To the alumni that posted comments relative to smoking and ABET accreditation, I would like to share the following in my role as SET Dean: 1. We have become an almost no-tobacco usage campus. The many cigarette butts around our buildings prompted me to become one of the principal architects of the policy that has been in place for over a year. As with major shifts, culture change does take a little time! Having said that, I do not recall anybody complaining about the cigarette butts. 2. The Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Engineering programs have been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET since 1983, 1986, and 2009 respectively. This information is publicly posted on our site and ABET's. Now that we have graduates from the Mechanical Engineering program, we will be submitting that for initial review in January 2018. I im currently enrolled in the Master of laws program in St. Marys Law School. I will rate one star because for me as an international student its a shame that i can not choose my own courses. They have to be approved by a guy named Robert Summers which his arbitriarism is out of the world. When i came to San Antonio looking to extend my knowledge in the american law i never imagine that i could not do so because i had to follow the preference of someone else. My goal was to specialice in Immigration which was not possible because this proffesor wanted me to take courses that i wouldn't like (TO FIT THE BAR EXAM EVEN IF YOU DONT WANT TO TAKE IT AT ALL) Im very dissapointed with St Mary's School of Law. I went to this school in 2007 for an Associate's of Applied Science in Business Office Administration. I completed the program and obtained my degree. Five years later I am still without a job that pertains to my degree. Any employer I go to does not even bother to ask about the degree or seem to care that I have one. It's like having two high school diplomas when you only needed one in the first place. I used Hallmark's career placement services twice and they stopped trying to help me within one month of attempting to utilize their services and were not successful in job placement, which is supposed to be their own job! I have been working customer service jobs with no opportunity for advancement that pay just above minimum wage ever since thanks to Hallmark. I have been using the Texas Workforce to find me the right job with the right pay and am currently receiving unemployment. I am also in the process of trying to get my student loans forgiven, as they have only put me in debt instead of led me down the path towards a happy career. Do not attend this school, it is like high school all over again! Go to one of the Alamo Colleges instead, your money is better invested there! If I would've known I was paying 18k for a useless piece of paper that got me nowhere, I would've told these scammers to shove it a long time ago! Seriously, Alamo Colleges is the way to go! As I continue gaining experience and qualifications throughout the years in my aviation career, I keep learning more and moving up the technician ladder. There is no limits in how much you can earn with an AAS in Aviation. I have worked overseas for the past 10 years making a comfortable living . I can pretty much select the company I want to work for or the Country that will be my next home. Seen my work success with just an Associate's degree I decided to finish my Bachelor's with Hallmark and I did! (06/15 ) I did not take any breaks after my graduation I just started my Masters with Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Hallmark helped me to reach my goals. Hallmark University College of Aeronautics is a great place to gain knowledge in becoming a Aviation Maintenance Technician. I am currently in my 2nd term here and I could not be more pleased with the professionalism of the university. All of the instructors are incredibly helpful and have years of experience in aviation. The overall curriculum is very fast paced in order for us to get our degree and A&P license quicker, so you must be very dedicated and focused on keeping up in class or you could be quickly left behind. The school has different companies in the aviation field come regularly to recruit students to come work for their company all over the country which gives us many great options once we graduate. Overall, I would recommend this school over any other to anyone who wants to build a career in Aviation Maintenance. I personally moved here to San Antonio from Salt Lake City, UT just to get my education at Hallmark because of the widely known prestige of the school. The next thing you know, I started school that night with the pharmacy program.My program director along with the program teachers were always willing to pass on their knowledge and help in any way. I've never had a more wonderful experience in a schooling system. The staff treat you like family and want you to succeed in every way possible. The hands on training was extremely informative, and when I had issues staff replied within 24 hours to help walk me through and/or fix whatever issue I was having. They also work with you to ensure you have options for employment, and before I knew it I was hired on before I was even finished with my MA externship. I had a great experience in this school. I started the journey without knowing what to do, and without expecting anything from me. This school made me fall in love with a career I never thought I would be in (Dental Assistant). Ms. Hicks made me feel welcomed since the first day, I got to her class, and had a great time. Dr. Cuellar and Ms. Leslie as well made enjoy going to school and wanting to learn everyday. They not only teach what you need to learn, but why you need to learn it too. Everything I saw in class, helped