20 Best Psyd Programs In Boston, MA (2022 Updated)

If i could legit give ZERO STARS, I would. This is NOT… I repeat NOT a good school. If you are design/business major the staff do NOT work with you and the accommodations are a joke. You have to re-do them all again next semester. Secondly… the RA's #do not do their job. We had a huge issue in our dorm building and restrictions had been in place for the people who were causing the issues not to come back into the building. The RA's allowed them back into the building, saying they were… "Safe" to be in the building. The building muse is even WORSE. the staff there don't take care of all the fights and drug use that happens there. Two of my friends were sexually assaulted in that building and left Radford because of it. I can't speak for other dormatories, but Muse and Trinkle are NO GO'S. People are very rude and try to start drama with you and also… if you do come to this school, please PLEASE lock your bedroom doors…. people like to steal! Also the graduate teachers are the WORST. I've had a few, all if whom didn't like their students. They're mucj younger teachers, fyi. I only have one grad student professor who is a decent human being. Also people here are really racist. There's so much racism and fights here, it's insane. It's better to pick another school if possible, Especially when it comes to safety. The staff do NOT care about your safetyM B

Radford University is a great place to go to college for someone that is looking for a great education, great facilities, an exciting campus life, and a friendly and united community. As an international student I've had a great experience in my two years that I've been studying at Radford. The faculty is great, well knowledgeable in their subjects, and are always willing to help you, the student life on and off campus is fun, the smaller class sizes enable you to learn better and enable you to get to know your professors, the campus is beautiful, the facilities are mostly modern and well equipped. The university is constantly investing and working in improving the quality of education, the competitiveness of the school, and resources that we have, and it is clearly getting better every time. I would definitely recommend anyone to come to RU an experience what I have experienced so far.Ivan Thirion

This school is truly a fraud! They are claiming to support the military and Join the Yellow Ribbon Program to get the recognition but the actual support is not even pennies against this multi-million dollar school. This program was built to assist in financially supporting Military and Family Members to attend schools out-of-state and abroad at a rate comparable, if not equal, to in-state students and help overcome the hardships of military families constantly moving in support of our nations freedom. It is a joke they are calling themselves Yellow Ribbon Program members; offering a measly $1000 against a $25,000 annual out-of-state tuition difference. Then to offer it to only 2 undergraduates and 2 graduates in a school of over 10,000!!….Really? I can get a better military discount at Waffle House! They are making a mockery of a Program that is TRULY built to SUPPORT our troops!!!John Chisolm

My son recently graduated from this college. He transferred in from a 2 year college so he was only there for 5 semesters. Things started okay but went downhill. Communication quickly became a problem. We had issues from professors, finance and counseling. It became so bad that to get anything done we had to cc the Dean in any messages that we sent. I also know of someone else who had to do the same thing. The last semester was the worst. He was enrolled as a full time student but when the bill came through it was in correct. We got loans for the first amount but had to get additional loans after the semester ended. No one sent an email we had to check the account because my son never received an email or his diploma. When we were notified by the finance department they told us we had to fix it. Numerous emails were sent to many different people but nothing was ever fixed. We finally resent the emails and cc’d the Dean and it finally got fixed. The college also changed the advisor without notifying us that it had changed. My son had to find his own internship and figure his classes out on his own. My daughter had the same issues with communication. She was signed up to go but never heard back. She then got a call from the advisor asking why she never showed up. The advisor had enrolled her in classes but never told her. She ended up not going. If you choose this college they will take your money but you will have to do a lot of work to make sure they are on top of things.Todd Crossett

I graduated from Roberts last year and I had a great experience. I do agree with some reviews that communication is not always great, but as long as you are proactive and take an active approach to your education here, you'll do wonderfully. The staff and students are very respectful and the professors seem to really care about you and your overall success. It is a nice size campus, not too busy and not too small. I went to undergrad here and loved it. There were always opportunities to learn outside of class, meet people through activities, and my professors knew who I was. Annoying town to live in. Southern hospitality doesnt exist in Boone. Its full of stuck up hippies. Counting down the days till I transfer to Colorado. If you're transferring here, good luck. My girlfriend has been petitioning classes that they haven't counted since she first got here. They're screwing her out of 27 credit hours that she finished at her old school. Math department is atrocious. I'm in college algebra now and the teacher lost my first test because she took priority in grading a 2 page paper on success before she graded the test. Also, if you're coming here to watch football, the atmosphere sucks. More than half of the crowd is out of the stadium before halftime. Hardly anyone actually cares about the team, they just use it as an excuse to tailgate and get trashed in a public parking lot.Chris King

