20 Best Surgical Tech Programs In Portland, OR (2022 Updated)

I called WCC and attended for 3 semesters. Failed my first class because I didn’t know the difference between on- line and virtual classes. Financial aid denied me and reconnect was going to force me to take 2 classes or four total in a year. I have ADHD and bipolar two disorder. It was either the welcome center or the student advisor office that told me that ADHD was just a medical diagnosis and not a disability. I am a mom of three and a grandmother of a toddler.I have been out of school for over 15 years. I am by no means stupid or unteachable. I am great at what I do and am raising well adjusted tiny humans with an awareness of mental health treatment and general accountability. The schools online program send a message that it is doable for everybody and tailored to fit one’s schedule. I have done drop in tutoring I have called the helpdesk I’ve called every number possible for help. I have spoken to financial aid, I have spoken to success coaches, as well as a counselor affiliated with the schoolMy GPA drop below 2.0 and now I can’t afford to go to school. I was in the paralegal program and I can by no means, not understand the material but I struggle so much with the homework and the amount of things you’re expected to know upon entry into this community college. This school has destroyed hope for my future and nobody seems to know what anyone else is doing. The only reason I passed one class is because Professor Lindsey took the time to show me the things I needed to know. Two other instructors, Refused to even go over the homework in virtual classes. They think because it’s in the schedule they shouldn’t have to talk about it in class. Instructors should talk about anything that makes work unclear to students!! Refusal to go over homework by instructors is the biggest thing that caused my struggle in this institution. If you are a mom or a person with day-to-day responsibilities… think twice and get as much info as you can before entering the school. WCC is not tailored for the working person or the single mother. Apologies for any triteness. Democracy runs well w an educated populace. A few hallmarks of a Democracy are; Quality of Life, Education, Freedoms and the Civil Rights of All. Universal Healthcare, Access, Education and Trades training, why not? If we are able to pay one man millions of dollars, then why not provide for millions of people? How often does corporate welfare, “trickle down” and subsidies to huge corporations translate into savings? Educated, critically thinking humans are one goal and Community Colleges are gateways and answers to improving and increasing Democratic values. How naive, ignorant and misinformed I was as a young adult, to snub and look down on Community Colleges. As the decades passed and the Grace of wisdom was given to me, I began to realize the value of CC. Mistakes made can be the process in which we grow and improve, if those mistakes don’t kill you. Thus, Washtenaw Community College is packed full of the possibilities of enhancing the potentialities, aptitudes and visions, just as any institution of higher learning should be. The key: Higher Learning. Do not disparage the “in-district” resident’s ability to pay $95 a credit hour. Of course, the Big 10, Ivy League and others are prestigious and wonders to behold. Yet talent is talent and at times it all comes out in the wash. We are all in the mosaic of life. An accommodating student center, the Legendary Morris Lawrence w the Auditorium’s name in his honor and the music program still going strong. WCC offers countless resources, references and an ability to improve your life plan. A new career pathway, a hobby, a skill, a language- don’t break an arm or a leg, go into an easy transition, by becoming a WCC student and hold your head high.Chawn Aray

Took Motorcycle Safety: Basic Rider Course Weeknight. The course was very well done with professional instructors and decent equipment. Both classroom (parking garage) and range were excellent venues for the subject matter. The class had full enrollment (12 riders) and instructors provided significant "hands on" individualized training. Some participants (students) were familiar with motorcycles others were First Time riders. Appropriate attention and training was received by all. Great job WCC!Michael Bell

I will start with the good. The instructors are amazing. Most of them that I have had are very intelligent and filled with the necessary knowledge to teach you. Now the bad. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE COUNSELORS!!!! Figure out what classes you need to take on your own. I spent 3.5 years there with a combination of full and part time and have no degree and no requirements for any programs that I told them I was most interested in. When I was a vulnerable 17 year old first generation college student there completely on my own they told me I needed to take reading for Nursing. For one, looking back, I placed out of reading. For two, I have yet to come across a nursing program that requires reading. It seems that they always gave me the run around and had me taking all of the classes that I did not need, and none of the classes that I did need. If you can figure out what classes you need to take on your own, then The school if great, and the education that you receive is great. If you have nobody to help you or guide you in your life and are solely dependent on the counselors advise, find an alternative.Amber Parson

