As a non-traditional student, I found EOU big enough to offer all the classes I needed to complete an Ant/Soc degree, but intimate enough that professors knew me by name and gave me extra assistance with completing my educational goals. I WAS A PERSON AND NOT JUST A STUDENT ID NUMBER. The campus is safe – I had no concerns walking at night, it has plenty of lighted walkways, and parking lots. I attended EOU for three years and really appreciate the school. It's quality professors (most were great with only a few exceptions), small class sizes, and affordable tuition make it one of the best bang for your buck colleges in the country. They also have quality sports programs, tons of resources to help students succeed academically, and even help students find employment when they graduate.Zane Smith

I went to the campus that is located in Beaverton and they are a building off site of the campus but have a Transit center right directly across from the campus making it very convenient for anyone that would like to take that versus driving and paying parking however the parking was free for me that day the campus grounds are very clean and I felt safe by the security and overall feel. there was not a lot of people at all as they are being very very careful with restrictions on covid. I attended a class for testing on the GED and they were very careful to not expose or compromise anyone's health so be prepared and warned now to be current on their covid restrictions and policiesHeather Chick Hawes

It was such a beautiful day I had gone to Sheridan's Market. Which, I have to say, is one of the best places I've found in Portland since moving here 8 years ago. I decided to go and sit under the trees in the Park blocks. I read the first chapter of "The Body Keeps the Score" with the work book. If you know someone or you yourself suffer from PTSD. It is an amazing read and helps so much. Dogs were roaming though the park with their owners. Runners everywhere. Just overall an amazing day.Bradley Renfeldt-King

Graduated from here. If you’re looking to be competitive, def would not recommend the psych BS/BA program unless you’re ready to find off-campus opportunities. The instructors are variable, with limited on-campus opportunities compares to places like OSU/UO/WSU/UW. However, if you’re looking to transfer and complete your coursework and get your degree, this option is fine.Michael Demi

I brought my daughter to Willamette University two weeks ago and was impressed and grateful at the same time. After attending the two day orientation for parents, I feel this is the perfect place for her to blossom. The caring attitude that all the staff showed made me feel secure in her decision to attend school there. Now the only thing left to cope with is the distance, 1400 miles from home and Arianna is our only daughter. But I look forward to seeing what she does with her life goals.William Cannady

Beautiful campus in the heart of the Oregon Capital. If you ever find yourself in Salem and would like a pleasant place to check out, head over to Willamette University and check it out. This is one of the oldest universities in the west and has a long tradition. Also the cafeteria is both cheap and delicious.Cameron Mulder

We just got back from doing a round of college tours. The staff at this university were very friendly and knowledgeable. With this tour we saw the whole campus including a dorm room. Definitely a small school with about 2,000 undergrad students. Beautiful campusFranklin Walker

The teachers are great and the campus is nice but trying to get financial aid during COVID is impossible. The financial aid advisors are rude and don’t seem like they want to help you at all. Just because of this reason I will not be recommending MHCC to any of my friends and would suggest to go to Clackamas Community College where they are much, MUCH more helpful.Dima Poperechnyy

They make you jump through hoops and pass you around with little to no help. As an adult student using the GI Bill, I think this was the perfect way for me to get back into the swing of college again. The instructors are way overqualified in most cases, and I think it is shameful that most of them have to work at multiple colleges in the area in order to pay their bills. The cost for students is a great value. The buildings have all been updated and I think are great. I really enjoyed coming here. I ended up with 2 associates degrees when I left here. The cafeteria when I was here was not good. Horrible food that was too salty for the most part. The section that helps Veterans maneuver the funding was questionable at times, but the area for Veterans to hang out or study was pretty darn awesome. Parking can be tight depending on the time of day.Andrea F

The Oregon City Campus is beautiful! The one stand out regarding education at CCC is the faculty care about their students. CCC is also the most economical Community College in the state. Some points of interest would be the Environmental Learning Center. What a fabulous place to view wildlife, native plants and meander peacefully around the paths. Parking is close. You can meander another 2.1 miles around the perimeter of the college on a wide path. Most is paved, the remainder is finely crushed compacted gravel, so pushing a pram or pulling a wagon full of little ones is easy. Many spots are shaded for you true Oregonian 🙂Karen M

