Misericordia University is not only strikingly beautiful but offers an exceptional education for every student. The faculty and staff at Misericordia are very encouraging and motivate every student to meet their dreams academically and socially. I have attended Misericordia for 4 years and am working toward my Doctorate in Physical Therapy. The Physical Therapy program is a 6.5 year guaranteed program, the first 3.5 years earning a bachelor’s degree and the next 3 years at the graduate level for physical therapy. This program has been accredited for a number of years and has a very high passing rate on the board exam. Throughout my 4 years at Misericordia, I have nothing but positive remarks. Misericordia has taught me how to be both successful and independent. I lived on campus for all 4 years at Misericordia, 2 years working as a Resident Assistant and two years with fellow students. Although it was fun to live with some of my friends, living by myself as an RA was definitely a huge perk. From being an RA, I was able to witness students who got involved in the Misericordia community and students who chose to mind to themselves. With that experience I can only give advice that getting involved and putting yourself out there is vital, not only at Misericordia but throughout life. You can’t just let life walk by you, you need to put on your shoes and run towards your dreams (and if something is for free, you really have nothing to lose). Misericordia offers a huge variety of ways to get involved from campus ministry, athletics, theater, and various clubs, there is most definitely something that peaks everyone’s interest. I have met so many amazing people and have made friendships that will last a lifetime from Misericordia. Through getting involved as an RA, and being involved in clubs such as business professional association, health care management association, and H.O.P.E (Healthy Options Peer Educators), I have been able to learn new information, make friends, and have fun. There is a wonderful program at Misericordia called the Guaranteed Placement Program (GPP) where every year of their education students learn viable and helpful tips such as how to properly handle a job interview or how to build your resume. At the end of the student’s time at Misericordia, the GPP program guarantees that you will graduate with a payed internship or job 6 months after graduation. Therefore, there is no fear that you will earn a degree and not have a job after loaning so much money. I am proud to be a student at Misericordia University. As a student from out of state (born and raised in Arizona), attending Misericordia University has been a very unique experience for me. The location has been comfortable, coming from a small town, so the location has not been overwhelmingly populated while still being close enough to other cities and shopping locations. MU also assisted in my decision to switch majors, and have been a Mass Communications student with a Philosophy minor since my sophomore year. Students with interests in the arts and and humanities, like myself, often feel as if they are not taken as seriously as other majors, such as health sciences. However, I feel that MU’s liberal arts approach embraces all student interests, including encouraging creativity while also helping students get to know the “real world” and how to approach the world from a realistic and economic perspective. Getting involved at MU has also been fairly easy and a welcome experience for me. The Mass Communications department is tight-knit but is welcoming of all students, and has job, classes, or club opportunities for students in and outside of the major. The arts are also embraced by the campus radio station (Cougar Radio), the Highlander newspaper, etc. I’ve participated in multiple groups and events on campus, and have found student employment on campus, along with researching, preparing for, and currently executing internships during my college career. I’m a firm believer that college is what you make it, and MU has helped me embrace all these passions that I’ve always had and has helped me move forward with the things that matter most to me.Destiny

Misericordia University has been my home away from home. I never second guess my choice of coming to school here. The occupational therapy program is one like no other. I take pride in my hard work and the teachers in my program and other faculty on staff are friendly, generous, and want to see every student succeed! Are you a working individual looking to earn a degree? Don’t go to Harrisburg Community College. This college uses Technology that is not easy to learn and I am good with Computers. Want to speak with a Advisor, well my advisor lives in South Carolina so I can only conduct a meeting via Zoom, the college is taking ALL personal interactions away. And working individuals…well i hope your not trying to spend any time with family and friends because I leave my 40 hour week job and I do school work for 5-8 hours a night and on my weekends. Forget about spending anytime with my wife and three children….I am taking 3 classes. Don’t ask the teachers a question, they just refer you to the syllabus…well clearly I am asking you a question because I didn’t understand it. I am military, yesterday I had duty and i didn’t get my project submitted, I logged in tonight to submit the project and the instructor removed the instructions, and locked the drop box so I couldn’t submit the assignment. I could keep going but I don’t have time…if your a working individual, don’t fall for the things they tell you.William Bricker