I didn’t know I Loved ECC, until I moved and I was out of district so I had to go to MCC. I Hate MCC everything and everyone is shut off by 4pm and there’s no almost no teachers willing to teach past 4 (There are but only some). This is impossible to manage. I’m getting a job near ECC so I can go back. I MISS YOU. Not only does ecc have a ton a teachers, but they offer a variety of times for classes especially in the afternoon. There teachers are wonderful and dedicated (not all of course but most) and there facility offers so many different activities and clubs you can go crazy in there. Terrible business. They sold me books that I didnt need for classes. They wouldn't refund me nor buy the books back. MThey sold me a used loose leaf History book and my HIS 109 book was missing pages. when I talked to the lady just now, she wouldn't do anything about it, handed me one of my other books and said they have enough of them right now. She had a terrible attitude when all I showed was respect. I paid over $480 to this bookstore, all I got was disrespect and inconvenience. I will not be purchasing my books or software through the campus bookstore any longer. I've been treated like garbage just for walking through the door.Ross Daugherty

The building is not very inviting because it is so big, but once you get in and figure out what's where it becomes less intimidating. I graduated here with my associate's degree in Leadership. 60 of my credits transferred from NWTC to Concordia University of Wisconsin. I preferred the video conference classes. My son is currently attending the school. I was a student there back in the early 80's. The campus is very nice. Helpful faculty, variety of courses and majors. Good food choices at the cafeteria and a workout area with plenty of free weights and machines with an attached gymnasium. Lots of nice areas to study both inside and outside.David Klinzing

Excellent place to take a test! I took a certification exam through Pearson Vue at NWTC. The test center employees explained everything thoroughly and the center itself was quiet enough to take my exam. They offer ear plugs as well so you won't be bothered if people enter or leave the room.Phillip Kurimski

I took the CNA ‘Plus’ programme there back in October 2021. For $2395 we never got a clinical! And the facilities and equipment provided were unbelievable! One mannequin with its leg falling out and not even a proper night gown to keep it from being exposed! Sheets were dirty! Equipment faulty, and now we are STILL waiting to take our state licensure exams! If you’re taking the CNA programme, do not take the “plus part” it is a waste of money and time. State Street U is amazing. I attended 22 years ago and stopped by for the first time since then and I was amazed to find, updated buildings, a beautiful store, and a whole new feel. The professors and professionals were mostly great when I was there and though I don't attend, I had a chance to talk to administrators and they are still amazing. It is a fantastic education at a great price. If you are looking for a great community college, look no further than STCC. i came in for one reason to get job after graduation been going on two yrs feels like high school classes. Im a criminal Justice major and i like program except one huge thing it needs more hands traning so you prepared for the job once you graduate and not have move on for four degree and they need to have dorminties to live on i hardly see people on campus it almost empety they have two many campuses they need to have one and the paint falling off the school. I hoping i graduate and get job in but i feel unprepared to due the classes they made to if i knew this i would have gone out of state because these tech schools are scam been at midlands tech for my associates in arts degree if i was going for a different major i would be more thrild they have good health science program that gets job as soon as graduate due to the clinicals and broad certification test. some classes have been cancled to there harldy many students in eithermichael mcdaniel

The advisors are literally the worst I have seen. They are basically unaware of how to advise, impossible to reach, don't follow through, and give no recommendations on pre requisite classes. Now the health science department is even worse. The instructors pride themselves on a high failure percentage. They deviate from school policy and ALL Bio 210 and 211 professors are arrogant and unwilling to support your child. Stay away from the arrogant professors, AND they don't care about your future.AB Gentry

this technical college is the best technical college in south carolina, there was a problem with the workers at the edgefield campus, they lost my transcripts, and they tried to cancel my advisement appointment so they could meet their boyfriend in the parking lot, the students at the edgefield campus were rude, and trashy, they are not going to stop me from going there, the classes that you have to take are wonderful, the instructional methods are excellentJessica Taylor

