20 Best Physician Assistant Programs In Mesa, AZ (2022 Updated)

Mesa has a lot of great classes and opportunities but there are major issues. The sign up process for classes is confusing, many of the pathways online that are supposed to show you the courses you need for degrees are incorrect. Of course you should contact advisors to figure out which classes you need, but it is nearly impossible. There are so few advisors and very little availability. As of right now it asks you to make in person appointments with them and yet there are never any slots open. You can email advising which takes 2-3 days to get a response. You can try and call their office and wait on hold for an hour just to eventually get hung up on. It is in no way the advisors faults, anyone I have actually been able to contact has been as helpful as possible, but it is so hard to get a response or any help. I signed up for courses that the online pathway said I needed only to find out that they weren't actually necessary for my degree and others were. When I went to drop the courses and add the new ones it wouldn't let me because I owe money for the courses I am still enrolled in that haven't even started yet. So, I cannot sign up for the correct courses, have no clue which classes I actually need and cannot find advisors to help. I understand during the pandemic it is difficult for universities to find staff and help, but even before COVID Mesa was still just as inefficient. Mesa just needs to improve their communication and assistance with students, it would solve so many issues.Taylor Pouncey

MCC has a fantastic non-credit program for older adults: NFLL, or New Frontiers for Lifelong Learners. For an extremely reasonable fee, I sign up for as many of the program's classes as I please. They're online, in-person, or a mix of the two. There are also some field trips; we've just gone to a free day at the Desert Botanical Gardens, and next week there will be a trip to the new one in Queen Creek for a fee. A class on WW2 planes had a trip to Falcon Field, etc. Over the last few years I've taken classes in history, tech, health, music, and much more! There are also groups for discussion, playing games, hiking for 3 different levels, etc., as well as social and service activities. In-person classes are at MCC Mesa and Red Mtn campuses usually. Some classes have been through Great Courses, and many lecturers are former teachers/professors or experts in their field. Check it out–great program at low price! Update: on-campus classes are so easy to get to: it's a small campus (either Dobson or Red Mountain), and the free parking is ample and easily accessible.Natalie Satterthwaite

So I just signed up today.. I think which is the problem. There’s like 5 people sitting at a desk “helping” people get set up but they did absolutely nothing to help me get signed up they didn’t tell me I couldn’t sign up for my class the same day as I walked in and told them exactly what class I wanted and that I never attended college before. They don’t tell me it’s some weird 24 hour wait for the account to start working and they also did not at all clarify to make sure to take the student photo because now that I chose to skip that because NOBODY helped me I’m unable to finish my application lol hice apparently if I don’t finish in 48 hours will be deleted? They also didn’t tell me that. So this has been an absolutely awful experience thus far and I haven’t even been able to join a class yet.Ryan Jorgensen

I absolutely love the RT program here, the instructors are probably the best I have ever had. They have super high standards, but they also help you reach those high standards. The school is a bit pricey, but you get helpful instructors, with real experience, and who are ready to assist you whenever you need it. Plus, the hands on experience in class is a huge benefit. The only two downsides is not the program itself, but the food and beverage options in the school “cafe”, and the uniforms. For the price of the program, the uniforms are very stiff, and definitely nothing close to decent quality. So, if your enrolling, make sure to put some $$ aside to buy comfortable scrubs that actually fit you. As for the cafe, it would be great to have a real coffee machine (not instant coffee), so we don’t have the need to go off campus for caffeine. Overall though, I love my program, the instructors, and the new career PIMA is helping me prepare for. I definitely would recommend PIMA to anyone who wants to actually start a new medical career!Christina Romero

This school is easy to get started at. I was admitted to the RT program immediately after taking some brief tests and completing a mock study schedule. It is not a cheap option, but the wait list for cheaper schools is two years long…so I decided to get my schooling done rather than wait. I hope that the high price of education here all goes to the instructors, because they are the only worthwhile part of attending here. The admissions staff will make whatever promises they need to make to get you signed up, even if it is something they can’t deliver. The facility and equipment is old. The programs are fast paced and will leave you behind unless you are serious about learning the material.Derek Aaron

