Like most this place has it's pros and it's cons. The best thing about going to SWAU is the people. The second family you gain. You make some good friends for life and while I can't say the same for all the administration, a lot of the Professors here seem to really care about your success After college. The folks in the financial department really look out for you the best they can. They have some pretty good programs where you receive more attention from teachers than you would a public school. You will have opportunity for spiritual development. Honest comments on the biggest cons are the way you're treated as a student once administration has your money and special guest or other visitors show up. All the sudden paying students are locked out of the cafe (some are made to pay for ) and herded in and out with a sack lunch. Not to mention the fines that get charged to your account as a freshman for various reasons (ask anyone here). In conclusion… You will find what you come here looking for at the end of the day if you simply look in the right places.Gavin Neal

Spent several years living nearby and two years attending the school. Over all I enjoyed the experience. Some of the professors are real gems. Best of all is the school atmosphere and community. The school is quite small so it is pretty easy to get to know most of the student body and feel like you belong. I attended a larger university after this, and though the academics were a bit more vigorous (might also have been that it was for upper division courses and thus more challenging) the community at SWAU was superior.Rose Weeks

Now let me mention this in clear honesty. This university is what you make of it plain and simple. What you want to experience will happen. So if you are looking for a Christian environment well here you go this is it. The university as a whole is a bit on the older side so yes it look a bit crusty. There are in process of revaping it. The housing staff is horrible, they have put 2 charges on my account and they admitted to not knowing how they got my name however they refused to take it off even when the camera showed I never stayed, 3 weeks later I spoke to Hr for them to remove it and they did it the same day. The other one was removed 2 weeks later after the payment date. I would also recommend you bring in your own food or check it before leaving the dinning hall. I found so much mold and was served under cooked to many times. The drinks apply as well check the ice whole before u get if there is black stuff around it use the other machines.(not sure if they are gonna clean up before the fall but there is also mold in between the soda machines) Not only the dinning side but be careful with the soda/juice in the deli side the they both are spoiled. And check the expiration date of each snack you do choose to take I had 3 month old jello and I still can’t get that’s fussy taste out my mouth. Either side will not hesitate to sell old milk or old food and bunch it all up to be given out on the weekends. There is a wëëd problem at this school as well so be careful because if anyone in your dorm doesn’t it you maybe be accused of doing it as well by the campus police. Not on to the professors, you need to hold some of their hand and walk them three days the grading process. I had 3 professors(1 was in person and the other 2 was online) last semester wait til the end of the semester to grade everyone from my midterms to out introductions at the beginning. For online teachers make sure you double check their comments after they grade and read up on stuff ahead of time so u can message them early because they don’t respond to message in a timely manner. Navarro College was STELLAR! As a former Bulldog, I'm proud to have called this school my home. Professors are knowledgeable and interesting individuals, the staff are all charming and helpful, and the atmosphere of the entire facility is one of safety and growth. Plus, Dr. Fagan (the man in charge of it all) is incredibly personable and makes a point of greeting and interacting with students every chance he gets! The staff at the Corsicana campus are very rude. Upon inquiring about something the registrar didn’t know about; she went on to yell at me over the counter while the lobby was full of other students. There are only a handful of instructors that are dedicated and willing to see their students succeed. After all we pay to go there and I believe that the students need to treated with a bit of respect. The Cashiers are generally nice and will help you out.Nethmal Perera

Annoying town to live in. Southern hospitality doesnt exist in Boone. Its full of stuck up hippies. Counting down the days till I transfer to Colorado. If you're transferring here, good luck. My girlfriend has been petitioning classes that they haven't counted since she first got here. They're screwing her out of 27 credit hours that she finished at her old school. Math department is atrocious. I'm in college algebra now and the teacher lost my first test because she took priority in grading a 2 page paper on success before she graded the test. Also, if you're coming here to watch football, the atmosphere sucks. More than half of the crowd is out of the stadium before halftime. Hardly anyone actually cares about the team, they just use it as an excuse to tailgate and get trashed in a public parking lot.Chris King

Was a very good experience. Best was the faculty, who are from all over the country and internationally as well. I attended another college for a second degree after ASU and had a bad experience which really highlighted how superior ASU's instruction and advice really was. They do not waste your time. If there was a downside, it was probably the fact that many of the students are from western North Carolina, so some of the perspectives were a bit of a culture shock for me. They have several excellent programs, particularly business, music, education, art, as well as some unusual programs like communications disorders.JW41926

