I will start with the good. The instructors are amazing. Most of them that I have had are very intelligent and filled with the necessary knowledge to teach you. Now the bad. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE COUNSELORS!!!! Figure out what classes you need to take on your own. I spent 3.5 years there with a combination of full and part time and have no degree and no requirements for any programs that I told them I was most interested in. When I was a vulnerable 17 year old first generation college student there completely on my own they told me I needed to take reading for Nursing. For one, looking back, I placed out of reading. For two, I have yet to come across a nursing program that requires reading. It seems that they always gave me the run around and had me taking all of the classes that I did not need, and none of the classes that I did need. If you can figure out what classes you need to take on your own, then The school if great, and the education that you receive is great. If you have nobody to help you or guide you in your life and are solely dependent on the counselors advise, find an alternative.Amber Parson

I didn’t know I Loved ECC, until I moved and I was out of district so I had to go to MCC. I Hate MCC everything and everyone is shut off by 4pm and there’s no almost no teachers willing to teach past 4 (There are but only some). This is impossible to manage. I’m getting a job near ECC so I can go back. I MISS YOU. Not only does ecc have a ton a teachers, but they offer a variety of times for classes especially in the afternoon. There teachers are wonderful and dedicated (not all of course but most) and there facility offers so many different activities and clubs you can go crazy in there. Terrible business. They sold me books that I didnt need for classes. They wouldn't refund me nor buy the books back. MThey sold me a used loose leaf History book and my HIS 109 book was missing pages. when I talked to the lady just now, she wouldn't do anything about it, handed me one of my other books and said they have enough of them right now. She had a terrible attitude when all I showed was respect. I paid over $480 to this bookstore, all I got was disrespect and inconvenience. My son is currently attending the school. I was a student there back in the early 80's. The campus is very nice. Helpful faculty, variety of courses and majors. Good food choices at the cafeteria and a workout area with plenty of free weights and machines with an attached gymnasium. Lots of nice areas to study both inside and outside.David Klinzing

Excellent place to take a test! I took a certification exam through Pearson Vue at NWTC. The test center employees explained everything thoroughly and the center itself was quiet enough to take my exam. The advisors are literally the worst I have seen. They are basically unaware of how to advise, impossible to reach, don't follow through, and give no recommendations on pre requisite classes. Now the health science department is even worse. The instructors pride themselves on a high failure percentage. They deviate from school policy and ALL Bio 210 and 211 professors are arrogant and unwilling to support your child. They've got learning workshops and grant money for struggling students, either academically, financially, or both. When I went to University I never had something like this. Idk if it existed, and if it did, the University never advertised it for students. Also! This school has an amazing program for those who want to work with animals. The ZAS program (Zoo and Aquarium Science) is a 2 yr applied associates program and its goal is to get you straight into your career. They have terrestrial animals and an aquarium on site! I went for the IT area. Big mistake. They could not keep knowledgeable instuctors. Was told most would be online when enrolling and after enrollment only two classes was online. They kept putting me in classes that were to advanced like one or two classes should have been done before taking. I have a issue with walking due to a previous injury had asked for assistance to the buildings and never received. I ended up leaving due to the rude and not trained instructors and it being to much to make it up the hill to classes daily. This was in 2015, 2016.Marinda Carter

The school maybe nice, I never had the opportunity to explore, however; their paramedic program is a joke. The staff runs each class on different criteria, for instance my instructor (Wesley Carter) stated we don't do pulse checks in CPR after the first check indicating an arrest. However; as a BLS CPR instructor that is false and the AHA teaches pulse check. However; he was my instructor so in order to test out I did as he wanted and when a different instructor tested me they failed me for using the broslow tape and for not checking pulses, said I should have done it by weight based and the broslow tape is a guideline. Since then I have spoken to several national certified paramedics, nurses, and physicians that state this school is a joke and shouldn't be teaching students period and that the broslow tape is there for a reason to assist in dosing a pediatric patient when weight is not obtained. The instructors can't get on the same page and give out different requirements and if you do what one says it's wrong to every other instructor. Also they give you test out scenarios at the end every instructor does 2 which is you standard, set by North Carolina and my instructor is the only one that does 3 scenarios. No uniformity and poor quality instructors. Horrible experience that I will never get my time, my money, and my family gatherings, birth of my child, and events because these people are not on the same page.Kevin Meiser

