20 Best Sonography Programs In St. Louis, MO (2022 Updated)

Talked to an advisor 3 different times. The first time was a short call had no idea what was going on, okay whatever. Said he would figure things out and scheduled another appointment. Second call his man concern was me attending the webinar and informed me I could only take 2 classes for the first term and a total of 15 credits for the semester. News to me but okay if that's how its gotta be; okay, asked him with less than a month before classes why am I not in any classes yet? He said he would figure it out and get the ball rolling and made another appointment for August 12 to be sure everything was figured out. Third appointment still no classes, and no call. Talked to a different advisor and she told me he would call me back. Finally got from my advisor on the phone 2 hours after appointment where he began with saying I could only take 12 credit hours this semester till I got a gpa for maryville. Towards the end it was now only 9 credit hours for the 1st semester. What! Jack said depending on my gpa this semester I may be able to take 18 next semester. Really? Like I could even remotely believe that after switching 3 times. Bye Maryville! Thanks for leaving me 2 weeks to find a different college to go to! The online master degree in nursing has group work for every single class and almost every week. That doesn't seem so bad until you realizes that there are students all over the country in different time zones working 12 hrs shift. It is difficult to get everyone together on the same day and time, not mentioning the huge impact it has on your grades. So your grade is going to depend on everyone else. That for me destroys the Independence of online school that most working adults are looking for. Not mentioning all the drama that involves group work. The semester costs around $5,500, and I think that is too much money to have your grades jeopardize by inconvenient and excessive group work.Katia Nicholaw

If the admission representative I spoke to today is a reflection of what to expect from Maryville University, I would suggest you look elsewhere. I requested information so I can determine the best path to a graduate degree. I was mocked, scoffed and laughed at by the representative. I tried to explain my purpose, and she continued to talk over me. The worse demeaning attitude I've encountered in ages. Everyone at Forest Park Dental School is wonderful to me. They are punctual with the start time of appointments. Since they are a school, they're always learning new techniques and using up to date technology and pass on their knowledge to me. They always encourage me to take care of my teeth and show me better ways to care for my teeth. I have such a great time going there. They take Mohealthnet Medicaid, so there's no charge. I get X-rays and cleanings. They always do their best from the managers, the teachers, the dentists, and the students. I highly recommend them. They are safe, clean, creative, and careful during the Coronavirus. Because of the Coronavirus they use tools that don't cause splash. They truly care. If you have a problem they can't help you with they refer you to Affinia Dental School. I'm grateful for their handicapped parking in front of the building.Jean Montgomery

If you want to be successful just go somewhere else. The professors do not teach in a way to retain the material, the test and the computer programs used for homework such as the MyOpenLab never matches to what the professors teach in class. Many students attend to gain science and math classes for their premed studies, if this is you, avoid at all means. The science department does not help students, and look for students to repeat course just to make more money. Not sure if it’s a cult within the department or what. And there is almost always no one on campus to help with tutoring. Please avoid! Unhelpful, negligent, or even downright racist staff. Ridiculous required classes that are frankly redundant to high school or useless. Refused to pay me the scholarships and wages they promised me for my work and qualifications for scholarships. Repeatedly have made it very clear they just want my money without providing any services of even considerable quality. I've tried to address this with the school and they have not even tried to communicate back with me for 9 out of my 10 attempts. This school is good but the instructor in the fundamentals class is no help I reach out to her at the beginning of the semester for help. she told me that she don’t get paid enough to be coming up with no 200 practice questions and told me to use my resources. They like to belittle you and say I got my degree aren’t you trying to get yours. I've been attending this school for a year now and it's horrible. The technology used in class is way outdated. They need a total upgrade because they place looks rundown. The professors are nice people but horrible instructors. I guess that's why they're teaching at a community college. The students there are very ghetto and immature. And all of my classes' subject matter is way to easy for a 9th grader to comprehend. It's definitely not a college level school. That's why I'm transferring to SLU next semester.The Legend

