I was very happy with Kris Jackson she did my tour and always answered me when I had any questions. I started in January of 2021 still in the mist of COVID. I had a good experience, be prepared NOTHING IS EASY you have to study study study. I feel like most of the teachers there really do want to see you do good and will genuinely try to do a lot to help. I struggled a lot but there is always tutoring and someone willing to help. With every school comes drama that has nothing to do with school but just to know. There’s a lot of commitment when signing up so just know what your getting yourself into. The school teaches you a lot you need to know and has plenty of resources if you need more help. Only thing I wish I knew was more things that we could’ve been taught for the “real world” like a lot we get taught we need to know but there is some small things we have to know like trying to find veins by ourself or little tricks other than that I had a good experience. I would recommend if you are able to commit to a long hard program it is very rewarding in the long end.Emily Pham
As a former graduate of VTI and soon to be practicing veterinarian medicine for about a year I cannot thank the staff and mentors enough for caring and teaching me the skills that I use in everyday practice. They were always so thoughtful and there when you needed a helping hand wether it was something as big as tutoring before all classes started or as small as just small words of advice to keep students going through the program. The classes are geared towards exactly what you need to know and all the teachers seem to be very knowledgeable in which subjects they teach. If you are as lucky as me throughout the program you may even adopt your own 4 legged bestfriend you met during kennel duty!! 🙂Haidyn Craig
The Vet Tech Institute is an incredible school that teaches the reality of the animal career field. It teaches self discipline, personal instinct to trust, and an incredible amount of respect for the workers in any animal field. The staff are so incredibly patient and truly show their passion to teach and to love the animals we work with on an everyday basis. Being able to work with animals everyday in class only better creates a self confidence that has to be grown. This institute ensured me a successful career working with animals that no other school could do. I happily recommend it to anyone who is driven and ready to put in the work!Kelcey Harris

If anyone is looking into the medical assistant field please do yourself a favor and look at the pay rate and how much it costs to attend this horrible program. Program costs about 30k and MA barely make that yearly, you can go to a community college for about the same time and get paid to go. I cannot wait for SJVC to get sued for taking advantage of vulnerable people, giving false promises to students of a career in medical assistant, you will not be able to live on that type of low income. You have a better opportunity making more money at Target, most of my credits did not transfer even though I was told they would so I wasted my time. I had to retake most of my classes which I did in about the same time as I was at sjvc and will be applying to the nursing program. This is a horrible schoolJammy Jam
An amazing institution Went here as a student from Feb 2019 until graduation Oct 2019. I was enrolled in the front office medical admin program. 7 months and upon graduation, I passed and got nationally certified for billing/coding. My teacher Ms.Hernandez was amazing, caring and knowledgeable. The school and its staff went above and beyond for me (I was unemployed at the time) and now I am employed and have actual hope for my future. It taught me a variety of skills that applied in many jobs for medical assistants. The bad? It won't teach you everything. It won't get you a Masters Degree and a six figure job. But that's not the point of this trade School. It's a start, a path to better prospects. It's made good on that so far =)Vince M
I had previously been accepted to a university, having experience payment issues (that school was wicked expensive) I found SJVC, they help me make a smooth transition from the other school to there and my time there was amazing. Meeting different people from different programs and other people who just didn't want the traditional school experience. I went for my certificate MOA program (took 7 months of class time and 2 months of externship time). Loved my teacher and classmates and learning was easy and I understood all the lessons. I even got on the dean's list after getting my certificate. My career counselor even helped me find my full time job. Have nothing but good to say about this school and mostly my teacher.Jessica Hamilton

This review is for the Pharmacy Technician program at the San Marcos, CA campus, taught by Mrs. Becker. I am a graduate and was taught by Mrs. Becker. A 5-star experience. Mrs. Becker is passionate about teaching her profession. She truly cares about her students – she strives to get to know them, understand their strengths and weaknesses, and works with them to get them to success. The class meets for 4 hours per day, 5 days a week in a clean, modern classroom. I found it to be a safe, welcoming, and diverse environment. Really important for me: Mrs. Becker not only has outstanding integrity and professional credentials, but also a sense of humor! An actual pharmacist, who is wonderfully approachable, experienced, and caring, Mrs. Baca, comes in to teach certain classes, and substitutes for Mrs. Becker when needed. Together, they make a great team. A broad range of subject matter is covered, for example, math, law, pharmacology, customer service, and "hands-on" preparation of prescriptions (using mock ingredients of course). The program enabled me to get my state Pharmacy Technician license AND earn a certificate in sterile compounding before I even graduated! If you complete the program, you'll definitely be a competitive candidate in the job marketplace.Charles Griffin
As a former student in PIMA's OTA program, I can say that the OTA students probably have the most fun out of all the programs! The campus is really nice and located next to alot of resturaunts, which made getting lunch easy. Since the campus is fairly new all the OTA equipment is new and in good condition. Additionally, OTA labs were always engaging and applicable when working with actual patients during FW. Classes were a bit fast-paced, however, this is an accelerated program. Additionally, all the instructors were amazing and have great experience within different areas of OT which stood out in their ability to teach certain subjects. They also went out of their way to ensure that every student was successful in this program, which I appreciated. Occupational therapy is an amazing career that is versatile and allows you to specialize in different areas such as neuro, pediatrics, geriatrics, orthopedics, etc. It is a rewarding career that challenges you as a practitioner to think outside the box to ensure the best health outcome for your patients while looking through a holistic lens. If this sounds like a career that you are interested in, I would definitely look into joining PIMA's OTA program.melanie chhea
Currently enrolled in the respiratory therapy program and have had a great experience so far. The instructors go above and beyond to make sure we have what we need, with constant check ins for students. Everyone is there to help, all you need to do is ask and there’s full transparency. I would recommend others to join in getting their healthcare career started. Notably we have instructors that know their stuff and not just that actually care about how we are learning. Amazing so far can’t wait to further my education in this environment. 🙂Sergio Esparza