Get me outt. If I could drop out i would. This college is awful I learn more from quizlet then I have with any teachers. The teachers here are all lazy and only care about their paycheck. I asked for help and never got a response from one teacher and I still haven't :P. What I would give to be able to drop out from this college. 2 stars for providing a college beyond high school in Kinston. One star for pay compared to other community colleges that pay adjunct instructors $35+ per hour. How has LCC contributed to Lenoir County in skills and talent? On Pitt college's website it states that its students have contributed over $114 million dollars to the local community. I walked around the college grounds and it is boring, no energy or excitement. Lastly, LCC should market more to Black students and the Black community because although Kinston is almost 70% Black; it's not reflected in its student body. Southeastern College offers the best Medical assistant program with the greatest professors, one of which to whom I am forever grateful. Dr. Brian Dickens is a wonderfully influential person who always leaves students ready to enter their career. He has helped open doors and provided me with the skills that allowed me to continue my education in the medical field. His friendly yet professional teaching style made the class very interesting and fun for all the students, not to mention he has a great since of humor that always gave us a smile in the classroom. The motivation that drives him to master a topic was channeled into building his students' interest and helping them understand the material. Overall, the experiences that Dr. Dickens motivated me to pursue, along with the skills he taught me in and out of the classroom, have now helped me to obtain my dream. I have read so many of these reviews and they compelled me to write one of my own. I was a student at SEC in 2016, where I pursued my career in Medical Assistant. My teacher was Mr Brian Dickens. Of a fact, Mr Dickens is one of the best teachers I ever had. He goes above and beyond to ensure that his students grasp what is being thought and he's willing and ready to share his knowledge and experiences. He makes his class fun and something to look forward to each day. Even after graduation he still sends us articles on how to be a good MA. He ensures that we are equipped for the job ahead. Because of this, I got a job immediately after my internship. I am still at that job..Way to to Mr D. Also, the faculty staff at SEC is the best. They are very helpful and make themselves available to assist in any area. I love SEC. So I started online in September of 2018, and transferred to campus classes in September 2019. I absolutely LOVE the small class size, and staff for the most part is awesome. Mr. Brian Dickens is a PHENOMENAL instructor, and it is obvious that he cares about his students. He takes the time needed to make sure that you understand the materials, and consistently stays active in everything that we are doing, including allowing us to practice on him to make sure our techniques are appropriate. I would recommend this school to anyone who appreciates smaller class sizes and teachers that care. There is definitely a sense of family within the classes, and it's awesome to have the same teacher throughout my time on campus. Attended in 2013 and now again from 2018-2020. Lived in the North Hall dorms so far (the new ones with suites that are a bit expensive) and they're about as pristine of living as you're gonna get in a community college, walking distance to everything. Since limited parking space is arguably NMC's biggest problem in the late 2010's, being able to walk to classes is a huge advantage since parking there is a joke. I told them to build a parking garage. They seriously need one. That said for a community college this is a 5-star place to be, but the dorms people are talking about in negative reviews, The East Hall dorms, really do seem pretty awful judging from the 2 times I've been in there to visit friends. There's also on-campus apartments, for 21+ students. So basically here's how to do housing here: East Hall: if you're 18-20, have no regard for quality living and just want a place to goof around, study a bit, sleep, and munch on snacks between cafeteria meals (cheapest) North Hall: You're 20-29, have a bedroom's worth of stuff, and need a full kitchen w/ a refrigerator to share with 3 others, and would share a nice cleanly bathroom with 1-2 others and would like a nice shared living room area with couches. (usually most expensive option they have) Apartments: If you won't settle for less than regular apartment standards of living, have kids, spouse, etc., or have enough furnishings to fill out multiple rooms (middle cost option, I think) Between having a marine technology school, a stargazing observatory, an audio recording studio, an aviation school, an automotive garage, a music & art building, nursing programs galore, and a brand new "innovation center" going up in the year 2020, this is one of the best community colleges you'll find. If they'd switch to renewable energy like Ohlone College in Fremont, CA (another hidden gem of a community college), I'd rate NMC a *solid* 5 stars, instead of a 4.7 stars that I rounded up to match what's coming in the near future.Connor Louiselle