This is for the billing department: I would suggest not setting up auto pay for a medical bill. If you can send payments in or pay in full but do not give them authorization to debit automatically. I set up a payment plan and needed to change the due date a month before the payment was set to debit from my card. The day finally came to debit and they decided to take 50.00 more than what I set the plan up for. I called and was able to get the 50 refunded but the lady informed me there was a note on my account by a supervisor stating because I changed the date the plan took double and I was informed when I changed the date by a pop up box thru MyChart. That doesn’t make any sense at all. Why would someone go thru with changing the date of something to get double debited. If that was the case I may as well have set the plan up for 100.00. Anywho, today I get a notification from my bank stating another 100.00 dollars debited. Again the plan was only set for 50.00. So what’s the excuse this month??? Since they have instituted 6 sessions Columbia College has proven they are not about the students. By making this move they force students to take student loans or lose part of their Pell grant due to not being enrolled full time. They try telling their students that 6 sessions per year will benefit them. Being a student that is currently enrolled and have been for a few years now I can tell you it is of no good to the student. Not only does it cost us more but instead of having any type of break between already accelerated courses we only have two days off. This is ultimately going to lead to more stressed out students and lower GPA's. There was a time I recommended this College to everyone I came across. Now sadly I make it very clear Columbia College is the worst college you could attend. It is a joke. Rolla's new policy if we don't offer something you need in seat take it online. Not mentioning that not only are online courses significantly more expensive but the work that is required for these is beyond reason. I am talking at minimum double the workload of an in seat class. I'm currently enrolled at CC. This is the best college I've ever been to. The faculty is understanding and very helpful. They actually care about your education. My advisor was by far the best. She helped me through some very tough decisions and helped me to make the best financial decisions. I visited the enrollment center 3 times to change classes due to my own reasons and all three times they were understanding, helpful, and encouraging. I also went to the enrollment services about my financial status multiple times throughout the year and they were always there to help. They showed me my financial plan exactly including scholarships, loans, and grants. They explained everything to where I could understand and even printed me copies of my plan. BEST COLLEGE containing the VERY BEST PEOPLE! The other reviews that had one star and rude comments, it's because of their stupidity and closed mindedness. I had a terrible experience at this school. I would highly recommend not going to this college. They do not care about how you as the student does. All they care a bout is your money. You will NEVER hear back from any of your online teachers. I tried emailing a teaching with a question 3 times and not once did I hear back from the teacher. If for any reason you need to withdrawal they will not except it. Even if you withdraw a day or 2 after the deadline, they will make you pay every cent, even if you had good reason for the withdrawal. If you want to attend a college that cares about your needs and your success I would highly recommend choosing a different college because the only thing they care about at this college is getting your money. terrible people place full of liars and conmen! i had gone a few years back got student aid and had a bunch of things come up and had to drop out so i dropped out within the time frame so i wouldnt have to worry about paying anything back. cool few years go by and out of no where they are claiming i owe them money now and i argued this no one cared to look into this at all and now they take my state taxes every year to pay it back and they refuse to give me my transcripts to attend another college.. absolutely do not waste your time with them its a money sink they dont care about the students they dont care about education they have zero professional pride. honestly goto a proper college get a proper degree because these people dont care about anything but a paycheck. they do absolutely no investigating at all with anything ive got lists of things that happened where a proper investigation should have been done and they didnt. Having attended a number of 4 year universities, I am rather impressed with the quality of the instruction here … and at a fraction of the cost. As traditional private four year universities hunker down and concentrate on obtaining federal grants, and begging for scraps from alumni while generally ignoring the students, this school's mission is primarily educational. Sure the food isn't gourmet, and all the students aren't hand picked from private schools via house recruiters … but, in honesty, this school is more academically rigorous than many private universities, and without all the fluff that costs a pretty penny in tuition. In addition, unlike private universities, one can take classes here just for fun without breaking the bank; many such classes and certifications are offered for those wishing self-improvement and to learn without academics raining on their parade. I particularly recommend the Horticulture Program, it is both top notch and unique.Andrew Covey