Was a very good experience. Best was the faculty, who are from all over the country and internationally as well. I attended another college for a second degree after ASU and had a bad experience which really highlighted how superior ASU's instruction and advice really was. They do not waste your time. If there was a downside, it was probably the fact that many of the students are from western North Carolina, so some of the perspectives were a bit of a culture shock for me. They have several excellent programs, particularly business, music, education, art, as well as some unusual programs like communications disorders.JW41926

Attending this school has been the worst experience that I have EVER had! From advisor who do not know what they are doing to transcript office personal that have very bad attitudes and are extremely rude. They also "conveniently" forget to post important dates that student need to know. After finally graduating from this school a year late, I will NEVER encourage anyone to attend this school. But, I would encourage everyone who currently attends this school to get out while they are ahead! IC is composed of an amazing group of kids, many of whom have diverse interests. There's opportunities to learn new skills, from forestry to billiards to religion to music to dance. The town is made up of a smorgasbord of people who love conversation and will show you new parts of the world. There is no shortage of opportunity here and if you apply yourself and find what is right for you, there is a home at IC for you. While I enjoyed my time at IC, I can admit it was a challenge for me to find my footing here. Ithaca College is a great place for upper-middle white class folks in athletics. It's also great for the sociable types. But for true academics it can often fall short of being challenging or engaging. The teachers are fantastic, but the coursework is bland. There are a lot of preppy people, very fake people, but mostly just a population of people still trying to find themselves, which is normal. It can often be hard to find the right friends. But the community is huge, and you will find them if you try. The politics at IC (not the coursework but the administration) is rocky at best and getting rockier. IC needs to figure out their priorities and give the students (who put themselves into massive debt to attend this college) a good governing body who take pay cuts to give scholarships and better food and healthcare options. Also, on politics: Not only is the Ithacan so far left they nearly circle around back to right, but the entire political atmosphere is made up of so many people with so little real-world applicaple knowledge that it definitely put a weird taste in my mouth. White feminism is rampant. Otherwise it's a great school for communications, music, environmental studies, outdoor education, and business. If you want a liberal arts degree I would recommend another school. Utilize office hours. The teachers are amazing and filled with knowledge. Talk in class. Have discussions. Go off campus. Jump into a gorge. Stay for a summer! Have fun!Sarah Bear

A beautiful campus…that's about it. Don't look for friendly as you will only find phony. Got a great welcoming letter from Park School but when my son needed help, "Oh, we don't do that." Then called again, woman who sent welcoming letter with her home phone, cell phone and office phone provided on business card attached to the letter is no longer at the school. Son had no advisor, as advisor left school. No life line at this school. My son found school to be an elitist, obnoxious place. We wish he had never heard of Ithaca. Accommodations and view was amazing, BUT it would have been better if there was not so many stairs to get to and back from places. It really took a toll on my body especially being hurt prior to staying. Please consider escalators or some type of transportation for throughout the college like golf carts or something.John Seidel

I work here as staff and find the working environment pretty good. My bosses have been good, my coworkers are dependable, and the students seem well behaved and conscientious (most of the time). The new buildings are nice, and the harbor walk is kind of amazing, and the beach is very chill. Good luck finding a place as tranquil anywhere else near the city. There is however one small con and one big con.. the small con is that there aren't that many places to eat and Sodexo runs all the food on campus, and their attempts at ethnic foods are sad. And the aforementioned big con is that there is no less than 3 buildings being built on this tight peninsula right now, and one huge building that was taken down over the year I've been here.. the construction is a mess. Though the new, finished buildings, like the science complex, are great. But if you can take the T somehow, as I do, this place is fantastic.Mikhail M. Nitko

UMASS Boston has a Beautiful campus on the waterfront! It is building two Brand new buildings as student housing with a dinning hall on the first floor, overlooking the Boston harbor with a million dollar view. UMASS Boston has a collaborative research program with Dana Farber Cancer Institute that students can be a part of. I love the new Integrated science center, incubating many New exciting NIH sponsored science research studies. It is an exciting time for UMASS Boston which has a new chancellor with generous scholarship. Chancellor merit scholarship will allow students to get world class education for free.Khuong Nguyen

