Review Summary
Enjoyed most of my experience as a distance education student. I often came across helpful and caring faculty and staff. However, the process for distance education students are unclear and I spent lots of time and money figuring out the process and trying to minimize delay. This included: 1.) Several semesters waiting for a class to be available online so I could fulfill the requirements of my degree, only to find that accommodations are made only for students who ask. 2.) I was required to travel to LCC on multiple occasions for two classes, when the distance education pathway for my degree specifically stated "completely online". 3) Graduation application processing for distance education students are unclear. You have to mail in the application and payment which means you have to do it well before the deadline in order for it to be processed at all and avoid having to redo it and submit it in the next semester. I also found that this is unnecessary – payment could be processed in the cashiers office at the campus nearest you if LCC would just put the charges in – when seeking help and direction from the LCC Admissions & Records office they just seemed bothered, terse and abrupt. Overall, I enjoyed the learning experience but I am sorely disappointed in the delays, costs, and unclear guidance of the distance education program. I hope others have a better experience.Michelle Agbigay
Leeward Community College (LCC) is a "best value for your dollar" if you are seeking to pursue higher education. It's conveniently located near central and leeward Oʻahu with accessibility via public transportation. For commuters free parking is available, however the lot fills quickly most mornings, so it's early bird gets the stall on this one. This four-year college provides degree programs in a variety of disciplines including culinary arts, education, health, communications, and technology, among others. LCC offers robust distance learning options, programs for non-traditional students, and a head start program for high school students. LCC is a firm stepping stone toward an advanced degree and a terrific environment to hone current skills or retrain in a new industry. Those who are considering transferring from another institution should careful check your transcript to ensure that your credits are transferable. Even if a class has the same course title, syllabus information may be valuable for approval. Keep in mind that transferred credits are at the discretion of the institution and may vary from program to program.Pauwilo Look
So I sign up for financial aid, sign all the mandatory paperwork that gets sent to my email and pass my classes with flying colors. At the end of the semester, I have to fly back to the mainland and I end up staying there for a year. The end of that year, I get a random call from a creditor that I owe the college. I get on a payment plan immediately and start working it out – they had given me FA paperwork for the NEXT semester so my FA never went through and I suddenly found I had to pay it all back ASAP. Flash forward to today and KapiolaniCC understands my story and releases my transcripts. Leeward absolutely refuses and the woman had the audacity to insult me. No class. Who is working in the transcript office? This woman needs work training on ethics and since you can't teach empathy to a lifeless trout, may all her bacon burn.Nadja Howell

This was our last day with our baby. Our pain runs so deep and the tears aren't going away. But I did want to share his story and also how truly impressed we were with the Pet Vet Hospital in Salt Lake. I had cold called the Pet Vet Hospital at 7:45pm on Friday evening because Polu had a bloated belly, he was lethargic, and had stopped eating. He looked sick and told us with his eyes and constant wanting of hugs and cuddles. They told me to bring him down immediately. We parked the car in one of their stalls and texted them with our arrival. They came out within 10 minutes. I asked if I could muzzle him as a precaution. They said sure, and it's not like Polu is a biter, he just has a history of not liking needles and vet visits. Because of covid, humans are not allowed in the office, so off he went with the nurse. I'm not sure if her title is nurse but she was amazing and resembled one. With her stethoscope and note pad and calm and caring demeanor, off they went. Doctor Onaga called us about 15 minutes later. He had done a chest Xray and explained that he didnt see anything definitive but did confirm that polu had a build up of fluid around his belly. He wanted to do a deeper analysis with a radiologist and told us to take Polu home and come back at 8am to do an ultrasound. Our boy came out with no muzzle and wagging his tale. They said he was good boy. I slept with Polu that night and cuddled with him. He had labored breathing and just couldn't get comfortable with his bloated belly. But he was exhausted and fell asleep right next to me. Next morning, Dr. Onaga led with a 7am follow up call, Polu's heart looked enlarged and the reasons could be heart disease or pericardial infusion which both could possible be the cause of fluid around his belly. We headed back at 8am. Doctor Onaga met us outside, and went over the game plan. An ultrasound was performed and he was diagnosed with hermangiosarcoma. He had a mass at the base of his heart, that was causing a build up of blood in the sac around the heart which was constricting his heart function and the build up of fluid around the belly was a direct result of this as well. His prognosis was bleak and we had to make the hardest decision that no pet owner wants to make. Dr. Onaga explained everything with the utmost professionalism and compassion as we cried and wailed. He told us to take our time and call them when we decided. They brought Polu out so we could say good bye and give our last kisses. My bf, daughter and myself were led to an outdoor play area where my baby would take his last breath. Polu sat up tall like he always did. We always said he sat like a lion. And then he fell asleep, crossing over the rainbow bridge to meet all our other babies that awaited him. The vet offers cremation, we will get him back in week. I wanted to share this because Pet Vet Hospital was first class. They treated our baby like a human. That is exactly what we took away from our experience. I can't put into words how impressed we were. Dr. Onaga and staff was the best I've seen from any vet and we've been to many vets. Although, our ending is very sad, we are happy that our baby was under their care. Mahalo Pet Vet Clinic, salt lake.Hollie K

I was taking my 3 dogs to another vet their whole life until my mom decided to try another vet. Between the pet clinic and honolulu pet clinic, we chose the pet clinic accidentally. But fortunately the staff here is so nice and we love Dr harada, so we stayed! He is so kind, personable, and I can tell he really cares about the pets. He never rushes and always asks how are the other doggies doing. Unfortunately the prices we pay here are higher than our original vet but I can tell the quality of care is top notch!Beverly Nguyen

