Compare with ESL in Maryland, English online in Maryland 3 hours, the teacher in Maryland is wonderful and quality. But this school here is not good about teach quality. That is really bored & lose time for in the future. Teacher doesn’t care about the students, Teachers have no responsibility to students . Time teach is very short, special study online about 30 Minutes often, students person in person- 1 hour just study in app Burlingtonenglish, 1 hour do theirself by Burlingtonenglish at computer. No speaking, no listening, no reading, no other homework, no fix pronunciation even students speak wrong word. Finish class no test english, the class mix good english students with other low english students. I have been a student at SKYCTC since summer 2015 and I will receive my AA in the Spring 2017 and then transfer to another college to receive my Bachelors and then Masters. I have had the BEST experience attending this school. I am also a student worker and have had great opportunities with my job. The class sizes are smaller which make for better relationships with your professors, and there is all kind of resources available to students. She had a terrible attitude when all I showed was respect. I paid over $480 to this bookstore, all I got was disrespect and inconvenience. I graduated in the Summer of 2018, and I wanted to say overall my experience with OCTC had been good and not very much complaint, but I do have to say that I do not appreciate the way they shipped my AA diploma, and I know others have complained about this too. They shipped it in a flimsy envelope as if the achievement didn't deserve a better way of shipping. The certificate was crinkled on the edges and was bent down the middle. Overall I was able to flatten it out and frame it and was okay, but the lack of respect to graduates on this is kind of sad on OCTC's part. Future reference please do not treat your graduates this way. I wouldn't mind having a new one reshipped to me properly this time, and if I do get one then I will give OCTC a better rating. I attended Sullivan for their culinary arts program and I have some insight for future students going into the program. First being, have an idea for what you're wanting to achieve in life. Culinary school is very expensive for what you get and there are other, more cost efficient ways to achieve your goals. I recommend working in the industry for at least two years before you decide to go to culinary school. You will find a lot of well-known chefs didn't graduate culinary school. Everything you are learning in school can be self taught or learned in the industry.The key to becoming a great chef is the understanding of the industry. I say this all because at Sullivan its just a matter of time before you're screwed over by financial aid. The entire department is very disorganized. Important papers of mine seemed to keep going missing in their hands making my life very stressful. Also if you plan on doing on campus housing just DON'T. I haven't had any problems with Sullivan. I have been here for about 6 months and after attending JCC and UofL I must say Sullivan has already given me a much better experience. JCC and UofL let me (at 18) pick a bunch of random classes that were way too hard and never got back to me about any issues, it took way too long to get in touch with anyone for meetings or questions and at Sullivan they are always a quick phone call or office visit away. Teachers seem to really care and take the time to call you on their off time to congratulate you on good test scores, inquire why you are missing class, or pull you aside in class if you are on the brink or failing or even on the brink of getting an "A". If you don't miss a lot of class there won't be any problems, and there are even students in my classes who are active duty and miss class a lot and teachers have been as accommodating as possible. I can honestly say that transferring to Sullivan University from the University of Louisville was one of the best decisions I ever made. Class sizes are small, so it's easy to ask questions and get help if you need it. The instructor's here aren't just trying to "push you through", they actually care that you learn the material. The food served in the cafeteria is great and all of the staff/personnel are super helpful and friendly. My only complaint however would be the financial planning office. Some of the advisers can be kind of rude and you have to constantly call/send e-mails just to get a response for an appointment, in my experience. It's best to just show-up in person and request a meeting. Other than that, I would highly recommend Sullivan University to potential students.Brea M

If you're looking for an education in the medical technologies field this is the place! It is a private college so prices will be a little higher than a university but you get what you pay for. I'm not sure the reason for the negative reviews. It is an accelerated study program on the quarter system and they have a zero tolerance absence policy which may have caused problems for some. My experience has been quite amazing! The student to teacher ratio is lower than you'll find anywhere. All of the instructors and staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. They'll almost bend over backwards to make sure you have every tool and opportunity you need to be successful. Also I have to mention the job placement rate they have after graduation. In the field I'm studying it is a 100% employment rate. The lowest placement among the fields is around 95%. You really can't beat that!Philip Sewell