I am a student here at UMB, the professors are great. The administration is bureaucratic and inefficient and lacks transparency on any basic level. Parking here is dependent upon arrival time. If you get here at 10:20 good luck finding a space in bayside, probably will have to park at the globe. Clinical placement sites for Nursing are good, labs are good, the school is constantly under construction and areas are always being blocked off. Parking will soon cost between 9-15 dollars a day according to emails from the uni. So it’s alright but the university is slowly draining the life of its commuters.Bill Whitney

I have graduated with five degrees from four different universities in Pittsburgh ranging from Bachelor to Doctorate degrees. I can honestly state that Duquesne was my favorite school. I received a higher quality of education and benefitted more from the smaller classes which are not offered by other schools. Most of my educators actually cared about their students and were not at all condescending (ok, there were a couple). Duquesne costs a bit more, but it was worth it. The campus is great. The classrooms; halls; and grounds are clean, traditional, and safe. My child chose to go to another school, but I would sleep better knowing that was living on campus at Duquesne rather than an apartment in Oakland. The only criticism I have is Duquesne has become more noticeably politically liberal than other Catholic schools. I’m ok with limited expression of personal liberal or conservative views, but I am disappointed when those views become a driver for the facility and administration to influence students. Some of those views have reached national attention which lowers my annual donations to the school.Jerry

We went for a campus tour today and absolutely fell in love with the campus. We are from the Pittsburgh area and I never expected the campus to be as big and charming as it is. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and the student:teacher ratio (14:1) with an average class size of 28 was a major bonus. The dorms are 2 bed frames with a desk and closet for each roommate with 2 drawers under the bed as well. They're spacious and clean. They have an amazing 4 floor workout building with every piece of equipment you could ever need! It truly is a hidden gem right in the downtown area. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city but still close enough to enjoy downtown amenities. I don't see how any other college could top this!!Melanie Phillips

I AM NOT A STUDENT. IM A TOURIST I toured this beautiful school yesterday. It was absolutely beautiful. To walk around seeing so much scripture. So many things to inspire young minds and hearts to Christ. I did not get a chance to walk around the entire campus but the places I did see were amazing. My tour guide was Robert Vann. He knew a lot of history and important things about the school. He probably knew the mission statement if I asked him. He took us into the Chapel and had so many great things to say about it. He also said, the school was a safe place for Christians. The professors and staff, knew Jesus. Frfr. They encourage a relationship with Christ. He has never been around so many different ethnicities fully in worship together. It reminded him of Heaven. He saw that we are all the same. The school opened the eyes of his heart to so many different beautiful things about ALL of the people of God. I’m not gone lie, I don’t wanna say that I would ever move back to Virginia. And I do not like school. However, after seeing the school, and hearing the Words of Mr. Vann, it makes me want to consider attending Regent. I could not have chosen a better university to finish my education as well continue with. My professors are very understanding and compassionate because we need that today in the world we live in. Even if you aren't a Christian the respect and just humbleness of all my professors and even peers has been extremely outstanding . I am speechless. My professors pray for me and at times that's what I needed the most. The School work had true meaning and purpose. You aren't just going to school just to go to school. All of it has meaning. First, let me say I'm so glad I choose Regent University to study. The Professors, staff, and administration made you feel welcome. My past two years there are ones I'll cherish. The biblical principles and education I received have equipped me to go out and change the world. The Professors care about your well-being just as much as your academic development. I came here on a full tuition scholarship and spent most of my time on academic probation. Why? Because when I went to the enrollment adviser and told her that I was probably going to fail computer science, she told me that if I dropped the class that I would not be full time and not eligible for my scholarship. After I failed the class, she told me that I could have made up the credits over the summer. This tanked my GPA, but maybe she felt bad about the bad advice, which is why I probably kept my scholarship even though I was under the GPA. This school is basically a good place to go if you know what you want to do and just need a degree to do it. All in all, this is a decent school, but you have to be focused and advocate for yourself as advisement is sub par. If so, you will be fine. The clubs and activities are great. Food sucks! It's not the worst school, but they just don't have anything that really justifies their tuition price. They're not significantly cheaper than other schools in the area and it's not a big name to people. The nursing program is supposed to be one of their best programs available but no one even talks about or recommends it. I work in healthcare in Wayne maybe 5 minutes from the campus and I feel it's pretty telling that every doctor I work with would sooner recommend Rutgers, Seton Hall or Montclair State. I never had much issue with any professors but the school's counseling and academic advisement teams are a joke. Overall, I don't think it would be a bad place to get a degree but probably wouldn't come back. Other schools nearby seem to have more to offer, a higher standard of quality, and most importantly they come with a name people want to hire from.Justin G