"Pima Medical Institute’s Chula Vista campus has been providing hands-on healthcare training to the San Diego community since 1998. The lab classrooms use the same equipment found in medical settings like hospitals and clinics. In addition, this campus has a strong relationship with the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility, which enables veterinary program students the opportunity for real-world veterinary training right in their community. This campus offers five certificate programs and three associate degree programs."
Review Summary
Pima Medical Institute in Chula Vista, CA has been a great educational experience for me. After completing their Vet Tech program, I feel confident in the skills I have learned & fully prepared to enter the animal medical field with a solid knowledge base. Everyone at the Chula Vista campus have been very helpful & supportive during the ~2 years of my educational path. Specifically, Diane O’Brien, RVT is a well informed instructor who combined professionalism & nerdy humor seamlessly, which made a fast-paced curriculum quite fun for me. I would highly recommend the Pima Medical Institute Vet Tech program to anyone seriously looking to become a Registered Veterinary Technician.Brittany Hughlett
I started school at Pima to do the VA course I give a huge shout out to Ms. Brooks she is amazing she is super knowledgeable and will teach you everything to prepare you for this career. I also give a shout out to Mr. Polanco he was amazing and such a good human being! I am currently in the Vet tech program and O’Brien has been great! She is a good instructor and also a genuine soul and always willing to help. Ms. Brewer has been my favorite she is the school director of the VT program and she is always helpful, respectful and professional. She is also the sweetest person.Vanessa Miranda
Love this school the teachers are amazing, specifically Ms J and Ms Perez in the dental assisting program they have been such a big help for me throughout my schooling here at Pima, they also helped me with my first dental assisting job and I was able to get paid during my extern thanks to them 🙂 I also would like to mention Mrs. Martha she was also very nice to me and helped me with my extern very professional as well. Overall Pima is a great school and if anyone would like to pursue a career in Dental Assisting I would definitely recommend coming here!!Karla San Martin

The worst group of teachers & counselors I have ever experienced. When a student has trouble passing classes they take over and over and over…says something about those teachers. I only know of one person graduating in 5 years from this school. I do not recommend this school, it's a waste of time and money.Linda Sorenson
It's a difficult program and not for everyone. That being said I love the small class sizes and hands on learning that I have received. I appreciate how the whole staff including the financial aid department are available to help you succeed. I am so happy that I took the opportunity to get my education here.Ginger Pospisil
Terrible program, the cost is easily 4x more than anywhere else and the knowledge they offer is no more than a basic 6 week long course. They say that you can receive college credit at their program. That is a lie. If you are looking to be a vet tech I would stay clear of this "school"Mark Glass

Review Summary
The teachers here are amazing and wonderful and do not get enough credit for all the little things they do. I was in the vet tech program. All the instructors for vet tech actually are RVT which is cool, cause they have seen so many things and worked in the field for so long, they are all so very knowledgeable. Most of the employees who worked in the office are also very helpful and kind. No one in the entire Carrington College Pleasant Hill location regarding faculty (including staff, office workers, janitors and teachers) gets the recognition they deserve. Everyone i met in the time during my program all went above and beyond what they were paid to do or had to do because the instructors and teachers really care about you and really want you to reach your goals. Any problems or issues you may be having the teachers will always help you or they will find someone who is better equipped to help and understand your issues or problems. The 2 years i spent here because thats how fast you can get your degree and diploma in a 2 year period went back so quick and i would completely do it again. All the teachers have there own way of giving you the information you need but it is your job to study it. My teacher was awesome so there were times when the teacher would stay later then needed just to help me and other studys or review any information that we werent completely comfortable with yet. It's nice to know that the staff, instructors and teachers really want you to know this information and will not get pass anyone who doesnt know there information. You get to work with so many beautiful animals both which students, and teacher bring in from there homes as well as the labs we attend to practice on larger animals such as horses and cows. It was all just one big thrilling event. All teachers, instructors and staff deserve a raise for the wonderful things they do just on a daily basis to help others that goes unnoticed. During my time here at the Carrington College Pleasant Hill campus i also worked there as a student worker. All staff members are overworked and underpaid. The higher up management people who get paid to do a job that they pan off on the others who are lower in ranked get all the opportunities as well as all the recognition for things they have no part in. I have seen multiple people quit or be fired for what others have done which is not right. The CEOs or whomever is at the top and makes the decision for everyone under them needs to pay more attention to there employees and actually realize what they are doing and know what they are worth. The instructors and teachers do not work here because of the pay or recognition that they so rightfully deserve and need, NO. They work here because they love the people here, because they love the students here, it's because they love what they do and they want us students to make sure we love it to. They do not want us paying so much money and taking all these classes if it is not something we actually want and like to do and are good in it. If all the little dogs got paid more and well enough as well as proper trainer for new employees and not just throwing them to the wolves making them feel overwhelmed and adding boatloads of paperwork to a single person already under stress and having a shoulder looked over every minute wondering if they are messing up because no one was there to properly train them, then the employees at carrington college pleasant hill campus would probably stay longer and would not leave due to things being mislooked at. Thank you for your time. I will always love and miss all the teachers i had, all the instructors who taught me something and all the staff members who became my friends both in and out of the work place.satin williams
My experience enrolling in Carrington College was amazing with Annaque Dean helping me with the process. She is the best 😊Maria Gutierrez
My teacher for the Dental Assisting course is top notch. Encourages questions and helps students not just learn the information to pass the course but understand the information in order to have a successful future career. For anyone considering a career as a dental professional, Carrington has an A+ program.Whatssit Touya