Attending this school has been the worst experience that I have EVER had! From advisor who do not know what they are doing to transcript office personal that have very bad attitudes and are extremely rude. They also "conveniently" forget to post important dates that student need to know. After finally graduating from this school a year late, I will NEVER encourage anyone to attend this school. But, I would encourage everyone who currently attends this school to get out while they are ahead! The medical[EMS] wing here allows injured students whom are not compatible with the requirements or functionality of the physical job requirements for that particular field. Although the Stewart's are head representatives of this college[President] as a married couple, they suppress the indigent students by not providing a job placement in the medical dictation fields after passing medical terminology and Anatomy & Physiology courses as possible candidates in the local hospitals as medical scribes. It is vital that NETCC(a tax payer college) model the First Amendment values they are supposed to be teaching to students, Today's NETCC students will be tomorrow's legislators, judges, university presidents, police, EMS, nurses, and voters, but instead they are sending the wrong message: that government can dictate that sharing the ten commandments and that Jesus died for them to be saved from the wrath of God deserves expulsion on the grounds that it hurts other student's feelings and that safe spaces are needed to also protect other students from freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of expression. Despite claiming inclusiveness and diversity as its core values, NETCC is failing to foster real diversity of thought and is, instead discriminating against Christian groups based on it's beliefs. A lawsuit needs to be filed challenging the school's assumption that it can expel student groups based on the belief that Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven. It is a contradiction to NETCC policy for a teacher to discriminate based on religion. I personally was pulled aside by their medical director of the EMS program and told I was being expelled for hurting a student's feelings by sharing my world view, and then told by the teacher that, "Jesus Christ is not the only way to Heaven". It would be absurd for NETCC to require the vegan student group to appoint a meat-lover as its president. Lastly a good teacher that teaches EMS doesn't disrespect the appointment of men and woman who gave their lives as firefighters. The First Amendment dictates that the ‘marketplace of ideas’ on a public tax payer campus cannot prefer some viewpoints and cannot exile or denigrate others.Nor can the government force citizens to choose between exercising their constitutional rights on the one hand and participating in government-run programs on the other.” That discriminatory practice, however, became evident when school officials refused to discipline the Medical Director of EMS after an internal investigation and to expelled me. In this case charges need to be issued against NETCC and the staff. The school is favoring anti-Christian groups over Christian groups. My fundamental and clearly established rights under the First Amendment were violated by the staff and medical director of EMS at NETCC.Daniel Hamilton

The Director of the school's police Academy is a childish, unprofessional, prick!!! He soiled my name with at least 3 police departments because he didn't like me. He claimed I had a problem with my anger. His name was Richard Jones. Let me explain something about the Richard Jones situation to anyone that might read this review. Unlike many of the unsecured dudes that get into security seeking authority, badges, and a vehicle to drive their deep rooted insecurity I had always wanted to be a police officer. I grew up in the Stevens Courts projects in Texarkana, Texas and I will tell you right now that it is a misconception about the black community's view of the police. My community deeply admired the police. One of my mentors Texarkana, Texas police officer Presley as I remember would come to the projects, play football and order pizza with the young people. This forever changed my view of the police and from there I always wanted to become one. Furthermore my record has never shown any signs of me being an unstable person. I am a black man free of criminal charges and a criminal record. He decided to destroy my chances of a good paying job for my family and I because he didn't like me. Trying to get this story out there is long over due but oh yes I haven't forgot. I am currently working in the Private Security Industry but nearly finish with my Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice- I also a have a diploma completion in investigating crime scenes. Richard Jones and his academy is a non-factor in my life at this point but the fact that this was did to me has affected my career. BTW. I AM ONLY CLICKING THAT STAR TO GET TO THE PUBLISH SCREEN. This community college is not the best. There are some ups and downs. The professors barely help when asked, the administration kinda screws you over and somehow makes it your fault. Some of the online work is not the same as learned in class. When you write essays you have to use the sources from the online library the college provides and you're not allowed to use any other sources. Although if you do, you will fail. Their system is completely messed up and had someone else's credits show up as mine. I have taken several extra classes because I was told I needed them when I actually didn't. I have wasted my time and money. On the bright side there are some good professors who care and will help if asked but it seems to me that every time there is a good professor they move to other colleges.Cara Thompson