I would not suggest this college for people who are full time working adults. Very limited class times offered, hardly any night classes and 90% of classes are not offered online…even general education courses! They are also very unwilling to work with you if you cannot make a class during any of the times they offer. Most schools will allow you to take the class at another credited college and transfer the credits…WPU does not, not even for general education classes like math! I asked about taking three different classes at another school because of their limited class times and I got the same exact answer EVERY time…it must be taken at WPU. Why does a basic level math course have to be taken at WPU when you accepted my math class transfers from another school when I initially transferred in?!Jessica Henry

I have been a student of DePaul University – Law College since 2019. Before joining DePaul I was contemplating between DePaul and other Universities, I am so happy I made the right choice to join DePaul. Not only is it a prestigious University with many famous alumni names, but also because it is a University that has made the list of the top best Universities for many years. Depaul has the best facility you can hope to study under, the administration are very helpful and my advisor, is one of the best, always available whenever I needed assistance, guidance or help. If you are a graduate of DePaul, you can be sure that employers will want to add you to their staff. Being part of DePaul, is being part of a large educational family. There are two campuses, the main one is located in Lincoln Park and the other one is located in the Loop, right in the heart of the business hub, if you are attending College of Law or College of Business. There are two huge libraries in the Loop campus, with access to Starbucks, as well as to, Barnes and Nobles. In both Colleges you have cafeterias amd study lounges. There is a Toastmasters club at DePaul and many other groups and clubs to join. Also, DePaul offers a help center, fpr students who may need extra help with certain classes, as well as, a writing center for whenever you need your essays reviewed, with feedback and assistance in improving it before submission. With all of the above and more, I could not possibly list all of the things DePaul os known for, or offers, but I can tell you one thing, if you happen to choose DePaul and become accepted, be sure you are part of the many successful people who will graduate with pride. You can be a full fledged patriotic American, but just because your parents travel and you may have a foreign transcript (from high school/ middle school) you are deemed an international student. To add insult to injury this particular issue entailed the student already having graduated from a neighboring community college. Yet still, they are deemed international. An obvious protocol set in place to guzzle money out of the student. Wasn’t even thrilled about their level of academics to begin with, so not having this school as an option isn’t a loss in the slightest for our family. Hispanic Heritage event went on without a hitch. Free of Problems and controversy. Entertainment was Great Food was Awesome. The Highlight was the introduction of the Main Speakers The New Era Young Lord's. Also some Associates and Friends from there Early Year's. The Bomba group provided good Entertainment and a Festive Atmosphere. In the Middle Sixties you could count the Minorities attending DePaul. The all played on the Basketball team. Vast improvements have been made. Opening Enrollment and and Opputunity. We can Thank Groups like the Young Lord's who brought to the light the Contridiction's. Great Job Latino Students.Rory Guerra

Harvard is one of the most prestigious universities in the World and every one wishes to visit it once in a life time. I had this chance to go there and walk around this beautiful institute. The good thing is that it is open for all and everyone could go around and visit. I saw many tourists there enjoying walking and taking photos. The good thing which I liked was that seeing people doing Yoga in the open space and in nature. I liked that and participated with them in yoga. I loved the library and the story behind it. Unfortunately wasn’t able to go inside but would have loved to. It’s unfortunate that I have to write this review but I am in hopes of MCPHS revising their admissions process for the Physician Assistant Program. I know that I was not the only student this year that was invited to interview and then closed out of an interview spot and placed on a waiting list. When I contacted MCPHS they told me that I may not get to interview after all as they had accidentally invited too many people to interview and did not have the resources to open up more interview dates even though acceptances are not on a rolling basis. How does a top tier medical university not have the resources to interview all the students they invited? By choosing to interview solely the people that happened to secure spots first, not only are they limiting the potential of their incoming class and proving that they only care about filling the spots for monetary reasons, but they are limiting the future of numerous successful students who worked hard to get an interview invitation. When I asked Jordan Hunt (admissions counselor) to make sense of this she was unable to provide a competent answer besides that the university messed up and the incoming students are the ones facing the repercussions. I’m not writing this for myself, but for the other students who were too timid to speak up or who had chosen this school as their top choice and then got screwed. I truly feel bad for some of the other incoming students who do not have other options and were relying on MCPHS. I am very disappointed. MCPHS either needs to change their interviewing process to rolling acceptances (interviewing the top tier students first and then going down the line) or they need to use this model but be willing to open up more dates in case of overflow. Side note: They informed me that students on the waiting list could be notified up to a day before an interview that a spot had opened up. Do they not take into consideration that everyone doesn’t live near Boston or works full-time? Extremely dissatisfied with this supposedly “top tier” medical college.Maddy Frank

