We were working on our project (Our Green Hope) today where we used 3000 reusable bags to make the largest mosaic. The worker at the campus were friendly and supportive. After finishing the project, all the 3K bags were given for FREE at Kroger to encourage people to start using reusable bags instead of plastic grocery bags. "Technology"? I can't even do my homework in class!? The cpu keeps freezing up! Lost my assignment in the Microsoft Cloud ON CAMPUS! Technical support is one overweight guy always eating at his cpu. I had to wait until the end of the quarter to meet with an advisor to sign up for classes I didn't want. Now I got a teacher that I didn't want. Got referred to get help with housing, the guy at Mary's Place never called me back. It's more like a outdated community college. The campus security running around there think they the real police. Several minority students told me they were followed around campus by them. Covid hit and I'm getting pressured by a rude narcissist teacher to come to the school to withdrawal from class. Then when I was trying to get back into school nobody answered a voicemail or email. Only owed the school around $400, got a collections bill for $1,000+. The King County Metro bus doesn't come by the school that much. Your definitely going to car transportation. The staff is mostly nice & helpful for the most part. But some things need to be changed.Andrae Jones

I am a 55 year old returning student who attended a " Little Ivy " college in my first time around. My prep school was rated #3 in the US by Forbes.I have enjoyed some of the best educational opportunities that the US can offer. I have surprisingly found most of the instructors here to be very dedicated and qualified. Some stand out, some are better than others, but none are lemons.They compare fairly well , within reason, of the instructors I had at my elite schools.BTW, because the program I am taking is in high demand in the private sector, the government provides extra money for financially qualified students. I will go through my six quarter program at about 20% of the cost.I had no idea that the money is out there if you take the time to look. Do yourself a favor and get off the couch. The building is nice, the atmosphere is nice. Most teachers are great and would like to see you be successful. The advising office is my least favorite because I am always continually being given incorrect information, information in which is very important to have. The advisors are sometimes very hard to get a hold of and some do not get back to you, and when they do they don't give you the information you needed. I have wasted a whole day and gas to go to appointments that I could have just gotten the information over the phone, or through email, the front office is touch and go as well. Other than that the school is nice, I'd recommend it, but make sure you get the correct information the first time and not when it's too late.Liz Brown

If i could legit give ZERO STARS, I would. This is NOT… I repeat NOT a good school. If you are design/business major the staff do NOT work with you and the accommodations are a joke. You have to re-do them all again next semester. Secondly… the RA's #do not do their job. We had a huge issue in our dorm building and restrictions had been in place for the people who were causing the issues not to come back into the building. The RA's allowed them back into the building, saying they were… "Safe" to be in the building. The building muse is even WORSE. the staff there don't take care of all the fights and drug use that happens there. Two of my friends were sexually assaulted in that building and left Radford because of it. I can't speak for other dormatories, but Muse and Trinkle are NO GO'S. People are very rude and try to start drama with you and also… if you do come to this school, please PLEASE lock your bedroom doors…. people like to steal! Also the graduate teachers are the WORST. I've had a few, all if whom didn't like their students. They're mucj younger teachers, fyi. I only have one grad student professor who is a decent human being. Also people here are really racist. There's so much racism and fights here, it's insane. It's better to pick another school if possible, Especially when it comes to safety. The staff do NOT care about your safetyM B

Radford University is a great place to go to college for someone that is looking for a great education, great facilities, an exciting campus life, and a friendly and united community. As an international student I've had a great experience in my two years that I've been studying at Radford. The faculty is great, well knowledgeable in their subjects, and are always willing to help you, the student life on and off campus is fun, the smaller class sizes enable you to learn better and enable you to get to know your professors, the campus is beautiful, the facilities are mostly modern and well equipped. The university is constantly investing and working in improving the quality of education, the competitiveness of the school, and resources that we have, and it is clearly getting better every time. I would definitely recommend anyone to come to RU an experience what I have experienced so far.Ivan Thirion

This school is truly a fraud! They are claiming to support the military and Join the Yellow Ribbon Program to get the recognition but the actual support is not even pennies against this multi-million dollar school. This program was built to assist in financially supporting Military and Family Members to attend schools out-of-state and abroad at a rate comparable, if not equal, to in-state students and help overcome the hardships of military families constantly moving in support of our nations freedom. It is a joke they are calling themselves Yellow Ribbon Program members; offering a measly $1000 against a $25,000 annual out-of-state tuition difference. Then to offer it to only 2 undergraduates and 2 graduates in a school of over 10,000!!….Really? I can get a better military discount at Waffle House! They are making a mockery of a Program that is TRULY built to SUPPORT our troops!!!John Chisolm

