7 Best Mfa Programs In Indianapolis, IN (2022 Updated)

Please do not attend this school for it's transition to teaching graduate program. The professors did not prepare for their classes and provided low quality education to the point that I could not justify continuing with this program after paying in over $4,000. When attempting to get them to appeal the final $800 for the semester I left the program they simply refused to give any leeway or acknowledge and error on their part and sent me collections with an additional $350 fee. With no recourse beyond their own appeals process that unsurprisingly found no problem on their end, all I can do is complain on their review boards. On the plus side, the do have a beautiful campus and I can not in anyway speak to the quality of their undergraduate program.Daniel Gore

While well established as a great Franciscan university, Marian remains up-and-coming in terms of their MAT program for teachers. I had a wonderful experience in terms of the contacts made and networks formed while attending. However, much remains to be done to increase the rigor and requirements for that particular degree. Still, Marian University will soon open the second medical school in the State of Indiana. They are also adding a seemingly much finer tuned doctoral education leadership program.Tim Lankford

Here visiting for a campus tour with my daughter. So far what we have seen is amazing. Marian University is a great place. The buildings are contemporary except for a few historical sites that were preserved. Other than that, it appears to be a great place. The people were friendly as we visited as well. Definitely live on campus if you are looking for the full college experience. I've lived here for 3 years as an undergraduate and the facilities are very nice and the people very helpful. It's easy to find a job through the university and the research opportunities in science blow many other universities out of the water. Scholarships are also abundant if you know where to look and ask around. Professors range from fantastic to poor like at any university. I believe there are over 300 organizations and clubs to get involved in and always neat things like movies playing, dances, carnivals, etc, you just have to know to look for them. The campus is beautiful, especially in the spring and summer when the fountain is going and everyone is lounging outside. IUPUI is what you make of it, and getting involved is the best way to experience it.Amber Goad

As a 36-year old student who is employed full time and has a growing family to support going back to school to get a degree, I am mostly pleased with the experience of the last full school year. I've had a couple of lousy instructors, but for the most part I really enjoy the instructors I've had. I'm learning a lot of important information that will help me as an employee. I am currently a junior at IUPUI. Year after year I am always excited to come back to school! The campus is modern and in the middle of the city! There is always an event happening somewhere on campus, so you are always having the college experience. I love IUPUI and I think that it is the best university ever!Payton

With galleries open to the public which are filled with unique, inspiring art; a curriculum that feeds not only the artistic soul of our city, but also it's mental health (through the art therapy curriculum) and classes for non-artists, this is an Indianapolis gem definitely worth visiting!Karen E Laine

First off, the campus is gorgeous. The attention paid to student needs is excellent as are the facilities. The professors I have met have been most impressive as have those working in athletics. Brad Stevens, the basketball coach, exemplifies the true spirit of the campus. He is a local product whose work ethic, values, and foresight reflect the "Butler way." If you are looking for a mid sized university which cares about the total development of its students Butler is the place.Ron Adams

Great students. Great professors. Administration is awful. The campus has shifted to a focus that is no longer putting students first. Very sad to see where my former university is headed. Disagreeing with a President is completely justified, but an entire class dedicating to resisting a President? It sounds like Butler is just taking kid's money. I got accepted to UINDY after careful consideration about the program I wanted to attend. I chose UIndy over 3 other schools I was accepted to. They were not helpful at all after admission about what I needed to do next. The orientation was a joke and not helpful, they basically only addressed the students that would be receiving parental help with the finances and didn't answer any questions about the students like myself who would be doing it on their own, since my parents basically paid for my first degree. I also am supposed to receive half off my tuition due to my father being a disabled veteran. The Advisor I spoke with denied that despite the paperwork I sent her. A few weeks later I received my bill. They want 12k in a MONTH or else I would be dropped from classes. I reached out for more financial aid help and never got any response. Calls were not returned and emails were left ignored. This school was supposed to help me follow my dreams, and instead they crushed them. They killed all aspiration I had to further my education. It is now too late for me to attend any other college this fall and I must wait until next fall now, assuming I will even gain the perseverance back. If you are looking for a good college, I would stray from UIndy. I was left alone in the dark and put behind all the students who's mommy and daddy's will be paying the cost. I will set out to find a college with kind staff, good communication skills and one that will accept my fathers benefits. Do yourselves a favor and do the same.Elizabeth Galante

I have enjoyed my 2 years here and now i am plaining to move to CA. Professors always say that we are willing to help you if you come to our offices, but when I go to them they do not answer my question from the different aspects. If you do not ask multiple questions, they will not explain everything. Even in class, they try to hide some information from you so that you have to read the whole book to not miss any point. NOT ONE OR TWO PROFESSORS HAVE DONE THAT ( ESPECIALLY CHEMISTRY MAJOR). My advice, be away of this. There are a lot of activities that you can meet different people and learn more about different cultures. Plus, alcohol is prohibited in campus. ** I do not drink at all** Good LuckLolo Lole

I transferred here after attending Indiana University my first year of college. I felt the college is a great option for students who want more attention and a smaller class size. I always really enjoyed my time at UIndy because of their great and supportive athletic department. The school being smaller gave me more opportunities to fulfill my dreams and do what I wanted to do in college. Like everything, it is not for everyone. I believe it is a great school though and should be considered by all. It ended up being a perfect fit for me.The Landys