Look, this school like all other schools of higher education, has issues, and those issues are being worked out, worked out for the good of the school, which in turn benefits the students. You go to school to get a higher education, not to party. Working in the medical profession, you need to have your game face on not your clown face. The medical profession is no joke, this is serious, your dealing with peoples lives. This school does everything it can to get you prepared to handle the seriousness that comes with this profession, they even go as far as to help you help you find employment. The nursing program is unorganized and they just want your money. The dean is no help and is always on the side of the professors. Sometimes we don’t have any direction. Class times were all over the place. They don’t unlock blackboard until the Monday that classes start which makes it hard to plan your life. They tell us stuff last minute and expect us to comply. Months into the program they just now tell us we need to have updated immunization forms when they we’re supposed to keep track of them in the beginning. Do not waste your money. Love the small classes! & The Instructors are by far the most involved with every student and are dedicated to them as well. Very passionate in their teaching. I absolutely loved this school. I graduated in 2017 for Dental Assisting and I am now enrolled for the LPN July classes. The staff went over and beyond to accommodate me. I am extremely excited about my new journey. Update Alert!!!!!! If I could give 10 stars I would. Of course with any school you have a few bumps along the way, but I must say the Nursing experience has been amazing. The accountability and educational standards were are amazing. The instructors have taken their time to be sure that you understand what each class is about . Having teachers who are actively working in the nursing field, working in the School and going to school themselves gives you the push to never give up. I have 7 weeks till completion. It was not easy, financially nor mentally with 4 children and going through divorce, but when you walk in those doors you understand that you can accomplish ANYTHING because of the role models standing in front of you. Fast and easy. Very helpful, friendly staff. However it was a pain trying to get them sent to my Dr. They said they sent by email but Dr never received. Called them and they said they were sending them by fax, again the Dr never got it. Again I called and set it up to pick them up myself and the Dr actually received them then. Considering there was a STAT order on it with the drs number, it's kinda ridiculous it took almost 3 weeks for the Dr to receive anything. Next time I think I'll go somewhere else. My appointment was yesterday July 20 I had three different things to be seen for. Mammogram, X-ray and bone density scan. The Technician that did the mammogram was very gentle and talked me through everything that needed to be done. The Technician that did the x-ray and bone density was super nice. Very professional in every way. He had to move me in several different ways to get a perfect picture and explained why he had to move me this way and that way. I felt very comfortable here. I declined a cortisone injection and was only mentioned of manipulation so on 6/7 that was performed. Went in for follow up today 6/17 for him to not even remember when my procedure was done(a week ago) and then he told me I needed surgery to repair but I refused which I did not and he argued about that with me. Said my range of motion was ok( its no better than it was before the procedure) and when my husband told him I'm in more pain, he just had a blank stare on his face and didn't respond. Why would I decline surgery when it wasn't even presented to me as an option. I do not appreciate being told I said something when in fact I didn't and why would I decline fixing my shoulder when I'm the one that went to the dr to begin with. I will not be returning to Louisville orthopedics again. I have an appt on 6/22 with a surgeon at a different practice to in fact get my shoulder fixed the proper way that should have been done in the first place and I will not recommend anyone waste your money or time at this facility that obviously doesn't care about their patients.Kelley Vires

