20 Best Summer Programs In New Haven, CT (2022 Updated)

This place is a perfect example of “you get what you pay for”. I attended September 2009 – May 2018 (with a 3 year gap from 2012-2015). The hospitality teachers and department head were wonderful, and a lot of my general Ed teachers were amazing too and I have nothing but great things to say about the teachers. However, the registrar office and academic advisors were a nightmare to deal with. No one ever smiles, my message NEVER got relayed to the right person, and it was such a headache to deal with offices equivalent to dealing with the DMV. They also claimed that when you graduate you can transfer your credits to a state college which is false. Some of the credits transferred, but classes like Math don’t transfer and I have to take a placement test to get into the same exact math class I took at Gateway and passed the class with an A. The bookstore staff was the most incapable, rude, useless group of people. Graduation was a completely unorganized joke – they told graduates to arrive 2 hours early to stand in a parking lot with no instruction and 1 porta potty for about 300 people. They also only announce 1 of your degrees – so if you have 3 degrees they won’t even take the extra 5 seconds to announce all 3 (I thought graduation was supposed to recognize your achievements?) I would have never wasted my time going to graduation if I knew how pathetic it would be. Parking on campus in New Haven was crazy and the lot constantly overflows into the Temple Street lot so you get to walk in stairways that smell like urine with bums roaming the lot and drunk people stumbling to their car after your class at 9:30 at night with no security guards to get to your car. Literally no security whatsoever like your completely on your own in a public lot in the heart of New Haven. Like most schools, they don’t allow weapons inside the building so you don’t even have a way to defend yourself if you get approached in the lot which will happen at some point. There were also hospitality classes that I had to buy things out of pocket and was promised reimbursement that never happened.Nina Tiso

I loved working with the children in the Early Learning Center, but the adults in the classroom didn't really treat me that well. They didn't really accommodating me that well when it came to tasks such as setting the table for breakfast,lunch, and snack. A coworker got nasty because I wasnt moving fast enough for her. I'm visually impaired and I have to take my time because of my vision. I had to complain about this coworker 2 times. Another thing that didnt make sense was I had to walk to the other side of campus to eat lunch for my 30 minute break. The teacher of the classroom would get mad at me for being late because I am a slow eater and I cant move fast again because of my bad vision. student teachers aren't allowed to eat in the teachers lounge. I shouldn't have had to complain to my boss about eating in the teacher lounge. This place needs to be more accommodating to student teachers with disabilities and staff needs to be more compassionate. I am very glad that I don't work at this place anymore! Beautiful atmosphere. I was in their old building on Long wharf years ago, and seeing how they've grown and progressed into what I consider a university now, is life changing for the people attending this college. For a community college, they offer so much for the students with assistance as well as their educational endeavors. Their cafe offers delicious varieties which includes a wide range of healthy choices. Very inviting environment for the students to learn in. I went here for my first two years of college. Here's what I've noticed. – The people here are great, for the most part. – UNH emphasizes on a welcoming environment – There's always new development like the Bergami center which is a very nice looking building. – I lived in Westside and Winchester halls. Both are good! – I was in Engineering which I struggled in, but when I changed my major to accounting I had no struggle. – I just really wish UNH was more helpful with finance and mental health. – They were WAY too strict with Covid. Yes, I understand the dangers, but we're adults you have to remember. They threatened to suspend if you violate rules, even accidentally. They also quarantined my entire hall in 2020 just because one student got covid. I really didn't believe they had to be that harsh. – They were also TERRIBLE with communication when moving in for my 2nd year (because of covid), and I had to spend a month trying to figure out when to move in. – The Accessibility resources center is a good place, but once they forbid me from using a calculator on a chemistry exam in March of 2020. Everybody but the ARC staff thought that was terrible. – Their math department was terrible. The professors meant well, but it was not taught in an interesting way. – On a positive note, they are fantastic at safety. In January of 2021 I got cyberbullied by someone in the school who made threats including a death threat. The ResLife dept. handled it very well and the police took it very seriously and found the guy doing it, someone who I thought was a friend. He was suspended. Overall, UNH is not perfect, but their heart is in the right place. I didn't leave for any of these reasons listed, that's another story entirely. But if you are Nick, Chris, Lucas, Antonia, Victoria, Makayla, Jenna, Galianna, Alexa, or Patrick, I miss you!James Shewan

