20 Best Sonography Programs In Indianapolis, IN (2022 Updated)

Horrible school. I attended the school for about 2 years and have a better experience at the DMV. I was told in high school by a Cincinnati State that my credits would transfer from Cincinnati State to University of Cincinnati seamlessly – they did not. In fact when I went to UC, they stated they could accept me as a transfer student but none, zero, NADA – of my credits would transfer. I applied to Miami University (Ohio) and was able to have 3 classes transferred. Miami was also cheaper at the time than Cincinnati State. I had to start all over from scratch after 2 useless years at Cincinnati State. The staff at Cincinnati State, including the teachers, were low quality. Staff seemed to brush off any concerns you have. Asking for help? Only the minimum is provided to guide you in the direction you need. Teachers mostly seemed to be low quality and bottom of the barrel – I only had 2 teachers that were okay out of 2 years. A few teachers I was able to show issues with tests or exams – although they agreed that I was correct at the time, one refused to fix the exam grades for everyone because "That is what the test key answer is and she would have to go back and regrade all the tests"… Sorry? That is literately your job… The next teacher could not understand the wording of their own test question that they provided (online) and would not correct the answer for the students. I communicated this error via email and was pushed away. I pushed back stating the teacher was incorrect and provided the work as to why the answer was wrong, in a professional tone. The teacher responded unprofessionally by changing the color of the text in the email to red, downplaying my proof, not using punctuation, and using unprofessional language. I dropped the class as this is not a teacher in my eye; but someone who is there for a paycheck. Cincinnati State had a graduation rate of just over 12% when I attended. 12% of students graduate from this school…. For the 2019 year it is now 17.9%. The odds of you attending this school for 2-3 years and graduating are very low. You are better off attending a real college if you are serious about your future. The overall poor quality as well. I have never experienced so many arguments between teachers and students in a classroom before. After class is over, everyone leaves campus immediately unless they have another class within the next hour or so. The current ad campaign that is on TV does not portray the school correctly. The average age of students is middle age. There is very few labs due to limited budget. Little to no student engagement events. Printers were not free. Book store was a COMPLETE ripoff, some classes did not require the book due to costs. Teachers would not communicate to students about schedule changes in tests and exams effectively for online classes (I missed my final Physics exam due to this). Save 2 years of your life and go somewhere else. I am not the only one with a really bad experience. If you know someone that attended or attends Cincinnati State, talk to them. You will typically find they did not graduate or they think it is okay but plan to transfer to another school before they finish. My experience at Cincinnati State was something of a mixed bag. I had previously attended a 4-year university but was seeking a career change. Given the low cost of attendance that community colleges provide, I figured that Cincinnati State would be a great option. My first year of studies were great. I had some very kind professors who genuinely cared about the students and the material that they taught. Some faculty members could be a bit rude at times, but that is to be expected in higher education. After my first year, I truly felt like I was on the way to great success. My second year on the other hand turned out to be quite the opposite. During my first semester back from co-op, I received notification that I had been dropped from two classes without explanation. Upon reaching out to the registrar, I was told to contact my program chair/advisor. Upon reaching out to my advisor, I was not given any guidance. I felt like I was really left to my own devices to try to figure out how to schedule my classes. In addition, I found the teaching quality to be quite disappointing. In the one class that I was able to take that semester, my professor did not once hand out a syllabus or explain the grading rubric. I persistently asked him when grades would be given back, and he would give me a specific date. Only once did he ever give back grades on said date. The rest were given at the end of the semester, thus leaving all students in a state of anxiety over what our final grade would be. He stressed the importance of attendance and punctuality but was hardly ever on time for class. On some occasions, he even made me late to work because class would run over. For these reasons as well as the problems mentioned earlier about the administration, I decided not to return to Cincinnati State. In short, Cincinnati State is a good option for those seeking a low-cost education, and there are some great programs and professors here. However, the unorganized and highly bureaucratic administration combined with some exceptionally unprofessional professors keep the school from being as great as it could be. Please tread lightly if considering Cincinnati State now or in the future.Nick Workman