me be more prepared when I started externship, and it made it really easy. Wonderful staff that very caring and helpful to make sure you have what you need to learn. The programs all start at a basic level so it's easy to get back up to speed if you've been out of school for a long time and they are very helpful at ensuring you have a solid start to your chosen career. The pharmacy program was a delight and I've never been so excited to go to class, Mr D is a great teacher and is always available to assist if you're struggling. I learned a lot very quickly during my program and Mr D made the whole experience fun and enjoyable. The dental hygiene program here is absolutely wonderful. Our teachers and program director are amazing. But I am giving two stars because of the issues I’ve had with financial aid. It feels almost impossible to get an appointment with them and everything is so confusing. I understand everyone is short staffed but I have been trying to get ahold of my financial aid person for a month. Not only are they hard to get ahold of but they have said things such as “you need to get a job” if we ask to take a loan out for living expenses. Don’t they think we would get a job if we could? The program is full time there’s absolutely no time to get a job. I’m honestly just hurt that they treat us that way when we spend 73k on this program.Leah Broyles

I took a night class. The instructor always wanted to go home early. so instead of teaching us hands on, he just read over the instructions. When i and several others in my class took the tour, they said we would practice on dummys before we drew blood on each other. They lied. "The equipment doesnt work" is what we were always told. Towards the end of your last mod they crammed both badge tests and extern sites. We weren't notified if we got into our externs until the last day of class. Several days later my son (and 2 other people) witnessed one of the instructors hit another vehicle and just drive away. My son reported the incident to the school. Almost graduation time for him and now, because he reported this incident and he did complain that his current instructor gave assignments to do and then tested but they felt they were not being instructed. This institute does not have a Laboratory program. What you learn here doesn’t count as medical laboratory credits towards a lab tech degree. When I look up training programs for Medical lab unfortunately this pops up. I’ve already spoke to Admin there regarding what I was seeking. They informed me they were doing the same Medical Lab degree and that Lamson isn’t the program for that. For months Lamson has called me claiming to have a Lab program. The recruiters have no idea what curriculum Lamson has apparently, only that they need as many bodies as they can in a room. Instructors are top notch but the admin team is absolutely, depressingly, inadequate and disrespectful. Theres nothing like paying Lamson to come here and be treated like a child. Like an employee. Youre not listened too and youre made to do your teachers job and jumps through hoops to verify your attendance. Typically this is something that the instructor is responsible for but Lamson thinks that's too hard. So you, the student, the customer, are required to do their work for them and when you dont they seek to belittle and degrade you. The material is easy to understand, you do have to put the time in to study. Everything is online during the week and you go in on Saturdays for hands on clinicals! I enrolled in the Accelerated Phlebotomy course for a weekend session. My experience was excellent. It really was a refresher course for me since I was formally a phlebotomist 14 years ago. It saddens me to write this as I had VERY high hopes in WBU… I called the business office today and lets just say professionalism and the representation of WBU was NOT implemented (Ms. Takira). Literally two minutes ago I was told that I’d owe money to WBU due to one class taken however, as I kindly explained no advisor or anyone in the business office nor financial aide office contacted me to explain this otherwise I would have taken more than one class. This new information is disheartening and does not benefit the student. As a Baptists University no one should be left with such a burden, specifically a single mother who’s trying to better her education not incur avoidable debt while doing so. In my opinion, I was robbed of the option to take more than one class this semester and a hold placed every semester (no previous debt). In addition there is a hold on my account that prevents me from registering for any other classes, my advisor left without my knowledge and no one took the time to inform me of this either which would delay processes further. After getting out of the military and looking to expand my education, I encountered many choices until I found out about Wayland. I heard plenty of good reviews from my peers and luckily for me, I found out they were all true. From the beginning my advisor Mr Beard gave me outstanding help and guidance in what I needed to enroll for classes and how to use my military benefits. I started classes a week ago and same goes for my instructors, they have all been really helpful and I'm able to reach out to them if I have any questions. Came for a class at 8am. The doors were locked, called security per the sign on the door and security just said "someone should be there". Finally get in and a person at the door pulls out a paper and asks us to sign in. He is at the front desk, nothing to do with the class and tells me he can't understand my name. Never been told that before. Rewrite my name in all caps just to get in class and see that there are other people in the class that didn't have to sign in. Strange and