful. If you live in Kentucky I’d recommend going here because it’s cheap for you but if you’re out if state go somewhere else.Kylie Liefer

To all high school seniors looking at colleges, tour Iowa State! Iowa State was pretty low on my college list but I decided to tour it anyway. Coming from Wisconsin, my first thoughts were it was a college in the middle of no where with an easy acceptance rate…sketchy. But the moment I stepped foot on campus for my college visit I knew it was the place for me. It's a division one school but the beautiful campus and friendly staff made it feel small. Iowa State was the only college I applied to and I am more than happy with that decision. The professors and advisors truly care for every student and want you to succeed. For the university being in a such a small town, there is so much to do at ISU. From intramural sports, clubs, going to sporting events, joining greek life, exploring Ames, there is so much to do. Every fall, I am reminded as to why Iowa State University is ranked as one of the most beautiful campus in the country. All the fall foliage makes me want to keep snapping photos like an incoming freshman visiting the campus for the first time. Some of the best locations for looking at fall colors are: 1) around the campanile, 2) central campus (near Pearson Hall), and 3) along Osborn Dr. If you want to avoid getting judged by others for taking pictures, there are plenty of photo opportunities at Reiman Gardens. However, be sure to take those photos quickly as peak fall colors only lasts for about a week.John Hsieh

Large expansion occurring throughout campus in the engineering and sciences. My daughter has been planning on going to Northeast for over a year now. We sent in our housing application, fee, and dorm request last year. She received a letter that she got the dorm she wanted! She elected to go to Northeast at this point because she was so happy! She met her 3 roommates for the 4 person dorm room! All is good… wait… nope guess not. We received a call today that they are overbooked on kids and jamming 2 more students into their 4 person dorm room. 6 people in 1 dorm. Where will 2 xtra beds go? How will 6 people use 4 tiny closets? How will 6 girls shower and get ready in 1 tiny bathroom every morning. I called to say—- ummmm- no…. and I was told “it is not our choice”. I’m sorry, we are paying over $10,000 for a dorm room and it’s not our choice? I have never been more disappointed and do not know what to do. Can we even get into another school this late in the year? Did Northeast do this because they know that we are stuck? Literally so upset. Ima tell everyone I know because what they did to us was dirty. Be very careful with the promises your are given when visiting this school.Abby Hansen

