I am saddened to read the negative reviews posted here about Houghton College, as I don't think they reflect the reality our family has experienced. My son is in his third academic year there and our family wholeheartedly gives Houghton a five-star rating. The small class size is a real plus, in that the professors are able to give personal attention to each and every student. We have found the staff to be highly professional and supportive in all regards. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this college to anyone seeking a Christ-centered education for their children or for themselves.Dave Belt

Graduated in 2003, loved everything about Houghton. Please consider graduates' reviews of this school, most of the negative reviews are from people who did not attend. I don't know current enrollment stats, but it would be a good idea to call the office with questions before writing this off. I do agree that the town isn't much to behold, but this is NOT the place to go if you want a bustling metropolis nearby. We stayed at Houghton for a week of camp with our church's Student Ministry. The staff was incredible there right down to the dorm cleaning staff, who would take the time to stop and have a meaningful conversation with you. Some of the food was incredible. Rollins is truly such a special place! There are plenty of opportunities to get involved on campus and become a leader, engage in research and service opportunities, and work on campus. This summer I took my teenage son to the Lake Land College and just for the architecture alone it is worth the visit. We were disappointed that the main room was closed off due to repairs but that was certainly not the fault of the library. Each room we visited was a unique gem. My only criticism is that the volunteers in the front hallway were more interested in talking among themselves than in answering any of our questions. Indeed they almost seemed annoyed when I finally interrupted them after standing by the volunteer information table for several minutes without any one of them addressing us, despite no one else being there.Elnora Foston

Prepared me well to transfer to EIU. These are a few things that irked me – their int’l office director back then was amazing, but the current one messed up my sibling’s paperwork by giving inaccurate information. An excellent small community college, but not really good with internships necessarily though. If you’re looking for a great and affordable education, this is for you. Today, I feel compelled to write about the wonderful place where I work, Cape Fear Community College. This is my third year here and quite honestly, it is by far, my favorite place of employment. The grounds at CFCC are beautiful, the students are fantastic, and the culture is what makes it truly special. I don’t even know where to begin with this place. First of all if you are considering going here you need to run in the opposite direction. I moved here from out of state and gave this institution 10,000 of my dollars just to be disrespected and ridiculed by the faculty and staff. My high school teachers were more competent and respectful than anyone here. The school is run down and smells like mildew other than the main building they use to advertise this place. I did not learn one single thing the entire time I was here and let it be known that I am now graduating to be a medical professional so I was not the problem. Be careful if using MYCAA to pay for classes, regardless of whether or not you submit on your end on time. If the school doesn't submit it on time on their end (as in my case) you'll receive a dozen and a half reminders that tuition is due (the school doesn't handle MYCAA and the funds get sent to the student to then pass on to the school and if it's not paid by "x" date at "x" time classes are dropped. Had I of known this, I would have applied for schooling elsewhere. Waste of time. Not everyone wants or needs to use FAFSA………Courtney Myszewski

A wonderful place to go to school and a great place to visit. The students here are almost all very kind, sweet, accepting, supportive, and open-minded people. They are slightly diverse in terms of demographics, and quite diverse in terms of personality. The college offers a diverse range of majors and excellent classes. It has particularly great music, performing arts, nursing, and physical therapy programs. Class sizes are not very big, with very few lecture hall-style class settings. The teachers are mostly very kind and care greatly about what they do. Tuition is very high, but depending on your program, it can be worth it. The campus is beautiful! It is full of nature and a mix of collegiate gothic and more modern buildings. It is small and dense, but not crowded. It is also very safe. Risk of theft or damage to property is very rare, but the latter is more common among lowerclassmen. There is so much history to uncover. It is located close to good places to shop, eat, and visit in Pittsford. The academic buildings are clean, well-lit, and mostly fitted with modern amenities. Bathrooms in some buildings are very clean, some are quite unclean. The lowerclassmen residence halls can be somewhat loud, are typically slightly unclean, but have many events to attend run by the RAs. There are dorm or suite-style living choices. Upperclassmen residence halls are mostly clean, almost always very quiet, and have dorm, suite, apartment-style living choices. Living arrangements are for full-time students only. The food in the Dining Commons is pretty good. It has a pretty diverse menu with some options tasting decent, some great. Other food locations around campus have a somewhat limited menu range and the food is mediocre. Some alternative dietary accommodations are met, and more will be made if requested. Facilities staff are mostly not friendly, but not unkind. The staff in the Dining Commons are mostly pretty friendly and very kind.Graeme Lechner