Hey guys, good for all the students giving great remarks. I don't know if the school has paid you. I must say i was in the nursing program , ( the set that started 2005) the teachers were very bad. Everything was very difficult, out of 50 students that got into the nursing program only 15 students or even less that graduated from the program. Judy Murphy was very racist, no room for improvement. It was a very bad school. I will recommend another school any day any time as matter off fact the school needs to refund money back to students that paid for tuition. All they care about is your money and not the students. It was a very traumatic experience. It was one of the worst decision i have ever made in life to attend that college. I Owe up to 100,000 in debt with no nursing degree to show for. I thank the Almighty God i got my degree from another school with no stress or frustration. Guys open your eyes and look for another school. I just finished my second-year in PharmD program in MCPHS. I’m gonna transfer to Worcester to study the accelerated program. I have had great time in MCPHS so far. All professors are very nice and friendly. I haven’t met any professor who’s not willing to help student wholeheartedly. They always have office hours to answer students’ inquiries and to clarify the lecture in case the students don’t understand. There are absolutely no discrimination in MCPHS. It’s all about respect. Every MCP student is very welcoming so we have a very close-knit community in MCP. The program is well-designed and bearable. Sometime I feel overwhelmed but it’s not impossible to pass as many people say. You just need to put time and effort and you’ll be fine. In short, MCPHS is a great university for those who seriously pursuit a professional career in pharmacy and health sciences.Bill Nguyen

Education major. I enjoyed my classes and the instructors. I overpaid for what is really a worthless degree because school districts do not want experienced teachers. The issue is experienced teachers have higher salaries compared to new teachers. So while the university can claim a certain job placement rate, the situation changes after a few years on the job. Considering all the money education students have paid Loyola University Maryland, I have never heard about Loyola lobbying for better working conditions for teachers. That's crummy. Every entity wants to take, take, take from education majors but never give back to help our community. I had to pay for my own teaching internship. I thought that was normal at the time, but it's not. Other majors get paid to intern. Do not waste your money on an education degree. Enter teaching via Teach for America or Urban Educators instead. Or better yet, avoid the profession. Please check into the turnover rate.Share D

From the perspective of an African American student, I want to warn potential minorities. I did not experience a really good first year at this school. The professors are not as great as they have told you. At least for the freshman year. A couple of the professors I had, never returned papers and won't send emails. Many times they would change the syllabus and give you last minute assignments. I struggled a lot even with all the extra time I spent on all the classes and getting tutored. This disappointment I encountered has occurred to other freshman students as well. Don't be fooled by the lovely campus now. That's what drew me at first. Not only am I transferring, but soooo many others are also. Be far warned and save some money also. Side note, many Class of 2020 freshman have experienced some unpleasant people. My son is graduating this May and we were extremely pleased with the college. The campus is like a park! My son put a great deal into the College and got back what he put in, a great education, great experiences, a great professional network and great friends. The private school setting adds the lifetime camaraderie. It's small enough that you can actually get to know your professors, yet big enough for professional opportunities. Being in Baltimore and so close to DC, you cannot lose for internships and jobs. Good luck to all! I've watched 25 graduating classes at Rivier. I've watched Rivier grow from an all girl's college to a coed college, and from a college to a university, from typing classes to computer classes and from graduate programs to doctoral programs. I've taken classes at Rivier and had the opportunities to change my mind for the better. I've worked in Housekeeping, Public Safety, Grounds, Maintenance and the Mail room. I can honestly say that most of the workers try to go above and beyond the call of duty by taking care of all the little details for students, staff, faculty and administration. We cater to our students and that's what we do. Rivier is like a place your mom taught you the world is supposed to be like. I will forever be indebted to all of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary for taking time to make sure I was OK, that I felt a part of the community and that I was appreciated for my efforts. I love all of the Sisters of Presentation of Mary as they have helped me to change my heart to do the best I can do, be the best I can be and to serve the world as best I can. Rivier University is the biggest regret I've made thus far for a secondary education institution. The Student Financial Services have let me down more than once, resulting in missed opportunities for financial help or gave me no notification if I owed the school money until I did/do. They sent my financial aid refund to me then three days later contacted me stating they needed it back, that they had made an error sending it to me. I had reached my loan limit with no warning given that the funds weren't available for me to enroll, that I'd pay out of pocket if I continued with my registration. If you decide to attend Rivier University in Nashua, NH then I suggest a special private financial aid provider and a personal accountant.Keitha Shideler

