Solid school. Easy(ish) to navigate. Some of the buildings are far apart and depending on your classes you might have only 10 minutes to go all the way across campus. The staff is friendly and try to help anyone navigate the school, so don't worry! Each building is clearly labeled and maps are everywhere so it's hard to get lost. There's tons of socializing areas and seating for different gatherings. Some of the popular places would be the courtyard with the fountains or the large hill in the center of campus. The campus also has a variety of food options, so whether you want smoothies, coffee, pizza, pastries or a salad there are options all around!Zena Krimzon

They have no idea how to teach what you will need in the state of Kansas. They will use other professors lectures and do not want to answer questions or teach you. So yeah if you want to teach yourself from a book and have a bunch of assignments due constantly this is the place for you. You will find yourself googling topics and watching YouTube videos to learn it. Multiple (at least 3 that I know of) people in my class complained to the chair.C

I am taking a welding certificate so I can work in the welding workforce. I want to work for the olathe railroad welding force after college. Then maybe do some underwater welding I have not quite decided. If I do I have to take a scubadiving class to get certified in that. After that I have to take a underwater course to get certified to do underwater welding but it will take me a while to doKelle Boehmer

It's hit or miss with the staff. I'm transferring about 60 credits in from elsewhere and just needed residential credits to graduate. I've been trying to get a degree audit since I started in March. I took 6 credits in the spring, am taking 3 now and 6 more in the fall. I can't get an answer as to whether I'm in need of any credits in any areas to graduate. I never had this problem at any school. When I asked for an audit, they told me, "You just completed your first semester with us. Transfer credits are posted after the students complete a semester with us. Look for those to show this Summer or next Fall." I already completed a semester. I'm on my last 2 classes. This should've been done by now. This is how people waste thousands of dollars on classes they don't need while still coming up short for their program. It's a bad policy, and they shouldn't do that. Update: I'm about 3 weeks from graduating. Taking classes on campus rather than online makes a huge difference in satisfaction levels. I'm changing my star rating because the teachers are pretty good. I'm still a little annoyed with how unresponsive the staff was while trying to get info together for my last semester of college, but it worked out. Three more weeks of class, and I'm blowing this popsicle stand. The school is what you pay for. Some things could definitely use some improvement. I had to pull out of my fifth class, which I didn't sign up for, 2 days too late to get a refund. I wasn't even aware that I was in it till I saw an email about late assignments. I paid the amount they requested after they said it was my fault, at which point they sent me a check for that same amount and then told me that I owed it to them again. It just seems to me as if the entire process is just overcomplicated. I was furious when they signed me up for a class without informing me. I got over it, but when your going to school with a GI bill you don't have the luxury to go back and forth with classes like that. I had explicitly told them that with work, school, and family I couldn't manage more than 4. My experience with the school other than that instance has been well. The instructors have been great and the classes have been educational. The buildings themselves are "rustic" but the staff works within those confines to create the best experience possible.Timothy Taylor

I went to this school after leaving from my four year college just to save my income and somehow, this school did helped me succeed easier after getting my Associate's Degree in Computer Engineering! Both main campus and the technical education center campus are welcoming regardless of what field you're studying for. Whether you prefer day courses, online courses, or night courses, the time and budget will be worth your time as long as you maintain things properly. They failed to disclose requiring an absolutely pointless "cornerstone" style class until refusing to let me register for classes for not having taken a useless waste of money course that they didn't tell me I was supposed to waste money on. Now, I'd need special permission, have to take the course on site, and would have to register for only that class (so financial aid goes out the window and loans come due!) I had a decent experience. Some of the teachers were very great, while others were not. Artie Fowler and Diane Tigner were very rude and condescending to me most of the times I needed help with academic advising. My credits didn't transfer very well into Truman State, but I still don't regret starting with the community college. I was a straight A student at MACC, and I am a straight A student at Truman as well. Life is what you make it, I guess. MACC can be an excellent opportunity.Nathan Leiter

