A good school where you get out what you put in. Many trains stop within walking distance and buses as well. Just like any college, depending on your major, you will find good and bad professors. So always make use of the rate my professor website. I had a very pleasant experience. The administration was more competent than other schools I went to and my issues were always solved within a reasonable amount of time. The facilities I had to use for my major were in even better condition compared to some four year schools. The wifi coverage was good. Plenty of cafeterias with the best one being in the E building. Plenty of food trucks with different types of foods. Lots of seating areas with electrical ports. The class scheduling was workable with enough sections to fit almost everyone. Can't speak for any other major but it felt like that overall. They are always hiring new adjuncts so it's not the same professor teaching that one section you need all the time that everyone says is horrible. Always stay on top of your things if you want to have them resolved quickly. That's the part you play in your college years. The hand holding stops after High School. All I can say is, relax a little and have some fun. At the end of the day grades won't show the strength of your character after all is said and done.Mounia B

It seems like professors like the one I got Professor Arnold who acts likes she is going through the motions and don't there . i felt I waste my time and money which I paid out of pocket in her class and is thinking about leaving the college. She is one of the worst teachers/professors i ever had . I think cause it a community college a lot of them are mad cause they can't teach in a four year college through out of the community colleges in NY LaGuardia is the best . That being said she is the third professors that I had that sleeps walks through their class and I had another one that did something that weren't cool and I didn't show up for her class and never got an apology from her. Im currently in my last year at LaGuardia (majoring in business) and i have to say the Business department is full of AMAZING professors. Classes are really easy (most of them except accounting unless you're good at it) and the students are cool. I, personally, never talked to anyone or made any friends because I'm not an outgoing person. The school is constantly going under renovations and they just finished the new library and it looks AMAZING, as if it was a library from an ivy league. Food isn't that great but what do you expect, its school food [not free of course]. The only reason ppl go here and are willing to grossly pay for an education is the location. I went to school here and will say it is far overpriced for the education you are given. Some staff are great and really care about the education they are providing. Others just read off a powerpoint and have no interest except for a paycheck. Pace is expensive, doesn't help the students getting internships and when the students get one on their own, Pace takes the credit. After graduating, the students don't get a job. One of their alumni just got a good job and due to she owes money, they don't give her transcripts and are retaining her title. Is not possible for Pace to help when the students really need help? This is a good school. However, the quality is almost identical to the CUNY school I attended before coming here that costed significantly less. Additionally, the lack of diversity (granted, because of how this is a private school) is also lacking. At one time, the tuition for a full-time evening student was less than that for daytime, which made sense since there was no access to many of the daytime nine-to-five services. I really can’t explain what I went through with the staff, so unprofessional and the attitude is horrible I always try to be as nice as possible but the way they treat people is awful. They literally screamed at my mom who does not speak any English for not having her vaccine card with her although she had picture of the vaccine but her phone was dead they yelled at her and did not try to help her enter the building at all. Once I came and approach them they was talking to me with awful attitude and yelling at me!!!!! although I respect the policy but they always could help in situation like this making everything 10X harder and unprofessional behaviour. One of its kinda school Historic place as it is more than 100 year old school CUNY’S most iconic campus so far As building is quite old, construction is going on still it’s worth taking a walk here Lush green gardens and beautiful library plus awesome walkways and old concert hall and other buildings. If I could, I would easily give York a ZERO RATING! NOTHING against the professors I’ve come across, but the school, policy and registrar/bursar staff and policy are ridiculous. I have been charged, during the pandemic I might add FULL. I clearly withdrew from summer classes and was literally ONE day passed the 100% refund date. After, I spoke continuously with bursar who kept sending me back to registrar. ALL professors assisted in submitting documentation showing I DID NOT CONTINUE in the ONLINE courses. Although I submitted required, and accurate paperwork documenting the WHY I could not complete the summer session, this greedy school is charging me ONE HUNDRED PERCENT for courses that their own records reflect that u withdrew from. Again, let me reiterate this was at the time of a Pandemic. I am now not able to register or do anything until this balance is paid. I think this school is deplorable, too much of the staff is unprofessional and not helpful At all! They’re dismissive and there is never any considerations or flexibility offered. If you can, avoid this school. Majority of the staff are unprofessional, lazy and do not seem to take their job seriously. Imagine emailing your professor and days, or even up to week plus passes by with no response. Some professors to avoid, Darrell Morris- extremely unprofessional acts as if he's paying us to be there and not the other way around. Does not actually teach anything, except the one time he was being evaluated. Does not respond to emails. Never comes on camera. Samuel Olagun- jeez where do I begin. Just do not take him. Overall the school is a nightmare and I am so happy that I have never had to step foot on this campus. They act like they are doing you a favor instead of their jobs. Lovely campus and easily seen from the street. The school is close to public transportation. The campus houses a high school and an elementary school. The grounds can use some work and some more public art installations. The cemetery is gated but plenty of history ardorns the head stones. The indoor exhibit of The Tuskegee Airmen is worth visiting the campus. The stundent art galley is the best. Ask security for accessibility for people with disabilities. Security at the gate will ask of I. D. He is very pleasant and awesome with directions. Most staff/faculty are helpful too. Better to get assistance from the more experienced staff. They are quite knowledgeable. The food is pricey for college life, but the chicken Marsalis, peas & rice, Mac & cheese and green beans with show string beans cut carrots was a tasty pleasant delight. As F-1 visa international student, I would