For those who got disappointed by Linfield experience, I would offer to please give it time. It is very valuable education, there is eternal value & substance received there that as we go through life guide us in amazing way. I would not trade this for any material thing. To this day, I continue to encounter amazing transforming kindness & enlightenments in life just because I went there 20 years ago. They saved me in life difficult moments & disappointments. I thank all my humble Professors there. They remind me of Socrates' words, "wisest is he who knows he knows not." Daughter attends currently. She and her friends love it; I learn from her course synopses when she returns home on break, and get to review her texts. The curriculum is excellent in liberal arts, improving in others. It's worth the cost, compared to other small colleges. I wish my parents had been able to afford to send me to Linfield, and care enough to consider offering to assist with teaching/ curriculum in my areas of expertise. Beautiful campus in a cool small town with great vibes. No Postgrad coursework offered, which encourages hiring teachers, not researchers. Such a beautiful campus! Its open and very nicely landscaped as well as maintained. It's very well lit so it's a nice little place to walk at night. Security is definately a presence but will oftentimes bother or question people just walking through the campus however I understand to a point due to theft I'm sure. 2 really pretty fountains, an outdoor art "display" around the art building and the library is public access (with permission) which is very helpful. Class of 2019 UWS more than adequately prepares their students for National Board Exams and Practice as Chiropractors. The professors and staff were incredibly supportive as they held us to high standards. I cannot emphasize enough how well they train their Docs to be prepared to address health conditions and situations beyond what is generally expected from a Chiropractor. 100% recommend this school. Update: I love my job. However, with the amount of student loan debt you end up with, I would say becoming a chiropractor is not a good financial decision. I would not recommend it unless you have more financial resources available to you than just your chiropractic salary. Good luck getting a loan for a house when you have $150k in student loan debt and a 30 year repayment plan.Bethany Gilles

The students at this school have been cracking my neck and back for over 15 years. As a result, they have messed up my neck and back to the point that I'm currently living with excruciating and paralyzing pain. I've tried everything you can imagine, ranging from all their recommendations, tools, and advices to my own research. They won't tell you the good stuff in terms of healing. I've been a long time patient at WSU. It used to be the best care in town. Unfortunately no longer. I suspect it's due to the loss of Doctor Delap. He placed the patient's needs first. That is not the case anymore. Don't waste your time. They place patient care last. In response to UWS…Administration is the problem. We went the the opening game and it was alright. This was our first Ducks game and we didn't know where to park or any of the rules. Unfortunately, the people who were directing traffic and explaining things didn't seem to have the information. We tried several places, only to find lots full two hours before the game and the price was different at each. Granted, we could have researched this better. Then, we got our tickets and tried to enter and first they said we had to purchase a clear bag for my wife's purse, then we were told there was one bag check line for the whole stadium. We finally did make it in to find our seats were bleachers and the unrully crowd in front of us were determined to stand the whole game and ruin the view. I need to stop my affiliation with the School of Business (there’s about a $500 fee every term) as I have taken on a new major. The ONLY WAY to cancel is to call them. Yet they don’t answer their phones or call back! It’s been days and multiple voicemails have been left, it’s unacceptable not to hear back, especially as a student paying good money to be apart of this institution. A lot of it (business schooling) is done through Connect, which has numerous issues that you will have to email the professor about. My accounting professor posts to the Dashboard often about hiccups in the Connect system and to “email her if we get that question.” You will waste your time on this elaborate spreadsheet for there to be a glitch in the system. I miss Clackamas Community College, it is honestly much better in terms of faculty availability for their students. Now I pay heaps more in tuition fees yet get less in return than I would at a community college for FREE. Not an excited new student to PSU so far. Or the school of business. Pretty bummed about it because I was excited as a kid on Christmas morning about attending university.hanini panini