I'm wrapping up my associates soon. Meramec is a pretty good college. Advisors are ok, very hit and miss but my advisor was great. Admissions people were not as great. Financial aid is good. Professors are 80% good and 20% bad. The bad ones are REALLY bad and drag down your experience here. Use "rate my professor" or talk to other students to find the good professors. I had a class with a professor that told us he hated his job and we could tell because that class was hell. I doubt many universities are any better because every place has at least a few bad professors. Do your research, advocate for yourself, sign up for good courses, and you will do great and save a ton of money.Katya R

The financial aid process is terrible and I have encountered many road blocks. It took me months just to sort out the paperwork with financial aid. My first semester IN CLASS was good. I enjoyed the class and the teachers were great. I tried to enroll in summer classes and found out I did not have financial aid. It would have been nice to know that this process must be done for each semester. I tried to get financial aid for the fall semester only to encounter another road block. The financial aid office states they need proof of citizenship. I have already provided documents stating I am a naturalized citizen and they have it on file. This is the same document they used to approve me for financial aid my first semester. Suddenly this documentation is not proof enough. Keep in mind I have not been contacted by the school stating this has been an issue. I had to call the school to figure out why I haven't been approved. They gave me the usual run around. Getting anything done at this school is like pulling teeth. If you can go somewhere else I would recommend to do that. Also the financial aid office has some bad attitudes… just want to update that my student loan payments are no longer deferred until after graduation. Im currently considered as unenrolled and my grace period has started which means i am required to make payments on my loans while also trying to re enroll back to this school. At this point i dont even want to go back to collegeStruggle

At the beginning of the year I received a pell grant that totaled my tuition for the entire year and then some. I was then advised that even though I had the money to pay for all of my classes and receive extra afterwards that they would not pay for two of my classes because they are not on my plan for my degree. I am going to a new school in the fall because scc is constantly changing requirements for their degrees and I have 3 classes that I have taken that do not count for anything. So I need those two classes to transfer but they keep emailing me to drop them before it “hinders my financial status”. They don’t pair you with an academic advisor and don’t really help you with choosing classes or advising you of anything beyond your first semester there. I also had a code that I needed for a book for my math class that totaled $60 dollars. I reached out to the financial aid department about this and they said that since the book was through a 3rd party that financial aid would not cover it. All in all this is not a helpful campus. They advertise that they’re a 2 year school but if I stay here it will take at least 3.5 to just get an associates degree. They don’t help with financial aid answers and don’t provide the necessary tools to have a healthy education. All in all I’d rather spend the extra 10 grand and go to a school that is helpful and understands students.Jillian Goetz

I have tried with my daughter to get her Aplus program figured out, and each time she or I go to the admissions desk/department, they seem to not really care and not anxious to help, almost as though they are bothered by her or I asking for help. I would recommend, if you have the option to go to another community college, to be sure to check if the administrative/admissions desk will be willing to help and read reviews about the college you are thinking about choosing. This was my first go around with a child entering college, but for my next 3 we will look for sure at other colleges and other options. If you can get past all the above, my daughter has not had any issues with the professors. So in summary, if you can get past admissions and administrators maybe a good choice. But just be aware you will be figuring things out on your own or plan to be very frustrated and put off due to their processes.The Hawk Seven

I graduated from Ranken several year ago and I can honestly say, this Technical college has to be one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made In furthering my education. I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to attend this college. You won't find gratification when attending school here, you'll take 24 credit hours a semester like I did earning an associates degree that won't help you on the outside. Just so you know, a full time student is 12 credit hours a semester. If you want to work in a trade, the trade will teach you everything you need to know free with a small commitment, or you'll pay back for the education you received if not completing their terms. So, save your money and go elsewhere. This trade school isn't worth attending. A Union will already give you the tools you need to become sucessful.Steve O

