20 Best Psyd Programs In New Orleans, LA (2022 Updated)

First of all I would start off by saying This is a great hospital with SOME great Doctors and Nurses. My son have been in and out for almost 2 years. Staying weeks and months at a time. Monday my son went to surgery where he almost lost his life and while in surgery someone went in his room and stole some of his belongings. Administration and Security tried to make it like we may have lost (1) item “AirPods” I tracked them, it led me to the cafeteria why the cafeteria if my son was in OR (Operating Room) then went straight to ICU 🤔 the alert went off right where I was standing at. Meaning the AirPods are very close to me. Security walked me to the side, I tried to explain to him but he was not listening to one word I was saying. The Head Nurse Bridgette walks in and asked to walk in the kitchen to see if the phone will alert again, well it didn’t because it was about 30-40 minutes later. Now by that time the theif have turned them off. I was getting upset, trying to explain and Bridgette walked off. Security said he didn’t/couldn’t see anything on the camera. Now missing books and AirPods are gone. The next morning the location was disabled because now the theif have left the hospital and disconnected. Yesterday I spoke with Kristin, she seemed nice and they are replacing the AirPods. 🤬 And the investigation is still ongoing!!!!!!!!! Am I satisfied???? Not at all because I will be speaking to other officials out of Children’s Hospital because I already know, they think buying new AirPods will make me feel better. I have never had an experience like this with this Hospital. Thanks To ALL my sons NURSES, THE GI TEAM, THE PELICAN CREW, SURGERY TEAM, INFECTION AND DISEASE TEAM, and the ones I didn’t mention! 👍🏽 You guys are the real MVP’sLee Perrilloux

I’ve been going to Children’s Hospital for about almost a month now, with my niece being there getting treatment, I met this very diligent and helpful officer in your facility His name is Karl Rodriguez. He is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet not to mention he’s very professional when it comes to his job and helping an elderly like me . Every time he sees me getting out my car he run and helps me open my car door and help me get my wheelchair out the back of my car without any hesitation, He always says “Good morning sir , Good afternoon sir how are you doing . “ that’s a good example of a good officer, good company and hoping whoever is the one running the department sees how hard working and dedicated they are especially how this gentleman Karl Rodriguez treat me like his own family or someone very important not to compared to any public safety or police officers I have met . We even have a great conversation a long the way but it just too personally so I just leave it there where we left it . I just hope that you see how this gentleman works and how dedicated he is and he will do anything for the safety of the people there at lcmc . I don’t know how much the pay rate of the officer working there but I do wish lcmc public safety will pay officers the pay they deserves . I’m writing this review because I want them to be recognized . I want the chief of public safety to read this so please hand it to him . We are still here for another week but I can say this. Everyone from the parking garage to the other side of the hospital where we have to be has been exceptional. I have not seen the level of teamwork in a while & last time was UHC@NO. I am forever grateful & thankful for what this hospital has done & continue to do. 6th floor rocks👍👍 Also whomever is the pilot of the Children's Hospital Helicopter awesome flying. Beautiful. Once again the entire staff at this hospital went above and beyond my hopes for my granddaughter. We live almost 3 hrs away,the oral surgeon and the dentist (Dr King&Dr. Fournier) took their time working with their teams here were able do help and get the oral care we had been waiting for a year. I had a AWFUL experience at the imaging center. The tech lady who examined me was rude, and kept asking “why are you here… you shouldn’t be here unless you’re heavily bleeding”. I was there due to cramping and previous miscarriages to ensure baby was ok. And responded “you got a positive pregnancy test, that’s your answer that your pregnant and ok” I followed with “I’m so sorry for wasting your time” I’m quite certain this was the same lady who evaluated one of pregnancies a couple years ago and provided the same level of “NO CARE”. I will NEVER go to the Ochsner Imaging center again. This was the third or forth awful experience and I’m done giving the benefit of doubt. It appears the techs at Ochsner Baptist are unhappy with their careers, and maybe the hospital, and it shows through how they treat patients . SHOCKING!Felicite Jones

