After much consideration on writing this review, I have decided to post this to inform others of a first-hand St. Agnes girl experience. St. Agnes is college prep, Catholic and all girls. I went to St. Agnes my freshmen year just like most girls do when they feed from a Catholic elementary school. St. Agnes is a smaller school, therefore finding a good group of girls that you fit in with is tough. Personally, I don’t get along well with girls, so fitting in was even harder. I did have my strengths though, I enjoy being a leader, getting involved, being a class officer, etc., I got to experience none of this. Some teachers (some of which no longer work at St. Agnes) are very picky when it comes to who gets the lead roles. If you were not “cool” enough, didn’t get perfect grades, etc. you had no place in any leadership roles. Another issue that I had was the fact that St. Agnes handed me a booklet at my Freshmen Orientation that stated, “Girls will always be by your side, but boys won’t be.” Some of my greatest friends are boys, and saying boys won’t be by any of our sides is not true. The biggest issue I faced in my one year at St. Agnes was the Catholicism. Emails were sent to my parents saying it was okay if you struggled in your faith life, and they understand if you don’t attend mass. My freshmen theology teacher converted to Catholicism right before he taught our class, meaning he went a whole semester of teaching Catholicism when he was not Catholic. This teacher also said it was okay to not make it to mass on Sunday. If you expect your daughter to get a good, Catholic education, it’s hard to find it here. Overall, the teachers are mean & the girls are uninviting. I still today think before I post anything on social media, “will this St. Agnes girl make fun of me?” “will they talk about me?” St. Agnes tore my confidence right out of me. I never found my place, but I would hope your daughter can.Google User

I attended St. Agnes for 16 years and it was a great place to grow up. The faculty has continued to stay in touch and congratulate me on my life milestones since I graduated in 2014 – they truly care about you and your future success. I was miles ahead of the students I attended college with and was able to place into higher college courses through my high school education. My class was a great group of girls and we all found our place somewhere in the wide variety of clubs and extracurricular activities. We still stay in touch through our Facebook group and get together! I truly encourage anyone to send their daughter here for a great education and an atmosphere that is welcoming and not overwhelming.Abby Hanson

Great School, Great People, Great Leadership…teaching young ladies to be the leaders of tomorrow! These bad reviews are fake I can almost guarantee it. That or their kid got kicked out for sending naked selfies of themself and got caught or failed a drug test and got das boot. My daughter is six years old and can speak, mandarin chinese, spanish, french, and english. She has also learned how to read sheet music, play the piano and the recorder, reads on a 4.7 grade level (she's in 1st) and will be performing in a play next month…all on top of playing soccer, basketball, swimming, and gymnastics. I am a student at Lausanne and I'm using my mom's email for this. I love it here! There is a huge choice of lunch and the teachers are nice. I am in Middle School at Lausanne and we have houses like in Harry Potter! Not to mention house competition and prefects/heads. We have three gyms and common time. We have zero hour which is and hour before school for finishing homework and working on other stuff. For me? I make short films for the middle school online newspaper. We have electives too! Our choices are Art, Band, Drama, Chorus and more! I have Art and Drama.But everyone has to have S.T.E.A.M. What is S.T.E.A.M you ask? S=Science,T=Technology,E=Engineering,A=?,M=Math. We also have Sports Fest Arts Fest which is sports in the morning and art in the afternoon. In conclusion, I love Lausanne!Mitra Kohan