I have completed four semesters at NMC living off-campus. I knew people who lived in the dorms but I wouldn't recommend them to my friends or family. The dorms closely resemble a prison with white brick walls, shared bathrooms (between 4 students, 2 rooms connected by the bathroom). The prices for these dorms are quite expensive in fall and spring semesters. The teachers for the most part are amazing. They are all (that i learned from) highly intelligent and friendly. Most often they are flexible and considerate. My only problem with some teachers is that in the beginning of the semester at the first class they would often claim "We are trying a new system out, this is the first time and i think it'll work better this way." Now… I don't know what that's supposed to mean but in almost all of these cases it leaves you attending a very unstable class with new and unused materials/processes. These were always extremely weird and complicated situations that made me view the teacher as less professional by the end of the term. They had the knowledge, they just delivered it very clumsily. I maintained above a 3.5 GPA which wasn't too difficult at all. You just had to study and be able to comprehend the class by yourself. You can't really rely on the teacher's new methods or materials because they are pretty much half-baked. My final and most weighted complaint is their prices for tuition/bookstore/cafeteria/dorms. They are literally raping your pockets. As you struggle to even attend school, do NOT plan to buy anything from the cafeteria. Extremely overpriced. The tuition costs are absurd for anyone outside of grand traverse county. I just feel like this school has great teachers whose bosses are after the student loan surge. I love learning but if it comes at these prices, i'ma go at it alone. With free online courses. Who cares that i didn't pay 40k+ for my nice degree. WARNING–DO NOT LIVE ON CAMPUS. No A/C, No refrigerators and if your room is missing something good luck getting a replacement.. You're basically living in a sweat box for months on end. The staff is extremely up tight and obviously have never been anywhere but Traverse City and who hate their lives and have nothing else better to do than to kick people who aren't from the area out. A student was just kicked out of the dorms for a leaky Capri Sun juice pouch that was left unattended in the dorm hallway. Apparently this student will be facing carpet damage repair fees along with not receiving a reimbursement of nights that weren't spent there. Everything you do is on camera, this place is like big brother. You can only enter and exit one way in the dorms so they can watch you every time. Don't plan on driving around the campus at night unless you want to get pulled over by a rent-a-cop and get the 3rd degree on whether or not you live in the facilities no matter how many times you show a room key and ID. After all the harassment from the staff/ security and sleepless sweaty nights spent here I honestly cannot recommend these facilities to anyone looking to get a nice nights sleep, even if you are only staying for a weekend summer course, it's not worth it. Not to mention its $750 per month– this again is no A/C, no fridge, no kitchen, its just your desk, bed and your sweat. For around $600 a month you can live in an apartment, get much better accommodations and have the comforts of sleeping at night with A/C.Daniel Setser

