And as you can see most reviews are "google user" so I wouldn't be surprise if the staff is actually rating the school themselves, but this school is horrible. The staff is rude, unprofessional, and could care less about the overall wellbeing of the students as long as you pay tuition. The campus police are nonexistent they partake in activities I'm almost positive should not be happening. One of my friends was assaulted and the swept the case under the rug, never filed documents, and never followed up with the case. The financial aid staff takes money from out-of-state students and applies it to in-state students accounts (ie. workstudy, loans, etc.) because that is 90% of their student population. The department staff never answer phones, emails, and their office hours are false advertisement. The bursars office has lost money and payments sent to them and their reply is "sorry" followed by never answering the phones again. They have personally lost housing payments of mine 2 years straight which resulted in me losing housing and or paying double. This school almost lost its accreditation and really they should have because half of the students don't go to class but the professors past them anyway because of their "friendships." This is by far one of the biggest mistakes and bad choices I have ever made in my life. Had I known the undermining and the unprofessionalism this school advocates I would have never committed to it. I have been here since my freshman year and due to their "credit equivalency" scheme I could not transfer. The tuition is definitely not worth the education you are paying for. The professors are more concerned with being "cool" then actually teaching and the administration staff is more concerned with being paid then actually helping the student body. I hate the school after graduating I never will return (Now I understand why Oprah didn't), I hate the staff, and the president has yet to follow up the duties of Dr. Shields who I believe made the biggest changes now TSU is back where it started from since her departure. I graduated here back in Fall 2017 with my BBA in Accounting. It's a rocky road dealing with staff; even during slow times outside of registration. I used to work in the college system, so I understand the workflow of how I am supposed to handle being a student (which offices to go to for help, who to ask help from, keeping track of specific documents I need to turn in, etc.). However, it was difficult to get help when needed. Some staff can be very rude and unhelpful if they ever answered their phone/email. I would also go to the main campus offices to try to talk to someone, and there were several occurrences where offices would be randomly closed without putting it in their voicemail or webpage. This is not helpful when you work full-time and have to take off work to go to campus. Aside from the nightmarish organization of student services, this is a really great university! Most of my professors were very passionate about their teaching, and actually showed willingness to help you if you are struggling or congratulate you if you are doing well. Going into upper-level accounting courses were tough, but rewarding, and I felt like the professors and classmates were there to support me all the way. What's also great about this university is how affordable it is. I managed to graduate here with no student loans. It's hard, but doable. I also appreciate the accreditation is the same as other local large universities. So if you are looking for an affordable and good university, check out TSU. Currently attending this school and I do not like it one bit. This school is full of some of the most racially bitter people I've ever met. On more than one occasion I've listened to discussions that include how all whites are such bad people and how cop killing to them is a good thing? I don't know what kind of stuff they're smoking but obviously it's screwing with their brains! Last semester I had 3 teachers so absorbed in politics in their class that I could hardly see through their BS to actually learn anything. I don't know why but the teachers can't seem to stop preaching how right their political party is over everyone else's. God forbid your opinions differs then you get alienated in class as the gun nut or extremist for saying something like "I don't like the President" I've actually been called racist for stating my opinion on how I don't agree with the President's policies. Funny thing is I'm not even white I'm a light skinned Hispanic but to them it doesn't matter I'm a white racist to them. So yeah this school is not welcoming at all It's sad to say this but if you're Republican you don't belong and if you're not willing to have other people's politics shoved down your throat then don't go here. School is for learning, it's not for having other people's beliefs shoved down your throat we all have different opinions and beliefs and this school fails to understand that. The 1-star is mostly due to the admin. I visited the Midtown location. Days prior to my visit, I asked if I could get the preregistration link. When I did not get it, I called at 7:30a on the day of my appointment. I asked again at 8:45a. They didn't send the link until 10:05a (while I was driving), and my appointment was at 10:20. What took them so long? Once there, I spoke with 3 front-desk persons, and they all looked mad. They did not want to be there. The practitioner was very nice. But the whole thing was a waste of time. My problem is swollen, stiff knees. I was told that nothing could be done. I was a bit shocked. They didn't even offer any kind of injections, which I've heard about. I will definitely be going somewhere else. Another facility, years ago, suggested that I consider injections. Guess I should have gone back there to begin with. I wish I could get back my $45 co-pay.jdstep97