Great school for engineering and decent for nursing. Business school will depend on your work and the professors you choose(from 1-4 ⭐️). The support sucks. Try calling financial aid or student accounts and you know how living in purgatory feels like. One hour of waiting on the line is typical and if you wanna use the outdated mymav website to get help without calling them, good luck 😉 The number in the picture below belongs to student accounts department who will drop you from all your classes when u owe money so you need speed dealing with them. I suggest you’ll go there physically even if you’re infected with Covid19 as you have a better chance of reaching them in person. If I could give this university a zero star, I would do it. As an international student, I have millions of terrible experiences with this university. The graduate school and the international students office have been really really rude. They will try to frustrate you using any way they could. Also, the insurance requirement for international students have been so unfair. They will charge you lots lots of money for the insurance for the summer time even though you are not enrolled in any classes during the summer. Also, the staff working in the graduate school have been so rude and know very little. Some of the graduate and undergraduate classes have been so meaningless and do not worth the money.yaqing cao

Atm a lot of construction is going around the university. Either adding new school building, dinning areas, or apartments around the school. The gym is great, great gym equipment, indoor track, and classes that you can sign up for if you do not like working out alone. Building are easy to locate but if you have trouble finding them people will be nice to direct to the correct locations. There is literally not one part of this school that isn't actively trying to make everything horrible. They know they can't possibly be held responsible, so they don't care. Dealing with housing is like jumping through 100 hoops that are invisible and on fire. They don't tell you anything until the very last moment when it's too late. Registering for classes is just as hard. I was on track to graduate early and then they change the requirements which made multiple classes not count towards my degree and added new ones that aren't even available. The security is non-existent. The school is entirely aware of the dozens of bikes being stolen over the course of the past year. Still not a single camera watching any of the bike racks and they will fine you if you keep your bike inside. People try to open your door at any time. Whether it be 3am or 3pm. The dining hall is closed for every single break with no other options or awful ones. People live here, a lot without personal transportation. That's why the dining hall exists. They find every way imaginable to make more money off of their students. They will give you 3 parking tickets within 4 hours even with a parking pass, but they be soooo gracious enough to lower the fines after 3 weeks of pending the appeal. I've heard professors talking about how "stubborn" another professor is and how "they will use a textbook and curriculum until it's completely obsolete". They will give you 12 hours notice before you move dorms after telling you it'd be a month. They have partnerships with McGrawHill and probably every other online workbook which means students are forced to pay almost $200 for each class for a membership that teaches students absolutely nothing.Hayden Watts

Baylor is an amazing school. For a few reviews before me we are not all "rich kids wanting to blow daddy's money" or "rude". I personally have a bad background that would not match the first statement. I am not rich. I am blessed to be in this university thanks to scholarships and my hard working mother. Baylor itself is a blessing. Its a rigorous school BUT very well worth it. I love being part of the Baylor community. Its a beautiful campus filled with loving people. Its not "perfect" because nothing is. There will be a few issues like yes there are some kids who don't care and my be rude or blow things off but really if you are a part of it you will see the majority of the campus and the people here are more than amazing and loving. This is a fantastic university for the liberal arts. I have talked to people from other universities and to those that have come to visit me at college, and all of them see a difference in the student body. There is just a different atmosphere. All the people are kind and welcoming and always willing to help in times of need. The professors are nationally ranked and are not only outstanding in their fields of study, but wonderful people as well. Even if you're not looking to go to college, its a beautiful campus to just walk around in. It's almost like a park in some ways. Just give it a visit and I promise you'll be hooked! I loved my time as I attended Baylor for undergrad, and grad school (2008-2015). The campus has changed so much since i first step foot in 2008 (all for the better). Baylor (and Waco) is in a resurgence/growth period. Its an awesome time for Baylor and Waco. I loved my time there even though I'm not religious (agnostic/theist). Great people (students and especially faculty), and community. There was a reason why I came back to get my masters at Baylor. They helped me get through some rough times, and i am better for it now. I was working on getting my Masters here, but in the end it didn’t work out. Admittedly, I had struggles in statistic work and did my best to improve, but just couldn’t quite get to the level of their expectations and so with only 3 classes left to complete my degree, I had to throw in the towel. I had an advisor that was difficult to get ahold of though and sometimes wouldn’t hear from him until the second or third attempt to contact him. Many times I felt like just an outsider in the program as I was a non-thesis student and they were more worried about their thesis students. Even when I did get ahold of him at times, he failed to get things coordinated and so I made a special trip to the school to complete something just to find out it was never coordinated. There was a couple of professors that I had a hard time following and understanding their approach to teaching the material. I asked if I could possibly take a similar class at another university and transfer it in, being that there were no other options, and that was refused by my advisor. I wasn’t the only one complaining about that class either. I use to love going to school, learning new things and expanding my abilities, but this place ended up burning me out and taking away that vigor to learn new things and pursue education. I plan to try and transfer my graduate credits elsewhere someday and finish my degree at another university.Steven Walton

