I will start with the good. The instructors are amazing. Most of them that I have had are very intelligent and filled with the necessary knowledge to teach you. Now the bad. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE COUNSELORS!!!! Figure out what classes you need to take on your own. I spent 3.5 years there with a combination of full and part time and have no degree and no requirements for any programs that I told them I was most interested in. When I was a vulnerable 17 year old first generation college student there completely on my own they told me I needed to take reading for Nursing. For one, looking back, I placed out of reading. For two, I have yet to come across a nursing program that requires reading. It seems that they always gave me the run around and had me taking all of the classes that I did not need, and none of the classes that I did need. If you can figure out what classes you need to take on your own, then The school if great, and the education that you receive is great. If you have nobody to help you or guide you in your life and are solely dependent on the counselors advise, find an alternative.Amber Parson

I didn’t know I Loved ECC, until I moved and I was out of district so I had to go to MCC. I Hate MCC everything and everyone is shut off by 4pm and there’s no almost no teachers willing to teach past 4 (There are but only some). This is impossible to manage. I’m getting a job near ECC so I can go back. I MISS YOU. Not only does ecc have a ton a teachers, but they offer a variety of times for classes especially in the afternoon. There teachers are wonderful and dedicated (not all of course but most) and there facility offers so many different activities and clubs you can go crazy in there. I won’t cheat on you MCC but I will inform you when I leave you and that it’s not working out.ruby leiva

I write this review with a very heavy heart, as I feel like the issues that have plagued myself and the important people in my life have not been improved on at MCC. Pros: MCC has an incredible range of teachers. The Criminal Justice instructors completely prepared me for transferring to a 4 year. They're so knowledgable in their field and love their students. I still go and visit them since they were so helpful and kind! I also like the variety of clubs they have at the school. There is something for everyone. Cons: This is where I get angry. I know so many people including myself, who have been swindled out of time and money by the counselors. They tell you to take classes, only to turn it around a few semesters later and say you never needed them. I spent a year and a half more there than I needed to, and my boyfriend has spent almost 2 years there more than needed. We were told we needed to take specific classes if we wanted to graduate, only to look at the actual 'planning progress' guide on MyMcc to see that there were numerous alternatives that could have been taken to receive the degree. Not to mention we both were never taught how to navigate the online planning guide, so we trusted the counselors for help. We've wasted thousands of dollars on classes that did not pertain to our majors. I would have spent more if I didn't talk to a teacher in my field, who gave it to me straight and helped me make a schedule of what classes to take that were absolutly necessary. I am still incredibly thankful, but it shouldn't be the teachers job to honestly help plan their classes. That's what a counselor is for. It still blows me away that after all this time this kind of behavior is still accepted. Bottom line is, if you're going here for a class or two for credit during the summer or in between semesters, go for it. If you want to receive a degree, be wary and trust your gut. Learn the (difficult) mechanics of the website, as it's way more reliable than any counselor.Natalie H

Edit: I'm updating my previous review but it still remains at a stellar 5 star. This is the best school I've been to. The people upstairs in Building A who run the advising and financial aid are mediocre but once you pass through that it is so amazing. I always register online for my classes so I don't have to wait in line. So if you like to be guided by the hand and told what courses you should take and not have to contemplate what you might like to take this is not the school for you. This is college, not elementary people, surprise! You actually have to think for yourself! (The audacity, I know) if you go in looking for private rich kid snobby type atmosphere where people carry you to wherever you need to go you're going to be disappointed. As far as instructors go, I cannot recommend MCC enough. Those I have currently, and have had in the past, go above, beyond, and well out of their way to assist students with material, so future students can rest assured that they will be in good hands. One thing I will say is, be ready to deal with ten kinds of attitude from financial aid, if and when you need to contact them. I've had to do so twice this semester – once for an issue they could have contacted me with when said issue happened and avoided the mix-up all together and once with a question about a grant I received – and on both occasions it seemed like I was bothering them. I got really snotty, condescending answers, so….be prepared to deal with that. That aside, though, I love MCC and highly recommend it, whether you're just starting out or heading back to school.Asero