This is my Story: Being an International Student at Santa Fe College is the worst thing that can happen to you. Besides that your tuition is 3 times more just for being an immigrant, they don't offer scholarships. Why we are not allow to get help? because we are just seem as a profit. Also, we do not get the benefit to choose how many classes we want to take because we are "required" to be full-time. We can only take one class online for semester. This post is about my tuition and what they did to me at Santa Fe. I apply for a student loan because I couldn't pay the ridiculous amount of money, but what happened is that the "amazing people" at financial aid didn't processed my loan, so my classes got drop. I talked with everyone at Santa Fe for help, even trying a payment plan but the last day to add/drop classes just passed. I brought all my papers signed of my loan to financial aid, and they told me that nothing can be done to help me. They just play with me sending me to person to person making lose my time and nobody helped me. Whenever I went to cashier's office and told what my situation was this lady after treating me horrible told me "we don't care about your situation, we just need the $6,000 today or you can start saying "goodbye" to your visa. I feel really glad about the help that they didn't give me, by the end of this semester I am going to be back in Venezuela because they did nothing to help me keep my visa status. SF College is nice and affordable for local kids; however, they are not at all equipped to handle international students' concerns. Staff that students interact on a day to day basis are made up of mostly underpaid student workers, and their answer to every question is a default "No". It is really frustrating. You can immediately see and feel the difference between this small state college and your typical large, internationally experienced university. Nonetheless, in-house faculty do a decent job teaching courses. I can't say the same about Santa Fe's adjunct instructors. Some are truly clueless (though it is not their fault; poor adjunct instructors are so underpaid that it made my jaw drop when I heard how much they make per semester). As a student who wants to actually learn the material, your best bet would be to register early for courses based on the instructors offering them. Overall, Santa Fe College is an affordable stepping stone to a larger University, such as their next door neighbor UF. I suppose it would also be a nice option for regional kids from lower to middle-income families. But that's about all the credit I can give to Santa Fe College. Culturally, it is lacking diversity. Went there in 2012 right after HS from Orlando. I went there to hopefully transfer to UF. The system failed me. The guidance counselors did nothing to guide me, I got depressed there and failed. I was a very good student in high school(top 5% with both IB and AP-full coursework) until 12th grade a personal event happened and I stopped attending and starting failing but still graduated. This is why I had to go to SF college as my gpa dropped to be able to to to UF. I had a 2030 on the SAT in HS as well. I was highly able to do well at SF but they failed me by not giving proper guidance or support and it ruined my whole college career as they didn’t accept my appeals for late withdrawal and I was stuck with a horrible GPA that ruined my life.Anonymous Someone

The grounds at CFCC are beautiful, the students are fantastic, and the culture is what makes it truly special. I don’t even know where to begin with this place. First of all if you are considering going here you need to run in the opposite direction. I moved here from out of state and gave this institution 10,000 of my dollars just to be disrespected and ridiculed by the faculty and staff. My high school teachers were more competent and respectful than anyone here. The school is run down and smells like mildew other than the main building they use to advertise this place. I did not learn one single thing the entire time I was here and let it be known that I am now graduating to be a medical professional so I was not the problem. Be careful if using MYCAA to pay for classes, regardless of whether or not you submit on your end on time. If the school doesn't submit it on time on their end (as in my case) you'll receive a dozen and a half reminders that tuition is due (the school doesn't handle MYCAA and the funds get sent to the student to then pass on to the school and if it's not paid by "x" date at "x" time classes are dropped. Had I of known this, I would have applied for schooling elsewhere. Waste of time. Not everyone wants or needs to use FAFSA………Courtney Myszewski