Overall, this is an excellent college. It has a few problems involving students with loans and financial failure but overall the student body is cared for dearly. The president posts on Twitter often, the school representative (Jerry the bulldog) is seen around campus all the time, there are a lot of student events throughout the semester, the football team has gotten much better recently, the band is phenomenal, and the teacher to student ratio is great. I have had one lecture class with more than 30 students. Many of my classes are less than 20 students. The school tries to maintain a large school setting with a small school atmosphere. I strongly recommend Arkansas Tech to any students interested. Also, it's great to drive through and the food varies from day to day. Sometimes its great, sometimes it's not so great.Trevor Gould

since I started school in dallas colleges(2019) this summer 2022 is the worse for me. My professor O'Brien is never available, no help from him, and has denied access to all the features that other professors give access to students in order to help us. I went to the campus to talk to an advisor after sending him more than 5 emails, even at the campus No one knew his whereabouts and he finally responded after 2 weeks since i told him I think I'll drop that class he didn't even bother to try and assist me instead he said yes you can drop it and you'll for sure find the same class with another instructor good luck. Im only a freshmen at Mountainview community college but I already have a great opinion on the institution. I love the greenery surrounding the buildings because they make me feel tranquilized, I love the inclusivity this college gives and the diversity here. The professors that I have so far have been amazing and makes my classes worth looking forward to. I visited the school store in the S building just last week and I really love everything the store has to offer such as snacks, school supplies, feminine products, hygiene products, cosmetics, and basic necessities! The subway in the dining hall has welcoming employees with great customer service. The success coaches in the S building are also very helpful with planning for classes and addressing any concerns you may have. I love this college!Brianna

I have been attending Texas Wesleyan since the Spring 2018 semester with a semester break after my first one. This school has changed my life. I've seen some of the other reviews and claims that it is a "liberal university… brainwashing their students," or that it is "too expensive" and "not worth the price." From my experience here, none of that is true. To start with the first claim, what happens here inside the classroom is that the professors, both liberal and conservative, require their students to provide evidence for their claims when they hand out assignments about controversial and non-controversial topics. That is not brainwashing; it is teaching students how to think for themselves, and in a society devoted to freedom, one cannot be free if they cannot think for themselves and question what they've been taught. As to the other claims about the price of the school, yes, this private university is more expensive than other schools in the area. However, what you are getting when you pay for these classes is a much smaller class size than any other school that I know if in DFW. This is extremely helpful for all students that attend and are willing to take advantage of professor office hours and the ability to ask questions in the middle of class. It only takes a willingness to use the resources available, resources we pay for, to be successful. With that in mind, tuition does go up, as it does at every college and university, but Texas Wesleyan goes out of its way to find grants, scholarships, and other types of tuition assistance for their students. There is a lot of care and love put into every aspect of what this school does and I wouldn't trade it for any other school in the metroplex.Steven Leach