I broke my tibia and fibula at midnight a few days before Christmas and had to be taken to St. Thomas for emergency surgery. Dr. Martin completed my surgery and has been my doctor through post-op and recovery. From my first meeting with Dr. Martin at the ER she has been nothing but kind, thorough and generous with her time. She worked my surgery into an already busy schedule so I wouldn't have to wait in pain and kept close communication with me and my spouse throughout my entire hospital stay. Since then, she's been incredibly helpful at follow-ups (not to mention, she has never once been late for an appointment! Never had a doctor do that before!) and has made what's been a difficult injury much easier to deal with. Her entire staff is wonderful, too — PA Amy in particular! My son had a rare knee break at his middle school age. We immediately got an appointment with Dr. Moore. The staff is very good about getting you in, especially if it’s an emergency situation! Dr. Moore is a PHENOMENAL orthopedic doctor and sees pediatric patients as well! I felt very confident in his decisions he made with our son. My son liked Dr. Moore and that means a lot too! He’s very caring and LISTENS to my son. My husband and I were so impressed with Dr. Moore, we also started going to him. The nurses and staff are very friendly and helpful also. The agent that handled my account in Davidson County is not a very good agent. He charged me for 2 mos. Ins. And i had not even closed on the house yet. I was to get 10% discount and said it would come off my truck. Instead he raised it the premium up $10.00. He was told twice by me and financial company to fax the policy to finance co. and finance co. Called me next day and said she had not received policy. It's not like he had anyone waiting on Jim when I left that day. Just employees was there. The office in Hickman County are super nice and efficient. I called on Monday, January 8th at business opening to request insurance quotes for both home and auto. I gave all of my information including going outside to my car to get the VIN number. I requested a quote that day if possible and was told that someone would be in touch later that day. Today is January 17th and my phone has never rang! Vanderbuilt Breast Center failed to screen me for a recent Covid vaccination, which at this point is a known cause for lymph node inflammation that causes false positives and ultimately increased anxiety along with the need for costly follow up testing. I get routine breast MRIs and mammograms due to family Hx of breast cancer as well as a genetic mutation. This facility not only failed to properly do my screening, but also made mistakes in my medical record (documented the Covid vaccination date wrong by one year!). After I found out that I should have been screened for a recent Covid vaccination/booster, I called the facility and requested a call back to discuss my concern over the inflammation in my lymph nodes. I was contacted by Dr. Reagan R. Leverett, section chief, who was extremely arrogant and condescending towards me and failed to acknowledge the mistakes made by herself and her team. Due to their poor performance, I feel compelled to warn people to stay away from this facility. My husband and I both contacted Patient Relations to seek support around this issue and unfortunately have been ignored. It is clear that I put my trust in the hands of the wrong people. Dr. Higdon and his team are wonderful. I went to him after experiencing a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction following a breast cancer diagnosis. I had already had 3 surgeries performed by a plastic surgeon in Indiana that had not gone well. When I first called the office, the admin person was so compassionate and understanding while I explained the failed attempts at reconstruction thus far. My initial meeting with Dr. Higdon was very reassuring. He took the time to just talk to me and he listened to what I had already been through. He provided more options that had not been presented to me before. Surgery was scheduled for 12/2018 and the results have been amazing. He was able to repair mistakes by the previous plastic surgeon and also did fat grafting and injections in my scars so that they would not be so prominent. The difference in the previous surgeries and this last one are night and day. At my 6 weeks follow up appointment I was even given stretches and exercises to do—-that was a first. I am so thankful that I was able to find Dr. Higdon and his practice.Esther Driggs

After the negligible treatment I received from Blanchfield Hospital on Fort Campbell and the nonchalant treatment I received from Tennessee Oncology, it was so refreshing to be seen by a team of cancer doctors at Vanderbilt who seemed to really care about me and respect my decision not to have chemo or radiation. They did not dismiss me as if I have chosen to die but was willing to work with me and suggest and advise me of what is available. They even educated me on the pros and cons of my decision and supported me with valuable information to support my holistic approach. The cancer removal surgery was done so well and painlessly that I was healed in 2 weeks and did not have to use drugs except for the antibiotic. This place is awesome! Being a Chiari decompression survivor since 2009, I've had a TON of MRIs in Spring Hill, Cool Springs, 100 Oaks, and many places around Nashville. This is the place I prefer to be whenever a doc wants to do yet another MRI. The staff is pleasant and makes it a welcoming environment. They give you headphones to drown out the awful noises from the MRI machines and you get to choose your own music. The waiting lobby inside the imaging center has comfy chairs, magazines, and a tv. My husband told me about this place after he had to do an MRI on his shoulder. I'm so glad I gave them a call!ctrygrl3