I have been coming to Ochsner in New Orleans for more than four years now, and can honestly say that without exception I have been responded to with courtesy, professionalism and good will. I have, in that time , only once waited more than 15 minutes and received an apology for that unavoidable delay. I am impressed with the basically cheerful and thoughtful attitudes of all the staff I have encountered. And this is all in addition to the superb medical care I have received! I had my first appointment today with Dr. Hanson and I wanted to leave a detailed review so that others perhaps suffering the way I was might see this and feel confident in choosing Atlas Psychiatry. I arrived early after enduring a panic attack in traffic on the bridge — I didn’t think I’d make it but I did. It was imperative to me that I make it to him so I fought the panic with everything in me to get there to see him. I was worried that I’d be judged for my state of anxiety upon meeting the doctor but I wasn’t. He welcomed me calmly, he offered me water, which was precisely the energy that I needed. We went over my psychiatric history, family history — all the things necessary for your provider to know so that he can make a detailed assessment of your case. Not one time did I feel judged, ashamed, or embarrassed. Every so often, he would check in and reassure me that I was doing just fine when speaking about very difficult and traumatic things. He was a rock — he was comfort. I have to stress this to you, reader, potential patient because I know how hard it is to find these qualities in a provider. Dr. Hanson truly listened to me — and when you have anxiety, you tend to feel like no one is hearing you or seeing the struggle within you. But he listened, he heard me, and he saw the struggle. He was empathetic. This is a doctor that genuinely cares about you. You are not just another case, or a file. You’re a human and he treats you that way. Midway through the appointment, my panic attack was fading. I felt safe and that is not something I often feel. At the end of the appointment, he assured me again, that we will get me through this and I believe him. I am confident in him and I trust what he has told me. I left feeling relief… I haven’t felt relief in a long time. I picked up my prescriptions immediately and for the first time in months, I can breathe easily. My heart is not pounding out of my chest. I am not shaking, nauseous, or restless. I finally have hope that things really will get better, I will get my life back and I can’t recommend atlas psychiatry enough. These providers are passionate and care about the work they are doing and it is very clear. I know the price point can be a deterrent— don’t let it be. Being in the care of one of these doctors is the best thing you can do for yourself and if you are struggling, it is what you deserve. The best. I was a patient of Dr. Pejic for a few years and spent thousands of dollars on treatment and medication. He was not a good physician to me at all and, in hindsight, I wonder if he's even a good person in general. When I began seeing him, I was in the throes of a crippling addiction and was involved in a very toxic relationship with an abusive person. One of the first things I noticed about him was that Dr. Pejic seemed to be incredibly financially motivated. So much so that he suggested I borrow money from my abuser to pay for his sessions when I couldn't afford them. That in itself was so egregious it should have been enough to make me never return, but I continued going anyway. I think the main reason I continued was because he had me on such a high dose of medication that it completely changed my personality and made me behave in lots of uncharacteristic and unhealthy ways. Overall, he seemed more concerned with making money off of me and showed little to no interest in my care or actually helping in my recovery. I don't know if he was so awful because of his own biases and personal motivations, but the way that I was treated by him was despicable. Luckily, I found another provider after Dr. Pejic that got me on a proper dose of medication and actually showed interest and concern for my well being. I only have my own experience to reference, but I don't think he should even be practicing medicine if he treats other patients the same way he treated me.N G