Choose another school. They charge way too much and do nothing to better the student living quarters. Have old dirty washers and dryers. Clogged sinks. Took too long to set dates for graduation ceremonies. Literally didn’t have the times until about 4 wks prior to graduation. Very unorganized. Maintenance never responds to or fixes repair requests. This heartfelt review is difficult for me because I actually attended Alvin junior high and Alvin high school off and on throughout my 12 years. I love this town. I was happy to attend this college for that precise reason. However, there were many many obstacles I went through to get my degree here. Frequently, I had to wait my opportunity cost between a poorly taught class, and a class dedicated towards my profession. This should not be happening. Two things caused this. Professors who do not calculate the time required to perform homework and assignments out of class Is one. The second cause were professors who should not be teaching at all. They are either rude, careless Or have some type of issue within their person. Every semester I had a professor like this even after referencing rate my professor. Eventually because of this college hiring so many professors with personal issues it eventually cost me my accumulative science and math GPA to fall under. Consequently, I would not qualify to enter into university science or math department. Every semester on student loans, I worked 10 hours a day for seven days a week for two years. There should have been no reason why my grades were affected. However, how a professor teaches is one of those things that an individual has absolutely no control over. Because of the poor department management and analysis of teaching from professors by administrative, I will no longer be able to pursue the group degree I intended on pursuing. As a compromise, I had to apply for graduation for a general studies associates to leave this college peacefully, and it not destroy my loan approval or potential to graduate in four years. Best degree plans for this college are governments, English, etc. Stay at another community college for science and math because these departments are seriously on organized and not monitored.Shauna Herrera

Keep Alvin Beautiful greeted at the Alvin City Fall cleanup. Texas Pride and others showed up 2 collect all kinds of trash and recycle. Really impressed with everybody that I got to work with as they had a great attitude and even though most were new to the event they jumped in and made things work well. Really proud of everybody who participated and made this a great event and keeping our city sparkling Update: the EMS and police cadet departments pulled together to do a huge exercise for the training of their students. Using the building abandoned building across the street they staged a mass shooter that the police cadets had to take out and then they pulled in the EMS students to help pick up and treat all the wounded. Was a terrific activity and professionally done. Very fun to participate in as a victim. Update: we had the spring Alvin clean up and had the best participation ever. 151 people brought all kinds of trash, metal recycle, electronics, batteries, paper shredding, and green waste to be recycled. Great place to take classes. My son takes classes here in the summer to transfer to his 4 year university. He has enjoyed all of his professors. I like the school because they have a great enrollment process. They've got a waiting area and they call you up by name and clearly post your name on monitors. I only give 4 stars because of their police department. If you pull through a parking space-ticket. They watch every vehicle and the slightest parking lot infraction can bring a quick ticket. They're using it as a money generator. You've got to read their police handout. A lot of rules are in place that aren't posted and a visitor can quickly find themselves ticketed. We've switched to College of the Mainland and we've been happier.David Carlisle

UPDATE: I was told that career services had been developed since 2014 so I began my masters here… they only changed the name of the website. They did get a new president which I have no earthly idea what he has done because this is the biggest waste of money. You still get the same answer in career services or any department there, “go check online.” It is sad for the great professors here that all the current student reviews mentioned. They deserve better and so do alumni. Past post (2014) The reason I gave it two stars is strictly because of the good professors there. As alumni I will even admit, this school has absolutely nothing else going for it. They have untrained teenage kids handling all your paperwork with HORRIFIC customer service. The most common phrase you hear when you interrupt their cellphone time by asking them a question is, it's online. The career services department is very underdeveloped, do not expect assistance finding a career after graduation. The most you will get is help developing a Tarleton version of linkedin. Honestly, the school is seemingly unorganized and I feel like the dining hall faculty are more friendly to the students rather than faculty who work in the administration parts of the school itself. Parts such as Advising services, housing, or Financial aid for example. (Although not all faculty of course but it seems to be more rude staff than you'd think). Some students have a problem with parking, resulting in parking in no parking zones. The website wasn't helpful to me at all when I was registering. They make you watch videos instead of putting steps on the same page. Rates for housing is pretty ridiculous especially since the meal plan is separate. In my opinion I feel that if the housing rates is going to be 3,000+ they should at least give you the meal plan instead of having to pay a extra 2,000 for that. I don't feel like the school or administration or whatever you want to call it are trying to be very helpful of anything so I don't really feel very secure I should say.BRangerBot