In the fall of 2014 I signed up for classes to start my future. Following my fafsa being denied I dropped ALL my classes within the same week. Black Hawk West Campus now has sent it to collections which is haunting me 4 years later. I was never contacted by Black Hawk about my debt, that I shouldn’t have incurred since I never stepped foot on their campus except to sign up and drop (IN THE SAME WEEK) to now 4 years later find I have a debt in COLLECTIONS due to their lack of communication or care. I’ve done what I can to try and figure it out but their “Policy” doesn’t allow them to work with me or it’s never the “Right” person to talk to. If you want to be haunted down the road by something this LESS THAN AMAZING so called “college” has to offer! Then sign up because you’ll be let down!Ryan Heberer

Advisors are hit or miss. Once I found a good one, I made it a point to always ask for her. Most of the professors I've had are good, although some are rather quirky (to be expected, I guess.) The terrible downfall for this college is some of the financial aid staff and registrar staff. They are patronizing, dismissive, not helpful at all, and have an attitude problem. It's as though Black Hawk doesn't realize that these are the first people that most students are going to come into contact with, and those same people will set the foundation for the student's first and lasting impression. Absolutely amazing college! It's amazing how much they are willing to help students out. There's scholarships to help pay for tuition, and programs that can even help you out with book/laptop expenses. They even have therapy sessions for anyone who's stressed and may just need to vent! No a good place to take a home inspector class you have 60 hours to read a huge book, and triton college push you to get brand new book but all the material they show you is from 1900, therefore the teacher encourage you to just read the book because their old material doesn't Match with the new book, nothing is updated. Clean, friendly, cool school. I was in the A building, the lady in room A126 was VERY nice and quiet since it was a testing room. They even have FREE feminine products in restrooms for women. I asked about future classes and the lady who helped me initially was VERY pleasant and turned her computer screen around to show me how to navigate the schools website!! Waste of time and money. Only 1 microbiology teacher this semester… same one I had last semester that couldn’t speak English and sent us to the dean if we had ANY sort of question. I tried to get a different one this semester but there was only one that they were offering. I reached out for help multiple times and never got any help other than “try finding new ways to study” could never have zoom meetings to discuss a problem. My councilor was absolutely no help, wasted 2 years trying to get things done and she always said I “had” to do this and this first when I have my pre reqs plus MANY more classes completed and even retook micro to get a better grade, with a teacher that can’t speak English and refused to help his own students. He always talked about covid and we never learned anything that was on the actual tests. Total waste of time and money, skip jw and go to a university.Mckenzie Vallee

Great place to continue your education. Affordable and efficient. A smaller college like John Wood can work to your advantage. It did for me. There was no overcrowded rooms and parking lots. Terrible experience lately. Have been taking sculpture but always have known a seething ill will exists. There is an undercurrent poisoning the atmosphere as if some sort of competition is going on rather than artistic creation. If it had not happened so often I would not complain but whatever I work on generally gets moved to the back of the line to be cast whenever. It doesn't feel good. I had put up with it because I live in a tiny trailer and really enjoyed having room to sculpt. It was just a pipe dream I had after I retired but now it isn't fun being the object of attitude manipulation and derision as if I have a case of dementia and am unable to discern the actions of this coterie. This is going to be my last class if I can cast what I did in wax last semester and I'll find some other medium rather than allowing the insult to my psyche to continue. Covid vaccine review. Very organized. It all went smoothly. Thank you to all the workers there! First, there are a few check-in/screenings. Then you meet with a military personal to give your insurance and personal info to. Then it’s shot time. After a couple min wait I was in the chair. Monitored for 15 mins and second dose appointment made. I arrived around 10:00am and was back in my car by 10:40am.Erica S