My daughter has attended LCS since PK and loves it. We are extremely pleased with the school, their staff and especially teachers. Our daughter has learned some remarkable things at Lausanne and we look forward to her going all the way through high school graduation. Lausanne is a non-denominational school that stresses diversity and equality among all. It is rare in this area to find an institution that espouses such qualities. I was there briefly; saw parts of the elementary/lower school: Awesome playground, good set up for parent and student volunteering, well structured classroom and library, beautiful interior (shockingly including the indoor cafeteria and outdoor patio), and exterior. Visited here with a friend for the first time to watch “A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline” this past weekend. What a nice, cozy theatre and the play was amazing! They REALLY did a great job portraying the life of Patsy Cline! As other reviews stated, there are no bad seats. We happened to sit on the front row but next time I think I will want to sit a little further back so I can scan the stage a little better. Still great seats, though. Since I was visiting from Texas and didn’t plan on having to wear “nice” clothes on this trip, I had to go buy some jeans which I’m glad I did because I would have felt out of place wearing running shorts. You could probably get by with a nice pair of khaki shorts but don’t know if I would go wearing your short shorts. I couldn’t locate a dress code anywhere posted on the website which is why I’m mentioning it now. They have a little concession stand that sells a few drinks, wine, and little snacks. Parking is good too. You can park in the nearby garage or on the side of the street for free like we did but keep in mind it is 2 hr maximum. We visited during the day and had no issues even after being parked there for 2.5 hours. If you park across the street you will get to walk across the Pride or Black Lives Matter crosswalks just outside the theatre.Christopher ATX

Our daughter and her family gave my wife and me a two show gift subscription for Christmas. We used one to see the Smokey Joe's Cafe musical at Playhouse. It was fantastic! A lot of the music were tunes from our high school and college days. They were great! The cast was top notch! They all deserve rave reviews. We had a great time.James Binion

Worst sportsmanship I seen in 40 years at Perfect Game LakePoint this past weekend . Every team they played there were issues with the parent (especially the women and the parent of a the young man Bizzle I believe , I heard her say my son will be the president of the mill that your son will work for. Great school. I enjoyed the time I spent there and the education provided is way better than what I received at public school. If you're a black person too I wouldn't recommend you send your child here. The white students clearly haven't been exposed to black people outside of a TV screen. I was the butt to a lot of watermelon, chicken, nappy hair, and chocolate jokes. I don't blame it on racism but more on ignorance. Most of the students had never talked to black people before so they went with what they knew: stereotypes. It's not a healthy environment for a young black teen.Alliyah Edwards

Wow the assistant water polo coach is a disgrace to the team and the school. I have never seen. Coach at any level at in such an inappropriate manner towards the public. So unfortunate that a team with great attitude and skill is represented by that individual. Makes me question the school that would choose to allow that representation. I wouldn't recommend the school to anyone based on the hiring and continued use of a disparaging individual. If it were a corporation he would have been fired long ago and probably sued by other employees for abusive behavior.eric stevens

We loved this school! Our daughter went all 4 years of high school and we were very happy. The administration is dedicated and has a common sense approach to managing the school. Academics are good, teachers are good. No school is perfect and you will always have something to complain about but as a whole, this is a great school.Amy Howell

I have had 3 of my children go through the SPA. My son is still involved and is working on his 11th year with private lessons and has had years of opportunities to perform in group classes, ensemble, orchestra, and special events. The teachers here are involved, encouraging and inspiring and my son would not be the musician he has grown to be without the tremendous influence of Hannah Schmidt and this music program. It warms my heart to see how well these children grow and improve as time goes by. Parents are taught how to help their children and they are encouraged to be involved in lessons and group classes. Students get the opportunity to graduate from different levels as well as learning how to work hard with high expectations. The School of Performing Arts is unlike any place to start a lifetime of music enjoyment and skills for everyone. Thank you for all that you have done for my children. We have three children who have taken lessons at the School of Performing Arts for several years. The teachers at the SPA are some of the most highly trained skilled professionals that I have ever met. Not only are they trustworthy and amazing but they have become mentors to all of our children. The teachers encourage the students to use their gifts to glorify God. Everything is done with excellence and integrity. My absolute favorite thing about this school and the teachers/staff is that they love Jesus. This is a wonderful place where your children will feel safe and loved all while getting the very best training and education in a Christian environment. We are currently sending our second student through voice lessons at the Bellevue School of Performing Arts. We selected Bellevue SPA after careful research and found this program to meet all our expectations in terms of excellent teachers, value for the money and support from the staff. I received some great advice for my son…to start his lessons before his voice changed so that he would be trained correctly even as his voice adapted. I am so glad we did! His amazing teacher truly guided him through the process and we have been amazed at the progress he made this year. He even placed 3rd chair Bass in the Middle School All-West Choir this year! Crosstown Arts has the best movie theater in Memphis! In addition to a killer sound system and reasonably priced concessions, the programming is the absolute coolest. I've been able to see films I never thought I'd see on the big screen, and I've discovered some amazing movies that were totally new to me.Heather C