This school is so far behind. You can barley navigate to important information (which there is little of) online, staff has sent me in so many different directions that I can’t even keep track. They haven’t processed my loan even though it’s been turned in for two months before the deadline, classes have started, I don’t have my books and they haven’t approved my funding so my classes still aren’t paid for. This is so frustrating for anyone trying to start a career path. It’s so unhelpful. I can’t believe how much help they advertise when there is actually little to none And to mention they tried putting me in all the wrong classes for the major I’m going for!!!!Samantha Brock

Instructors are usually amazing. Face a lot of microagressions from entry level staff like the new barista and other cafeteria employees but that doesn’t cancel out the teachers who want you to succeed and truly love the subjects they teach. The staff in the library usually make my day. Financial aid staff can be rude, I would say it’s good to have someone advocate for you if you get sick during the quarter to not deal with the different personalities you can meet. A great place to restart my life. I am learning so much it's like drinking water from a fire hose. Ceramics is my favorite right now, but most of my classes are in Information Technology Services. I love learning, so most of the classes I took at BC were pretty good. Nothing was too difficult. Most teachers were great, especially Nutrition and CPR/Health Safety. There is however, one teacher you should avoid at all costs. Her name is Leanne Kunders (Leed) in the Allied Health department. I watched her break the law with respect to disabled students, which was appalling. She makes up her own rules w regards to laws. She is a mediocre teacher who blames her students for her problems. She retaliates against students who ask for their disability rights. She clearly can't teach and has no patience for any of her students who ask questions because she doesn't know the answer. Her tests are full of mistakes and mispellings and then she'll tell the class how important it is to be detail oriented. Yeah, if only I had someone to be my mentor and an example. Not my instructor, of course. She'll front load a class for no good reason with tons of meaningless work, then leave the last month practically empty. Very poor organization. And then she'll tell students they need to be more organized. Very funny! She's a sorry excuse for a role model. Do the opposite of what she does and you'll be ok. Lastly, Leanne will whine for half the class about her problems instead of teaching. BC must be really hard up for instructors to take this sorry excuse for a teacher. Yawn! No, she's not even close to rising to the level of a professor.Jennifer M

—Love this college!!— Very good design program and amazing internship after all the trouble I went at another small school. Initially I started at Art Institute of Seattle but they accepted me without asking for any essay or portfolio which was already unusual. Then advisors started disappearing from the office until school announced that closing permanently in the middle of the quarter. I was terrified to lose my F1 Visa status. Last person left in International Office told me to leave the country within 14 days if I can't get enroll in another college. I couldn't believe it was happening for real in the US. But Bellevue College saved me. They accepted me in a few days and transferred all my immigration records within grace period. I was able to get an amazing internship this summer and company just offered me a permanent job. Forever grateful to my advisors and great professors!Kim Su

I strongly detest private education with instructors reading out of textbooks which certainly does occur at this institution, however, the majority of professors provide the state curriculum mixed with their own style making for an enjoyable experience. Organic chemistry, Psychology, Biology/Microbiology all get special shoutouts for their dedication and commitment to excellence providing the highest caliber of education while also being accessable after hours through email or on-site locations. Pre-req classes as always are definitely a scam in American education. All 100 level classes not applicable for your degree are a waste of very precious resources and unreturnable time. Online courses are as expected although I do enjoy that online requires much more work. I love studying extra and being challenged to accomplish more from less. Today, I feel compelled to write about the wonderful place where I work, Cape Fear Community College. This is my third year here and quite honestly, it is by far, my favorite place of employment. The grounds at CFCC are beautiful, the students are fantastic, and the culture is what makes it truly special. I don’t even know where to begin with this place. First of all if you are considering going here you need to run in the opposite direction. I moved here from out of state and gave this institution 10,000 of my dollars just to be disrespected and ridiculed by the faculty and staff. My high school teachers were more competent and respectful than anyone here. The school is run down and smells like mildew other than the main building they use to advertise this place. I did not learn one single thing the entire time I was here and let it be known that I am now graduating to be a medical professional so I was not the problem. Be careful if using MYCAA to pay for classes, regardless of whether or not you submit on your end on time. If the school doesn't submit it on time on their end (as in my case) you'll receive a dozen and a half reminders that tuition is due (the school doesn't handle MYCAA and the funds get sent to the student to then pass on to the school and if it's not paid by "x" date at "x" time classes are dropped. Had I of known this, I would have applied for schooling elsewhere. Waste of time. Not everyone wants or needs to use FAFSA………Courtney Myszewski