"Technology"? I can't even do my homework in class!? The cpu keeps freezing up! Lost my assignment in the Microsoft Cloud ON CAMPUS! Technical support is one overweight guy always eating at his cpu. I had to wait until the end of the quarter to meet with an advisor to sign up for classes I didn't want. Now I got a teacher that I didn't want. Got referred to get help with housing, the guy at Mary's Place never called me back. It's more like a outdated community college. The campus security running around there think they the real police. Several minority students told me they were followed around campus by them. Covid hit and I'm getting pressured by a rude narcissist teacher to come to the school to withdrawal from class. Then when I was trying to get back into school nobody answered a voicemail or email. Only owed the school around $400, got a collections bill for $1,000+. The King County Metro bus doesn't come by the school that much. Your definitely going to car transportation. The staff is mostly nice & helpful for the most part. I am a 55 year old returning student who attended a " Little Ivy " college in my first time around. My prep school was rated #3 in the US by Forbes.I have enjoyed some of the best educational opportunities that the US can offer. I have surprisingly found most of the instructors here to be very dedicated and qualified. Some stand out, some are better than others, but none are lemons.They compare fairly well , within reason, of the instructors I had at my elite schools.BTW, because the program I am taking is in high demand in the private sector, the government provides extra money for financially qualified students. I will go through my six quarter program at about 20% of the cost.I had no idea that the money is out there if you take the time to look. Do yourself a favor and get off the couch. The building is nice, the atmosphere is nice. Most teachers are great and would like to see you be successful. The advising office is my least favorite because I am always continually being given incorrect information, information in which is very important to have. The advisors are sometimes very hard to get a hold of and some do not get back to you, and when they do they don't give you the information you needed. I have wasted a whole day and gas to go to appointments that I could have just gotten the information over the phone, or through email, the front office is touch and go as well. Other than that the school is nice, I'd recommend it, but make sure you get the correct information the first time and not when it's too late.Liz Brown

I don’t even know where to begin with this place. First of all if you are considering going here you need to run in the opposite direction. I moved here from out of state and gave this institution 10,000 of my dollars just to be disrespected and ridiculed by the faculty and staff. My high school teachers were more competent and respectful than anyone here. The school is run down and smells like mildew other than the main building they use to advertise this place. I did not learn one single thing the entire time I was here and let it be known that I am now graduating to be a medical professional so I was not the problem. Be careful if using MYCAA to pay for classes, regardless of whether or not you submit on your end on time. If the school doesn't submit it on time on their end (as in my case) you'll receive a dozen and a half reminders that tuition is due (the school doesn't handle MYCAA and the funds get sent to the student to then pass on to the school and if it's not paid by "x" date at "x" time classes are dropped. Had I of known this, I would have applied for schooling elsewhere. Waste of time. Not everyone wants or needs to use FAFSA………Courtney Myszewski

No a good place to take a home inspector class you have 60 hours to read a huge book, and triton college push you to get brand new book but all the material they show you is from 1900, therefore the teacher encourage you to just read the book because their old material doesn't Match with the new book, nothing is updated. Plus If you miss 1 point on your exam you lose the whole course and have to do it again because they don't give you another chance to take another test even for one point and expected to pay all again.so you waste your time,your money..and all over it the instructor says that if English is not your first language you are in the wrong place and makes comments all the time about people's accents. Clean, friendly, cool school. I was in the A building, the lady in room A126 was VERY nice and quiet since it was a testing room. They even have FREE feminine products in restrooms for women. I asked about future classes and the lady who helped me initially was VERY pleasant and turned her computer screen around to show me how to navigate the schools website!! So far I have had a just ok experience here at SPSCC. First starting with the financial aid office. We are almost three weeks into the quarter and they just now processed my awards (grants that is) but it is sitting and hasn’t been disbursed yet. Every time I have inquired about it I am given the excuse of their new ctclink system. We have got to get it together! People that apply for and receive financial aid and grants need these to help get through school. They are eligible for a reason and that is because they are low income. So taking an excessive amount of time of sending students their financial aid puts a damper on not only their learning but also their living situation. This is effecting the students and the students only. Also, the bookstore listed a book for my class as required so I purchased it a week before the quarter. Come to find out the Professor is using two completely different books. Had to make another trip to the campus to return it which was an inconvenience since I’m all online classes. Then the two books needed the bookstore does not carry. It’s been challenge after challenge here and this is just the beginning.glenda fox