I heard so many great things about Ranken and wanted to go there, which I did. Unfortunately, things weren't going well/working out, so I only attended for a semester. I did the architecture program. I thought I would like Ranken and architecture, but I was wrong and was not happy with my major and the way things were going. It was a waste of my money, so I'm glad I made the right decision to leave after my first semester of my only year. If you go to Ranken, be careful to pick your major, and to especially make sure you don't waste your money. It goes to show that Ranken isn't for everyone.Henry Knarr

this place is horrible .security does nothing if you report something and choice to help students they became friends with . i was attacked by another student and i was the one suspended from the university while the attacker was able to walk free and still go which in there terms says he should be kicked out permanently while i fought the suspension. Also a good majority of the teachers only see you as a number i had a teacher who would let class out within 5 to 10 minutes when it was a hour and 40 minute class and another that refused to make sure everyone understood the problems and projects. if you go only go for a semester and don`t expect to have a happy college experience.isaiah crawley

The staff at the registrars office needs a lot of work. They have made the process of requesting a transcript a disaster. As a "catholic" educational institute the school should understand the need of transcripts and do their best to accommodate students in there path of continuing education. The staff needs to work on both their customer service skills and conflict resolution practices. The behavior of the staff during phone conversations and email correspondence has been completely inappropriate. Our firm would separate from individuals with their antics as soon as possible. I have been requesting my transcript since July 28 and my new school has still not received it. It my understanding that my transcript was finally sent on August 8 but I have been given no proof of that. UMSL understood my concerns on the situation and offered to accept the transcript via email. I sent an email to SLU at 10:40 asking them to send my transcript to UMSL via email as soon as possible. After hearing no response, I sent two additional emails at 12:30 and 2:00 but still received no response or indication my emails had even been requested. I finally called the school at 2:30 and the assistant registrar argued with for several minutes about how I was insulting and didn't allow them time to respond. However, she was well aware of the situation and knew who I was before I even mentioned my name. Instead of arguing for several minutes with a disrespectful attitude the correct method for resolution would have been apologizing for my experience and trying to accommodate my needs. After I explained it is taking more time to argue then to fix the situation I was told it would be emailed that day. At 3:30 I received a completely inappropriate email in which I responded with my concerns on how the school handled the situation. In my opinion the school is more of hassle than it is worth. You should always put the education of your students or former students first instead of treating someone with utter disrespect. I have asked to sit down with whoever oversees the registrars office. I have several suggestions on how the staff can improve and work with students in a respectful and helpful matter.Chelsea Langeneckert

It's a private university, so it costs more than others in the area, but if you have financial need or have great grades, you can get a LOT of help. The school itself feels very separate from the surrounding area. It's almost as if going into another city when you step off campus. The professors are wonderful, the reputation is good, and honestly the grounds are beautiful. I don't regret my time here and would happily attend again.Chelsea

St.louis is so lucky to have such a prestigious school in the heart of our city. Its so pretty and the campus is is pretty quiet at the moment due to covid but when everyone is on campus everyone you pass smiles and if you ever need help find a building everyone is willing to help point out the direction you need to go. I had a really good experience at Concorde. It changed my life a lot, I didn’t start at concorde first. I went to MCC just across the street from the campus and I honestly feel like it was a mistake to go there, feels like I wasted time and I did. I was going for the same career Medical Assistant and I was there for three years, not even learning the things I needed to become an MA. I loved that starting here I was learning and doing hands on. Which for me I learn best and I’m just glad where it has me now, I just finished externship and got offered a full time job where I’m at which is great. Do not go here if you want to be an RT. Financial aid department is incompetent. None of the credits transfer! The staff make contradictory statements or can’t give you a clear answer to your questions. You will have to chase down financial aid to get them to actually do their job. Money will go missing or they will tell you that you owe when you don’t. Your account will never be accurate or up to date.They need to be audited. All hospitals in STL think slchc is a joke which is why these students don’t get hired or have such a hard time getting a clinical rotation. No one wants students from this school. Response to comment: I personally know students who attend this school and I was in the process of applying until these things came to light from my experience thus far. The credits do not transfer. I can’t get a straight answer, and financial aid is incompetent. I don’t have to be currently enrolled to have dealt with these issues. And unfortunately the students who are enrolled who want to leave CANT because they would have to start completely over anywhere else due to credits not transferring so they unfortunately have no choice.Jeffrey Thomas

