20 Best Vet Tech Programs In Raleigh, NC (2022 Updated)

The school maybe nice, I never had the opportunity to explore, however; their paramedic program is a joke. The staff runs each class on different criteria, for instance my instructor (Wesley Carter) stated we don't do pulse checks in CPR after the first check indicating an arrest. However; as a BLS CPR instructor that is false and the AHA teaches pulse check. However; he was my instructor so in order to test out I did as he wanted and when a different instructor tested me they failed me for using the broslow tape and for not checking pulses, said I should have done it by weight based and the broslow tape is a guideline. Since then I have spoken to several national certified paramedics, nurses, and physicians that state this school is a joke and shouldn't be teaching students period and that the broslow tape is there for a reason to assist in dosing a pediatric patient when weight is not obtained. The instructors can't get on the same page and give out different requirements and if you do what one says it's wrong to every other instructor. Also they give you test out scenarios at the end every instructor does 2 which is you standard, set by North Carolina and my instructor is the only one that does 3 scenarios. No uniformity and poor quality instructors. Horrible experience that I will never get my time, my money, and my family gatherings, birth of my child, and events because these people are not on the same page.Kevin Meiser

Get me outt. If I could drop out i would. This college is awful I learn more from quizlet then I have with any teachers. The teachers here are all lazy and only care about their paycheck. I asked for help and never got a response from one teacher and I still haven't :P. What I would give to be able to drop out from this college. I'd probably learn more by asking my dog for help then any teacher here. If your looking to attend DON'T. The classes are overpriced 400 dollars for ONE CLASS. That is awful. I felt so bad I paid my parents back the money because the prices are horrendous and you won't learn anything. 2 stars for providing a college beyond high school in Kinston. One star for pay compared to other community colleges that pay adjunct instructors $35+ per hour. How has LCC contributed to Lenoir County in skills and talent? On Pitt college's website it states that its students have contributed over $114 million dollars to the local community. I walked around the college grounds and it is boring, no energy or excitement. Lastly, LCC should market more to Black students and the Black community because although Kinston is almost 70% Black; it's not reflected in its student body. I don’t even know where to begin with this place. First of all if you are considering going here you need to run in the opposite direction. I moved here from out of state and gave this institution 10,000 of my dollars just to be disrespected and ridiculed by the faculty and staff. My high school teachers were more competent and respectful than anyone here. The school is run down and smells like mildew other than the main building they use to advertise this place. I did not learn one single thing the entire time I was here and let it be known that I am now graduating to be a medical professional so I was not the problem. Be careful if using MYCAA to pay for classes, regardless of whether or not you submit on your end on time. If the school doesn't submit it on time on their end (as in my case) you'll receive a dozen and a half reminders that tuition is due (the school doesn't handle MYCAA and the funds get sent to the student to then pass on to the school and if it's not paid by "x" date at "x" time classes are dropped. Had I of known this, I would have applied for schooling elsewhere. Waste of time. Not everyone wants or needs to use FAFSA………Courtney Myszewski

The instructors in HVAC-R are knowledgeable and relatable, however I am disappointed that there are no night classes the second year making it difficult for those who have other responsibilities to work full time and go to school. Also I feel the curriculum schedule makes it to where you teach yourself and the instructors go over what you read instead of the regular cover it in class then do homework. I feel this may be a way to make it more difficult and have more intelligent technicians but not allowing everyone the opportunity to learn.Matthew Edwards

I currently am a part of the student body here at ACC, in the HVACR program. I’ve had nothing but excellent experiences here, and all of my teachers, advisors, and administrators have been very helpful. The VA Coordinator, Ms. Morton has done an outstanding job keeping me in the loop when it comes to my VA benefits. Overall a very Veteran Friendly School, and a great place for learning and growing. This college is great. I have most of friends here and it’s a very intellectual environment. I am currently attending in the new facility that they have built on the far side of the campus and everything is astonishing. Out of the 4 community colleges I have taken courses at, ABTech has been the worst by far. I have had the worst experience with advising/registration trying to get scheduled for the classes I want. Everyone I speak to just turns me in circles and no one seems to understand what to do in order to help me go where I need to go. They only give you 48 hours once classes start to switch them around if need be, but you need an advisor to approve before you can register for anything different, but you can’t get in to meet with an advisor till days after the deadline. I feel so defeated. I worked so hard to get the courage to return to school, just to not be able to take any courses this semester. Wasting my time and my financial aide. The staff here are for the most part very friendly and easy to be around. The administration however, is terribly unorganized. It's not uncommon to get information from their website or info center, but be told the complete opposite by a faculty member or chair person. I was following a recommended schedule for the program I'm in, when it was changed completely without any notice. Half the classes I was told to take this Fall are no longer offered, and it will now take me twice as long to complete my program. Long story short- don't attend AB tech if you're pursuing a degree or diploma. I'd only recommend this place to continuing education students.Andy Albert