If I could give this institution a lower than one star rating, I would. For a community college, the course costs, books, and fees seem to be immense. I had professors who took half or more of the class periods to talk about themselves, personal topics and politics. I’ve also had professors assign English paper topics about personal things and I imagine he laughed at the student’s papers later in his free time. The required intro to college class professor had us playing with popsicle sticks and jars of rocks and sand. The certifying official for the VA office submitted my paperwork incorrectly. I dropped my classes and incurred debt because of how poorly the education at HACC is. They seem to be all about the money and not the education or students. I can’t even request a transcript for my new school because of “debts” to HACC. I no longer live in Pennsylvania and I am now attending a MUCH better school, and I am very glad. I would never recommend this school to anyone. This is not a good school, don’t waste your money and time.SMK3181

Most professors are nice but my overall experience was bad. I went here to try to accomplish a 2 year degree but every time course selection came around they didn’t have the classes I needed so I got stuck taking hardly any credits each semester. The majority of advanced classes are online only. They offer almost zero advanced courses in a classroom. So happy I made the decision to transfer. Not to mention how every time I scheduled a meeting with an advisor it either got cancelled without notice or they changed me to a new advisor who could not give me a single piece of useful advice.Kate

Where to start….. re-enrolling for business admin after a degree in admin. Pretty sure any of children in the children's center would have been better advisors than the first one I had as she passed me off to admissions, had no idea what she was talking about, and downright REFUSED to help me enroll in classes saying she "doesn't do that, you have to do that online but I can show you how on this computer." The next day the second gentleman was a little more helpful but again, got nowhere. Advising hold, needed a specific advisor for my program [he was the one to tell me that] but he at least got me a name. Meanwhile another advisor is emailing to set up an appointment [not the one I needed]. I contacted the one I needed, I'm not even eligible for that program due to a pre-req not being met [hours of time being wasted to find this out fyi]. Get in touch with the one that has been reaching out, my advising hold was magically lifted, no one claims to have done it, register for classes other guy cancels his appt, make payment #q all good now….. fast forward 2 weeks it's time to make payment #2. I go to the Bursar's office only to be turned away because the Bursar's office does not accept payments 😳😳. I'm starting to remember why I took an extremely long break and a long time to get my degree . I'm even contemplating paying the out of county fee to transfer up to LCCC…..Katie Fitzpatrick

Beginning of Fall Semester 2021, I was a P.T.K. honors, full scholarship recipient student here working on my second degree until I was profiled by one of the female EMT instructors who though it would be a great idea to complain to an armed police officer that I was in the hallway outside the classroom my oldest son (also a student at NCC) was attending. The officer (extremely nice and professional) instructed me not to wait for my son in the hallway anymore since one of "the female EMT instructor's" complained about me for waiting in the hallway, doing nothing wrong, but waiting for my son. The situation was quickly neutralized after showing the officer my credentials revealing to him that I myself am a EMS Chief as well as a NCC Student. The Fowler building has constant video surveillance on every floor if NCC staff wishes to investigate. This took place on the 3rd floor of the Fowler Center Building. I have since transferred as a result. I will no longer be attending or sending any of my children to NCC. Posting this now because of possible retaliation towards my son and I being NCC students at the time.John Rivera

On Friday May 31 2019 I did a self-guided tour of Northampton Community College. This was my first visit to this spacious campus. The campus is located about ten miles from downtown Bethlehem in a suburban almost country-like setting. The campus looked very modern to me. I walked through the sports building and there was a fitness center which was closed that day. Not sure if the school has a pool. There is also a north campus across the street. Student housing and Alumni Hall are located here. There are many parking lots and the school has its own campus police force. I cannot comment on the school itself since I did not go here nor do I know anyone that did.Richard K