A lot of discrimination from the instructors and Dean. They pick and choose who they want to give points to. Med surg teacher stated "This group don't deserve to be nurses " "I will continue to change the test up so they won't be able to pass" and she did exactly that and nothing was done about it . The teachers didn't seem very interested or passionate about teaching. They were more concern about about watching daytime dramas, deciding what place to get lunch at and speaking ill of people behind their back. It seems that they decided to get into teaching in order to get out of the hospital. During the middle of the academic year they increased the tuition cost and gave no notification to the student body except by posting it on a website that no students visits or would reasonably expect to visit.Justin D.

North Central Missouri College has been my home for the past two years and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Since I have been involved in several things like Student Senate, PAS, Ag Club, and PTK I have grown immensely. There are several things to do here besides go to class. On campus, there are wonderful tutoring programs, a top-notch library, and amazing clubs/organizations. NCMC does not only have things to do but they have wonderful staff and faculty. Wonderful school!! Affordable, safe, diverse! The teachers and staff are knowledgeable and very helpful when it comes to navigating their students to success! The baseball program/coaching staff is great. NCMC also offers a phenomenal agricultural program. The newly built apartment style dorms are very nice! Ncmc is above all the others. The student and staff ratio is great. The teachers and advisor really do care about the students. Don't forget to have some fun with the many clubs and activities they have to offer. But when you need to study the library is the place to go. Poor communication amongst several departments. The school wants to hear your opinion and what is wrong and what is right, however, in truth they only want to hear what is good and refuse to tend to what is wrong. how are you supposed to fix what is wrong if you don't hear both the good and bad? Getting someone to respond back to you can be exhausting. The dean and the president of the school, even when asking for a meeting, will not respond. How can you truly help educate when you do everything to avoid making the experience of going to school or coming back to school a good one? Students are afraid to speak up because the instructors have the ability to retaliate with their grade for their transcript. I have offered to present numerous people, present students and previous students to the school who would love to have a conversation, yet the school ignores that option. it's quite sad and concerning when this school has the ability to be phenomenal, yet the management is horrendous. I am not a millennial and I do not believe in posting stuff straight off the bat to social media without giving the person, business or institution the opportunity to have a conversation and fix it first. How are you supposed to fix something that you do not know about? This is the reason why I take an old school approach. I have stated an emails whom I have had or tried to have conversations with. Essentially you all have my name and number. You all know how to get ahold of me put some effort into it if you truly want to have a conversation. I second the compliments about Latrice Brimmage in Academic Advising. She was very helpful in advising me. She PERSONALLY helped me such that it seemed relatively easy to get started at SWIC compared to how it might/could have been. During my enrollment process I came to realize all the obstacles that young people face and have to overcome to start in higher education. So many times these days you are told to go to such and such a website but Ms. Brimmage took a personal interest in getting me enrolled. She knocked down those obstacles and smoothed the way. I intended on stopping by her office and thanking her personally but my first semester, Fall 2021, flew by and I forgot about it. Btw, I'm a non-traditional, older, non-degree-seeking student.Roy

Campus is actually relatively nice, the campus is large the parking is just a bit confusing. I considered going to this school a while ago but I never went because the employees, didn’t even know about the course I was about to take and didn’t even know about the program I was looking into or that the school had it and tried to force unnecessary classes on me so I never went but other than that I’ve heard it’s a decent start off college to give u feel of it before u go to a uniAyyo Bbydoll