Came in with the intent of just getting one shot done. But they ended up doing all these other check ups then by the time they finished, they didn’t even give my dog the shot. Claiming she was too worked up. Doesn’t seem like the vet techs can handle the animals all too well. I’ve been to many other vets for previous dogs and none have ever made comments in regards to my animals behavior or “anxiety” the way they did, or claimed to be unable to give a shot. My dog wasn’t growling or trying to bite them, just didn’t stay still because she was scared. They then prescribed anxiety medication that I was then billed for. Ended up being charged $250 for what ended up seeming like a basic check up since I didn’t get the shot I went for. Then them quoting an additional $350 for the next appointment which would finally include the one shot plus a whole list of other things I hadn’t asked for.Julia Holt
First time we brought in my dog for an ear infection due to her allergies, they did great. Kept bringing her in for her check ups, only to later be charged for more small, unnecessary things. When we tried to get her rabies shots updated before we flew out, they first gave us an estimated price of $200, then the bill went up to $300, then jumped to $600, all because of her skin condition, and still did not give her the rabies shots. It seemed like they really cared about my dog’s well being at first, then it began to feel like it was all about money. Felt like we were being scammed, so we scheduled with a different vet. The goal was to get my dog out of Hawaii in hopes she’ll thrive in a better environment, and unfortunately, they really let us down.Hollis Bates
We have been going to Haiku Vet for MANY YEARS! They're amazing! Great Doctors and techs… Close to home👍!!! Amazing care!!! We have had multiple animals over the years and ALWAYS gone to Haiku Vet!!! If there was something they couldn't handle, they would send us to Feather and Fur 👍!!! Both work well together 👍!!! No complaints here! Would highly recommend, but right now unfortunately, they're not taking new patients 💔. Call them and see when they WILL BE 👍! Good luck!! 💞ALOHA FROM HAWAI'I 💞🌹 LYSSA 🌹Lyssa Moura

We love Ali’i! We have been going here ever since we moved here 2+ years ago. We see the vet, groomer and even board our dog here when we go on vacation. He had to have surgery last year and it was a great experience as we were very nervous. When they board there are cameras in the room so you can keep an eye on your babies. The groomer has limited hours so you need to plan/schedule ahead but our dog always comes out with the best cut!Amanda Roberts
Our first experience with Ali’i was a really good one. Their staff was friendly and courteous. And Dr Denzdell was compassionate and professional. And they were able to squeeze us in on the same day. They are open on weekends so you know you’re not going to have to pay any unnecessary boarding fees. Fortunately our Kitty was out the same day. And they did an excellent job. We would definitely recommend this place.Jason St James

We took our dog there a couple times, first because his paw pads had cracked and second to get his Bordetella vaccine. Our dog is a high anxiety dog and needs special attention and patient, however, instead of patience, they were more focused on seeing him as quickly as possible. Anytime we ever took our dog to the vet and even now, we just had to leave the room and let the doctor take care of his needs. Instead, their instinct here was to muzzle him and pin him down!! He’s not a vicious or angry dog, he’s just high anxiety and super protective of my husband and me. The only reason for the 2 stars is they’re reasonably priced and easy to book. Will not be taking our doggo back here. Very discouraged by their lack of patience and interest to make a dog as comfortable as possible when they’re in pain. Muzzles restrict a dogs ability to breathe and that’s the last thing you want when they’re already stressed. Note: yes, I understand he shouldn’t be “protective” and we’re actively seeking training for his behavioral issues, however, this should never be the go to fix when dealing with a high anxiety dog.Zoe Knotts
I've been bringing my pets to Dr Kam and her the staff at Ohana Vet Hospital for over 15 years. They're professional, courteous, caring, compassionate and honest in providing the best health care whether routine or emergency. Plenty of parking but really appreciate the dedicated coned stalls right at front entry. Thank you OVH for all you do…you're da best!A DCT
I have been taking my dogs to this vet clinic a few years and I'm very comfortable with it. I moved to further from the clinic on the island but still bring my pups to them because I trust the doctors and stuff members. They are friendly and even though are very busy all the time, they always do a good job.Blu Phone South Korea

PetVet is the only vet I trust my babies with! I’ve had so many bad experiences with other vets, and when I finally found PetVet I was SO thankful. Their compassion is unmatched. They love my babies like I do, and I trust them with their lives. My puppy got into gum, they saved her life and hospitalized her for a few days. I took my senior cat to 3 different vets before I found PetVet, and no one could figure out what was wrong. I thought he was about to pass away until Dr. Yusuda took the time to diagnose him with diabetes. He’s now thriving and back to his old self! All in all, I tell all my friends that PetVet is the best!Ashlee Klemer
Our greyhound became severely dehydrated on her flight from the mainland, we called PetVet as soon as we picked her up from quarantine and explained the situation and they were able to get her in to be seen right away. Everyone was amazing, communication was excellent, they explained costs and provided an accurate estimate. Our girl ended up staying overnight for IV fluids and her care was wonderful. This was not what we were expecting on our first day in Hawaii but the staff at PetVet put us at ease made everything as seamless as possible!Adam Mann
This is a wonderful facility and the staff is amazing. I have brought two of my dogs here several times for urgent and emergency medical issues. They are incredibly understanding and helpful. When one of my dogs passed away I brought her to Pet Vet for cremation. The staff was very comforting and understanding for our situation and really gave my old girl a dignified send off. They are absolutely wonderful here! Absolutely recommend them for any veterinarian needs.M Bennett