I recently completed a summer course at North East and was informed that they do not provide a forum for students to give feed back to professors on the course. I believe that it is note worthy for professors to be evaluated by the subject/students to see if they are performing up to expectation or not. The professor was unprepared in the syllabus as to what was necessary to purchase for books and materials. The syllabus stated 4 materials were needed and we never used two of the items listed. Followed MLA citation in book that was required but docked on grade because professor used different style in his notes (required book referenced Print vs Web). He didn't want this noted. How are we as students to learn from our mistakes if we don't get assignments graded and back before the next assignment due. All assignment built off the previous assignment! This was a good school overall. I went here from 2009 to 2011. It was a small school and they were just building their multicultural department so it was something to be desired but it was good education. If you came to class on time and did you're part of the work to be prepared you made it through. There was true traditional student to teach your advisement here for the students career path. The education quality is beyond poor. I took a composition class and it was at an 8th grade level at best. The teacher downgraded assignments for "reasons", she was proven wrong and refused to change the grades. I learned absolutely nothing. I then took up my issues with student services and they jerked me around for over a month. Caught the guy in a couple lies about how he was dealing with the issue, talked to his boss and then they jerked me around. It's been going on for almost 4 years of back and forth. They stick to their guns on getting paid and don't do anything to actually get you a real education. If you just want to pay for a degree and do a bunch of busy work this is a good place, but if you actually have a brain or desire to learn anything useful, find something else. This is the best university I have ever studied. The only reason I transfer was because I couldn't be in cold place. If only the area wasn't that cold and I was comfortable being in cold, I swear to god this is where I would go. Friendly people, nice professors, beautiful college, less people and more attention and lot of other benefits. Professor knows you by your name and anytime you need any help, they are there for you. If you have any issue, just call the university and you will be warmly welcomed. I always loved their gym and swimming pool. I recently graduated from the Transport Training located on the Neosho campus and loved the whole experience. When I first learned that I was going there I was a natural sceptic, but only because I never knew that a "Community College" would actually have so much to offer. While I was there training for my Missouri CDL exam I lived on campus at RoughRider Village. Everyone I ever came into contact with on campus was always friendly and helpful. Crowder allowed me the opportunity to never again judge a school by its name. I had full access of course to all of the many resources that Crowder offers and I used them on a daily basis. The Library was the perfect place to round out my day of training. And by the end of my course, I was wanting it to last another 3 or 4 weeks. The staff for the transport training program were absolutely Great! They were able to make it a very fun and exciting learning experience. And no, it's not all driving. There are many things to learn in order to become a professional driver, not much different that many other fields of study. I was so impressed with the school, that I am currently in the process of trying to get a new set of classes started later this year, by utilizing the Online Programs and partnerships that are currently being offered at Crowder. I would recommend this school to anyone who is considering any of the programs they offer. They also have a top notch athletic program. I encourage you to give them a fair chance when deciding on your school. And for the record I traveled many states to attend Crowder, and will be recommending it for years to come. Lastly I want to say thank you again to all the staff at Crowder, you folks should be used as the standard. And just so everyone knows Ms. Peggy in the cafeteria cooks everything with lots of love. I absolutely loved the cafeteria and all of the many choices they provide daily. So check them out if you really want a great school. I believe you too will be surprised. My experience at Crowder College was great until recently. I have been a student for awhile. I attended on campus at Mac County, and then transferred to online when I moved to Oklahoma because I enjoyed the college that much. The reason I'm posting only two stars is because of how I was treated by a woman named Robin in Financial Aide. As a student in general, I would hope to never be talked down to by any advisor at Crowder College. I have a few mental health issues including anxiety. I'm also on the spectrum for ASD. This woman belittled me, and made me feel completely incompetent because I clicked a wrong button on my FASFA, and instead of explaining this to me politely or helping me fix it, I was forced to write out a letter explaining that I had made a mistake and had issues and had to sign it to return to the Financial Aide office before she would simply fix the small mistake I made. When I brought this to the attention of my college advisor he informed the appropriate people and told me it would be taken care of. This whole experience has made me never want to use Crowder again. I felt embarrassed, belittled, and stupid by this woman. I will not be returning to Crowder ever again unfortunately.Zoie Vickery

Okay, my initial review was based upon the ease of transition from high school to college my child was given. And, for the next couple of months it went well. Without going into specific detail, I watched our confident, adventurous child become a withdrawn, sullen depressed person. When I approached her about that she said she tried to get help from the college, but they told her she was pretty much on her own. They told me the same thing. The only reason she is there now is because the vocational school attached to the college is in her field. We moved her off the campus and into an apartment and she is doing much better. My experience at NCTA is an extremely large reason behind my career and social success. The social networking that NCTA's small but friendly campus offers is one of a kind. Nice buildings, TERRIBLE instructors, especially in their medical-focused science programs. Instructors changing assignments, deleting submitted work, and failing entire sections of classes.. Instructors that play the "gotcha" game, attempting to fail and trick you on material and assignments, as opposed to trying to teach. Have professors ripping material directly from other programs and having you do it for assignments (other universities) that still has other universities logos all over it. Also, you're on your own, admin will not respond / is not on your side. I would spend my money and time elsewhere if AT ALL possible. Had an instructor claim they have the "best program in the state" and then fail to respond by email for about 3 months, and had to get Dean involved. Feels like I'm interacting with high school students for professors. I am from out of state and it turns out Iowa has basically no resources regarding escalating issues with professors – what they say goes and that's it, regardless of how inappropriate or unproductive. DO NOT trust your education to this program and these instructors.Rone Parent

Kirkwood is a fantastic school with high level talent. The college seems to view itself as a service to paying customers (a bafflingly rare delight), and offers courses that inspire good work and deep thinking. Kirkwood *far* exceeds any other educational institution I've attended. The admission process is transparent, the courses you're paying for are clearly outlined, the requirements of the course are made plain at the start of the term… man. I can't say enough nice things. And you know what? I never once had anyone correct me to say "Call me 'Doctor' ". That may not mean much to you, but it meant a hell of a lot to me. Do yourself a favor and go here for your first two years with an eye to transfer on, should that be your aim. You're not just getting more for your money. You're flat out getting more.Claiming Light