I attended this college for exactly five months, and I decided to leave because I lost interest in the classes that I took, and I didn't have the interest to have a major career. An education for myself would have been very important, and I had the capability to work with subjects if I was committed to the work that I was doing, but I didn't have the interest, so I decided to be a writer instead. I also left the college because I was treated carelessly by many students, and I was treated the same way in high school, so I didn't want to continue spending more time in an environment where I would continue to be disregarded. If you are committed to getting an education, then it is all a matter of interest for what your career is, and it's up to anyone for what they want best, but even if I don't have a high education, I still have moral education from my potential to be a writer. I attended a few classes here a long time ago. I needed to get the transcripts rather quickly because the deadline for University admissions is closing in. When I visited the office the lady that helped me proceeded to treat me like dirt. I asked if the document would be in an envelope and if they needed the address I was sending it to and she proceeded to mansplain transcripts ("this is the paper its going to go on after I feed it into the printer"). From the perspective of someone who works in higher education…if I were a student and had to be mansplained to every time in needed to speak to registration/financial aid/cashiering…I would complain to her boss. First off, it is an institute of technology, not a university. NASA applications say "Technology institute graduates need not apply." NASA isn't alone in this. I had 5 different advisors by the end of my 1st month. No one could be bothered. My final advisor was the department chair, and when he "helped" me sign up for 3 classes, 1 was class was held in Washington, and another class wasn't even scheduled for that term, so I was left with one class that term. The next term, like the term before, I needed a unique password to register for classes. Only problem was the only person who could give me the password, my advisor, was on vacation. I had to talk with his superiors to get him to reply to my email for the password. When he replied, he had an attitude. This kind of think happened in so many different ways, I just washed my hands of this school. It took them 3 terms just to get me my student ID card. Anytime I had a academic, not scholastic, question, it usually takes about 2 hours of being bounced around from building to building, often the same buildings, having to talk to the same people, because no one can be bothered. Eventually after the 3rd time of me coming back to someone to ask the same question, I'll get a big sigh and finally an answer.Tim DuDD

OIT is a great school of Engineering. Pros 1- Average students in the class between 10 to 25, so that is very good to ask and participate as well as most of the professors can easily recognize each student. 2- Reasonable professors. 3- OIT located in Klamath City which is small and cheap town. 4- Easy to get high grade if you do all your HW, NO absent , more participation. 5 – Library stuff is very helpful. 6- Safe and good place to study in. 7- US News classified Oregon Tech as one of the best five universities. Cons: 1- Library hours are very terrible. 2- Klamath City is not active city, after 7 pm every one dies. 3- There is nothing to do if you have free time except outdoor activities. 4- Heath Center is really wasteful.Mohammed Asiri

I've worked at four public universities across the country, and Oregon Tech has the most engaged and dedicated faculty and staff I've ever encountered. Students benefit from small class sizes and many opportunities for hands-on applied learning. Students I assist in Career Services are focused, dedicated and mature. The administration is proud of being career-focused but also recognizes the benefits of teaching soft skills. Oregon Tech is also increasing its emphasis on providing students with experiences that will translate to exceptional workplace skills, like working on cross functional student team projects. Both my wife and I were returning college students and Stark State Alumni class of 2012. We both received a great education. She went for respiratory therapy and I went for Graphic Design. The graphic design program was wonderful. The professors were all very knowledgeable and really cared about their students (huge shout outs to Michelle Lash and Eugene Starr). The classes are small and it's very easy to schedule time with the professors if you need help or need to go over some things. It's also nice to have online classes if that's your thing. For the younger students (and older alike), Stark State also hooks you up with SALT at no charge after graduation, which is a useful tool to help find employement after graduation. Luckily I furthered my career without having to use SALT. The biggest recommendation I could suggest would be to offer more of certain classes. Sometimes only one class is offered a semester and can conflict with working hours. Thank you, Stark State and to all of my professors for giving me a great education and giving me a fighting chance in the workforce after graduation. For those who are seeking four year degrees and beyond, Stark State is definitely a great (and affordable) place to start.stephen slusny