I have been a student of DePaul University – Law College since 2019. Before joining DePaul I was contemplating between DePaul and other Universities, I am so happy I made the right choice to join DePaul. Not only is it a prestigious University with many famous alumni names, but also because it is a University that has made the list of the top best Universities for many years. Depaul has the best facility you can hope to study under, the administration are very helpful and my advisor, is one of the best, always available whenever I needed assistance, guidance or help. If you are a graduate of DePaul, you can be sure that employers will want to add you to their staff. Being part of DePaul, is being part of a large educational family. There are two campuses, the main one is located in Lincoln Park and the other one is located in the Loop, right in the heart of the business hub, if you are attending College of Law or College of Business. There are two huge libraries in the Loop campus, with access to Starbucks, as well as to, Barnes and Nobles. In both Colleges you have cafeterias amd study lounges. There is a Toastmasters club at DePaul and many other groups and clubs to join. Also, DePaul offers a help center, fpr students who may need extra help with certain classes, as well as, a writing center for whenever you need your essays reviewed, with feedback and assistance in improving it before submission. With all of the above and more, I could not possibly list all of the things DePaul os known for, or offers, but I can tell you one thing, if you happen to choose DePaul and become accepted, be sure you are part of the many successful people who will graduate with pride. You can be a full fledged patriotic American, but just because your parents travel and you may have a foreign transcript (from high school/ middle school) you are deemed an international student. To add insult to injury this particular issue entailed the student already having graduated from a neighboring community college. Yet still, they are deemed international. An obvious protocol set in place to guzzle money out of the student. Wasn’t even thrilled about their level of academics to begin with, so not having this school as an option isn’t a loss in the slightest for our family. Hispanic Heritage event went on without a hitch. Free of Problems and controversy. Entertainment was Great Food was Awesome. The Highlight was the introduction of the Main Speakers The New Era Young Lord's. Also some Associates and Friends from there Early Year's. The Bomba group provided good Entertainment and a Festive Atmosphere. In the Middle Sixties you could count the Minorities attending DePaul. The all played on the Basketball team. If your considering this school really weigh out the pros and cons. Overall, I would never recommend this school. Yeah it is cheaper but is it worth the pain the school will put you through. Worst school ever. I obtained my bachelors and masters at a GSU; Many of my friends in the other programs and I agree the most of the teachers favor students and are extremely bias. Also, some classes are only offered during certain semesters. The following happened to myself and many of my friends at GSU, One of your core classes that you really need in order to graduate is only offered in the fall. When the fall comes around, you’re going to be told that the college could not find an adjunct for the course so it will be offered next year in the fall. That really sucks, especially if your receiving financial aid, now you’re going to have to take a class you really don’t need in order to have enough credits to receive your financial aide. Another problem my peers and I had. You only get 4 tickets for your graduation. To make matters worse, If you do not finish your program in May. you have to wait forever for your ceremony; my peers and I finished in the winter and we had to wait the following year to walk across the stage. More so, many classes are offered at night ( 4:30-7:20 and 7:30-10:20) which was convenient for me. However, the cafeteria would be close early. Coming straight from work I would be extremely hungry. Why close the cafeteria at 7pm when many classes start at 7:30 and get out of class at 10:30?Ashley Lamb

Cashiers office treated me s lot better, Financial Aid office people are super helpful, and Veterans Office treated me and other military both former and current a lot better than COD. Family Development Center is not only the name but it's the center purpose of this facility. From the administrators, the teachers, the cooks, the maintenance workers, etc. When you come into the facility you're greeted with smiles, and gestures of kindness. I love how you can share your concerns about your child and how they listen in order to assist you. Their concerns are not just limited to your child while they're in the facility but at home as well. They offer activities for family bonding, seminars for family development and so on. By doing this, it allows parents to see other parents who are experiencing the same things and coming to great solutions. Developing families early on, giving a great start to assist our children to have a positive school experience as they grow. It is in my opinion, the hope and comfort that's needed to raise a child. Trinity Christian College has great education and dedicated professors and staff. I know the college is trying to work on being more diverse and educate its students on diversity and the beauty of when everyone accepts differences. I found it incredibly difficult to be a minority here even though I was adopted into a Dutch family. I know so many of my Hispanic friends struggled as well to fit in. This college is perfect for you if you grew up in a small, white neighborhood and had Christian education all your life. The college is very cliquey and has lots of white students, so if you grew up in a different background, you will find it difficult to adjust. A lot of the students aren’t open minded to different cultures/backgrounds, and it makes it very difficult to make friends. The white students tend to just make friends with other white students. I wish I had picked a different college for this reason.Lydia

Awesome place to learn and great professors who are more than willing to help and get to know you. There are great dorms with a lot of space and a pretty relaxed campus atmosphere but if you want more excitement you can make it happen as well. Great education, science and business programs as well. I took off one star only because of some of the girls here formed an annoying blond christian group who are super fake but that's only a small portion of our amazing students on campus. I found my best friends here and I am so thankful I went here Lots of intelligent students who are ready to learn and better serve our Lord out in the world.Eric RES