Least understanding faculty. Called 6 hours after my deadline to cancel a test that I paid $95 dollars to take. The program director for CE was rude and condescending stating that she would not refund my exam because I was simply 6 hours past the 24 hour deadline. This school is clearly just out to rob people of their money and it’s sickening. I’ve had nothing but a bad experience and it’s crazy to me because at one point I was so excited to attend. When I first started signing up for my MBA I advised them that I had just graduated with my bachelors degree. My goal was to start August 5, and I submitted all my necessary paperwork and cooperated as such. When it got to my transcripts I was advised I could not start because the conferral date was not on the transcripts. The enrollment specialist told me to reach out to my previous school. I did and it was a hassle. I called the enrollment specialist at Capella to advise of the updates to only find out that Capella’s registrar team had already been in contact with my school. I wanted to start on the 5th as it was very discouraging to go through the process to be turned away at last minute. 1). Total waist of time as I took time out of my day to complete orientation and do what they advised of me. 2) I asked to speak with a supervisor who was very vague and could not provide the information needed. 3) I again called Capella to try and escalate the situation, but the manager never returned my call. I feel as if they had me sign up because they were the ones to get paid for each student to enroll and failed to educate me properly in the beginning, which is very misleading and discouraging. Since no one wanted to comply and take responsibility I will be escalating this to the BBB as this is not my fault and I should had been able to start in the promised time given and should have been educated properly.Tearra McCray

The worst university ever! They made me waste my time and my money from the first day, every time I communicated with them each counselor told me something different, and more than a month passed and I did not have an accurate answer on the status of my application, after a month a person from human resources let me know that I had to do my transcripts equivalency again on another website because the one I had already sent twice to them waiting for they review it (and that they themselves told me it was okay to do it that way) was not valid for them to take me into account to start the course this past October. 1- First time the transcripts were not encrypted, so they asked my to ask the institution they send it again but encrypted this time and I did it and sent it again. And after that they let me know that didn’t work for them. So I wasted my time, my money and above all the opportunity to start on the desired date. A very bad job of the staff. Very bad communication with the students who want to start there, and they also contradict each other. They all say different things and waste your time. They are also very rude. I hope that no one has this bad experience, nor misses the opportunity to start the course on the date they planned, and due to the horrible work of other people you lose opportunities in life.Claudia Espinosa

From the beginning of my Master's level school search, Capella stood out. I had a great recommendation from a friend already, but in researching complete online programs to work with my schedule, Capella checked all of the boxes I needed. I had a wonderful experience with my admissions counselor and continue to have great interactions with all communication. I am happy with all faculty thus far and feel that I am learning exactly what I need for my future as a school counselor. The course load is what I expected it to be and the time I spend on classwork is time well spent. I feel very confident that I will be prepared to enter the field of school counseling when I graduate. The very first thing Capella does once you are enrolled is to start you in a class to help navigate your program and get you familiar with the online format. This helped immensely and calmed my nerves for entering into a graduate program online. I feel very well cared for and have not had a negative experience yet! I was charged 600 dollars because they weren't able to post the required material for for a class, until the day before the class was suppose to start. When talking to them on the phone, it was like I was talking to a incoherent baboon, one second they say I'm talking to the wrong office. Asked to get transferred to the right office, then hear them say this is the right office. If you have a stereotype of an illiterate Iowans, then this place fits it like a glove. I loved this college, compared to a university I saved a TON of money, and I have had nothing but amazing experiences with staff and faculty. They went above and beyond to help me and make sure that I was taking the correct classes for what I wanted to do and that all my credits would transfer. The professors are dedicated to helping the students that want to be helped, just like any school there are the students who don't care and don't put in the effort. It is your money so you are responsible for showing up and doing the work, but as long as you do your professors will be there to help. The campus is also pretty and well maintained.Sarah Reinick

I ended up backing out of the enrollment process. After sending my transcripts and FAFSA info. I asked what would be the cost for the classes. I could not get a straight answer from anyone. " We won't know until you are accepted … and enrollenrolled. And to be accepted you must complete the student loan applications process." I made it clear from Day 1 I was not taking out student loans. And wanted to pay out of pocket…. So they could have saved me a bunch of time by saying we won't accept you without loans. And I would have walked away. Even on my final email I sent to them say I was no longer interested because I found a local University that was cheaper and way more helpful the reply I got back was…. " well if you are still against taking out loans….hope that school is a better fit for you..".Jaime Seda