LOVE this school! I am graduating this May from the Radiography program and will graduate next May with an AS in Biochemistry. AB Tech has made the process smooth and efficient for me, just as I worked hard to make sure I turned everything needed for processing my information early to them to ensure success. The teachers are fantastic and truly care about their students. I am so grateful for the writing, math and science study labs as well because the staff there gave me the extra help I needed whenever a concept was tough. Lovely campus, with almost 9000 acres! Huge trees and grand lawns frame Gothic architecture which themselves house state-of-the-art labs and lecture halls. Duke's research grants are famous for being generous, even for undergraduate students. Keep in mind, though, that the admissions rate is very very low, so you probably won't get in.Ameya Majmudar

We recently brought our 14 year old dog in when he suddenly and unexpectedly started experiencing difficulty getting up or down without pain, and even walking. Our local vet took x-rays and determined it was arthritis-related, however the pain meds they prescribed didn't help. He got worse over the course of the weekend, and by Monday we were desperate for someone to just tell us what was going on and how to help him. We brought him there expecting to bring him home the next day with a diagnosis, but unfortunately that isn't what happened. Instead the doctors there ran tests and found that he had prostate cancer, which had most likely spread into his spine. There was nothing more we could do. I appreciate that they found an answer, and that they were honest about what they felt the best course of action was. We made the decision to let him go at their facility versus trying to bring him home and hurting him, and we can't appreciate the doctor who walked us through it enough. She was very empathetic and didn't make us feel rushed. While things didn't end the way we'd hoped, we now know where to go when a pet faces medical issues that aren't easily diagnosed at home.K J

Big Thank you for Dr SIERRAH TRAVIS and her Team ! We bring in Thursday September 8 , 2022 our 15 months old Rottweiler with a Bad lungs infection ! After almost 5 weeks fighting with all kinds of antibiotics and no good results we decided to bring it here , Friday September 9 we take Diesel home with Blastomycosis fungal diagnostic ! Our local Veterinary give us a totally wrong diagnosis!!! We give Diesel all those 5 weeks antibiotics that they may kill his immune system, I asked our local Veterinary clinics for this test after doing my own research online about the symptoms my dog has and they refuse to have it done ! Now I feel very down that I didn’t bring Diesel here earlier , me and my family we pray that our Diesel he’s going to make it from this nasty fungal ! I'm very satisfied with my visit to Virginia Tech's hospital of veterinarian medicine. I took my 2 year old Siberian Husky in for idiopathic epilepsy. The hospital still had covid limitations in place, so we stayed in the car and the doctors called us while in the parking lot. It in no way negatively effected my visit. The neurology staff were very calm, collected and friendly over the phone. They asked us a multitude of questions to better understand James condition. They took their time reviewing his medical records and seizure log to appropriately come up with a new treatment plan. I'm thankful for the care my dog received, and I'm glad they took his condition seriously.Bethany Castle

So here's my Wake Tech story. I secured financial aid and then enrolled into Wake Tech as a full-time student. And then the financial aide office attempted to cut my much-needed aid twice, the first time on the Friday before my classes were to begin and then the second time was the following Monday via email when I was literally 4/5 the way through the commute from Fayetteville to Raleigh to attend my first day of classes, causing me to turn around and head back home. And another thing: maybe it's just me — perhaps I missed something?–however it seems that Wake Tech expects new students to simply show up and know what to do? Nothing's explained, nearly none of the stuff that I needed to know to get started was covered during the online orientation that new students are required to complete nor were we given any booklet or the like to explain how stuff works . But let's rewind a bit. After securing financial aid, enrolling and completing online orientation….I remained clueless. So thereafter I spent about a week commuting back and forth between Fayetteville and South campus in an effort to complete registration and get everything else taken care of. I did so under the assumption that I'd get stuff figured out if only I'd drive up there and speak to Wake Tech face to face–but not so . During this process I asked advisors and other staff a variety of questions only to be told conflicting info and advice thereby increasing my confusion. And then I went to the bookstore where I learned that some of the books that I needed were out of stock and that notebooks cost $8. So I left without my books. I did however attempt to attend classes first day of semester, as mentioned above, but then received that email from the financial aid office– had that not happened I would have went to school and maybe things would have turned out differently. I did receive another email from someone else at Wake Tech telling me that the email from financial aid threatening to reduce my aid the 2nd time was a mistake and that I'm covered…but unfortunately I've already missed a week of school so I guess I'm out. Very depressing as Wake Tech is the closest college offering a full curriculum on substance abuse/addiction counseling and that's what I want to do. But, it is what it is .Frank A

You remember when the pandemic started, and everyone had to start learning how to use computers? Now imagine, a bunch of teachers, creating online courses from scratch with no help. ITS A DISASTER. Its like NO ONE set a criteria for how the classes should follow a general structure, so that students aren't spending the first 2 weeks of every new class trying to figure out what is what. Its like no one showed them, "this is the gold standard"… this is what a well put together black board class looks like. The online courses are archaic. (Dr. Frear, I complained about some things and I am sorry. After seeing what else is our there( summer 2022), HOLY MOLY. Your blackboard set up is the least confusing and was by far, the best thing I have seen yet) Instructors use blackboard, not as a classroom but as a file folder system. Instead of using the platform, they made it so that every thing is word documents and or files you have to download when they could have just simply used the actual platform. I should only be downloading PowerPoint slides, worksheets, homework, etc. Not opening a document to read something you could have made a video and "instructed" us or copy and pasted to the platform. Does anyone know the definition of a syllabus there? It should be all encompassing. I shouldn't have to read 5 documents to figure out how I will be graded, what I will be graded on, the rules, the expectations, which books I need to buy. If the department has a syllabus, I'm pretty sure you are supposed to take that document and incorporate it into your own, at the very least create an addendum/appendix. My Grades should clearly have due dates, weighted totals, and all of the grade-able items at the start of the class. There should be no, imagining what my grade is at any given moment.Buttercups