Choosing Pima Medical Institute and their Respiratory Therapy program was one of the best decisions my family and I have made. The program was very thorough and straightforward in the teachings. The thing I enjoyed the most was the constant engagement you were able to have with the instructors. Everyone is very open and willing to help in any situation whether it was school related or just life in general. The PD is amazing and she will do everything in her power to make sure you are not only a successful graduate but you are a successful RRT for many years to come. I took the 4 week CNA program during the summer and am now certified and working in a hospital. The class was incredibly informative and prepared you tremendously for the exams. I went into my exams incredibly confident and was helped throughout the program with any questions I had. While the program itself was amazing, there were several instances that made getting my certification from the program miserable. My instructor was the sweetest woman but spent most of the time questioning her own knowledge on the topics she was teaching. We had another instructor come in to assist our class and she spent a lot of time talking down to the students for messing up simple steps on topics we were just taught for the first time minutes prior. One student had a breakdown due to being constantly ridiculed by this instructor (management was told and nothing changed) most students avoided her like the plague. The two instructors who taught my class would then bicker with each other on what was correct in front of the entire class, it was extremely unprofessional. I would recommend this program, I just hope they have talked to their team and discuss how to handle conflicts better.Hailey Carpenter

I completed my CNA program with AMTI & would definitely recommend it to anyone that's willing to commit to a few weeks of hard work. The program is fast paced but if you study & stick with it, you will succeed. It definitely feels like the course is geared towards those wanting to go into hospice, long term care, etc. but I always knew I would be going the acute route after graduation – I am now working as a nursing assistant in the ICU at a hospital here in the valley. I don't know what these reviews talking about having their money stolen are all about, it's made very clear from the beginning that if you cannot keep your grades up & be there for lectures/instruction, you will not receive a refund. My only comment for improvement is that all the instructors get on the same page, we left a lot of classes confused because one instructor would tell us one thing & another would tell us otherwise. I am so happy I went with my gut & decided to attend AMTI. I just finished my CNA weekend 7 week program & passed my state boards on the first try. I did experience some uncertainty when speaking with student services, I had some questions that I didn't feel were answered properly. I even went down to the campus for more information & I didn't leave confident that this was the right school to choose. I took a risk & went with it anyways. The instructors were absolutely wonderful. Barb E. was my skills instructor & you can tell how much passion she has for nursing and for training future CNA's and nurses. These teachers truly give you so many resources and provide you with every thing you need to pass the program and pass your state boards. I highly recommend taking your CNA training here. I enjoyed every moment of it & I am a tad sad I wont be coming back next weekend. Loved this experience.SB