This post is for Dr. Ganzer. I moved here in 2016 with my dog, who had only been seen and treated by my childhood friend's father (a well-established and respected Veterinarian). I know my friend's dad treated everyone well, but he always shot it to me straight and never pushed unnecessary procedures or meds. I was mentally prepared to not have the same level of care and trust in our new vet. When I moved here, I went to several Vet Clinics and always felt like the staff and doctors were pushing unnecessary test, vaccines, and procedures – giving me estimates and always billing more and giving me lame excuses for why it was higher than their quotes. That was until we met Dr. Gavin Ganzer. Dr. Ganzer listened to me, was understanding of my situation/concerns, and always spoke in a respectful and sincere manner. He always takes time to explain his recommendations and is never pushy. Always gives accurate quotes and has never taken advantage of me during emergency situations. I have FINALLY found a veterinarian who I trust and respect as much as my friend's father. Visit after visit he continues to confirm that impression. When he left his last practice, I did not hesitate at all to follow him. I know without a shadow of a doubt that he cares about my dog and is an honest person who views his job as a privilege and does not take the trust of his client's for granted. If you're unhappy with your current vet (or need one as a new pet-parent) Dr. Ganzer is the BEST. 5-star review doesn't do him justice. Thanks for everything Dr. G! This is for the team at OVC: First impression of the OVC team was extremely pleasant. My 8-year-old dog was bit at a dog park, and they were extremely responsive, caring, and understanding of my concerns/feeling of urgency. Clean clinic, professional/friendly staff, and great communication skills. 5 Star first impression of OVC team and clinic.Cameron Lehrer
The vet we've been looking for. After multiple tries with different vets, we have finally found our home. It was the best experience yet. Dr. Dang was absolutely amazing. My dog Indy was already uncomfortable and traumatized from her previous experiences but she really took the time to get to know Indy and make her feel comfortable by going the extra mile of going on the ground and giving her treats. Not only did Dr. Dang make us both feel comfortable but she was honest. She gave us multiple options with different budget prices which I really appreciated. She also went the extra mile to check the pricing with everything to give me an honest quote. I felt like Indy was in great hands and it was a great experience finally being at the appointment with Indy getting to talk to the vet face to face. Overall, Indy and I had a welcoming experience where I really felt safe and heard. We are so happy we found our new vet! Mahalo Dr. Dang!Lekaleka Kiner-Falefa
Wonderful experience. Being new to living downtown, I had to find a nearby Veterinarian when my dog had some stomach issues. I called here, booked and appointment for the next day. When we showed up, we were greeted by friendly/professional staff. They really are awesome. I filled out some paperwork and got called back immediately to be seen. After some preliminary questions, the Vet came in, did the exam, and offered us some options for treatment. After deliberating for a bit, a decision was made and we were sent on our way with the necessary medications/instructions. This was hands down the easiest Vet visit I have ever had. Everyone we encountered here was over the top amazing. I cannot recommend this place enough for your pets care. They truly are above the standard.Jakob Z

Review Summary
My first visit as a new client here was wonderful, however the second visit was absolutely terrible! Rude office manager (Amelia), disorganized, and three hour wait time. I rescued a 6 month old puppy that was malnourished and pretty beat up, so naturally she is skiddish. My second visit here was set up two weeks prior to my appointment and I confirmed over both email and text days before. They waited until just 45 minutes before my appointment to call me and say we were unable to see the same Vet as last time AND I wasn’t allowed to go in with my puppy for the appointment. When I asked why I was just now being informed about this and why I wasn’t allowed to go in with her Amelia, the Office Manager, was extremely unsympathetic and rude with her response of “I would expect you to understand given the day in age the world is in right now.” Not only that, but my puppy would be seeing a Vet who I don’t even see listed on their website. When I arrived.. I guess the Office MANAGER couldn’t even communicate to the assistant coming and getting my puppy from the car that she had even spoken to me. The assistant was so kind and admitted even they were confused about the status of this appointment. And to top it off, they had my puppy for over THREE HOURS. They kept telling me that the doctor was with other clients and would be seeing her soon and giving me a call. Three hours later I finally get a call from the doctor saying what they did without any apology for the wait, miscommunication, etc. If you want to spend your limited off time dealing with the most confusing and disorganized animal clinic with rude office managers, than this is your place. But considering there a ton of animal clinics all over the island, I think it’s worth the drive to go somewhere that actually cares about their clients.Jessica Sawyer
First off this rating is for the front desk, phones, intake, etc. not the vet. So, we had an appointment for our pet having blood in stool. That can be the symptom of several things ranging from minor issues to sever. When I got there and called I was asked to wait, fine, but not in a hot car for 20 min on the line with no response. I also use the text number in the meantime but I still have not seen a single answer on that nor does it appear that they have read any of my texts. (Just cross out the text number if it doesn't work). I gave up on the initial phone call and try to call again repeatedly. Several times I only got a dial tone. I finally got through and they still asked me to hold on the line which I refused to do. At that point my poor pet had been forced to stay in my car in the 90° heat for over a half hour. In total it took 2 hours to get in and out today. And I am done. I'd be happy to see recommendations for another clinic. But I don't want to be ignored when simply trying to get my pet looked at. The last time I brought my pet there it was for a basic checkup and shots, that time it took 45 minutes to get in.Kaydee Greene
DEFINITELY UNWELCOMING FOR A FIRST TIME IMPRESSION. I called the Clinic and the female placed me on hold for almost 30 minutes and then I got disconnected. Then I thought maybe i could go down to their clinic to see if I can schedule an appointment for our cat. Well as I entered the door I was shooed away by a female staff with a negative hand gesture. She shooed me away like I was an animal. I was cut short and wasn't able to complete my concern. Even when I told her that I was unable to get through via telephone the female staff said just call and leave. NO ALOHA SPIRIT AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THE ANIMAL CLINIC OF HONOLULU, 1048 Koko Head Avenue.Mela Kealoha-Lindsey