I am considered a distance learner here at the satellite campus in Waco Tx… I completed my bachelor's in criminal justice August 2011 I enjoyed the curriculum so much & my instructors that I have returned to complete my master's degree here, set to graduate December 2017 (graduated May 2018 with Masters of Criminal Justice)… for those students who say they did not or have not had a pleasant experience I do not possibly understand why, the staff is always helpful & if not ask for a supervisor….education at a university level is not handed to you it is a must that one grasp a understanding of their learning environment & set realistic goals! Cons: this school loves to throw away money for stuff nobody asks for (concerts every Friday, a park that removed half the parking at this university, an ugly alumni house at the front of the university, etc). Meanwhile, their internet is God-awful, the library doesn't have books for specific classrooms ready to check out like other universities, they have no calculators ready to check out or laptops. Every computer in the entire school is extremely slow and sticky. The food provided at the MET is bad most of the time plus they close everything too early. The gym has an unnecessary amount of cardio machines that take up 1/3 of the gym. The people that run the intramural sports are very poorly-trained individuals that aren't consistent with the rules and will sometimes make stuff up. One time, I overheard the ladies that work with financial aid, cashiers, general questions, etc. giggling at the fact that they had somebody on hold for 50 minutes already and they were all snickering at each other to keep them on hold to see how long they go for. The mascot is kinda lame but that's just my personal opinion. At this point, I've realized I'm just ranting cause of the new construction there is going on and I couldn't find parking nearby cause of it and the wifi is acting up again. But really, this school does offer good stuff such as: Pros: The professors are amazing The students are amazing The school is growing The new parking garage is convenient. The environment feels safe. Believes in free speech. Many many other things can be listed. Overall, this school is alright. You'll get your education, which is what mostly matters in the end. This school is alright. Most of the professors I have run into here want you to succeed and do a very fine job teaching. Which, I am a biology major so I cannot speak for all departments. My biggest complaint is the One Stop Services Center. Nobody can seem to keep their story straight and if you call in for help be prepared to wait at minimum thirty minutes before you actually get "helped". I use "helped" loosely because as stated earlier none of the employees behind the desk seem to be on the same page when it comes to offering help. I've received three very different answers from three different employees regarding the SAME issue. Also, parking is absolutely dreadful! If you don't have an 8am class good luck finding parking! I have spent thirty minutes circling the lots waiting to spot an opening and I have missed classes before due to there being inadequate parking.Cheyenne Dooly

I took classes after having graduated from a different university years ago. The administration here – specifically, admissions and Student Business Services – is horrible to work with. Rude, don't answer their phones, poor automated phone system, basically take your money and make you live with the poor customer service they provide because once you're enrolled, you don't have a choice, right? Additionally, I took a class from the worst professor I have ever had. His name I unfortunately can't recall. He patronized students who weren't well-versed in calculus and was rude in general. His teaching method consisted entirely of projecting pages of the book on the board and copying the sample problems. I couldn't believe it. He did not answer and student questions and did not seem to care about his students or his own abilities as a professor. I actually stopped attending the course, wasting a thousand dollars, because I couldn't sit through another class. This is coming from a person who LOVES school and has been a teacher for four years.Alexandra C.

I really like this school! People overall are friendly, and very helpful. I ll miss it here. And living on campus wasn't bad either I had a great dorm experience. Im graduating soon and I feel confident I will find a job through my hard work. Work very hard. Yes it's fun. But don't slip up your freshman year. Your gpa will be hard to get back up even when you make good grades. You got to make great grades. Don't party too hard. Education is something that should be taken seriously! But don't give up. One thing I would suggest is not being an undecided major. I regret that. Find something you're passionate about or something you like the most or feel is most beneficial to you and pick that as your major. In summary: Overcrowded, nearly over-priced, but with under-funded departments. Not handicapped friendly or even fat person friendly (they haven't upgraded half the lecture halls so if you're not stick thin be prepared to sit uncomfortably in a tight chair surrounded by hundreds of other people). Near non-existent diversity. Do not transfer here, you will receive no assistance. If this is all you can afford and if you manage to find a place to live near enough to campus then this school is OKAY. Otherwise, I would say look elsewhere for better upgraded facilities and friendlier student population.Marisa Pickett