I attended Stark State College a number of years ago when it was Stark Technical College. I am surprised by the negative reviews, because I had a great experience at the school. I graduate with a degree in Computer Technology, and the courses were challenging and taught me a lot. I still remember some of the great instructors like Mrs. McBride in my math classes. I even worked there part-time for about a year doing LAN Administration. They have provided me with a foundation for a very successful career in IT. I later completed my Bachelor degree at Kent State. I am currently completing my MBA. I was able to get a copy of my transcripts, even after graduating 25 years ago, by faxing in a request. I did this for two different Universities, and they arrived within a week. In this age there should be a way to do it electronically like Kent State, but at least they do not charge you for them. Overall I had an excellent experience and they prepared me for a very rewarding career in Computer Technology. I absolutely have no regrets about this school, and I enjoyed my time there.Kevin Frazier

I can not believe Stark State has less than 4 stars! This is my second semester and I LOVE it! The faculty are truly amazing and extremely helpful! This college also offers small class room sizes which makes learning more personal. Your teachers and professors always do their best to know each student by name. It is also extremely great for working folks who have busy work loads. They have many courses that can virtually work with any type of schedule. There are many success programs that Stark State offers, including assistance with any subject as well as a great Accommodations program for those with any learning disability/disability from minor to severe. Stark State also always keeps their students in the know through text message and emails. They give you the tools you need in order to succeed. Highly recommend this college!elisabeth brian

I recently finished my second Technical degree for Metal Fabrication as a returning student. I delayed going back to school for years for lots of reasons, but mostly because I thought it would be as awful of an experience as High School was. Instead the teachers in my program were excellent. I was always challenged by the projects and supported in my learning in equal measure. If you're looking to get into welding or Metal Fabrication, these programs are career fields that need people, pay well, and you can learn them here! Don't sleep on the trade skills that can be taught here. Go to the open houses, see if these are things you're interested in doing. A 4 year degree isn't The guarantee of employment it used to be, but these one year Technical degrees, leading to in demand fields are.Travis H

Very nice tech college. Almost everyone you come across on campus can point you in the right direction. I just started school today online. But tomorrow I get to go to campus. It's a clean sanitary environment. There is currently some remodeling going on, so part of the building you cannot access… yet! AC was on, felt awesome. temperature didn't change much room to room either. All the employees seem to know their job very well and are willing to help. I chose Madison Area Technical College because I know many people that have graduated and successfully got into a job they wanted. This school is also smaller than UW Madison so I feel like the learning experience is better, more hands on, more participation versus a large school such as UW Madison.Shane Toycen

The good profs here are all just professors moonlighting from UW Madison, I'd honestly say you should apply to and go to literally any other UW system school before here. The quality of education isn't bad- but they somehow managed to misplace finances and put 650 bucks into collections randomly – without mailing me any notifications, and without a notifications on the online portal. You won't get competency from any of the administrative staff, expect 5 week long waits to see a counselor for any sort of urgent need. If you are a student with a disability – make sure you have additional copies of any medical documentation, they will claim to lose it. Most of the education staff despises the administrative staff and yeah, I can see why.Bee