I am very claustrophobic and I was very anxious for my MRI at Vanderbilt Imaging at 100 Oaks. When I got there I was trembling but thank goodness I got the rock star of Imaging technologists, Jason😊 He was so supportive and was able to put me through the tube feet first and even gave me a cloth to cover my eyes. I currently attend classes at the Livingston and Cookeville campus. This is my 4th semester and for the most part absolutely love it. I have professors that whole heartedly teach and give the best advice to see you succeed in your courses. Livingston campus is my favorite mainly because it's a small school and staff is extremely friendly. Brian and Sandra always have welcoming smiles at the front desk and are extremely helpful. Lisa officer in student services goes above and beyond to help with financial aid and answer all questions one might have. There is also open computer labs, library , and a learning commons where Mr Terry or Mr. Pryor is more than happy to help assist with math homework. An absolutely amazing school with a ton of talented professors who care about their students. Hardly ever did I have a professor I didn't love. It's a small campus filled with a lot of heart. However, because this is a community college, there isn't much of a sense of community within the student body. People often times just come to school and go on their merry way. Thankfully, it isn't too hard to make your own community there. The classes are are set at reasonable prices with decent financial aid availible. My wife has enrolled in the Cyber defense course. I am a Cloud Security Automation Engineer professionally. The Cengage platform they use in the networking class is terrible. My wife has received multiple zeros for incomplete work due to it. I have seen her refresh the virtual machine for hours in an attempt to do one network scan only for it to fail in the end. When she asked for help none was given. This review will get better once you do better for your students. Audit Students Beware: The university created a 'school' email address for me without notifying me and sent all e-bills to this account, which I had no access to. By the time they notified me on my personal email of semester fees and tuition, I had accrued 140% in interest and late fees, despite having called Student Accounts at the beginning of the semester to confirm no outstanding fees or tuition existed. Pam in Student Accounts refused to even respond to me when I requested proof of when and how the university allegedly notified me about the email address they had created. Unethical and shockingly callous customer service – and incredibly steep fees that I could have avoided altogether had they properly communicated with me. I was financially punished for their amateur operations, and forced to pay late fees on the threat of being sent to a debt collection agency. I can only express my disgust at a system that cares more about their financial gain than the ethical treatment of their students.Ang Pearl

The campus is absolutely stunning. The education is top notch and the students are kind and friendly. Since it’s a bit liberal arts it allows you to major in non premed but still go into science. Usually you can find paid research done at the medical center. I would say the only downside is that it tends to lean very liberal in its teachings. They don’t represent conservative ideology well and when conservative viewpoints are expressed they will shut them down in class. That’s a common thing that has been occurring in universities across the country so I won’t hold it against them.N

Best university in the nation. "Harvard of the South" is a discredit to Vanderbilt by association with a lower tier institution. Fantastic faculty and classes are a hallmark of all its schools with great student:teacher ratios and quality, industry leading professors. Trust me when I tell you the Urgent Care facility at TOA in downtown Nashville is phenomenal. I showed up at 8:50 a.m., told them I'd messed up my knee and ankle, signed in, and within 3 minutes I was in X-Ray. Less than 2 minutes later, I was in an examining room and Dana Duff, a Physician Assistant, was in there looking at my X-Ray and discussing what was going on with me–little arthritis, little cartilage loss, little "getting older," etc. His recommendation was up to me: either a cortisone shot or an MRI. I opted for the shot and he said, "Good choice–if this doesn't work in a week or two, come on back and we'll do an MRI." He gave me the shot, wished me a happy 4th of July, and I was back in the truck headed home IN LESS THAN 20 MINUTES!!! Never been as impressed with a facility OR a medical professional as I was with TOA Urgent Care or Dana Duff.Don Gillette

My husband was seen today for ongoing pain issues and his x-ray tech was incredibly rude to him. She was talking to another coworker while she was taking my husbands X-ray so he zoned out, then she yelled at him to move his wrist and yanked it around. I will say that they were lightning fast to get us seen and out the door before the appointment technically started. Dr Siegel was nice, however, was not thorough with my husbands concerns and was demeaning in saying “well you can get an mri for peace of mind but there’s nothing it’s going to tell me that I don’t already know…” I don’t think that’s proper treatment. My husband left feeling uncared for and upset. Thanks for nothing I guess. It’s sad when you go to a specialist but they seem basic.Ashley Jensen

My surgery was great but the billing department is not so great. I was told my out of pocket would one amount and to leave a %50 deposit down but I received a bill DOUBLE THE AMOUNT. I am not happy with the miscommunication, wrong information being told to me and being told ''there is nothing they can do about the wrong information I was given and I still have to pay. I work in the medical as well and I know if there is a mistake on billing/ miscommunication or wrong information given to patient, we can and would eat those charges to make the patient happy. Especially being told the wrong amount by the finance department. So I am STUCK with a 1300.00 bill! NOT HAPPY! I will NOT recommend TOA because of the billing department!Tarmarra Miller

As a person who has been out of school for years; being a wife and mother of two school age children, schools now a days aren’t very work and life balance friendly! I just recently moved and researching other dental assisting schools DON’T compare to Excel by any means. The small class setting, the personal one on one learning and teaching styles at Excel are PERFECT for anyone who may be in my shoes. Entering the class, I doubted myself, but after one class, I realized that I could achieve my dream that I set out years ago! The teaching instructions and teaching style from the instructor is amazing and very personable. The teaching and learning style that is presented is for all different walks of life and all learning styles! The hands on experience is one in a million! The tuition, especially for someone who is on a budget, is very affordable and the best in the state! Excel is the best dental assisting location and I am glad that I made a great decision that is my lasting career for me and my family! I took the local anesthetic course with Dr. Woods. Dr. Woods is an amazing instructor who is knowledgeable and caring about the information and students. I was nervous about learning the material and doing the injections, but Dr. Woods thoroughly prepared me in class and clinically. I 100% know and understand the materials as well as have the confidence to give injections. My class was small; only 2 students. I’m going to take the nitrous and laser courses here as well. 10/10!J.