I’ve spent 29 years teaching at Wake Tech and have taken a number of classes here too. I know what it’s like at Wake and I am telling the unvarnished truth about it. I’m retiring soon so it’s not about getting a promotion! Generally speaking the facilities, faculty and quality of education are really very good – in addition the price is still reasonable. Don’t be conned by private educational facilities that promise you a “great job” after graduation and then put you in a low end, minimum wage job where you can’t even afford to pay off your pricey school loans (this happened to a friend of mine). Go to WT and get a better education for a fraction of the cost – you will leave with real skills and THAT’S how you get a job – with knowledge. Plus Wake has a solid reputation with employers. Yes, there are aspects of the school that are unfortunate – I hear complaints from my students, and there are a number of policies that drive the faculty crazy too – much of it is due to the typical bureaucracy that seems inevitable with very large institutions. Is it really better elsewhere? Maybe. Maybe not. Nonetheless, if you go with the sincere desire and motivation to learn, and you treat your teachers and fellow students with respect – you will be supported by all and do well. The ILC really is a remarkable facility and is intended to help struggling students succeed. When it comes to the financial aid office I hear the best approach is to fill out ALL the paperwork that is required COMPLETELY and ON TIME. Follow instructions, that should go a long way to making the process easier.Marlys de Alba

So our 4 month old English bulldog was in for a serious heart condition and upon referral to NC State from out local vet office we began trips and treatment with NC state ER for his heart valve restriction. They quickly realized how serious the condition his heart was in and informed us that the only chance at life for him was heart surgery. They set a date for surgery over a month out 3 days before his scheduled surgery his abdomen was so swollen from fluid in his stomach and lungs that they had us bring him in early to drain the fluid so he could breathe and have a chance to make it to the surgery date. He did make it to surgery and we meet several times with discussions about the surgery and his chances with and without the surgery. The surgery initially was successful and they requested him to return for a follow up and changed his medications due to his heart conditioning worsening. Tonight his abdomen is severely swollen even with the change in his prescriptions and we have called multiple times and when speaking to the receptionists at NC State (who act like you are a burden for asking them to answer the phone and treat you like a 3rd rate citizen and talked down to my wife trying to get her off the phone) they informed us they would not see him or provide any assistance for him at this time. This after spending over $8,000 this week alone with NC State. The cardiology department has been great with they care and attention, however the ER DEPARTMENT on the other hand if I could give them minus 5 stars for this review I would. I will be seeking legal recourse for their lack of care and compassion after they received their $$ they could not seem to care less if our beloved puppy lived or dies. This is absolutely ridiculous and insulting. When it comes to life or death you don’t turn the other way and say oh well. You need to try to triage and make an attempt in an emergency situation when you are a medical professional. I would love someone from bc state to contact me in regards to this situation.ben hoggard

Once your pet actually receives care, it is very good. Actually getting someone to help you is another story. Our dog needed spinal surgery and was losing use of his back legs. They sent him home from the ER multiple times before finally listening to our pleading to do something to help him. They finally relented and performed the surgery and he has made a full recovery (5 stars for that). However, the customer service was terrible. The "doctors" talk down to you and make you feel like you are bothering them by asking questions about your pet's condition, billing screwed up our invoice multiple times, and people answering the phones seemed annoyed to try to help you. If your pet is in their care, don't even bother trying to call for an update on their condition. You will get a generic response and be told you can't speak with anyone that is actually helping with your pet.JJ

First off we had been trying to get our lab seen for over a month for an eye injury but was told it wasn't urgent. When we arrived the lady at the front desk was very unwelcoming as if she cared less we were there. Once seen by Dr. Smith ( only know her name because of the prescription as she never introduced herself) she was more concerned with us wearing a mask than us being able to understand what she was saying but she did manage to let us know that due to the extensive time of inflammation in the eye my lab would be permanently blind like it was our fault, then tried to cover her tracks by saying we don't know if sooner treatment would have changed the outcome. On a side note the student Abby Cox was awesome and showed so much care, concern and interest. Too bad the Dr. made it such a bad experience I am already not looking forward to the follow up in 2 months.Derek Spencer