unwelcoming. Definitely don’t recommend, after graduating June 26th 2022 is it now August 9th 2022 and I have yet to receive my certificate. I keep having to call multiple different people to check and see if it was even sent and all they keep doing is saying “can we confirm your address” it’s ridiculous you either sent it or you didn’t. They literally promise you help with job placement but go ghost after you graduate. I haven’t heard from career services Antonio Saenz in months. I haven’t heard from ANYONE in career services at all. To me they really see students as checks. They have “mentors” nag and bug you call you multiple times a day who barely know what they are doing themselves. Than the online instructors are not helpful at all they are really just giving you the answers or flat out won’t help at all and allow you to fail. This is really an unprofessional school no one should be waiting 4-6 weeks for their certificate. No one should graduate from a trade school and not even helped not once with job placement. First I want to say it's been overall a decent experience. One particular person I'd like to thank is Jasmine. I believe she is the Director of Education. She personally goes above and beyond to make sure students succeed. Myself included. One negative experience I've delt with was financial aid. The ladies who work in financial aid, are very knowledgeable, no doubt about it. They were good to answer questions. However when it came to talking with the head of financial aid. I found her to be personally, very condescending. The front staff (secretaries) are always hard work, I don't know there names but they are helpful when it comes to pointing you in the right direction. Compare prices. They say that they are doing "competitive pricing" but I'm not sure, because almost all of these trades/certificates and associates degrees can be completed at half the price they have listed. I think their prices are high simply because they are a "private" college.(Like most private universities do) Alamo colleges offers most of these and they are about 3-7,000 total for either a full two year degrees or even a year for tuition. Small school, but kept clean. Not a lot of students in a class, which is a good thing. Staff is very helpful and professional. Classes are challenging but many teachers are military with hands on experience in their field. All the teachers I've had had been pretty good. It's an accelerated school so you need to be on top of things. It can be difficult with how much work there is, but you do learn a lot. The school has five hour classrooms 4 days a week. Normally, I wouldn't consider that a good thing, but the school is very upfront about how fast the school is, and the pace allows you to get a Bachelor's degree in 2.5 years. I would recommend this school for anyone looking to get a degree relatively quickly. If you have a lot of time or don't want to get a degree quickly, or don't mind waiting a lot longer to get a degree, this school may not be for you. If I could give this school a -5 I would. I made the worst decision transferring to this school. To put it simply there is SO MUCH inconsistency and ignorance within the advising and financial aid departments. I had to go to the financial department so many times and no one could tell me what to fix exactly. In fact, they took copies of my federal documents and apparently lost them leaving me to resend these in email. Big problem, especially considering that’s my SS number on those documents. Finally I got in touch with Delia who also wasn’t very helpful but eventually we sorted everything out. My advisor Allison failed to give me all the needed information pushing my graduation back. On top of that advising was not aware of class changes in my major. Finally if you are a working student do not go here. Classes are very limited and not flexible. It was hard to find evening classes let alone online classes (COVID did help with that because now online classes are offered). I’ve also registered for classes and built my work schedule around those only for a Professor to decide not to meet. This school is unorganized and does not care about their students. I tried reaching multiple deans and did not get ahold of anyone. I am so pleased that I’m finally graduating from this terrible school. If you’re on the fence between this campus and another CHOOSE THE OTHER. I’ve met a few great people but most of the staff are rude, the parking expenses are outrageous considering the distance you still have to walk without a shuttle provided. There’s hardly a cafe and the prices are RIDICULOUS. The admissions, financial aid, welcome center and advising center are NEVER opened when they say they will be and when you leave voicemails they never leave call back. It’s my senior year and I can’t register for the spring semester due to a “6 drops remaining hold” … definitely something they need to take care of from their end but I’m a sitting duck and risking losing my desired schedule due to their unprofessionalism.. I have been at this University for 2 semesters and I have had a great experience thus far. Every Professor I have had had been very attentive to any question or concern I have had that particular course. Some of the artwork that can be found throughout the University is outstanding. From oil on canvas, embroidery work, and statues are first class. If you happen to visit the campus, do yourself a favor and visit every building just to get a glance at the artwork. The campus continues to grow at a rapid rate but they have been able to manage their growth very well. I was charged out-of-district tuition even though I live 4 minutes from campus. I called the Business Office 2-4 times and was placed on 8+ minute holds and no one ever picked up. I began attending OLLU