My review was removed probably by google because I mentioned that I don’t appreciate how their curriculum is trying to indoctrinate you. It’s other wise a good school. I got my degree in two years and had no problems. The instructors for my program were great. But it’s absurd in my opinion that a college feels the need to assert their opinions in to every core class. My English class was consistently wanting us to watch TED talks that talked about political standpoints. My sociology professor was the absolute worst. Even if you did an assignment and followed the rubric, but disagreed with her opinion, she would give you a lower score. Then try to justify it by using her own opinion as sources. She also said that anyone who believes in God is likely uneducated. Overall, my experience was good and I’m glad I got my degree here. But it’s just too liberal for my taste.Britt Jones

Definitely live on campus if you are looking for the full college experience. I've lived here for 3 years as an undergraduate and the facilities are very nice and the people very helpful. It's easy to find a job through the university and the research opportunities in science blow many other universities out of the water. Scholarships are also abundant if you know where to look and ask around. Professors range from fantastic to poor like at any university. I believe there are over 300 organizations and clubs to get involved in and always neat things like movies playing, dances, carnivals, etc, you just have to know to look for them. The campus is beautiful, especially in the spring and summer when the fountain is going and everyone is lounging outside. IUPUI is what you make of it, and getting involved is the best way to experience it.Amber Goad

As a 36-year old student who is employed full time and has a growing family to support going back to school to get a degree, I am mostly pleased with the experience of the last full school year. I've had a couple of lousy instructors, but for the most part I really enjoy the instructors I've had. I'm learning a lot of important information that will help me as an employee. I am currently a junior at IUPUI. Year after year I am always excited to come back to school! The campus is modern and in the middle of the city! There is always an event happening somewhere on campus, so you are always having the college experience. I love IUPUI and I think that it is the best university ever!Payton

Overall I am satisfied with Ross. I don't appreciate that they couldn't keep an instructor for my Anatomy class. It made my learning experience a little difficult have to continually train new instructors and then instructors having to adjust and figure out how to do the job. Communication among administration was somewhat dicey when I first started but has since gotten better with changes in staff in that area. I feel they were very accommodating when things weren't going well in life outside of school and I really appreciated that. The instructors are great! And are all very fair in various ways. I have highly enjoyed my time here and have learned so much and look forward to learning more out in the field. overall my experience at Ross was good. throughout the beginning it was a bumpy start due to all the teacher changes and being unorganized. It also seemed like a lot of rules were changing in a snap of a finger and that didn't give us much of a heads up. one day homework is due at 9:15 then out of nowhere it was due at 9:00 without a notice for example. Had applied to this school for the MRI Program. Paid all the fees for application, transcripts, etc. Took the entrance exams and passed. Received my classes/schedule and sent them my fafsa. I had been registered for my classes already. I did an interview, the person that interviewed me was not professional, believe her name was Danielle Dertz. When trying to answer questions, i was cut off constantly and put down. Then right when everything was set and done for me to start the course, they give me a call that they do not want me as a student. My time was wasted, as well as money. They thought that I was not a good fit for the program because it is "too stressful". Previously, I was a full time student as well as a full time employee and received my degree from a different school with good grades, so I was stunned at this claim. They based this claim off of a previous job I had quit which had no relation to the MRI program itself. Instead of giving me a chance, when i expressed my interest and drive for the school i was shut down. Really disappointed in how i was treated as a student in the pandemic wanting to further my education Reply to response: The fact that you guys based your decision of my admittance on a job I worked over a year ago is disappointing. Both careers are very different from one another, so it’s sad that it is assumed that I wouldn’t be able to handle the program. My grades and achievements proved otherwise, but that was completely overlooked. I noticed with other reviews that many students had issues with the interview process as well. One would think after so many complaints something would be done about it but i guess not. As a student wanting to further their education, being discouraged because of a decision made, once again, over a year ago, was very disappointing. CNA is not the same as MRI. Many things change after over a year. The way I was put down by the Program Director was very upsetting and unprofessional. And I had also received a full schedule for the program. All of my classes were listed. You guys had waited to tell me that I was no longer accepted, hence my time being wasted. Instead of telling me right after the interview, you guys had waited. Midwestern Career College is a phenomenal institution! The staff, students and alumni are some of the most driven and intelligent people I have ever met. I originally met Mary Schmidt in 2018 and was fortunate to form a great business relationship after attending a career fair at the Chicago campus. While I originally attended this career fair strictly looking for Medical Assistants to hire, Mary educated me on the Externship Program that the institution offers. Mary was so kind to visit various UroPartners locations to further discuss this program with our Practice Managers. After many introductory visits, UroPartners started placing externs last year. We have now placed six MA externs and three of those individuals are full time employees who are still with the company today! In addition to that, our surgery center is now also participating in this program as they have started placing Surgical Technologists externs onsite. It has been amazing to watch this program grow and I look forward to all the future success Midwestern Career College and UroPartners will form together.Yasmine Lozano

