I have to admit, after being accepted to the Master's program early in 2014 I was nervous attending graduate school. I was unsure of what type of situations I would encounter, and what type of curriculum I would face. After the first day of orientation, I knew that the University of Bridgeport was the best choice for me. The staff and professors in my department are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The classes I have taken have not only improved educational leadership qualities, but have also helped improve my mathematical prowess. Although the classes may seem difficult at time, my professors demonstrated an excellent balance in challenging students while holding their interest. I have created many long lasting friendships as well with the students in my program. In concurrence with our education progress, we find ourselves continuously engaging in a sort of fellowship that I have not experienced elsewhere. In essence, the phrase "work hard, play harder" seems fitting. We have fun in class, and we get to work when we need to. I find that my professors are equally as entertained as my fellow students, helping to aid in the maintenance of the positive climate in the classrooms. If anyone reading this is nervous or unsure of their decision to attend the University of Bridgeport, as someone who previously felt the same way I offer the following advice: don't be. This is a phenomenal University with amazing programs and a delightful professional staff. They will help guide you to success by any means necessary. If you put the work in, keep a positive attitude, and remember to have fun, I promise you that the University of Bridgeport won't let you down.Philip Abraham

I am currently a freshman at UB almost finishing my first semester, I am majoring in the health sciences and hopefully 4 years from now I will be doing my masters in Chiropractic. I came to America all the way from Indonesia, I studied at an international school so I have met people from many different countries and cultures, UB made me feel like I never left that sense of living in an international environment because of all the diverse cultures that you find here. Professors, Students and Staff are very open and very supportive if you need any help and the fact that UB is a very small school makes it a better sense of community among students. Classes are good and challenging, resources are provided if in the need of help just like tutoring or counseling. I had the chance to make many close friends in just a few months from different backgrounds, friends that have become a second family to me. As a current undergraduate student studying International Political Economy and Diplomacy (IPED), I've had nothing short of a wonderful experience at UB. I can only speak for my major, but I love my program. Most of my classes are engaging, and my teachers are always available to talk and answer questions outside of class which is much appreciated. The thing that I love most about UB is the diversity. Especially studying in a internationally focused major, there's a huge difference in talking about events throughout the world, and actually hearing a first person perspective from someone who is from that country. A small school but they have strong roots in the community and are definitely a household name. Time at Paier is more than being assigned a number like at a state school. When I started at Paier I was assigned a number but everyone knew you by name that included the entire office staff and the owners of the school. I actually had to go in my senior year to ask for my student number because in Paier they are obsolete. It's definitely a cool place. The employees are all lovely, especially the young girls who greet you when you first walk through the door. However, our experience was completely ruined by a brute of a woman named BRIDGET who works there. We watched in horror as she absolutely berated and belittled the girls working in the front. I've never heard an employee be more rude or self righteous towards another employee in my life. I refuse to support an organization which hires employees employees such as this Bridget woman. Went there for the 1st time. Staff is very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Has various activities for children, but I went to see some animals, which were inside and outside. They have some birds and reptiles. There is an outdoor area where you can sit and/or eat. I believe there is a trail as well. Parking is free. Been going to earthplace my entire life and have not once had a problem. They have super cool play areas for kids that incorporate nature aspects, they have long outdoor paths and beautiful scenery. God has blessed me with my Voice to sing,, but I was rejected by the Worship team several times, but God doesn't see me as Color, and I moved on to a different Church where I was accepted on the Worship team, I am happy I am blessing others with my Voice. This place houses apartments for elderly and disabled. They also contract out a lot of private apartments throughout Bridgeport. The complex is the head of the catholic church. Very quiet on this street and at diocese in general.Mariano Rodriguez