There are five veterinary practices and one 24 hour emergency veterinary hospital within six minutes of home. But I regularly drive 40-50 minutes one way to see Dr. Thames. That should say everything. But you probably want to know more about why I do that. We’ve all been to clinics where no one knows our names or the names of our pets. Those places sometimes focus more on the bottom line and about selling you on services you don’t need or want. I have even been to clinics where I was being told one of my dogs was due for a dental cleaning (he wasn’t) almost before I was inside the door. This is different. The focus is on health and well-being, not on the bottom line, all while being respectful of MY bottom line. I have never once been pushed or sold on a service I did not want or need. I always get follow-up phone calls after every appointment asking how things are going (and sometimes after hours, on weekends, and even holidays). But more importantly, I trust Dr. Thames. Anyone who knows me well knows that I am very skeptical of everything and won’t really trust anyone. So this trust is certainly earned. When I lost my first dog two years ago, it was the hardest decision I have ever made and one that still sometimes haunts me. But I had to do it for my little guy because his well-being was more important than my sadness. Dr. Thames was great to me and I think instrumental in helping me to feel at that time that it was a good thing. He and the staff made my final goodbye easier to shoulder. And when I tell others about that specific experience, they say things like “my vet doesn’t do that” or just “that is so good of him.” Losing my second dog was very unexpected. But Dr. Thames worked me into his schedule at the end of the day and, though he claims otherwise, he inconvenienced his personal schedule for us. Just like I know to trust him when he says something isn’t right, I think he trusts me when I say I need to get worked in. I thought recently I was going to lose the last of my little guys, so you know who I called. Dr Thames wasn’t there, but I trust him and his judgement so I knew the doctors he selected for the practice would be just as good. And they were great to us. And I still have my little guy to keep me company. So that means we will still be making the long car ride whenever we need to check in for something. You stick with something that works. And when the day comes when I am alone and ultimately decide I need a new furry companion, we will make that same drive just to see Dr Thames and the crew. It’s no small feat for me to say I trust my precious cargo to this practice, our doctor, and our doctor’s judgment. And that’s one reason why I have recommended the practice to so many people, even as recently as this morning.Matt Oliver

The staff at complete pet care are negligent at best and possibly abusive. I have left Nandor with them for boarding on 2 occasions for a total of 10 nights, and he has returned home with an injury on BOTH occasions. The first time we went I noticed an injury as soon as we brought him home and immediately contacted the vets office. We were told that this injury was never even noticed while he was there despite the fact that he was supposed to be groomed while there as well. The owner did apologize for his staff's negligence so we decided to give them another chance. We picked him up for the second time yesterday and I was told he had an injury, pictured here on his back upper thigh area, only as they brought him out to me. They told me that it had been looked over by a vet while he was there, but they never called me to tell me about it during his stay. The worst part is I CALLED THEM to EXPLICITLY ASK HOW MY PUPPY WAS DOING 2 DAYS BEFORE PICK UP AND THESE PEOPLE DID NOT TELL ME ABOUT THE INJURY. THEY LITERALLY LIED TO ME ABOUT THE STATUS OF MY PET'S HEALTH AND WELLBEING. it is abundantly clear to me that pets are not receiving adequate care and supervision from these people. Please do not trust them with a member of your family unless you are okay with your pet coming home hurt.Robin

I love the vets and the techs there and the way they treat our dogs, but WOW is it expensive. And more to the point, they're not very transparent about how much things are going to cost until it's too late, so I would highly recommend asking ahead of time. For example, my dogs got their yearly shots a couple of weeks ago (expensive because it goes with a full vet exam, but ok) and there was one shot that they needed to come back in couple of weeks to get a booster for. So I booked that appointment and brought my dogs in for it this morning. I was told once I was in the back room that the vet would be in for the examination soon. I told the tech that I was only there for booster shots and that they don't need another exam since they just got one a couple of weeks ago. They told me at that point that it was mandatory to get another exam in order to get the booster, so I went with it. And so it ended up being over $200 for a booster shot for 2 dogs. Let me start off by saying, this is the very best vet practice I have ever come across. And if you’re researching this practice like I did, believe the reviews! I called very hastily after being referred by our primary vet at 2pm and was happily surprised to not only get an answer but was put on the phone with Dr. Hoover. We were in a somewhat emergent situation where surgery was better off sooner rather than later. He explained what he saw and agreed to get her in the next day. From the moment I met with him my fear and stress was reduced almost immediately. His approach was warm and thorough. His understanding of the stress my family and I were under and the love of our pup was clear. The communication throughout my girl’s surgery was again, amazing! I never felt as though I was left waiting in the unknown. The follow up call I received today was of the same caliber that I received at my pups surgery. Stellar. The communication, patience in answering all my questions by both the staff and Dr. Hoover and knowledge of all at this practice is a 20 out of 10! I can’t begin to thank the staff at this practice enough for their care and compassion for my sweet girl. Dr. Hoover is simply the vet every pet lover/owner is looking for. Dr. Hoover has a knowledgeable, caring team here. Yes, the care is on the pricier side, but he will not push unnecessary treatments. How do I know? My cat Wizard has been losing weight steadily for the past 3 years. I took him to Dr. Hoover because I thought dental disease was Wizard's problem. He didn't push a dental cleaning because he thinks something else is wrong with him. Dr. Hoover absolutely had the option to push a treatment for his benefit, but he didn't. I'll start by saying that this is the best animal hospital in Raleigh. It's definitely the best I've ever been to. I only recently started taking my 16-year old cat to them, as she was struggling with a supposed ear infection that was not seeming to heal with medication I received from other vet hospitals. Dr. Marlon did the most thorough exam on her and found issues I would have never guessed were going on with her! He is very thorough in explaining what is wrong and gives many suggestions of ways you can help in the aid of healing around the home. With x-rays, we found that she had an unknown mass in her abdomen and with everything considered, we decided to humanely put her to sleep. While we did not do this at this facility, Dr. Marlon and staff make you feel very comfortable and give you time and space to discuss decisions. They offer many services such as cremation and paw prints as well. The prices are very affordable and I never felt like I overpaid for the services I received. Dr. Marlon is very honest and tries to keep things realistic with you as far as what he recommends and what treatments would be best. My only complaint is that I wish I had known about them sooner. Outstanding Service. This review is based on initial new patient visit of two senior dogs, both with a variety of issues, to Vet Care Anywhere Animal Hospital. I wanted to transfer from another animal hospital, where I was being "up-serviced and up-charged" at every opportunity. Dr. Marlon is a sole practitioner, assisted by a number of vet interns, whom he is mentoring. His office isn't in the "high rent district", nor is it fancy on the inside, but he has up-to-date, on-site lab equipment, which shows me that he knows where to properly put his investment. He is a fantastic Vet., intelligent, dedicated, compassionate and practical. I could tell that Dr. Marlon absolutely loves his work by how he addressed all my numerous concerns in detail with both dogs, answered all my questions, identified priorities in treatments. I wasn't charged astronomically although Dr Marlon spent a good deal of time with both dogs and performed several on-site treatments. I feel Dr Marlon is trust-worthy, and he is now my primary veterinary doctor. My only quibble is that it is very noisy at this veterinary practice due to the constant barking next door at the dog-daycare facility.Bonnie Latham