This is the premiere place if you are interested in getting into the medical field! I am currently in the Medical Assistant program and completed the Nursing Assistant program last year. When on externship for the Nursing, it was a night and day difference between Pima and the other schools. Pima clearly has a finger on the pulse (no pun intended) of what medical offices are looking for and delivers exceptionally. When I was looking at getting into a program, naturally I started looking at the Community Colleges given the cost. Many have lengthy waiting lists to enter and the quality of education pales in comparison to Pima. I knew of Pima and had heard good things, but thought I would not be able to afford it. After some saving I put myself through the NA program (it was $1600.00) as the US Dept. of Ed doesn't offer financial aid for such a low amount. However, being in the MA program, I was in fact able to obtain financial aid. Pima is a bit more expensive than other places. However, the programs are fast tracked because you are learning core subjects, things you will actually use in the real world. Not electives and other nonsensical classes that aim to have you be a "well rounded individual" but ultimately do a disservice as the length of time to graduate and get a job is much longer. Plus, if you're looking at the medical field, you probably have an idea of what it takes and are already pretty well rounded. I am about to turn 40. It is never too late to get into a new career! If you are looking to get on the fast track to a career and are interested in learning in a fun and focused environment, I highly recommend coming to Pima. I attended Pima medical institution to become a veterinarian assistant. I love on how they teach you in the program on what to know in order to become an assistant. The teacher Dr. Watson I love on her energy and the way she teaches the class, she can be pushy, but she never gives up on you easily. Im now working at an awesome clinic and I’m really loving my job, the veterinarians they’re very nice to work with. I’m thinking of becoming a veterinarian technician so I’ll definitely come back to Pima to attend classes soon. I don't know where to begin. Being frustrated and feeling as though I am giving the runaround, trying to get my diploma and trying to get my official transcript from a school that never answers a phone call during business hours. I never had to rely on a voicemail message to get back in contact with me due to miss understanding of phones calls. I have set up a payment arrangement back in May 2021, and I was told that if I miss a payment out of six months I will have to start all over again. I have been making payments and unfortunately was told that I missed three payments but look at my account and I see they're taking money out of my account. But still won’t give me my diploma. The staff is very rude and have not sympathy or compassion about the students other are trying to make something out of themselves in life. Talking to the staff is like hopping and excepting. Staff that not willing to work with you to try to help me. I've been only help by Miss Sherry, which I was told no longer works there. She's been the only person helping me getting my diploma and trying to get everything situated. I feel frustrated disappointed disgusted and hurt that I can't even depend on the school that I thought would help me succeed in life. This is hurtful and I would not wishes upon no one else. I work so hard live alone have no family here and you're telling me that I can't get any of my transcripts or I can't get my diploma because you guys messed up on your end and you're making me suffer which is not right and unacceptable. As much as I talk about you guys school and the staff that helps me and for someone to sit there and make me feel as though it's my fault is unacceptable. Question would you want to recommend a school to someone? If I could give 0 stars, I would. Every campus that I have spoken to someone on the phone has been rude and dismissive and not willing to help… I attended the nursing program in 2016…completed one semester…and had to withdraw from the second (before it started) because My son was having health issues. They told me to come back whenever I wanted that they would gladly accept me back into the program where I left off… which was absolutely not true! When I tried to go back….i was told I could be accepted into the current semester…Which would have been fine except….they were changing the curriculum the following semester…Which if I would have gone back would have forced me to start all over again…. Also, When I asked If I would be able to have a financial credit for the first semester that I completed because they changed the curriculum, I was told to speak with the head of the nursing dept and then she told me that was a question for financial aid who then referred me back to the nursing dept head…and they both said that they couldn’t help me. Don’t waste your time nor effort here. $24,000 down the drain for absolutely nothing! And not only that, But when you try to have your transcripts sent, it takes forever to actually get a hold of someone…and with the rude staff on the phone at every single campus it’s ridiculous!Melissa Kloess

