I actually attend the other campus, but have had to stop by here for books or to see the proff. So far it seems like a very organized campus. I've come at different times of the day and there's always parking (sometimes further away, but I carry an umbrella for the sun) Once there were mariachi playing outside. The employees are always very helpful & professional and most of the students appear to be engaged in their environment. The bathrooms have always been clean when I've gone. I've taken 3 courses so far and the classes have been very engaging. This is a career change for me so I'm older, but I don't feel out of place.Gracie G

I would not recommend this university to any of my friends or family, if zero stars were an option this is what they would receive, yes they did expand the university but made things worse. Graduation ceremonies are held opposite of their campus area, for instance if you are attending the Brownsville campus, your graduation ceremony will be held in Edinburg and vice versa. The cost of attending has sky rocketed. A couple of my friends who earned a double major had to fight tooth and nail for their respective degree majors'. To make things worse their parking is atrocious, even to get a visitor pass, you must pay!? What. The. Hell. Man! Lastly, they care nothing for their veterans – this university only works if you either know or are related to the person who is offering the job, if I'm being honest, our military veterans sacrificed more than any regular civilian ever would and therefore should be consider first and foremost amongst people who are not veterans. Very little effort put in by the staff to do anything more than waste their students' time and money. Impossible to get hold of any of the advisory staff when it comes to things like tuition, curriculum, or international student programs. My SO has been going to this college on an education visa for years (more than she should have needed to to begin with) and sank a lot of money into getting a proper education, and the lack of effort to facilitate this for both her and other students- domestic or foreign- deeply disturbs me. It's been nothing but a constant source of stress and a constant hemorrhage in her wallet. Apparently this school is on probation for their overt lack of quality/effort but because members of the school body have good connections it's been kept open. You get what you pay for. They offer some of the lowest tuition rates in the state, but that's the only upside. Facilities are poor, parking is rarely available, and there is a severe lack of course availability. Communication has been very poor, and we've struggled to get information from the college nor any assistance with enrollment. I had to make a complaint with the President's office just to get the help I needed. Plus, their employees are rather nasty and sociopathic. They have little-to-no concern for their students, and they're not afraid to show it. There is a lot of room for improvement here. Plus, I don't like how they are using student tuition money to recruit new students from Mexico, as well as undocumented aliens. Worry about your own students first.G68

The moment I was not able to make a payment I was told I couldn’t continue. Not once did they call me to ask if I would be coming back or if I had a way to continue to pay. Yes it is affordable BUT you’re literally getting what you pay for. I had an Instructor by the Named Martinez. She was very rude and didn’t understand where students were coming from. I have a daughter who has pulmonary hyperplasia due to a CDH she had and was taken care in Houston Tx Childrens NICU for a whole month due to severity of it and since birth. It was unprofessional coming from a medical healthcare worker to be harsh towards the situation given the fact I needed to make trips and miss class to take my daughter to her appointments. Needless to say we got into it in front of the whole Class because I took it upon Mrs. Head of the education to fix things. They will have you do all the courses before even telling you something is wrong with payment and drop you from courses at the last minute because on THEIR END they don’t send invoices to the VA like they're supposed to. I'm sorry but in my experience, it's impossible to get through when calling. I'll legit call almost all day and I can't get anyone to answer. A few classes I've had, the equipment wasn't available or damn near destroyed. A lot of the staff is friendly but there are some very rude employees that I've dealt with, even on the first day. I couldn't even pay to borrow a laptop cause the lady kept telling me to just buy one. This is just my personal experience. All the teachers I've had, have been great though. 11. South Texas College Pecan Plaza

I currently have a parking permit for a motorcycle. There have been occasions that I take a car due to bad weather or a truck when I'm transporting equipment that can't be carried on a motorcycle. I did not take the weather into account at the time I obtained the permit. The campus security has zero discretion to make a decision on his own. The security understands the risk of riding a motorcycle while its raining but refers me to the Pecan Plaza to have the issue addressed there. Lately, I'm being advised that I will have to pay for another permit if I continue to take a car. This parking is becoming an issue. Although I can pay for another permit, there other unforseen factors we can't address until it happens such as running out of gas, a flat tire, engine failure, dead battery, accident. I am not satisfied how this is handled by the campus security and the Pecan Plaza PD. I will reconsider attending next semester at this campus. I have a love one there and it’s not great but he’s got no other choice. There’s one or two good nurses & the rest I think are lazy and rude. Oh , yes very very short staffed. When he pressed on the call button it takes them an hour to respond. When the state is there, they are running around with there head cut off. My issue now is I’ve brought so much clothes for him and it’s all missing he’s got clothes that are even his. I’m so upset don’t know what to do. I don’t know if they misplaced it or if there own workers stole it. I will be calling them, they better replace everything. I’ll be reporting this to the state if nothing is done to resolve this issue. The only good thing I can say is that it doesn’t smell like most nursing home. I’ll keep you posted.Sylvia Gonzales

I had my mother there for 3 yrs and the staff was excellent. They took real good care of her she loved it there. She says if she ever gets sick she wants to go back to MNC with great staff from nursing to dietary with great food amd housekeeping with great cleaniness. This is an older facility in decent condition. Could use remodeling, but it's not disgusting. I've seen much worse nursing homes. They have 3 LVNs working the late night shift along with 3 or 4 CNAs so it seems to be staffed fine for the size of the facility. It has been pretty quiet there at night when I've been there.