Anjelika is a fantastic counselor. She's very positive and emotionally intelligent and insightful probably due to her many years of experience being a couple's counselor. Changes at work were causing a lot of anxiety with physical symptoms as well as other negative emotions that I was not able to get rid of. Also negative subconscious programming was holding me back from fulfilling my creative goals. I knew hypnosis could help and I researched hypnotherapists in the Portland area. My search brought me to Laney's website and I called her and made an appointment. Laney is a warm, intuitive and skilled hypnotherapist. After two sessions my anxiety was gone and I felt more accepting of myself and others. I no longer felt like I was "bad" or that something was wrong with me. I expressed a desire to learn 7th Path Self-Hypnosis and we did that for a few more sessions. I practice every day and will continue with the more advanced level when Laney has her workshops. I work in IT and to me hypnosis is like getting a new operating system. It removes the old, corrupt, irrational subconscious thoughts that hold us back and allows new rational thoughts to replace them. This review is in regards to a training Jason Luoma, Ph.D. held on Cape Cod entitled "ACT for Shame". I'm viewing his training from the lens of an early-career psychologist who is an advanced beginner ACT therapist. I highly recommend this and other high-quality continuing education courses provided by Dr. Luoma. His understanding of ACT and the treatment of high-shame, high-self-criticism is thorough and immediately accessible by participants in his training. At the same time, he succeeds in modeling effective therapeutic behavior in his training style and promotes effective experiential learning through a process of self-exploration exercises, mindfulness activities, and role- and realplays. In particular, I was impressed by his ability to accommodate a wide variety of clinical backgrounds in the training, with only a minority of the participants self-identifying as ACT therapists. He was very appreciative of the level of expertise of the group and clearly put in effort to adapt his material and approach to the needs of the group. Before Dr. Luoma’s class, which was five 3-hour classes for five consecutive months starting in November, 2013, he emailed participants that his goal was to make this “one of the best professional learning experiences” we have ever had. I will say he succeeded. This was not a sit-back and-languidly-listen kind of continuing education experience. Rather, we were active and engaged with homework assignments between workshop sessions, reading articles and doing role-plays to learn skills. We discussed concepts, clinical interventions and watched and discussed videos of clinicians demonstrating the skills we were working on. Dr. Luoma was positive and supportive throughout the course. He gave us constructive and clinically astute suggestions on how to frame interventions when he watched us practice role-plays with other class participants. His expertise was impressive, and he generously shared it with us. I would highly recommend any class that he offers.A Google User

Completed the form to be contacted with very clear details of my desire to use Medicare OR cash pay if need be to start doing therapy again… received one (and only) response with some generic message about not accepting my insurance to which I responded saying cash pay is fine while reiterating that I ALREADY previously mentioned I can pay out-of-pocket (which they seemingly don’t read) and asking to setup an appointment with no response back. I’d highly recommend finding some intake technicians that are actually coherent and can actually do the job/task at hand. It’s unbelievable how difficult it is to get your mind right and embark in the journey of recovery but I think having the expectations of a response at a minimum is pretty reasonable right? Unreal I have NOT undergone therapy here FYI – this is just my experience trying to orchestrate an initial intake.Jeremy Blong

I visited the Green Tulip Preschool looking for a Nature based indoor/outdoor preschool and was not disappointed. Upon arrival, I was greeted with nothing but kindness and enthusiasm to many questions and asking to revisit areas a handful of times. The space inside and outside the house is utilized very well, offering a variety of learning centers and opportunities for the children across multiple developmental domains. Though the preschool is located on a busy street, the children are secured within the yard with a new fence and wall of tall trees adds privacy to the area. I was also informed that this location is temporary while the owner is looking for a permanent location. The philosophy of the school is reflected through the environment, which is what attracted me in the first place. The creative curriculum allows the children to garden, care for chickens,play in the sand box, write on the chalkboard walls, among other opportunities. I have nothing but confidence in my decision in making the Green Tulip Preschool the place my daughter receives an education.Monica Cifelli

We have our two kiddos at Green Tulip and have had a thoroughly positive experience. The attention paid to our kids and the learning environment are great. The Director, Nadine, is well educated in child psychology and behavior and implores a philosophy centered around creativity and nature. Our nanny of two years introduced us to and recommended the school when she needed to reduce the number of hours watching our kids. We've been incredibly pleased with how our kids easily transitioned into the school, the care they've been given, and the food they are served. The location is on a busy street but the yard is appropriately secured, drop off and pick up can be off the busy street in the school's driveway, and we feel comfortable with the setting (which includes fruit trees, chicken coop, sand boxes, swings and slide, etc.). The primary reason for our superb rating of the school is the quality of care, attention, and learning our children receive, and our choice of child care is not something we take lightly.Kath Kelly