I attended UNH between spring 2019 and January 2021 (two years) as a transfer, and earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice (Investigative Services Concentration). I am giving this school 3 stars because excluding a very good academic experience, there were too many low moments I experienced at UNH for me to give this review more stars. These low moments range from lack of opportunities for commuter students (which is what I was for 3/4 semesters), existing social circles that prevent prospective students from feeling any sense of belonging, the school's fostering and promotion of the word "LatinX", and other things. (Mainly because I am a Latino/Hispanic male originally from South America, and don't see how the word is applicable to the Central/South American community). The pandemic did affect the college experience in spring 2020, but my experience was already going downhill well before this. For these reasons, I feel as though this was an era of my life that never happened. Above all, I find it difficult to talk about this era and school in more positive (than negative) ways. I do recommend this school for my degree. My professors did an excellent job of teaching me. But it all does come at a cost because setbacks or letdowns (described above) can quickly affect a student's experience. Likewise, I am considering graduate school here because my professional job search opened my eyes to how graduate degrees are becoming the new standard for the U.S workforce. The beauty of this school is not just about the academic excellence and great facilities, but the diversity; it’s almost as if every nationality is represented here. Everyone is friendly from the students to the academic staffers, non-academic staffers, to the school security operatives. When I visited this school I observed wheelchair accessibility is greatly adhered to in this institution. I also noticed there’s a 24/7 Wells Fargo Bank ATM point on this campus. Consequently, you will always have access to cash. When you school here you also get to enjoy the magnificence of New Haven, West Haven and most of all New York City, since it’s just less than an hour ride with your car or via the Metro-North Train. Although my professors have been awesome, the university as a whole is horribly disorganized and mismanaged. The various staff of different departments are uniformly rude and uninformed. I've gotten wrong and/or misleading information on basic protocol literally EVERY SINGLE TIME I've spoken with someone (where do I submit work study requests? Can I still carry student insurance if I'm part-time?) Regarding the insurance, I was told "yes" by 2 different pople. HOWEVER, the answer to that is it's automatically cancelled when you register online for classes and it is received as part-time, so then you have to re-enroll as a new client at a higher rate. I found this out when I was trying to fill a prescription and after much investigation found out that my insurance had been cancelled. This is one of the MANY problems I've experienced with Southern administration. Equally as faulty, is the technology "services" that Southern uses. Windows 7 computers in the computer labs that take (no joke) 5-20 mins to log you on if there are more than 3 people in the room and remote printing that requires an installation on your laptop every time you want to use it. This is recommend since you'll otherwise sit for 20 mins for the lab computer to log on and then progress to opening and printing a file at the speed of dial-up. If you need to reach anyone (computing services, the bookstore) for questions, you'll be strained to find contact info outside of the (203)392-SCSU main office number. A detailed Google search rarely finds the phone numbers associated with specific offices. Most recently, for the past month as Southern has started the fall semester, their network has become so overloaded that the mail server periodically un-syncs all of my devices from their email (iPhone, Mac) so I don't get mail or know that an email I sent never actually sent, since it doesn't appear in ANY outbox or draft folder from any device. But since it happens off-and-on, as the SCSU network comes and goes as it pleases, I've not known about the missed emails until someone tells about a group email I missed. Lastly, and kinda most importantly, Southern's crap internet system occasionally doesn't recognize my password for Bannerweb, email, and Blackboard. Confoundingly, this doesn't occur on these applications all in one sitting. MANY TIMES I've sat and typed my password into Blackboard 5+ times and magically after repeated entries it suddenly works!!! Always had the same problem logging into "myscsu" and trying to get my email back online to the Southern server. Recommendation: If you're enrolling as a full-time undergraduate, I would HIGHLY recommend looking for a school elsewhere because you're DEFINITELY not getting your money's worth at this institution. Note: they also have no funding for student work study anymore, so don't count on that for extra money/tuition expenses. If you're taking classes part-time, for a job or continuing education, it will be a frustrating experience, but not a total waste of money. Botton line, I rated 2 stars because the professors and experiences with classmates have been awesome this past year, but the university as a whole is beyond frustrating.Jennifer Vollmer