I spent weeks researching veterinarians when I moved to Raleigh before I decided on Dr. Marlon. I’m very happy with the care my Delilah receives at Veterinary Care Anywhere! I recently had to bring Delilah in for what I suspected was a UTI, and Dr. Marlon made sure to call me before he did any tests. He explained everything to me thoroughly, and when a staff member brought Delilah back out, she went over everything again. I used to work in a vet’s office and Delilah had 2 other vets before we moved to Raleigh – Dr. Marlon and his staff are by far the most professional and friendly. I don’t think they’re any more expensive than any other vet out there – vet care is just expensive sometimes. I really appreciate that prices are available on the website. I called this morning to see if I could pick up medicine for my cat. She’s been to this office twice for the same problem. They told me no and she would have to be seen by a provider to get any medication. I said okay, I understand but I was going to hold off on an appointment because I can’t afford that right now. They said that since she’s been there before it would be a revisit and it and it would be 30 to 40 dollars so I agreed to bring her in. Then when I went to check her out they charged me more than double that and said it was a full office visit because her last appointment was more than 2 months ago. I told them no one asked me on the phone how long ago her last appointment was they just said it was a revisit and I specifically said I can’t afford a full exam/office visit right now. I don’t have a problem with the policy but I have a problem with that I was charged for what I specifically said I don’t want when I made the appointment because I can’t afford it. I just wouldn’t have made the appointment. So I’ll be paying my rent late this month just to take my cat to an appointment she didn’t need and they said she looked fine.allison baker

So disappointed in AMC. You should be ashamed. I have taken previous cat to you guys previously and you handled that wonderfully. So we decided to start using this vet for other animals. Had to put down my dog and that was handled with the utmost care and respect towards me and my family and the pet. I have an 19 years old cat that took the turn for the worse Friday afternoon. She’s still not eating or drinking. Based on my previous experience I called AMC first thing this morning to arrange to have her put to sleep so she would not continue to suffer. I was told that now they need to do an exam etc Ans they no longer respect the owners rights to put a pet down. Seriously. So I said you can clearly see without a doubt and mind you she’s 19 years old. She hasn’t eaten for three days and is getting sick. Not only that she said it would be the next day before they would do the appointment. They are no longer about your pet. When things are real bad And you truly need a vet. Dr. Moore did all that could be reasonably done for our cat Meyawni when she had a tumor/mass on her neck. She was a 17 year old rescue, we had her for ten years. When it became apparent that the tumor was growing and we feared it would eventually intrude into her airway we had to make a decision. With Dr. Moore's advice, we decided that at her age and condition and to save her from possible pain and distress, it would be best to put her to sleep. Her and her staff were kind, considerate and understanding during the entire process. Our hearts were breaking as our pet lay between my wife and I and quietly left this world. It was very dignified and comforting. We had her cremated and the ashes returned to us as well as her paw prints. I just adopted little 8-wek-old Grayson. On his first wellness visit, Dr. Amy Lehman sat on the floor with him and played with him as she explained, in detail, the care I needed to provide for this 4-pound fluff-ball. She explained to expose him to many experiences during certain time periods to avoid phobias, how to protect him from viruses and bacteria, the pros and cons of some vaccines, and how my homemade diet plan (baked chicken, sweet potato, carrot bits, peas, and green beans) was good, but lacked organ meat (which I don't want to home cook… ick), so gave me an easy alternative diet plan (good dry food with sprinkles of the food I mentioned) (dog eats like a king). Armadale will take care of my dog Grayson for the next decade and a half. We feel we're in good hands. UPDATE: Grayson is now almost 3 years old, and I've still been happy with Armadale Animal Hospital. They send postcards in the mail and email reminders of upcoming care that's needed, and the reception staff is always pleasant. Grayson is a healthy little boy with no issues. The only "issue" was that he had a baby tooth what was stuck on his adult tooth, so he needed minor day surgery. They performed that well. They said he'd be groggy the rest of the day, but Grayson returned back to his crazy self within hours after the surgery, running around the house like a nut (with a ball in his mouth). He's a happy and healthy little beast, and I feel that Armadale will help him stay that way.Amy