I started the IT program last fall with an open mind. I'm almost done with my 1st year. I can honestly say that this has been the best experience I've ever had. The teachers care more about their students grades than the students themselves. They want nothing more than for you to succeed. The expectations were not unreasonable and the assignments really tested what I thought I knew about technology. I can't wait to see what the next year brings and I highly recommend everyone to take that next step and find a career that makes them happy. Experience at PSU main nearby but, have spoken with the school in 2016 – 2017 for a recent high school grad. That would be our daughter whom also personally spoke with the recruiter for this area at her high school and still receives other schooling and trainings though. She chose a more local college and didn't like it then in fall of 2017. She's been working pretty steadily in similar fields. Her exact interest was Senographer, I do believe. Im really glad I found this school to pursue my ultrasound career. The teachers and staff were amazing, our ultrasound teachers were there for us 100% of the time. Mary Beth stayed after class and tutored me almost everyday for a few hours. The faculty at this school truly care about their students and the education they are receiving, they go above and beyond to help us achieve our goals. I would highly recommend this program to anyone looking to go to school for ultrasound. They have a variety of machines to learn on as well as phantoms. I come for a massage every 2 to 3 wks and every student/massage therapist that I have had has been very professional, pleasant, knowledgeable and respectful but most importantly each person truly wants to be good at what they do! Great Lakes offers a wide variety of programs to get you started in the medical field. I toured the facility with the intent on becoming a nurse, but after seeing everything Great Lakes offered I am now working towards my associates in surgical technology. Only my third month here studying the Medical Assistant program and I can genuinely say I love this school. What makes this specific Lincoln Tech amazing is the staff, never a gloomy day. I've had three different instructors and they are great, super personable and humorous, it really completes the learning experience. Coming from a 2 year gap of not being in school, I was afraid of how I would transition but they made it very smooth and fun. My time at Lincoln Technical Institute has been great. The teachers form close relationships with the students and personally help every student strive to be better. The small classroom setting and accelerated course can help you form close relationships with fellow students who will support you along the way as well. To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation – his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick and Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existencial catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. HACC was the best choice I made when coming to school. In my first year I became a student worker, received awards, and was feeling confident about my schooling. Security makes the campus super safe and friendly. HACC has so much networking and has allowed me to receive an entry level position in my professional field. I am currently working part time as an actual HACC employee now after being a student worker for almost 2 years. There is room for growth in both education and employment. The HACC faculty/staff family is what keeps me going. Everyone in the Welcome Center is warm and caring. Financial aid is quick and efficient with everything they do. The advisors personally walk to other departments to find answers for their student's questions. The admissions are so helpful for new incoming students and current students. I can honestly only see I have only ever had one negative experience with processors and I've been here for 3 years. Even the Footnotes Cafe and Subway employees are warm and welcoming to all the students. It is definitely a place to be and a place to grow. I have recommended and assisted several friends with getting into school. And I will continue to recommend students to start here before paying more at the local 4 year schools in the general area!Brianna Carroll-Lugo

This is possibly the worst financial aid department I have ever worked with. The student "workers" have no knowledge on financial aid or their policies. I have never been so displeased with a department so much and to have to deal with them in order to go back for more education makes me reconsider my decision. My last encounter the student argued with me as I told him I was looking at my account as we were speaking. The conversation ended so poorly I dropped my classes and decided I will take my education elsewhere. For a community college I should not have expected any better I suppose. While he told me I should just go back to Millersville that is exactly what I will do. I would highly recommend pursuing your education elsewhere if you have the opportunity.Tasha Billett

HACC is a great school. It helps prepare you for future education. It is great for learners at all stages and ages. It is refreshing to have a place with Academia that has focus on the community and students. So many University and other colleges have their head stuck up their own academic snobbery. Switching to this school was the best decision I've made for myself! PCI is so inviting, from the teachers you get close with, to the fun random days that make us enjoy coming to class, all while learning up close and personal with my desired career, you get the most wonderful experience. I have been attending Pittsburgh Career Institute for about 9 months now and it has been a very rewarding experience. I am enrolled in the vet tech program. From the very first day, at orientation, I felt fully welcomed and liked by the entire staff. We have an amazing group of instructors that truly care about seeing you succeed, but, you have to put the effort in. It is an extremely fast paced and overwhelming program…but if it is a career you are truly invested in, you make it work. I am in the dental program & it has been a great overall experience for the most part! Great staff from what I’ve experienced in my program, & great students here to make the experience enjoyable. Let me just start out that the whole college isn't bad, just the staff that are meant to help students. Since August of 2019 I have been trying to get help in the classroom because of a learning disorder that's been documented by a doctor and all paperwork submitted correctly. I have received no aid whatsoever. They don't care about the students that need aid. I was in this school for two semesters, when I was in college, and I learned and had a nice GPA. It's a small school, and some teachers are really nice to you. The owner would greet students with Milano biscuits when I was there. But it has a problem it's very small, there is a security problem sometimes. It is not a school to make friends. Is this a college? It looks like a failing business. My daughter was interested in this school, but after visiting the school, she changed her mind. The school is a parking garage. There is no campus. The school is 1 building, surrounded by other buildings. The college CANNOT expand if it is fully surrounded (where is this college future?) The college is also on probation and might lose its accreditation. This 1 building/ Parking garage is low quality and offers VERY limited majors. This is the "WORST COLLEGE" on my daughter's college list. Everyone deserves better than Harrisburg University. I don't understand how they are attracting students.They are probably accepting students with low high school GPAs or maybe the students are the children of the administrators. Those who are looking to go to Medical School or something of that nature, beware. I spent three years at this school and I enjoyed it. I know everyone and I got to know my professors at a deeper level. The professors are also willing to give useful feedback and advice; however, I was told by Admissions in 2011 that this school had strong connections for people looking into going to Med School, and my mom and I were convinced that HU would be able to accommodate my needs. I must say that this school is more for Tech students. There are a TON of opportunities/guest speakers/ etc. that are available. Although, there is very little for science students. Not EVERYONE can (wants) to intern at the Coroner's office. Before I left, I helped establish a need for a Pre-Med major and I'm hoping that it won't be run into the ground. I can't stick around and waste my time with people on the 14th floor who are still on the fence though, so I decided to transfer after my junior year… Just something to consider.Brittany