Not sure where to begin since Sterling House offers SO MANY wonderful programs. Both of my children have attended their after school and summer camp programs. Both love them! My son has participated in their soccer program and my daughter took advantage of their Introduction to Volleyball two summers ago and wants to possibly try out in high school. Their karate class on Saturday mornings (for all ages) is terrific too. What I like most about it is that you purchase coupon books and only use a coupon when you attend a class. I love that they have volunteer opportunities for our youth which is something my 7th grader recently told me she wants to look into. Their staff is always helpful and happy to help! Sterling House Community Center offers endless support, opportunities, and connections for the residents and surrounding communities! Current renovations are going to modernize this gorgeous landmark and enable the staff to provide the community with more effective service. There are so many services one can access here from food pantry to preschool to summer camp and activites from sports to fitness to arts/crafts. We used the Discovery Science Center as our wedding and reception venue and it was a nerd/geek's paradise! The museum's event coordinator Tana is incredible! She helped us throughout the process of planning and setting up the venue for our wedding day. She put up with our many many many visits to bug her on site and was a pleasure each and every time. Pricing to book the venue on a holiday even was very reasonable and we felt like we were given the 5-star treatment every time we went to the venue. The day of her staff was also incredible and all were a huge reason why our special day went so smoothly. The venue itself was an incredibly unique experience for all of our guests just like we wanted! The exhibits were open and accessible throughout our event and everyone had a blast! Plus a custom planetarium show during the reception. Such a one of a kind experience all around. Came here on a weekday, so it was pretty empty. We spent about an hour here. Adults are $18; media pass for the planetarium is an additional $5. I had a library pass so up to 4 kids are included for free. The museum is still a work in progress, so while it was fun, I look forward to its growth and expansion over time. I saw a poster of the sun and planets that was completely “not to scale” – the sun and gas giants were too small compared to the rocky planets, and Pluto is no longer a planet… hopefully they’ll update it soon.Anna Ching

The review of this place is considering it as a museum that it is not. This is a advanced STEM oriented play area for middle school kids. Kids should enjoy this place. Sufficient parking available in front of the building. There is a canteen with two vending machine, but you have to carry your own lunch. The planetarium is medium size and attended to shows that are very ordinary. I traveled for an hour. This place is not worth driving that long. If you love animals, Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo is a great place to visit. It is fun for adults, but also a great trip to take kids. While not a huge zoo, it is well done and highlight important species from around the world. All creatures great and small, from tiny poison dart frogs to the otters, to Amur leopards, get great care from the staff and inspire people to care about them. This zoo has now been a special trip for my niece and nephew to enjoy for their birthday, but just as much fun for my husband and I. We each had a favorite animal on our trip, and everyone had a great time. And we were happy the cafe was open, because packed snacks aren't as enticing as grilled cheese, hot dogs, hamburger and french fries!Cassandra Meyer-Ogren

It's a small zoo, which is perfect for little kids who don't want to walk around all day. It's currently $19 for adults. During CT free admissions an adult can get in fee with a child. You can bring your own food/snacks. The Cafe in the zoo was terrible. The chicken tenders were dry and burger was tasteless, only the fries were good. Some of the enclosed areas still require a mask. It’s easy to get to. It’s a small zoo but is well maintained. Quite a few different animals. There’s food and beverages available as well as restrooms. I have been climbing here for a few months. I am extremely lucky to have RCF as my local gym. I’ve been to a few others across the east coast, however RCF stays on top for a few reasons. Whilst I cannot offer insight on the routes as I exclusively boulder, all of the problems set are incredible. Each week, the boulders in one out of the five Boulder locations are completely replaced with fresh, new climbs. Each area is unique with cave climbs to slab climbs given equal love by the fantastic setters. Oftentimes at bouldering gyms, I find that a lot of attention is focused on one form of climbing. Thankfully, RCF does not fall in to this trap. Secondly, the community at RCF is very welcoming and inclusive. It is not rare to celebrate after completing a new climb and be offered a fist bump by a complete stranger. Additionally, beta is usually only a question away with everyone at the gym being extremely helpful. This praise is not very exclusive to RCF and can be applied to the climbing community as a whole to be completely honest. But, what is exclusive to RCF is how welcoming it is to all age groups. I have seen people as young as 13 working on the same problems as someone 60+ years of age. It really is a great environment. I guess in this section I should also mention how helpful the staff have been; RCF really checks all the boxes for what makes the climbing community so great. Finally, RCF is a VERY high quality rock climbing gym. From the bathrooms to the walls themselves, the building feels clean. Sometimes, climbing gyms feel musty and dust-covered. This is most certainly not the case at Rock Climb Fairfield! On a separate note, an entire corner of the gym is sectioned off and filled with exercise machines, hang boards, weights, and pull-up bars. Sometimes I end up coming to the gym for the machines alone! Lastly, Rock Climb Fairfield has a Kilter Board. It’s just the cherry on the top for such a phenomenal gym. This is my first review I’ve ever left on google, but I just had to make sure I wrote one for RCF!Samuel W