I’m so happy I came across the Arizona College of Allied Health on google. I requested to receive more information about the college and not even a few days later I get a text from Justin. Justin was very nice and gave me so much information that helped me decide this was the college for me. Before I came here I was at Community Colleges for the last 5 years completing only prerequisites not even in a program yet. When Justin told me I would graduate next year in July getting my DA diploma I was beyond excited. I can’t thank Justin enough for all his help. I just got done with my first track passing all my classes. I could have not done it without Ms. Vosteen. She is the best teacher I’ve ever had at all the schools I’ve been to. I am going to miss being in her classes but I am so excited to continue my journey. I loved going to AIDA! The staff went above and beyond to assist my classmates and I even when the pandemic hit the world which happened in the middle of my class. The teaching is incredible with teachers who have so much experience and they love you and want to help in every way possible. Andi was my teacher and I'm so grateful for the things she taught me and for being so natural with us and teaching with love. I also went though a really tough medical trial the week of finals and they made it possible for me to still take finals and graduate. They continue even months later to check in on me and see how my dental career is going and provide me with any resources to be where I'd like to be. I can't say that being in the dental field was ever something I contemplated until I tagged along with my husband to tour this school. I immediately saw the opportunity and wanted to be apart of it. This school helped me right from the start. From helping me obtain a grant from the state, all the way to sending me numerous job openings after I graduated, this school staff ( Holly and Brenda) are amazing! The teachers are so great too (Tammy and Monique), always re explaining something if you need but challenging you everyday to be a better version of yourself and to believe in yourself. AIDA is truly one of the greatest education experiences I’ve ever had. The instructors are phenomenal; they are passionate about what they do and they care for the success of their students. The course’s hands on approach ensures that students leave the program with skills and confidence to assist dentists chair-side. The course is fast, but manageable, and the connections you make with other students and staff leave you with wanting more. With the help of AIDA I was able to land a job one week before my program had ended (they are literally just that good guys!!). I’m a student transfer from a different state which I attended Carrington college. I recently relocated back to Az in hopes to finish nursing school here. I struggled where I came from trying to work only as needed so I can go full time in nursing school. Where I’m from classes were only offered during the day. I moved back to Az so I can work full time again and attend classes in the evenings. I lost almost everything I had where I was because of not working Harley any hours. Here, I can attempt to pay bills by working full time days and still go to classes in the evenings. I put in 4 out of 6 semesters with Carrington. The Mesa campus director, Antonio Thompson, took that from me. I pay out of pocket because I have exhausted my financial aid on a different degree that still pays very little. Young, and thinking I was doing the right thing many years ago, as the first to go to college in my family, I attended a private school which ate up my financial aid. Little did I know that there was only so much FA you can borrow to get through your bachelors. Antonio Thompson made a decision to not enroll me because of a balance I cannot afford to pay up front. I struggled to make payments. It’s not easy to survive on your own with no other income and attend nursing school, and because I can’t pay up front, he took my dream and life away. I’ve been depressed ever since. I’ve been in healthcare 20+ years and I know I would be an outstanding RN. I’ve worked in the ICU and managed in healthcare. It’s amazing how an individual wants to make a life for themselves and just be educated can be told no… basically you’re not good enough for us to educate you because you can’t afford it. I’m not trying to get free education. I’m trying to better my life so I can pay all my bills, including my student loans.Kat