I received counseling services from John Aceto at Nazareth College. This man is sexually inappropriate! I met him to work on my shyness, and for the entire session he tried diagnosing me other issues. He told me I drink coffee everyday because I have "Caffeine-use disorder." That rediculous disorder is not even in the DSM! Then he diagnosed my father with Bipolar disorder, based on my childhood memories. He never even met my father in person. After the session, he began rubbing his hand on my back, telling me that he wanted to "help me out." I felt violated. BEWARE of this man! He will rope you in for other issues and try to take advantage of you. I expressed my concerns to the director, Megan Clifford Papponetti, and she black mailed me. She threatened to have me suspended, and that is exactly what she attempted. She shared my confidential assessments and sessions with my Ex and even to my professors. My professors were concerned about me, saying that they received a strange call from Megan "bragging about the information she found out about me." That was PERSONAL information that I trusted with the Nazareth College Counseling Center, and I was humiliated. Nazareth College, you should be ashamed of yourself! I considered D'Youville College for my Post 9/11 GI Bill graduate program. I ultimately picked another school which offered the degree I was interested in. By happenstance I spent my last semester of my studies at D'Youville. Wow, what a difference. While other schools pay lip service to Veterans, D'Youville is putting their money where their mouth is. At other schools, despite what they say, Vets are simply another number, a commodity they are anxious to attract for the easy money, but once enrolled, these Vets are quickly forgotten. A single staff member will be assigned Vets as a collateral duty, one of many hats they wear. D'Youville on the other hand has a staff of dedicated personnel whose sole job is to take care of Vets. Instead of being referred elsewhere, D'Youville gets resolution to any and all issues that their Vets encounter. They know how to successfully navigate the Veteran's Administration, as well as New York State benefits (e.g. Veterans Tuition Awards). Not only do they educate **ALLL** Vets (not simply limited the Gold Ribbon qualified Vets), but they also offer generous incentives for Vets' spouses and dependents. D'Youville offers more and more new degrees and programs every year. If you are not seriously looking at D'Youville for you education, you are wrong.Jerry Tidd

I been working in a community health program with the School of Nursing and Pharmarcy. My interaction wtih both students and professors has been excellent, and have surpass my expectations in wiliness to serve the community. About the D'Youville social life, this is a small college and their social life is during lunch time in Spot Coffee, which is located in the basement. In short, the DYC is good for those who want to focus in their studies and have theirs social life somewhere else because you will not find crazy frat parties in here.alice campbell

College offers a great PA program, but beware that contacting the admission office and tracking different components of your application is painstakingly uncoordinated. Much of the SCSU campus is beautiful & worth a long walk or bike ride. Lovely historic old buildings & newer buildings show fascinating architecture. Plenty of gardens, benches & green space. Perfect for a decent environment on campus. Nice planning by SCSU leadership! Congrats! Unfortunately…. the city of St Cloud didn't have the same insight & planning skills. Some of the surrounding college neighborhood buildings are owned by cheap, incompetent, opportunistic landlords. Many rental houses & apartments are Ugly eye sores….and this reflects poorly on SCSU!! WHY THE HELL did the city of St Cloud not have stronger building, housing rental codes & regulations? For many years the City Council & other city leadership groups failed SCSU. The nearby older historic homes (on lovely tree lined streets) were once very nice….yet were allowed to seriously deteriorate & become a drawback. This has hurt SCSU regarding new perspective students, home buyers, businesses & visitors. Shameful….for years there must have been Very poor, weak, inept leadership in the city of St Cloud!!! I realize there have been some recent efforts to turn this neighborhood mess around. But the pitiful planning & damage was done over many decades….and the city is facing a very uphill battle. And sadly… SCSU has been left holding the proverbial bag.Richard Quigley