To all high school seniors looking at colleges, tour Iowa State! Iowa State was pretty low on my college list but I decided to tour it anyway. Coming from Wisconsin, my first thoughts were it was a college in the middle of no where with an easy acceptance rate…sketchy. But the moment I stepped foot on campus for my college visit I knew it was the place for me. It's a division one school but the beautiful campus and friendly staff made it feel small. Iowa State was the only college I applied to and I am more than happy with that decision. The professors and advisors truly care for every student and want you to succeed. For the university being in a such a small town, there is so much to do at ISU. From intramural sports, clubs, going to sporting events, joining greek life, exploring Ames, there is so much to do. Every fall, I am reminded as to why Iowa State University is ranked as one of the most beautiful campus in the country. All the fall foliage makes me want to keep snapping photos like an incoming freshman visiting the campus for the first time. Some of the best locations for looking at fall colors are: 1) around the campanile, 2) central campus (near Pearson Hall), and 3) along Osborn Dr. If you want to avoid getting judged by others for taking pictures, there are plenty of photo opportunities at Reiman Gardens. However, be sure to take those photos quickly as peak fall colors only lasts for about a week.John Hsieh

Large expansion occurring throughout campus in the engineering and sciences. Since they have instituted 6 sessions Columbia College has proven they are not about the students. By making this move they force students to take student loans or lose part of their Pell grant due to not being enrolled full time. They try telling their students that 6 sessions per year will benefit them. Being a student that is currently enrolled and have been for a few years now I can tell you it is of no good to the student. Not only does it cost us more but instead of having any type of break between already accelerated courses we only have two days off. This is ultimately going to lead to more stressed out students and lower GPA's. There was a time I recommended this College to everyone I came across. Now sadly I make it very clear Columbia College is the worst college you could attend. It is a joke. Rolla's new policy if we don't offer something you need in seat take it online. Not mentioning that not only are online courses significantly more expensive but the work that is required for these is beyond reason. I am talking at minimum double the workload of an in seat class. The teachers are great, administration from the main campus down is terrible. This is no longer a student centered college no matter what their website portrays.Sean Dahlman

I'm currently enrolled at CC. This is the best college I've ever been to. The faculty is understanding and very helpful. They actually care about your education. My advisor was by far the best. She helped me through some very tough decisions and helped me to make the best financial decisions. I visited the enrollment center 3 times to change classes due to my own reasons and all three times they were understanding, helpful, and encouraging. I also went to the enrollment services about my financial status multiple times throughout the year and they were always there to help. They showed me my financial plan exactly including scholarships, loans, and grants. They explained everything to where I could understand and even printed me copies of my plan. BEST COLLEGE containing the VERY BEST PEOPLE! The other reviews that had one star and rude comments, it's because of their stupidity and closed mindedness. I had a terrible experience at this school. I would highly recommend not going to this college. They do not care about how you as the student does. All they care a bout is your money. You will NEVER hear back from any of your online teachers. I tried emailing a teaching with a question 3 times and not once did I hear back from the teacher. If for any reason you need to withdrawal they will not except it. Even if you withdraw a day or 2 after the deadline, they will make you pay every cent, even if you had good reason for the withdrawal. If you want to attend a college that cares about your needs and your success I would highly recommend choosing a different college because the only thing they care about at this college is getting your money. Run!!! don't walk RUN!!! From this school. My boyfriend and daughter both started around the same time in 2020 and both have left due to not being able to access their school assignments as well as lack of communication from anyone at the school. My boyfriend couldn't access his excel homework until after the class ended. Oh they gave him an extension but still could access all of the assignments for every week. 1 class he had to redo assignments that he completed due to the switch to mind tap for all assignments. My daughter has been trying to stay in and she has completed a week but for 4 weeks she has been trying to contact someone from the school about her grades/classes and today when she stated she is withdrawing someone emails her back straight away. There are no live lectures anymore everything is prerecorded with the teachers who recorded them not there anymore and the new teachers don't know or don't care about the mistakes / issues with the recorded lectures. Not student friendly take your grants/loans/money to a better program.Patricia Eden