I have only been going to VCA a short time. I had my first visit and was given great attention and my animal was well cared for. On my next visit, I was taking in my pet I lost to sudden illness for cremation. Though the circumstance was unpleasant, the care I received from the staff was amazing. I called when I was on my way and they had a room already set up when I arrived. They treated me with compassion and sympathy and my vet even sent a personalized sympathy card with specifics about my pet that she remembered from his first visit. Highly recommend the staff and hospital for all types of visits.Wendy Aoki
Of all of the VCA locations this one is the least cooperative with the rest of them. However… Revised the rating because while the interconnectivity leave much to be desired, the staff is friendly and helpful. Once all the hoops are jumped through and the technology cooperates everyone wins. I'm sure this is a wonderful clinic and if I only ever had to work this one vet I'd have nothing but praise for them.Enabler808
VCA University was amazing! I had a negative experience with VCA in California, and was nervous to try another. But right off the bat the staff was extremely friendly, informative, punctual, and kind. They give new patients a reduced price exam ($25) and gave me and my kitties some free items, such as a small scratched and a litter scoop. A very warm welcome after just moving to the island 🙂Kira Fish

I chose this clinic for my new German Shepard puppy. At around 10 weeks, she had an unusual lump in her neck. After paying $500 for X-ray and biopsy the vet let me know that it was an inflammation, maybe caused by an injury as a very young puppy. Not to worry, that it wouldn’t grow, and I should wait until spaying her to remove it. She’s 16 weeks now and I noticed recently that it has definitely gotten larger, so immediately scheduled for a second opinion. My new vet was immediately concerned and even told me after getting my first vets records that they were documenting that it was getting larger. They never even told me!!! Never mentioned it!! When she got her last shots all they told me was call when she’s six months to schedule her spay and they would take out the growth at the same time. My new vet confirmed she needs it removed immediately as it is clearly something to be very concerned about. I’m so upset that I stuck with this clinic in the beginning. I should have known better and immediately gone for a second opinion , but I chose to trust them instead. Big mistake ☹️. If you are going for annual check ups they are great and very nice, professional, friendly. The owner is Very nice as well. If your dog has any type of condition (other than physical therapy) I recommend you rethink before choosing this clinic.Katy Griffith
They took good care of my Silly Kitty and helped me to learn how to read cat behavior better. I didn't realize my cat was experiencing so much distress with her teeth and ears. Thankfully I came to THPC. This team of professionals is TOP NOTCH. Not only were they very compassionate in caring for my cat's health but they are non-judgmental toward non-vet owners, who are (mostly innocently) ignorant of cat issues. I am no longer ignorant of hidden cat issues! I not only feel confident that my kitty's health was their top priority but also that they truly believe in owner education. They equipped me with information, tools, and a website that teach me how to better care for the needs of my own pet. As a result, I was able to take this new information confidently made changes to my cat's diet, parasite prevention, toothbrushing habits (yes!), and even added running water fountains (Petsafe Drinkwell) in our home to entice more water drinking (and more water play!). As she became healthier, my kitty got her spunk back! Lastly, every person in this place is amazing. They are efficient, organized, and super kind, friendly, knowledgable, etc. Please do your pet a favor and bring them to these caring professionals.Jodie Kaderli
I have always felt their #1 priority was my pets health and their well being. I have been taking my two senior dogs there (11yo female lab & 8yo male lab) for the past 3 yrs. Dr. Hsu has been the main provider. A lot of pet owners worry about “cost” but I truly know the Staff and Doctors here do this job because they love animals; not for the money. That being said; they always provided me with treatment options and approx costs. Dr. Hsu has great bedside manner. (More “floorside” manner because he just gets down to the ground with my dogs) He kind of just tells me straight forward what’s going on. Some owners are always torn what to do, but he helps navigate the best outcome for my pets. Other staff that deserve some praise: Shaun has been awesome, friendly and Calm. Elizabeth pure heart and very relatable. Rachel always friendly on the phone and going extra to help.Robert Law

