20 Best Rn Programs In Indianapolis, IN (2022 Updated)

Please do not attend this school for it's transition to teaching graduate program. The professors did not prepare for their classes and provided low quality education to the point that I could not justify continuing with this program after paying in over $4,000. When attempting to get them to appeal the final $800 for the semester I left the program they simply refused to give any leeway or acknowledge and error on their part and sent me collections with an additional $350 fee. With no recourse beyond their own appeals process that unsurprisingly found no problem on their end, all I can do is complain on their review boards. On the plus side, the do have a beautiful campus and I can not in anyway speak to the quality of their undergraduate program.Daniel Gore

While well established as a great Franciscan university, Marian remains up-and-coming in terms of their MAT program for teachers. I had a wonderful experience in terms of the contacts made and networks formed while attending. However, much remains to be done to increase the rigor and requirements for that particular degree. Still, Marian University will soon open the second medical school in the State of Indiana. They are also adding a seemingly much finer tuned doctoral education leadership program.Tim Lankford

Here visiting for a campus tour with my daughter. So far what we have seen is amazing. Marian University is a great place. The buildings are contemporary except for a few historical sites that were preserved. Other than that, it appears to be a great place. The people were friendly as we visited as well. Definitely live on campus if you are looking for the full college experience. I've lived here for 3 years as an undergraduate and the facilities are very nice and the people very helpful. It's easy to find a job through the university and the research opportunities in science blow many other universities out of the water. Scholarships are also abundant if you know where to look and ask around. Professors range from fantastic to poor like at any university. I believe there are over 300 organizations and clubs to get involved in and always neat things like movies playing, dances, carnivals, etc, you just have to know to look for them. The campus is beautiful, especially in the spring and summer when the fountain is going and everyone is lounging outside. IUPUI is what you make of it, and getting involved is the best way to experience it.Amber Goad

I've had a couple of lousy instructors, but for the most part I really enjoy the instructors I've had. I'm learning a lot of important information that will help me as an employee. There is always an event happening somewhere on campus, so you are always having the college experience. I love IUPUI and I think that it is the best university ever!Payton

I was always anti-online course for my college, but after trying to complete my degree in a traditional setting while juggling my teaching and family responsibilities, I gave ACE a chance. I was the most amazing experience. First, I could afford this program! They were very upfront about the cost (no hidden fees). While there is no financial aid, you can’t beat the price!! Customer service was always easy— much more than the three other universities I attended. If I ever had a question or issue, they were back with an answer within hours. More, I really learned a lot. The professors provided real-life experience and feedback. The workload is manageable one course at a time, but I was meeting a deadline and was able to finish in 8 months! It was intense, but my new promotion and salary will almost pay for the degree in a year! Well worth it!!! I’d love to work for ACE one day to help enhance their program! It was great but it is clear they’re always evolving and improving.J T

I am over halfway through the Ed Leadership Masters program, and I love it. My favorite part is the class length. You take one class at a time, and it is five weeks long. After the first course, you really do acclimate to the schedule. I am able to focus intensely on one subject at a time. Another thing I love about ACE is the quality of the assignments. I feel prepared to complete them, and I believe they are applicable to my current position as a teacher, and my future in administration. Finally, the professors are wonderful. They are knowledgable and helpful, and most of them give detailed, specific feedback on assignments. I wholeheartedly recommend ACE for your further education.Tara Lensink

For almost 8 years I have had the pleasure of working for ACE, but in 2017 I made the leap to become a student as well. Often, as an employee, we see only part of the student experience. While I feel the culture of ACE as an employee, it was as a student that I truly understood the work ACE puts in to creating a supportive, positive, and intellectual experience for its students. I finished each course with practical skills that immediately translated to my role within the college. I have been to the bookstore in downtown Indy once and I prefer to place my online order for books at this campus 100%. I live in Noblesville..So it is much more convenient and I recommend ordering online.Of course If you know your course number for each class you will need a book for or in my case I send the teacher a quick email prior to placing my order to male sure i have the right book. Staff is friendly somewhat…and tries to be helpful. It gets busy with the nursing students picking up scrubs and other medical supplies.The manager was not very nice to them. I have yet had problem with any of my orders (4 to be exact) since my 2 semesters at ivy tech. I also returned a book I no longer needed for one of classes and they helped me In less than 5 minutes. Just make sure you have your student id# (C***) along with your ID to pick up orders or return. Hope this helps!Jennifer Mejia

