So you want to be a chiropractor… While morally rewarding there are several key reasons I’d persuade new students from going the route of chiropractic. Don’t get me wrong, I love chiropractic, but from a financial standpoint, it’s a major disaster. Before getting any degree, look up what the average professional earns in the said field. That number, let’s say $80,000 (the average in MN) shouldn’t be more than what you need to take out in student loans to get the degree (with hopes of paying them back in a reasonable amount of time anyways). Currently the price tag of a chiropractic degree is in the realm of 156,000 without any living expenses. Add in your undergraduate degree and you are right at about 200k or so. Fiscally the numbers don’t add up. (Something I wish had told me prior to going to school). Now there will be people telling you, don’t worry about the cost, everyone pays them back just fine because there are programs for dismissal after 20yrs etc… and income based repayment… whatever. However keep in mind that those student loans, will be on your credit report, and despite the amount you pay on income based repayment, banks will be required to use the actual amount you’re supposed to be paying when determining whether you can get a mortgage on a house. So just be prepared to have to rent for a long time. The other problem I have with chiropractic, is that chiropractors are notoriously bad payers. To make decent money in the profession, you really need to own your own clinic. Most associate positions had a base pay of 30-50k and rarely pay over 60 with bonuses And no benefits. You have to be prepared for 40-50 hours a week of work plus lots of marketing outside of work hours. Same goes for if you own your own clinic too hours wise. Now if you can pay cash for your degree, by all means go out and do it. It’s a phenomenal profession to be in. The body can do amazing things to heal itself without medical intervention or drugs/surgery and helps a lot of people. However, for your own financial security and stress, there are tons of other professions, particularly ones you can do with just a 4-year degree that pay better that can be just as rewarding. Unfortunately, if you have to take out more than $100k in student loans, chiropractic is a bad choice. Right now, most students take between 170-240k for chiro degrees at northwestern. It’s too late for them, but do some soul searching… do you want to have student debt for the next 25 years that prevents you from getting a mortgage And makes life more difficult. I guarantee you, there my experience and feelings about the financial burden is not unique. Most of the chiros I graduated with no longer practice and a common theme being regret of going to chiro school. Avoid the biggest financial disaster of your life. Getting this doctor title isn’t financially worth it. To be honest, I’m surprised there hasn’t been a class action lawsuit on this for profit school yet. There is supposed to be a positive return on investment, not a lifetime of debt you’ll never pay off without loan forgiveness programs. (25yrs before you qualify) So before you decide, Google what a chiropractor makes in a year where you want to practice. It’s despairingly low for the cost of the degree.Dan Joseph

Wish I could've given it no stars. But one star will definitely work. The school is overpriced for what it has to offer. I don't believe you should have to pay $100,000 to learn a skill that can be taught for way less. Not to mention if you take on the program you have to take a loan out for living expenses. So it'll probably cost around $200,000 when it is all said and done. The program does not give you enough business and hands-on experience to be successful as a chiropractor. They say their science-based curriculum will help you when you get out in the field. Sadly enough that is not true. I've talked to numerous chiropractors who have went to that school, and have been dissatisfied about the information they learned. My advice if you're going to pursue a chiropractic education probably wait 10 years. How much you were going to make coming out of school will not even pay off the loans in 10 years.Nick Ciliberti

I started my online program two years ago at Alex Tech in Paralegal and Legal Administration. I was leery at first of the quality of education an online degree could provide. Alex Tech sets up their legal program so that you graduate with two associate's degrees, Paralegal and Legal Administration, in the two year time frame. The professors for both the legal program and the elective classes are quick to reply to questions. The online program provides flexibility that allowed me to work full time while going to school. I don't think it matters what your situation is, I would highly recommend the program to anyone.Rachel Barr

The staff and teachers were great. The teachers we toured with truely had our daughters education in mind and when they spoke with her they were truely interested about her career focus and really took the time to point out the great programs that would help her achieve her goals. A very nice campus situated on Lake Bemidji; the lake might double as a parking lot in the winter. Low tuition for Minnesota residents with scholarships available based on academics. If you score well on the ACT and have good grades or a high class rank you likely will get scholarship money. The friendly admissions staff is knowledgeable and provides individualized service. Most of the campus is connected by underground tunnels which is great on a cold or wet day.David S