We have taken our small animals (mostly cats) to Armadale Animal Hospital for several years, after a few less than ideal experiences with other small animal practices. We are so grateful to have found them. This team is by far the best small animal practice we have used, and we travel almost an hour each way so our animals can get the best care here. They are an incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate team, provide excellent care and keep you informed throughout every aspect of care. Dr. Walker, the lead veterinarian, is fabulous, and we also worked recently with Dr. McConnell, a fairly new vet to this hospital, who is wonderful and excellent. Aside from their doctors, another aspect that sets Armadale apart is its fantastic staff of veterinary technicians who handle so many of the critical aspects of care. We recently lost our beloved cat, Nacho, to an untreatable illness and everyone involved with his care at Armadale was nothing but wonderful, even through the worst moments. We are so fortunate to have this team relatively local to us for all small animal needs. There isn't a better place around.Rachel Smith

Dr. Lehman is the most caring vet I have ever come across. I've been through it with vets and Dr. Lehman not only cares about my animals' health but has a vested interest in making sure *I* understand their health. She is always calm and down to explain and answer questions. She's willing to help when you need it. One time one of my cats had a fever of unexplained origin and she gave me a bag of saline and helped show me how to give him fluids to keep him hydrated at home so he didn't have to stay overnight. Everyone at Armadale has been super accomodating and kind to me and honestly, as long as I live in Raleigh, this is my vet. They're pricier than other vets but you get what you pay for here. We put our golden down this week. We drove 3.5hrs one way to do it at the vet she loved before we moved. The second we got there she was whining with excitement & wanted to go in the back where she knows her friends were. I had forgotten her tennis ball and the kindest, sweetest young lady named Natalie ran around and found one!! Dr Hunter had previously done surgery on our girl and he was there step by step. As we left the room my husband looked back and told me that he saw Dr Hunter petting her. It says alot about him to be so kind when he thought we had gone. As horrible of an experience as it is to put your dog down, this was a kind and loving one. We later received flowers and a wonderful handwritten card from all those who had taken care of our KayGee through the years. This clinic isn't very close to us (almost an hour depending on traffic) so we are using Dr. Conley as a secondary resource for more extensive issues with our dog. Im not knocking our "regular" vet but Dr Conley explains things in a much better way than any of our previous vets. I am one of those that needs to be told things two or three times and likes to ask a lot of questions, he is great about that. He is also offering a different option or two than we've been given. Although they may be long shots, at least we are given the options. I wish we were a bit closer and despite the long drive if we choose to have more dogs down the road (many factors) I will definitely consider just making him our primary and just deal with he drive! I've had such an amazing experience with this Complete Pet Care regarding getting all the required health certificates for international travels for my Fluffy 🐾. Our dog had been going to Brentwood since she was 6 weeks old. Since August of 2021 she had been very sick, test after test, bloodwork, fluids weekly and the list goes on. They threw meds at her on top of meds. At one point she was probably on 10 different meds, we were constantly told she had GI issues. At 8 years old she had never been sick in her life! Not once before August, she went to her yearly appointments was on monthly heartworm meds, the whole 9 yards. From August until February we just did what the vet said and gave her medicine and changed her food. I’m February she became very very sick, she wouldn’t eat or drink for an entire week, that one week we went to the vet 3 times, they then again blamed it on her GI Issues. I in my heart knew something wasn’t right so we were referred to a specialist at an emergency vet wake emergency vet for a biopsy and endoscopy of her GI trac. She stayed overnight in February to have these test done, they came back as “normal” which didn’t make any sense with how sick she was. From February until April she was still very sick but I was managing it until we could get a visit in with a new vet because I wanted a different set of eyes other than her being given a new medicine and just being told it was GI issues. At the end of April I noticed her breathing was off which really concerned me because I was with her all day each day, I work from home. I called Brentwood that Saturday morning and asked if we could bring her in because it was an emergency and and something was not right. They didn’t seem to care, the front desk person said “I would just take her to the emergency vet” I hung up on her because after 8 years of being with them they could have cared less about her. We proceeded to go to the emergency vet in Wilson points east. Points east was a blessing, they took her back immediately, I had a copy of her documents from Brentwood from previously so I shared that with them and gave them the history of the previous 6 ish months, we found out that she had fluid around her lungs and heart and he advised that she had cancer after running blood test and other test. Our baby girl passed away that day, BRENTWOOD has changed so much and I would not advise to take your pet family members there. They only care about money now and that is not what they should be doing. I could name the vet that she saw at Brentwood and go on and on about how she should lose her license along with the rest of the place but that won’t bring my baby back. The only thing I can do is educate others for her and advise NOT to take your pet there. I know this is long winded but it’s worth the description because the mistakes made and just throwing medicine at her cost her, her life and I’ll never get it her back.Amanda Andras