Edit: this was our long term vet care, but I can no longer recommend this practice. You can see my original review below. Over time it got harder and harder to be seen in a timely manner, which I understand. Busy practice. I’m a nurse and worked at a pediatric office for 7 years- I understand how medical offices run. My kitty was coming to the end- she had been sick a long time. So I made an appointment on Saturday to say goodbye. I was off on my timing by a day. On Friday morning, she was suffering, I called as the office opened hoping to be seen but was refused. I begged. He was so cold about it- “Go to the ER.” No compassion. No help. He did not even offer a phone number, or the name of where I should go. I started calling home euthanasia places but no one was available. I finally took her to a pet ER in the Sunset. She was so sick they would not allow me in the room with her. She died frightened with strangers. And the icing on the cake? On the car ride home with my empty carrier, SF Pet Hospital called. Their schedule was super light and would I like to move my Saturday appointment to this afternoon? If you value your pet- don’t go here. They will take thousands of dollars, break your heart, and your dog or kitty will suffer. Two stars. I would give one star but as a courtesy to the wonderful care I received before the practice changed hands, I will leave two. Photo of my Molly- who deserved love and compassion (and so did I). Original review: I have been coming to SF Pet Hospital since we moved to the neighborhood 17 years ago. 5 furr babies later (4 cats, and a senior dog)- having gone through emergency needs, chronic illness, end of life care, and everything in between I can say this practice is the very best.Charity Pitcher-Cooper
If you're looking for a professional and compassionate vet, look no further. Last Saturday, my rat was very ill and we needed medical attention ASAP. We knew she was sick and had taken her to a vet earlier in the week but things had taken a turn for the worst. We knew that we would have to put her down to save her from suffering. I spent nearly 2 hours calling vets in the bay area to find anyone that could help and everyone said they were booked or that they couldn't help. Then I found San Francisco Pet Hospital. The receptionist went above and beyond for us and explained out situation to the doctor. Keep in mind that they do not take rats as patients and yet they still offered to help. The doctor also had rats as pets and understood what we were going through and was extremely knowledgably. It was very difficult to say goodbye to Ghoul (our rat) but the compassion they showed and willingness to help was just incredible. I can not put into words how grateful I was for their help. So if you're looking for a vet for your fur baby, this is the place.Harrison Roberts
Dr. Villard is a wonderful veterinarian he's knowledgeable, and provided clear guidance.. Dr. Villard was extremely accommodating and supportive of me and my Foxy. My baby is like my child…I felt so worried and he made me feel comfortable in a highly stressful situation, also my Foxy has a history of seizures brought on with any anxiety or noises, she too felt comfortable in his hands. I feel very lucky to have Dr. Villard as my doctor for Foxy. He's been my veterinarian since 2009 and has always treated my Foxy with great care. Thank you The front desk also was very professional and helpful.elana Marino

I’m at my final stage at Carrington College, because I finished my extenship and in the process of getting hired. And I just wanted to give thanks to Felicia, Alex, Darshweni, Career services ( Lenni and Eva), Corey, Angel, Eleni, Cynthia, Michelle, Jasmine, Mark, my classmates of course, and Carrington College staff for helping me with a better career and to prepare myself for the medical assistant role in the healthcare system. This is a great college to attend for training/lectures to achieve your goals! You will be amazing with the technology and staff working here! You won't regret it!Kevin Boyer
I was very interested in beginning a career in the medical field and and when I inquired I was introduced to Dena and she was extremely helpful with everything i needed to know and answered all my questions, she helped me with enrolling, and it was a breeze. The entire process was easy and quick and I’m already finishing my 1st term. Throughout my entire term Dena kept in touch and made sure I was doing ok and asked if I ever needed anything, she has been more than helpful and attentive. I would recommend anybody contemplating coming here to do it!Tiesha Meacham
Carrington’s staff is so supportive, and truly wants to see their students succeed! I’m a student who has only gone through the enrollment process thus far and they all have made me feel so welcomed and excited to start the program. Dena Asefi specifically has pushed for me to start and get into the program, I know that she will be a great resource every step of the way. Very grateful for the organization of starting process and staff that handles that, it has made me very eager to begin and finish the school year!!Isela Gonzalez

This school only cares about the money you pay them. I remember the director contacting me so many times in a week to pay my past due. I was still waiting for my VA benefits to kick in. Then I was told if I don’t pay by this date, I will be removed from the program. So I applied for a loan to pay off my past due. After that I was never harassed again. I expected a lot from this school. From great didactic instructors to clinical instructors. But that did not happened. I only had one good didactic instructor. My clinical instructor was lazy and always complaining. The leadership did not care about you. Just their well being as a school. Your grades don’t matter. Also they did not care if you are a military veteran. There were times that I had to clock in using my phone which is not allowed, but my clinical instructor was always late so I couldn’t clock in using a computer. I was removed from the MRI program because I was DISHONEST. Instead of helping you to improve, they just remove you from the program because they got what they needed from you. MONEY! No kind of remediation whatsoever. Just after your MONEY. You’re better off with Unitek where they care about their students emotionally, spiritually, and personally. Being a nurse is way better than being an MRI tech.👎Ervan Valdez
I applied to the Gurnick Academy ultrasound technology program ( San Mateo campus ), At first I was getting constant email reminders to complete documents before the deadline date . After I completed everything I had an panel interview set up , the interview went well overall but I was asked a certain question that I didn’t completely understand and when I hesitated ( and felt nervous ) the interviewer rudely responded with frustration at my delayed response . At the end of the interview they informed me that I would receive a response within 3 weeks. Within a few days I received an email demanding that I complete a financial aid form within that day “ just in case” I get into the program even though I hadn’t received an acceptance letter. Well.. 3 weeks passed and I sent a follow up email kindly thanking everyone that attended the interview for there time and consideration . I didn’t get a single reply back from that email , a month after the interview day they emailed me informing that I didn’t get in and should try applying next year . The negative reviews I read after the fact are correct , it seemed like they were only after money .Amani Abdaw
I have had the pleasure of working with Gurnick and their students for over 4 years and can say it has been a wonderful experience. The MRI students sent to my facility for clinical training are professional, hard-working and team players. All my Technologists are Gurnick grads! A big thank you to Elena Danilova for building such a great relationship with me and my facility.Kimberly MacDonald