Unprofessional. Went to school here in 2018 but couldn’t finish it off. I contacted them a little over a YEAR ago so I can restart my path. Was in touch with Ernesto and out of nowhere stop receiving replies. I sent emails left messages and even went to the school. Every time was promised to be contacted. But I didn’t know it would take A WHOLE YEAR! Ernesto just contacted me today, a whole year later after I first inquired about the school. No thank you. First semester was great. Second and third had so many staffing issues. Teaching was inconsistent and had professors leave and be replaced mid way through. The financial aide department is a complete mess. I received three different financial plans from three different financial planners stating that after financial aid, I owed out of pocket ranging from $1600- $19000. A little bit of discrepancy there. Two stars. One for my enrollment advisor, Maribel and second semester. I used them thinking they had a base of people already established in their system. The Medical Assistant that was sent to me for work was 1. inexperienced(by many years)2. found through other job listing sites 3. never worked for 1 Stop previously 4. while she was being trained by me the first day, after approximately 2 hours of work was told to leave(via her cell phone) because I hadn't paid them upfront 5. the medical assistant was allegedly asked to stay with them and not accept my job offering two weeks later. I gave her job because I really needed someone and was willing to train her as much as I could. I can't believe I actually paid so much per hour when she was treated as a W-9 and she was clueless. I also had to pay to "take them form her"!! In my case, all they did was scour the "need a job ads" and found anyone who had a decent resume. On top of it, they told her to leave the office because I hadn't pre-paid?? They didn't even speak with me to tell me they were doing telling her to leave, in the beginning of the day, having counted on this person to work. Terrible!! Had a dream job offer from D.C. thru this hiring organization. They requested ID, license, and other certifications and SSN for back ground check. I provided this information and received no further emails. I called them on Monday and requested some proof of the job offer, an acceptance letter, anything that provided proof that this job offer was indeed real and that I was 100% accepted. The representative, don't want to use names, said that they would send information THAT AFTERNOON. Never received the requested email and was offered another job the following day, which I had to take, because that same Monday I had put in my 2 week notice at work. I am currently attending East Valley Medical College, I just finished my CNA program and continuing on through their PCT program. I have loved every minute of my time I have spent at EVMC!! Amanda with admitting was incredibly friendly and helpful with getting me enrolled and my teacher, Jeniffer has been amazing! Our class as well as lab time has been set up to promote our success, and our teacher was amazing!! She made learning the information very easy, she presented the information very clearly and thoroughly and also incorporated stories from experience that helped me to remember and apply information. The entire staff as well as the environment of East Valley Medical College is very positive and inviting and everyone at the school wants you to succeed, not only through the education process but also in finding a job after your course completion! If you are looking for quick and effective programs to get your medical career started, look no further than EVMC to get yourself there. I'm beyond grateful to their staff for giving me an opportunity to shine in their program. I enrolled in their 8 week Phlebotomy program, which is 5 weeks in classes while learning to properly draw blood on your classmates. After your 5 weeks, you are assigned a clinical site for 3 weeks. I feel that I received the best education that I could have ever ask for. I say this because when I went to my clinical site (which was a LabCorp), I felt extremely prepared and it reflected in my work at my site. You are given the skills necessary to be successful, but you also must have the drive and desire to work hard as well. Their classes are small (only 10 students are allowed per class). Now, be warned that while you are in class you will draw blood on your classmates and you will be drawn on too, so if you have a fear of getting your blood drawn, this may not be for you. I couldn't be more satisfied with everything that I received from this small school. Everyone from the administration to the the educators were professional and helpful. I participated in the CNA program at East Valley Medical College and loved every minute of it! The atmosphere, instructors, and set up was exactly what I needed to succeed in the program. The atmosphere had plenty of positive vibes and was very inviting. The instructor that taught the class, Jenifer, was so attentive to details and truly wanted all her students to succeed. With this being said, she was a very helpful instructor and was willing to help us, her students, at any given time. East Valley Medical College had the skills lab set up for us in a way that would ensure that we got a high quality education and ensured that we had all the supplies that we needed to strive for the best. This man is a miracle maker. 12 years since I was diagnosed with uncontrolled diabetes. Doctor after doctor after doctor tried getting my diabetes under control with no results. My A1C would stay above 10.0 and as high as 13.3 but with this doctor within a 8 month period my blood glucose levels went from a "normal" of 450's to 500's down to 100 to 140's with an A1C of 6.1 with simple med adjustments/changes and just being a motivation all together. My weight in 8 months went down 43 lbs. And that's with minimal changes to my everyday lifestyle. If you're diabetic and over weight make an appointment with Dr. Quigley this man gives you hope with a completely new outlook on life. I wish I came here first. I went in to the Medical clinic with an already made up mind that they were just like all the others, and walked out with a changed mind . Not only did Gerard Quigley actually talk to me as a person he took as much time needed to get my full history and map out a plan to move forward with my individual care . Not only is he an awesome medical professional but a caring person. The staff is so professional and courteous even when people are rude and belligerent they remain calm and respectful. I see Jerry Quigly for primary care and pain management. I have opposed to any meds. Doing his care plan for injection to manage my pain. After two years of suffering from cervical and should pain after an unexpected fall. I see him for primary care also. First time in over 25 years , I’m on the correct medication, living my best life in many years. I was a smoker for 25 years, I am now 42 days smoke free also. I trusted Mark over the past few years to treat my chronic pain and really thought he was a good guy. However, he gaslit me when there was a breakdown of communication with his Medical Assistant Ariel and my pharmacy. I was wrongfully discharged as a patient for something beyond my control. Also, false statements/and information were noted in my medical chart. Luckily, I was able to secure care with a different provider at a different practice. My new provider agreed that Mark wrongfully discharged me, didn’t allow for due process and covered up for his credulous MA, Ariel. For anyone considering Mark or The Core Institute, go elsewhere. At this practice, you’re just a number and they only care about money. I’ve noticed fraudulent insurance claims, as they have double billed my primary and secondary insurance. The patient advocate that contacted me was inept and condescending. Summer was one sided and only cared to cover up the mistakes of the care team. She basically told me to shut and never contact them again. Being a patient advocate, one would think she would be more professional and have empathy. Look up The Core Institute on BBB.org, they have a D- rating. That speaks volumes on how much they really care. I did seek legal counsel on this situation. The attorney agreed that I have a valid case against The Core Institute. However, it would cost more in legal fees vs. the amount that would be paid out.Nathan Yingling