My grandson attended 1 semester in 2017. The staff appeared to be helpful during the enrollment process. They had him in classes that he shouldn't have had to begin with…. he didnt have a choice to get generals out of the way. They wanted you to take classes that you would have to continue with there so you could never transfer anywhere else. When you set up an account online, if there was a problem getting access, they never assisted you. We ended up with a big bill because staff were never available or returned calls. When my grandson called to speak to them, their lines wouldnt even ring! I personally was present when this happened! He tried to call to tell them he wasn't returning for 2nd semester. Then he received a $980. Bill in July because he never notified them. When I called in May to verify all Bill's were totaled, they assured me it was correct. Then we got that letter in July! So by the time they turned the bill over to Mn Dept of Revenue for collections, they added another $2500. To collect. So the total was over $12,200. For 1 semester! Like I said, the staff appears to be helpful, but when theres a problem, they just arent available to help. Seemed a bit of a scam to me. I personally would steer clear from this institution. It's in a small rural community with very limited employment opportunities for a student to have a part time job. I graduated from 2009, and went to a junior college for my first two years. Following that I transfered to SMSU. Once I got to Marshall it was easy to see that I had downgraded. The Campus of SMSU is old and out dated, with poor parking set up. Parking it self is always a risk because of the random parking tickets that get issued. It seems like once a week a person could get a new parking ticket. Class sizes are fair to OK they are not as small as they boast about on the radio, and you are a number at SMSU they are business first organization. If there is a way that they can make an extra dollar or two off of their students they find a way how. Whether its changer around classes for majors so seniors are forced to take extras before they graduate or simply charging extra for classes. SMSU is not the campus the lead people to believe it is. I am from the area born and raised, and had alot of respect for the campus before I went there.. After spending 3 years at SMSU I am disappointed to say i would not recommend this school for everyone… Its a small campus with large campus mind set "SMSU where you are a number"Tim Johnson

I went here a year ago. It was definitely a high school feeling. It had the regular high school clicks. The gym wasn't even that great and was always being used by student athelte. Food was undercooked and it wasn't open the whole day. Housing was awful. The CA never in forced the quiet hours. The dorms and whole school needed updating. Academics was not that great. Professors kept leaving and class got canceled a lot. Class size was average. Financial aid was a pain. It took two to three months just to get a loan thrpugh. I wouldn't recommend to anybody until they do some updating.Zach D

I have had an amazing experience with Herzing University! I am excelling in my degree choice and I couldn't be more satisfied with my learning experience and the flexibility that the online program gives me.The instructors are all willing to help whenever I have a question, and if they see many students struggling with something, they will post an announcement with some helpful tips on how to proceed through our courses. The learning material is easy to understand, the discussion boards really help me connect with my classmates more than I normally would, the library is full of everything you might need for your studies, and the Coach rooms and Tutoring center are very helpful! I have seen many posts off and on about how students struggled in this school. I have to say the most common thing I see students struggling from in these courses is not doing the assigned work on time, not participating in the discussions, and not following the assigned directions on assignments. We have to take responsibility and do our work (on time!) or we will not succeed, and we should not blame someone else for our lack of trying. Just with everything else in life, if you do not put any effort into something, you will not gain anything from it. I stared with Herzing back in 2013 for my undergrad BSN RN. At that time, school was still establishing itself, therefore, I had some rough time getting through the program, but overall my experience was good. This year I came back for my MSN FNP and let me tell you ))) My experience with Herzing in 2019 is absolutely amazing. This school grew so much! This is not an honest university. They lie to students just to get their money and do not help students in any way. They even try shady tactics to steal your money like not allowing you to drop all your course within the drop/add period which is odd because that time frame should give you the authority to do so. They try to keep courses on your schedule so they can charge you for it. The financial aid department is rude and can never keep their information straight. You will always get a different answer with them. They are only nice to the students who get duped into giving them money, but if you ask them about your financial aid they get upset as if you are only supposed to be seen not heard. The staff are very unresponsive they do not pick up the phone, return phone calls and do not answer emails efficiently. An example if you ask them how much will it be for four courses and will it be costly. they will answer an answer like how many course do you plan to take. A lot of their answers either don't answer the question, don't make sense or are answering a question with a question. Plus, the cost per credit is very high for the type of school it is. Better schools have a lower cost per credit like schools on the east coast, south and west coast. The President ignores students and doesn't respond to them. Plus, a lot of the staff is lazy. A task that only takes a day or two to complete with take them three weeks. Upon admission they omit a lot of important information to lure you into their program. DO NOT ATTEND THIS UNIVERSITY! This is by far the worst run school I have ever seen. First, the front offices can’t tell if you’re coming or going. They tell you everything is in order but then come back to you after classes are starting and tell you they forgot to submit your paperwork. They also like to have you sign up for programs they have zero possibility of even having get off the ground. So once your registered they pull a bait and switch on you and drop you into a program until your desired program eventually starts. Hint: the program never starts so you owe them a lot of money and never even get the degree you originally desired. This place definitely treats you more as a dollar sign than a student and couldn’t care less about your goals or future. Only that you pay them on time. There is some serious shady business that takes place in this school. Especially in the business programs. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to find out that they will be under investigation for secretly operating as a “For profit institution”. Hint: they will be soon because they have been reported. Also, don’t expect them to offer you any form of apologies, even when they know they mess up. When three students in a program confront the administrators and program chairs about their desire to learn, and the lack of cooperation from instructors, the entire management team runs and buries their heads in the sand. Honestly, my best advice is to cross this school off your list if you value your future, or have any interest in a real education. I'm sure this would be a good school if I was able to actually login and do my work without a problem on a daily basis. But since I have to call the Help Desk everyday to get my password reset so I can get online and do my work, I can't tell. I have no problems logging into any other websites or accounts, and I have dozens of them. But try as I might to do something simple like put in a username and password and be able to get into the site and do my work seems to be a monumental challenge to this school. I've had two classes so far and my experience doing work here is traumatic. I absolutely dread coming to the computer to login because I know it's going to be an hour on the phone with the help desk and they're going to assume the problem is with my computer, like they always do. Someone needs to fix the schools' computer problem and stop blaming students for having login problems.Dino De Rosa