*UPDATE* I wanted to update this review by saying I first reached out to the hospital to let them know my concerns before writing this review. They have been very responsive and receptive to what I had to say. I really appreciate their concern and willingness to learn from this as well as share with me how they plan to do better in the future. Yesterday I took my cat to this hospital because she hadn't been feeling well and to establish care since I am new to the area. I want to preface this review by saying I used to be an RVT and worked in the veterinary field for about 10 years. I also understand how busy vets are right now (and always) and they are currently having to see clients in the parking lot because of the pandemic. It is stressful all around, but what I experienced is unacceptable. Everything was great until I got my cat back the first time. I noticed the towel that came in her carrier was gone and a potty pad was in the carrier. I also noticed blood on her belly. When I mentioned the blood to the woman she took her back in the hospital to have her checked. The second time I got her back I was told she didn't have blood on her and the potty pad was removed and not replaced. When I got home I took her out and her backside was covered in dried urine, she had a hematoma (this is like a bruise but swollen with blood) where blood was drawn, blood covering her leg and abdomen, and bruises on her abdomen. This blood was dried and had been there for some time by the look of it. I called to explain the condition of my cat and my disappointment. The doctor ended up calling and apologizing, which I appreciate. I was told they would check in tomorrow. I have yet to receive a check in. I did email them again today because I noticed patches of fur missing. This fur wasn't missing when I brought her in. I did notice a clump of fur in her carrier when I got her back but didn't think anything of it until I saw missing fur on her neck. This is only an assumption, but based on my experience it looks like someone scruffed her and ripped out her fur. I don't think any of this is intentional. I think they truly care about pets. I do think this is what happens when hospitals are busy, rushing, and not giving the attention to each patient/client that they deserve. I totally understand how my cat could get a hematoma, have some blood on the leg after a blood draw, even have peed in her carrier and cage. What I don't understand is returning a cat (or any pet) in this condition. It was very hurtful to see my cat this way.Haley Gonzales
Called in to set up an annual appointment, to get follow up shots from seeing an out of town vet while traveling. The receptionist was rude from a previous conversation (2 weeks earlier) where she said "Please DO speak with the management about my attituded, I would love to see how that works out for you" She continuously repeated that the Dr. would not give vaccines without an exam because they would lose their licenses. I dont know how many times I responded that I was not asking to give shots without an exam. The manager had a difficult time apologizing for this behavior by saying "I am sorry IF YOU think the receptionist said that". Finally she apologized once I told her that I have been coming there for 3 years and have always had great experiences, I would love to keep coming. The Dr.'s have been great and they had helped me understand everything in detail. I would love to bring the puppy I just got there but with todays experience with the same receptionist I just cant! I called an the receptionist seemed to come up with every reason not to bring my dog or new puppy there. Not accommodating at all. Please, the Dr.'s at Claremont Veterinary Hospital should read this and take to heart how the first point of contact is delivering the initial experience to people. I was already a loyal, good client. Spayed my first dog, treated her for eating some grapes, even helped when she was stung by a wasp, and annual health checks. The receptionist turned me away. If that's ok with you (losing our past and future business) then I guess I am glad to leave. If not, please help the receptionist with their attitude for the next customer, you can even reach out to me to help persuade me in coming back. For reference my dog's name is Mochi F. but I hope the receptionist doesnt treat everyone this way and can remember our conversation at about 10 am 7/18/2022. I recommend you find another vet or you may invest in this place only to be turned away later like me.till ithz
Technologically incompetent. Several weeks after my initial request to schedule an appointment they were finally able to give me a date. A week before the appointment they called in the middle of the work day demanding credit card information before ever seeing my pets. (If a deposit was required, why didn’t they request it when the appointment was scheduled?) I don’t keep my bank cards on me at work so I couldn’t provide it then and asked them to call my husband instead or email a form or an invoice to fill out because I would not be home until after their office closed. They told me I could call back before 6pm that day to pay or my appointment (that I waited nearly a month for) would be cancelled. They never called my husband, but we each called multiple times, collectively wasting an hour during our busy work days to get ahold of them. The phone was either busy or no one answered even when we were the only people in the queue. They never even told me how much the deposit would be nor would they send an invoice breaking down the cost, (again this is all before we even had the appointment). The receptionist in charge of scheduling and contacting patients is either incompetent or this is a scam. Based on the other reviews poor customer service is an ongoing issue. Don’t waste your time or money.Dana Jens

Vasco Career College was a great experience! It was an honor to be a student of Mrs. Dru. Not only is she the director of Vasco Career College college, but also the instructor and taught for pharmacy technician class! I’ve had my fair share of struggle in her class but Mrs. Dru was very helpful and motivating. She helped me throughout the whole process from start to finish and made sure I did everything right, from passing the class, to externship, and to applying for the board of pharmacy. I learned a lot within the time frame for the class. I totally recommend this place if you are looking to get in to the pharmacy field. Mrs. Dru also offers other classes that I’m sure are great and well worth it! Thank you to Vasco Career College for helping and guiding me to where I am in my career now. Thank Mrs. Dru! – PPamela Hollon
I completed a pharmacy technician program at Vasco Career College in November 2017. I have tried to study on my own for quite some time. In the end there still were some areas I struggled with. After completion of this program, I can tell that my knowledge improved dramatically. Ms. Drusella is a very competent instructor who is very knowledgeable and is able to present material to her students in a way that is easy to understand. She takes her time to explain everything and ensures that her students are not left with any unanswered questions. I am very glad I took this course here since now I feel confident and prepared for my PTCB examination and my future career. It's well worth the money and time I invested. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone.Viktoriia Bernier