No a good place to take a home inspector class you have 60 hours to read a huge book, and triton college push you to get brand new book but all the material they show you is from 1900, therefore the teacher encourage you to just read the book because their old material doesn't Match with the new book, nothing is updated. Plus If you miss 1 point on your exam you lose the whole course and have to do it again because they don't give you another chance to take another test even for one point and expected to pay all again.so you waste your time,your money..and all over it the instructor says that if English is not your first language you are in the wrong place and makes comments all the time about people's accents. I asked about future classes and the lady who helped me initially was VERY pleasant and turned her computer screen around to show me how to navigate the schools website!! I'm a vet and am finishing up my first semester at Liberty. So far I have had nothing but good experiences. I was nervous about going back to school after being in service for years, but the transition has been fairly easy with all of the help lve received.My instructors are very personable and go out of their way to help me with any problems I may run into. Professors are very professional and, unlike many schools, encourage students to form their own opinions. I have never felt as though any political agendas or doctrines were being forced upon me. Non Christians are treated equally well as everyone else, and are even welcomed to challenge or question anything they may disagree with. Divinity professors are more than willing to listen to other opinions and will clearly explain anything a non believer might want to know about Christianity. The campus itself is beautiful and full of fun things to do besides schoolwork. I am actually learning, rather than simply connecting dots to get a degree and that is exactly what I hoped for. Since I've gone to the school I've got to see politicians such as Nigel Farage and Donald Trump Jr., musicians like Jeremy Camp, sports stars like Brett Favre, world class entrepreneurs, and experts such as economists who advised the president. I’ve got one year to go to graduate from this place😭 Being a student at this university has been quite a wonderful experience. To be honest I think it’s one of the it’s not the most state of the art schools in the world. It’s impossible to get bored here. I will say though one thing about this place is that if you come here on fire for Jesus then you’ll find people on fire for Jesus but if you come here to party then you’ll find the party people so make of it what you want. Yes there’s been some drama here in the past few years but there’s drama everywhere and Liberty has been able to manage it pretty well I’d say. Set up a campus tour. It was 3 hours which entailed visiting the dorms and dining areas. To include the fitness and recreation center. As well the Jerry Falwell Library and Vines Center. We walked the campus for a few hours and then we rode the bus for the remainder of the tour. Everyone was friendly. The student tour guides did an excellent job. The campus was huge. It was well maintained. They have three dorm options. One to include apartments that house seven people. Freshmen are able to bring vehicles on campus. Wide selection of dining options. Misericordia University is not only strikingly beautiful but offers an exceptional education for every student. The faculty and staff at Misericordia are very encouraging and motivate every student to meet their dreams academically and socially. I have attended Misericordia for 4 years and am working toward my Doctorate in Physical Therapy. The Physical Therapy program is a 6.5 year guaranteed program, the first 3.5 years earning a bachelor’s degree and the next 3 years at the graduate level for physical therapy. This program has been accredited for a number of years and has a very high passing rate on the board exam. Throughout my 4 years at Misericordia, I have nothing but positive remarks. Misericordia has taught me how to be both successful and independent. I lived on campus for all 4 years at Misericordia, 2 years working as a Resident Assistant and two years with fellow students. Although it was fun to live with some of my friends, living by myself as an RA was definitely a huge perk. From being an RA, I was able to witness students who got involved in the Misericordia community and students who chose to mind to themselves. With that experience I can only give advice that getting involved and putting yourself out there is vital, not only at Misericordia but throughout life. You can’t just let life walk by you, you need to put on your shoes and run towards your dreams (and if something is for free, you really have nothing to lose). Misericordia offers a huge variety of ways to get involved from campus ministry, athletics, theater, and various clubs, there is most definitely something that peaks everyone’s interest. I have met so many amazing people and have made friendships that will last a lifetime from Misericordia. Through getting involved as an RA, and being involved in clubs such as business professional association, health care management association, and H.O.P.E (Healthy Options Peer Educators), I have been able to learn new information, make friends, and have fun. There is a wonderful program at Misericordia called the Guaranteed Placement Program (GPP) where every year of their education students learn viable and helpful tips such as how to properly handle a job interview or how to build your resume. At the end of the student’s time at Misericordia, the GPP program guarantees that you will graduate with a payed internship or job 6 months after graduation. Therefore, there is no fear that you will earn a degree and not have a job after loaning so much money. I am proud to be a student at Misericordia University. As a student from out of state (born and raised in Arizona), attending Misericordia University has been a very unique experience for me. The location has been comfortable, coming from a small town, so the location has not been overwhelmingly populated while still being close enough to other cities and shopping locations. MU also assisted in my decision to switch majors, and have been a Mass Communications student with a Philosophy minor since my sophomore year. Students with interests in the arts and and humanities, like myself, often feel as if they are not taken as seriously as other majors, such as health sciences. However, I feel that MU’s liberal arts approach embraces all student interests, including encouraging creativity while also helping students get to know the “real world” and how to approach the world from a realistic and economic perspective. Getting involved at MU has also been fairly easy and a welcome experience for me. The Mass Communications department is tight-knit but is welcoming of all students, and has job, classes, or club opportunities for students in and outside of the major. The arts are also embraced by the campus radio station (Cougar Radio), the Highlander newspaper, etc. I’ve participated in multiple groups and events on campus, and have found student employment on campus, along with researching, preparing for, and currently executing internships during my college career. I’m a firm believer that college is what you make it, and MU has helped me embrace all these passions that I’ve always had and has helped me move forward with the things that matter most to me.Destiny