St Clous State isn’t too bad if you don’t care or aren’t paying out of your own pocket. The quality education is low. Lack of resource for students to succeed. Decent professors. Cleaning staffs and financial administration are great. Lacks student diversity and safety. Dorm security needs to be more secure, especially in Sherburn Hall. SCSU get most of their money from international Napel students. Student population is 80% Napel. Highly discourage anyone to attend. First semester/year, you’ll wish you never wasted time and money on SCSU. That’s why their graduation rate is so low (below 50%), students transfer out after attending the first semester/year. Academic Advisors are burnt out, and 1 per program with over 100 students. They don’t know what they’re talking about most of the time. Double check your transfer credits with the head professor of the actual department.Asia Love

Homecoming was fun but not very many participants. The school originally pushing it into October didn't help and then canceling it all together for a large part of a decade. The alumni and students kind of either don't remember or are apathetic towards the concept. The city and the school need to work together with the alumni, student organizations (especially the greeks who have a vested interest in their alumni) to make people interested in coming back every year. Downtown was dead too. School and City should benefit from each other.Jim F.

On Memorial Day 2018 past midnight, our dog’s stomach flipped. Cornell was the only place that was open and had a surgeon on call. We drove 2 hours after getting him stabilized in Syracuse for the trip. They were waiting at the doors upon his arrival to rush him into surgery, facing a 50% chance of survival. We are eternally grateful to the surgeons, doctors and techs who saved our boy’s life. Thank you so much.Jacqueline Torres

I've always been happy with their competence and professionalism, and I know my pets are getting the best care possible. I understand that Vet care is expensive but I feel that this place is more focused on the mighty dollar than actually caring about animals. They take advantage of desperate, emotional pet owners and people are left with having to euthanize pers that could be saved because they don’t have access to thousands of dollars immediately. How does a college have a faculty that can't answer any questions pertaining to activities that go on campus. there are 4 kids to a room and marijuana smoke fills the air. You complain to faculty that you were not around anytime that this is found by staff with proof of your where abouts each and everytime. I don't smoke at all. I have a scholarship to go to this school and they kicked me out due to no one coming clean about the marijuana. I don't think I was treated fairly. I don't go here nor do I know anyone who does. We visited for a wrestling tournament. The gym they used was utterly disgusting. Dirty as hell. Garbage was shoved everywhere. This college misguides students frequently. Be careful what your advisor tells you and they tend to swap your own major without your permission. I’ve lost thousands of dollars due to the unmanaged people that work here. This place has a low tuition cost for a reason. Loved my college experience at UB. Quality academics, quality student life. There is great diversity which will help you with life after college. Food is good, not great, but what do you expect when you are cooking for the masses. Wish people cared more about the athletics. They have made north campus and the apartments surrounding it nice. The alumni base from what I can tell is Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, NYC, Chicago and DC. I also love the city of Buffalo. Downtown offers a lot to do for a mid size city.Joe Segrue

If I could give this institution zero stars I would be. Don’t waste your time with GCC, they will waste your time and money without any doubt in my mind. Don’t fall for the “it’s a beautiful campus” thing, because for example the nursing program is going downhill according to some alumni I’ve spoken to, who are now clinical instructors. I would never even refer to this place as a school let alone a college. Being a transfer student, I have experience with other more legitimate schools and universities. Professors will tell you they are there to help, but seem somehow to make themselves as inaccessible as possible. I wouldn’t recommend their nursing program to anyone.Joe Cooper