My daughter has taken from Mrs. Anna for two years at Christ Methodist Day School and simply adores her. She teaches the basics of Ballet with ease and maintains a fun and encouraging atmosphere. The class learns dance movement, body awareness and posture, stage presence, and how to follow instructions individually and as a group. My daughter has completely fallen in love with dance and music because of Mrs. Anna! She reinforces a job well done and has patience when a student struggles. Despite the class being taught as a group, she works with each child individually on posture and form. She works hard to inform the parents of what needs to be worked on, future practices and performances. Performances are always special with Mrs. Anna because of her attention to details such as formal performance cards and photos. We appreciate her hard work and Mrs. Mary Van Dyke’s hard work as well. When I had to make a schedule change, Mrs. Van Dyke took care of it with ease. She is friendly, easy to work with, and keeps up with each child’s progress! I cannot think of a better place for my child to grow, learn and express herself through dance!Hallie Hylander

My daughter began ballet class with Children's Ballet Theater as a first grader. She is now in high school and continues to dance with Children's Ballet Theater! We've watched her grown into a confident, strong, disciplined young woman. I truly believe that her ballet training with Children's Ballet Theater has had a huge impact on her young life. Children's Ballet Theater instructors are remarkable women and men who encourage children and youth to excel at dance and dance to the best of their ability. The instructors and director make a point to showcase an individual dancer's strongest ability while teaching the class to work together as a whole and rely on each other as a team. I will be forever grateful to Children's Ballet Theater for my daughter's experience and the confidence that she has gained, not only as a dancer but also confidence in herself.Hilary Chipley

My daughter loves CBT. She began dance at an early age with Mary and we have never been disappointed! Mary has such a wonderful way of teaching ballet and her love of dance is shown through how well trained and wonderful her dancers are. Her instructors share her love of dance and they are also wonderful with the kids. As a teen my daughter still looks forward to going to her classes several times per week and has always enjoyed learning what Mary and her instructors have to teach them. They are highly skilled and teach the children proper technique, while also having fun. I travel over a hour to attend these classes. I do not and will not regret it! It’s totally worth it. I have zero experience with acting and I have learned so much already in just 5 classes. His philosophies on teaching are truly remarkable because he genuinely cares about his students and their success. He pushes us to reach our full potential. Indie Acting Studio is the greatest place I could have ever found to start my acting career. I never knew how many opportunities there were for the film industry in Memphis until I started these classes. They're perfect for beginners because instantly you're introduced to the most supportive acting family where it's easy to feel comfortable and build your confidence. I’ve always enjoyed movies and anything that had to do with filmmaking but I had no idea how to pursue it. One day I saw an advertisement on Facebook and decided to give it a try. I was hooked from day one. Forrest truly cares about bringing out the best of you. Every time you attend his class you become a better actor, and gain the confidence to perform in front of others. I only wish I would have done this sooner. In addition to acting there are workshops that allow you to explore other avenues as an actor in films. Okay e.studio is life for my daughter and get this she is only 3 and she absolutely loves Mrs Ashley and Mrs. Lynsi. I saw such an improvement right way she loves learning the “Ballet Lingo” and Tap dance is literally her entire world. Not only is she learning to dance but she is learning to calm down and listen more she take directions very well now she is still your average wild 3 year old but dance is teaching her so much more and the ladies are so patient and kind with them I know they truly love her as a individual they took the time to get to know her as a kid!! I can to wait until she is old enough to take more classes I have watch one other child blossom as a pianist since her lesson are during my daughter classes I tend to sit close enough to hear this place is amazing in all thing performing Arts and I would recommend it to anyone!!!Sharon Pryor