Okay. Time for an honest review from someone who is not a parent and/or first time climber…This is the first time I’ve ever felt compelled to leave a Google review. Really want to love this place. Have lived in many areas and belonged to many climbing gyms, but I’ve never experienced anything like this before. This place is a climbing wonderland if you are under the age of 18/21. Otherwise, if you work a 9-5 job, it is a glorified daycare center run by high school “coaches” who do not care what the kids they’re “watching” do. Super disappointing considering the potential. I understand catering to younger crowds and think it’s great to get them into climbing, but at least have some morning hours (doesn’t open until 10 am) so adults can climb without fear of crushing a child that’s running around unsupervised beneath them…Or ask your “coaches” to, ya know, actually watch and manage the kids rather than sit around bro-ing out with their friends while the kids have domain over the gym. I’ve never experienced such disregard for safety in any climbing gym/youth climbing group. Or just disregard for other climbers. It really feels like you’re unwelcome if you are not new to climbing or a child/family. I’ve lived in the area on and off for about 10 years, and it’s only gotten worse with time. There are a few older staff members who are fantastic, and I hate to give them a bad review. But the majority of the staff just don’t seem to care and parents are nonexistent. Route wise: They reset the boulders often (that’s what the kids climb, mostly). Top-rope much less frequently (saw stuff up from May at end of September). Lead wall is almost never reset—same routes on most areas for years, seemingly. Otherwise, they have a great lil climbing shop, semi-frequent demos from reputable brands, a kilter board, and a nice sized traditional workout area. If you can visit during off hours, you’ve found your gym. If not, be prepared…Chris Lombardo

