4 Best Masters Programs In Harrisburg, PA (2022 Updated)

Are you a working individual looking to earn a degree? Don’t go to Harrisburg Community College. This college uses Technology that is not easy to learn and I am good with Computers. Want to speak with a Advisor, well my advisor lives in South Carolina so I can only conduct a meeting via Zoom, the college is taking ALL personal interactions away. And working individuals…well i hope your not trying to spend any time with family and friends because I leave my 40 hour week job and I do school work for 5-8 hours a night and on my weekends. Forget about spending anytime with my wife and three children….I am taking 3 classes. Don’t ask the teachers a question, they just refer you to the syllabus…well clearly I am asking you a question because I didn’t understand it. I am military, yesterday I had duty and i didn’t get my project submitted, I logged in tonight to submit the project and the instructor removed the instructions, and locked the drop box so I couldn’t submit the assignment. I could keep going but I don’t have time…if your a working individual, don’t fall for the things they tell you.William Bricker

If I could give this institution a lower than one star rating, I would. For a community college, the course costs, books, and fees seem to be immense. I had professors who took half or more of the class periods to talk about themselves, personal topics and politics. I’ve also had professors assign English paper topics about personal things and I imagine he laughed at the student’s papers later in his free time. The required intro to college class professor had us playing with popsicle sticks and jars of rocks and sand. The certifying official for the VA office submitted my paperwork incorrectly. I dropped my classes and incurred debt because of how poorly the education at HACC is. They seem to be all about the money and not the education or students. I can’t even request a transcript for my new school because of “debts” to HACC. I no longer live in Pennsylvania and I am now attending a MUCH better school, and I am very glad. I would never recommend this school to anyone. This is not a good school, don’t waste your money and time.SMK3181

Most professors are nice but my overall experience was bad. I went here to try to accomplish a 2 year degree but every time course selection came around they didn’t have the classes I needed so I got stuck taking hardly any credits each semester. The majority of advanced classes are online only. They offer almost zero advanced courses in a classroom. So happy I made the decision to transfer. Not to mention how every time I scheduled a meeting with an advisor it either got cancelled without notice or they changed me to a new advisor who could not give me a single piece of useful advice.Kate

Is this a college? It looks like a failing business. My daughter was interested in this school, but after visiting the school, she changed her mind. The school is a parking garage. There is no campus. The school is 1 building, surrounded by other buildings. The college CANNOT expand if it is fully surrounded (where is this college future?) The college is also on probation and might lose its accreditation. This 1 building/ Parking garage is low quality and offers VERY limited majors. This is the "WORST COLLEGE" on my daughter's college list. Everyone deserves better than Harrisburg University. I don't understand how they are attracting students.They are probably accepting students with low high school GPAs or maybe the students are the children of the administrators. I don't understand this school, its a huge mystery. Students are NOT getting a real college experience at this place. Is this a scam or what? They don't offer anything worthwhile and they LACK in amenities (dining halls, campus store, bookstore), in academic programs, resources, opportunities, activities/athletics, and everything that equals a good college experience. Those who are looking to go to Medical School or something of that nature, beware. I spent three years at this school and I enjoyed it. I know everyone and I got to know my professors at a deeper level. The professors are also willing to give useful feedback and advice; however, I was told by Admissions in 2011 that this school had strong connections for people looking into going to Med School, and my mom and I were convinced that HU would be able to accommodate my needs. I must say that this school is more for Tech students. There are a TON of opportunities/guest speakers/ etc. that are available. Although, there is very little for science students. Not EVERYONE can (wants) to intern at the Coroner's office. Before I left, I helped establish a need for a Pre-Med major and I'm hoping that it won't be run into the ground. I can't stick around and waste my time with people on the 14th floor who are still on the fence though, so I decided to transfer after my junior year… Just something to consider.Brittany

I have been associated with Harrisburg University for more than 6 months now and my experience has been really good. The university faculty and staff do a very impressive job at keeping the focus on course curriculum. The executive program is an added advantage to working students & who want to pursue higher education along with their busy work life. The building & infrastructure certainly lacks some bells & whistles when you compare with other universities, but it does compensate students on what is required for them to advance on with their studies.Sreejith Kaimal

Campus Tour whew lol. We have been on quite a few. A sigh of relief too not have to do anymore. Overall its a small campus. Which I believe for most students especially incoming Freshmen would like to not feel like a number and be swallowed up. To feel like you can get the assistance you really need. We were able to see inside classrooms and also a mock student room. Our student tour guide I believe her name was Yasmeen. Did an excellent job. She was rushed with us because we had another engagement. Though she did give detailed information at every location. With that she was well informed and gave us a well rounded look at tye campus. Also she gave us some insight into some things we were unaware of. Overall I think we are sold 😆.LaTrenda

Penn State Harrisburg is the largest Penn State non-University Park campus and is 100% back to its pre-COVID strength. There is a newly built train stop & boarding platform just across from the main campus entrance and HIA, the Harrisburg regional airport, is also just across from campus and an entrance to the state turnpike system is just a couple miles away.. Well away from huge urban areas, this campus is very safe and secure. Very diverse educational experience with a strong multi-USA state and international student presence. You will almost be guaranteed to see someone that looks like you!Robert Higbee

The experience. The people. These can go both ways. I attended this campus for 2 years and it was both a positive and negative experience. The biggest thing that threw me off was that Penn State HARRISBURG was in MIDDLETOWN. Make it make sense? the campus is nice and cozy with an ample amount of parking with parking passes. Not as much for free parking. The school has the spirit and heart of University Park and would highly suggest going here to get a different type of experience from University Park.