My husband is soon to have total knee replacement by Dr Decomas. She came highly recommended. This morning he had his Pre-Op with Melissa Barrett, who was just as pleasant as Dr Decomas during his initial consultation with her. We felt bad today seeing the girls behind the desk have to deal with patients complaining and being embarrassingly rude about mask enforcement. We’re all over it but when it’s still necessary, just comply without the complaints. I don’t understand people that don’t mind making everyone else so very uncomfortable. Was at the this office on August 18. When the fire alarm sounded. The two ladies at reception said there's construction and this happens all the time. About 4 minutes later a man came from the back area and said everyone needed to evaluate. Your patients have joint and back issues and are in wheelchairs. None! Of the staff came to help get them out. There also was no plan on how to get them down the very narrow stairwell. When we did get out of the building all of the available shade had been taken by your staff there DID NOT HELP PATIENTS. I was with a friend. I will never use you servicesDennis Gardner

Cecila, Cassie, Marissa and their instructors were awesome and completely transparent about the entire process. (I hope I remembered those names correctly). Initial consultation and full x-rays were only $65. A ginormous thank you to Marissa and her instructor at the emergency dental clinic!!! I don’t remember his name but her instructor/doctor was so nice and such a good teacher. The woman instructor teaching x-rays was also a great teacher. Today is the first day in over a month that I can brush my tooth without excruciating pain. I can finally eat on that side of my mouth and I can finally drink cold liquid. I am so incredibly happy and grateful that I could cry tears of joy!!!!! They got me in almost immediately at the emergency clinic and gave me a temporary filling. I was in the chair for almost 3 hours of drilling and filling for ONE horrendous cavity. This is a dental school, yes it will take a lot of patience and time since you’ll have to be there all day, they are learning! You’ll probably have to hold your own suction as well and that is uncomfortable but it’s because they don’t have dental assistants helping them! Yes, it’s uncomfortable but it’s not something to give them a one star review for and threaten a lawsuit like a previous reviewer stated. You can’t compare students at a school to an established dentist. Things are a little different and a little slower. They only charged me $50 total for the emergency visit and temporary filling. They’re getting me back in in a month with a student doctor. I live an hour from the school but it’s definitely worth the drive because the cost is so low and the students and instructors are amazing. The security guard was EXTREMELY RUDE. The YMCA shares the same space as their campus, so my husband and I were strolling on the sidewalk while waiting for our son's basketball game to begin. An elderly lady with an orange vest came outside. I assumed something was wrong, so I said, "I'm sorry. Are we not supposed to be here?" Her hearing must have been poor because she said, 'huh' 2 or 3 times before saying, "I didn't ask for an apology. I asked if I could help you." I then explained that I was just trying to get my steps in before my son's game at the Y. She then said, "Well this is private property, and the Y is that way." She could have just said 'yes' when I asked if we weren't supposed to be there, but she chose the rude and demeaning route instead. It was uncalled for. Interestingly enough, we didn't see any indications that the property was separated from the Y nor did we see any signs. Dentures made for the first time. Most of the teeth upper & lower damaged in auto accident. Dr. Crochet was one of the best Dentists I've ever seen in my 51 years, The school as well. Most people have their dentures put in right away. Dr.Crochet advised to wait, and the reasons to wait. Better fitting dentures, let the bone heal. It's been over a year my dentures fit so well, my gums don't hurt. My wife had dentures put in same day by different dental office, she's had many alignments, over the past 5 years still not right! They helped with grants, and plans for payment that worked for me, I'm disabled on social security. Best care, students & staff were so nice. So cool… my crown came off (again times 7 in the past 3 days. Now my 'post' is starting to crumble… yay)… and was told if it comes off (again, by a real dentist) I'm going to need a new one made… yay… I'm poor… supposedly I have an "extremely strong bite" that they think I can control…? DO NOT go to the dental school to get a crown… Oh and fillings, don't go those either, lost 2. One being facial… And they tried to blame it all on me… Crown fillings… You do not even want to know about the extremely painful and tearful 5 hour root canal… still traumatized by that. they want me to pay for a new crown because they made the post (my real tooth) too small and the hole in the crown too big… FYI just filling in the void of a hole in a crown where the post should fit perfectly with cement does not actually work… the one I had done by an actual, licensed dentist 15 years ago has had ZERO issues… fml They take ZERO responsibility for their poor… everything, i get that they are student, but they DO have multiple licensed professionals. And I can't even say the 'cost' makes up the difference. I should not have to pay for 2 fillings in the same spot, within a month because it is apparently my fault. 2 different crowns, both recemented 2 times for the same reason. Spend 4 out of 5 hours of a 1 hr root canal, in pure agony and wishing I would black out rom pain. Not I get to get my 5th bad boy, going get all done by a professional!Elyse Rowland