Update: they charged me $360 for this. Old patient of Pejic's, made an appointment to try and talk to him and get info on getting back on medication. After a two and a half week wait they proceeded to call me 30 min before my appointment and tell me the appointment I made was wrong so they had to cancel it and reschedule and update my info. New rescheduled appointment was a full 3 weeks later while I am in need of medication the entire time. The 3 weeks pass and guess what! They call THE DAY OF the new appointment to tell me the updated info THAT I GAVE THEM 3 WEEKS AGO means Pejic can't see me so they cancel and say I can't be a patient. So after waiting a month and a half on them, I've seen no one, never gotten to talk to Pejic, have no idea what meds I used to take, and don't know who to see. Super cool, very helpful for my mental illness. Edit: I told you where I lived a month before you told me no. Tell me "no" then, don't make me wait a full month to then call me again to tell me no. Great University in New Orleans where you can and will receive a QUALITY EDUCATION. As do most state schools, they’re underfunded, understaffed & seemingly have a high turnover rate; in my opinion. HOWEVER, when it comes to education, they’re #1!!! No spoon feeding, hand holding over here; if you want it, you have to WORK for it. The struggle is REAL. But upon graduation or course A/B level grade course completion, you will know the material FORWARD AND BACKWARDS. Not bashing other universities, but a UNO Degree holds weight; here you get OUT WHAT YOU PUT IN!!!! I pray for more funding; this university is a treasure and need not be lost due to bureaucratic red tape.Teneha B

My son is a music major there – is there a better place to study music than New Orleans? He loves the department and is getting lots of hands-on experience. Ponchartrain Hall is the nicest dorm I have ever seen – a palace compared to the places I lived "back in the day." And it's the least expensive of the state schools – he could be living far from home and paying a LOT more the privilege and not be getting as good an education as he's getting at UNO.John Baur

Run-down school that has little quality in food, living, education, and staff. The expensive cost doesn't garner any neat benifits like other schools. The only saving grace of this university is it's pretty decent film school or engineering program, which would be more beneficial if they were their own independent institutions. Reading all the comments only tell half the story. I've read about bad dorms. Well didn't Howard university just have it's students sleeping outside due to rat infestation and mold? Does spelman have a/c in most of it's dorms yet? Nope not at all. I've read about the school being about money and that financial aid was not very professional. What hbcu isn't? Most all hbcu's biggest gripe is the financial aid office. That's the reason a lot of people transfer to pwis is because of the financial aid process. A lot of the views presented here are misleading to potential applicants. It shine a negative light on Xavier, for the very same issues most hbcu's are facing. That being said. I remember this being the first college I attended. I was the first in my family to go to college so I wasn’t aware of much , but there was staff to help us… Well , this man helped me and we were on a website and he was just telling me everything to click and what to “approve” . Come to find out this man made me accept about 10K in student loans, but for only 1 semester!!! ,Unfortunately this money did not even go toward my classes but to the freshman dorm I lived in ( very dirty ) . My mother worked here & as a child, I roamed the halls being a lookey-lu & even now, I am astounded by the advances of medicine & the medical community. I love the LSUHSC Community at large as they get it & understand the major undertaking of the health & well being of the Greater New Orleans Area; what a some what daunting yet accomplishable task. It was less pricey in my day (the 1966-1970 tuition was $750.00 per semester), but a Tulane degree is still good value. For me, Tulane was a formative experience. I majored in French, and learned valuable skills for later life, including literary criticism, poetry translation, and the French language. I still use my French, now I am retired. I participate in several francophone and francophile organizations in New Orleans. As well, my courses in Theatre and English literature have stood me in good stead. I am now a performance poet, and perform frequently at the Neutral Ground Coffee House and at the Maple Leaf lBar, and other venues in town and in Louisiana.Robert Menuet

Even if you are not interested in attending Tulane University, I strongly recommend visiting it. The tour of the school gives you some knowledge about how the young adults of New Orleans take part in the community and how much of the things you are touring are actually run by students. My family and I were not expecting to actually be considering Tulane for college, but we all fell in love with the campus instantly. The guides were very knowledgable about the school and also about the community of New Orleans. It was nice to hear the perspective of a younger person instead of an adult who grew up in New Orleans about what the best parts of the city are. Everyone was really good except for Dr Jiang. She was very unprofessional, she need to be more compassionate, understanding, and courteous to the patients' family. I chose not to allow them to put a feeding tube in my father because he is still capable and able to eat, she was very unhappy with my decision and retaliated with an unpleasant attitude and refused transportation. I had to go talk to security and and then speak with the nurse to get transportation to come and take my dad down to the car. One bad apple can spoil everything. Some doctors should not be doctors and need a new profession.Carla B