Phenomenal place to take your child. I was so proud of my son when he kept progressing to new heights. All of the regulars were really supportive of him as well. He ran around the place a bit and some of them played with him which made us both feel very welcome. They are constantly switching up the rock walls to give variety. Plenty of parking outside and the staff is informative and tentative. They even have a gym if your looking to stay fit while picking up a new hobby. I would have joined but I work out at 5 am and they don’t open until 7 am. My most favorite moment at the SYMI Academy is watching students conquer the unknown. So, many of our students aren't exposed to a variety of experiences. On this trip they were able to go tree climbing, where not only did they learn a new skill but it was fun and engaging as well. The SYMI Academy allows students to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. They won't tell you a price have you sign paperwork and give you your information packet at the end as they are sending you on your way. In the packet it clearly states the fees accessed to total about 12,000, to change your license the fee runs about 2,000 which I would be responsible and I don't recall being told there was a fee for the road test but this morning I was also told there is a separate 200 fee for the road test and 100 registration fee . Although financial aid is an option not everyone will qualify or want to go that route and this is where I have an issue. I feel rushed in as I met with admissions personnel yesterday a class starts 12/04/2021 which sounded great however, my financial aid has not even been estimated. I also have to mindful of the time we are in with the pandemic and the season winter is upon I have a bit of a commute I asked about information regarding the online options if any are available I received no response. After this experience I'm not sure if this place will focus on my best interest and not set me up for failure. They never answered how much class would cost at admission. FYI around 11k. Allstate is way less at 4,800 and 160 driving is about 4,900 choose wisely. They really try to trick you into taking loans. My son took the young aviators course over the summer (they offer for middle school and high school). He really enjoyed it and took his first flight. He now wants to continue on for his personal pilots license and hopefully eventually commercial pilots license. It is nice to see him (teenager) excited and enthusiastic about something. Great school for martial arts. I’ve had the privilege of training with Hwangs at a young age, and again now in my adult life. This is a school where everyone is welcomed (regardless of experience level). The instructors and masters work diligently to be sure you are accomplishing your goals (whether its building confidence, fitness, self-balance, or fighting techniques). I’ve made great friends at Hwangs. I highly recommend giving the school a try. It’s more than a school, it’s truly a community that works together. If you'd like to get in shape, ask for Eric (I’ve lost 20 pounds over the last 3 months!). If you’re goal is learning how to defend yourself, every instructor is proficient, and you’ll learn a variety of techniques and skills from all of them…they are truly the best of the best (they've coached me to 2 gold medals and 2 silvers in out of state competition). I have 3 sons enrolled at Hwangs in Stratford & they all have thoroughly enjoyed the classes. As a parent, I love how much the Hwangs staff partners with ME in guiding my boys to solid values like self discipline & self respect . They encourage good “black belt” behavior OFF the bat just as much as ON the mat. One of my boys has ADHD & the Hwangs program has done a world of good for his focus, but also building his confidence in being able to succeed at hard things. One of my other boys has Type 1 Diabetes & the staff has always been unendingly accommodating with whatever needs I have for him to be safely involved In Both regular classes & physical conditioning but also special events like tournaments. My 3/4 year old daughter has started taking classes and is loving it! All of the teachers are kind and super amazing with the Little Dragons group. I thought it would be intimidating, but the respect afforded to both me and my daughter put me at ease right away. The price seems very reasonable to me and there is even a discount for more family members participating. There is a changing area for both boys and girls with a bathroom attached. I love this gym/physical fitness center. The classes go by super fast and are challenging for all levels without being dangerous. Guaranteed fat burning without being bored. The coaches are very motivating and knowledgeable. You have cardio, strength, balance and stretching all in one stop shopping. The classes start early am-5:15 AM-which is perfect for commuters. I am so lucky and happy to have found Strong Start!! My son started there when he was a year old and has been there for 8 months now. I absolutely love everything about it. The director and assistant director are very easy to get in touch with and answer any questions or concerns that I have right away. I have even emailed the director over the weekend and gotten a quick response. My son has grown so much since he has started and is always so excited when we drive up for drop off and sometimes doesn't want to leave! He has made great friends! The facility itself is extremely clean, organized, and laid out very well. They have classrooms broken up by age with age-appropriate toys/activities. There are two outdoor play areas as well AND an indoor gym, so there are lots of places for the kids to play and have fun as well as their classroom for learning experiences (and more play). I also love the hours (6:30-6:30), which allow for early drop off which is something I needed with my work schedule. A Strong Start is excellent day care center. Deciding to put my 10 months old son in day care was hard decision, but all my first time mother worries were put at ease by GREAT TEAM working there. Teachers are amazing and genuinely care for the kids. Founder- Marc and Educational Director – Christina are always on site, know every child and parent and are hands on with the children. They are happy to help, answer any questions and willing to work with me if I have any special requests. They are truly like family and I could not be happier with their care. I cannot say enough good things about Strong Start!! I started my two boys back in October and I wish I had started them sooner. The teachers and the directors are phenomenal and I know they truly have the kids best interest at heart. The unique curriculum and philosophy of the school is evident in everything they do – I’ve seen my almost three year old make vast improvements in the short 5 months that he has been there from a developmental perspective. A wonderful place. If you like to paint or want to learn or want to have a painting birthday party or summer classes for kids or painting classes for adults and kids, this is a place to go! Colorful interior, lots of room, and they are so friendly and kind. We have run two birthday parties for our children here and it was fun and wonderful: you come, paint, get pizza, and take home your painting. The Giggling Pig is such a special place. It has a great vibe and the teachers are amazing. My children took many classes when they were young. I’ve attended several Paint N Sip events. There is no other center that we trust more to take care of the two most important people in our lives. The teachers have become family to us as the quality of care is unmatched. They are so creative to develop curriculum that is engaging and fun all while teaching the children. Both of our boys learned sign language in the infant program and were doing art projects within their first month attending. And when our youngest son moved up to Toddler, they had a "moving up ceremony" complete with cap and gown. The toddler program was/is very engaging for our very energetic boys. They had theme weeks about space, marine life and zoo animals. The preschool program, which our son begin during the pandemic, is amazing. They do experiments every week inside and outside, challenging the children to express opinions. For Election Day, they set up a voting booth for the class to vote on favorite farm animals and each child made an "I Voted" badge. Extremely creative. Our boys love their teachers. And we don't say that lightly. They are so happy when they see their teachers in the morning. Our pre-schooler still talks about his infant and toddler teachers. He loves and RESPECTS his pre-school teacher, often talking about them at nighttime. We were nervous, like everyone else to go back after the COVID lockdown. However, there are extensive protocols that quickly made us feel safe. They are constantly communicating with parents so we feel comfortable if there are any changes to protocols. Seeing the smile on our boys faces and realizing how much stimulation and socialization skills they are getting means everything to us. Bright Horizons is not a daycare center. It truly is an early childhood development center. The teachers AND ADMINISTRATION are like family and care very much about the children entrusted in their care. Both of our children, infant and pre-schooler, are at Bright Horizons in Fairfield. I still remember the first day that I visited, heavily pregnant with our first, and wanting to sign up on the dot. Was taken away by the passion for care for young children, the educational culture, the cleanliness, the structure; all the ingredients that make you feel it’s the right environment for your child to grow up in. Almost 4 years later, in the midst of the COVID pandemic, our second child is in Bright Horizons care at Fairfield. I honestly don’t think I would trust any other center with the care of our children. The teachers are just phenomenal, the procedures in place during these awkward times so reassuring, and leadership, admirable how they have navigated through the past months, continuing to lead with care, passion for education and a deep love for children. I have said it multiple times in different forums, we truly love you and feel you are part of our family as much as our kids are part of yours.Wendy Kampman