Misericordia University has been my home away from home. I never second guess my choice of coming to school here. The occupational therapy program is one like no other. I take pride in my hard work and the teachers in my program and other faculty on staff are friendly, generous, and want to see every student succeed! Misericordia takes pride in its service and hospitality and these qualities can be found in each student here. Up until this point it has been a few small hurdles that have been resolved fairly quickly and would leave my rating at a 4 star rating. However, this previous semester has been nothing but a nightmare when it comes to the bookstore and financial aid. The bookstore website offers laptop computers. So I attempted to order one using my financial aid. The order was cancelled and I had to visit the bookstore, which turned into having to get some kind of voucher to use my own financial aid for a computer. After some back and forth about not supposed to have been awarded a voucher in the first place, they accommodated the voucher to get me my laptop. After getting all that squared away, I checked back in to make sure my financial aid had covered my books, the laptop, and my classes. To which I was told it did. Or as of today, it was supposed to be any way. I went to schedule my classes and was met with a wonderful message online that my account is on a hold due to bookstore charges that I already have a receipt from in August (Almost 2000 dollars with the laptop). Almost 4 months later and something that was taken care of is now suddenly still a problem. As of right now it's being looked into by a financial aid office worker that has been very helpful through all of this but my review will still stand until this is rectified. Also I will no longer be using the bookstore because the risk of getting anything through financial aid there just isnt worth it. I am a current student, most professors are great. But without fail every semester I have issues with financial aid. They took my pell grant back out of my account the last week of school even though I’m taking enough credits and my classes qualify. I now owe over $700 out of pocket that I don’t have. They took my sub/unsub loans away ( again, I qualified for these) and I had to call 9+times and send multiple emails to get them restored. It’s the last week of the semester and they still haven’t been disbursed to my account. I’m an all A student. I’m pretty sure I spend more time dealing with Financial aid mishaps than I do on schoolwork. Sad. I have also enrolled in a class in a previous semester that was canceled by the school. Highly inconvenient. UPDATE: The Director of Financial Aid was able to look at my account and fix both my Pell Grant and student loans! I just have to wait for the next dispersment period. I guess we’ll see if it happens. Changed score from 1 star to 2 stars. UPDATE: They reissued my pell grant, but the semester had ended and they still have not issued my sub/unsub loans.Megan Ellis

Went to Trilogy beauty salon for a haircut and hair color appointment. Student did a really nice job on both. Affordable for gen eds but for a technical college they have some of the worse tech issues I have every seen my I have seen middle schools with better technical support. Do not take there advice on what laptop to buy since I was told to buy a Microsoft brand laptop but I needed to add every chrome extension needed to even access half the course material. Let's just say I'm no spring chicken. I got my Industrial electrical apprenticeship at the age of 46 and at the age of 50 I graduated. It was not an easy thing for me. But the program was excellent and they gave me alot of skills I use everyday at my job. Some days I think I should have tried fitting the instrumentation specialist into my schedule some how but with work hours it wouldn't have work. Id say they have everything you need to succeed at FVTC, because if I can do it at my age anybody can there!Heath Mischke