My daughter has been taking dance, vocal and theatre classes from eStudio for over 6 years. We love it! She has learned so much and become highly skilled in all her areas of training. The training has been outstanding. One thing I love the most is that eStudio is such a great place to learn so many different aspects of the performing arts. My daughter is 3 years old we started her when she was 2 in twinkle stars. She was a lot of work on the teachers but they absolutely loved my Christina . She was really shy at first now she got this personality that is over the top. She still do her own thing in class 😂😂 but every teacher knows that’s just Christina. I feel lucky that my kids have the chance to go to an exciting and inspiring Victorian studio to dance! The best way I can describe Mrs. Tracy is that she’s always spot on, always appropriate to the situation. She is warm-hearted, but not sugary-sweet all the time—no dance teacher worth her salt is, as there’s discipline to be maintained. She puts a great deal of thought into everything. I have several children enrolled, so I am in the lobby a lot, and I’ve seen her ask for help and apologize for mistakes. It’s more than just a business; the staff is terrific, the recitals are exquisitely done, and the kids are getting an unforgettable experience!Great Again Mowing

Today was Aliyah's first dance class. As a parent of an child with autism I will recommend this academy 10x over. Mrs Amanda was the absolute best and completely patient with Aliyah. Absolutely amazing experience at this small, quaint theater! Me and my husband have only been once but I'm sure we'll be returning. We were definitely impressed! The advertisement for Sweeny Todd had caught my husband's eye. Otherwise, I don't think we would have ever discovered this theatre. Everything about the performance was outstanding from the actors to the stage as well as the front of house staff. When I purchased tickets for Clue I was told that mask were mandatory. II’m here and that is just not true, I’m outraged that people do not take this seriously. Show was awesome. Location of tickets were great but Seating sucked. Very Tight, bars were set up on tables as if in my back yard, limited security. Parking was 18.00 bucks. It was a packed house. Maybe a 19 inch screen with no sound outside the show area. Could not tell if I was missing my favor songs when had to go to restroom. (Which were not cleaned frequently. Sad women can be so nasty). We attended the Cannon Center for the Wale concert. It was amazing by the way… But parking is conveniently across the street which is a short walk. The security was very courteous and the staff assisted you and made sure that you had your appropriate seat and was comfortable. The vendors were very neat and organized for a rather large crowd. A great place to see a concert or play. Parking is across the street. Seating was great at the VIP section in the orchestra area. We went to seen Home Free it concert they are wonderful. Having had the privilege attending an all-girls school myself (in Nashville), I was confident that I wanted the same for my 2 daughters. My daughters are very different – one is more of an artist, and not an academic;). Most everything comes easily for the other one. St. Mary's has been fabulous for them both. They are both challenged to do hard things and stretch themselves. They are also both supported by classroom teachers, special area teachers, the chaplain, learning specialists, counselor, and head of the school. With both girls, we feel that St. Mary's is on our side. The teachers and administration don't just do we'd expect them to do for us, they go above and beyond to help our girls be their very best. Also, they are both just so happy and love going to school. It is a challenging, supportive community that celebrates each girl for who she is. We have enjoyed the community of friends and parents there as well.Molly Witherington

"The Great Cable Cooking Contest " was an hilarious adult comedy! All shows this year have been off the charts. Excellent location for an afternoon or evening out in the heart of Mid-town Memphis TN jewel– Overton Square! Ideal parking in garage just across the street was free if out by 6:00 p.m. If not, Rate is very affordable. And very easy to pay (simply enter your tag # at any parking kiosk near stairwell.) Security was very present. However, make their jobs & your insurance a blessing- don't leave valuables in plain site. can't wait to see what Theatre Works presents in year-end Holiday fun entertainment.Tammy Brown

As an educator, I have chosen Hutchison as a school for my daughters, not only for the academic rigor, but for more importantly how much my children are loved and nurtured. I encourage you to look at this school. I have not met any family who is unhappy once coming to Hutchison. I have only spoken candidly with those who left (reasons like moving or divorce) and miss it. It is a great ease to know that my daughters are very well taken care of and HAPPY.