Dr Fields, a graduate from here who is now at Desert Institute for Spine Care in Phoenix AZ. Did he learn anything here besides being a jack? I'm sure he got high marks in the class on how to bill or in my opinion extort patients. The way I calculate it charging me $28/minute (yes a minute) will probably pay off those student loans at a faster clip than I did. No way I can recommend this school if this is what they are turning out. Didn't disclose costs up front & cancelled a procedure the day before procedure. Doesn't return calls. Didn't deliver on assurances given. In my opinion and at least for me the only thing he learned here besides being a good salesman is the number for a collections agency to turn to.Ward Bizzell

UPDATED (many changes since my last review years ago): STCHC is conveniently located in a number of locations around the city. Where I visit, parking is available at the Magazine & Columbia Parc locations. Repeated repairs/filled potholes on lot grounds (at St. Andrew) are appreciated. I've been a client for several years and the reception at both locations (St Andrew & especially at Magazine) have always been polite, efficient and professional. Scheduling is more flexible than in the past. Teleheath is available, convenient and optional. Facility waiting area and restrooms are clean and spacious. Wait time from arrival to services consistently improves. Appointment reminders are still relentless. Yet this is still due to individuals who are frequently late arrivals and/or no shows. So the good continue to suffer for the discourteous –no problem I've adjusted. Medical services remain outstanding. They have an array of new medical exams, specialties, testing and imaging capabilities. Each Doctor and especially Nurse Practitioner, Robin Fouquet, FNP-C (cue loud applause) are consummate professionals, knowledgeable with excellent listening skills which allows me to explain and ask necessary questions. I am SO glad she is on my team. Appointments are never rushed or mechanical. Yet we manage to complete exams within allotted slot with perhaps time to spare. Referrals are easily obtained when warranted, otherwise recommended alternative methods have worked just as well. The Patient Portal remains an utter disappointment. Void of ease regarding nativigation and information provided. I also use the on-site Pharmacy (now on Magazine St.) which communicates by (phone, text and/or email) directly with me rather than me using the Portal. Confirmations of Rx orders are a huge plus. The Pharmacy offers convenient pick-up, home delivery or postal delivery (without the big-box aggravation.) The Pharmacy staff is excellent yet the window staff could use more training with regards to greeting/timely attention/tone. The STCHC Ophthalmology clinic has moved to the St. Andrew location and I could not be happier. Dr. Costello & Julie are THE BEST.) For other specialized services (lab work, etc.) the Columbia Parc site is a timesaver and have only received exemplary care. Finally, I remain eternally grateful & loyal for when I returned to NOLA to assist with the rebuilded, STCHC was open when there was hardly anything else available. This is the first time I’ve experienced such poor treatment from a medical group/facility. I will only say I have crossed paths with some medical staff members that can be extremely unprofessional. (This is me not exposing names) (PCP’s / office staff / Obgyn) After filing an official complaint; I am still being met with inconveniences. I hope St. Thomas Community understands that their medical professionals will never take pride in patient relations until they are held accountable for their actions. I delayed writing this negative review several times hoping that something would improve. I'm still waiting on the improvements. I attempted to reach Dr. Irwin several times but that was a dead end. I would like to know where the cardiology department received their training because they are only staff that displayed kindness and professionalism.Arionna Johns