I graduate in May and will transfer to a university. Ivy Tech has been the best thing that has ever happened to my education. As long as you are smart enough to review teachers before signing up for classes, you will do great. If you have a problem, go to campus, and they will take care of you. This program is beyond amazing from beginning to end. I was a little nervous being back in a class setting and dealing with “Ratchet” ppl but it was the complete opposite. Shawnelle has her classes small for a reason, you can really understand, pay attention and ask any questions (even the ones that sound dumb). She is a Very very understanding instructor and she will work with you to get this class completed but only if you actually want this. she will laugh and joke with you all day if you want but she will get business done and tell you what it is. Completing this class has given me the motivation to do more than just stopping at a CNA and Going to class I was able to obtain a better job from her recommendations on her bulletin board and now that I’m certified I’m moving up and all I can say is thank you because she helped push me to my goal . I was extremely nervous to enter into a CNA program. I had looked at trying to go to the one at IVY TECH but decided I didn’t want to go that route. Then I saw the flyer for Star Training. I made a comment about and boom information was there in my inbox. Still nervous I signed up got in… Very first day I was I made to feel like part of a family. Shawnelle went into detail about how things worked. Sade taught us how to make it all make sense. Both of them are so inspirational. They speak life into all of their Star Students. Going to Star Training to become a CNA was the best decision I made. The learning environment was great and the instructor really cares about all of her students individually. My class was the first class to go through hondros indianapolis campus , It wasn’t easy but becoming a NURSE is not a easy process and will NOT be handed to you. Hondros gives you the tools to be successful and pass your NCLEX ( state boards) on the first time. Our Dean & instructors made it to where we were comfortable and adjusted at times for us. Tutoring platform they provide really helps. No school is perfect but this LPN program was 100% better than my ADN program I was in at another local “school” across the street. As an employee of this site for two years who interacts daily with our students, I love coming to work here every day. It’s separate from Marian University’s main campus and is in a building right by the Pyramids. Last year, we moved up a floor to the fourth floor into a freshly renovated space and it has been great to see our students learn here. It has two classrooms, two simulation labs, enhanced debriefing rooms, two exam rooms, a dedicated student break room, and a locker area. The new labs have state-of-the-art clinical equipment, hospital beds, and medical manikins — a great, safe, and realistic environment for students to practice interacting with live patients in the real world and gain confidence heading into clinicals. Overall, we couldn’t ask for a better place for our students to come for labs, take exams, and connect with their fellow nursing students and instructors.Trinity Firth

I got accepted to UINDY after careful consideration about the program I wanted to attend. I chose UIndy over 3 other schools I was accepted to. They were not helpful at all after admission about what I needed to do next. The orientation was a joke and not helpful, they basically only addressed the students that would be receiving parental help with the finances and didn't answer any questions about the students like myself who would be doing it on their own, since my parents basically paid for my first degree. I also am supposed to receive half off my tuition due to my father being a disabled veteran. The Advisor I spoke with denied that despite the paperwork I sent her. A few weeks later I received my bill. They want 12k in a MONTH or else I would be dropped from classes. I reached out for more financial aid help and never got any response. Calls were not returned and emails were left ignored. This school was supposed to help me follow my dreams, and instead they crushed them. They killed all aspiration I had to further my education. It is now too late for me to attend any other college this fall and I must wait until next fall now, assuming I will even gain the perseverance back. If you are looking for a good college, I would stray from UIndy. I was left alone in the dark and put behind all the students who's mommy and daddy's will be paying the cost. I will set out to find a college with kind staff, good communication skills and one that will accept my fathers benefits. Do yourselves a favor and do the same.Elizabeth Galante

I have enjoyed my 2 years here and now i am plaining to move to CA. Professors always say that we are willing to help you if you come to our offices, but when I go to them they do not answer my question from the different aspects. If you do not ask multiple questions, they will not explain everything. Even in class, they try to hide some information from you so that you have to read the whole book to not miss any point. NOT ONE OR TWO PROFESSORS HAVE DONE THAT ( ESPECIALLY CHEMISTRY MAJOR). My advice, be away of this. There are a lot of activities that you can meet different people and learn more about different cultures. Plus, alcohol is prohibited in campus. ** I do not drink at all** Good LuckLolo Lole