Although yesterdays visit was not what I expected, I don’t believe I should leave a bad review because of the one bad experience. Oakley and I have been coming here for a little while now over the last 2 years. We’ve always had a great experience. However, yesterday we showed up 10 minutes early for his appointment and we waited for in the lobby 30 minutes past his appointment time. Wasn’t too concerned with that but have noticed the other negative reviews in here were due to time. So just a note there. Also, it seems that EVERY single time I’m in there every few months it’s new faces. Receptionist, vet techs, and even the vets I didn’t recognize from our visit in June. As someone who runs a successful business, this speaks volumes on work culture and is concerning with high turn over. The reason that comment is important to me is because I want familiar faces who I know and am comfortable with while treating my dog. My dog is my child and I don’t want to keep building new relationships and learning skill sets of others.Justin Griffin

We love Brentwood! The staff is always wonderful. They are all kind and gentle with our pets, and they are always really good about letting me know how much services will cost beforehand so I can be prepared and not blind sided at check out. We also love their two resident kitties and the staff was not bothered when our new puppy decided she didn’t like cats and wanted to bark at one of them relentlessly. We have been taking my 6 year old Pharaoh Hound dog to Trinity for 2 years now and have had an amazing experience with both Dr. Richardson and Dr. Arroyo. They were/are both so kind and compassionate and provided us with great customer service. All of a sudden we got switched to Dr. Vasquez at the beginning of the year and everything has gone downhill. She makes us feel like we aren't important and doesn't prioritize us as customers. My dog just went through her 2nd TPLO (ACL) surgery last month and it has been a nightmare working with Dr. Vasquez. Scheduling the surgery took over 2 weeks and I had to call Trinity 6 times within 3 days just to get in contact with Vasquez. After surgery and it came time to pick our dog up, she wasn't even present during that appointment to talk to us. We were stuck with a vet tech who couldn't answer our questions (which is understandable) but never reached back out that evening once we got home… I had to call back myself to try to talk to her. We are now 3 weeks post surgery, and I have more follow up questions. Its been over 36 hours since my original call and still no answer. This is unacceptable and we never have received this treatment from the other vets. We have spent over $5k for this surgery and have received terrible follow up care from Vasquez. This review hurts to post, but want to warn others to stay away from her as a vet. It shouldn't take multiple days and phone calls by me to hear back. We desperately want to switch back to Arroyo but was told we can't since Vasquez did this surgery. If this can't be done then unfortunately we will need to switch vets.Kathryn Sawyer