Our little fur baby has been suffering with a decaying canine tooth. When Dr. Iwashita of Koolau Veterinary noticed the poor condition of her teeth, he recommended that we call Dr. Constanteras, our Island's only canine dental surgery specialist. That was back in March 2022. I called for an appointment with Dr. Constanteras immediately, and the earliest she can just look at our dog's teeth is on June 1 ! Meanwhile, her toothache started keeping her up at night. It got so bad that I called for an appointment today. Kaneohe VCA has amazingly convenient hours! 7am-7pm every single day! So I was able to see Dr. Houghtailing today at 6pm. The staff and doctor were so understanding and compassionate. He listened to my inadequate description of her symptoms and he prescribed medication to tide her over until she can see the specialist. I stated my purpose of the visit, and he targeted my concerns and addressed each of them! The staff was also very kind and helpful. It was my first visit there (if you have an appointment, you can go into the examination room with your pet and talk with the technician and the doctor) so I got some little gifts as a first time patient. We also have a visit to our original veterinarian over at Koolau Veterinary on Friday. I have informed them about our dog's discomfort, and the soonest Dr. Iwashita can see us will be on Friday. We have seen three veterinarians in Kaneohe since we moved here last summer. All of them are really good doctors, but this is the first time I was able to actually meet our doctor and watch the examination. I really liked Dr. Houghtailing's knowledge of what might be causing her symptoms, and I am so pleased that our little dog will not be suffering from her bad tooth! Thank you Dr. Houghtailing and all of the VCA Kaneohe staff who worked late on Mothers Day! Update: Miss Molly is feeling so much better! In fact she’s back to being demanding and mischievous to get her way! The good news is that we have signed her up for the senior canine care program which includes dental care doctors visits and all of her vaccines. It also includes x-rays and blood tests. You have the option of in person visits so you can talk to the doctor while your pet is being examined. Love it!Donna Nooney
My dog went in for a very minor procedure. Dr did a great job with keeping me in the loop and letting me know what to expect. She also informed me that they were behind in surgeries so my dogs procedure had been pushed back. I dropped my dog off at 7am with her favorite blanket to keep her company. I was sure to tell the staff that she hadn’t used the bathroom yet for that day. Fast forward to 6pm and I receive my dog and her blanket covered in urine. Did they just not take her out the whole day and instead made her lay in a filthy kennel even after she received a bunch of fluids for her procedure? They couldn’t remove the blanket and put a pad? I would’ve been more than happy to drop my dog off at a later time to better accommodate VCA’s busy schedule, but that option was never offered to me. They couldn’t put the sopped blanket in a bag and let me know what happened? Lots of questions I hoped to get answered by the hospital manager who said they were going to follow up with me, but unfortunately I never received that call. Was a huge fan of VCA; always have good docs and energetic techs. This experience was unacceptable and I’d expect better follow up from an organization such as VCA. With all the vets in the island , I’ll be sure to find one that can provide the best service, even for “not important” patientsJulian Samson
Dr. Jason Gray was Amazing! We recently had our (not quite 2 year old) cat fall ill on a Sunday. VCA was able to see us the same morning and we barely waited at all. The facility was super clean and the rooms were nice and cold. (bring a sweater). They have a variety of quality pet food, snacks and toys to browse if you find yourself waiting on results and they even offer free coffee (an added bonus). The technician/assistant Sandra was also wonderful. She was very up front about the fees and explained what each test was for and why the Dr. wanted them. As we prepared to leave Torie explained how to give the meds to Koko & was also beyond patient, informative, and kind. After leaving, Dr Gray called 2 days in a row to check on our cat & made sure we knew the final results of our testing. We just moved to the island and will definitely be going back for any other pet needs.Barbie Brand

10 Stars! Our hopes and expectations were exceeded in every way. Our beloved cat, Princeton, arrived half sedated with a catheter in his arm from another vet that was unable to resolve his life threatening urinary blockage. We feared the worst, and then the incredible staff of Pearl City VCA swung into action. The emergency intake process was thorough and yet completed quickly. The staff were welcoming, calming and professional. In the four days that Princeton was at this large and well equipped facility the communication with his doctors was scheduled and regular. Thank you to each doctor who made it possible for Princeton to be with us today. Each doctor took their time answering our many questions which ultimately helped us to hope for the very best. Many thanks also to the awesome technicians who took such excellent care of our beloved cat and who helped facilitate our daily visits in a private room and especially to the financial advisors who made discussing and understanding treatment costs and options simple and low stress during this very difficult time. While prices may be higher for this large and well appointed facility that is available 24 hours, we ended up paying thousands of dollars less than we expected and even received a sizable refund from our deposit. Thank you to the patient program that made this possible. Most importantly, Princeton is at home again where he is eating and recovering well. We look forward to being cared for by this clinic hospital for many more years. We highly recommend. The picture shows Princeton recovering from his kidney stone removal surgery. Day 1 of being home again.Anna Fausto
I got home one day and my cat had thrown up and couldn’t move. I quickly googled 24/7 emergency vets and this one was rated the best. I called them and asked if we could get him in. They said no problem and were super upfront about cost before I even got there! That is awesome. You don’t always see that at places. The moment I pulled up, three people rushed out to my car and quickly got him into the hospital and in front of the doctor. Within two minutes, the doctor had figured out the problem and let me know the best options moving forward. Within moments a financial coordinator gave me a run down of pricing and was super upfront and honest about the cost. They calculate an estimate for your approval. As with all medical care, the price can fluctuate depending on what is needed so they calculate a high estimate and a low estimate. My cat’s medical aid ended up being right in between the high and low estimate. My cat ended up needing to stay there for about 48 hours. And they called me multiple times a day to update me on his status. In the end they sent me home with medication and some samples of the type of food he should be eating. It’s expensive, but that’s to be expected for emergency room visits. You get what you pay for and this place is the best. At the end of the day, you can’t put a price on saving your fur baby’s life. I highly suggest for anyone with pets to save up a decent amount of coin for emergencies. I want to thank each and every one of you at VCA for saving my cat’s life ❤️Ethan
Our cat, Margot, recently had a terrible accident while trying to jump up onto a kitchen counter. Long story short, her back leg got caught on a drawer handle, and she ended up fracturing all four metatarsals. We initially took her to the nearest 24 hour veterinary ER (VERCA in ala moana). They did the best they could, but when all four bones of the foot are fractured clean across, it's very unlikely for them to heal in-place without corrective surgery. Unfortunately, there's a definite shortage of veterinary surgeons on Oahu, at the moment (only two, if I recall correctly). Because of this, we didn't exactly have the luxury of choosing Margot's surgeon. However, after our experience with this clinic, I'd choose Dr. Lam again in a heartbeat. This place seems abundantly staffed. Everyone I spoke to was very friendly and attentive, and I was regularly called with updates on how Margot was doing. I really felt that she was in good hands the entire time, and the transparency with which they talked about the procedure and her care was refreshing. She took to the procedure very well, it seems! Although she still has weeks of recovery to endure, the future's looking bright for Margot. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking good care of her. Hopefully we never need surgical care for a pet again, but I find comfort in knowing that there are good people we can turn to. ~ Update: As of December, she's fully mobile, walking *beautifully*, and living it up! Here she is in early October / vs now.Char