im usually not the type of person to be negative and leave lengthy reviews but this is so necessary being that im so extremely disappointed with this school! I went for a tour in November of 2017 fell in love with the campus so I decided to apply as a transfer student in April of 2018! I sent in my fee waiver form April 20th I was told it takes 2-3weeks to hear back from the school, ok cool! here it is a MONTH later still no response, nor any communication to even let me know they've received my fee waiver form and that id be hearing from them soon or whatever the case may be just complete silence!!! not to mention the students that answer the phone are very rude and snappy! I withdrew my application and applied to Iona college! I applied with them got an acceptance letter, got my financial situation settled, paid my deposit all within a week, easy as 1,2,3 as it SHOULD be. Its an excellent school with a countless number of awards, i feel as though the process of applying to schools should be as easy and stress free as possible! Im extremely dissatisfied with my experience with this school it literally had everything I was looking for campus wise, but everything happens for a reason and being that Im going into the education field I've been told from numerous amounts of educators that im better off getting a job, with a degree from Iona under my belt. The purpose of this review is not to trash talk or to persuade anyone into not applying here but rather to allow others to be aware of what they may possibly come into contact with when applying to this school and perhaps a change can come about for the next student. : ) Blessings.Alexa Griffin

If I could give Southern zero stars I absolutely would. They are extremely unorganized, they don't care about you as a student AT ALL.. They cancelled a BIO class that I really needed a week before classes start. I emailed the head of the department asking for a solution and all I got was a too bad.. Now because of this I have to attend an extra semester and will not be graduating in time.. They offer classes at odd times which makes it hard for you to sign up for classes back to back, so far the professors I had don't care about you and are not understanding.. I graduated from Western Connecticut and I never had a problem with them and now because of Southern I have to spend more of my time and money that I don't have…Barbara Monteiro

Wow – that guy Turner is everywhere, isn't he? I seem to see Turner paintings everywhere I go, and they never disappoint. Aside from the fiery, ethereal depictions of stormy seas and calm harbors painted by Turner, you will find an astounding collection of British portraiture here, especially from the 18th century. The zenith of the British Academical school, combining classical techniques with a lightly airy and even Rococo sensibility, can be found here. There's also more modern art here, which isn't really my thing, but I respect the creativity. The museum itself is elegant and spacious. I highly recommend coming here.Joshua Fagan

So I came here towards the end of 2021 and while it’s small and was able to get through it fairly quickly, it was still worth the time. The staff was very nice and there is a lot of good artwork from the British. Pair this with the university art gallery and it’s a great day of art. And it’s free. Which is a great reason to go. Largest collection of British art outside of the U.K.. Great lay out. Broken down by important periods in British history. One can traverse the building easily from one floor to the next without the aid of any visual guide. Good trip for a family. Exhibits can be enjoyed by all ages. No admission fee. Multiple trips can be had, providing different perspective and appreciation for the arts.Credible Critic

Two of our kids have attended Hopkins and we are blown away by the rigor and scholarly seriousness of the school. The kids are engaged in college-level work by the end of sophomore year and the faculty are really plugged in to each kid. There are other great schools in the U.S. but I would put Hopkins up against any of them. Kai Bynum, the recently appointed Head of School is a rock star.Patrick Fitzsimonds