My son and daughter had a wonderful experience at the Green Tulip Preschool. We had a magical 3yrs with Miss Nadine.The thought, knowledge and dedication she has for this school is immediately apparent when walking in the door. Everything is very well thought out and executed. From the beautiful physical space she has set up inside to the outside play area of the home. The arts projects the kids do are both creative and educational, like the monthly learning themes (Ocean, farm , weather etc.). She provides a supportive and caring environment while still providing structure. She goes out of her way to meet my children's extensive needs. I graduated from Treehouse Recovery PDX on August 10, 2018. A few months prior I was lost and afraid in life. 27 years old with no sense of direction, purpose or self love. I recently contacted Tree House Recovery in search of a place for my son. A few years back I stumbled across their website and decided to revisit it because I was intrigued by how they approach addiction and the methods they use to help men be successful in recovery. Going through Tree House saved my life! Before Tree House I was a wreck of a man. I could not stop the horrible cycle of addiction. I was on the street, sleeping in cars hopeless and suicidal. I wanted to book a IELTS with this PELA test center. The experience is shocking and will let any potential English learners overseas and in the U.S get an idea of how this academy is running and what is the working culture inside. Below is the story. I am just a common test taker who resides in Seattle. The closest test center is in Portland. So I wish to book a speaking test as late in the morning as possible because I have to drive 3 hours for the test. The first booking on 31/07/2022 was canceled due to my concerns had not been addressed in time by the Portland English Language Academy(PELA) IELTS test center and so I did not pay within 48 hours. Several days later, I found a 10:40 am speaking test on 31/07/2022 available and I booked the test on Monday 25/07/2022 afternoon Seattle time. I received an acknowledgment email that says that I have 48 hours to pay. I also email again at 4 pm Monday 25/07/2022 to PELA to see if any later speaking test that morning is possible. The next morning Tuesday, 26/07/2022, I got an email from PELA IELTS test center that I have to pay before 9:15 am or my test will be canceled. I was asleep. When I tried to pay at 10 am, the test was canceled. While the other test centers, like Boston, can still allow me to book the 31/07/2022 test at 11 am 07/26/2022, the administrator said she had to close the booking system. I do not know why she chose to give me a hard time and difficulties in taking the test. The test center administrator, a lady, said she runs the test center as a DICTATOR over the phone. She insisted that she has to close the booking system and cancel my test appointment. We chatted over the phone and she admitted it is her random decision. She said she runs the test center as she wants. She refused to re-book the test for me while other test centers can still allow the 31/07/2022 test to be booked. I can even hear a man laughing when we chatted over the phone. I do not know why this lady, the PELA IELTS test staff would have to do such a thing to me? Why would she have to give me a hard time? This incident can give you an idea of this academy and its staff and its working culture. Are they gonna treat you with respect and kindness? You be the judge.K D

TERRIBLE TEST CENTER! Never take a IELTs test at this center! Located inside the shopping center, this test site can never be used as a test site. It was so loud that I could hear the sound of EDM songs over the wall and even the lyrics. There is a hair salon right next to it. They played a song loudly there. Even before the start of the test, I told the issue to the staff twice, but the test was conducted without apology or any action in an attitude that was not her job. She looked that she didn’t care about it. It was a crucial test for me. It was so loud that I couldn't concentrate on the test. While taking the test, I asked if she could give me ear plugs because the noise was serious, but only a short answer came back saying that they did not sympathize at all. In the end, I got the worst score on this test. The staff are not friendly. It's really absurd and I'm so upset about how I'll be compensated for my time and money.H Y

What is feel and impression who studied in PELA? What are receive when you study at PELA? There are many activities that occur in this school. I will tell some things which remember in my memories story. I have many experiences when studied at PELA . First, All teachers are very nice and try to teach in coursepack and real live for all students. Then, my friend came from very nationalities. We talked a lot of topics and played games together during class room and free time. After that, in a class room separated in many levels that don't bored to learn in a same level. Finally, learning out side class room for example the happy hour and the party were activities that knew about American people and culture around Portland. Cancelled my appointment over and over again. Getting them to send medical records to another provider was like pulling teeth. I was diagnosed in June and it is August. I haven’t been able to get an appointment with a counselor or a med management doctor. Every time I make an appointment it’s cancelled or rescheduled. I have made so many calls to Lifestance and made so many different appointments that I plan my life and work schedule around only for them to cancel over and over. No one on the phone takes accountability because it’s never any one’s fault (talk to different people from different providers offices every time you call). I still have only had two successful appts (diagnosis appointments) and no appointments to actually help me with the diagnosis. I have given up on Lifestance. This is a company that is supposed to help people who struggle with mental health, I can’t imagine how many people with mental health problems have encountered these same issues.