Think twice before attending this institution. I was enrolled to begin classes in the fall semester. One week before they began, DCTC contacted me saying they no longer offered the program that I signed up for. Again, ONE WEEK before classes began. This left me almost no time to scramble around looking for another school to attend for the fall semester. That kind of behavior is unacceptable and extremely unprofessional. The whole process just felt off anyway. They were always slow to respond, they fought every step of the way when I presented transfer credits from another institution. I was somewhat relieved in a way knowing I wouldn't have to deal with them any further. What a waste of time.Adam

Didn’t have the best experience overall. The instructor for the automotive technology class was only genuine once while he was teaching me something. Every other time, there was sarcasm and rudeness when trying to ask him questions. Not to mention half of the kids (quote “kids”) in the class were constantly on their phones and messing around. I wouldn’t have minded, except that we were placed in groups, therefor graded as a group. Someone from admin called me a year or so after graduation and asked if I had gotten anywhere with my degree. Much of the SCSU campus is beautiful & worth a long walk or bike ride. Lovely historic old buildings & newer buildings show fascinating architecture. Plenty of gardens, benches & green space. Perfect for a decent environment on campus. Nice planning by SCSU leadership! Congrats! Unfortunately…. the city of St Cloud didn't have the same insight & planning skills. Some of the surrounding college neighborhood buildings are owned by cheap, incompetent, opportunistic landlords. Many rental houses & apartments are Ugly eye sores….and this reflects poorly on SCSU!! WHY THE HELL did the city of St Cloud not have stronger building, housing rental codes & regulations? For many years the City Council & other city leadership groups failed SCSU. The nearby older historic homes (on lovely tree lined streets) were once very nice….yet were allowed to seriously deteriorate & become a drawback. This has hurt SCSU regarding new perspective students, home buyers, businesses & visitors. Shameful….for years there must have been Very poor, weak, inept leadership in the city of St Cloud!!! I realize there have been some recent efforts to turn this neighborhood mess around. But the pitiful planning & damage was done over many decades….and the city is facing a very uphill battle. And sadly… SCSU has been left holding the proverbial bag.Richard Quigley