We have been with Bright Horizons at Fairfield almost since they opened . We are so pleased with their balance between play and their academic curriculum. My older son was more than prepared for Kindergarten and made great friendships here ! During this pandemic I knew that Bright Horizons would be ahead of the game with their covid protocols and we have felt very comfortable and safe having our younger son here. I thought that masks would be more of an issue for the younger kids, but my son’s speech and vocabulary continues to improve, he is is able to make friends, and enjoy his day. We have been through all of the stages here and have had great experiences with all of the teachers and staff. Everyone is so friendly and attentive. I used to go to this school but I was kicked out because my husband visited my son and I told them I was homeless and I left home because my husband abused but that was in the passed now jane the principal say I can't go back until August I don't think it Fair because I didn't read the rules I did know there was no visitor allowed so now I can't go back until August 😟 Jenny Galindo

Atmosphere Is pleasant, staff at the door are respectful and pleasant they always have a smile or pleasant voice. It appear that the tutors are patient and sensitive to the need of the people. We must realize that thy are human as well so they just might have a day but overall I really enjoy my day and appreciate them all.Robin white

Can't say enough good things about this place if you're looking for a safe and fun time at a ropes course/zip lining place. Have gone as a family many times over the years, and the most impressive part is that I see continuous upgrades, changes and improvements. What this says to me is that they are continuing to invest money in the park to ensure it's operating at its best. At our most recent visit, we noticed that they have all new clips for climbers. The safety video was changed (note that we come at least once a year. They started with just staff explaining things and are on probably the 4th bi-lingual video instruction version…so constant changes here). They used to require you to clip in to the stairs to the main platform, which became a bottleneck during busiest times…and now that feature is removed and traffic flows much better. My son was small when we started going, and he could barely get his trolley up high enough to click into ziplines without us lifting him off the ground. Now those same spots have a wood stump to help little kids reach and do it on their own. From the start, staff has been knowledgeable, engaged and friendly. I have had a staff member "rescue" my daughter's friend who got scared and stuck on a zipline and the staff member pulled her back hand over hand up the zipline and got her safely back to the ground. This trip I saw a staff member add a pulley to a spot on a course where there was none, enabling him to get a woman who was uncomfortable proceeding on the course down to the ground immediately. He stayed calm the entire time. This is an expensive activity in the grand scheme of things, but well worth the fun when you have confidence in how things are run and your kids keep asking to come back year after year. I had one kid who could only go on purple routes when we started going there, and now he goes on blue no problem. It builds great confidence in kids that they can challenge themselves to succeed. Can't recommend it enough! My husband and I love it too. Great outing for the family in the fresh air. My only wish is that they get bathrooms that aren't port-o-potties 😉D Kelly

Great courses for a variety of ability levels. I went with my 8 and 10 year olds. My 10 year old was off like a shot, but my 8 year old was a little nervous. At one point she even had to be helped by a staff member to go back because one element was just too scary for her. The staff member praised her for coming as far as she did & was very kind. The park manager then came up & was similarly encouraging, showing her other courses that she might enjoy. After doing one of those, she had the confidence to try the "scary" one again & LOVED it. It was a very special experience & it really was made possible not only by the great courses but by the kindness & understanding of every staff member we interacted with.Jamie Kenney

I had a fun time but as an adult I found their style of shoulder+waist harness uncomfortable during ziplining. Maybe the guides didn't tighten something down correctly but it had a lot of pressure points while hanging from the pulley. I was at another ropes course with waist only harnesses and those weren't uncomfortable at all. Another word of advice… take off rings before ziplining. Half your body weight pulling down on your hand above the pulley can really dig into jewelry. My kids did this course for the first time and was a good fit for an 8 year old. 6 year old needed some assistance with reaching some guide wires on green courses.William Nicoll

Way too expensive. We paid about $4000 for 50 hours and they don’t even tell you that it is not 1 on 1 tutoring. TAKE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. My son was in a tutoring session for AP Calc, and there was another kid doing algebra 2 and another kid online. I suggest looking at Mathnasium of Fairfield or Kumon if your child needs assistance with math or english.Kirit Dhanjal

We have sent both of our kids to C2 and have been extremely pleased with the results. They have helped tutor for SAT and SSAT, and we could not ask for more.