I've only been going here for a few months, but so far I don't have any complaints. I suck at math, so was very happy to see they have free math tutors in the main library, in a study area! You can sit at a table and work alone (fast and free wifi for students), or ask the math (or english) tutor for help, which is the only thing that enabled me to pass. Beautiful campus, with large jungle trees, birds. I love the library, although they close too early during summer sessions, and are not open on weekends! One thing I don't like, however, is that in many classes, you sign up for the class and pay the tuition, and then the instructor directs you to buy a book (with an authorization code inside) ($190!) which you use to go online (Pearson MathLab), which is where you watch the videos, do the homework, quizzes and exams! If I am paying Pearson to use their website to learn all this, why am I paying the school so much tuition? We're literally paying two different institutions for one math class. Yes, I DO go to math class, but the instructor just goes over the chapter in the book and works out the examples on the board, and is available for questions. I feel this Pearson website should be included in the tuition, because..really now….the instructor isn't really doing anything after class, is she? Like grading homework? It's all online. Finally, this school advertises heavily/recruits in Asian countries, and many non-English speaking students attend the school. I don't have a problem with this, but now, in some of my classes, we have students who speak very, very poor English and can't follow along, (Excel Spreadsheet Class) and are always raising their hands to stop the teacher and have him come over and show them what to do! I don't have a problem with the occasional question regarding a formula, but most of these interruptions are for very simple things, like "How do I open a document?" Me and the rest of the class sit there and twiddle our thumbs, surf facebook or sleep while the whole class comes to a halt to allow the instructor to go to that one station and bring the non-english speaking student up to speed, while the rest of the paying class is sitting there, wasting time. One last thing; avoid the bookstore if you can, and buy or rent them online. Very expensive store, even for simple items! They sell a very cheap Texas Instruments calculator in there (recommended by the math teachers, coincidentally enough), and without even thinking, went over and bought it. They sell it for $20, but used it for about a week, and hated it. I found it very crappy, the buttons wouldn't register when pressed, etc. I was at Target later that week, and noticed they had calculators, and was shocked to see mine hanging there for $7.50! I paid $20 for a calculator Target sells for $7.50? Target had $20 calculators that were amazingly superior to mine, with larger screens, and better functions! What a joke! The other scam they do, is sell "branded" textbooks "specially printed" for Kapiolani College. Which means, they add their own little advertisements to the book! I have a "branded" textbook I bought from them, and every chapter or so there will be an advertisement in there for other classes at the college. Oh, and by the way, because they insert their own pages, guess what? The table of contents is now thrown off. By Chapter 10, when you look up "ROM" for example, the Table of Contents says Page 249. So you go to page 249, and it isn't there. So you start looking back and forth, lo and behold, it is way up on page 260. Thanks, KCC, for making me waste 5 minutes of valuable study time looking for something in a book that I paid $180 for, and in which the table of contents is now useless, because you "branded" the book with advertising inserts! Oh, and good luck selling the book online or to any other school; it says on the cover "Specially printed for KCC!". They do this, basically, to make it harder for you to sell it to a new student.James Dylan
I am a Senior citizen with several Masters Degrees and a world of experience. I can audit classes at KCC, and have taken several undergrad courses in the past two years with various instructors, all highly recommended. You get out of it what you put in, but I never failed to learn a lot in each class I took. The facilities are very good, and the cafeteria is quite good. The Ka'ikena Restaurant has a great view and a learning atmosphere, so we try to get reservations there at least once each semester. A plus is that we don't have to pay for parking and several city buses stop right at the college The teachers are student-centered which must make them crazy sometimes, because a lot of students don't have time to do any studying, or don't buy or read the course resources. This semester I am trying a service learning project. It's a lot of work but I look forward to the experience it provides to learn more about our own community.Frances Chaine
It's an absolutely great school wonderful people awesome View the food is excellent the teachers are fantastic the students are the best-looking students I've ever seen in my life anywhere it could all be supermodels most of the teachers are supermodels every classroom has a Jacuzzi one of the largest cannabis distributors she's right there some of the best waves I've ever served at the end or wave machine. Classes are 24 hours a day so they coincide with the casinos. Victoria's Secret training camp is located right next door. Pablo Escobar's nephew teaches a business class hi. Bela Lugosi is giving a lecture this October 31st. Those six Jamaicans from Cool Running can be seen periodically walking around the facility. If three McDonald's on the compound one of them serves exclusively milkshakes. You have to go upstairs to get into the basement. You can see the world's most interesting man parallel parking trains.Jonny Dakota