St Clous State isn’t too bad if you don’t care or aren’t paying out of your own pocket. The quality education is low. Lack of resource for students to succeed. Decent professors. Cleaning staffs and financial administration are great. Lacks student diversity and safety. Dorm security needs to be more secure, especially in Sherburn Hall. SCSU get most of their money from international Napel students. Student population is 80% Napel. Highly discourage anyone to attend. First semester/year, you’ll wish you never wasted time and money on SCSU. That’s why their graduation rate is so low (below 50%), students transfer out after attending the first semester/year. Academic Advisors are burnt out, and 1 per program with over 100 students. They don’t know what they’re talking about most of the time. Double check your transfer credits with the head professor of the actual department.Asia Love

Homecoming was fun but not very many participants. The school originally pushing it into October didn't help and then canceling it all together for a large part of a decade. The alumni and students kind of either don't remember or are apathetic towards the concept. The city and the school need to work together with the alumni, student organizations (especially the greeks who have a vested interest in their alumni) to make people interested in coming back every year. My husband & I graduated from what was then Bethel College & Seminary in 1968. My years there are among the best of my life! We were privileged to sing with the College Choir – the best of the best of my lifetime experiences. I most highly recommend Bethel to anyone trying to select the best college to attend. I especially recommend it to music majors as their music program is outstanding! Bethel is a Christian University with a student body consisting primarily of dedicated Christian young people. As with any Christian school, there are a few students who are sent there by their parents with the hope that the school will straighten them out. Fortunately, these students are few and far between! So forever grateful I was able to spend 4 amazing years at this school. I am not sure what the other people reviewing recently are talking about, as I felt the community at this campus is very welcoming and friendly. It is a catholic school so they do teach and emphasize catholic studies, however there are many classes that center around other beliefs. I never felt like my beliefs were being stomped on, and I am not catholic. Also, if you are worried about your social life and getting the college experience, don't be! You can definitely still have the college experience and attend St. Kate's. The campus always has activities going on, and there are many schools in the area. First I want to say my advisor was amazing she was super helpful through all this mess. I was supposed to start this month but they said they were missing things so I couldn’t get in until the next semester when they had everything. but we had already sent them everything we had sent to every other college we applied to. They were the only ones we had this problem with. They then today told me that we weren’t gonna be accepted due to the fact that they don’t accept the accredited bodies that my school was accredited by due to varying standards idk what that means. After spending 4 1/2 years at UNW my thoughts and experience would take a book to finish. But I'll try to be short. Pros. I loved most of my professors. I had professors who actually cared for my success and are willing to go out of their ways to help. Many of my professors knew me personally and I wasnt just a number in their schedule. Which I can't say my other friends from other colleges can say. UNW pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me realize what my passions are; through realizing how much I disagreed with the institution, but nevertheless I matured. The friends I've made. True and great friends who all felt the same. lol Cons: granted not every student is and thinks the same, but there's enough consensus to make me believe the school does way too little to better itself. Too much of the school thinks they're past racism. Whenever we reach a topic on anything related to culture or race we would have less than 2 days to talk about it while other topics used a week easily. Professors uncomfortability trumps the need to discuss out issues. Teachers have openly say diversity is the issue. 100% of school advertisement would showcase vast variety of diversity and multiculturalism, yet students of color makes less than 5% of the entire body. And 95% of the students in the advertisements don't even go to Northwestern. I know this because I know most of those students and they've graduated years ago. Academically it was subpar for the price of admission. Tuition jumped $10,000 within the time I was there. The school preaches love yet it's hard to find any. As a student of color, for years i felt so out of place. We were referred as a horde of animals, we were unvalued, and were expected to fit into that sameness the school holds on to. I've heard and seen many use their gospel to reject our presence. They're friendly on the outside but could care less about who you are. There's more I can say, but my verdict is this: if you like monoculture, ethnocentrism, expensive decent academics, and want to go back to your tiny town, then Northwestern is great for you. If you're a student of color who wants a supportive community, a student body that strives for cultural acceptance, understanding, and REAL gospel love equaled with high academic quality, go somewhere else. This school needs to adapt to the supply and demand of skills in the market workplace. There are more students than there are jobs demanding the skills that this college and colleges in general is teaching. For example, the MIS program focuses heavily on programming and not enough in other IT skills such as business intelligence, data analytics, business/systems analysis, and quality assurance. Sure, this program and its current state of heavy programming courses has worked well for most alumni's to get roles in both programming and non-programming jobs but that is not the case for some students that do not have that high of a GPA. These students will have a TOUGHER time finding a job in a IT role that they want because they were not given the ability to choose more courses relevant to their career choices as opposed to a student that is more technical savvy and understand technology in general better. Not saying that these students with lower GPAs won't find a job but just that it will be 2-3 times as tougher. Companies are looking for more than just programmers but yet UNW and colleges in general continues to push a lot irrelevant coding courses on them that they will never use. I have been out of this school for a while and not once have I have had the need to use java, xml, and visual basis nor did the roles I have interviewed for (from the IT topics I listed above) have asked for it. A lot of companies are hiring for business/systems analysis, business intelligence, data analytics, and quality assurance but programming is the main focus for this program. This program is still stuck in the 80s-90s. This school needs to start adapting to the supply and demand of the workplace market.James Smith