I am an alumni from this school and my two years spent were memorable and enjoyable. I am originally from NYC so going upstate for school was a drastic change in environment and people. The staff are very friendly and helpful and made me feel comfortable in the change of environment. My advisor helped me choose my classes and helped me through personal and educational challenges I faced which helped me alot. The food does need some change but it was not the worst thing. I enjoyed dorm life at SUNY Delhi but recommend they install air conditioners as it tends to be warm in summer and spring time. I mostly enjoyed the classes, my professors were very knowledgable in their fields and were very helpful in making sure I understood every topic. The resources on campus are worth going to because they do help. I made many friends and connections through joining clubs and going to events. I was even President and co-founder of a two different clubs. Definitely recommend this school if you are looking to get a good education and experience dorm life away from the city. My daughter just finished her first semester. Overall, I would not recommend this school. While the campus is beautiful, the accommodations are extremely unsanitary. The drug culture is highly prevalent and it doesn't appear as if it's being monitored. The sororities still practice hazing for membership. After they use and abuse their pledges, they accept little to no new members. Unfortunately, my daughter had a professor who was clearly unapologetically rascist. I've never, in all my schooling, had a professor grade every paper with a personal insult attached. I highly regret enrolling my daughter in this school. From what I've witnessed, the majority of the academics (with exception of that professor) are decent. At best I would suggest if your not in the veterinary program or in the private pay dorm (Catskill) it's best to live off campus.joangelica 80

I went on a tour today for this school and from everything that I heard they have everything I needed in a school. They allow freshman’s to have cars on campus for a $168 fee (that covers the whole year). They allow you to stay on campus all four years of college and have specific dorms for upperclassman like juniors and seniors. The school and view is beautiful. The school it’s self seems to have a great support system. Everyone seemed friendly and welcoming. The food tasted good from my experience. I recommend this school for anyone in New York looking to go away from home but still be in their home state. I enjoyed my tour here and hope to enjoy my four years here.Bryanna Jordan

I obtained a computer degree in 2014 from Canton. This institution did not turn me into a Liberal zombie. That said, the number one thing you must keep in mind is cost, nearly all colleges in America have inflated costs, do you want to be thousands in debt with a bad job after? Consider vocational training & just working after high school. Choose wisely & do your research. Nearly everything I learned at Canton I fast track learned again in military tech school for a cyber job. I wasn't required to pay for it or take a mandatory ENG 101 course. Lastly, upstate NY is a boring, desolate, cold, Rust Belt like area for anyone considering studying there who is not from such a place. I do miss the friendships & had great experiences in Canton.̈

This school was nothing but a nightmare for me. The Financial aid office screwed me up. I did a whole semester, fine and great. Come second semester I’m in class for over a month and they pull me out in the hall to tell me something is wrong with everything and that I shouldn’t have been coming to class and everything I did for the month didn’t count. Took me years to pay back that loan for absolutely NOTHING. Every time I needed some help, they’d make me an appointment, and I’d trek through snow a mile away just for them to cancel on me. As an adult already working full-time SUNY Caton was one of the only universities which made obtaining a degree possible. They offer online degrees in bachelors, associates, and certificate degrees. There is vast yet concise range of academic majors which are applicable in the current job market. When I first started signing up for my MBA I advised them that I had just graduated with my bachelors degree. My goal was to start August 5, and I submitted all my necessary paperwork and cooperated as such. When it got to my transcripts I was advised I could not start because the conferral date was not on the transcripts. The enrollment specialist told me to reach out to my previous school. I did and it was a hassle. I called the enrollment specialist at Capella to advise of the updates to only find out that Capella’s registrar team had already been in contact with my school. I wanted to start on the 5th as it was very discouraging to go through the process to be turned away at last minute. 1). Total waist of time as I took time out of my day to complete orientation and do what they advised of me. 2) I asked to speak with a supervisor who was very vague and could not provide the information needed. 3) I again called Capella to try and escalate the situation, but the manager never returned my call. I feel as if they had me sign up because they were the ones to get paid for each student to enroll and failed to educate me properly in the beginning, which is very misleading and discouraging. Since no one wanted to comply and take responsibility I will be escalating this to the BBB as this is not my fault and I should had been able to start in the promised time given and should have been educated properly.Tearra McCray

The worst university ever! They made me waste my time and my money from the first day, every time I communicated with them each counselor told me something different, and more than a month passed and I did not have an accurate answer on the status of my application, after a month a person from human resources let me know that I had to do my transcripts equivalency again on another website because the one I had already sent twice to them waiting for they review it (and that they themselves told me it was okay to do it that way) was not valid for them to take me into account to start the course this past October. 1- First time the transcripts were not encrypted, so they asked my to ask the institution they send it again but encrypted this time and I did it and sent it again. And after that they let me know that didn’t work for them. So I wasted my time, my money and above all the opportunity to start on the desired date. A very bad job of the staff. Very bad communication with the students who want to start there, and they also contradict each other. They all say different things and waste your time. They are also very rude. I hope that no one has this bad experience, nor misses the opportunity to start the course on the date they planned, and due to the horrible work of other people you lose opportunities in life.Claudia Espinosa