No a good place to take a home inspector class you have 60 hours to read a huge book, and triton college push you to get brand new book but all the material they show you is from 1900, therefore the teacher encourage you to just read the book because their old material doesn't Match with the new book, nothing is updated. Plus If you miss 1 point on your exam you lose the whole course and have to do it again because they don't give you another chance to take another test even for one point and expected to pay all again.so you waste your time,your money..and all over it the instructor says that if English is not your first language you are in the wrong place and makes comments all the time about people's accents. I asked about future classes and the lady who helped me initially was VERY pleasant and turned her computer screen around to show me how to navigate the schools website!! Both my wife and I were returning college students and Stark State Alumni class of 2012. We both received a great education. She went for respiratory therapy and I went for Graphic Design. The graphic design program was wonderful. The professors were all very knowledgeable and really cared about their students (huge shout outs to Michelle Lash and Eugene Starr). The classes are small and it's very easy to schedule time with the professors if you need help or need to go over some things. It's also nice to have online classes if that's your thing. For the younger students (and older alike), Stark State also hooks you up with SALT at no charge after graduation, which is a useful tool to help find employement after graduation. Luckily I furthered my career without having to use SALT. The biggest recommendation I could suggest would be to offer more of certain classes. Sometimes only one class is offered a semester and can conflict with working hours. Thank you, Stark State and to all of my professors for giving me a great education and giving me a fighting chance in the workforce after graduation. For those who are seeking four year degrees and beyond, Stark State is definitely a great (and affordable) place to start.stephen slusny

I attended Stark State College a number of years ago when it was Stark Technical College. I am surprised by the negative reviews, because I had a great experience at the school. I graduate with a degree in Computer Technology, and the courses were challenging and taught me a lot. I still remember some of the great instructors like Mrs. McBride in my math classes. I even worked there part-time for about a year doing LAN Administration. They have provided me with a foundation for a very successful career in IT. I later completed my Bachelor degree at Kent State. I am currently completing my MBA. I was able to get a copy of my transcripts, even after graduating 25 years ago, by faxing in a request. I did this for two different Universities, and they arrived within a week. In this age there should be a way to do it electronically like Kent State, but at least they do not charge you for them. Overall I had an excellent experience and they prepared me for a very rewarding career in Computer Technology. I can not believe Stark State has less than 4 stars! This is my second semester and I LOVE it! The faculty are truly amazing and extremely helpful! This college also offers small class room sizes which makes learning more personal. Your teachers and professors always do their best to know each student by name. It is also extremely great for working folks who have busy work loads. They have many courses that can virtually work with any type of schedule. There are many success programs that Stark State offers, including assistance with any subject as well as a great Accommodations program for those with any learning disability/disability from minor to severe. Stark State also always keeps their students in the know through text message and emails. They give you the tools you need in order to succeed. Highly recommend this college!elisabeth brian

(For reference, I am a first-generation college student, have a learning disability, and a physical disability.) TMCC sets students up for success. I have had a very positive experience both as a student and working for the school. I will be finishing a dual-degree sooner than expected. Most of the professors are great, and everyone in the humanities department is amazing. Most of the staff is very professional and able to well-inform students of what classes to take and what services may benefit them. On top of this, the school also offers free tutoring and mental health services. As a first-generation college student, I feel TMCC has helped me at every step of the way to succeed. With only 8 classes left to take, I still have a cumulative GPA of 4.0 despite doing relatively poorly in high school. As long as you put in your best effort, teachers will do everything possible to help you succeed. If you do not put any effort in and expect a handout, then it will be extremely difficult to succeed. This is a tremendous school with a caring and compassionate staff and faculty. This school has afforded me so many opportunities that I wouldn't have otherwise received without them. When I got to Reno, I was homeless. I arrived with two suitcases and less than $100 in the bank. I was staying with a friend and making very little money. I found myself in a situation where I worked hard labor job after hard labor job, trapped in a vicious cycle of injury and poverty and no clear view of how to exit my situation. In the month of December 2014, I walked into the offices at TMCC. In less than a year, I have found employment, I'm less than a year from finishing my degree and I am a Dean's list student. I had it in my head that I wanted to succeed and I was fortunate that this school wanted to help me to do exactly that. The teachers were compassionate and patient. Don't listen to the bad reviews, everybody has a different experience and different perceptions. Ive taken at least 20+ classes over 12 years, I love tmcc. It's a good community college in every way. I attended here on and off from 1999-2012. I learned how to teach step aerobics from the greatest fitness instructor imo Verna Lewis. I took many general ed classes as well as a few paralegal courses and a ton of fitness classes as well. The campus is beautiful, many bathrooms with free sanitary napkins if needed, the vending machines are reasonably priced. The classes are very fair priced. I recently finished my second Technical degree for Metal Fabrication as a returning student. I delayed going back to school for years for lots of reasons, but mostly because I thought it would be as awful of an experience as High School was. Instead the teachers in my program were excellent. I was always challenged by the projects and supported in my learning in equal measure. If you're looking to get into welding or Metal Fabrication, these programs are career fields that need people, pay well, and you can learn them here! Don't sleep on the trade skills that can be taught here. Go to the open houses, see if these are things you're interested in doing. A 4 year degree isn't The guarantee of employment it used to be, but these one year Technical degrees, leading to in demand fields are.Travis H