I have been associated with Harrisburg University for more than 6 months now and my experience has been really good. The university faculty and staff do a very impressive job at keeping the focus on course curriculum. The executive program is an added advantage to working students & who want to pursue higher education along with their busy work life. My son goes here for IT and cyber security and he loves it. I love the size of the campus, the buildings are new, neat, clean, very up to date. The student center, campus shop and gym are my favorite. They have a state of the art gym. The restaurants on campus are great, many areas to sit and relax outside. This is not a Christian University!! To be clear, I hold no ill feelings towards anyone or any group of people. I came to Messiah University to be educated while also growing in my faith and relationship with God. I believe in the Bible, and I believe in God’s Word. If He says it is wrong, then it is. If He says it is right, then it is. 1. Messiah University’s Biblical Beliefs. My experience with biblical studies at this school is the reason I left. I took a Bible course called Encountering the Bible with Professor Eric Seibert. Professor Eric Seibert taught the class and I that certain parts of the Bible were not true and that there were errors in the Bible. Included in his reading packet he assigned to us were a few pages from a book he wrote himself called “Disturbing Divine Behavior.” When I saw the title of his book, I was deeply disturbed. How dare someone call the behavior of God, the Alpha and Omega, “disturbing?” Eric Seibert has another book called, “The Violence of Scripture: Overcoming the Old Testament’s Troubling Legacy.” There were several things said in this class, and I ended up having to walk out because I could not bear to hear it any longer. There was another student in my class who raised their hand to say that they were questioning everything they ever believed in. The Encountering the Bible class with Eric Seibert really traumatized me and had me questioning my foundational beliefs. I was able to strengthen my faith once again with the help of my family and friends who felt the same. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A FOUNDATIONAL COURSE THAT MOST STUDENTS WILL NEED TO TAKE AT SOME POINT. 2. Messiah University’s Lack of Reverence to God. Within the first few weeks of being on campus, I was already starting to see different signs that showed me Messiah University did not show reverence to God. The school put the new students into many groups where we did various activities. One activity included the option to make a skit for the new students to see. My group picked the skit activity which was to make a joke out of scripture. One person in my group was to play Jesus while another was to play the woman who washed his feet. Instead, they planned to pretend to polish the toenails as a joke to basically mock scripture. I wanted no part of it, so I left. I write this review because I am very disappointed in the way things transpired at this school. My father went to this school in the 90s and he was even more disappointed. I was trying to figure things out for my first year of college while also trying to keep my faith strong in a school where I felt I was constantly being attacked. I am thankful that God guided me with the Holy Spirit to know when something wasn’t right, when I needed to leave the room and finally when I needed to leave Messiah University.Timothy 3:16 -

For a college that claims to be Christian, they certainly don't do a good job portraying it once you are locked into a semester. They make it seem so nice and wonderful and highlight all the good parts about the college in the showcases, but after that you get rammed with secular thoughts and ideas. Their explanation for this is that they want to be an open Christian society. The whole point behind being a Christian is to stand out from the crowd, and not bending to the outside as much as they do. I'm not the only one with these experiences, I have come across NUMEROUS young adults that aren't happy there, and the only reason they stay is because they are getting a free ride or they are being forced to by parents. Watching history professor John Fea on CSPAN today, discussing the Enlightenment with his class. I went to Westmont College myself, similar to Messiah as a liberal arts college. I am stunned by the low scoring comments here, stating grievances about how a liberal arts education is somehow anti-Christian. The dogma that the Religious Right pushes is frankly a calculated attack on the biases of religious people to push them further toward a singular ideology that does not resemble the message of Jesus. Campus Tour whew lol. We have been on quite a few. A sigh of relief too not have to do anymore. Overall its a small campus. Which I believe for most students especially incoming Freshmen would like to not feel like a number and be swallowed up. To feel like you can get the assistance you really need. We were able to see inside classrooms and also a mock student room. Our student tour guide I believe her name was Yasmeen. Did an excellent job. She was rushed with us because we had another engagement. Though she did give detailed information at every location. With that she was well informed and gave us a well rounded look at tye campus. Also she gave us some insight into some things we were unaware of. Overall I think we are sold 😆.LaTrenda