Trinity Christian College well they shouldn't of even call it that since it's a fake Christian College. This school is an absolute joke. Their admissions office is an absolute joke, I had my transcripts sent from my school and they would constantly email how they were never sent. School is very overpriced for the quality of education that you can just find else where for cheaper and better. Don't bother even wasting your time at this fake of Christian university. Went there years ago, but it still holds to it's same terrible level of it's own. If I didn't get my credits transferred when I did they would not have been considered transferable. Even when I went back to school and needed to send them in I had to fight with my graduating college to have them accept two of the classes I took from here and the person whom I spoke with said that they were fighting them because of the terrible reputation that Kishwaukee has and they didn't want to accept any of their credits and they don't anymore. The saving grace is that the credits were from 2008, if they were any younger I would not have qualified. The two were a basic Chem course and a Basic level math. I also took a test to qualify me out of a higher math so since I had that they figured I was competent enough in math for that math course to count. This school also doesn't have any licensed guidance counselors so they can't offer you any real degree program assistance, but that is kinda the point, they want you to waist your money there. DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL!!!! Even if you think you might save money, you wont and other colleges WILL question the courses, even the state accredited ones which should be transferable to any college. Also, any college can deny any course for any reason and they are the final say. After going through college, after attending community colleges, me and my husband can both say that the best call you can make is to start off in the college you are planning to graduate from. If you need to go to community college to raise your GPA before going to the college you want, DO NOT take any courses based on a major you are seeking, just take Gen Ed courses. My husband's college turned down half of his courses for his major just because they wanted to, even though they should have been accepted, all in an effort to keep him there for longer. The truth of the matter is that he could have graduated with a slightly better major in 3.5 years if he had just simply started with his Four year school vs the five years it took to get a slightly less marketable degree because it would have taken another year. Never forget, colleges care about making money too, they are just as shady as any other greedy corporation so treat them as such when you consider how long you want to go and where you want to go.Cou Berry

Horrible community college run by a top heavy administration that makes poor finically decisions. Like so many other community colleges the pay for adjuncts is incredibly bad. Your class may be taught by someone making very little to point where they might quit mid early or late semester for better work which is literally just about any other job. I would never recommend this college to anyone unless your going into their nursing program which they seem to care about (emphasis on seem to care about). Sad school that teaches you how to fail . They do not care about anything but money and make that evidently clear only once you’ve paid enough . Sad workers who don’t act like they have a family at home, poor performance from instructors doing an actual job teaching, it’s more so an environment where you buy to sit and read materials you can find for free in the library. This review is purely based on my experiences and what I witnessed. If you are planning on attending this “institution” in the pursuit of an education degree, then this is a great place for that, otherwise pay a little more and go to either Loyola, NU, U of C or save money and go to a state school. Favoritism is absolutely rampant within the university as well as subjective grading (e.g. A.D.). If you are on a sports team, you are guaranteed a 3.0 average (this is a fact). I have never witnessed so much cheating in my entire life, until I attended here. The worst person I had to ever deal was in the Sociology Department (i.e. E.W.). “The reason why black people are in jail is because they are angry”, yes he said this. Overall the administration are not nice people. Honestly, if I had to do it all over again, I would have gone to a state school. I made this review because we had a trip to this university. Mary was our tour guide. She was super nice and professional. The entrance is clean, there’s a map of the property next to the entrance, and I like the garden next to the entrance too. I really like the Butler Room because it looks good and old fashioned. The cafeteria is big enough and it surely doesn’t look like a high school cafeteria. The Gallery Lounge looks fantastic and colorful. Scholars den is a comfy, well fashioned, and a good place to study in. There’s a statue of Saint Francis Xavier it’s in the Mercy Ministry.3b0p