Very nice tech college. Almost everyone you come across on campus can point you in the right direction. I just started school today online. But tomorrow I get to go to campus. It's a clean sanitary environment. There is currently some remodeling going on, so part of the building you cannot access… yet! AC was on, felt awesome. temperature didn't change much room to room either. All the employees seem to know their job very well and are willing to help. I chose Madison Area Technical College because I know many people that have graduated and successfully got into a job they wanted. This school is also smaller than UW Madison so I feel like the learning experience is better, more hands on, more participation versus a large school such as UW Madison.Shane Toycen

The good profs here are all just professors moonlighting from UW Madison, I'd honestly say you should apply to and go to literally any other UW system school before here. The quality of education isn't bad- but they somehow managed to misplace finances and put 650 bucks into collections randomly – without mailing me any notifications, and without a notifications on the online portal. You won't get competency from any of the administrative staff, expect 5 week long waits to see a counselor for any sort of urgent need. If you are a student with a disability – make sure you have additional copies of any medical documentation, they will claim to lose it. Most of the education staff despises the administrative staff and yeah, I can see why.Bee

The administration does not care about you. They do not care if you are a student or an employee, they do not care about you. They do not care about your kids, they do not care about the job you have to work on the weekend to make ends meet. The top administration will continue to rake in money for themselves and make sure they’re providing both employees and students with as little as they possibly can. All you are is either potential money or potential labor. You are a commodity to be used to the benefit of people you don’t even know. The highest paid are coiffed and in state owned vehicles while the people that actually work with the students wonder if they’ll have enough money for food.Leann Cooper

The entire art department is a joke. Calhoun has crippled its own photography program by getting rid of the best studio photography teacher it has probably ever had just because he didn't have a degree yet he's been a professional working photographer for about 30 years. Calhoun has a bad history of hiring people to teach that don't do their job. The dean and the underlings don't care if you have a problem if it affects their staff. Calhoun is famous for minimizing the parking spaces despite the rising number of students attending each year. The financial aid department is worthless too. I'm transferring to Wallace State instead of going back to Calhoun to earn my degree.BringPopcorn

What I love about Calhoun is that they want to make sure you know how to do. Hands down Calhoun is one of the be places to study IT in the state. The classes are small enough that you are able to get hands on training and your taught by instructors who work in the field. Not someone who is good at taking test and decided to teach. The only complaint I have is that Calhoun should try to improve the student experience more. It's hard to accomplish considering most students are only there 1-2 years but there should be more university sponsored events live movie nights, dances, etc.Christoper J