I am an alumni. B.S. Chemical Engineering 2008, M.S. Biomedical Engineering 2012. I chose CSU as my undergrad school over Case Western because Case is ridiculously expensive and I received a full scholarship to CSU. My mother told me I could choose whatever school I wanted but if I passed the scholarship up for 40k+ a year in debt she would kill me. Thanks mom, you were right as always! The Chemical and Biomedical Engineering departments are outstanding. Great faculty, small class sizes, professors that legitimately care about the students but also won't put up with BS from students that aren't taking their own (or their classmates') education seriously. The head of the BME department at the time had a major impact on my life. He personally took interest in helping me get a full scholarship during the second year of my M.S. (Choose Ohio First scholarship), helped me land a Teaching Assistant position AND a fantastic internship. THANK YOU! CSU is not perfect though. I had some bad professors (and also excellent ones) in the math and physics departments. That is hard to avoid at any school. Many of the school departments are much, much bigger than mine so you may lose some of the personal interest from professors when your graduating undergrad class is more than 12 like mine. I tried to make use of the career center multiple times but they were not helpful in job searching. Also the Fenn College of Engineering (now the Washkewicz College of Engineering) building is woefully old and dated. It's so bad that in my second year in 2006 a metal fence had to be put about 10 – 15 feet in front of the building facade so no one would be injured by the crumbling concrete. I wish I was joking. The engineering labs were also filled with old equipment, the classrooms were missing technology that is standard in other schools like projectors. Note that this was all before the very generous donation from Mr. Washkewicz so I hope things have improved. The only other complaint I have is that my graduation requirements changed a couple times during my B.S. and I had a VERY difficult time finding out if I was on track for graduation. In fact I wasn't sure that I was going to graduate until I got confirmation about a month before graduation! Even with these complaints I had a great experience at CSU, which is why I went back for my M.S. after briefly considering Ohio State University. It was my professors and department that made the decision easy, they had a great positive effect on my life and I owe a lot to them.Jim

I'm a business student currently in my third year at CSU (transferred from Kent State) and have nothing but good things to say about this school. The campus is beautiful and right in the center of Downtown, giving you easy access to tons of interesting things to do in Cleveland. The general vibe of the campus is very laid back and friendly, and despite what other reviews seem to say, this is a very liberal/progressive and diverse school with many students of all walks of life. I feel I have received a perfectly adequate education at CSU, as someone who cares mainly about getting ready for a career and moving into the business world. There are good professors and bad ones, but the majority of them have been very likeable and knowledgeable. Many of my business professors have lots of real world experience and many years working in their field. I cannot comment on the other departments, but the business school is excellent and has many career services available to students. As a commuter student I love the RTA pass they provide, so I don't have to worry about driving and parking downtown (yes, their parking situation is pretty terrible here). Finally I'd like to say shame on the idiots who are giving my school 1-star reviews because of a faux pas made by the administration. The first amendment comment was misinformed, but it's far from supporting the offensive poster. Anyone trying to paint CSU as anti-LGBTQ because of that poster debacle is ignorant.Steven Barnes

I love Cleveland State. I am a biology pre-med major and the department is great. However, if you live in the dorms, don't plan on getting your mail anytime soon. It takes at least 10 days added on to the normal mail time to receive any type of letter or package. I ended up just getting a P.O. box at a local post office. The education and clubs are great. There are so many great opportunities here to take advantage of. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone who wants to live in the city and get a great education.Madison Chapanar

I'll preface this with that the only reason this school is getting 2 stars is because staff has actually been helpful when I have reached out to try and fix things. But when I tell you EVERY step of this process has been an absolute nightmare I am not exaggerating. I am a TWU graduate and needed a quick summer class to take because i got a conditional acceptance to a graduate school. This is time sensitive. So, long story short every single step had some issue that took multiple phone calls and people to fix. The biggest issue was me paying for an official transcript, seeing that on the tracking information brookhaven had received the transcript, and days later having the transcript STILL not put into the system which kept me from registering for the class that my entire future quite literally depended on me taking. Because of the bad timing of spring break I had to register late and it took an hour in person of me and the wonderful admissions worker figuring it out because no one we needed to contact was actually on campus. Although she was incredibly helpful, it was obvious the entire set up was frustrating for her too. The website is outdated and confusing and I get endless errors- i couldn't even pay without there being an error. It should not take two weeks to get someone registered for one class.Brooke-Lynn Taylor

Christi Carter is an awful person who sees students making mistakes during class and says NOTHING, then cheats during the "random body part selection process for competicy testing" and gives you the one body part she saw you making a mistake on but said nothing during class so she can kick you out of the program. Absolute zero compassion for students and their education. Luckily I've graduated Radiology at a different college dispite her being an absolute awful teacher. How someone can be so curropt and unfair became director of the program is beyond me.__