when I was still active duty in the Navy. I became interested in this school because I was looking for a Psychology program that had a basis in Social Work. What sold me on the choice was the class size. See before I joined the Navy and really my reason for doing so was because I didn't think that I nor my parents could afford to send me to college after high school. So without having the college experience, even at the community college level, I wanted a smaller and more focused approach at a school that had a great reputation and track record. Once enrolled I loved the quiet on campus environment and the facilities were modern enough for the resources provided. I truly enjoyed the gym. Because of the small campus and student body the gym was never crowded but had all the latest equipment so working out there was a dream. My professors were very understanding and provided options if at any time my schedule became a little complicated. I just finished my first semester at OLLU. The campus is amazing! The classes are small enough to where the professor can get to know each individual student and not see them as a number or paycheck. You always see the same people, so it isn't like meeting someone new everyday. By the end of one week, you remember people's faces even if you don't become friends or acquaintances. The professors I've had so far were awesome! The Survey for Mexican-American Literature, was my favorite professor. She is very passionate about culture and her job. The only dislike I would have about the school is the tuition, but then again most of the professors all care about the quality of education each student receives. There is also a higher chance at making new friends because of the small student population. Study groups aren't as awkward. Other than tuition, I don't have any problems with the school. Won't allow fans to attend the Baseball games (which draw literally 10s of people) in the open air because "safety is our main concern" according to the spokesperson I spoke with.. I'm not sure what's going on with ophthalmology department. I went for my eye exam, paid my co pay. Got exam for glasses and contacts. About a week later received a bill for $75 for contact fittings. I had a follow up visit, which I should not been charged a co pay but I had to pay $35 for follow up. I tried to dispute it and I kept being told the insurance had changed. Even the Doctor agreed with me that i should have not been charged for either, it was covered by SuperiorVision. Verified with insurance and it had not changed. They finally admitted that I should have not paid for follow up. Requested that my $35 be refunded to directly. According to them they could not refund because I had a $75 balance. I made a claim with the insurance and received the money back. In the notes for the check it read: (PR-45) & (Co-45)"Charge exceeds fee schedule/maximum allowable or contracted/legislated fee arrangement". UT Health ophthalmology is over charging patient, many of whom are elderly. Taking advantage of people. They need to retrain or train correctly the person's working the in their department. They are overcharging , regardless what the insurance companies rules are. I do not recommend department to anyone or give this department any stars, I had to enter at least one star because it didn't let me post without. Very disappointing experience with the UT Health Cardiology Department. Dr. Traktenbroit suggested I have a cardiology stress test and an at home ECG test, called a ZIO test. I spoke with at least six different departments within UT Health & University Health And was unable to get test codes So I could get a cost estimate for the tests through my insurance company, prior to actually having the test performed. I called my insurance company and asked if they could contact the physician and different testing departments. They were also unable to get any type of cost estimate. With anything else in life you know what the cost will be before you pay for it, but in the medical profession you’re supposed to trust them and not know how much your out of pocket cost is going to be until you get a bill in the mail. Ludicrous! Also, there are 3 different types of stress tests. The most expensive one being the one that includes injecting nuclear medicine through an IV. Oh course, this is the test the Dr. ordered. Chest pains or shortness of breath are usually the reason for a stress test. I did not report having either. From what I’ve researched a CT scan of your heart is better at finding blockages than a stress test. I had one performed a few years ago and the cost was much less than having a nuclear stress test done.C W

This review is for the billing department. I do my best to pay my bills in full and when I can’t, I call to make payment arrangements. I don’t know about everyone else, but I have insurance with a high deductible and out of pocket maximum. This billing department boggles the mind. I received a letter from a collections office that I had a bill that I had not made a payment for. The service was in February of this year for a total amount $600. I keep all correspondence from bills that I paid or am paying and not once did I receive a letter stating that I owed this amount. What kind of billing department doesn’t send out bills? This is not the first time they have pulled this shenanigan. I got them to admit in the previous billing conflict that they hadn’t sent out a bill. This is a shady practice of not sending a bill but sending my or our information to a collections agency. I take my credit score very seriously. I don’t want it tainted because of a neglectful department/employee. This department needs a quality audit. I am sure they would find many issues that need to be addressed but haven’t been.Rachele Cuellar