I loved parts of my time on at Northwestern. I was in choir, played on the men's soccer team, and participated in various student clubs. But let's be real, Northwestern is only a friendly place if you are a white evangelical who is cool with patriarchy and spiritualized ethnocentrism. Do not attend if you are a person of color. They are institutionally racist and theologically conservative. I majored in education ( I now teach in South Bronx) and was not trained well to educate a diverse classroom. I even had professors deny racism was a real issue … In education, are you serious? (Can you say school to prison pipeline ?) The biblical studies department act like the Jesus police, and do not appreciate any perspective outside of selective biblical literalism. There are a few shining stars on staff who think outside the box, but they are literally apart of the underground and cannot speak openly in fear they will be excommunicated and fired. One saving grace is that Ron Ginn got me a placement teaching in North Minneapolis where I found great mentors. Such a sweet and loving man. This is a wonderful place if you are straight, conservative, classist, theologically conservative, white and plan to never interact with anyone outside of white evangelicalism. Be prepared to have loving people shame you with the bible if you think differently or look differently. The staff at this college is absolutely phenomenal (or at least the staff I have met this far). They went out of their way to help me in a situation I didn't ever think would have a resolution. This place forever changed my life. I thrived in the small class sizes and hands on approach to labs. Dunwoody has close ties to industry professionals that help shape and guide the curriculum. I currently attend a different college online. I have four remaining courses left of my program, three are offered spring semester while one isn't offered until fall. The one course I need that isn't available at my current college is available at Inver Hills which is why I enrolled in the course for spring. Upon completion, the course I take will transfer back to my original college so I can graduate spring. I have worked out all the details with my current college about this arrangement. I need Inver Hills to provide some bits of information and complete a form. I have spent the last week calling Inver Hills to which nobody responds. I have tried calling different departments-financial aid, admissions, etc. to which nobody responds. I have sent multiple emails to which I received only one response telling me to look at the Web site. Inver Hill's communication with students is terrible! This is ridiculous. What are the advisors and admission staff doing all day where they cannot be bothered to answer a phone call, email, or provide information?!Kat Elizabeth

I haven't even started the semester yet and have had everything that could possibly go wrong do so. They transferred my credits incorrectly which set back my registration by a few weeks, after two months my financial aid is still "processing" even after multiple phone calls being reassured it would be through the next day. Having no financial aid means my text book order was cancelled. And a week before classes start they dropped one of my courses putting me short on credits for graduation. No matter what time of day I call any department no one ever seems to answer and we play phone tag for days. All in all my experience seems to indicate that no one really cares about helping students and just goes through the motions. I must ask those who complained about this school why did you enroll? I found my education and time here at Inver Hills highly useful. Why spend 64 credits when you can earn your 2 year degree for 60 credits and half the cost of your tuition at other community colleges? If you make the most of your time in school and do your work on time. You could get a lot out of it and done with a degree with the field of your choice. You can even take an advanced degree such as a Bachelors here. I love that I do not need to go to a main campus and take courses at IHCC. They want everyone to attend classes on campus. Come on. They proudly and loudly proclaim "Saint Paul College – We're Back this Fall". There are multiple new COVID variants out now with record hospitalizations in MN but Saint Paul college wants us all on campus. My wife and I are both working from home. Our employees cared enough about our safety to let us do this, but Saint Paul college wants us all on campus. My wife is taking classes at a private college and they told her all classes will be online, at least for now. No need to risk your health and come in, but Saint Paul college wants us all on campus. Thankfully I did my research by talking to them and decided against going here. Spending a little more so that I can stay at home and take my Lit classes online. Don't bother with this place. If you can, spend a little extra and have the peace of mind that you won't end up in the ICU with a tube down your throat. There, I did my research so you don't have to. Feel free to call them. They literally want everyone back on campus. Ridiculous and unsafe.Dana Cooper