Where do I even begin? This camp feels like home! I went to this camp for my first time ever going to camp last summer. Even during COVID-19, it was a blast!! All of the counselors I met last year were so welcoming and open minded. The friends I made along the way are amazing. I loved the Cabin Mates and Counselors I had last year. Family style meals were the best! Showers were sooo fun! The LED shower heads and music were a great addition to the showers. The showers were very short, but the music and singing made it seem longer. I would totally recommend this camp to anyone who is looking for a new one. I will be returning for my 2nd year at Hazen on the 26th of June in a few weeks. Overall, one of the best times of my life so far!skylar furman

I FREAKING LOVED IT HERE!!!!!!!!!!!! I really love how all of the counselors and kids are very kind and understanding, I got along with everybody. Don't even get me started on how awesome the OLYMPICS are, even though my team lost by 19 points I STILL had an awesome time! We love Camp Hazen. We’ve been going to family camp on Labor Day and Memorial Day weekends for 12 years. Those weekends together have bonded us as a family. The wholesome atmosphere is refreshing and there are so many different activities we love coming back! Our 15 year old son has gone to the resident camp for 6 years. The counselors are great role models and Our son will apply to the Leadership Program next summer. We have only wonderful things to say about this very special camp!!!Jen DiManno

For anyone raised in New Haven or with family raised in New Haven this is a great place to visit. There is a library you can go to and make an appointment to explore your family's history. It was awesome seeing the old maps and there was a lot to see there it's definitely worth it there are days where they are free. Just checking to it!Deb C

The museum has everything you wanna know about New Haven County's history. Alot to see, me and my 12 year old son spent 3 hours and the time flew by. We appreciated what they had to offer for the public. And the 1st Sunday of the month is free admission so we just donated a few dollars in the box near the entrance.Stephen Trajeski

Beautiful area for a walk. The Mill River, which flows through the Whitney Armory site is on its way to Long Island Sound, has played a crucial role in its history. Eli Whitney, Sr. came to the site in 1798 specifically in order to use the water's power for running machinery; sixty-two years later his son turned the river into the first public water supply for the city of New Haven. For some decades thereafter, the river continued to provide power not only for the Armory's machinery, but also for pumping its own water into the network of pipes reaching New Haven's buildings and hydrants. Eventually it gave way, as a power source, to steam engines and electric motors, but it continues to this day to supply water for the city. The low dam and waterwheels that Eli Whitney, Sr. installed made possible the Whitney Armory with its adjacent small settlement, Whitneyville. Like many another New England water-privilege site, but unlike the larger planned waterpower complexes such as Lowell or Holyoke in Massachusetts, the community remained of modest size. Constrained in large part by the natural limits on its water power, Whitneyville did not grow into an industrial city, but led him first in the 1840s to replace the waterwheels with hydraulic turbines, the latest advance in waterpower technology, and then to make the dam five times higher in 1860. The other purpose of this move – to form Lake Whitney as the as the first reservoir for the New Haven Water Company – was what paid for the construction of the dam we see at the site today. The creation of Lake Whitney in turn prevented further industrial development at waterpower sites upstream – by flooding them – thus leaving the Armory as southern Hamden's only industrial site until a later era.M QM

It was my first time at the museum. I was very excited for my son to make a boat to float in the water lab. We arrived a little after 10 and the water lab was off. We went inside and made a boat. The person working the museum said he would ask to have it tuned on. So we finished our boat and paid 8$ for it. Took it out and the lab was still not on… so I went back in and asked if I misunderstood him. He said he’d ask again to have it turned on. We went out and waited about 15 more minutes. At that point I was irritated and over it. So we paid 8$ for a little boat for no reason. I don’t think I’ll be back. They clearly don’t care about the kids having fun. My son was sad and cried as we left. There aren’t many places where kids can play outside like this and I was really looking forward to it. I probably won’t come back though. 🙁 Visited on