First of all I had a appointment scheduled for 9 am this morning. And on yesterday evening I received a call that the doctor that I was seeing wouldn't be there. And would I like to see another physician. I said yes that's fine. I was then told that I had to come at 1pm so I agreed because I really needed to see the doctor. So I arrived not even 5mins after 1pm. And was told I would have to be placed on a walk in list because my spot was filled already and that I had to go across the street to wait. The front desk receptionist was very very rude as she asked did I want reschedule my appointment then.I then said no because of the I was treated. I was not told about the policy at all which need to be stated when a appointment is scheduled or changes are made by the clinic.Kirsten Vallery

I had the same experience with Dr. Montegudo as another poster stated. I was seeing her for my ADHD and instead, ended up having to stop my meds after 5 years, cold turkey, because of the way she humiliated and gaslighted me. She was persistent on forcing antidepressants on me instead of treating me for my actual issue. She acted like she knew more than all of my previous doctors then started taking guesses on diagnosis for my problems to be anything but ADHD. When I even agreed to take antidepressants to show her how they caused me to have skin rashes, and how they cleared up once I stopped taking them, she was dismissive of these side effects, brushing it off as coincidence. When asking her to explain herself all I got was "I don't know." She also said that it was "impossible for antidepressants to cause breakouts," yet in the patient's guide for the medication it said to "notify your doctor if skin breaks out in rash." When I confronted her about it she gaslighted me saying she said "it's rare." Yet, still dismissed my side effects by saying, "I'm the one that went to school for medicine." Narcissist, much? This woman doesn't have a clue about ADHD and should not be taking on patients who need medication for it as she is more harmful than helpful. I can't forget to add how much she would roll her eyes while I was trying to speak to her. When I openly disagreed or questioned her false statements she would raise her voice, speak over me, and become argumentative. I'm so glad I have moved on from this place and now have an understanding doctor that doesn't treat me like I am less than. Unfortunately, the keloid scars left on my body from the antidepressants are forever.Angie Marie

This place is amazing. Dr. Jake went above and beyond to make sure his services were available to me and I was aware of any services I could/should utilize. Then sent my prescriptions tob the pharmacy on the 2nd floor where they were ready in under 1 hour. Before going down to the pharmacy I took advantage of the offer to check my labs(Std check, harmone levels,liver levels ect,. The phlebotomist was so skilled and sweet. She found a vain and drew blood with 1 poke, and I don't the easiest veins to hit in the world due to my past. She told me I was hit and asked if I'd been walking in the heat. I confirmed. I then told her I was getting light headed as my blood filled the tubes and she immediately called for another lady and the two of them treated me with such love care and concern. Putting an ice pack on my neck, giving me water, telling me to cross my legs and squeeze the muscles to raise my blood pressure back up. I kept saying that they didn't have to do all that but they assured me they didn't mind, it's clear that every staff member I came into contact with worked there because they want to help people and they like and are good at there jobs. BEWARE, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!! THEY WON'T REFUND MY MONEY FOR AN EXAM THEY DID NOT PROVIDE ME WITH 3 MONTHS AGO!!!! I visited Crescent Care back on November 4th, 2021 to obtain a test. As I am uninsured, I was informed by the (extremely rude) front desk person that the visit would cost $100 including ALL TESTS. I went upstairs to provide my samples and the Doctor told me there would be an additional $450 charge on my card to obtain the results of the exams, which I obviously cannot afford and did not agree to. I was taken back downstairs and spoke with Giovanna Pringle on the phone, she assured me I would receive my money back, that they were having issues with their system, and that the transaction still showed as "pending" on their side (even though it had already been deducted from my account), she said I did not have to worry about it. It's been THREE months now and no one has returned my calls or my money. IT IS CARELESS AND CRIMINAL TO TAKE UNINSURED, LOW-INCOME PEOPLE'S MONEY LIKE THIS. I AM TAKING LEGAL ACTION AND I AM FILING A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH LSU AND THE LOUISIANA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AGAINST CRESCENT CARE, GIOVANNA PRINGLE AND REGINALD VICKS.