My experience with the administration, faculty and friendly staff was second to none over the last few years. Being a veteran I was looking for a online program that worked with me having a normal day to day job with trying to accomplish another degree. Got started with Vocational Rehab on the military side, which worked along with the abtu admin side and I did the rest. I was very hesitant with being old, going back to school with having a family and dealing with everyday life, but the staff the teachers and everyone else made things go smoothly with no regrets. I enrolled here in Nov 2012 to obtain my AAS in Business Administration and Information Technology. I have enjoyed every moment of it. The curriculum is amazing, the instructors are outstanding! I did alot of research on other schools before picking ACOT. The way they do the live lectures in classrooms put them way ahead of the rest. Simply "Top Notch". Im even considering going all the way to get my Bachelors Degree. By being ex-military or civilian, getting started is really easy from financial aid to getting in the classroom and getting started. I recently graduated from the Transport Training located on the Neosho campus and loved the whole experience. When I first learned that I was going there I was a natural sceptic, but only because I never knew that a "Community College" would actually have so much to offer. While I was there training for my Missouri CDL exam I lived on campus at RoughRider Village. Everyone I ever came into contact with on campus was always friendly and helpful. Crowder allowed me the opportunity to never again judge a school by its name. I had full access of course to all of the many resources that Crowder offers and I used them on a daily basis. The Library was the perfect place to round out my day of training. And by the end of my course, I was wanting it to last another 3 or 4 weeks. The staff for the transport training program were absolutely Great! They were able to make it a very fun and exciting learning experience. And no, it's not all driving. There are many things to learn in order to become a professional driver, not much different that many other fields of study. I was so impressed with the school, that I am currently in the process of trying to get a new set of classes started later this year, by utilizing the Online Programs and partnerships that are currently being offered at Crowder. I would recommend this school to anyone who is considering any of the programs they offer. They also have a top notch athletic program. I encourage you to give them a fair chance when deciding on your school. And for the record I traveled many states to attend Crowder, and will be recommending it for years to come. Lastly I want to say thank you again to all the staff at Crowder, you folks should be used as the standard. And just so everyone knows Ms. Peggy in the cafeteria cooks everything with lots of love. I absolutely loved the cafeteria and all of the many choices they provide daily. So check them out if you really want a great school. I believe you too will be surprised. My experience at Crowder College was great until recently. I have been a student for awhile. I attended on campus at Mac County, and then transferred to online when I moved to Oklahoma because I enjoyed the college that much. The reason I'm posting only two stars is because of how I was treated by a woman named Robin in Financial Aide. As a student in general, I would hope to never be talked down to by any advisor at Crowder College. I have a few mental health issues including anxiety. I'm also on the spectrum for ASD. This woman belittled me, and made me feel completely incompetent because I clicked a wrong button on my FASFA, and instead of explaining this to me politely or helping me fix it, I was forced to write out a letter explaining that I had made a mistake and had issues and had to sign it to return to the Financial Aide office before she would simply fix the small mistake I made. When I brought this to the attention of my college advisor he informed the appropriate people and told me it would be taken care of. This whole experience has made me never want to use Crowder again. I felt embarrassed, belittled, and stupid by this woman. I will not be returning to Crowder ever again unfortunately.Zoie Vickery