This heartfelt review is difficult for me because I actually attended Alvin junior high and Alvin high school off and on throughout my 12 years. I love this town. I was happy to attend this college for that precise reason. However, there were many many obstacles I went through to get my degree here. Frequently, I had to wait my opportunity cost between a poorly taught class, and a class dedicated towards my profession. This should not be happening. Two things caused this. Professors who do not calculate the time required to perform homework and assignments out of class Is one. The second cause were professors who should not be teaching at all. They are either rude, careless Or have some type of issue within their person. Every semester I had a professor like this even after referencing rate my professor. Eventually because of this college hiring so many professors with personal issues it eventually cost me my accumulative science and math GPA to fall under. Consequently, I would not qualify to enter into university science or math department. Every semester on student loans, I worked 10 hours a day for seven days a week for two years. There should have been no reason why my grades were affected. However, how a professor teaches is one of those things that an individual has absolutely no control over. Because of the poor department management and analysis of teaching from professors by administrative, I will no longer be able to pursue the group degree I intended on pursuing. As a compromise, I had to apply for graduation for a general studies associates to leave this college peacefully, and it not destroy my loan approval or potential to graduate in four years. Best degree plans for this college are governments, English, etc. Stay at another community college for science and math because these departments are seriously on organized and not monitored.Shauna Herrera

Keep Alvin Beautiful greeted at the Alvin City Fall cleanup. Texas Pride and others showed up 2 collect all kinds of trash and recycle. Really impressed with everybody that I got to work with as they had a great attitude and even though most were new to the event they jumped in and made things work well. Really proud of everybody who participated and made this a great event and keeping our city sparkling Update: the EMS and police cadet departments pulled together to do a huge exercise for the training of their students. Using the building abandoned building across the street they staged a mass shooter that the police cadets had to take out and then they pulled in the EMS students to help pick up and treat all the wounded. Was a terrific activity and professionally done. Very fun to participate in as a victim. Update: we had the spring Alvin clean up and had the best participation ever. 151 people brought all kinds of trash, metal recycle, electronics, batteries, paper shredding, and green waste to be recycled. Great place to take classes. My son takes classes here in the summer to transfer to his 4 year university. He has enjoyed all of his professors. I like the school because they have a great enrollment process. They've got a waiting area and they call you up by name and clearly post your name on monitors. I only give 4 stars because of their police department. If you pull through a parking space-ticket. They watch every vehicle and the slightest parking lot infraction can bring a quick ticket. They're using it as a money generator. You've got to read their police handout. A lot of rules are in place that aren't posted and a visitor can quickly find themselves ticketed. We've switched to College of the Mainland and we've been happier.David Carlisle

I attended Sullivan for their culinary arts program and I have some insight for future students going into the program. First being, have an idea for what you're wanting to achieve in life. Culinary school is very expensive for what you get and there are other, more cost efficient ways to achieve your goals. I recommend working in the industry for at least two years before you decide to go to culinary school. You will find a lot of well-known chefs didn't graduate culinary school. Everything you are learning in school can be self taught or learned in the industry.The key to becoming a great chef is the understanding of the industry. I say this all because at Sullivan its just a matter of time before you're screwed over by financial aid. The entire department is very disorganized. Important papers of mine seemed to keep going missing in their hands making my life very stressful. Also if you plan on doing on campus housing just DON'T. It is crazy expensive and it is exactly like high school. I loved my time at Sullivan don't get me wrong but is it worth the money you spend, NO.Annah Cecil

I haven't had any problems with Sullivan. I have been here for about 6 months and after attending JCC and UofL I must say Sullivan has already given me a much better experience. JCC and UofL let me (at 18) pick a bunch of random classes that were way too hard and never got back to me about any issues, it took way too long to get in touch with anyone for meetings or questions and at Sullivan they are always a quick phone call or office visit away. Teachers seem to really care and take the time to call you on their off time to congratulate you on good test scores, inquire why you are missing class, or pull you aside in class if you are on the brink or failing or even on the brink of getting an "A". If you don't miss a lot of class there won't be any problems, and there are even students in my classes who are active duty and miss class a lot and teachers have been as accommodating as possible. I can honestly say that transferring to Sullivan University from the University of Louisville was one of the best decisions I ever made. Class sizes are small, so it's easy to ask questions and get help if you need it. The instructor's here aren't just trying to "push you through", they actually care that you learn the material. The food served in the cafeteria is great and all of the staff/personnel are super helpful and friendly. My only complaint however would be the financial planning office. Some of the advisers can be kind of rude and you have to constantly call/send e-mails just to get a response for an appointment, in my experience. It's best to just show-up in person and request a meeting. Other than that, I would highly recommend Sullivan University to potential students.Brea M