Penn State Harrisburg is the largest Penn State non-University Park campus and is 100% back to its pre-COVID strength. There is a newly built train stop & boarding platform just across from the main campus entrance and HIA, the Harrisburg regional airport, is also just across from campus and an entrance to the state turnpike system is just a couple miles away.. Well away from huge urban areas, this campus is very safe and secure. Very diverse educational experience with a strong multi-USA state and international student presence. You will almost be guaranteed to see someone that looks like you!Robert Higbee

The experience. The people. These can go both ways. I attended this campus for 2 years and it was both a positive and negative experience. The biggest thing that threw me off was that Penn State HARRISBURG was in MIDDLETOWN. Make it make sense? the campus is nice and cozy with an ample amount of parking with parking passes. Not as much for free parking. The school has the spirit and heart of University Park and would highly suggest going here to get a different type of experience from University Park. The campus is small enough to the point where it is not difficult at all to get around. I've never had any issues with parking here, and I usually had close spots; even if they were filled, it is not a long walk at all to get to the campus from the further spots as compared to the Newtown campus. The teachers here are pretty good for the most part and I don't have complaints about them. The campus itself is pretty clean. It is being renovated now and the main building is being expanded, but I had a good experience here overall. Unfortunately because of the small size of this campus the classes also fill quickly, and many of the classes you might need aren't offered here at the moment and as such you will likely have to go to the main campus in Newtown.Dan

Great campus and teachers. Security guard however (the rent a cop with a beard) is a total tool. Tried to give me a hard time for tinted windows in my car mind you he has no authority to give me a ticket and doesn't even know the law correctly (yet approached me with that entitled cop attitude)The guy is just a pompous prick who if he's not on his cell phone will be looking for students to harass. I like the campus though, always clean and close to 95 so I can get there quickAlex P

Staff at both campuses are not helpful at all. Usually just tell you "I don't know" and expect you to figure everything out. Financial aid takes forever and no one that works there seems to help. Professors are typically good but the advisors and other staff are useless when you try to call to get information.Erica Vanhart

I wish I could give this place 0 stars!! I started the EMT Program in January and was supposed to take the NREMT April 27th. I was actually doing very good with quizzes, tests, and even hands on! No issues at all with that. Then they told us about FISDAP exams. We thought they wouldn’t be too bad because we knew the criteria. WRONG! They had NOTHING to do with what we learned. They gave real life situations and left out a lot of details and wanted us to guess what the issue was. If you fail the second time you get kicked from the program. 21 students started in the class, now there’s only 9!!! NINE!! I passed the first FISDAP exam but failed the second one. My friend failed the first one and was told she could potentially do it a third time, and RUSS ENGLE called her and was completely ignorant! Saying we didn’t need study sessions. We didn’t need tutors, that we were supposed to know the information. This school has nothing but ignorant people but there’s a few guests such as Liz and Louis who were very amazing with showing hands on. Then they expect us to pay the rest of the tuition after kicking us out. My other friend just got kicked from the program today for “being tardy” when she wasn’t. They’re nothing but scammers and I highly recommend you DO NOT go here. If all of this doesn’t say something about this school and program, I don’t know what else does. Find a different school to pursue your program. This one is nothing but a waste of time!Alyssa Ferguson

The programs and faculty are world class when it comes to education in medical imaging. The curriculum is thorough and the staff does an EXCELLENT job preparing graduates for their new careers. Even though they are new to the field, the graduates of these programs are extremely knowledgeable and demonstrate outstanding clinical competence.Daniel Wetzel

I went through this program and I can say that I felt very prepared. We were taught Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular, and Pediatric ultrasound. The sites that we were sent to helped to cultivate well-rounded, knowledgeable, and capable technologists. Our instructors were brilliant and challenged us to be the best we could be.Christy V.