say that ASA College is a great place for our educational and career goals. Professors are responsive and very collaborative as well as helpful. During my education in ASA College I was able to make friends with students from different parts of world. The most of them are my lifetime friends now. Classes are not too big. Therefore, providing a tremendous opportunity to study and excel your knowledge and/or skills. I am starving, housing insecure, financially unstable, and unable to make ot to class or properly study because of financial struggle, inability to be alone a place quiet to study because they won't house, and depression. In the end they want to fail you out so you can pay them fees later, I guarantee. STAY AWAY After signing up to see a psychotherapist at the Seleni Institute and being on a waitlist, the office manager wrote to me in early April to tell me that they could take me off the waitlist. She said that I would see one of their “clinicians,” Ramaa Reddy. At no point did Ms. Reddy ever mention that she was a student intern practicing psychotherapy as part of her studies. I was led to believe that Ms. Reddy was a licensed psychotherapist. During our sessions with Ms. Reddy made me uncomfortable. She pressured me to stop taking my antidepressants, she pressured me to use an online pharmacy named Hers, and she pressured me to change medications. In doing this, Ms. Reddy acted outside the scope of practice a licensed Mental Health Counselor and violated professional ethics. Ms. Reddy did not comport herself as a professional psychotherapist. After several weeks of this behavior, I googled Ms. Reddy and was distressed to find nothing about experience in psychotherapy. A search of the Office of Professions’ database revealed that Ms. Reddy was not listed as having any type of license or permit authorizing her to practice psychotherapy. The insurance claims for our sessions were filed by someone named Dr. Patricia Harteneck, who I have never had any kind of contact with whatsoever. When I wrote to Seleni and called the office to ask for Ms. Reddy’s license number and NPI, the office manager refused to give me the information and forcefully asked me whether something was wrong or if I was unhappy. I was very uncomfortable, but I explained the situation; she offered to pair me with a different therapist. However, I wanted to know whether Ms. Reddy had a license or not. To this, the office manager responded: “Of course, she has a license. Otherwise, that would be highly illegal.” I asked again for Ms. Reddy’s license number and NPI, and she said that she would email me the information. The next day, the office manager wrote to me that Ms. Reddy did not have a license to practice, but that she did have a limited permit as a Mental Health Counselor. I consulted the State’s database again but did not find Ms. Reddy on the list of MHC limited-permit holders. When I told the office manager, she responded that Ms. Reddy did not have a limited permit, but was in fact, was a student enrolled in a Mental Health Counseling “bridge program” at Alfred University and was working at Seleni as a student intern under the supervision of Dr. Harteneck. I asked Seleni to provide documentation of Ms. Reddy’s enrollment in this program, and they said they would provide documentation via email. Seleni has provided no such documentation, although Alfred University confirmed that Ms. Reddy is a student there. This experience has jeopardized my mental health. My trust, privacy, and confidential medical information were violated. No one disclosed to me that Ms. Reddy was a student at any point in time. I never consented to being treated by a student. Ms. Reddy is still working there unethically. The founder of the clinic called to speak with me about the incident and did not offer a refund or any kind of compensation for the harm done by their negligence. She directed me to an online database for therapists and said, “when you use insurance you usually get an inexperienced therapist” and “none of the good ones take insurance.” This is classist and offensive. Seleni’s cavalier and elitist attitude towards fraud and negligence is dangerous. The Seleni Institute is a wealthy woman’s vanity project for the rich and well-heeled. If you are a working person trying to access therapy, expect to be humiliated and abused at Seleni because of your socio-economic status. My insurance company has launched a fraud investigation and I reported the clinic and staff members to the New York State Office of the Professions.Anyuli Gonzalez

After having our first child, I knew I wanted to become a doula. Within my doula studies, I soon realized that providing physical comfort measures was just as important as the emotional aspect. In addition, it was crucial to continue providing that emotional support to all mother’s postpartum. As someone who has personally battled with postpartum anxiety and depression, I learned that advocating for myself was the most important decision I made in recovery. My personal battles and self-discovery gave me the desire to encourage others to learn to advocate for themselves as well. After having our second child, I wanted to dive deeper into my birth and virtual doula services, by providing the best emotional support I could. I was eager to learn about my own mental health and perinatal mental health overall. I came across Seleni Institute and I fell in love with their core values and mission. Seleni invisions “ a world where emotional health is valued just as much as physical health.” The first course I completed was Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders. This online course was broken down into 14 sections with an exam at the end. The lessons include video lectures, notes and case studies. The instructors of this course provided information clearly and used evidence-based skills. The case examples used also enhanced the understanding of my learnings. By the end of the course I was able to see the various ways that the physical, emotional, and social expectations around pregnancy interact and influence the experience of pregnancy and new parenthood. I now feel comfortable being able to utilize the strategies learned to care for mothers, fathers, partners and families. The next course I will dive into is Perinatal Loss and Grief. As someone who has personally experienced loss, I know this course will be both hard and beneficial. My goal has always been to have the knowledge and compassion necessary to provide the best care to my birth and virtual doula clients. Awful. Getting one star because of the lovely doctor who did my initial intake phone call. I don't believe she knows that the person she referred me to basically discouraged me from seeking treatment at Seleni and basically told me just to go to Payne Whitney. Because I inquired about sliding scale? I felt ashamed but later found out from other professionals they have stopped referring women here because of this reason. If you have the money they will help you, otherwise they will not. I read they have a teen program, I wonder if it is limited to wealthy teens. Shame on Seleni for pretending to be otherwise and wasting the time of pregnant women and mothers in need of help. Just say you don't take insurances and you must pay up front and that's all.Donna M