If I could give this school zero stars, I would. This University is a full on corporation. They do not care about students one bit. All they care about is the money. Most of the teachers really do not want to be there and the staff(bursars, finaid, VA, etc..) are not on the same page. They do not seem to have any information about anything, even though the job they were hired for is to be able to provide that information. I have two separate experiences with this place. First, I applied to use my VA benefits, I think in 2013. The lady gave me an excuse about, since I was Pre-Business I couldn't get it. So I had to withdraw. The next year I applied and I was able to use it with no problem. So I basically had to postpone going to school because someone lied or just didn't care to do the proper research. Second, this year, 2016. I started school for the spring and I decided I was going to go ahead and take out loans to finish school. So, I took out a loan to pay for books and tuition. I was waiting for my check, because we were heading into the 3rd week of school and I needed my books. So I called the Bursars and Finaid office. Bursars told me that they automatically add the loan to the tuition. I said, are books not a part of tuition and the girl said yes, but I think you would have to talk to the bookstore about that. Worng! So, I went and withdrew from my classes again and filled out the proper forms to decline the loan. Then, I went onto my loan account and realized UTC had taken some money out of the loan I declined to pay for the classes I had already withdrew from. School is an embarrassment and now I have to find another school outside of the city to attend.Kc

I graduated from UTC back in 2015. The campus, city, and outdoors is why you come to UTC. They are all beautiful. However, once you look on the inside is when you find the bad. I never felt like i had any good professors who truly cared about their students except for two. The administrative side is a nightmare; constantly being transferred to another person or department, often times talking to someone who is annoyed because you called. The college DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU, only your money and they will do everything they can to exploit it. The best part on the inside of UTC is the maintenance and food court staff. They know students by name and make sure you are doing okay, unlike professors and advisors. Its a great place to be on the outside until you start going to class or trying to solve an administrative problem.Stephen Walker

My friend just warned me and i will help warn everyone else. if you are barley over the white line just a few inches then you will get an automatic ticket. whether a truck and SUV can fit vs a smaller vehicle that is in there. the campus needs to let people go for their first offense if they did not know the situation was going to become a big deal. in spite barley over the white line. it is much worse than city tickets and will not accept appeals for first offense of this situation. be aware of the way you park. parking is not so bad at other universities and this happen to be one to enforce it even though he was barley over the white line.gregory smith

As a Christian looking for a God-based education, I thought I had found a great place in the middle of a quiet and beautiful Kentucky town. Unfortunately, I learned that Asbury's motto of "Academic excellence and Spiritual Vitality" is only that, a motto. Staff: For the price that students are forced to pay for classes, I expected competent and highly professional instructors with much to offer. In a few cases, my expectations were exceeded! Some of the professors are highly qualified and go above and beyond any other teacher I have ever had. Most though, barley seem to care about being there. Instances that stuck out to me involved a teacher, who was not a teacher, but someone pulled from the registrar office to fill the position, who taught a classic literature class without reading any of the books, a teacher who failed me for disagreeing with her philosophy in a debate paper, a teacher losing my final examination and failing me for it and numerous occasions in which I was discriminated against and made to leave classes due to my service in the military. There have even been instances where professors had directly contradicted scripture. Academics: The classes are challenging, one thing I like about the university. The college of course requires you to take General classes such as math, science and literature whatever your major, as well as three biblical courses. However, expect your GPA to take a severe dip due to a professor who believes his subject to be the most important of all. Another odd attribute about Asbury is that they will exclude traditionally Islamic languages on the basis that they "have no place in Christianity". As a speaker of Arabic, I expected to be excused from the foreign language credits (which are quite expensive, all totaled), yet the school would not accept it due to its connotation. Facilities: Once again, for the amount of money one pays in tuition and room and board, one would expect stellar facilities. Almost all living facilities are outdated and seem to include some sort of pestilence (this year, Bed bugs ran rampant in one of the dorms). The food in the cafeteria is barley eatable, always fried or cooked in butter and next to impossible to keep a balanced diet with. Almost all funding for facilities seems to go to building baseball facilities, which only a small minority of the students are allowed to use. Rules: While I agree with some of Asbury's rules, I am steadfastly opposed to some. For instance, a n of-age student may be kicked out of school for responsibly consuming alcohol within their own home. Another is the curfew, in which if you come back to the dorm late, you must inform your Resident Director where you have gone. As a law abiding, free and responsible adult, no institution has the right to enforce either of these rules. College is a time for teenagers to grow on their own and learn to become adults and care for themselves. Asbury instead insists on trying to baby its students and keep them from taking any responsibility whatsoever. In conclusion, Asbury has a lot of potential. Were it to build off some of its more stellar staff members, improve the facilities of the majority of students and treat us as if we were adults and not like middle school, I may believe them when they quote their motto.Lexang4