I'm rating the grounds, not the museum itself as I've never actually been inside, nor have I seen it open. This is a beautiful place to go if you're looking for a nice place to walk! Just behind the museum the trail begins inside of an old covered bride that crosses a small river. There is a huge waterfall, a serene lake you can fish in or walk across using a small bridge that connects one side to the other. Despite being directly on Whitney Avenue it's pretty quiet and gives you the feeling of being tucked away in the woods somewhere. The grounds sit at the base of East Rock so you can easily hike up from the museum to the summit. I've never been able to find any trail markings so you've got to sort that out on your own, but it's doable.Mallory

I was looking for a school to send my 10 year old daughter who loves acting, singing and dancing and was lucky to find New Haven Academy of Performing Arts! She has been involved for only a few weeks now and absolutely loves it! My daughter is working with Stephani and Mr. Neil and cannot say enough great things about them. It makes me so happy to hear all of the great things that she tells our family and friends about NHAPA. Yesterday my daughter participated in the Halloween Spooktacular which was an incredible event. It was thoughtful, creative, fun, interactive and so much more than other productions that my daughter has participated in with other organizations. My husband and I were actually surprised, in a very good way, and we highly recommend NHAPA. If Billy, Stephani or Mr. Neil read this please know that our family gives each of you 5 stars as well. My son, has been going to New Haven Academy of Performing Arts (NHAOPA), for years n there is no other place I could EVER imagine sending him!! The teachers are absolutely whole-hearted, genuine n go above and beyond for the children! We started with summer camp n it has grown into more! Singing, acting n the very BEST part, is my son (n so many other children) feel that NHAOPA, TRULY is home away from home!! I have NEVER felt so unbelievably grateful that not only is my son learning so much but, he has gained so many friends!! I have NHAOPA to thank for that because they teach the children to support each other, build each other up, help each other, enjoy n have a blast working together!! Our daughter joined the summer camp program 3 years ago, the experience was so amazing that she did not want to leave. We have watched her grow in confidence and talent each year while developing friendships that have supported and encouraged her every step of the way. We were feeling overwhelmed as our oldest daughter approached the upcoming SAT. We went to an info session with Bulldog Tutors and felt like they really understand the process. We signed our daughter up for 6 weeks of prep. Today we are on the other side of the SAT and I asked my daughter if she felt the prep was worth it and she said yes, absolutely. She could hear Nick's voice in her head helping her with problems. He gave her strategies for figuring out tricky problems and for taking the test. What can I say, I am proud to be part of the Rock House family and music community John and Cathy McCarthy have established. Our 6-year-old daughter joined the “Little Rockers” group in September 2016 exploring the basics of vocals, drums, and guitar. Not a full year has gone by and I can’t get over how much she has already learned; and the best part is, she is having fun! In addition to the weekly lessons, we love attending Open Mic Nights at the West Haven Community House. The entire Rock House team provides an opportunity for amazing talent to shine front and center. The monthly event is a great way for kids to be with their peers and share their love of music with the community. Wow! My son is 12 and has been doing various camps since he was 6 years old. This band camp by far was his all time favorite! He has been taking lessons with Chuck and improved quickly in one month. Band camp really inspired him to play more. Working with the other band members made him realize how important practicing is. The counselors passion resonated throughout all the kids. It showed during their concert at the end of the week! Dominic and Chris were amazing and my son was grateful to learn and spend the week with them. If you are looking for any type of music lesson, Rock House is the best place to go!! John and Cathy are the nicest people and the school has amazing instructors. My son takes vocal lessons with Kevin and guitar with Adam and he has made amazing progress. They all truly care for their students and have open mic nights every month so the students can showcase their talents. My son's band was formed at Rock House and with their help they have gotten gigs and have really become great performers.Analiese