I’m currently a student enrolled in the EKG program and I’ve really appreciated the take on online education. We have an in person class once a week that really brings the class together and elaborates on key points. The facilities are really nice, the class I’m in is in their downtown building, and I have an outstanding opportunity to learn about my field. The class sizes are not big so there’s always opportunities to ask questions and clarify for my own sake. The teachers are very helpful and are more than willing to go the extra mile for their students which is amazing because you just won’t always get that at a bigger school. All in all I’ve really enjoyed my time at at Midwest career college and will be recommending this course of study for any of my friends or family looking to get an education in any of the many fields that MCC has to offer!!Michael Goubine

I was never a student there but do have an experience I would like to share with anyone thinking about going there. In 2014 I cosigned on a student loan for $8000 so that the student could graduate. Three months after she graduated she defaulted on this loan. Lincoln Tech Accounts Receivable contacted me as the cosigner and was demanding payment. In order for my credit to not go bad I agreed to pay on this loan. As part of paying on this loan Lincoln Tech agreed to provide me with a printout of all the payments and a copy of the loan agreement once the loan was paid off. Kept my end of the agreement and made the last payment in May 2022.I have been in contact with several employees of the campus as well as the accounts receivable. No one so far has followed through with the original agreement that was made in 2014. I am thoroughly disappointed by the way Lincoln Tech has handled this and notlived up to their agreement. I feel that this is a huge example of their lack of professionalism as well the fact that they do have these repayment reRichard Arndt

It was a great experience to be able to set up a table for the Spring Career Fair here. I was a recruiter with UPS & we had a wonderful time talking with their students! All students were professional, polite, & knew what they wanted out of their career. It was set up & run wonderfully. Restrooms and parking were very easy to find. Lunch was provided for employers and it was delicious, I was happy they had meat & veggie options. Our one suggested improvement would be to have more trash cans available. We had a great experience on 10/7/2022 at a Job Fair that our company was invited to hosted by Lincoln College of Technology. As we pulled in we were greeted by staff and our table was waiting for us. Great looking facility. The Dean of Students was kind, answered our questions and thanked us for coming. When it comes to sciences and social sciences (i.e. psychology), the instructors are comparable to many those you would find at Ball State or any other 4-year college. The depth of many of the courses also go beyond what is covered in the same amount of time at a 4-year college. On example is the Anatomy and Physiology courses. While BSU has the two subjects in separate semesters, the depth is not the same. So, like any college the experience can go both ways but the education is comparable to that one might receive at a 4-year college. People forget that just because it is a 4-year college doesn't mean the instruction is any better.James Barnes