One of the most foundational and spiritually vibrant times in my life. I can't emphasize enough what a profound, messy, and beautiful experience my undergrad years at Asbury were. Great school, peaceful campus, world class professors in the Bible Theo and Christian Ministries/Missions Departments. A bit pricey, but worth it. School has a rich Wesleyan Arminian "#OfficiallyNotOfficiallyMethodist" theological heritage. Diversity in the student and faculty population is well-represented. The Luce Center is one of the best fitness centers in central Kentucky with exercise equipment, an indoor swimming pool, and a gym with an indoor walking track. The cross country course is one of the best courses in the state, and landscaping workers have done an outstanding job of keeping the course mowed. This is an excellent course for students to practice on, hold a cross country meet, or to even have a 5K race for the community. From what I've noticed, Asbury University would surely be a very good college for both students and faculty.Russell Woods

I realize that my opinion can't stand for the whole school (chemical engineering​ 2017), but having held a student job that allowed me to see a lot of the behind the scenes stuff and was part of a department that was in the midst of a lot of changes, I do think I can offer some insight. First, unless you're a proactive genius who wants to do research their entire life, don't bother coming here. This school doesn't care about industry or the jobs it offers. This school talks a lot, but doesn't follow through very well. For instance, the higher ups tend to be good, but the people below them are horrible. The career center is a joke, the admin people are flakes who pretend to know what they're doing, and the professors are very hit or miss. How this school got "best undergrad teaching" is a mystery to me. The only good majors are comp sci and bio. The rest of the departments, especially mine, are either full of hot air, stupid in their decision making, or just plain lost. This university attracts a lot of insanely bright students to their undergraduate program and the stem majors would suck without them. God knows the STEM majors don't get genuine help from their professors. I had to go an extra year because of the negligence of my department and two of the many professors that left during my time were upset and thought I should have graduated a year earlier. I almost transferred twice. My department, similar to many others, don't have any connections to companies in industry. This school also hates transfer students despite having a lot of them. Don't expect to finish any degree in 4 years if you're transferring in. There's no social life here because the school is filled with pasty nerds. This is the worst school in the state of Maryland (and possibly in the US). Several buildings on campus are run down (the Sondheim building has even had asbestos in it). The quality of the food is poor and it's overpriced. The social life sucks. It's not a well-known school outside of Maryland. And most importantly, classes are insanely difficult (especially for STEM majors). The classes aren't designed to weed out the slackers. They're designed to weed out the people who try their absolute hardest (and sacrifice things such as sleep and a decent social life) but can't keep up with the immense workload thrown at the students and/or approach assignments with the same exact mindset as the professors. Exams are geared less toward understanding important subject material and more toward deciphering what the professors are actually asking. This school is nothing but a weed out school. I know students who are very intellectually gifted yet still struggle with courses only because of the professors. Almost every professor, by the way, couldn't care less about students and (one would think) they take pride in handing out bad grades – maybe because it inflates their ego of "how brilliant they are compared to others". One more note on the courses – for many courses there is one week between the final exam and the last normal exam of the semester. The biggest mistake I've ever made was attending this "school". I can honestly say that attending UMBC feels like a form of imprisonment. I can't overstate how much I truly despise this school. Please don't make the same mistake I did – go to UMD, Towson, or really anywhere but UMBC.Bucky C

There are a lot of great things about UMBC, the career center is great and there are some top-notch professors. There are some problems though. One annoying thing is they nickel and dime you for everything. Parts of the campus are run down looking and they wont go there during the tour. Most of my professors have been good but my girlfriend who is an art major has had more than one professor that just had students watch online videos instead of teaching them animation topics. -Library carpet is worn out -Chairs in library are so gross your arms stick to them -ITE building has chairs with foam falling out -You must pay to play ping pong or any game in the "game room" -The billing dept gives you very little time to pay the bill and is quick to issue an expensive late fee -Social life isn't great on campus Another thing worth noting that has unfortunately been getting worse is UMBC's leadership imposing their political motives on students through 'updates' on current events. Updates are fine but the vocabulary used in some of the 'updates' is disrespectful to some students who don't agree with the same viewpoints as 'UMBC leadership'. Worst college experience. The clinical advisor is incapable of her job and pushed the clinical to a future start even though the CPR card takes one day to get but she decides to push it a whole week when we should have been done the day the quarter finished. The phlebotomy instructor is really rude and disrespectful of students and makes students not feel comfortable to speak up and if to ask a question she acts like your a child completely rude. I don't recommend coming to this college. Also the virtual graduation was upsetting to know I had sent my information and sent a photo and not even be on it. Really makes me unhappy to know I spent money and time to be treated as a student like trash and not get acknowledged for the hard work and time put into trying to succeed. I won't want to come back to this college for the at most disrespectful people.Ryan