WORST college/university in the state! They care more about the cosmetics and appearance of their campus then they do about the actual education of their students! I have spent waaayyyy to much money here to be treat this unfairly and to get a less than adequate education! It's a good 4 year university for commuters and fairly cheap compared to other 4 year universities around the Boston area. I am going into my 4th year now at Salem State and I can say if you don't have a morning class you better leave early for parking because there's simply not enough.Evett Ruiz

Lovely campus, with almost 9000 acres! Huge trees and grand lawns frame Gothic architecture which themselves house state-of-the-art labs and lecture halls. Duke's research grants are famous for being generous, even for undergraduate students. Keep in mind, though, that the admissions rate is very very low, so you probably won't get in.Ameya Majmudar

Definitely live on campus if you are looking for the full college experience. I've lived here for 3 years as an undergraduate and the facilities are very nice and the people very helpful. It's easy to find a job through the university and the research opportunities in science blow many other universities out of the water. Scholarships are also abundant if you know where to look and ask around. Professors range from fantastic to poor like at any university. I believe there are over 300 organizations and clubs to get involved in and always neat things like movies playing, dances, carnivals, etc, you just have to know to look for them. The campus is beautiful, especially in the spring and summer when the fountain is going and everyone is lounging outside. IUPUI is what you make of it, and getting involved is the best way to experience it.Amber Goad

As a 36-year old student who is employed full time and has a growing family to support going back to school to get a degree, I am mostly pleased with the experience of the last full school year. I've had a couple of lousy instructors, but for the most part I really enjoy the instructors I've had. I'm learning a lot of important information that will help me as an employee. I am currently a junior at IUPUI. Year after year I am always excited to come back to school! The campus is modern and in the middle of the city! There is always an event happening somewhere on campus, so you are always having the college experience. I love IUPUI and I think that it is the best university ever!Payton

I attended the reunion this weekend as a husband. It was an overall pleasurable experience. The campus itself is very nice and meticulously maintained. Bathroom facilities adequate but nothing extraordinary. The BBQ on Saturday afternoon was nice because it was on campus in a very nice area. Music a bit loud for mid afternoon. Food, not great. I really liked the coozie they gave out. The class party Saturday night for the 10 year peeps was fascinating. It was inside a recreation center which seemed like an odd choice given the plethora of really nice areas on campus. The food selection there I thought was good but many in the group strongly disagreed with that sentiment. The tortellini was on point even tho it seemed to light a bit of a fire under my seat if you catch my drift. I was a little disappointed at all events that I had to pay 7$ for a bud light after already purchasing tickets. I will say we popped over to the 5 year reunion and wow, what a treat that event was. Overall it was a nice weekend, BC seemed to do my wife well as she is very smart. Her friends are also very cool. So I would recommend the college. We may send our kids there if my plan to hit the lottery multiple times comes to fruition. Mods for life.Joseph Moran