In a time when unique challenges presented themselves, the College of Eastern Idaho dug in. There was never a question of whether the demanding conditions would stop students from getting their education, it was only a question of what needed to happen to make sure that they did. CEI faculty and staff, under the care of an amazing administration, simply rolled up their sleeves and got it done. The learning curve for adapting to a pandemic was wrangled by the brute force of amazing minds aligned towards a goal. Nice and clean campus seems to be well organized, the technical department seems very organized with all the tools and the training necessary to be prepared for my job. The campus was so clean and so organized that I think I will sign my wife up so she can start classes in the fall. Putting a review in on behalf of my experience in the auto tech side of CWI. Absolute nightmare and a waste of about $10000. The instructors are unbelievably rude, lazy, and unorganized I guess you would say. I went there for about 2 1/2 total years. One instructor that I’m not gonna name because he was the only good instructor dropped down from a higher position in the school because all the staff was complaining and not actually getting stuff done. Apparently that reflected on him but nobody listened so he just stepped away from the position and let Alex take it. 2 other instructors quit during my time there. Drug testing there seemed to be a trend for testing all other ethnicities except Caucasians, 2 per class. All I’m gonna say about that sense it’s a sensitive subject. John D, needs to be fired. Called me “boy” after I nicely asked him to call me by my name “Alex” and proceeded to scream at me making a scene for the whole class over me missing the last 15 minutes of class for a once in a life time opportunity for most people. He also tried to fail me by doing everything he could to not help me catch up in class after I got extremely sick for about a week and a half and had to go to the hospital. Scott the electrical instructor. He just lectures you for literally 4 1/2 hours and makes pointless jokes that aren’t funny at all and wastes more time. CWI did acknowledge that problem and talked to the students about it but ended up doing nothing. Your last half an hour to an hour of class with Scott is hands on time with an actual vehicle and guess what? Scott usually disappears until the last 10 minutes of class because Scott has 2 jobs and doesn’t really care about his students success. The $10000 waste is all the expensive tools and that $5000 Snap On box that they basically tell the students you absolutely need even though you really don’t touch your tools all that much. And finally the timing of lying eventually gets unbearable. With the tension between John D and I he went behind my back told Alex a bunch of lies such as I’m not doing enough, I’m not being hands on, I’m missing during class, and I’m being disrespectful to him which resulted in me being set in a self made intervention because apparently to Alex instructors are always right. After the whole intervention I had to tell John D when I had to go to the bathroom and after class I had to go spend 30 minutes finding Alex to tell him one thing I learned in class today. Sounds a lot like kindergarten. This resulted in me having a bad relationship with my managers at work(auto industry job CWI told me I had to have to graduate) and losing my job for constantly being late. I also quit CWI because 2 years of being a rag doll for working my butt off eventually gets old believe it or not. Fighting through the depression and anger wasn’t worth the degree in my opinion. This was my experience at CWI and I truly hope yours is different but I would explore your options before you just throw yourself into that school.Alex Hartley

If i could rate this school a 0 i would. I recently moved from out of state, and just started my first semester at this school. My fiance and i have numerous issues, and it's only the second week of class. If you want financial aid from this school, good luck its a joke. We've been working on financial aid since FEBRUARY and still don't have it. We go to "one stop" and they say "oh no, you need this this this and this". Okay, fine so we would do that and go back to turn in what they wanted, then it was "nope that's all wrong you don't need any of this, this is what you need". It's been a ton of loopholes and i feel as if the staff aren't trained properly and we've been told different things every time. Their website is outdated and way behind other schools. Blackboard is unorganized, their payment plans are a joke. I had issues just trying to buy my textbooks, you would think that would be simple right?! Not at this school. They have a 10% graduation rate and i can see why. They make me want to move just to find a better school. Don't take online classes either because there teachers drop you for "nonattendance" when really their just unorganized and can't correctly check the assignments via the students. CWI in conclusion is affordable. The education meets expectations, teachers are helpful/colorful, classrooms are medium size like high school; so you get the student participation/feedback that assists you in your development and growth. Its a little dull but if you work, your older, or are looking for parallel education to other schools at half the price CWI is fine. If you are a Veteran and want to attend this school I recommend you don't. I personally have had multiple issues with communication with the school as well as obtaining an appointment with their one VA counselor. My appointment was made a month and a half out mainly because that specific date was the only day that would work for me. I was suppose to walk in at 4 pm to see the counselor. Mind you I called earlier that day to confirm my appointment, even received an email notification confirming my appointment. They told me they accidentally double booked, but to come in anyways and they will just squeeze me in. Came in at 350 PM checked in the front desk looked confused, I explained the situation and I didn't get seen until 5:45 PM I had a final for speech class at 6 PM. If you decide to take online classes be careful you could end up like me log in and check the course the first day of the semester in this case July 19th 2017 at 8:55 AM and see that there are no notifications or assignments post yet. Log in that Friday still having issues to find out you got dropped that Wednesday for not being active in the course. I logged in that Monday to do the Class work knowing that my other class kept me busy tues, wed, thurs. All just to find out that your email was jacked because of the conversion they did in spring, therefore getting locked from your account. I do not recommend this school or the school district it has only been a constant uphill battle for me and to many stressful occurrences. Attend a Cal State or Cal University.Cody