Don't go here if you're not a football player or majoring in nursing! This school is garbage! I majored in music education and piano performance. The professors didn't give a damn about their students. The campus was garbage too! Goose poop everywhere you walk! Dirty lake water! Dorm water was different colors as if it was sponsored by Skittles (I kid you not!) My dorm room was literally a janitors closet! You're better off going elsewhere for school than SXU. I recently received a class schedule (non-credit) brochure in the mail from Harper College and found a mosaic class taught by artisan and glass artists Urii Guchenia and Nathalie who has her very own studio in Willowbrook. The class was very inexpensive and well worth it! Kristin the librarian was very efficient in sending us a friendly email reminder along with the campus map to find the building where the class was. The class was held in “The Make Shop” within the library. All supplies were furnished and setup for us. Nathalie and Urii gave a us brief history of glass mosaics and were so helpful while we created our pieces. They had a vast array of glass tiles in every color imaginable! It was so much fun and gave us all a whole new appreciation of mosaic artisanry!Michelle Foy

A place where I got the opportunity to make wonderful memories that will be with me forever!! A place which helped me find my hidden passion and persistently encouraged me to work for it!! All along with a beautiful campus, excellent faculty and staff, and interesting engagement activities!! The professors, academic advisors, and counselors helped me excel in classes, motivated and kept me on track for the completion of my degree in a timely manner, and most importantly helped me make my mind to work for a specific major rather than remaining undecided! Please do not go to this school, its terrible! I went here for 3 years and obtained an associates degree in Arts meant towards a bachelors degree back in 2014 but my experience was horrible. Me being black and African, they denied me an opportunity to use the Chemistry Lab to work on an idea that I wanted to prove yrt they were allowing other students to use it. Yet, the school used me to advertise in the Daily Herald News Paper as an immigrant that goes to their school doing athletics. If you get lucky then your experience here can be very enriching, I however did not get lucky. Half-way through my 2nd semester as a freshman here I got Bronchitis around midterm times. Most of my teachers were very nice about rescheduling my midterm due to the fact I was contagious and couldn't be in class to take these tests. But there was one teacher who simply refused to allow me to have a retake, through emails I offered to come in on his office hours or any other time that worked well for him, simply to retake a test I didn't have access to. He was terribly condescending, constantly treating me like I was trying to trick him, talking down to me and behaving combatively. Eventually I gave up trying to reason with him, and simply accepted that I had just wasted thousands of dollars and months of my time on a wasted endeavor. This will shortly cause me to lose eligibility for my scholarship. Without this scholarship I have no incentive to stay at the school. When considering this school you have to realize that its truly a bargain school, its relatively cheap and for the cost you get acceptable education and a degree that isn't completely useless. However, what this school lacks in comparison to more prestigious (and expensive) schools is reliability. Some teachers are okay, some courses are pretty good, but when your committing so much time, effort and money into something, you don't want "sometimes good" and you certainly don't want "sometimes a complete and total waste". Disabled and deaf/hard-of-hearing students are not consistently given reasonable accommodations under the law by professors/instructors or the Disability Resource Center (DRC). You are lucky if TransVac returns your multiple calls or emails, and usually when they do they just tell you they can't drive ou to class, your internship interview, etc. Disabled and D/HH students and faculty who speak out are often retaliated against by Deb Miller, the DRC Director, and professors in disability and rehabilitation services and counselors who consider themselves the experts on the disability, and the only ones who should be allowed to speak about disability and the disabled experience at NIU. I tried to talk about these and other issues to the ombudsperson; Academic Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; and professors who supposedly specialize in disability and was either completely ignored or told how great Miller and the DRC are. I am hard of hearing with ADHD and chronic pain. My mom has an incurable degenerative condition. Disability and deafness are my life. I feel like NIU broke my spirit and pushed me out of professional life. I experienced and witnessed harmful ableist and audist discrimination, and it felt like no one believed me, cared, or cared enough to be a genuine ally.Kelsey Williams

I went there in 1985. Horrible decision for me personally. I left after 1.5 years and finished at a small christian school. To me, "small" is better. At NIU I saw vandalism on my floor , drugs, so so food, and not really a culture of study. It was a culture of the "world." Just not a great environment. I remember a professor telling us all to look to the person to our left and then our right and then say to us, "one of you won't be here next year." Oh my word – THANKS for the loving encouragement. Sure enough, he was right, I was gone 1.5 years later. Then, you have to drive, walk, or take a bus MILES to and from classes on a ugly "average" at best campus. How enjoyable. Then, when you arrive at your 450 person class – it's often taught by someone you can hardly hear or understand. Will it give you a degree? Yes. For my money, I would rather spend a few more bucks and go to a smaller private school. Worth every penny. I know lots of people who "liked" NIU. But, nobody seems to LOVE having gone there. The professors can't hold a candle to those at a smaller University. The time, care and investment is 10 fold better at a smaller school. My .02 cents.Rocky Ruggiero