Have been multiple times now. Have had a root canal and two temporary teeth buildups. Have several more sessions planned to restore my teeth. The staff is friendly and professional, and do quality work. The doctors check the students' work at varying points. Almost every time they found something very minor that they corrected. This level of thoroughness is non-existent in private practice, for obvious reasons. The cost is roughly 10 – 25% of private practice. Extremely affordable, comparatively. Yes, it takes a lot longer. Expect that going in. These are students who need to practice and do well to pass inspections, so they take their time. It's unfair to the institution to complain that it's not as speedy as a private dentist. Remember the old adage: Things can be good, cheap, and fast. But you only get to pick two. For the people complaining about painful treatments: YOU need to be an advocate for yourself. Your healthcare provider is not a mind reader. If something hurts, tell them immediately and they'll give you more anesthetic. This isn't rocket science. I highly recommend coming here. If you need extensive dental work done like I do and you're on the fence, give it a shot. I saw 2 private dentists a week before starting treatment here, and I will say with all confidence that ATSU's comprehensive exam was 10x more thorough. Just took longer. (:Aaron Kelsheimer

Had came in recently for an adjustment on my retainer and replacing my permanent bottom retainer and had the absolute worst service I had in my life in any place. Doctor Serrano the orthodontist gave me such a hard time while I was in the middle of my procedure and gave me a lot of attitude. She was mumbling under her breath on how difficult and stressful it was to fix my bottom retainer because my gums were bleeding. Had I been able to speak, I would have asked her if she preferred me to come a different day or even see a different doctor there. I have never felt so uncomfortable and upset as a paying customer in my entire life. On top of all this now that I’m back home, I feel like the bottom retainer isn’t installed right like I had previously. Now i’m sitting here wondering if I should make another appointment, pay again, just to see if this was indeed done right. Im usually not one to complain but I feel that this kind of service and behavior should not go undocumented.Jett Julian

I have been going to Greenfield Family Medicine for over three years and we moved to Gilbert a little over a year ago so I was considering moving to a new doctor because of the drive, but I finally made the decision because apparently I missed an appointment and they have a policy of not waiving the $50 dollar fee no matter the reason. They did not call to remind me (something they don't do) and I was told they send email reminders, but I didn't get one. If you decide to go here then just be aware that you need to keep your appointments or you will be charged $50. I had never missed an appointment that I am aware of. I asked if they were willing to lose a customer because of a policy and I was told that it is really expensive to have missed appointments. I recommended that they look into a texting service to remind patients and I was told that is also expensive. That being said, I did enjoy my time at Greenfield Family Medicine and maybe once I cool down from their stance on their policy I will consider going again, but I'll probably look around my area first to see if there is someone closer.J. Horrible doctor and even worse human being. I’ve technically been his patient for 20 years but have always usually seen his PA. His last PA chose to leave and go to another practice, so I got scheduled with Burrell. At a time when I needed compassion and competence, I was met with cold condensation and ego. He thinks he’s so smart but he actually seems to miss the mark more often than not. This is the same physician who told me that I would have to go off of my anti-depressant when pregnant, that my pregnancy hormones would cover for it. When I ran that by my OB, Dr. Beck, he said absolutely not. I followed my OB’s advice and had an excellent pregnancy and experience. I’m not going to say more about my experience today because it will reveal too much personal information, so just trust me when I say- If you value compassion and competence, then you need to look elsewhere.Heather Hendershott