Best martial arts school you could ever be a part of. Ronin BJJ has a different environment compared to other training facilities; clean mats, friendly and fun atmosphere, respectful, no egos, and the instruction you get is the best you will find. It's rare to find instructors that will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, make sure you understand the techniques, and who don't play favorites; our instructors genuinely care about every single one of us and our development. Their knowledge is beyond anything you will find in any school around; after every class, and every roll, you learn more than you though possible; and that's because Lu is always improving his own game and helping us improve ours. I have trained in different schools before, and none of them had instructors like Luis Figueroa and Andrew Spinnato. I guarantee there is no other school quite like Ronin BJJ. I dropped by for a class on my way down from Boston to NY. This is a great place to train. It is very clean and neat, and has high ceilings so you never run out of air, it does not even smell like a gym. The instructions were very detailed and complete, I picked up quite a bit of information for just one class. Class had students ranging from 100 pounds to 200+, from white belt to brown, both male a female, this quite unique. If you are ever in the area, you must check it out.Pasha Benenson

I just went and dropped in for the Saturday open mat while in the area. The facility was in a very cool warehouse turned into individual suites. Right after walking in early, I was invited by the head instructor to drill with him and a student. It was a great gym and I can’t recommend it enough. My son had his 7th birthday party at the dojo and in his words it was amazing, great, the best birthday party he said, he ever had and I agree. Master Kim and his staff and other instructors Master Chase Master Henny were patient inspiring and pretty cool, and Master Chase demonstration had my son doing sticks all night. Master Kim's explosive kick breaking I dont know how many boards, was the talk of my home…Another highlight my son talked about to anyone who would listen, was cutting his birthday cake with Master Kim's sword…..priceless was my sons smile…….Thanks to allSean Varo

My son attends classes here. He LOVES it. Master Kim creates a very healthy community of boys, girls, men, women. The entire staff and terrific administrators make you feel welcome every time you're there. The classes are well taught by all the Masters. My son has gained some much about both Tae Kwon Do and respect and discipline. It's a well rounded, positive experience. Highly recommended.Chuck Doerrler

My son has been taking classes this past year and LOVES every minute. He recently completed the camp session during school break and was having so much fun every day that he cried at pick up. I am only leaving one star because the instructor was nice. That was the only good thing. I don't want to elaborate on all the details, but take your business elsewhere! For what you pay here, or even less, you can take a class that is MUCH more fun with multiple engaging and fun instructor's that give excellent instructions every step of the way! A completely different environment that is actually fun rather than boring and receive a complimentary glass of wine and water. I've never been to one before this one that didn't offer that especially due to the price. If it has something to do with covid they could either work around it, or adjust the price!! If your going for the first time or taking someone for their first experience DON'T bring them here because it may be a big let down! My experience here was not what paint and sip's are really like elsewhere. And I brought a party of people who had never been to one before so it was very disappointing. Go to Hartford's blue back square, it'll be the same price but 100 times better, or even somewhere in Southington, Middletown, Wallingford. There are so many studio's, I wouldn't recommend this one unfortunately. I have never left a bad review anywhere but I don't want others to waste their time and money, especially during these times. I would like to say that again, the instructor was friendly and maybe she's a student that needs more education. I'm not sure, but much better experiences elsewhere!!!Casey Jones

I'm new to the area and signed up for the Paint Your Pet class. I was nervous because 1) I didn't know anyone else and 2) I've never painted before. I had an amazing time! The instructor was SO nice and made me feel like a friend, and she also connected everyone in the studio so I met more cool people. PLUS I am SO impressed with how my painting turned out. I'm not super artistic so I'm thrilled and so surprised I was able to make such a great painting of my dog. It turned out great thanks to Art Plus! Recommend 100% I will definitely be going again!McKenzie Chapman