The University of Chicago Booth campus is one of the oldest higher learning institutions in Chicago. The Campus is spread across the South Hyde Park and surrounding neighborhood. Had a chance to stop into the Harper Building and the welcoming atrium and staff. The administrative staff here are very friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoy the mix of old buildings and new ones. Going in the old buildings, is like go into a time capsule. Student's seem to enjoy the campus, as well as residents of the neighborhood. *note – typos are due to phone issues, not poor education. I have had good experiences at this school and also at Harold Washington. The teachers are the best part of community colleges. My understanding is that they are chosen based on their ability to teach, rather than what research they are doing (which I'm told is the major criteria for hiring professors at 4 year universities). The only negative experience here, has been some minor harassing by the business office about tuition payment. This is somewhat understandable, but my frustration is due to having already spoken with the office about when I will pay, but I'm still receiving constant reminders to do so. That really is minor though and I would recommend this school to anyone. Very friendly and helpful teachers, cafeteria workers (food is decently priced to) and custodial staff. Haven't really interacted with anyone other than that.RoProArt

This college is the worst colleges in the history of Chicagoland and I thought that the teachers care more about students with special needs and disabilities as well but it seems like they don’t really care about disabilities students like us who struggle through catching up with some homework assignment on blackboard and has to be submitted by those instructor which they never graded it at all over the past two months or so I had a terrible experience of being part of this school which is too far compared to where I’m live at now every day I always take three buses and two train like the red line train to the blue line train and a extra bus to get there but always get there very late and the students from there are so sarcastic and not really friendly that much often. I went to the GED office everything was perfect and very nice people there but NOT tutoring center office A-245 , I can't believe Wright college still have these people in its offices reception! They need to learn how to nicely receive students ,being nice won't cost you anything, you're in college not at your home ,remember that ! If you feel that's not your place plz move , without students you'll never be there .I'm talking about the black lady with glasses at reception. This was my first onsite class with DeVry. I have had such a great experience with my senior project class here at Naperville. Being that it was my first time, I had to get an ID and receive a quick orientation. The onsite staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. In this session, our class was granted the permission to occasionally use the Addison campus for access to the tech playground for our presentations. Our innovative teacher, Professor Rucks, encouraged us to explore and utilize the facility to aid in our course work. When I needed academic advice and assistance, Mr. Dufresne, Assistant Dean of Academic Excellence, made himself immediately available and went out of his way to make sure my needs were met. Professor Nichelle Manuel made Database Essentials for Business w/ Lab worth every hour taking this class valuable. Her instruction during the lectures made everything that i read just *Click* every week. Her patience with the class really came through when a classmate needed help to clarify a task in our Lab. She made the class easy to understand and learning a new program very valuable. this class has helped me in my career by helping me improve on my relationships at my current employer by knowing how the program taught is the same one used at my place of employment. My school experience at Keller has been great from the start and I can honestly say it has been mainly due to the awesome faculty and professors. My last class Applied Managerial Statistics (Math534) just ended and it was again evident that because of professors like Dr. Al, who has the patience to teach and listen to students needs, that I was able to learn a lot more that I thought I would. Quality of care and service is highly, highly dependent on the specialty you’re seeing here. Their oncology is #1 in the state for a reason and absolutely the best place to go for cancer care. Truly amazing teams and the best doctors and nurses I’ve ever had. Imagining is also incredible, at least with the techs. Every scan I’ve had has been a wonderful experience and truly exceptional. The other departments I’ve experienced here are lacking. Orthopedics – doctor was over an hour late to my appointment, spent 5 minutes with me, had zero bedside manners. I reas the notes after and they were full of unprofessional remarks that gave the sense he didn’t care at all about my care and was dismissive. It’s not the attitude I would expect from an attending physician, or at least not one that actually wants to work there. The facility themselves are very hit or miss in terms of accessibility. I use mobility aids and while much of the hospital is accessible, a lot of it isn’t. Arkes pavilion only has accessible bathrooms on two floors and multiple hallways that are not wide enough for mobility aids. I had to stop seeing my psychologist there simply because the there were no automatic doors on his floor, including main hallways. If you’re in Illinois and need cancer care, especially for rare or advanced cancers, there is no better place than northwestern. For every other specialty, it’s very hit or miss and most often seems to be miss. If you need orthopedic specifically, go to Rush.Sara Sunshine Rosado