In a time when unique challenges presented themselves, the College of Eastern Idaho dug in. There was never a question of whether the demanding conditions would stop students from getting their education, it was only a question of what needed to happen to make sure that they did. CEI faculty and staff, under the care of an amazing administration, simply rolled up their sleeves and got it done. The learning curve for adapting to a pandemic was wrangled by the brute force of amazing minds aligned towards a goal. These lengths taken were never about self-preservation, it was always about the students. It is, perhaps, that CEI has the mindset of success. It may be that there is only one direction to move when a challenge presents itself in our community. It is, perhaps, the way our community moves towards taking care of each other. The CEI family is healthy, strong and vibrant. The CEI family fits well in our community as a result of an ability to match its environment. I'm really proud to live and work in this community. Nice and clean campus seems to be well organized, the technical department seems very organized with all the tools and the training necessary to be prepared for my job. The campus was so clean and so organized that I think I will sign my wife up so she can start classes in the fall. We even showed up before classes were to supposed to start, and the security guard was good about letting us in, it was pretty cold, I hope somebody checked on him cuz he had to walk what seems like miles just to come open the door for us. 😁Ryan Archibald

Amazing staff, scholarship opportunities I never even thought possible and resource s to help you live your life in and outside of school. These people and this place has changed my life! They have helped me get my GED and have constantly given me the courage and the ability to be proud of myself…and now I am on my way to getting my 2 year associates degree in science. If I had another option I would never go to this university. They preach all of these wonderful things but when it comes down to action, they show none of it. Their system that is supposed to help students get their classes organized and keep them on the right track works, but only if you need absolutely no help. I was a second away from getting a lawyer before I actually recieved any kind of direction or assistance. Come to find that there are other people I know that have similar stories of having been given no help and shrugged off or just tossed an answer that is not helpful at all. Had my father not gone to the Dean my degree would have been stunted. It would have taken another 1-2 years to complete with the advice given to me by a secretary that refused to tell me anyone I could go to for assistance. She rather throw my EXCUSED medical absence (which I have only ever had one, and it was to have my daughter) in my face as a reason to show my incompetence and that my lack of help was MY fault. Had it not been for my parents support I probably would have dropped out due to the neglect and disrespect that I have been give from the people at this university. Not to mention they put someone in charge of a girls sports team who had been previously charged at their university with sexual assault. I have so many more examples from others around me that have had similar issues and have been ignored or bounced around from person to person when asking for academic advice or help.Tessa M

Love YSU. While this college has a lot to offer and is exceptionally friendly to ppl with disabilities I wish the department I am studying at was bigger. We only have 3 professors and unfortunately one of them is so ineffective I had to repeat every one of his classes. I learned more from my tutors in his classes than from the professor himself. Head professor is cool and extremely helpful. Also the equipment we use other than the computers are horribly out of date, built and used since the 60s and 70s. Unfortunately due to life circumstances I have to move out of state. Hopefully the next school will be just as rich as YSU and has a bigger department with up to date technology.Imperfect Xennial

YSU is such a quiet and peaceful place to go to school at. Sometimes I liked to just sit on the grass under a tree and listen to the birds and the wind as life just passed me by. The buildings are a complex maze of twists and turns that will leave your head feeling like you just entered the twilight zone, and while some students are rather rude the majority of them are extremely kind hearted. I personally feel that the school could use with a better organization system, slightly more thought out staff and faculty, but other than that it is a very amazing place to learn.Reynard Louernia

Veteran Review: I attended COTC and graduated with an Associates in Nursing. I can say that it was very cumbersome to attend COTC as a veteran. I utilized my Tuition assistance and needed to "push them along" the entire way. Every semester I had to contact veterans affairs and tell them what I needed them to do to approve TA. My understanding is that they needed prompted in every way and every time I needed something completed to allow me access to my tuition assistance. This includes having to pay for a semester out of pocket do to their delay in assistance and lack of ability to complete my necessary needs on their own. From my understanding, they should understand this. I am currently attempting to apply for my bachelors 2 semesters later and I am unable to receive tuition assistance, because COTC has not submitted my graduated status to TA and I am unable to attend classes as a consequence to said incident. All said and done: If you are a veteran, be prepared to coax COTC along to get what you need.SSG Ben Moran RN