Trinity Animal Hospital's unique triad approach of hospital + pet + pet owner should be set as the gold standard for veterinary medicine. Dr. Richardson guided me through the very emotional, difficult decision to euthanize our precious 6 year old kitty, Hiccup. The diagnosis came suddenly and very unexpectedly. I was overwhelmed with the decision placed before me. Dr. Richardson and his staff took a great deal of time with me to discuss options. We talked about what was best for Hiccup and what was best for our family. Unfortunately, I've lost many dear pets over the years but I have never experienced the compassion, care, and absolute love offered by Trinity. I was never rushed to make a decision. I was never discouraged from my endless questions. I was allowed time alone to think about my options, call family members, and wrap my head around the unexpected diagnosis. I have been to many vets over the years and by far Dr. K is the best vet I have ever seen. She was absolutely amazing and provided my dog with the best care possible, she went above and beyond. She was compassionate, friendly, took time to explain everything she was doing and made sure both my dog and I were comfortable every step of the way. She was not in a hurry she took the time to ensure that my dog got the exceptional care she deserved. I cannot sing her praises enough, her natural caring nature truly touched me. The staff was friendly and professional, their check-in and check-out process is easy and quick. The office was perfectly clean, I have nothing but excellent things to say about Trinity. Dr. K even called me a couple of days later to follow up to see how we were because we had to make a very difficult decision. I had to take my cat in this afternoon very unexpectedly for emergency services. Gina at the front desk was very honest with me about wait times, and I decided to head over anyways. I was pleasantly surprised to see my cat immediately whisked away for an initial exam as I checked in. Dr. Stone and the team were honest and upfront with each step of treatment, very upfront about pricing, and were attentive to my many questions. The staff was so friendly to me and reassuring to my obvious stress — I really appreciated that. I enjoyed having hot chocolate from the drink machine to relax while I waited for my pet to be treated, the staff told me I could sit in the exam room or the lobby and get drinks as needed. They told me to quote, "make myself at home" and let them know if I needed anything. I was very touched. Today my cat was very spicy (he doesn't like bloodwork) and yet the team were very patient with him. I appreciated when the team would give me periodic updates, even going so far as if to check if he was awake from a procedure or not. Thankfully all went better than expected, and within 3 hours of me noticing my pet was looking sick, we were back home with medicine and my cat was back to normal! Me and my whole family are relieved, and thankful for the excellent care my cat received! The next time I am or someone I know is experiencing a pet emergency, I will be recommending this location for sure. Thank you so much for helping me and my fur baby in our small crisis today. Really wanted to thank the staff on the emergency side today. It was one of those days every pet owner doesn't look forward to but the staff was incredibly friendly and supportive and that helped a lot. And not that it should really matter when it comes to your pets health, but emergency fees included their pricing is very reasonable, so that at least takes a bit of the hurt out. Location is fairly convenient especially for those of us south of Raleigh, and their building was super clean and nice. Had to switch our vet since we moved south of downtown and our previous clinic was too far away – I was very sad to leave our old place, but I am so grateful to have found Oak Heart! I have been to this location three times, once with foster puppies and twice with my own dog and it has been such a pleasant experience every time. I have been taking Gabby and Major to Coats Vet since they were 6 weeks old. I’ve always been pleased with the service. All the Doctors and Techs take the time out to explain everything, no matter if it is a routine exam or a medical emergency. Major had surgery on both knees and they were the best! They were compassionate and very detailed about everything that was going on. He is now better than ever! I have never, ever had a bad experience at Coats Vet the last 6 years my fur babies have been going there. They visit at least 10-12 times a year for nail trims, routine exams and those dreaded medical emergencies. Gabby has had two medical emergencies involving her digestive tract and Major had a severe allergic reaction to something. Each time they were attentive and sympathetic. The cost was reasonable considering all the bloodwork and other procedures done. They got Gabby straight with some prescription dog food that has stopped her digestive issues. I have been going to coats vet since Dr. Coates worked at Riverside, Close to 25 years ago. I loved Dr. Coates is manner is way of handling the dogs and cats and his philosophy. So when he returned to Rocky Mount I was thrilled as I’m sure many people were to have him back and practicing here. Will you became friends over the years as we both had cancer at the same time and we were talking about it. When we lost him I was deeply saddened. But I became familiar with Dr walker at that point and now she is my vet to go to. She has taken care of all my babies with such love and commitment and determination to help them. If she doesn’t know the cure she will research it until she finds one. Recently she helped me with my baby when I was hospitalized and I knew my little one was getting the best care. My review is regarding the wonderful care my dog Sofia received from Dr. Rochte in 2019. My dog Sofia had been experiencing low urine specific gravity, increased thirst, and increased urination since the beginning of 2018. From 2018-2019 I worked at three different animal hospitals and she was seen by the veterinarians I worked with. Her symptoms are associated with a variety of diseases and we did diagnostic testing for the more common disorders. From kidney disorders (kidney failure and kidney infection) to hormone disorders (Cushing's, Addison's, hyperthyroidism, and sugar diabetes). All diagnostics came back clear and I was told it was probably behavioral. I ended up getting hired at Oak Heart as a veterinary receptionist and working alongside Dr. Rochte. He was the first Doctor in awhile that genuinely seemed to care about my dog's quality of life and symptom relief. I mentioned to him that I was interested in doing testing for diabetes insipidus but had been shot down by previous DVMs due to the rarity of the condition. At this point Sofia was well into her senior years and he wasn't comfortable doing a water deprivation test. Instead he wanted to do a trial of Desmopressin and to monitor her USG. Within weeks we saw an increase in the concentration of her urine and a reduction in her PU/PD. We finally had our diagnosis and treatment plan. She continued to get better and no longer struggled with her prior symptoms. She regained access to a lot things she lost while we sought a diagnosis. No more crates or playpens, hello couch! Her swimming pool even came out of hiding! Sofia ended up passing away in September of 2020. Yet I am writing a review two years later because I'm genuinely thankful for Dr. Rochte. I no longer work at Oak Heart, nor do I live in NC anymore. I have no reason to lie about my experience. If you're currently looking for a phenomenal DVM in the RDU area I 10/10 recommend Dr. Rochte.Chan Terrell

This week was tough, my experience with the individuals was a blurr as i cant remember names or faces but for such a terrible event these people were so loving and kind. This week our pet bunny got sick randomly, after around 30 phone calls we finally found this place. Unfortunately I lived alittle over an hour away. I got in the car and came straight there Unfortunately our sweet bun started having seizures about 15 minutes away and passed away just a few minutes prior they took her right away as she was still warm to try and revive her but couldn't. The Vet was so sweet, he asked to do an xray free of charge bc he said her stomach was hard. Not only did they get us in, they tried to revive her and they did an xray, even sent her home in a special bag and didnt charge us a dime. Unfortunately we lost our hop hop, but I couldn't thank this place enough. Thank you all for your kindness, your love and your heart. For a sad outcome the individuals brought light to such a bitter situation.Samantha Kegley

I wasnt aware that my dog would need quarantined/isolated upon his arrival, due to his cold. (Makes sense, i just didnt know) The confusing arrival made understood (while in a less than orthodox way, very clearly) and we moved forward. The Vet takes care of our rabbit too, and was in looking sincerely, and had me out quickly and with exceptional information. The latter being the standard efficiency, concern, and consideration, we have come to know of the business and will return accordingly!James Daniels