This school lacks communication so bad I do not recommend this School to anybody if you would further have questions later on down the road you’re better off joining another school. It’s all nothing but stress since I began the school. And they don’t make situations any easier. Also the professors are mean as hell! They don’t teach you anything. They write out what you’re supposed to do every week and grade and give feedback. That’s it! You have to literally teach yourself with research articles and your text book. And when you do receive feedback from them on an assignment, and you had some errors, instead of teaching us our wrong doings they decide to give you zeros and be rude when leaving feedback. Bellevue University is an outstanding educational experience with top notch staff and professors. I graduated in 2005 and the education I received at Bellevue impacted my career in a positive manner. Our Bernese Mountain Dog was showing signs of lameness at 3 years old. Way too young to be limping. So Pawsitive Strides helped us figure out that one knee had a partial tear and both hind knees were needing some strengthening. We started the underwater treadmill, chiro therapy, and laser therapy. All of these things definitely helped our dog feel better and we saw improvements in her condition. But then she ruptured her hind right knee so we had TPLO surgery done at Sirius in Omaha (great surgeon by the way). To help Indy recover from surgery, we again started the process of therapy at Pawsitive Strides. 6 weeks after the first TPLO surgery, our girl ruptured her other knee and tore her meniscus. Back to Sirius for another TPLO surgery… We are now looking forward to our girl working with Pawsitive Strides to help strengthen her knees and get her back to the active girl she is. They truly care for your dog. Our girl is NOT a fan of vet clinics but she is EXTREMELY excited when we pull into the Pawsitive Strides parking lot. It just shows how much care they take to make sure your dog is comfortable. Dr. Peterson and staff have been beyond accommodating and always want to know how things have been progressing. I was initially skeptical of starting treatment after my regular vet had just prescribed gabapentin for arthritis and bone spur in my aging dog's shoulder. I sought a surgical opinion because I saw my dog's pain and inactivity and personality change. The surgeon did not feel surgery would fix the symptoms but gave me info on Pawsitive Strides and things like "symptomatic" treatment. I made the appointment with Dr. Petersen. I received the initial treatment plan and was a little overwhelmed by overall commitment (logistics and costs). But we have stuck with it for almost two months. We finally kicked our treat habit and Roscoe attended twice per week appointments. After a little over a month, I have a different dog. He is doing things (activity, running, playing with siblings) that I didn't think he would do again. He has lost over 10 lbs. Dr. Petersen calls every week to talk about him with me. Every rehab technician is always happy to see us and knows him so well. Now, whenever I see him run, play, wrestle with his siblings it almost makes me tear up and I am soooo grateful everyone here.Molly Hamilton

Can't believe I didn't review Pawsitive Strides two years ago when Chrysanthemum tore a cruciate tendon. Dr. Thompson and the whole crew did a phenomenal job of making the recovery achievable and joyful. Our whole family appreciated the attention she received then. She's been back this fall for a sore shoulder, and again the whole staff has been incredibly easy to work with, attentive to the dog's needs and keeping up great communication with the owners. We have been going to Belle Plaine Animal Hospital since we moved to the cities 7 years. We had 1 very shy cat at the time and they were so good w/him. Then we acquired a rescue puppy & they were all very awesome w/our little puppy. She had come from a terrible place and was so fragile. Dr. Ricci suggested what food would be best for her, & how we could protect her from any further health issues. Then we babysat a cat that the owner forgot to come back to pick up, & they were fabulous helping us figure out what we needed to do to keep this cat as healthy as possible. They are very knowledgeable and caring people. Every time we are there we learn new things about our pets. Since we live more than 40 miles away they have always been so flexible w/our appointments. I would be hard pressed to find a more caring and knowledgeable clinic to go to. I would Highly Recommend this Clinic to anyone who needs an Animal Hospital/Clinic for their pets.Karen Melo Melo

Belle Plaine Animal Hospital is exactly what I have been searching for. Being someone that appreciates what holistic veterinary care has to offer, I couldn't be more thrilled at the fact that this location provides those services. There isn't anything more disheartening, to me, than to try to get care for your pets, only to be told that you have to have forced immunizations on them prior to having them checked by the doctor. I took my 13 year old yorkie poo here for the first time today. She had recently had some trauma after being attacked by a larger dog. She has high anxiety when going to the doctor or groomer and with her recent trauma I was nervous to bring her in. To my surprise BPAH was able to get her in the next day so i gave it a shot. I have never ever seen my dog as comfortable and relaxed at the vet as she was today. The staff was so sweet and gentle and gave her yummy treats. I am so glad I brought her to BPAH and I will definitely be using them as her primary from now on.Aubrianna Urman