Campus is a disgrace. Oh Hi, you paid $2,000+ for classes? Well welcome! Now you just need to give us 20$ so that you are allowed to head to your class without us kicking your ass for coming here in your personal mode of transportation to get what you paid for. We also- as a reminder on your permit receipt, don't care if your car gets broken into, or stolen as it's not our responsibility. Oh but don't worry, enjoy parking your vehicle in our paved lot or our cool dirt, graveled dusty lot. We also have nice guys driving and sitting around to be sure no students forget to pay for their car. Be careful though, we have no white lines indicating parking stalls! Now before you think of heading toward your classroom, Don't forget! it will cost at least $1,000 more in order to fully participate in your class. Once you give all your money, welcome to your classrooms located in these tall apartment buildings. Oh one more thing, watch out on the way, as vehicles need to drive in the path you need to take to get to your class. Of course, if you want to kill yourself it will gladly make it easier for you! plus, we have many students present on both sides of the single path to your classroom, and situated all around campus that love to puff smoke and/or vapor in your face so that your lungs burn, eyes get irritated, and you get asthma and possibly an allergic reaction. We hope you have a great time, welcome to Honolulu Cash Charity college!Soukapella
If you don't mind people exhaling their cigarette smoke or vape being blown in your face while you walk to class, this is the campus for you. Oh and perfect for your kids too because they have a pre-school program. The caretakers also take them out around campus for a nice stroll. Pray that they don't receive medical problems due to second hand smoking. Make HCC a smoke free campusNissi Myles Taylan
The teacher who teaches ESL23-24 is very rude. She like using threatening words to respond the student , if you want to ask or figure out any further issues of your homework or tests. She looks kind at first , but when you get her class , then you will find her teaching method is very arbitrary. I never met this kind of teacher before.Wei Yu

Graduated here, since then they have stuffed up numerous transcript orders and diploma replacements. They sent me someone else's diploma and refuse to refund or send me a new one, they say I need to pay for a new one!! This is after not being able to order one for 3 months because they were "looking for a new vendor". My transcripts have been sent to random people in other states who were kind enough to forward them to me, but what the heck?! What a joke of an institution.dean cobler
Very nice campus. However, most of the uh help, wearing the pink shirts are constantly driving at excessive speeds, ilegaly parking while blocking narrow sketchy exits (ie. Music ctr.). While waiting to pick up my children, I've noticed at least 7 different cars, on various occasions, driven by the very same uh helpers(pink tshirts), speeding in the parking lot, disregarding all rules, in a disrespectful and ignorant manner.D S

Like many others I value my education and take pride in becoming a first generation college graduate in my family. I wanted to study Psychology at the doctoral level and so when I was accepted into a competitors program, I was jumping for the moon. I completed all of my courses and sailed through my residencies ( 3 in total), and then they lost their accreditation and recommended that we ( the students) complete our studies elsewhere. This is when I stepped back and took a very hard look at what schools are offering. I sat out for over 8 years and actually became quite discouraged. Then I found AIU, I have to tell you first what attracted me to the school, not just the price but the curriculum is owned by you the student. You design what you need to graduate and move forward with your life. I started this month and I am already in phase 2 of 4, and headed to the construction of my thesis. AIU understands that you should have guidance with your course of study, but that ultimately, you are in control of what you want to learn and study. There is no repeat of what I have already learned and went into debt for. THIS IS A REAL SCHOOL. I immediately qualified for a scholarship reducing my overall tuition by 4k. It was automatically applied, the total amount for my PhD in Psychology is only $6900.00. They work with you to help you afford your monthly payment, this is NOT a scam or a diploma mill, you have to do to the work, but they are there to help you do it. My tutor is Kinmberly and she is awesome, knowledgeable, attentive and accessible. I was skeptical like anyone else would be, a Phd for under 100k.??? Yea right… but you know what this school is a legitimate higher learning institute. I cannot believe how incredible everyone has been , from admissions to class tutoring to school resources, and get this the online library is no different than USC, UCLA, OSU and the list goes on. Believe me, I have been at this thing for awhile, I tried traditional schools and got burned, I earned my law degree ten years ago and now I am going to lecture and publish in the general field of Psychology and none of this would be possible without AIU. Even though you work at your own pace, you are not alone. This is real, and its really happening for my family and I. I am so grateful that AIU gave me credit for my classes that I took at the traditional school, it shaved over a year off of my studies. They even offer free courses to the public with no obligation . Do yourself a favor, go to the website and see for yourself, I am a real student at AIU, and this is a real review, and I am so happy that AIU is here for students who want to learn without all of the red tape and confusion. Its an education that you can utilize to help mankind and I am so happy that they are here to teach their students how to do that. I am on my way, and you should be too. Thanks for reading this, I know its long, but I wanted to be thorough! Thank you AIU for helping me help my family and the community. #AIUmakeslearningeasyandaffordable #Imonmyway #ThankyouAIUChristine Richardson
I am currently a PhD student in this university. I study organizational behaviour. The university's self learning program is one of most dynamic learning opportunities that can help students develop skills and abilities to improve on their area of competencies. I have earned a bachelor and a masters from a conventional or traditional university in my country Nigeria, so I know the difference. I have had to interact with the tutors at AIU and found that what is going at AIU is not a fluke. The online programs and phases are difficult but a dedicated and hard working student will be able to overcome. The fees are student friendly such that any student will be able e to meet the terms. The academic programmes are also of international standard. Although in Nigeria online degrees are not accepted for jobs but I have found a substantial number of Nigerians employed after taking their degrees from AIU. Your choice is a matter of personal decision. I came to know about AIU through the Facebook platform and when contacted the school was quite impressed how they immediately helped me to enrol. This is what I want to know. Why AIU has not registered as an ACCREDITED UNIVERSITY by the University Grant Commission in USA. in another word, Why , NOT GIVEN accreditation for Atlantic International University AIU since 1998. When there is NO accreditation for a approved university in the world, there is a BIG problem? When we faced for an interviews, authorities first see the World University Calendar and the Accredited Universities list. When there is Not papering the particular name of the UNIVERSITY , no further discussions or proceeding's on the interview. Solve this problem. Give me a clear answer. Please give me a professional reply. Until I am in little bit suspicion. Please SOLVE the Problem?Hemasiri Kuruppu