This school is a joke, especially if you're a technology major. Curriculum changes every year so classes you take at the beginning quickly become obsolete. Faculty use this campus as a stepping stone to better, nicer campuses so expect them not to be around long. Equipment is old, and scarce to begin with. Save yourself the trouble and travel to a better campus like Fort Wayne. Even if i lived a block from this campus i would still drive to Fort Wayne for classes. That is how bad this campus is. Biggest joke in town. Has stated by another person the online classes are a joke and they have no structure. You also have to set up specific times to go to a testing center which personally I feel is a joke. The last time I went in there there wasn't one person in there and they almost told me I had to schedule an appointment. Waited 4 months for my yearly appointment. Approved 15 mins early per their request. Waited an hour past my appointment time to ask if they really got me checked in. The receptionist confirmed they had. She came back a few minutes later telling me it would be another 30-45 minutes. Seriously, who has that kind of time to wait just to be taken to a room and wait another 30 minutes. After speaking with the manager who was zero help I walked out.Nichole Smith

Like the new efficiency. In past years I always had to wait several minutes past my appointment times not only to have my test done but then to see the doctor or the PA. All employees that I've dealt with have been very attentive and pleasant. They seem to be very caring and appointments aren't rushed. Have been going to this campus on and off for certain classes. I will say this campus is my favorite. It feels safe and people are super nice here. Classes that I have taken here usually are very small like maybe 15 students. Which is helpful more one on one time with the professor. Terre Haute and Indy campus are the best 2 campuses for particular degrees like Human Services. I have been to several campuses and these two are the best. I do feel like the Terre Haute campus is more relaxed and more enjoyable in my own personal opinion.Rachel Lewis

This is probably the worst school I ever attended. Some teachers love to belittle students and make them feel dumber and not take the time needed to show they care. I have been to the bookstore in downtown Indy once and I prefer to place my online order for books at this campus 100%. I live in Noblesville..So it is much more convenient and I recommend ordering online.Of course If you know your course number for each class you will need a book for or in my case I send the teacher a quick email prior to placing my order to male sure i have the right book. Staff is friendly somewhat…and tries to be helpful. It gets busy with the nursing students picking up scrubs and other medical supplies.The manager was not very nice to them. I have yet had problem with any of my orders (4 to be exact) since my 2 semesters at ivy tech. I also returned a book I no longer needed for one of classes and they helped me In less than 5 minutes. Just make sure you have your student id# (C***) along with your ID to pick up orders or return. Hope this helps!Jennifer Mejia

One of the better experiences I’ve had at an out patient center. Even though I ran late the receptionist greeted me as if I was early. Treated me as if I was on time and the wait for the technician was not that long. The Ultrasound Tech (wish I could remember her name) was Great! She brought an understudy in with her. Introduced the understudy and explained why she was in the room. They both greeted myself and fiancé with compassion and candor, I appreciated that. As the Tech took my Ultrasound she explained when pressure would be applied and explained to the understudy why. Doctor wait wasn’t to long. Dr came in and explained her findings and discussed Over all great experience. Highly recommended.Himher Shakes

Such an amazing experience. I had Lisa bring me back – she was kind as could be. And Lindsey did my ultrasound – she was AMAZING. Both women talked and interacted the whole time. She explained everything to me as she was going. She was so gentle and kind and caring. I haven’t had the best experiences so far with my other appointments but this place made me feel important to them. All medical personnel could learn a thing or two from these incredible women. I had a good experience while I was at the hospital. I had gone for a ultrasound and echo to check on my baby at 25 weeks. The techs were wonderful and we were very pleased. Then we decided to do the genetic testing blood work which we did receive a call about a few weeks later. I had missed the call and it came up potential spam. When I realized that I had overlooked the call & voicemail, I called back to discuss my results. However, I never got a follow up call or a call back. Switching to this school was the best decision I've made for myself! PCI is so inviting, from the teachers you get close with, to the fun random days that make us enjoy coming to class, all while learning up close and personal with my desired career, you get the most wonderful experience. I'm aware not everything is perfect but this place really makes you feel comfortable and confident with whatever you do. I'm personally part of the Vet Tech program and would not trade my experience so far here for anything! I have been attending Pittsburgh Career Institute for about 9 months now and it has been a very rewarding experience. I am enrolled in the vet tech program. From the very first day, at orientation, I felt fully welcomed and liked by the entire staff. We have an amazing group of instructors that truly care about seeing you succeed, but, you have to put the effort in. It is an extremely fast paced and overwhelming program…but if it is a career you are truly invested in, you make it work. On July 3oth and 31st we had a hands on small group course with Dr. randy Moore at our hospital .It was phenomenal. in the 2 days I not only learned a lot of scanning but also learned several injection tips . Dr. Moore not only hand held us through the injections but also worked as a model and let us inject on him . I have never seen that . It was an excellent course , worth every penny . I am a naturopathic medical doctor that specializes in regenerative medicine. The training I received from Randi Moore in musculoskeletal ultrasound was fantastic. Spent an entire day one on one with Randi and learned a great deal how to do musculoskeletal injections effectively. I also was able to learn how to identify pathology and normal structures via ultrasound. Very reasonably priced for one on one training.Jake Schmutz