Graduated in 2016 from the Emergency Medical Technician program. Lovely teachers who were active EMS providers to give us up-to-date training and information. Tons of hands-on experience with the equipment, plenty of time in class for your workbook, studying, powerpoint presentations, and other class-relevant tasks. This organization offers many programs to high school students, young graduates under 22 years of age, and adult programs to fulfill anyone's career path. EVIT Mesa main campus is massive and gorgeous! The only problem I had was a discrepancy with the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) card/certificate. The one we obtained through Heart Savers INC. via in-class we were told was not valid and we needed to obtain an American Heart Association (AHA) card/certificate instead. State officials came into our class and told us about one week from graduation it wasn't valid. Hopefully EVIT collaborates with AHA to have officials from their organization come in, teach CPR, and obtain the correct card/certificate you need so you're 100% prepared to get hired as an EMT or ER Technician.James Molinari

I went to East Valley Institute of Technology and graduated from the Culinary portion last year. At a glance the teachers can seem mean to their students, but when you take a closer look they aren't being mean to any of their students. All the teachers are excellent, they taught me everything I know and I'm greatful for what I know now. Not only do I know how to cook, but I now know a lot of things there is to know about saftey and sanitation. In fact I know so much about Saftey and Sanitation that I dodge some resturants that don't go by the code. For example, Hackers Grill in Apache Junction, they don't clean their floors, don't wash their hands after handleing diffrent food and are very mean to their employees and customers. If I had the decision I would put them on a permenent Kitchen appreciation day. The chefs that work in Evit are some of the best, they all have worked in the indistry, owned their own resturants, and now are teaching some of the next generations of chefs in the world. I haven't attended school here, but I've come to the cosmetology building a few times. I've gotten my hair dyed and cut as well as getting my legs waxed. I have been somewhat dissappointed, and I came in knowing that it was a school and not to expect too much. However, when I came in to get my hair cut, the teacher was rude to me about the damage of my hair (which I knew about, that's why I was cutting it.) The hair students that I've seen were alright, but not amazing. I've never hated my hair after coming here, but I've also never been wowed. Also, I recently made an appointment and paid for a full leg wax. However, I only got a half. I paid an extra $10 for their mistake. They could be worse, I suppose, but I'd rather pay a bit more to get truly good service.Rachel Arbizu

EVIT is a public school system financially augmented by state and federal funds. It is also heavily in debt and struggling to attract students (see other reviews). Upper management, bless their hearts, are lean on the education and fat on self promotion often using what we all describe as "shady" tactics when dealing with staff. Yes-men are rampant and teachers feel unappreciated by the Principal. It's not entirely his fault, he's just protecting his job the only way he knows how; he simply doesn't have the competency to run a technical trade school. However, this creates an environment where teachers are just trying to survive in an underlying hostile work environment. For example, students and parents are allowed to sway management's actions whether complaints are true or not, never taking into consideration that students and teachers have no experience in teaching or EVIT curriculum. Management, in turn, does little fact-finding but, instead, puts the teacher on the witness stand, performs an interrogation and pronounces a guilty verdict. Problems are not kept small and their chain of command is a disorganized mess. I have no clue who my immediate supervisor is. Really, just avoid the easiness of getting a job here and work elsewhere. You'll be happier, less stressed, and more appreciated teaching in a professional environment. Upper management, get involved with your teaching staff and learn what their needs are. Treat your staff as colleagues, not turn-and-burn, dime-a-dozen instructors. It will take time and effort to get your organization turned around, but it can be done. Once you put their interests ahead of your own, you'll start attracting talent.Roberta Thom

Worst of the 17 schools I've ever been enrolled in. This place is run very poorly, and unprofessionally. If they don't like you, you will not get a call or email returned from them. The principal is extremely rude and inconsiderate and above all unethical much like the staff. Students have been found drinking alcohol in the parking lot during class time. There have also been several road rage incidents at this school, some involving parents as well as teachers. It's really no wonder ASU Police has to stand posted right outside this school at all times. They do not like to play by the rules – if you dont want to get screwed over, avoid any possible interaction with them!Mateo Chavez

I attended Evit from 2013-2015. Words can’t express how amazing Evit was for my educational career. Top notch facility with AMAZING teachers. Shout out to Mrs. Black (Human Anatomy & Physiology Instructor at the Main campus) for inspiring me to care about my education and Mrs. Berger (Veterinary Assistant Instructor at the East campus) who taught me to the skills to get hired at an animal hospital, to which I’m still on staff to this day.