This is a terrible college. It’s like pulling teeth to get anyone to email you back about important, time-sensitive information, and you get the runaround when they do. This happened when I was applying for admission, and is currently happening now that they’ve denied me, because they are incompetent, the certificate I worked so hard for. Because they changed the numbers on some math courses, they all of a sudden don’t count towards my certificate, and they lost the official transcript that I sent from my former college, and are denying my transfer credit. Man i had trouble here. Not only did they give me the wrong classes but it turns out i never had FAFSA to cover my classes. And they make me pay for them two years after I left the college. Thank goodness i never continued to study here. I know they have a lot of students to manage but still if you were able to catch that years later then why not then? I knew something was wrong here. I never had a chance to visit barry university before enrolling and I wound up not liking the area. The area outside of it is very ghetto and the dorms are smaller than what is shown on the layout online. I didn't feel safe in the general area so I withdrew from the university during the grace period where I should've gotten a 100% refund on classes and an 80% refund on housing. It's been almost two months since I signed and dated the form where I only agreed on paying 20% for housing and 0% for classes. I had not gone to any classes and now I am moved out and enrolled in a different college. I am still being given hell on this process where they were only responsible for calculating the 20% on housing that I owed and signing a withdrawal form. It's taken them two months to do these simple tasks that should've been made a priority and I was told it would be. I am now being billed for $7,050 for classes. For what classes? I hadn't gone to any and withdrew during the grace period. I have copies of my withdrawal form stating what I signed for and printed copies of the official website stating the corresponding dates and percentages for refunds and billing. They are now either going to resolve this issue right away or I will be in the process of sueing the university. This is ridiculous. The only person I can say actually had done their job was my academic advisor who also agreed that this process has been a ridiculous money scam.Miranda Moran

What can I say: I love Barry. Even though I live way up here in Jax, I commuted down there for classes once a month. It was worth it to me. I’m in the PhD nursing program and I can say it really changed my life. Dr. Jessie Colin, who is also my chair, is the most intelligent and remarkable person I have ever met. The 5 stars is for her and how she is running the doctoral program. Thank you Dr. Colin! The rest of the nursing faculty are also wonderful. Lovely women (too many to name). I’m so glad I made the decision to come to this school. I’ve learned so much that this post would be too long to describe it all! It’s an intellectually challenging program, so be ready to learn. This school in general really focuses on social justice. If you are not open minded to multi-culturalism and discovering new ways of thinking outside of the norm, this may not be the school for you. I tell people this because I know how the culture is in America today (ignorance is bliss). You have to accept to live the ‘Barry Life’, which is being open to culture and seeking justice for those whose voices might go unheard. Like some say on other reviews, yes, the area in which the school is in is kinda sketchy. And be prepared, the student parking is awful. The biggest parking lot is a couple blocks away and you have to take a shuttle to get to the campus. It’s a small campus but quite beautiful.904 CZV

Barry University is the worst. I was enrolled for one semester in 2013. The way the school system is set up is terrible. NO ONE is on the same page, rarely will credits transfer, teachers do not truly care or seemed interested in making personal relationships (mind you this is a PRIVATE college), and lastly…getting your transcripts sent to other colleges is the HARDEST. They go through different programs like "Transcripts on Demand" so there's no help from Barry because they don't even know whats going on in the transcript process. They just buy some company to come handle all of their students and transcripts for them. My transcripts are now late being sent to two different colleges and its been over a month since I sent my consent form (since when do you need a consent form to sent transcripts…usually you pay a fee and that's that). My alma mater, as of 1975. I considered it an optimal learning opportunity, and (at the time frame considered…) a quite reasonable investment. The only 'drawback' (at the time) being the regular 'business of life' [and unfortunately as well, death – Cancer, in Family]. Exigencies are unavoidable, and need to be addressed a.s.a.p., and can cascade into other further nets of decisions. I certainly did enjoy my stay there (the area, as well as the great University !). There was just never enough time to fully explore the many opportunities. If only one could repeat some experiences, possibly change some choices, and avail others… but then one could add that reflection to many things. If you have the 'wherewithal', it is highly recommended, not merely by myself, but many others. An EXCELLENT UNIVERSITY!!Lahn Moore

Amazing Geology program, filled with the some of the most intelligent members of the field. Professors legitimately care about student success and the curriculum is top notch. Additionally, the field trips are all well planned and very educational. I transferred in from Oakwood University and it was one of the best decisions i ever made. I had an opportunity to travel abroad in my first year to Romania (Ahhhhmazing). Then their PE classes are not just the traditional ie: basketball, tennis. They have caving, rock climbing, horsemanship and snowboarding! Ultimately it was the spiritual emphasis on campus that won me over. Oh and lots of photo opportunities. Not only did I grow academically but spiritually as well.Michael Looby