I transferred here after attending Indiana University my first year of college. I felt the college is a great option for students who want more attention and a smaller class size. I always really enjoyed my time at UIndy because of their great and supportive athletic department. The school being smaller gave me more opportunities to fulfill my dreams and do what I wanted to do in college. Like everything, it is not for everyone. I believe it is a great school though and should be considered by all. It ended up being a perfect fit for me.The Landys

I have had the worst experience of my life dealing with this school. I started an IT program that included 4 certifications through a 3rd party learning center and they ended up canceling the program after my first year. I was approved for financial aid to cover the cost of this program and after it was canceled I was informed by NAU that this program was no longer covered by financial aid and they would need a lump sum payment for the year I had attended. I informed them that if I had the money to pay for it all at once then I wouldn't have applied for financial aid. They agreed to set up monthly payments for me to pay off the balance. I paid them religiously every month for almost 2 years and then I receive a letter from them saying my balance had been paid in full and any remaining balance was to be taken up with a new company. I called the company and it turns out is a very aggressive collections agency. After several phone calls with this new collections agency they could not tell me anything about the loan. I finally received a call from yet another collections agency saying they needed the remaining balance to be paid in full with 1 payment. They reported this to all credit agencies and stated that I was a high class delinquent account. Needless to say I don't know how I could have done anything different. I set up payments for a situation that wasn't my fault and am being harassed about it. I will never refer anyone this this "school" and do not wish anyone to have to deal with this group of people.Matthew Smith

Earned my Associates degree from Ivy Tech in 2020. They have a wide range of class choices that are all affordable. I enrolled in the Ivy Tech/IUPUI Passport Program to complete my Bachelors at IUPUI (just graduated with my BA a couple weeks ago!) and all my Ivy Tech credits transferred over without any problems. Leslie Busch was my advisor and she worked really hard to make sure every class I took would transfer successfully in the Passport program, and helped me to recover my GPA from a 0.24 (when I failed out years ago) to a 3.5 when I graduated with honors – to do this, she made sure I was retaking the exact classes I'd initially failed so that I could make up the credits. I met up with her once or twice a semester to make sure that I was on track for my goals, and she always had time to speak with me and answer every question I had. The professors are great; they're wise and very kind, and I was well-prepared for my transfer to IUPUI. Excellent education at a fraction of the cost, which was really nice since I had to pay out-of-pocket. I would not have been able to get a college degree were it not for Ivy Tech (and now I have 2), so I cannot recommend them enough. The professors, staff, and students are all wonderful, and I have many fond memories of my time here as a student.Evangelyn Richter

I attended this school for a certificate I was interested in but getting through the courses with some unprofessional instructor who never knew answers to your questions was a complete disappointment, frustrating and stressful school. This was the most unorganized college I’ve ever attended. No one is on the same page at this university. I received my undergrad and master degree from IUPUI and the professors and staff there was nothing like IVY Tech. IUPUI was structured and organized and they wanted their students to be successful in completing their program. I never attended a college that had no guidance for there students to ensure they are successful in their academic year. Everything just seem to be so unorganized and discombobulated at IVY Tech, I would not recommend this college to anyone. You get what you pay for, if you pay cheap tuition you will receive poor education, I see why this college has a low graduation rate. It’s not worth the headache.Marie B.

I have had several professors who had made an positive impact on my life. So far, every Psych professor and my communications professor were amazing. However, every class I have taken for English were TERRIBLE. One professor (Instructor Smith) will look for every reason possible to take from your grade. Another professor (Instructor King) does not communicate and I didn’t receive grades until the second to last week. I also have NO CLUE who my advisor is because nobody is returning my emails. In 1978 my Mother was transported to IU med from Kokamo . She was in a coma for 3 or 4 months. I recieved a call from Moms Doctor he wanted to do surgery on Mom. She had 3 aneurysms putting pressure on brain. They did surgery my Mom was 51. She lived to 72. Thank u allVicki Satterfield

This is an amazing, hidden gem. The students and staff work extremely hard and are so sweet and polite. Sandwich breads are homemade, food is all from scratch, just so good all around. The fruit cup is huge and has the best fresh fruit, not just melon like other places. Prices are very reasonable. If you are out this way stop in for lunch or make plans to stop by and support these hard working kids/staff and enjoy some delicious food! Staff always seems lazy, they either look like they don’t want to be there and if they do help they’re not nice or kind about it. Not really good service wise, wish they were more helpful and friendly. They also once told me I needed to fix something for FAFSA but that wasn’t the problem, so some of them don’t know what they’re doing.