Worst office staff ever! The billing department is ridiculous! They always say I owe bills from a year prior and can’t explain why then they won’t see me until it’s paid. I paid a past due balance and a lady who said her name was Jennifer double charged me and even had entered the wrong coin amount (I paid over the phone) told me the first payment didn’t go through. Well it charged me twice. I kept calling asking for a refund on the second charge and they kept saying they will send it “up to the manager” I never heard back. I had to dispute the charge At my bank, get a new debit card # and everything . Then they sent me to collections over the same charge they duplicated ! I have shown statements and proof of payment and now am having to fight with the collection agency to show proof! I switched doctors . I never seen the actual MD anyways even when I was going to schedule surgery they never let me see MY DOCTOR line they used to! I highly recommend Dr Brandon McClure and his staff At Baptist Health! I see Kate Hamilton and I love her but something has changed about the office staff/management somewhere. Being on hold an hour to make an appointment. This morning I woke up to $600 being taken from my bank account with no warning. I checked my insurance it wasnt billed and I haven't been billed either. I called the office and pushed "4" to reach billing. After holding and being disconnected twice I finally spoke with a lady that said they no longer do their billing. I asked why the phone line still came to them and she had no answer. I called the office again and I was put through to recorders of people in billing. Paige who was the person i supposedly needed to speak to had her voicemail stating to leave her a message if i had questions on a surgery estimate but if i had questions on billing to call another number. I called back and was put on hold repeatedly. And a person named Kathy thinks she knows how to muffle a phone while she spoke to the office manager Melissa, making snarky remarks and mocking my request to speak to a live person until Melissa finally decided to take the call and "give me the call I'll tell her". I currently am enrolled in sullivan university. The classes and courses are amazing, the plans they offer for taking classes and paying for school is amazing and truly helpful. However, I believe that everyone that works in the Lexington Facility that I attend needs a refresher on a non-discrimination course. The professor's there made snotty remarks regarding my mental health and disabilities, (i.e: 'well how are you going to work in the health care filed if you cant even go to campus?") The only reason I am not on campus is because they made a fuss about me requesting the use of my service dog on campus, not to mention that most of my classes are mainly online so theres no need for me to be on campus, they've also made offhand comments about me being unable to do these jobs due to my mental health, overall being very rude. The professors and housing managers refuse to use my preferred pronouns, as well as make comments about me not being a "real man." All was fine to get my daughter in the school/program then as the semesters went by things became worse and worse when it came to help with the Financial office. The bookstore is not convenient at all for students who have night & weekend classes. The person responsible for helping plan my daughters final semester did not give her enough hours, no one bothered to inform her she trusted the schedule she was given because this was the persons job, now they are trying to say we owe $1,000.00 more dollars because she didn't take enough hours to have her scholarship???? I have called, was told they straightened it out and would give her a grant/write it off, YET when she went to get her certificate they said we owed money and no one knew anything about the grant so they will not let her have her certificate of completion?? So easy to get along with and made learning light hearted. Bethany helped enroll me and she’s very sweet and thorough in explaining everything. Medquest college is a very welcoming place. From the moment I stepped in the doors I was welcomed with smiling faces and open arms. I was unsure about how the enrollment process worked due to never attending college in the past. The staff here at Medquest college walked me through every step and answered any questions I had. They were very informative throughout the entire process of enrollment and during my meeting with financial aid. I enrolled late so I started about two weeks behind my class, with plenty of makeup work to do on top of current homework, my instructors gave me ample time to turn the work in for a grade. The instructors are very encouraging and uplifting. They will help you learn and whatever way works best for you if you do not grasp their teaching methods. I’m currently enrolled here. I waited to post my review because I wanted to get a feel of it first. Our first term finals are this week, and the first term for Dental Assisting has been beyond my expectations. I didn’t think class would be as hands on as it is, and I REALLY didn’t expect the class to be so open to and for each other. We really do communicate with each other and we’ve made some really good friends. There’s always laughter and it’s super worth it. And the teachers and curriculum sure keep you on your toes. For the past 3 and a half weeks i have been running in circles with this place, one star is overrating this college. i have went to 7 different people saying they cannot resolve my issue only to result in me going in person to speak with the dean and she had even told me that the issue was out of her control, (doesn't really sound right considering she is the dean of academics) they claim that their system online was up and working the previous week before school started but many students were having the same situation i was having to pay for their tuition. i did not need to set up a payment plan i do not have financial aid i was ready at any moment to pay for my tuition in full but again they claim that the situation was my fault. i did not miss any of my classes because they gave me the impression that i was going to be re added to them but unfortunately i wasn't, on that note i have experienced each semester with great teachers rarely did i not enjoy coming to class, honestly if you're looking for a community college just to save money and take your general education classes do not go here you will have more problems than anythingJacob Ace