Honestly hate to bash a veterinary office but this place is on my last nerve. My cat had a pre existing allergy that she has received meds for from previous vets. The vet at EBVC told me in person she would also fill said prescription after examining my cat. Where, by the way, she also basically guilted/forced me to have about $450 worth of tests done and shamed me for giving my cat these meds (without offering an alternative of course). When it came time to fill the prescription, they denied it without notifying me. I had to hear from my pharmacy. It has now been almost 3 weeks of back and forth between me and the various receptionists and the pharmacy. Honestly laughable. First claiming I needed a statement from my previous vet and then suddenly saying I could approve it myself. Basically it feels like a joke. Thank goodness, I have extra meds for my cat and it hasn't been an emergency. It's experiences like this though that remind you these places are just businesses and trying to make money without actually caring to understand their patient's issues.Amy Nowak
I took my new rescue for her first vet visit and they were all so kind and informative. They call to remind you of appointments and call to check up after a service. The doctor walked me through all of the things they did and checked and was very open to questions or concerns. Everyone there seems patient and happy to be there. (There are definitely some miserable folx who should not be working with people and animals) I'm new to having a dog and was very anxious, I will continue to use EBVC. Pic is post vaccine, sleepy but in no pain. Update: I continue to use EBVC, my dog is in there more often than I'd like but we've been lucky to get a same day appt twice for an urgent issue. Dr.Gill continues to give solid assessment and treatment options. They don't try to coerce you into all/more expensive options. The entire bill is gone over in detail before payment. Payment is due same day, be ready.pj Pellegrino
I wish I could give them 1/2 a star rating!!!! one star is too high! They have been caring for my puppies for at least 6 years. they are getting progressively worse with the care they provide & appointment availability. I can never get my dogs in for urgent appointments. Twice now when my dog needed care on an urgent basis they 1) never returned my message to schedule an appointment and 2) when I kept calling and finally got someone on the phone they were "booked all day" and could not see my dog. both times, I hung up and called a new vet in walnut creek and they gave me a same day appointment. I am changing my vet to walnut creek. its a bit of a drive but at least I can get the care I need.Poupak Nikzad

On Friday march 19th I brought my 10 week old, premature 1.5lb kitten into Banfield hospital in Colma (4937 Junipero Serra Blvd, Colma) thinking he would be safe and oh boy was I wrong. I wish I had never brought him in. They assured me he would be okay and taken care of and FED because I told them he needs to eat every 4 hours. I picked him up at around 1:45pm after he had been there since 9am. Only upon arrival they told me they had made a “mixup” and gave my kitten TWO doses of the same shot YES TWO! And then gave him a shot of benedyral WITHOUT my permission!! They NEVER CALLED TO ASK! They only told me once I came to the hospital then Dr.yip and Dr. Monica tam refused to apologize and they refused to tell me who almost killed me 10 week old kitten. I feel so betrayed and disrespected by how unbelievably Unprofessional and unethical this hospital takes care of its patients. Dr.Tam looked me in my eyes and told me “she protects her employees over her customers” so she is willing to take the fall for the “mix up” and loose her license over it and I promise you she will 🙂 . And lastly, they never fed him! By the time I got home my poor kitten was meowing in starvation and finished twice the portion he normally does. If you want your pet to come back alive DONT COME here. Because dr. Tam refused to give me the name I only know its a male either named Paul, Ryan or Giovanni l is an attempted CAT KILLER and he will loose his job too. Its a shame that they care more about money and their corporate jobs then the lives of animals. All this could have been prevented with proper communication. If dr.yip and dr.tam had some sort of common sense they would’ve fired their employee that caused this rather than a slap on the wrist and patting his back because hes crying and “feels bad”.Leeron Ben-Ari
Very impolite interaction during a sensitive time. Tried making a last-minute appointment at this location. We were desperately looking for a vet inspection certificate to fly home with our animals due to a death in the family. After Natalie asked me why I was calling, she cut me off 5 words into my sentence to ask to put me on hold, then asked if this was an emergency or if I had an appointment. Before I could continue speaking she told me they were booked through the entire weekend. There was a way for that interaction to not be so rude, and I was disappointed in Banfield for it.Tim Turi
I felt so well taken care of by the ladies here today. I was worried after my dog, Moochie got scratched by the eye. They immediately were super attentive, got her triaged, and had the vet take a look at it. After Moochie was seen, they let me know she would be okay but that we should make a follow up appointment just in case. This place definitely earned my business and my trust. Thank you!Eileen Nicholes

I called to get information on two programs. Because I'm paying for this and have a child and want to see which program fits not only myself but my family aswell. The young lady who helped was very rude telling me there two different programs and why I wanted information about both which ^^ I explained and she got irritated I was requesting information about both she said I'm not doing both choose one I did and that program director reached out but I couldn't hear her and so she hung up never called back. I call back telling her what happened and if she can have either programs director call me cause I want to get the ball rolling and there's online hygienists she proceeds to yell we don't have that we only have this I said can I finish saying it's online she then says yes it's online online only I'm like yes I know. she's says we'll I'm only able to put you in one so choose I do again so again I'm waiting for the call to get basic information class schedule how many units start date cost of program. Very rude from girls who initially answer you guys are for front for sjvc you should be more professional and if you don't know something atleast talk as if you do and don't interrupt what ppl are trying to explain so you can get off the phone to continue your conversation with your Co worker.Angeles Garcia
I was really excited to return to school and gain some experience to finally get a job. My instructor was very helpful and kind. But when it would come to administration, that was a whole different thing. It would take them a while to reply, my previous career advisor would take almost two weeks. With my previous career advisor, I felt like my suggestions and my goals were thrown out the window. It honestly made not want to even associate with them anymore. And I didn’t. Of course, this may have upset them, but after being left with no answers, I didn’t want to waste my time. I was told that I would get a job as soon as I graduated. And even though I was grateful for being given the chance, I left the job. I was severely unhappy and I realized that it’s not what I even wanted or suggested from my career advisor. Thinking on it now, I feel like I have done my career search all on my own. I honestly regret I even went back to school.Mina Miranda
I graduated the surgical technology course in September, 2018. I love SJVC!! Within less than a week of graduating, I applied for a job and went to work as a surgical tech. The instructors were fantastic, the courses challenging and stimulating, and the pace was fast. Best advice: Hit the ground running, don't procrastinate, be prepared for class, do all of your reading, assignments, and projects as soon as they are assigned, and you'll do fine. Everyone at SJVC has been so helpful… It's definitely not a regular junior college campus. (Thank God…) I highly recommend SJVC, no matter what field of study one chooses to pursue.Frank H. Weeden