I havnt attended this school, & along with my experience so far & reading the reviews I may not. I have a degree; however, I work as a nursing assistant. I love my job, but I often see aids being treated pretty poorly. So, as I get older, I thought maybe I could look into being an LP . In this role, I could work fairly with the aides around me…blah, blah, blah. So I requested more information. I recieved no call back, only an email saying I had to put an application in. Eh, no. I want information from you, to see if this is a good fit, so I can decide if I want to put an application in….I guess, maybe within the bigger picture, I did get the information I needed.Jane Hallett

I ate at the City View Cafe at St. Paul College. This is the cafe that is operated by the students in the culinary program. I recently enjoyed the Valentines Tasting menu and it was fantastic. The only criticism I had for the meal was the shell on the dessert was a bit thick (I cannot believe I am complaining about dessert). It was hard to gracefully eat but it was so worth it. The combination of flavors was divine. If this meal was any indication of the talent these students have, we are going to have sone great chefs (hopefully in the Twin Cities area) in the future.Sharon Moen

I will be completely honest. I did some PSEO courses here and thought it was a nice campus. There is some struggles and problems with the school, but nothing to make this not a choice for a college. Teachers are nice, most of the students are fine and just do there own thing, there is a couple of clubs and activities, and the class sizes see to be reasonable (smaller than JMHS). I think it is a good campus and should be considered an opinion and not thrown to the curb when looking for local colleges.Burner Account

What a joke… My wages are currently being levied for a semester I did not even get to attend! The Financial Aid/Counselor I worked with helped me sign up for all the classes needed for that semester but did not inform me that I had no available financial aid. By the time, I discovered this (3 weeks into class) it was too late to withdraw without paying full price. I called multiple people at the school but all refused to help or did not know how to help. Though some teachers care quite a bit the majority could care less about you and more about there personal life. Scared to walk around without being robbed. Worst school I have ever been too. Curriculum is nothing short of a disappointment. And to request help from anyone you might as well be strung up and laughed at in the main entry.Samantha Erickson

Great place until you have an issue, “the person you need to talk to isn’t here today” well I guess “the person I need to talk to” hasn’t been there since 2019. Have really given this school every chance under the sun to do the right thing but nothing ever gets done, 3 years trying to resolve an error (made by the school) and here I still am. And “the person I need to talk to” still isn’t there. The overwhelming majority of staff is wonderful and dedicated to their jobs, however there is a painfully obvious lack of competence in upper level leadership. I have called/showed up well over 25 times trying to get things squared away and nobody ever reaches out. Have had staff email other staff to no avail. I am truly in disbelief at the complete and total lack of accountability associated with this school. Maybe this will get their attention…Ben Smith

I was in school here in 2011, 2 weeks in I had a seizure and couldn't continue, instead of taking me off the roster, they waited until the next government check came, I just finished paying off this loan, I wouldn't recommend this schoolSteve Stanfill

Bethany Lutheran Church, worshipping virtually (Zoom), physically distancing, but keeping our ties is now conducting the Sunday at 10 am Worship Services from the beautiful Gundale Chapel on Augsburg Campus. At this time limited to only worship leaders on site we are looking forward to when we can safely gather in person. Augsburg University and especially Leif Anderson has been wonderful to work with as Bethany moves out into the community and into a public church in passing on its physical building to Augsburg. Augsburg's support of spiritual and faith growth of its students and community within different religions is a joy to see and Bethany is glad to be a part of that.Lorraine Wookey

The cafeteria is subpar, not only in food quality, but in sanitary means. There is low variety and Augsburg encourages food waste by requiring that students' meals fit certain criteria, because they are paid to do so. As for cleanliness, the floors are sticky, and it is common to find a crushed banana or two on the floor. The tables and floors are not cleaned regularly, if at all, resulting in an unhealthy eating environment, full of bacteria. Not to mention, this school encourages unhealthful habits such as food waste and cleaning habits. This cafeteria should not remain in service.Ansel Erol (Sir. Anselot)