From the beginning of my Master's level school search, Capella stood out. I had a great recommendation from a friend already, but in researching complete online programs to work with my schedule, Capella checked all of the boxes I needed. I had a wonderful experience with my admissions counselor and continue to have great interactions with all communication. I am happy with all faculty thus far and feel that I am learning exactly what I need for my future as a school counselor. The course load is what I expected it to be and the time I spend on classwork is time well spent. I feel very confident that I will be prepared to enter the field of school counseling when I graduate. The very first thing Capella does once you are enrolled is to start you in a class to help navigate your program and get you familiar with the online format. This helped immensely and calmed my nerves for entering into a graduate program online. I feel very well cared for and have not had a negative experience yet! Hamilton has a GORGEOUS campus. It was the upstate NY college I considered the MOST strongly applying to, apart from Bard, Sarah Lawrence and Skidmore. Hamilton also does have exceptional academics (I was attracted to the fact that although it had a traditional way of grading, the school's curriculum is interdisciplinary) and students can self-design their own majors. The primary issue I had was that the campus was a bit too isolated. Hamilton was also a bit "preppy" for my taste, but I felt like campus life was pretty inclusive of everyone, which is nice. The Hamilton residence halls were REALLY nice, and the classes I attended were engaging and conducted in "conference" or seminar style. which I loved (I tend to learn more from intellectual conversations between a professor and the other students, rather than a "straight" lecture). However, I was dead-set on college in New England though, so ultimately, that's where I went. The Five College consortium in western Massachusetts was where I ultimately attended college (at Hampshire College) — it was the best "fit" for me. Hamilton would have been ok I think, but too isolated, and I felt the Amherst/Northampton area had more to offer me than the Clinton area did. I could have handled attending Hamilton, but I think Hampshire was the better "fit" college for me. That said, I used to be a downhill ski racer in the New England Masters League, and Hamilton was near a LOT of good upstate NY skiing, and Hamilton does have a ski club (if I'm remembering correctly), but not a Downhill Racing Team per se.Ben Schaeffer

I frequently visit the Hamilton College campus and its surrounding trail system for vigorous walking exercise with my wife. The Root Glen trail is quite well known in the area and is especially beautiful in the summer. There is also a rather extensive and well marked and maintained trail system for hiking, biking and cross-country skiing in winter. Most of the trail is wooded providing cooling shade for summer morning walks. The campus itself is stunning. The grounds and buildings are beautifully maintained, even though there are no students present during the pandemic. The mix of beautiful old stone and brick buildings and more modern architecture make a campus stroll among the tall, mature trees almost as enjoyable as the wooded trails. Hamilton College is well known and respected scholastically but also deserves high marks for its beautiful campus and surroundings.Bob Joy