Okay, my initial review was based upon the ease of transition from high school to college my child was given. And, for the next couple of months it went well. Without going into specific detail, I watched our confident, adventurous child become a withdrawn, sullen depressed person. When I approached her about that she said she tried to get help from the college, but they told her she was pretty much on her own. They told me the same thing. The only reason she is there now is because the vocational school attached to the college is in her field. We moved her off the campus and into an apartment and she is doing much better. My experience at NCTA is an extremely large reason behind my career and social success. The social networking that NCTA's small but friendly campus offers is one of a kind. The approachability to professors and faculty is exceptional for a busy, growing, college of it's size. I will be completely honest. I did some PSEO courses here and thought it was a nice campus. There is some struggles and problems with the school, but nothing to make this not a choice for a college. Teachers are nice, most of the students are fine and just do there own thing, there is a couple of clubs and activities, and the class sizes see to be reasonable (smaller than JMHS). What a joke… My wages are currently being levied for a semester I did not even get to attend! The Financial Aid/Counselor I worked with helped me sign up for all the classes needed for that semester but did not inform me that I had no available financial aid. By the time, I discovered this (3 weeks into class) it was too late to withdraw without paying full price. I called multiple people at the school but all refused to help or did not know how to help. Nice buildings, TERRIBLE instructors, especially in their medical-focused science programs. Instructors changing assignments, deleting submitted work, and failing entire sections of classes.. Instructors that play the "gotcha" game, attempting to fail and trick you on material and assignments, as opposed to trying to teach. Have professors ripping material directly from other programs and having you do it for assignments (other universities) that still has other universities logos all over it. Also, you're on your own, admin will not respond / is not on your side. I would spend my money and time elsewhere if AT ALL possible. Had an instructor claim they have the "best program in the state" and then fail to respond by email for about 3 months, and had to get Dean involved. Feels like I'm interacting with high school students for professors. I am from out of state and it turns out Iowa has basically no resources regarding escalating issues with professors – what they say goes and that's it, regardless of how inappropriate or unproductive. Kirkwood is a fantastic school with high level talent. The college seems to view itself as a service to paying customers (a bafflingly rare delight), and offers courses that inspire good work and deep thinking. Kirkwood *far* exceeds any other educational institution I've attended. The admission process is transparent, the courses you're paying for are clearly outlined, the requirements of the course are made plain at the start of the term… man. I can't say enough nice things. And you know what? I never once had anyone correct me to say "Call me 'Doctor' ". That may not mean much to you, but it meant a hell of a lot to me. Do yourself a favor and go here for your first two years with an eye to transfer on, should that be your aim. You're not just getting more for your money. You're flat out getting more.Claiming Light

Least understanding faculty. Called 6 hours after my deadline to cancel a test that I paid $95 dollars to take. The program director for CE was rude and condescending stating that she would not refund my exam because I was simply 6 hours past the 24 hour deadline. This school is clearly just out to rob people of their money and it’s sickening. I’ve had nothing but a bad experience and it’s crazy to me because at one point I was so excited to attend. I was very happy with Kris Jackson she did my tour and always answered me when I had any questions. I started in January of 2021 still in the mist of COVID. I had a good experience, be prepared NOTHING IS EASY you have to study study study. I feel like most of the teachers there really do want to see you do good and will genuinely try to do a lot to help. I struggled a lot but there is always tutoring and someone willing to help. With every school comes drama that has nothing to do with school but just to know. There’s a lot of commitment when signing up so just know what your getting yourself into. The school teaches you a lot you need to know and has plenty of resources if you need more help. Only thing I wish I knew was more things that we could’ve been taught for the “real world” like a lot we get taught we need to know but there is some small things we have to know like trying to find veins by ourself or little tricks other than that I had a good experience. I would recommend if you are able to commit to a long hard program it is very rewarding in the long end.Emily Pham