I love Sip 'n' Paint places (I mean what's not to love?! Wine and art combined = AWESOME) and this place is my favorite! And I've been to quite a few. The teachers are so patient and the paintings are gorgeous! You can tell the artists really care about their work and creating beautiful paintings! Their passion is inspiring! Visitors center of the University of Yale. Next to the campus and in an old wooden house. Open most of the day, provides information and assistance to all visitors. They have a small exhibition about this university and also organise free tours. We took the 1:30pm one on a Sat and it was very informative. The girl doing the tour was a student and she was very informative and passionate. Tour takes you around the campus whilst you learn about the history of this institution. The campus is amazing and a delight to see. The U.S version of Oxford!G Fernández

I started here my tour of Yale. Coincidentally, just launched a (free) guide by students from Yale. So I got a good insight into the history and allowed some glimpses behind the scenes (e.g. the accommodation of students) . After this hour I went with the campus map on my own around and looked at the departments from outside. The University recalls me leave a bit at the Free University of Berlin. A nice attraction located in the center of the city that offers free Yale campus tours from college students. Definitely a great way to learn and tour the campus. We saw many buildings on campus and learned a lot of cool history. Definitely a must see while in town.j hwang

Funiture gallery, small merchandise, boxed furniture ready to take home, a full-service Cafe & Bistro, a children's play area, a frozen food area, and probably so much more I have not discovered yet! This place is like its own shopping mall! To start there's two floors to a store that feel like, after walking through most of the store, something as vast as an actual shopping mall. On the top floor there's the Cafe with plenty of options for meals at a decent price and a wonderful view! After that there is the everchanging showroom with different styles every month or so with a lot of passion & creativity behind it all! Practically every room of the house is visualized in its own way, and it's a great area to get some inspiration for your next project! Once you get to the end of the showroom, downstairs is where all of the small merchandise is. Well-stocked, well laid-out, vibrant, and clean! The carts are a joy to use as all 4 wheels turn, and the cart feels surprisingly comfortable to use. Finally, the furniture warehouse has everything you need to literally pick up, checkout, and go! There's also a clearance section here which has some odds and ends. Afterwards, beyond the self-checkout, you'll find the frozen food section, as well as another food stand! I didn't get to experience the downstairs stand as I caught it closed. Overall, this was an absolute joy to walk through, and it made my inner child happy! The staff here are nothing short of phenomenal, and willing to help, especially if you get lost in the depths of the maze well beyond the Escalator!Emma Karg

Great things and Bad things It is really nice to have IKEA in New Haven. The cafeteria is clean and food is reasonable (Swedish meatballs are $6.99 now. It used to be half that price not too long ago). And there are CHOICES of merchandise and you can roam all you want! Parking is also easy and is a delight. I love it. Then, you need to get out of there with the merchandise! Although there are so many employees floating around, there is always a long line to endure, and through the cashiers who are none too happy to be there. This seems to happen no matter the time and day I go there. If it is a busy weekend, there are enough lines opened so that you have to wait for somewhere between 5 to 15 minutes to get out. They will not open all the lines available. See photo 2. If you go when there is almost nobody there, you see one line and the wait is the same. See photo 1. By the way, the line is just as long in the self-help line with people trying to avoid the long cashier line. This almost seems like a store policy. I am genuinely curious. Most of the time I opt to purchase the item from Amazon. I am glad to see that some IKEA items are popping up on Amazon.Sara

I bought a Kitchen island from the IKEA store in New Haven, CT. I took the kit home and began the assembly process. While doing this, I damaged a part – one of the side panels, a major component. I called the support line, explained the problem, and asked if I could get a replacement for just that part as everything else was okay. The representative that I spoke with was very friendly and knowledgeable. She said they would replace the part for no charge since my wife belonged to IKEA Family. She also asked if I wanted to pick up the replacement part at the store or have it shipped to my home. Since I live several hours away from the store I asked to have it shipped. There was no charge for the shipping. It came a few days later and everything worked out fine. The final product turned out to be of excellent quality and exactly what I needed. I was amazed at the quick response time. I called on Saturday, the following Monday was a holiday, and the part arrived on Wednesday. I would highly recommend IKEA products and the New Haven store.