Got my Master in Public Administration from Wagner Graduate School of Public Affairs in 1985. Not an ounce of financial aid – It was my one-hundred percent self-paid onus. Even with full-time work for the duration of full-time study, it was easier than where my Bachelor of Arts was from: Binghamton. Long story short, the Public and nonprofits sector didn't want me; but, made some successes in the Corporate world in Banking, Insurance, followed by Investment Brokerage. My point ? Straight As but with horrible problems. The issues started before I even transferred to the CDL program. When I was a general student my adviser (at that time) told me that Independent studies were only available on site; not true. When I asked her why I couldn't take all my classes online, as advertised, she said that there was no fully online option; not true. I transferred to CDL because the woman at the FRONT DESK apparently knew more than my adviser. But once in CDL, I realized I was essentially on my own, and under the thumb of a lot of incompetent people. CDL is extremely unorganized and separate from the rest of the school. You have to be under an adviser to do anything, and if they're incompetent it can totally derail getting a degree plan approved. The process ruined my ambition for school for a whole year and a half afterward. School is my escape, and I lost that. When I read the guidelines/requirements for the degree plan, I knew exactly what needed to be done. When I asked for clarification my adviser mislead me on every aspect of the process. I wrote (1) 70 page plan, (1) 50 page plan, then (1) 32 page plan– NONE of which were even read. The ONLY PERSON responsible for putting committees together for approving plans was the rudest person I have ever spoken to via email. He also could not effectively explain why my degree titles were not appropriate until the final plan. This process made me insane because I knew what was necessary in the first place– a basic, straight forward, 5-7 page plan….something cohesive and to the point. I literally had to educate them on what "Interdisciplinary" even meant. Everyone kept forcing "Multidisciplinary" studies on me– which is something different. I'm still surprised at how many problems I had to deal with. They wanted to impose on me what they knew how to do…. They're not used to students actually wanting to be scholars. My original plan was degraded by my adviser (and changed without consent!! What she changed were vital points, and she even submitted it with errors). She told me incorrect information, which made me feel defeated, and she suggested irrelevant things. By the end I felt extremely manipulated. After almost 2 years she finally admitted that she didn't know what she was doing and reached out to other advisers experienced in "Interdisciplinary Studies." But by that point I had already talked to 7 people for help, which went no where. I had already spent 2 years trying to get out from under her ignorance– My morale was already ruined. But the advisers she reached out to were supportive of my plans. They were excited about them– too bad my adviser refused to share their names!!! Extremely frustrating system, very bad organizational issues. Financial aid also "forgot" to submit my application for scholarships when I was nominated– Financial aid also told me that someone denominated me. They said that they were looking at a letter stating that they did not recommend me– then upon closer inspection, financial aid said that there was never a letter, they had no idea who said it, and that it's not even possible. Furthermore, teachers cannot nominate you! Only your adviser can nominate. This to me is ridiculous, as my professors actually see/read my work. While, I've received honors scholarships since then, it's still frustrating that no one knows what they're even doing. By the time I got to the SINGLE PERSON who could help me the damage had already been done, and I had already dealt with it all by myself, and never got the degree title I even wanted– which would have been acceptable per FAFSA/Federal regulations. The teachers however are fantastic and the literature from the courses I've taken have taken root in my heart. I absolutely adore the pieces of literature relevant to course material in my field (Cultural Studies: Philosophy, History, Literature), and independent studies are awesome. That's the only reason I can still recommend this school. I have also met 2 other students who have had asinine issues like my own, some worse.Stephanie Michelle (JOY)

This review is based on my experience of one online class this college provided, which I was able to transfer credits from. The online class I took was principles of finance (BME), cost me about $1300. My professor was J. Visconti. I had to retake this course b/c i failed it at my main university. I learn more retaking this course than I did my first try. Several reasons: I had a Great professor. We used excel (better tool and relevant) instead of a old school financial calculator. Instructor's commentary of the lessons were impeccably relevant and sound) I was able to further understand the connections between real world usage of the learned knowledge. In my case, YES, online version of this course is much better than class room style. Since, I have taken both styles of classes, I would recommend taking "principles of finance" online, preferably with J. Visconti. If business is not your major, i would still recommend this class for personal knowledge. For me, this class was required as an elective for my major and I am glad I took it online.Richard Lim

Overall if you’re an adult with limited time this is the college for you. There are better colleges out there but this isn’t the worst either. It is an accredited Suny school which I think holds more value over some of these diploma mills. The college isn’t supportive and the mentors from my experience do absolutely nothing. In their defense though it can be quite hard because they are full-time professors as well. The problem is that they require a mentor to hold a doctorate degree which is absolutely ridiculous. You don’t need one to help students plan their degrees. There are many professional and outstanding people who work here and there are many that are the opposite.Kelly Shaw-Hewes