This review is just the physical campus and has nothing to do with the school's curriculum or getting accepted into the University. That said, this is the most beautiful campus I have ever seen in my life. It was a complete surprise and got me completely off guard. All of the buildings have the same gothic, sandstone color vibe. The first thing I will say about this school is that the student population is one of the rudest and meanest student populations in the country. Everyone I have met at this place is all about appearing cool and smart, and if you don't go to school here you are looked down upon. The dorms are absolutely terrible here and most buildings are made of concrete. Most state universities are the pride of the state but I don't think people view UMass that way. The school used to have friendly students and a low tuition/fees, now it is the exact opposite. When you go to Umass you are paying for a college experience, your not paying for a quality education. Public schools are a major part of the downfall of society, and this school is a perfect example of a school doing that. Every time I have been on this campus I am not acknowledged and if you don't conform to Umass standards you are an outsider. I understand education is important but the students/staff could at least show some respect to people outside their clique of Umass society. Umass has gotten better in some aspects but in many aspects it is still failing. It is not a open minded campus. I think most people who leave this school are so absorbed into a career mindset that they forget that life is about more than just a career and income. A major problem with universities especially UMass is people choose a very narrow path of education. People should be interested in many different fields of knowledge rather than what their major is. Education continues after leaving a school but Umass acts like it ends when you leave school.Jessie Robinson

Great college and infrastructure. This is one of the largest university in New England and very good for computer science and related fields. pros: Good university with excellent infrastructure and ideal environment for student life. Most of the buildings are new and in good condition. Since there is a large student body, you will find many different kinds of student activities like sports activities and other extra curricular activities. I graduated from Widener in May, 2015. I was a transfer student to Widener so I was only there for two years, but for the two years I was there, it was great! I was in the B.S. Biology program so I can only speak for the sciences at Widener and I have to say Widener has a great biology program. All my teachers were easily accessible, willing to help me out, and always wanted me to succeed. There are plenty of research opportunities for anyone looking and there are a ton of clubs to get involved in. Widener also has a pre-health adviser (who is the nicest and most dedicated person ever) and pre-health committee who do their utmost to help those who want to pursue professional careers in healthcare; this makes Widener an excellent school for anyone wanting to go into healthcare. I enjoyed all my classes at Widener and felt like I learned a lot there. Widener is very expensive (but it is a private school, what do you except) however they offer a lot of scholarships and grants which reduced my tuition considerably, the cost of attending Widener for me was actually cheaper than West Chester University. Another big plus for Widener is class registration. I know it can be difficult to register for classes at other schools but at Widener they make it very easy for you and most if not all the teachers are willing to sign you into a class in order to help you which is a huge bonus. My only two complaints about Widener is….one: the registrar and bursar office a.k.a Lipka Hall is the most atrocious place on the campus. Mostly everyone there is rude, mean, and not willing to help you at all. Two: the selection of science classes at widener is limited…I wish they offered a greater variety of science classes like pathophysiology, marine biology, or histology…they really only offer core biology classes so if you are looking to take some "exotic" science classes, you will most likely not find them here and if they are offered, they are offered once every other year which sucks. However the classes they do offer, they teach with excellence and you learn a great deal and although the variety of classes is not huge, you will still get a nice mix to pick from. Overall, Widener is a great school with a great faculty who want you to succeed. Widener will give you a sturdy foundation to which to build your career in the sciences. I think Widener is a diamond in the rough. I have toured and visited a lot of schools, and my experience has been great. If you are looking for a big ( Michigan) or really intense ( UCLA) school, then Widener probably is not where you want to be. If you are looking for a good college experience, or you have a degree already from one of those big high pressure schools.. then Widener might offer you a refreshing pace. The professors really know their students. They work with you, talk with you, and the school is very keen on helping those with Learning differences, which to me is huge given that there are so many who have this issue. I did not want a high pressure situation. I did my undergrad at USC and my graduate work, round one at UCLA… Widener was a refreshing change, and in 7 weeks I finish. I thought it was a 1000 percent better than another school that is trying to be an Ivy League ranked school in Philadelphia…. to me, the private NON Ivy League school in Philadelphia was more of a joke. They were more expensive than Widener, you could not even talk intelligently to anyone, and when I ftried to talk about how their tech dept failed students, I was reminded they are a top tier research school which means very little to a student most of the time, and that school was much more expensive than Widener.. I think you really need to examine what you want in a school and then find schools that fit that bill. Widener is a small sweet and friendly school… it is where people care about each other. Widener is not going to be for everyone, but I think in the years to come it might be one of the better schools to embrace. I also want to talk about tuition. Look, it is a private school, and so it is going to cost more than a state school.. However, if you put it next to UCLA a state school that charges $65K to out of state students, or USC that is a little more… or Georgetown, Drexel, Duke, or other private schools, you are not paying as much, and no one should look at the retail price of a college or university because 85% of all students get some kind of financial aid today… I am very happy with Widener! The key for any student is to figure out what it is in a college or university that they want. Widener has some pretty impressive alumni… so it can not be all bad!T. C.A.C.