As a former graduate of VTI and soon to be practicing veterinarian medicine for about a year I cannot thank the staff and mentors enough for caring and teaching me the skills that I use in everyday practice. They were always so thoughtful and there when you needed a helping hand wether it was something as big as tutoring before all classes started or as small as just small words of advice to keep students going through the program. The classes are geared towards exactly what you need to know and all the teachers seem to be very knowledgeable in which subjects they teach. The Vet Tech Institute is an incredible school that teaches the reality of the animal career field. It teaches self discipline, personal instinct to trust, and an incredible amount of respect for the workers in any animal field. The staff are so incredibly patient and truly show their passion to teach and to love the animals we work with on an everyday basis. Being able to work with animals everyday in class only better creates a self confidence that has to be grown. I had a really good experience at Concorde. It changed my life a lot, I didn’t start at concorde first. I went to MCC just across the street from the campus and I honestly feel like it was a mistake to go there, feels like I wasted time and I did. I was going for the same career Medical Assistant and I was there for three years, not even learning the things I needed to become an MA. I loved that starting here I was learning and doing hands on. Which for me I learn best and I’m just glad where it has me now, I just finished externship and got offered a full time job where I’m at which is great. I graduated from the Specialized Trainer and Professional Groomer programs and I LOVED every minute of each! All of the instructors were very knowledgeable and and were more than willing to help out with anything I needed and answered every question I had. Jennifer and Karey in the admissions office were also willing to help with anything I needed, and were a huge help with job placement. Everyone at the APC, including the other students, were always so kind and I always felt welcome. This school is amazing. I went through the Vet Assistant program and loved every second of class! Sure there is some textbook stuff, but every minute was fascinating! You also learn a lot more skills so you stand out to employers. My teacher is amazing and cares so much! In fact the whole school cares so much! I took the Professional Groomer course over the summer and fall of 2017, and cannot recommend it highly enough. The staff is friendly, professional and genuinely interested in preparing their students for careers in working with animals. I had a job lined up before beginning the course, but if you don't they will work to help find you a landing spot. They also make themselves available for graduates to ask for advice in their careers. If you're interested in a career working with companion animals, APC is the place to start.Jeffrey Trotter

My cats had received care at this clinic from 2017 to 2021. It has taken me a while to write this review based on my last interaction with them as I wanted time to process the loss of my cat and not have it be so emotionally driven. Let me say that up until July 2021 I had nothing but positive things to say about this vet clinic as the staff and vets as they were kind and attentive. The lowered star review is for my last months there under the care of Dr. Faris. I was referred to Dr. Faris a holistic vet for the care of my cat with chronically ill condition and at first my experience was great. Dr. Faris was attentive and would take the time to explain the different approaches she recommended. But as time went on, she became pushier and very short in her bedside demeanor. My negative experience occurred when I was preparing for a move to a different and wanted to get a full check up for my cats. The test results came back abnormal but she didn't take the time to explain or answer my questions, I felt dismissed and brushed off. I had to set up a separate appointment to get all of my questions answered regarding the test results which I was charged for. The end of life decisions for pets are hard for pet owners and she seemed callus and uncaring while walking me through his test results. When I was explaining my difficulty of making a decision, she outright blurted out to put my cat down instead of walking me through the quality of life and the progression of the disease. She also said that at home appointments were not an option as they were short staffed and insisted I make an appointment at the office. Someone else had recommended laps of love when I had made the hard decision. I believe that a softer tone and patience to walk a pet parent through this hard decision would have been kinder. I spent months grappling with my decision afterwards; "did I make the right decision". My other cat also had neurological symptoms which she brushed off, but I was adamant and saw Dr. Roberts for a second opinion who recommended me to see a specialist who diagnosed him with a rare cancer. I had been telling Dr. Faris of his symptoms for over a year and was dismissed. I spent the last 8 months debating whether or not I had made the right decision to put my cat down because she missed the diagnosis of my other cat. When I was notified of picking up my cats ashes, it was just matter of fact – here they are. I when I had explained the new diagnosis of my other cat, Dr. Faris stated "I expected that" but never, not once did she explain that possibility to me. The front desk staff witnessed her harshness and apologized on her behalf. I did not receive condolences from the clinic after my cat passed. At first I didn't think it was a big deal until I received condolence cards from Chewy and Laps of Love. (*Recommendation to the clinic, send a condolence card to pet parents who are clients that lose their pet, I can tell you that a small kind gesture goes a long way). My positive experiences at this clinic was tainted in the last few months with a particular provider. I do know that the staff deeply care about animals and were probably overwhelmed with increased patient load. I definitely left with a sense that business changes and money focus (increased prices, shorter appointment lengths) began changing the clinic dynamic. Recommendation for pet parents: 1) be your pets' best advocate and listen to your intuition – switch vets if something doesn't add up, 2) if your case becomes complicated – drive the 2 hours to K State University to see an internist / specialist because the cost may end up being less (they are definitely cheaper than blue pearl and blood/diagnostic tests are in-house and are cheaper than the vet clinic), 3) Dr. Roberts, Jamie, and Holly are super kind and attentive – all of my positive experiences from this clinic has been with them.J C