If I can give zero stars, I would. Milo goes to Banfield regularly. His last two visits were in July 2021 and September 2021. Last Sunday, January 23, Milo beat me on a race to the top of the stairs. Milo and I played the morning before he went to Banfield for a ROUTINE wellness check last Tuesday, January 25, at 11 am. I received a call at 1 pm from the doctor telling me that Milo was ok and his heart murmur had not changed. I asked to check Milo's coughing and see if he was healthy enough to have a dental cleaning. They said they would do an x-ray. At 3 pm, they called me back saying that Milo did not do well after the x-ray and was in heart failure, and is on oxygen. What the h*** happened? It looks like they applied undue stress on Milo to go into heart failure! I picked Milo up, and he was not breathing right. I took him to the ER pet hospital, where they told me that his heart had grown and that they could not do anything for him. Milo died at 9:23 pm that same evening. Then the next day, Banfield charged me for Milo's monthly wellness plan! I told them Milo was gone, but they said they would not refund my money. My Milo is gone, and they want me to pay for his wellness plan?! I am heartbroken.Liza Gino
Still receiving great care and saving a ton. After about 3 years, still happy and really like the staff in Pacifica. I've only had one mishap with scheduling. In a few years, I'd say that's pretty amazing. I did have a huge issue with the corporate billing department (out of the office)….But I never had to deal with the lady again, and the issue was revolved by somebody nice. As long as you really understand your care plan, there are no surprise costs. I've never been encouraged to spend money on unnecessary tests or services as I have at many other offices. I did opt to have my late kitty's surgery at a different vet, but only because I was able to afford a top surgeon in the area that was recommended. My current kitty did have a minor surgical procedure though, which went great. The staff also taught me how to care for wounds, etc at home. I really like the doctors my kitty has seen and it's helpful for my pet's sake to be able to use the same location to combat the stress of going in. I really recommend the care plan, the services included add up to much more elsewhere if you take full advantage.Jennifer Hogan
Based on free office visit $65, we ended up with $260 bill. Compared to Colma pet hospital, the service is moe through and detailed with more results. Banfield seems to be more interested in selling health plans (2x). I had a Thursday 9:30am but was actually scheduled Friday 10:00am. The facility is new, clean, modern, with adult and children area. Free weighing service, cats can be difficult. Colma pet has lower fees and our cat had a ingrown nail in his pad. We tried to combine the annual exam with the ingrown nail. No combining or annual vaccinations etc. Both vets spoke about gingivitis and tooth care needed. Four stars means good through service with minus one for prices. update…we went back to Colma Pet Hospital for unneeded booster. Dr Cruz found his missing microchip. Our pet Einstein got his rabies vaccination and trimmed nails. Banfield staff is too busy selling their insurance program(3x) during our visit.Franklin Chun

I am a current student at American college of healthcare massage and physical therapy program. I highly recommend this program, since you will have two sets of skills about graduation . You can work as a massage therapist in any of the resorts, hotels or massage parlors local to where you live. Most massage therapy students have been hired by Massage envy, which is partnered with the school. You can also get a physical therapy assistant position at a physical therapy establishment. it takes around 8 months and before you know you graduate and can get a good job.Ali Bekam

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE DR. O'CALLAGHAN AND HER TEAM! I've been to several Banfield locations across California and Texas, as well as other vets, and my experience with Dr. O'Callaghan has been beyond compare! She is excellent across all domains – bedside manner, offering alternative treatment options, being thoughtful about budget, answering all of my many questions with scientific rigor and integrity, and most importantly being a top notch vet to my dogs. I have 2 dogs, one of whom had her 2nd TPLO knee surgery w/ Dr. O'Callaghan. The first TPLO went really well and was done by the same surgeon (different Banfield location), and yet the 2nd surgery with Dr. O'Callaghan went noticeably better – My dog came out of her surgery dramatically less stressed and her post-op medication mixture seemed to work better for her, which to me said everything I needed to know about the elevated level of care Dr. O'Callaghan and her team provides. When I asked what magic she pulled to make my dog so calm this time around, she said that (other than the perfected medication protocol) she and the team had wrapped my dog up in a swaddle of soft blankets and set her on a warming pad while they monitored her vitals after surgery to make her extra cozy. Dr. O'Callaghan also proactively suggested a health plan that would save me a few hundred dollars this year. It's that kind of attention to detail, despite them being the busiest vet office I've ever been to, that sets them apart. My dogs hate vet visits, but they love the vet techs at this location! The dogs are now friends with some of the staff and will go to them for pets and comfort when they're feeling anxious. <3 It's definitely a busier vet office, but I've never had issues scheduling an appointment. I appreciate that they are open on weekends and offer drop off. Having the Banfield network has been really fantastic, especially if you aren't always staying in one place. If you're based in San Francisco and looking for a vet, I recommend Dr. O'Callaghan and the whole team at the Lombard Street Banfield!Alex Park
I had to take my tiny 4-pound poodle in for extensive oral surgery. It had gotten pretty bad and was fairly serious. I had hoped be back home and have this surgery with my vet (in NYC) but due to a family emergency, I was sort of "stuck" in SF. I booked the surgery with Banfield having never been there before. They were super helpful, communicative and informative. The price was less than half what I was going to be charged in NY. The staff was so patient about everything. I have to give a huge thank you to Dr. O'Callaghan, who took the extra steps to reassure me. I was a complete mess with worry about my pet (plus the added stress of being in a city that isn't mine and taking care of my very ill mother) so this special care was even more appreciated! I would definitely recommend them!Abby Ehmann
Would usually go to the Berkeley location but this one had a sooner appointment. I absolutely regret going here. They tried to charge me for services I decline. They were terrible with communication. My cat is very sick and I haven't received the bloodwork they were supposed to call me about 12 days ago. Im calling multiple times a day and they tell me they’ll leave a note for the vet. **Emailed them as their response stated here. No one reached out, no follow through. The vet finally got back to me days later. She was confrontational and said no one had told her I was trying to get the bloodwork from her.**Bella Goodman