Absolute worst ER! I was admitted at 7:00 p.m. and it’s now 1:25 a.m. as I write this review. I am in an examination room waiting for the doctor to see me, so far I’ve only met with the PA. I was called into the examination room a little after midnight—still waiting on the doctor. This is the most unprofessional hospital I’ve ever been to. The waiting room is not clean. In fact, a man in a wheelchair urinated on himself three times. Streams of urine poured from his wheelchair. I told a nurse about it, but he did nothing. I am disheartened at what I’ve seen by the staff and the lack of care needed to maintain a humane and efficient ER. Visitors are treated like cattle, and the wait times are disgraceful.R W

Been here since 2pm- car accident and cut finger. It is now 9:30 and the only one that seems to be doing their job right is the night shift security guard who happens to see us putting our mask down. With all the money that goes into this place there should be better cleaning rotations, a better turn around for patients. I am convinced they have only one doctor and 15 nurses working. The picture below is only one area. The blankets are from 3 different patients that were called after atleast 7 hours of waiting. Bathrooms are disgusting. Spent $40 on coffee and a sweet x2 and not to mention the excruciating parking rates. Just go to Stroger atleast there they will help you with the ridiculous cost.Albertina Cruz

I went to this school back in 2015-2016. I was living near the school at the time, but I had to move over 4 hours away after escaping domestic violence. This school hires professors that do not want to see domestic violence victims succeed. Put your money elsewhere. Here is my story: Even with my broken wrist, I managed to complete the courses and coursework, and for a time, the professors were understanding of my situation, since I was not cleared to go back to work yet and was relying on my financial aid to pay for basic things like my phone and my health bills related to my wrist. I ended up getting cleared to go back to work, and had the job opportunity of a lifetime present itself to me. I accepted so I could get back on my feet. However, this was around the same time I had to complete one of my first residency requirements. My student adviser at the time was willing to work with me and found a course that I could take to meet my work life needs. However, it was the only option available to me. Since I had to leave for training for two weeks, the work campus did not allow personal business to be conducted on their computers, which included school work. I emailed my professor, and explained to him the situation that I was going to be gone for training when the class began and explained to him my predicament, asking for a compromise so I wouldn't lose my job. Part of the coursework was to attend GoToMeeting lectures. However, due to the nature of my work, I was unable to stream these lectures as no recording cameras were allowed. I explained all of this to him in e-mails. He did not listen to my emails, giving me responses that made it seem like he wasn't even reading my e-mails, and forwarded me back to the student adviser and washed his hands of it. Ultimately, after enduring a layover at an airport after training had finished, this professor expected me to attend a Go-To-Meeting class with two hours of sleep, then berate me for my lack of participation, after explaining to him my job's requirements and rules, and what had happened since a hurricane caused a delay and lengthy layover on my flight. Thankfully, I am working now, but I wished I never had attend this school. This school only put me further in debt and now I can't even attend the school I want.Reika Chan

I attended 9-11 years ago, so hopefully this has changed. The school psychology program was weirdly punitive. They shamed people for not knowing things like how to dress professionally instead of giving them concrete advice for what they expected. (This is classist.) They required us to be over-the-top obedient to professors and supervisors, even if they were doing something unethical. Meanwhile, they taught how kids do better with a strengths-based approach in which they are listened to. This is true and does not stop when a person turns 18. The professors make students retake classes and redo practicum hours for disagreeing or expressing concern. So students have to pay extra money to learn to suppress their critical thinking. They encourage students to think about "best practices" in their first year practicum. But in the second year their response to problems at practicum sites is "that's just how it is". I was discouraged to get involved with anything "political" like the teachers' strike and campaign to replace campus police officers with counselors because "no one will want to hire you". Their answer to disparities between wealthy suburban districts and underfunded districts like Chicago's was "don't work at CPS if you don't like it". 0/10 Do not recommend.Erin Rusmi