I had a very close immediate relative die during summer semester. When my immediate relative had a stroke, I did not notify my professors on the matter. Sorry, my thoughts are not on telling my online professors about my relative bleeding in the brain. My time was spent in the hospital, hospice, and at work. I missed a few assignments but notified my professors at my earliest convenience. The work was completed. Professor Sample for PSY-210-NA failed me on multiple assignments, accused me of plagiarizing from a blog, and is the reason I will not be graduating this semester from COTC. The plagiarizing accusation is because I had "similar sentences of a blog post." What a joke. Never take a class as Professor Sample as your professor. Do yourself a favor and just go to a different school. I will NOT be going back there. President Coe and other faculty members at COTC I contacted did not help in any matter. Of course, they took the side of Professor Sample.Adam A

I… HATE… COTC! Its the nightmare that will never end. My husband leaves for the military in one week… His recruiter needs his college transcript, so that he can get a higher ranking, more pay and one of the jobs he wants. All he needs is the transcript. We went in on the 22nd and paid extra to have the transcript sent. They told us they would send it out that day or the next. Well today we saw his recruiter and he STILL hasn't received the transcript. We went into COTC and had to talk to them AGAIN about this. Oh did I forget to mention that when my husband first started seeing his recruiter, he paid extra to have his transcript and then they handed it to my husband, therefore making it unacceptable to the Air Force. This is not even close to the first problem either of us has had with them. Oh, maybe you all should check out there 'graduation rate.' Less than 20 percent of people even graduate! We actually don't visit the college but the bay that's right beside the college. We are from Illinois and every vacation we come to this area. I'm not sure what the name of the bay area is but it's always easy to locate because of nearness to the college. My grandkids love coming here and I feel they are safe because the water is pretty shallow till about 20 feet out which gives them opportunities to wade and look for sand crabs. The college itself reminds me of my hometown college. Not too big and well designed. I like the fact it's spread over the block area. Cozy campus feeling, not intimidating for new freshman.Deni Davis

I feel like this school is robbing my GI benefits by telling me I “need” a class, then the next semester they tell me I didn’t need the class. I have 49 credit hours but was just told that 16 of those were ones I didn’t need. How is that possible? Even the VA approved of the classes, but now all of a sudden they are classes I didn’t need. And now I have to take another semester at GCSC when this whole summer I thought I was graduating after fall semester 😭Nikki Head

This college is student focused. It's a great addition to the area. It allows students from the area to stay local and obtain useful and profitable degrees without having the high cost of leaving the area. Scholarships are available for every Bay, Gulf or Franklin County students. Ask about the Gulf Coast Guarantee Scholarship.Caroline Windham

I went to Delaware County Community College part time for four years after high school. It's one of the best decisions I ever made. I really didn't know what I wanted to do right out of high school and I didn't want to go to a super expensive university and still not be sure. I started out with general studies. I just finished my Liberal Arts associate's degree there this past spring. I enjoyed my time at this school. I got to take a lot of different classes to really figure out what I like and what I dislike, and it's way more affordable to do that here. The campus is beautiful, especially the STEM center. There's lots of helpful services and the professors I had were great. I'm now transfering to another school to study graphic design and I feel like DCCC helped me get on the right track. I would highly recommend this school to everyone!Natalie Cellini

The cost isn't horrible and the classes are similar to classes offered by four year universities. The problems I have lie with the administration (financial aid, career center, cashier office.) They do not know how to deal with students in a timely, concise manner. I was unable to get in and complete a single course for the last two years due to administrative problems, even though I had been with them previously. I would recommend having another school lined up in case you find yourself in the same boat.Akiba Perry

I went here from fresh out of high school from 2016-2019 and graduated there with my associates. Such a Beautiful campus and I had a very great experience at DCCC, I’ve had some pretty good professors during my time there although some did seem to only be there for a check. During my time here I was also in the KEYS program and they have such wonderful staff very helpful and friendly. They have a nice library and the food in the cafeteria is really good too.Nicole Flood