My experience at Prairie View has always been a positive one! If you're looking for a vet in the Des Moines/Grimes area, I would HIGHLY recommend them! Dr. Lisa has seen my dog since he was a puppy (he was one of her first patients and he's five years old now) and she has ALWAYS been wonderful with him! When he's sick, they squeeze him in the same day (even if I need to drop him off — I always appreciate their flexibility). Everyone on staff does a great job ensuring my dog's experience is as fear-free as possible, feeding him peanut butter while he gets his vaccines and using minimal restraint. My dog especially loves Dave, Aimee, and Brooke — he's always so happy to see them when we visit! And during our last appointment, my dog was reluctant to get on the table so Aimee and Dr. Lisa even got down on the floor and did his entire exam from there! Prices are very reasonable as well. Minimal wait time before they seat us in an exam room. Overall awesome doctors and staff who are genuinely passionate about the well-being of their patients! I love Dr. Stearns, as she is very caring, kind, and knowledgable! The staff here have always been super nice, and I can tell that they truly care about their patients. After each exam, they clearly lay out all of your options for treatment and the costs. I literally drive about 45 minutes from Ames just to take my cat to this vet, so that says a lot about the good experiences I’ve had at Prairie View Animal Hospital. Prairie View Animal Hospital is the best vet clinic in town. Their doctors, vet techs and front staff are extremely knowledgeable and take time to explain everything they do. They are empathetic and sympathetic to you and your pets needs and are the most caring people in town.They treat your pets as if they are their own. Dr. Colleen Nemmers was amazing in seeing that something was seriously wrong with our baby Fluffy. Unfortunately Fluffy did not make it, she did have cancer, which was something Dr. Nemmers speculated. I appreciate how knowledgeable she was and how quickly results came back and how quickly she knew things were very bad. We were referred to ISU Small Animal Clinic which is almost 2 hours away, but when we got there they were already expecting us and vet techs came rushing to the desk to immediately start examining Fluffy. I highly recommend ISU Small Animal Clinic and Companion Animal Clinic. Dr. Nemmers was the only vet I've ever had to actually explain things to me without it being overwhelmed info I can't process. Dr.Ben, Dr.Colleen and Dr.Amanda are amazing!!! They have been taking care of many of our fur babies from the moment we brought them into our home, to the final day of their lives. They put everything they have, into taking care of every aspect of you and your fur babies’ life. They will not cut corners, or seek unnecessary treatment just to make a buck. The vet was extremely knowledgeable and was able to find what was wrong quickly. He was very informative of the problem and what I needed to do to make sure my cat was able to get better quickly and not have the problem come back. The assistants were very quick while they were in the room and knew exactly what they were doing. I definitely trust the staff and their knowledge of what they are doing. The pricing was kinda high however I will always take my cat there and feel safe knowing their knowledge for animals and pay their prices.Jenny Wiedemeier

There are vets all over the Quad Cities, but this is the place to take your beloved animals. They are respectful and knowledgeable, and I believe they love their patients as much as they love their own pets! I have never had a bad experience there; I highly recommend if you need care for your pet, not limited to cats and dogs, check them out. They also have day camp for dogs, and the camp staff is 10 out of 10. They will place your dog in a group based on size and energy level, and the prices are extremely reasonable. They take great care of all my pets. It’s easy to contact them with a hectic schedule due to the texting option. I’ve only met the female doctor with dark hair and she’s always been so kind and knowledgeable! Every tech has blown us away with compassion. Very efficient. I believe I’ve finally found a cure to help my cat that only took 2 visits here compared to my last vet that I wasted thousands on trying to find a cure and at least a dozen appointments trying different things! Everyone who answers the phones, checks you in, vet techs and doctors are all so kind! We bring our cats and our conure here and I always feel very comfortable and informed during their visits. We never have to wait too far out to be scheduled when I need an appointment and when you arrive at the clinic you are usually seen right on time, and if not they always apologize. I do not mind waiting for the great care we receive.Britt Brewer