The bad: 1. DANGEROUS CITY. Chester ,Pennsylvania has a very high crime rate. Nowhere is safe in this city. A student was shot inside Widener's parking lot a couple of years ago. Both the city and neighborhood are terrible. Walking too far off campus can put you in great danger. 2. Nothing to do for fun in Chester. The city is rundown and the downtown area is filled with many vacant buildings and trash. ALL Philadelphia universities are superior to Widener because of their locations. 3. Widener Law school is the worst in the area. Their graduates fall far behind Temple, Villanova, Drexel, and UPenn law schools. Widener Law is low quality. I attended Widener Law briefly in the 80's before transferring to a better law school. 4. Widener University's reputation is bad in the Philadelphia area. The quality of Widener, both undergrad and grad programs, are below average. Widener gets a bad Rep and is out shined by Upenn, Temple, Villanova, Drexel, La Salle, and St.joseph's graduates and alumni. Even West Chester University is superior to Widener. My child was interested in Widener for undergrad, but turned away due to their low quality and reputation. 5. Widener is not challenging. That's why too many people graduated with high GPAs. The school is easy to succeed. They don't prepare their students properly. 6. Widener is too expensive for a college located in a city like Chester. The Good: 1. Widener University isn't that far from Philadelphia, where there are places to shop, work, intern, and enjoy your college experience. (Attending college in Philadelphia is a better option) 2. co-op program, small class sizes, 3. The ability to transfer to another schoolThomas B. Smith

When I first started signing up for my MBA I advised them that I had just graduated with my bachelors degree. My goal was to start August 5, and I submitted all my necessary paperwork and cooperated as such. When it got to my transcripts I was advised I could not start because the conferral date was not on the transcripts. The enrollment specialist told me to reach out to my previous school. I did and it was a hassle. I called the enrollment specialist at Capella to advise of the updates to only find out that Capella’s registrar team had already been in contact with my school. I wanted to start on the 5th as it was very discouraging to go through the process to be turned away at last minute. 1). Total waist of time as I took time out of my day to complete orientation and do what they advised of me. 2) I asked to speak with a supervisor who was very vague and could not provide the information needed. 3) I again called Capella to try and escalate the situation, but the manager never returned my call. I feel as if they had me sign up because they were the ones to get paid for each student to enroll and failed to educate me properly in the beginning, which is very misleading and discouraging. Since no one wanted to comply and take responsibility I will be escalating this to the BBB as this is not my fault and I should had been able to start in the promised time given and should have been educated properly.Tearra McCray

The worst university ever! They made me waste my time and my money from the first day, every time I communicated with them each counselor told me something different, and more than a month passed and I did not have an accurate answer on the status of my application, after a month a person from human resources let me know that I had to do my transcripts equivalency again on another website because the one I had already sent twice to them waiting for they review it (and that they themselves told me it was okay to do it that way) was not valid for them to take me into account to start the course this past October. 1- First time the transcripts were not encrypted, so they asked my to ask the institution they send it again but encrypted this time and I did it and sent it again. And after that they let me know that didn’t work for them. So I wasted my time, my money and above all the opportunity to start on the desired date. A very bad job of the staff. Very bad communication with the students who want to start there, and they also contradict each other. They all say different things and waste your time. They are also very rude. I hope that no one has this bad experience, nor misses the opportunity to start the course on the date they planned, and due to the horrible work of other people you lose opportunities in life.Claudia Espinosa

From the beginning of my Master's level school search, Capella stood out. I had a great recommendation from a friend already, but in researching complete online programs to work with my schedule, Capella checked all of the boxes I needed. I had a wonderful experience with my admissions counselor and continue to have great interactions with all communication. I am happy with all faculty thus far and feel that I am learning exactly what I need for my future as a school counselor. The course load is what I expected it to be and the time I spend on classwork is time well spent. I feel very confident that I will be prepared to enter the field of school counseling when I graduate. The very first thing Capella does once you are enrolled is to start you in a class to help navigate your program and get you familiar with the online format. This helped immensely and calmed my nerves for entering into a graduate program online. I feel very well cared for and have not had a negative experience yet!