Review Summary
I am a long-time customer with Banfield Pet Hospital with multiple dogs over the last 22 years. I am a resident of New York State. 2019 I came to visit California for a social engagement and unfortunately my dog (Coco) encounter a bad accident (electric shock due to chewing a live wire on 22March2019). After the first response in an emergency (Berkeley Dog & Cat Hospital); I took Coco to Banfield at 15555 E 14th street San Leandro CA 94578 for further treatment. After they started treating COCO every week, she started facing new symptoms, she was in huge pain Banfield also prescribe wrong medicine for her wounds burnt more and she refuse to take any medication by mouth. Banfield continuously treating her wrongly and giving me bad advice just to make money for their business and fulfill their business goal and By that time Banfield had performed two surgeries on her and many tooth extractions including molar and many medication changes. Still could not give her any relief by that time I started to suspect they are giving her wrong treatment. I started to take other vet’s opinion and confirm my doubt. I wanted to go back to my home in New York, but I was not allowed to board on an airplane with a sick dog. I had to wait till she was little stable. Al this time she was on pain taking strong pain medication witch could have damaged her kidney. I used to make a smoothie with her food and give her drop by drop just to keep her alive She was like a vegetable not move not bark not yawn she was not able to do anything. As per other veterinary opinion Banfield should not have performed any surgery on my dog since there doctors are general veterinarian and my dog needed a board certified dental surgeon and that why surgery was not successful they could not do it right and she was suffering After 3 months I came back to NY and trying to find out a dental surgeon who can reconstruct her face and give her a pain free life. After searching for 2/3 week I found Veterinary Dentistry Specialists Dr. Carlos A Rice 2061 Briggs Rd #403, Mt Laurel Township, NJ 08054 I took coco to him and after initial checkup he gave me hope. He did the surgery on the same day (10th July 2019) and my Coco yawn for first-time in 4 months I had to go back again to him after 10 days for final check up by that time Coco is absolutely fine and her personality came back. Accident happens when she was 11-month-old after she was recover her puppyhood has been extended. Unfortunately in US it is still difficult to file a malpractice case for pet animal I tried to let Banfield know about the injustice happen to my dog and me as a very old customer After contacting 10 /15-time one guy name Kurt Sakata called on 5th September 2019 and took all detail and document from me and promise me he will look in to the matter and try to give me justice but he did not do anything or call back. I waited one year they did not come back to me with any resolution. I am writing my story so no one else suffer like me and my little dog. Banfield claim before they are heath care professional they are pet loves That is not all true they did not show any empathy in my case. Not all location and all doctor is bad in Banfield I have better experience but you need to careful they love money more than they care about your pet. My suggestion Use the good Banfield location But always try to raise voice when you see this kind of issue. Also don’t pay any donation to Banfield. They take huge money from us “Their Customers “ as a donation/ Charity I have doubt how they spent that money how much really goes to the needy pet care They have set up there payment gateway such a way that you have to make your donation choice first before you pay for any product or service in Banfield What they are doing with this money you don’t know may be in every dollar they are spending 1 cent for the animal and keeping 99 cent for them as an administration fees Still they will be legally correct.Biyas Roy
I've been with Banfield for many years approximately 10 years, without any complaints. The staff here were friendly, they would always cater to my dogs needs, and were extremely helpful and reliable. Throughout the recent years however, I've noticed the vast amount of pets that are beginning to arrive to Banfield, meaning your pets will no longer be cared for properly, and scheduling for a routine check up means waiting nearly a month. New staff are coming in and I notice some being really rude to customers. My recent experience has made me realize that this is not the place for my pets. If you really care about your pets don't bring them here. I spoke to corporate about my costumer service experience with both front desk staff and the manager here at this establishment. They do not care about customer service, rather they only care about taking your payment. Unbelievable customer service here and when your pet needs to be seen immediately they do not have the staff to do the job. My dog needed an emergency surgery and not a single Banfield location had the staff to perform the surgery. Worst experience of my life! If you value your pets do not bring them here. I can not believe I wasted my time with Banfield.Nancy F.
Most of the time, this has been a good pet hospital. Once in a while, the receptionists could be pretty rude and careless with bad attitude. They would let you keep waiting until you missed your assigned appointment while answering the phone. The grooming service in the same facility has been the same situation. It's really great if you know who to ask for. Otherwise, your pet might be returned with some unfinished jobs. You can only get that if you are careful and knowing what's supposed to be included. September 2019 updates: We’ve recently visited the Banfield hospital again. The receptionists have been very helpful, friendly and courteous. This is such an impressive improvement since our previous visits! Kudos to the personnel. We appreciated it greatly. However, I did notice the front door areas have been very filthy with trash and urine stains (dry and wet). It’s not kept clean in my recent visits. See the attached pictures. Hopefully they can clean up frequently.Pno Ens