I have been trying to see a counselor, and so far I have come to the counseling department more than five times. Anytime I went there, they said that there are a lot of students so go come back tomorrow at 8:00 am. When I went there at 8:00 am the next day, they said oh we don't do walk ins, you can go today, but for tomorrow give us a call to confirm if there is any counselor available. I did call them the day before coming they said yes come around 8:00 am you will for sure see a counselor, I got there at 8:00 am, but unfortunately again they said that there are a lot of students and they only have one counselor. I don't know what game do they play with students, I missed going to work for 3 days, and it seems that I might not be able to take any classes this summer just because of not being able to see a counselor. I request the authorities of this nice college to pay attention to this problem, and find some possible ways of solution since the students need to have updated Educationan Plans.Tawfiq Sediqi

This college is a freaking mess and very unorganized!!!! Fist visit, they told me counseling was open until 4:30pm. Got there at 3:34pm and said they stop at 3pm. They told me to come back tomorrow and they will do counseling till 4pm. I got early from work the nex day, and when I get to the counseling office, they said they are not doing counseling today! They tell me to come back tomorrow. They couldn't take appointments because they were too busy that week. I come back the next day, my job let me get off early again, when I get to the counseling they tell me their system is down! They tell me to come back on Saturday for the event. They tell me counseling and student services will be open. I'm here at the counseling at 10am, they freaking tell me no counselors today, they are only taking picture for IDS !!!! This is the worse experience I had. Very unprofessional, not organized!!!! I'm very upset!!!!!Miriam Gal

Waste of time and money. Only 1 microbiology teacher this semester… same one I had last semester that couldn’t speak English and sent us to the dean if we had ANY sort of question. I tried to get a different one this semester but there was only one that they were offering. I reached out for help multiple times and never got any help other than “try finding new ways to study” could never have zoom meetings to discuss a problem. My councilor was absolutely no help, wasted 2 years trying to get things done and she always said I “had” to do this and this first when I have my pre reqs plus MANY more classes completed and even retook micro to get a better grade, with a teacher that can’t speak English and refused to help his own students. He always talked about covid and we never learned anything that was on the actual tests. Total waste of time and money, skip jw and go to a university.Mckenzie Vallee