My mother, sister, and I are all proud alumnus of Augsburg (Class of 97', 08' & '16). The professors are great – they are always willing to help a student. Every year, at the beginning of the Fall Semester, students go out and volunteer around the community. They invite well-known speakers (i.e. Bill Nye, Steve Wozniak, and Jimmy Carter) to campus; both the public and students are invited to attend. They are open to all regions, not just Lutherans. I would recommend this school to anyone, but consider going to Community College then transferring, it helps with the cost.Tiffiney Biorn

When I first started signing up for my MBA I advised them that I had just graduated with my bachelors degree. My goal was to start August 5, and I submitted all my necessary paperwork and cooperated as such. When it got to my transcripts I was advised I could not start because the conferral date was not on the transcripts. The enrollment specialist told me to reach out to my previous school. I did and it was a hassle. I called the enrollment specialist at Capella to advise of the updates to only find out that Capella’s registrar team had already been in contact with my school. I wanted to start on the 5th as it was very discouraging to go through the process to be turned away at last minute. 1). Total waist of time as I took time out of my day to complete orientation and do what they advised of me. 2) I asked to speak with a supervisor who was very vague and could not provide the information needed. 3) I again called Capella to try and escalate the situation, but the manager never returned my call. I feel as if they had me sign up because they were the ones to get paid for each student to enroll and failed to educate me properly in the beginning, which is very misleading and discouraging. Since no one wanted to comply and take responsibility I will be escalating this to the BBB as this is not my fault and I should had been able to start in the promised time given and should have been educated properly.Tearra McCray

The worst university ever! They made me waste my time and my money from the first day, every time I communicated with them each counselor told me something different, and more than a month passed and I did not have an accurate answer on the status of my application, after a month a person from human resources let me know that I had to do my transcripts equivalency again on another website because the one I had already sent twice to them waiting for they review it (and that they themselves told me it was okay to do it that way) was not valid for them to take me into account to start the course this past October. 1- First time the transcripts were not encrypted, so they asked my to ask the institution they send it again but encrypted this time and I did it and sent it again. And after that they let me know that didn’t work for them. So I wasted my time, my money and above all the opportunity to start on the desired date. A very bad job of the staff. Very bad communication with the students who want to start there, and they also contradict each other. They all say different things and waste your time. They are also very rude. I hope that no one has this bad experience, nor misses the opportunity to start the course on the date they planned, and due to the horrible work of other people you lose opportunities in life.Claudia Espinosa

From the beginning of my Master's level school search, Capella stood out. I had a great recommendation from a friend already, but in researching complete online programs to work with my schedule, Capella checked all of the boxes I needed. I had a wonderful experience with my admissions counselor and continue to have great interactions with all communication. I am happy with all faculty thus far and feel that I am learning exactly what I need for my future as a school counselor. The course load is what I expected it to be and the time I spend on classwork is time well spent. I feel very confident that I will be prepared to enter the field of school counseling when I graduate. The very first thing Capella does once you are enrolled is to start you in a class to help navigate your program and get you familiar with the online format. This helped immensely and calmed my nerves for entering into a graduate program online. I feel very well cared for and have not had a negative experience yet! I would tell anyone that knows someone looking at going here, to seriously consider going elsewhere. There are so many other colleges or universities that they could attend. There are numerous issues my wife has run into with this place. My wife graduated from this place about twelve years ago and went back to get her nursing degree. It was a great college to attend back then, very accommodating, high standards, and the personnel very helpful. However, it has changed a great deal. The front office personnel are rude and not that helpful. My wife had to go three different occasions to give them her transcripts (high school and college). They kept asking for them even though these should have been on file since she graduated from there. I can't remember the person she talked to but she was very rude and didn't want to be bothered. My wife just talked to her advisor and they changed the standards and prerequisites to enter the nursing program. They changed these just two weeks ago in the middle of a semester. You think that would be changed for the following semester not during one. My wife is supposed to be grandfathered into the program since she did her entent to enroll prior to these changes. Now they are changing rules, standards, and prerequisites on her mid-semester. She has to get a full grade higher than she did prior or risk having to do it again or dropped. Not sure that is even legal. Also, they are trying to make her take courses and the accuplacer test, which she has already taken. This is very costly to do again. Not just the money but with time as well. I have heard them doing this to others, must be a good money maker. There are other issues as well but I don't have time to name them all. If you are considering going here or know someone who is, please be careful and beware is all we can say. They can change what they want whenever they like at your expense.Michael Broton