If I could give them 10 stars I would! Dr. Roberts and her staff are amazing. She has treated all of my pets and even plan on taking my foster dog. Her staff is compassionate and never makes me feel like I am a crazy dog mom (I totally am). I have had countless emergencies with my boys (4 pit bulls) in the past several years. From an ear infection, to bone cancer in the face. Dr. Roberts has treated it all. She is honest and I trust her. She went above and beyond to care for one of my boys that passed away this past year by offering to keep him in her office when he became sick and I was stuck out of town. I will forever be grateful to her and her staff for the amazing care they gave my Baby Boy. Saturday, my Littlefoot, american bulldog/pit mix, hurt his arm and was whining and whimpering so crazy dog mom that I am was ready to run to the emergency room but Heather calmed me down and walked me through a plan and promised to get me in Monday if he wasn't better by then. With bed rest and some pain meds he is doing a lot better and had just strained it while probably chasing a squirrel! This is the type of customer service they offer though, they're not trying to over charge you an arm and leg with multiple unneeded visits but genuinely want to help you and your pet. The office visits are less than $50 and while all veterinary work is known to be expensive I don't feel like any service I have paid for was a rip off. (My bills have ranged from an office visit to tumor removals) I recommend Boardwalk Vet and Dr. Roberts to everyone that I know and I hope if you've read this you will take your family pet here too!Jessica Shorts

My fur son Java had to stay here for 7 nights and almost 8 days. He had eaten part of a towel/blanket at his boarding place when we were out of town and we took him here, they did multiple x-rays and really monitored him well. He is back to his normal self! He seemed to love this place and I love Dr. Roberts. She was very informative and positive. Though my husband and I came in the first day in so much despair and sadness that he may need surgery, she took it day by day with us by not jumping to surgery since he was getting better and better. The staff there is super friendly, and Jean, who is pictured here putting Java back in his kennel who took them on walks and cooked for them was so helpful, gracious and kind. Java seemed to really like her and she even offered to make him an omelette with the stuff I brought him because he was having issues with eating and she was so kind to him and I can tell he really was comfortable there and was well cared for. Also I noticed that Jean and whoever else there kept the facility really nice and clean. Java had made the floors all messy with his slobbering and when I left for a walk with him and came back, she not only had emptied the trash already but also mopped up the floor. The best grooming around! Sara is an outstanding groomer who not only is a true talent in the grooming world but also is full of love when it comes to your fur baby. We have had the pleasure of having Sara groom our goldendoodle for many years now and he loves visiting her. We come to Sara every 5-6 weeks for grooming. She takes the absolute best care of him when he is with her and recognizes his needs. She is patient with him, gives him lots of love, and always sends him home looking fresh, handsome, and perfect. Our doodle has some anxiety and Sara always goes the extra mile to make him feel comfortable and safe. Today Chewy Reginald (my pup) and I visited College Boulevard Animal Hospital. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful, getting us in ASAP today. The tech that came in first was very thorough and really tried hard to put Chewy at ease as he was very nervous to be there (she was so sweet with him). Dr. Pippin was also very thorough and helpful. They answered all of my questions and quickly assisted in getting the items we needed to get Chewy healthy again. If you’re in need of a groomer for your 4 legged family member I can highly recommend Sara at College Boulevard Animal Hospital. We’ve known Sara for quite sometime and used her multiple occasions. Our dog gets extremely excited when we tell her she is gonna go see Sara. Our pet is absolutely gorgeous when she comes out, talk about a make-over. I had an amazing experience at Mission Animal Clinic. I am a first time cat dad, needless to say myself and Ed (my cat) were a bit nervous before coming in. All worries were quickly calmed as the staff of Mission Animal Clinic is friendly and passionate about taking care of animals.