From the Counseling Psychology program perspective, my experience have been exceptional! From the knowledge of the professors to the structured placement process and classroom agendas, I love it! It has been a life changer for me, considering what I’ve learned during my 2 1/2 years here. The instructors are very knowledgeable and have experience on the subjects they’re teaching. You are provided a professional development coach to help maintain stability in classes and graduate on time. Someone is always there to answer questions or help in ways they can. All staff is professional and lead towards the process of your professional development as well . Classes are flexible and class sizes are comfortable ( max 15 students unless blended). As a employee of Rush hospital environmental services department I worked here and dedicated myself to fulfilling my job duties to my greatest ability and because of that I was over work and assigned to work all over the Professional building sometimes a different area/floor each day even assigned to two jobs in one shift but because of my willingness to get the job done and the skills that I have to perform any assignment given by management in this department. I never complain because I personally remember not having a job and I really appreciated being employed and helping those in the hospital that needed a clean hospital bed and room and bathroom while trying to get better and the doctors that want their office cleaned and the floors mopped and trash can emptied for when they come into their office in morning. I was terminated due to accusations of having Covid-19 and I was escorted out of the the hospital during my shift by security and management without anything in writing regarding why I’m being escorted out of the building during my shift and my I.d badge removed and taken from me without no union member being present on my behalf or even to witness the situation. I was never given the chance to return to work. I passed the mandatory temperature checks when entering the building and I did not report being sick or having symptoms. I would’ve called in sick or took time away from work. I had fmla and could have taken time off if needed. I was wrongfully escorted out the building and never given the opportunity to return back to work. As of today I am without a job that I been at working for 4 years with no complaints ever about my performance. My history of working on all 11 floors inside the professional building reflects my hard work ethic. No other employee in my department during my 4 years with Rush was utilized like me because they were not capable of getting the work done. My job was wrongfully taken away from me after being a awesome employee to a company that doesn’t value their workers if you aren’t a doctor bringing in millions of dollars from surgeries. I worked in what’s considered the lowest and most looked down upon position in the hospital and that is why this entire situation could even happen.TW

If you decide to go to the E.R. at RUSH… Be prepared to stay in the waiting area for a good ten hours!!! Yes! Ten hours!!! Speaking with patients that have been in the waiting room for 14-15 hours to get called into a room.. We need legislation passed to protect patients. Hospitals should face fines or some type of disciplinary action when they keep patients waiting for so long.. Just like airlines! Waiting rooms are extremely congested. They need a better system to deal with the amount of patients they deal with. If you go in with a sprain, hurt or heart issues… you have a HIGH probability of going home with some type of virus! Waiting rooms are NOT being sanitized. Doors etc not being sanitized. Bathrooms not sanitized enough! RUSH instead of wasting so much money in commercials talking about being state of the art… Act like you are state of the art!!! You are labeled as state of the art NOT a third world country!!! UPDATE Response to RUSH's response. Complete LIES!!! A patient waiting made a comment/question to a nurse. He asked if being a good liar was part of her job. He told her he had been there since 9 a.m. Wednesday. It was 1 a.m. Thursday when he was asking/commenting. She actually laughed and commented that at times believe it or it was part of her job to lie. RUSH needs to open up a bigger E.R. The government gave a lot of aid to hospitals. They need to be held ACCOUNTABLE for taxpayers money!!!Be Light

HORRIBLE NURSES ! NEGLECTED WHILE PREGNANT! I had the worst treatment in the ER while being pregnant I was waiting for hours upon hours to get a room while I was vomiting and very dizzy they had me in the waiting room for about 4 hours after I was in the emergency room for 2 days because I bed didn’t open up for me while those days happened the nurses were the worst they were rough and neglectful to when I was in pain I was crying sobbing because they didn’t put an iv in right I had the IV done 13 times!!! 13 times they couldn’t get it in right to the pint where they just gave up and didn’t give me an IV I was left without food for long long periods of time and when I asked for options they told me it wasn’t a restaurant in which I was in shock from that nurses response I never went back after and never will worst hospital ever they’re a joke I will not trust my baby in their hands compared to Uic I’ve had the best treatment ever there very attentive and gentle with me and babyMelisa Roman