I was at this campus just to get my Student ID this week. Everyone I encountered was kind and helpful from the security desk attendant to the staff in Student Services. When I was looking at one of the outside campus maps to find my way a staff member came up and assisted me with the directions to where I needed to go. Reading the other reviews here, I see others have had problems with admissions and financial aid – I think all universities have lots of complicated paperwork in regards to those areas, so patience is necessary.Curtis Johnson

I love the professors. Temple College is lucky to have professors that have doctorate degrees to teach. As a students, we are lucky to pay a junior college price for access to PhD 's. Those are the professors I choose from when given the opportunity in my degree plan. The business management of the junior college could use some training in customer service and fully understand the job they do. I have learned to always have my military files with me since the files have a tendency to be lost every other semester. I never knew that I earned the President's List or the Vice President's List awards until they announced it at my graduation. Student life is hampered by lack of support from staff and lack of student interest. I hope that this college will continue to grow, take on a supportive/student oriented attitude, and attract the quality professors and staff the college needs to grow. I look forward to my tax dollars at work showing improvement and multiplying to better serve the community.Jane Smith

I loved this college. I met a lot of really great people while here, but more importantly I felt the teachers were fair and prepared me to go to University. Also if you are not part of TRIO you should go there. I spent a lot of time there and met really good people like Debbi Owens, Tina Marsh and Cecilia. I would do my homework there and receive help and tutoring. It is a wonderful thing for the College to allow students to access programs like these and I am hoping that more people can create programs like these. I received my Associate's Degree here and racked up a lot of transfer credit. I would come back and do it all over again if I had the chance. Great SchoolRay Beecham

I was in their nursing program and I passed all the exams with mid Bs. My clinical instructor made up many violations and forced me to accept them. She further used those violations to give me very low grade (25 out of 91) on my midterm evaluation despite the fact that I was never late for clinical and I handed in all my paperwork on time. It is obviously discrimination. I had to withdraw from the course because you can not fight discrimination with hard-work. I will give it a minus star if I can.Chun-Wei Lin

buses and parking are nightmares here. No parking or you will have to pay everytime you park including weekend whereas other schools often free. Buses always late and full. The school not even tried to get more buses. Also, there is 40mins wait between 2 buses. Finally, unequal opportunity for on cambus job or help. We came to many departments and asked for help but they rarely tried to solve but kept saying we could not do anything. And we came back multiple time and the other did help us out. So what is the point of saying we cannot do anything when another people in the department can? unequal training? Also, if you are looking for a job here, good luck!duc nguyen

I enjoyed my time at UNT, made some great friends, and I have good memories. However, this University is not longer a place of higher education but a political activist training ground. I never thought that I’d see the day that The First Amendment would not be honored at UNT, but that is what has happened. And to think I have a degree in Criminal Justice from there is similar to being trained as an EMT by Dr. Kevorkian. Awful….it’s too bad that I will not be able to hire any students (or UNTs “product”) from here as it’s just too risky. Same with giving to the Development office.Where's Waldo?

The Grad program is a joke. I've never met more people incompetent of doing their job. The undergrad school should conduct training with the grad school to get them up to par. Because they dropped the ball, I now get stuck with their issues. Also the elderly lady working in billing should take a phone etiquette class. We are in 2022. There shouldn't be this many issues consistently happening. Yet, the undergrad side was on top of every single aspect. UNM is an awesome university! I'm currently a junior and throughout my three years here UNM has provided me with a number of opportunities, friends, resources and life skills. The campus is gorgeous, at all times of the year! People on campus are always friendly and there's always a ton going on. Aside from the great atmosphere, the staff and professors are extremely nice and always willing to help. I came here with no major in mind and was able to explore with the help of my advisor until I figured it out. I was able to create the degree that I wanted through the liberal arts program and my focus areas have opened so many doors for me! UNM has also provided me with the opportunity to go on exchange to another University for a whole year at the same price for tuition, amazing! I will always be grateful for the knowledge and skills I've gained as well as all of the amazing friends and colleagues I've made! I truly could not have asked for a better undergrad experience.Cassie Collister

This is a nice large clean campus. The only bad thing is probably the bicycle theft. Even if you use ulock, there's high chance that it might get stolen. Duck pond is one the best places to chill. Architecture building library has the best view of Sandia mountains from campus. If you love to watch full moon, Johnson field is a good place!Khandoker Nuzhat Rafa Islam