just read a negative review by someone named JJ, who does not even use her real name giving misguided information causing those interested to get an education and improving their lives have a second thought. Please ignore this person since she seems to have ulterior motives and have wrong information. I attended the Veterinary Assistant program at California Healing Arts college last year and it was a wonderful program. They teach you every aspect of veterinary care. I was overwhelmed with the knowledge learned. She is talking about the X-Ray, In California you can not operate an X-ray machine unless you graduate from a two year program in VETERINARY TECHNICIAN, DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING, which is a branch of Veterinary Technician. Legally you can never touch an X-ray machine as a Veterinary Assistant that this program offers. She stated to start from the bottom and work yourself up the ladder; if you are hired, with the competition with the graduates of all the Vet assistant programs the chances of getting hired by a reputable Animal Hospital is very low. The investment that you make with this program is partially paid by a grant from the federal government and there are different scholarships available that you might qualify. There might be a small student loan that you will be paying a minimal payment six months after you graduate. One thing that JJ is right is that the school helps you to land a job. The school gave me a free Laptop with all my books and course works on it, that alone was worth close to $1000.00. The instructors are so knowledgeable with great patience that you have for 8 months teaching you the latest in veterinary medicine. I am currently working as a vet assistant and planning to become a Vet tech in the future by gaining more experience. You also meet lots of friends that are on the same journey in the program.Wilma Stokes
DO NOT take the VA program! And here is why… You don't need an education to be a veterinary assistant, you can literally apply at an animal hospital and they will be willing to train you! Or just start from the bottom like doing kennel/receptionist and work your way up. You will be assisting the staff either way. Someone else made this remark on yelp as well and I totally agree! Save your money! I attended this school a few years ago and it was nothing like it in the real world. This school lacks in a xray, anesthesia, dental machines that is needed to learn as a VA! Externships dont let you learn those things either because this school doesn't even have the resources, heck your not even provided a dosimeter badge to take x-rays when your sent off to externship, so how do they expect you to learn?! And still expect you to pay your full amount tuition. Lastly, jobs will ask if you are certified, which this school does NOT offer a AVMA exam to be considered certified. All you get is a diploma which is not good enough when your looking for a job. Diploma or not your pay will be the same for that reason, it doesn't mean you have a higher chance of getting hired either. I would recommend starting from the bottom or just go to school to be a Registed Vet Tech….2 stars because its NOT worth the tuition cost and lacks in teaching you actual skills however, staff at the time were dedicated in finding me a job.Jj Pp
Overall I would suggest going to a community college or maybe even uei college. I went to the medical assistant program. It’s been 3 months since I graduated and have not received my certificate. No graduation ceremony was held either. This is coming from a straight A student who should have had honor roll recognition as well. When I was attending the school I would receive various calls asking if I was interested in the MA program despite already attending. I learned more by myself and in extern than the class itself. Class equipment and techniques are outdated as well.Stephi Nava

Review Summary
The veterinarians in this place might be good but the way they are communicating with pets' owners is horrible. Yesterday, I had a pretty bad experience with the SF SPCA Mission campus dental department. A month ago, during a regular vet visit to the hospital, I was told that my 5 y. o. dog needs his teeth to be cleaned under anesthesia. I made an appointment and yesterday my dog had this procedure done. Nobody told me that teeth extraction is possible. After the procedure, I called the hospital and talked to a dental technician who told me that my dog is doing well and the only procedure he had was cleaning. So, I was shocked a half-hour later when I came to pick up my dog to find that 5 teeth were extracted. The doctor Julie Lowe who talked to me when my dog was released was cold and not empathetic – talking to me with words like "Can you stop being emotional? Can I continue?" – no sympathy at all. When I asked why I wasn't told that this visit can end up with teeth extractions, she said that teeth extractions were included in the estimate. I can't find this estimate now – but the only thing I remember from this estimate is that the price will be from one to two thousand dollars- is an estimate form really the way to explain possible treatment to pet owners? Nobody even bothered to tell me that my dog can end up with his teeth being extracted. I talked to other dog owners who were in a similar situation – most of them told me that they were receiving calls from dentists during dog procedures and doctors explained to them what needs to be done and asked permission to extract teeth. Now my dog needs a special diet and I need to make sure he doesn't tear the stitches in his mouth, he is not supposed to walk or be unsupervised. I had no idea that this could happen – and it's just good luck that I didn't plan, say, a trip.Marina Chentsova
I usually don't write reviews that are so scathing, but this placed deserved a ZERO stars. We were told that all regular appointments were booked out until June, but if we paid extra to get our dog immediately we could pay extra and have his case be handled on an emergency basis. Were were told in advance that the wait time to see a doctor on Friday was 1.5 to 2.0 hours since they only had one doctor. So, we get there at 8.30 and we're again told again there is only one doctor and it'd be 1.5 to 2.0 hours. That's what we expected so we were fine with that. We waited, and waited, and waited until we were tired of waiting (about 3.5 hours). We went to the front desk and let them know how long we'd been waiting. We'll, their excuse was that there was only one doctor on Fridays, to which I told them that I was aware of that (wouldn't let them use as an excuse since I was told this aside from the wait time). I pretty much told them that their excuses were really not valid. I was finally told that it usually takes between 4 and 6 hours to be seen on an emergency! And usually longer. What a crock! I cancelled and left. I will NEVER go back there again for any reason whatsoever. This is supposed an organized organization, laughable. As I was leaving, they recommended other places. If you're turning people away because you can't handle your customers and potential customers, it's only because you can't manage your business.Julian Munoz
I highly recommend the SPCA for your pets! This is for the spay/neuter clinic, I walked in for my appointment nervous not knowing that it was first come first serve for appointments. I arrived a little late for the 8am check in. After arriving at 8:15am I waited around an hour, when I finally got my number called I was thoroughly explained everything and was asked if bubbles vet history/ vaccinations up to date. The nurses answered every question I had and gave me peace of mind and after that I was told to come back at 5pm for pickup. I picked up bubbles 30 mins late and there was no issues at all everything went smoothly! She was very well cared for and I was thoroughly explained her medication requirements following the surgery!! I’d like to thank Dr. Darien Rodriguez for taking care of bubbles today and all the vet techs at this location for their outstanding work!!Saula Gonzalez