What is great about USI, is that no respectable employer will know this is literally one of the worst colleges in the United States. Therefore, even though a graduate, like me (class of 1999), learned nothing of value, employers will assume that USI is somehow connected to Indiana University. Now the positives. I actually made more money as a late night truck driver for the Evansville Courier, than my PHD professors made. I was told that these professors are paid hourly. In 1996, I made $12 an hour, some USI professors made less than $10 an hour. So, I always felt good these people were not the intelligentsia who can really pick winners & losers. Negatives, these teachers are very damaged people. When they discovered my mother was a PHD at UofL, I was put into a position of referral, then hammered on grades for not providing a referral. All-in-all, I was motivated to leave a review, because my bartender at Applebee's tonight said she had a bachelor's from USI. I, as well, have a bachelors. I lied, and somehow convinced my MBA college that USI was a part of IU. She just used her USI degree in Engineering to get a job, at Applebee's, as a bar tending engineer. I have two daughters that attend USI. I have been very impressed with the advisors, especially in the nursing department. They have worked with my daughter through some hard years, allowed her to continue to press forward until she accomplished what she needed to get into the nursing program. She is now thoroughly enjoying the experiences she is having in clinicals and classes. Another area I want to share is how the counseling department, dean of students office and public safety cared for one daughter during a time when she was threatened. They worked quickly to protect her, give her the resources she needed and affirm her value as a person through some tough days. Financially affordable, quality education, caring people. Civil Engineering undergraduate degree here is challenging and rewarding. They offer the same undergrad civil engineering and engineering mechanics courses available at larger universities at half the price. In addition, ALL of my engineering, math and physics classes and labs were taught by professors, not TA's. ALL engineering professors will go above and beyond to help you learn and achieve your goals! I would recommend this university to anyone who wants an undergraduate degree in civil engineering. Unfortunately the degree will not be engineering specific. It will read, "Bachelor of Science in Engineering", regardless of your engineering major. They are working on becoming degree specific. My class was the first class to go through hondros indianapolis campus , It wasn’t easy but becoming a NURSE is not a easy process and will NOT be handed to you. Hondros gives you the tools to be successful and pass your NCLEX ( state boards) on the first time. Our Dean & instructors made it to where we were comfortable and adjusted at times for us. Tutoring platform they provide really helps. No school is perfect but this LPN program was 100% better than my ADN program I was in at another local “school” across the street. I would give 5 stars, I love this campus. However, as a commuting campus there should be a number where I can get ahold of someone who is of the human flesh. I should not have to drive up to IUN at a reasonable hour like 3 or 4 PM to findout if the library is open or closed. This is a huge problem, it needs to be fixed immediately . Again, as a commuter campus this should be fixed. Some of my fellow students drive up to an hour to campus, luckily I only have to drive 15 minutes. Still, why should I have to drive at all just to findout that the library is closed. There have been times where on Christian holidays the library is closed, however on Muslim or Jewish holidays the library is open. There needs to be someone at the campus that can pick up a phone and let us know if it is open or not. I know students who only have internet connection through your campuses computers , so even though it is 2019 they cannot findout online. This needs to be fixed asap. This is an educational facility that teaches about Charles Darwinism, Maslow's hierarchy of needs, and business, yet refuses to evolve to its primary consumers needs as a commuter school. I have had the worst experience of my life dealing with this school. I started an IT program that included 4 certifications through a 3rd party learning center and they ended up canceling the program after my first year. I was approved for financial aid to cover the cost of this program and after it was canceled I was informed by NAU that this program was no longer covered by financial aid and they would need a lump sum payment for the year I had attended. I informed them that if I had the money to pay for it all at once then I wouldn't have applied for financial aid. They agreed to set up monthly payments for me to pay off the balance. I paid them religiously every month for almost 2 years and then I receive a letter from them saying my balance had been paid in full and any remaining balance was to be taken up with a new company. I called the company and it turns out is a very aggressive collections agency. After several phone calls with this new collections agency they could not tell me anything about the loan. I finally received a call from yet another collections agency saying they needed the remaining balance to be paid in full with 1 payment. They reported this to all credit agencies and stated that I was a high class delinquent account. Needless to say I don't know how I could have done anything different. I set up payments for a situation that wasn't my fault and am being harassed about it. I will never refer anyone this this "school" and do not wish anyone to have to deal with this group of people.Matthew Smith