I cannot express how grateful I am to have found this veterinary hospital. My cats have been sneezing for over ten years and not a single veterinarian has ever offered to do diagnostic testing, even when I asked them if we could. Max and Patches were my grandfather's cats, and when he passed away, I took them in. Ten years my grandfather and I tried to help them, ten years we took them in to vet after vet looking for an answer to the sneezing and coughing. We've spent thousands and thousands of dollars looking for an answer, every vet has simply written a prescription for what they thought it might be, no testing, no definitive answer, just a guess. But now I know how to help them. Dr. Bert Lau does things the right way. He doesn't give you a diagnosis without knowing all the information, he does diagnostic testing and finds answers. I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to discover after TEN YEARS that my babies have been suffering for no reason other than the ineptitude of other veterinarians. Diagnostics can be expensive, but if you want things done the right way, this is the place. I am so thankful I found Dr. Lau and this veterinary office. I am so happy my kitties will finally be able to breathe easily for the first time in their lives. Thank you Dr. Lau and everyone at Island Veterinary Care, I truly cannot recommend this place enough.Isabella Dixon
As an ER nurse, I was truly impressed with the quality healthcare Dr. Lau and his staff offer, and felt comfortable and assured that my dog was in good hands. Dr. Lau and his staff found time to squeeze me in without an appointment when my dog Mikey was sick and throwing up blood. They did a thorough exam to rule out any life threatening conditions. After examination, Dr. Lau was asking about the area I live and asked if there was any rat poison around. When I got home I checked around my apartment building, sure enough I found rat poison under our apartment staircase. Luckily Dr. Lau started him on the antidote medication as precautionary. You can really tell that Dr. Lau and his staff truly care about the animals that they care for and followed up with me to check on Mikey frequently. They even followed up on a holiday when the office was closed. I would definitely recommend them!Kara Pedersen
My chihuahua mix suddenly was paralyzed from IVDD and I was told by the emergency vet that he would most likely never walk again and surgery to try fix the disc would be upwards of $9,000. I was referred to Dr. Lau who ultimately gave my dog another chance with conservative treatment. Within a short amount of time, my dog went from being unable to feel in his hind legs to now running and moving around freely. His work and dedication to his clients are unmatched, and I couldn’t be more grateful to all that he’s done for our family! It is truly a miracle.Jasrael Feeney

I have taken my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel to Dr. Nakamura at King Street Pet Hospital since she had her first series of puppy shots 10 years ago. Dr. Nakamura has helped us through regular check ups, teeth cleaning, dog bites (from another dog), ear infections, and most recently liver and heart issues. Dr. Nakamura is honest and knowledgeable in all situations. Plus she always has a way of making you feel that your baby is #1. Whenever I called the office Dr. Nakamura (or another doctor) would always call back the same day to address my concern. On this occasion Dr. Nakamura was on her regular day off and Dr. Goo called me in her stead. My dog was in distress and I didn't know it but Dr. Goo and her staff, Sheri, did. Following their strong recommendation to take my dog to the emergency at VCA Family Pearl City (see related 5-star review of the VCA) was the best decision I made for my girl. Sadly, she passed the next day but not after a team of wonderful doctors and staff at VCA and King Street Pet Hospital doing everything they could to help her. Upon learning about my dog's passing both Dr. Nakamura and Dr. Goo (mind you she is not even my dog's regular doctor) called to express their condolences and find out what happened. Just by talking with both of them I could tell how important their furry patients are to them. Dr. Nakamura's care and concern was almost palpable. There is also a male in their front staff who I've seen and talked to over the years who is so understanding, efficient, and knowledgeable all at the same time. I could not have asked for better care for my dog over the past 10 years. Thank you King Street Pet Hospital.Mari Kishimoto
This vet is absolutely amazing! I've never once been disappointed with the care that my cat has received here, and will continue to keep at as my normal vet as long as I am here. On top of just great normal care, they were so accommodating when I needed to take my baby in for an emergency – as a cat, him not eating is something to be taken seriously. I called on a whim thinking they may be too busy, but they ended up getting me set up for an appointment not even an hour later. While they do charge a little bit extra on the examination fee for a same-day appointment like this, the $72 is way cheaper than any emergency vet department, so I do not mind paying it. The staff is all so wonderful, and my vet is just amazing. Clearly knows her stuff, and is very caring and gentle. Love this vet! I'm sad I can't take them with me if I ever leave.cecil cb
Vet techs are attentive and kind. I brought my cat in (twice, one in 2019 and one in 2022) when I felt a strange lump on her body; apparently they get into fights with stray cats and bite. The appointments were very full even 2 years after the pandemic started, soonest appointment was 2 weeks away. After arriving in your vehicle, you're supposed to call the clinic to check in. An unlisted number will call back and ask questions about your pet. Up to two people can accompany the animal inside to see the doctor, any others need to stay outaide but can watch through a small window into the exam room. Update for 2022: Dr. Choi has left the company.̃*•.кingof匚yberia.•* ́