I was very happy with Kris Jackson she did my tour and always answered me when I had any questions. I started in January of 2021 still in the mist of COVID. I had a good experience, be prepared NOTHING IS EASY you have to study study study. I feel like most of the teachers there really do want to see you do good and will genuinely try to do a lot to help. I struggled a lot but there is always tutoring and someone willing to help. With every school comes drama that has nothing to do with school but just to know. There’s a lot of commitment when signing up so just know what your getting yourself into. The school teaches you a lot you need to know and has plenty of resources if you need more help. Only thing I wish I knew was more things that we could’ve been taught for the “real world” like a lot we get taught we need to know but there is some small things we have to know like trying to find veins by ourself or little tricks other than that I had a good experience. I would recommend if you are able to commit to a long hard program it is very rewarding in the long end.Emily Pham

As a former graduate of VTI and soon to be practicing veterinarian medicine for about a year I cannot thank the staff and mentors enough for caring and teaching me the skills that I use in everyday practice. They were always so thoughtful and there when you needed a helping hand wether it was something as big as tutoring before all classes started or as small as just small words of advice to keep students going through the program. The classes are geared towards exactly what you need to know and all the teachers seem to be very knowledgeable in which subjects they teach. If you are as lucky as me throughout the program you may even adopt your own 4 legged bestfriend you met during kennel duty!! 🙂Haidyn Craig

The Vet Tech Institute is an incredible school that teaches the reality of the animal career field. It teaches self discipline, personal instinct to trust, and an incredible amount of respect for the workers in any animal field. The staff are so incredibly patient and truly show their passion to teach and to love the animals we work with on an everyday basis. Being able to work with animals everyday in class only better creates a self confidence that has to be grown. I’ve been doing Penn Foster online schooling for almost a whole year now. I’ve found this online experience a great one. They are very helpful in all ways possible. I’ve called a few time and their stuff is helpful and kind. They help so much with the questions you ask and reassurance you need. You go at your own past, fast, or as slow as you want. I’ve struggled so much in the past with schools , I’ve been to over 6+ schools and I started at the point have an IEP/ taking classes for it. Penn Foster online High School, has helped me understand so much and I love how I can learn at my own past. The price is also reasonable. I can stay up till 3AM and do my work. I’ve finished a class in a whole week at times. I’d stay really hard. Not only that Penn Foster always keeps you up to date on thing that are happening with your account. I am the mother of two students at Penn Foster who just graduated. They are 15 and 17 years of age. They were placed in Penn Foster due to being bullied by teachers at their local school. My oldest enrolled with 0 credits in Oct of 2019 and my youngest enrolled with 7 credits in June of 2020. My oldest graduated Dec 07, 2020 and my youngest graduated Dec 23. 2020. They loved that they could go as slow or as fast as the wanted. They loved not having a schedule or having to have any interactions with teachers. Their overall experience was great. I have one more student, my 16 year old step-daughter working on it now. She's 41% done. We also have a 14 year old who will be enrolling once done with 8th grade. I attended RUSVM for 4 months and realized during that time I was making a huge financial mistake. Although my dream had always been to become a veterinarian, nobody, and I mean NOBODY should come out of school with $300,000++ in debt with 16% (or more!) interest rates. It seems like theft to me which is the main reason I chose to withdraw. So many of the students I talked to disregarded this fact but it was too big of a life changing factor for me to ignore. If veterinarians made half the amount human doctors do this might be something they could pay off in their lifetime. With a starting salary as low as $30,000/year in some states, the debt to income ratio is completely skewed. I’m not trying to discount the profession, it’s a great career in many ways but it just was not worth it for me. I encourage those interested in becoming a veterinarian to really do their homework first. I’m paying off a massive loan I accrued in just 4 months and have nothing to show for it. I’d suggest looking at other options as Ross is painfully expensive. I will say that the professors are wonderful though. They all seem very passionate about the subject they teach and living on an island in the Caribbean was an amazing experience.Annika Flink

Every school is what you make of it. If you’re looking for large classes. Overwhelmed professors due to large sizes and inconsiderate students here’s the place for you. They don’t care about your success. It’s clear because they keep increasing class sizes but failing so many. It would be nice if they cared more about the livelihood of students rather than increasing class sizes where they have to bring in extra tables to the lecture hall. Not to mention the one library on campus is tiny and seats are always taken. Not enough accommodations for students!! Especially being that these student are far from home ross needs to be a more inviting and learning conducive facilityPaige B