Great place to continue your education. Affordable and efficient. A smaller college like John Wood can work to your advantage. It did for me. There was no overcrowded rooms and parking lots. It has a peaceful location with a clean atmosphere to function correctly. Teachers have more time to work with their students to help them with individual needs. Terrible, most of the classes I took there would not transfer to a good college because John Wood is too small and the other better colleges do NOT recognize it. Do NOT waste your time or money. I am a current student going into my senior year at Montana Tech. The staff that I have encountered have been extremely helpful to me whenever I have any questions or need additional help. Sure there are times when I get redirected to someone else, but I would rather be redirected to someone that can actually help me than to stay with someone who is unsure. Once you find out the right people to talk to guidance is easy to come by. Most of the professors that I have encountered have an open door policy and encourage us to stop by for any help that they may offer. It is easy to go in and talk to them, they just leave it up to the students to take initiative and approach them. These classes are difficult! That is just the nature of these fields of study. With hard work and help from the professors and others (which many students do not take advantage of) the information can be learned. On top of professor help, the tutor center is available for scheduled appointments and walk-ins. The tutor center is staffed with students that have been through these classes so they understand the questions and woes of the students. No one wants to see someone fail, everyone will try and help however they can. One of the greatest things this college has done for its students is bring in many large companies to the career fair. This is the greatest opportunity to talk with these companies to try and get internships and jobs with them. Keep in mind that hundreds of students are trying to get in with these companies. The ones that get these positions work hard and make themselves look good. Montana Tech provides many different opportunities to learn how to make yourself appetizing to these companies. The surrounding area has many great outdoor activities and the campus hosts some nice events for its students as well. It is not a big city so there is not an abundance of things to do but really the reason to go to college is to learn and prepare for our future. This is a college that looks out for its students and is excited to see them succeed. I highly recommend Montana Tech to anyone that is looking for a college with a strong engineering discipline.Seth Grinde

As a non-traditional student I was initially hesitant about going back to school; However, the registrar and teachers have made it nothing but an easy transition into the Petroleum Engineering Department. As I get further into my studies the classes become challenging, yet more applicable. The professors work to bring real-life situations into the classroom, giving students a better understanding as to why we learn what we learn. When I have questions, the teachers are more than willing to answer them, in and out of the classroom. When it comes to working in the industry, career services is amazing at connecting students with the companies, giving us plenty of opportunities to meet with recruiters. Overall, I have nothing but good things to say about Montana Tech, it truly is a place to grow as an individual and a professional.kewages

Currently attending and it's exactly what I paid for; an engineering campus with renowned rigorous classes. The other review posted by the helicopter-parent isn't true. The campus is great and the staff are very reliable. However, the classes are/will be hard! This parent was obviously lied to by their child who didn't put enough effort into their academics. If one wants to succeed at Montana Tech they have to put in some hard work. This is why Montana Tech DOES create many internship opportunities. Companies realize the dedication students must commit to complete their education at Tech. If the homework for the classes are completed, a student can definitely expect success and job opportunities in their chosen field. P.S. The food isn't great, but they are currently working on Grill options and are definitely improving.Branden Fraser

I took Acting & Gymnastics classes growing up as a kid @ KCC; along with taking other performing arts enrichment classes @ Brooklyn College also while growing up, although Brooklyn College wasn't affiliated with my high school like KCC was. KCC has a great campus for a CUNY two-year college (one of the nicest in the CUNY system being right on Manhattan Beach) and is also the partner CUNY institute with my High School alma mater, Edward R. Murrow whom it operates the CollegeNow! program with. I spent my Junior and Senior years at Murrow taking KCC college-level courses taught by both Murrow faculty, and visiting KCC faculty (at Murrow) as well as commuting to the KCC campus from Murrow for additional classes that could only be taught on-site @ the KCC campus. It was EXTREMELY academically enriching to be able to enjoy a college level curriculum whilst still being in High School; and that was due directly to KCC's collaboration with my high school. My GPA went up as a result of the CollegeNow! program during my last two years at Murrow as did my SAT scores. I have KCC to thank for that. 👍👏👏👏👏Ben Schaeffer

Kingsborough CC has a very nice entertainment program, well-run and well-sited, with both indoor and outdoor venues. This year's 4-part post-pandemic return to their July outdoor series has been a real winner for the 3 weeks of it so far, with decent weather enhancing the winning combination. Performers have commented on how well-received they are when they come to perform there, from an enthusiastic staff that really respects their art, to receptive audiences. That reputation has allowed audiences to see a number of top-notch acts more than once there, as the artists appreciate that respectful treatment. There have been other events there, all of which were interrupted by COVID since it came around, so there will be needed time to get those back on track. There are cautionary protocols in place even now: those attending must provide proof of vaccination, with masks optional. Not sure of masking will or will not be required once the indoor events resume, but it certainly appears that the staff has kept up-to-date with everything necessary.N H Tanner