I dont understand why they hold your financial aid for so long after classes start when that money is to be used for tuition, books and supplies. I should be able to get what I need at the beginning of the semester without having to shop at the overpriced bookstore. I could understand if it was just a few days to make sure you don't drop classes but they said it could be a month before the money is dispersed. 😞😞😞TONIA JUSTICE

I transferred schools, and Ivy Tech fraudulently reported that I was still attending so I didn't get my Pell Grant. I contacted them and they refused to log into the federal aid website and make the change. So now I'm stuck not attending school until the school year resets.M. “MdH” H.

Earned my Associates degree from Ivy Tech in 2020. They have a wide range of class choices that are all affordable. I enrolled in the Ivy Tech/IUPUI Passport Program to complete my Bachelors at IUPUI (just graduated with my BA a couple weeks ago!) and all my Ivy Tech credits transferred over without any problems. Leslie Busch was my advisor and she worked really hard to make sure every class I took would transfer successfully in the Passport program, and helped me to recover my GPA from a 0.24 (when I failed out years ago) to a 3.5 when I graduated with honors – to do this, she made sure I was retaking the exact classes I'd initially failed so that I could make up the credits. I met up with her once or twice a semester to make sure that I was on track for my goals, and she always had time to speak with me and answer every question I had. The professors are great; they're wise and very kind, and I was well-prepared for my transfer to IUPUI. Excellent education at a fraction of the cost, which was really nice since I had to pay out-of-pocket. I would not have been able to get a college degree were it not for Ivy Tech (and now I have 2), so I cannot recommend them enough. The professors, staff, and students are all wonderful, and I have many fond memories of my time here as a student.Evangelyn Richter

I attended this school for a certificate I was interested in but getting through the courses with some unprofessional instructor who never knew answers to your questions was a complete disappointment, frustrating and stressful school. This was the most unorganized college I’ve ever attended. No one is on the same page at this university. I received my undergrad and master degree from IUPUI and the professors and staff there was nothing like IVY Tech. IUPUI was structured and organized and they wanted their students to be successful in completing their program. I never attended a college that had no guidance for there students to ensure they are successful in their academic year. Everything just seem to be so unorganized and discombobulated at IVY Tech, I would not recommend this college to anyone. You get what you pay for, if you pay cheap tuition you will receive poor education, I see why this college has a low graduation rate. It’s not worth the headache.Marie B.

I have had several professors who had made an positive impact on my life. So far, every Psych professor and my communications professor were amazing. However, every class I have taken for English were TERRIBLE. One professor (Instructor Smith) will look for every reason possible to take from your grade. Another professor (Instructor King) does not communicate and I didn’t receive grades until the second to last week. I also have NO CLUE who my advisor is because nobody is returning my emails. The three stars are for the Psych department and my communications Instructor.Whitney Colwell