The School is awful. There is no other way to describe it. It's a shame because they actually have some thoughtful Professors there who give a damn. It's the rest of the school that's terrible. The staff is clueless. I can't tell you the number of times this school has misplaced paperwork or said they notified someone via email but never sent anything or an adviser has failed to follow through. Every time this happens, the student has to go back and clean up the mess. The only thing they are guaranteed to follow up on is BILLING so they can get paid. This school is just in the business of running students through. Outside of a few good professors, the rest of the school doesn't care about the students at all. Check their graduation rate – it's something like 15%! And transfers to other schools do not explain that figure….. They just go through the motions to try to get a minimal amount of financial aid possible. Other than that, this is the We Don't Care School. I'm only giving this college a one star because I can't give it zero. I have had the worst experience ever trying to attend college at this campus. From the school not verifying my student loan in time for classes to them dropping me from every class I was enrolled in. The money from the student loan has already been dispersed to the college, but now I have to go through the process of re-enrolling according to them. Classes have been going on for three weeks now, and I've attended each day they were held. Now I will miss tests in my MT 150 class thanks to the college. It's ridiculous that a college that is supposed to help their students is so negligent. They don't help at all, even when you call them. One person will tell you one story and then the next time you call they will tell you something else. Their phones don't even connect to the campus but go to an offsite location where no one can actually be of any assistance. I would rather attend Ivy Tech or Galen for my nursing degree. I tried signing up for college through ECTC before and they were horrible. They didn't help me understand anything, they didn't ask how I'd like my classes or anything. With Somerset, I have been given help since day 1. I never attended at ECTC because I didn't know what to do or how to do classes online. Every staff at this school is helpful and they work with you. They make sure you understand your entire path and know what your next steps are. They help you learn how to navigate the entire website and how to take your classes. They are very helpful and I'm going into my second semester right now. In my experience, the majority of teachers were very unambitious. The one that had any amount of passion for his subject was extremely bigoted in his opinions and belief – the sort of man that can't compliment one thing without insulting another. One of the professors even went so far as to miscalculate the final grade for the course – this is the same IT teacher that ran a Blackboard jumbled with repeated grade listings and still maintained assignment listings from several years ago. Their test questions were almost entirely ripped from online study guides, but with purposefully altered wordings so as to make it hard to distinguish the question being posed. One would assume an IT professor would be more capable in utilizing technology than that. This is the quality one can expect from ECTC's professors, in my experience. This is an amazing school. I am currently taking the Automotive Technology program and I have Mr. Poteet as my instructor. All of the automotive instructors are amazing as well. However, Mr. Poteet has taught me a ton. I went into this semester not knowing a single thing about a car other than it has tires and an engine that makes it drive. Now I know about all of the sensors, how to pull up data on a scan tool and so much more that i just cannot put all into this review. Sadly with all the benefits there is only 1 bad thing i can come up with. That is one of the English teachers, Professor Kennedy. He is very unorganized and just an overall bad indtructor. This minor detail should not outweigh the amazingness of the school. I couldn't ask for more from the instructors. Something I almost forgot was the president of the school. That guy is amazing and knows how to joke around but still get work done. All in all this is an amazing school that I would recommend to anyone looking to start there degree. Based upon Veterans services The college itself is a perfect transition between high school and college or if you are just getting back into school. The veterans service department is one of the worst I have ever had to deal with. I have dealt with them at 2 other universities and never had the issues that I have here. They don’t care about their veterans or helping them succeed. They will tell you to call people they know aren’t in the office (without telling you). They make it as difficult as possible to even speak with someone about their programs. They don’t put out information about veterans events happening on campus until the day of the event. And the coordinators question everything without giving the veteran the benefit of the doubt. The people have job security so their care of the people they are helping is none existent. Review Summary

University of Louisville is where I am doing my PhD. I really love what I do and my supervisor, professor Sharp, is a great person both in research and personally. I learnt a lot from him. I am in mechanical engineering school. They have been spending a lot of money recently to renovate all the instruments in the mechanical workshop. For example they added five new 3d printer for students to play with. Also, they bought 5 new micro cnc machines. There is also one faculty member that teach the students how to safely work with these new devices. For the measurement lab, a couple of new instruments have been purchased that are really awesome. Fluid mechanics lab also has new facilities to explore different aspects of the fluid mechanics concepts. Being a lab TA, I can tell for sure that all the ME students are enjoying the new facilities. They have also been hiring top ranked new faculty members. I know some of them, they are from very top universities and can add to the reputation of the ME department. So if you are thinking about joining the engineering group in University of Louisville, do not hesitate to do that. Good luck with your study and have fun.Mohammad Mohaghegh Faghih

The financial aid department is the worst! I'm not certain if it's just "certain" students (everyone knows that certain means black students….well the ones who don't play sports for the school) who this department gives a difficult time or if they just don't know their jobs in that department. They will tell a student that they need 1 thing to complete their file, and once the student returns the paperwork, they will tell them they still need another document. The student will return that document and then be told that they need another. Instead of giving a student a list of everything that they need to complete their file they will have students jumping through hoops, running back and forth to their office and placing holds on the students account as if the student has done something wrong. University of Louisville, if you want to revamp, start with firing everyone in the financial aid department.Memoir Young

Great professors, I can't think of one that I didn't learn a lot from during my years there. Made a lot of great friends. If you have other options, I would encourage you to consider them before this University, though. The administration is corrupt, you won't have to look too far to find out about the scandals of the University. I hate saying it because I had so many fond memories there, but you can get a quality education elsewhere and avoid contributing to the cash-grab by the University upper administration/athletic programs (Google: UofL and prostitution, read up about it for yourself).R.
